Subscribe to RSSElias Abuelazam was questioned by police twice on the same day last month in Michigan, msnbc.com has learned, marking the second and third times police are known to have investigated him since the string of 18 stabbings in three states — five of them fatal — began in late May.
In neither of the cases were police able to make the connection.
The Associated Press previously reported that Abuelazam was arrested last week during a traffic stop and later released in Northern Virginia.
Court records on file in 67th District Court in Genessee County, Mich., show that Abuelazam was also charged on the afternoon of July 29 with providing alcohol to a minor, which carries a $40 fine. Later that evening, he was stopped for a $125 traffic violation. Both fines were due next week.
In the traffic citation, Abuelazam gave his address as a unit in the Fountain Lakes Apartments in Bradenton, Fla., where 1- and 2-bedroom units are listed as renting for $829 to $949 a month. It's the same address listed on his arrest warrant in the stabbing two days earlier of Antwoine Marshall, 26, of Flint, the only attack in which Abuelazam is currently charged.

Years ago we were a nation that welcomed everyone into our country, that was before Terrorist's took advantage of that loop hole. You can no longer let everyone in un-checked ? Not a good Idea. This person was in this country legally. He was not an illegal alien. I'm tired of the "stop the foreigners" mantra. Folks we were all foreigners once. I'm glad folks did not have that attitude when my ancestors got here. His status as a legal alien with a green card has absolutely nothing to do with what happened. He is obviously sick and should be punished but punished for his crimes not because he was born in another country and came here legally.

Sorry Traveler, but having an expired passport has nothing to do with the status. As an immigrant living in the US with green card you need to renew your passport with the embassy and I personally would not do it unless i plan travel aboard. The US does not care about it. You can travel to Canada and some other countries with green card, btw. This rule does not apply, however, when you travel by air. That is most likely how he got into the radar

John, I don't know where you're coming from either - the original immigration act from the 1700s required that someone live here for five years before they could renounce their country, which means five years of illegal residency. So no, your ancestors did not come here legally either.
Hello, we have no objection to immigrants here LEGALLY, the way we Americans have to "abide" by the law. Come in the front door and we have no problem. Stand in line and face the bureaucracy and we have no problem. What we do object are illegals, who come here with no status, take our food stamps meant for poor Americans, educate their children on our "dime" money meant for educating our children, clothe their children "on our dime" when our children need them, nurse themselves back to health "on our taxpayer health plans" when people in America can't afford health care. Illegals send their money back to their families and homeland, but come here to rip us take everything they can get. And WE, on the other hand, have worked hard all our lives, paid our taxes, paid for our children's educations (not Scott free, like illegals will get) will have virtually NOTHING to retire on. Yes, it is the government's responsibility to care for me. They darn well have taken my money since I was 16 years old, so they can care for me - to do otherwise would be DOWN RIGHT STEALING! We're almost there, now aren't we! Let's see what's left once Obama and his "immigration reform" takes hold - that's a mighty big IF! Let's care for American who need help. Start saving they take ss taxes out of every one of my checks so I can have it when I get older as they do everyones. I too am a legal immigrant from the beautiful Isles where from the Founding Fathers set sail and were bold enough to take on an adventure of a lifetime. To a land where God was centered in every word spoken, every declaration declared and every inch of the land settled upon. Many hundreds of thousands of families that came through Ellis Island were who made this country great and I too get sick and tired of hearing people talk about being American. What does that actually mean and where did your ancestors come from? We all know who the original Americans are but do you hear them screaming about illegal aliens? It's such a sad reflection of the state of the society we ALL live in when some feel they have the right to set such boundaries. It stands to reason that security needs tightened and jobs need to be protected but to punish everyone else who wants to come to this country in the hope of becoming an important part of making this great nation great once again goes against everything the Founding Fathers stood for.
Sheila i don't believe for a second that anyone is against legal immigration, what you hear people scream the loudest about is illegals and the cost we are burdened with, my great great grandparents came from germany and ireland respectively in the mid 1800's and they came legally, it used to be that it was important for immigrants to assimilate and become truly american, they learned the language and customs and it actually meant something to BE an american citizen. they did not come here to retain allegiance to the old country from which they came, and spit on, step on, urinate on or burn the american flag and thumb their noses at us as a country as we have seen in the southwest of late. we (as in all non native americans) took this country from the native americans this is true, theres nothing you or I or anyone else can do about that. we fought wars to build a nation, we won some lands from mexico in those wars and we purchased other lands from mexico also. now the mexican people want to say that we should allow them complete access to those lands without any allegiance to this country as it stands and as a country we have said no. we cannot be blamed for the lands their countrymen lost to us or sold us hundreds of years ago any more then we can be blamed for the slaves that were brought here hundreds of years ago. that is in the hands of history and cannot be changed. that does not mean we should be irresponsible in how we manage the things that are of the utmost importance to this nations security and well being. immigration needs to be fixed, illegals need to be deported. i'm totally for a guest worker program that allows them to come here legally and temporarily to work the jobs they historically perform if they want to continue doing those jobs, without giving them citizenship or amnesty for the illegals that are already here. obviously for the majority their loyalties are at home, not to this nation. this is what you hear people complain about, not legal immigration.

I agree that this isn't a question of immigration at all, but a question of racism and government not attending to the welfare of its' citizens, but of the wishes of corporate america who is outsourcing jobs to foreigners and overseas. Our tax dollars go to these countries, and we lose jobs to people from those countries. Heck they come here more educated because our tax money paid it while our govenment cuts money to our educational infrastructure. When will America wake up and take the country back from the fat cats and career politians and the corporations and put it back into the hands of the CITIZENS of the UNITED STATES. One misconception is that when our grandparents poured into Ellis Island that everyone was admitted. This is untrue, there were even doctors waiting at the bottom of the gangplank to check each person out. They even examined fingernails and they rejected people showing any signs of physical or mental problems and they were sent back. Those who were accepted in those days are still grateful. They escaped unthinkable conditions.

Approximately 350, 000 babies born in the USA each year are born to illegal immigrants. Our government prints it's information in I believe 8 different languages today.. Speaking at least 5-6 grade English should be mandatory to become naturalized citizen. People who immigrated to the New Country made the effort to learn our language and to adapt to their new way of life, Not bring their country here. Mexico's biggest import is money from the USA

What if 20 Million Illegal Aliens Vacated America ?
I, Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News wrote a column titled, "Mexican Visitor's Lament"- 10/25/07.
I interviewed Mexican journalist Evangelina Hernandez while visiting Denver last week. Hernandez said, "illegal aliens pay rent, buy groceries, buy clothes. What Happens to your country's economy if 20 million people go away?" Hummm, I thought, what would happen, so I did my due diligence, buried my nose as a reporter into the FACTS I found below.
It's a good question it deserves an honest answer. Over 80% of Americans demand secured borders and illegal migration stopped. But what would happen if all 20 million or more vacated America ? The answers I found may surprise you!
In California , if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back to Mexico , it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupt hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested. Everyone could understand one another as English became the dominant language again.
In Colorado , 500,000 illegal migrants, plus their 300,000 kids and grand-kids would move back 'home', mostly to Mexico . That would save Coloradans an estimated $2 billion (other experts say $7 billion) annually in taxes that pay for schooling, medical, social-services and incarceration costs. It means 12,000 gang members would vanish out of Denver alone.
Colorado would save more than $20 million in prison costs, and the terror that those 7,300 alien criminals set upon local citizens. Denver Officer Don Young and hundreds of Colorado victims would not have suffered death, accidents, rapes and other crimes by illegal's.
Denver Public Schools would not suffer a 67% drop-out/flunk-out rate because of thousands of illegal alien students speaking 41 different languages. At least 200,000 vehicles would vanish from our gridlocked cities in Colorado . Denver 's 4% unemployment rate would vanish as our working poor would gain jobs at a living wage.
In Florida , 1.5 million illegal's would return the Sunshine State back to America , the rule of law, and English.
In Chicago , Illinois , 2.1 million illegal's would free up hospitals, schools, prisons and highways for a safer, cleaner and more crime-free experience.
If 20 million illegal aliens returned 'home', the U.S. Economy would return to the rule of law. Employers would hire legal American citizens at a living wage. Everyone would pay their fair share of taxes because they wouldn't be working off the books. That would result in an additional $401 Billion in IRS income taxes collected annually, and an equal amount for local, state and city coffers.
No more push '1' for Spanish or '2' for English. No more confusion in American schools that now must contend with over 100 languages that degrade the educational system for American kids. Our over-crowded schools would lose more than two million illegal alien kids at a cost of billions in ESL and free breakfasts and lunches.
We would lose 500,000 illegal criminal alien inmates at a cost of more than $1.6 billion annually. That includes 15,000 MS-13 gang members who distribute $130 billion in drugs annually would vacate our country.
In cities like L.A. , 20,000 members of the ' 18th Street Gang' would vanish from our nation. No more Mexican forgery gangs for ID theft from Americans! No more foreign rapists and child molesters!
Losing more than 20 million people would clear up our crowded highways and gridlock. Cleaner air and less drinking and driving American deaths by illegal aliens!
America's economy is drained. Taxpayers are harmed. Employers get rich. Over $80 billion annually wouldn't return to the aliens' home countries by cash transfers. Illegal migrants earned half that money untaxed, which further drains America 's economy which currently suffers an $8.7 trillion debt.

At least 400,000 anchor babies would not be born in our country, costing us $109 billion per year per cycle. At least 86 hospitals in California , Georgia and Florida would still be operating instead of being bankrupt out of existence because illegal's pay nothing via the EMTOLA Act.
Americans wouldn't suffer thousands of TB and hepatitis cases rampant in our country-brought in by illegal's unscreened at our borders.
Our cities would see 20 million less people driving, polluting and grid locking our cities. It would also put the 'progressives' on the horns of a dilemma; illegal aliens and their families cause 11% of our greenhouse gases.
Over one million of Mexico's poorest citizens now live inside and along our border from Brownsville, Texas to San Diego, California in what the New York Times called, 'colonias' or new neighborhoods. Trouble is, those living areas resemble Bombay and Calcutta where grinding poverty, filth, diseases, drugs, crimes, no sanitation and worse. They live without sewage, clean water, streets, roads, electricity, or any kind of sanitation.
The New York Times reported them to be America 's new ' Third World ' inside our own country. Within 20 years, at their current growth rate, they expect 20 million residents of those colonias. (I've seen them personally in Texas and Arizona ; it's sickening beyond anything you can imagine.)
By enforcing our laws, we could repatriate them back to Mexico . We should invite 20 million aliens to go home, fix their own countries and/or make a better life in Mexico . We already invite a million people into our country legally more than all other countries combined annually. We cannot and must not allow anarchy at our borders, more anarchy within our borders and growing lawlessness at every level in our nation. It's time to stand up for our country, our culture, our civilization and our way of life.

This needs to be published in every newspaper in America. Every Senator, House of Representative, Congressman, and all top government official need to be handed a copy of this. They should have to read this and made to sign it. Then if there is no progress shown in a year then when election time comes vote those slackers out and vote some real americans into office. What if 20 Million Illegal Aliens Vacated America ?
I, Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News wrote a column titled, "Mexican Visitor's Lament"- 10/25/07.
I interviewed Mexican journalist Evangelina Hernandez while visiting Denver last week. Hernandez said, "illegal aliens pay rent, buy groceries, buy clothes. What Happens to your country's economy if 20 million people go away?" Hummm, I thought, what would happen, so I did my due diligence, buried my nose as a reporter into the FACTS I found below.
It's a good question it deserves an honest answer. Over 80% of Americans demand secured borders and illegal migration stopped. But what would happen if all 20 million or more vacated America ? The answers I found may surprise you!
In California , if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back to Mexico , it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupt hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested. Everyone could understand one another as English became the dominant language again.
In Colorado , 500,000 illegal migrants, plus their 300,000 kids and grand-kids would move back 'home', mostly to Mexico . That would save Coloradans an estimated $2 billion (other experts say $7 billion) annually in taxes that pay for schooling, medical, social-services and incarceration costs. It means 12,000 gang members would vanish out of Denver alone.
Colorado would save more than $20 million in prison costs, and the terror that those 7,300 alien criminals set upon local citizens. Denver Officer Don Young and hundreds of Colorado victims would not have suffered death, accidents, rapes and other crimes by illegal's.
Denver Public Schools would not suffer a 67% drop-out/flunk-out rate because of thousands of illegal alien students speaking 41 different languages. At least 200,000 vehicles would vanish from our gridlocked cities in Colorado . Denver 's 4% unemployment rate would vanish as our working poor would gain jobs at a living wage.
In Florida , 1.5 million illegal's would return the Sunshine State back to America , the rule of law, and English.
In Chicago , Illinois , 2.1 million illegal's would free up hospitals, schools, prisons and highways for a safer, cleaner and more crime-free experience.
If 20 million illegal aliens returned 'home', the U.S. Economy would return to the rule of law. Employers would hire legal American citizens at a living wage. Everyone would pay their fair share of taxes because they wouldn't be working off the books. That would result in an additional $401 Billion in IRS income taxes collected annually, and an equal amount for local, state and city coffers.
No more push '1' for Spanish or '2' for English. No more confusion in American schools that now must contend with over 100 languages that degrade the educational system for American kids. Our over-crowded schools would lose more than two million illegal alien kids at a cost of billions in ESL and free breakfasts and lunches.
We would lose 500,000 illegal criminal alien inmates at a cost of more than $1.6 billion annually. That includes 15,000 MS-13 gang members who distribute $130 billion in drugs annually would vacate our country.
In cities like L.A. , 20,000 members of the ' 18th Street Gang' would vanish from our nation. No more Mexican forgery gangs for ID theft from Americans! No more foreign rapists and child molesters!
Losing more than 20 million people would clear up our crowded highways and gridlock. Cleaner air and less drinking and driving American deaths by illegal aliens!
America's economy is drained. Taxpayers are harmed. Employers get rich. Over $80 billion annually wouldn't return to the aliens' home countries by cash transfers. Illegal migrants earned half that money untaxed, which further drains America 's economy which currently suffers an $8.7 trillion debt.

Over one million of Mexico's poorest citizens now live inside and along our border from Brownsville, Texas to San Diego, California in what the New York Times called, 'colonias' or new neighborhoods. Trouble is, those living areas resemble Bombay and Calcutta where grinding poverty, filth, diseases, drugs, crimes, no sanitation and worse. They live without sewage, clean water, streets, roads, electricity, or any kind of sanitation.
The New York Times reported them to be America 's new ' Third World ' inside our own country. Within 20 years, at their current growth rate, they expect 20 million residents of those colonias. (I've seen them personally in Texas and Arizona ; it's sickening beyond anything you can imagine.)
By enforcing our laws, we could repatriate them back to Mexico . We should invite 20 million aliens to go home, fix their own countries and/or make a better life in Mexico . We already invite a million people into our country legally more than all other countries combined annually. We cannot and must not allow anarchy at our borders, more anarchy within our borders and growing lawlessness at every level in our nation. It's time to stand up for our country, our culture, our civilization and our way of life.
