Come to Pensacola - BP clean-up workers like it!

In Pensacola Beach, Fla., the county Chamber of Commerce and VisitPensacola.com have produced a light-hearted video paid for by BP.

Actors portraying BP clean-up workers are shown enjoying all the attractions in town - from skipping down the beach to going for a bike ride to taking in the nightlife - in an attempt to draw visitors back to the region. Over a montage of Pensacola scenes, text reads, "The cleanup goes on. But the fun never stopped. Pensacola."

Watch the full clip, titled "Clean Up Fun," that Visit Pensacola posted on YouTube.

I was told, by someone who left Pensacola/Destin, last week, that the workers are mainly Hispanic, who work 15 minutes, and talk 45 minutes, repeating this all day.

I was in Biloxi, MS the first week in July and your friend is correct except I did not see any Hispanics standing around in groups. I do not know how much BP is paying them, but, what ever it is it is too much.

My friend and I took our vacation the week of June 20th. We were going to the gulf coast in spite of the oil. I googled every hotel there (from Biloxi to Pensacola) to get a room that was around $130. Nothing, nothing at all. The prices were outrages. It is no wonder that the hotels are empty. We stayed away, went to the coast of NC instead where we were able to get a hotel room for $120 in a 4 Star hotel, and had a great time. I FIND IT VERY HARD TO HAVE EMPATHY, THIS IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS. Had they lowered their prices because of the oil spill, people would still have come and spend money not only at the hotel but at all these other businesses.

DUDE- that is during the standard summer/tourist months! It is how the Chambers of Commerce regulate influx of revenue.... sheeeeesh, $130 a night for a hotel on the Beach? Unreasonal price to expect, in the first place, if you ask me, and I live in Pensacola!

Yank - I can hardly believe that! And Harold, how can they be getting paid too much when you don't even know how much they're getting? It never fails to see morons and their idiotic garbage comments!

It's not their Beach's they are cleaning up! BP wants to do it on the cheap! I think the cops need to check papers and fine BP for all illegals.

So many allegations, so many racial/racist remarks, and yet some people wonder or shake their head at the state of the world! Grow up! BP is under so much physical scrutiny right now and especially since the spill, that if they fart someone will know of it, so to blatantly accuse any Corporation of hiring illegal anything is preposterous and shows the low levels of mentally you possess. Instead of worrying about things like skin color try concentrating your mind and efforts on the more practical side.... go volunteer to clean up a beach, paint a community center or some other wholesome activity..... Bigoted/racist &/or small minded people give Humanity a bad name. I'll be climbing down off of my soap box now.... Thank you for listening, lol, well reading @ any rate.
