Is God punishing the Gulf?

Every time there's a disaster, someone figures out a reason why God would want to do this to us. It happened with Hurricane Katrina, and with the Haiti earthquake, and now it's happening with the Gulf oil spill, msnbc.com science editor Alan Boyle writes on Cosmic Log.

God didn't do this - MAN did this.  I am really offended that anybody would try to say that God did this to us.  Earthquakes happen - don't live in areas where there are major fault lines (take heed California).  Hurricanes happen - don't build cities below sea level (and don't rebuild them either after they have been destroyed by mother nature).  Man-made equipment breaks - no matter how safe you make it, whatever you haven't planned for, will eventually happen (just like whatever insurance you don't have is what you will need someday).  I sure wish people would get a brain and put blame where blame should be:  PEOPLE

God is punishing us for risking the environment by drilling in the deep sea continental shelf using poorly engineered equipment and being unprepared for any type of failure. God is very clever and seems to point out the obvious difficiencies with cause effect failures. He is so good at concealing himself that it almost appears as though we have ourselves to blame. He also punishes birds and fish for our sins. What a God!

He did the same sort of divine cruelty when he pushed that iceberg into the Titanic.

I actually believe there is some truth to both comments listed. However one thing is for certain. And that is that 7 years after Prayer was removed from our Public Schools disasters began both on school properties and with drive by shootings etc. 7 years is the time spent in junior grades and when the first classes emerged with no prayer time at school we had our first round of high volume youth ready for jails. Was it the fault of the youths? Not entirely. Our Values, Social, Moral, and school discipline had been modified through Court proceedings in favor of the ACLU by our now overly liberated Supreme Court. In actuality the earth is undergoing changes every millisecond and yes God is angry with shoving him away from our educational facilities. So there you have it. It's a double WHAMMY.

It shouldn't be that hard to re-establish Prayer in Schools. It is very evident that the removal has been devasting on our youthful society. So with that evidence why not begin with the re-establishment of Prayer in the Schools. The world wasn't perfect then but it sure was Heaven in comparison to what it is today. People got along much better then; were more friendly and we weren't suspicious of every new face we encountered. And at one time we actually had a government of the people, for the people; by the people and not just the big corporations running the politicians. There was less corruption and more of a buddy how can I help you attitude. Let's try some of the old proven and should have been patented ideas again.

God created the beautiful Gulf. BP chose to be negligent and therefore chose to destroy what God created for all of mankind. BP is also choosing to use Nalco's Corexit Chemical to further destroy the ocean marine life. This will keep the marine life from surfacing and they will sink to the bottom where no one will see their remains. BP knows this chemical is both deadly and risky and again is choosing to continue using it. BP was negligent in the past with its oil drilling operations and it is choosing to continue to be negligent. It can't be any clearer.

You have to be kidding me. No prayer in school causeses our problems? That is about the same thing as saying that a gun killed someone. Someone had to pull the trigger. Same thing with our kids. Someone screwed up raising them. Same thing in the Gulf. Someone screwed up.

To honestly think that something out there is a god, and that he exists, and that he is the cause of our problems, is just asinine.

Religion rots the brain. Think logical, not fantasy.

Well an alternative plan for energy should be put into place due to this error of judgement. I dont think GOD would want people to suffer for our over useage of oil, if WE care for advancement of humanity that includes clean food, water and a healthly planet WE need to assist GOD in making good choices. So lets help GOD on this one as WE are the cuase of this one. Fess up you drove to work today, flipped a switch or ate a burger with no thought to the enviroment.

God says "I set before you this day life and death, blessings and curses" We serve ourselves and reap what we sow. He also said " I will destroy those who destroy MY earth." And "the earth is mine and the fullness thereof!" Woe to the proud, greedy and lustful. (Listing for power, control )

In my Heart I have always belived the Ocean and Creatures is Gods fish bowl I'm 60 and have always respected this thought I as one wish not to provoke him God.. but as usual there are many whom become greedy and disrupt or take what is not theirs..who thru human elements thrash destroy things of beauty. Disaster yes it is, but my more concern is all the living Creaters, Mammels all Sea Life ,etc that have died and are dying and will die due to this Major Human error..and the News is not reporting these deathsnot as much as the Public needs to see and know ..I beleive this would be the last straw for God he has given us so much and he receives so little thanks he doesn't ask for much ..Al-423962Our Values, Social, Moral, and school discipline had been modified through Court proceedings in favor of the ACLU by our now overly liberated Supreme Court.
