Jessica Harthorn of NBC station WEYI of Flint, Mich., tracked down relatives of some of the victims of the Michigan serial stabber and says it was a day of tears, hugs and anger.
Cries of relief from the family of Arnold Minor after they learn his suspected killer has been arrested.
49-year-old Minor was the fifth person murdered by Flint's serial killer.
He died here on Saginaw Street, just south of downtown Flint on August 2.
Thursday, the suspected killer, 33-year-old Elias Abuelazam was arrested boarding a plane at an airport in Atlanta, Georgia.
"I want them to hang 'im up by his nuts, string him up and let him hang for a while," said Elzora Minor, the mother of Arnold Minor.
Harthorn heard similar sentiments from Richard Booker, who survived an attack July 19.
"I hope they kill him, I don't want to waste my tax dollars on a nutty killer," said Richard Booker, a victim of the serial killer.
He was slashed down his abdomen, stabbed in the liver and cut to the bone on his forearms.
Booker says he was walking down Charles Road about 10:30 at night, he was walking back from Beecher Beer and Wine, when he saw a man on the side of the road. He asked Booker for help unlatching the hood of his car.
"I'm trying to help him open it, and he just snuck around from behind and gutted me like a fish," said Booker.
After the attack, Booker dragged himself to his front porch, losing eight pints of blood. He was on the brink of death when his wife found him.
"I didn't feel a lot of pain. I was just scared to death, because I know I was bleeding a lot, and I wasn't ready to die," said Booker.
That was his last thought before waking up in the I.C.U two weeks later.
"Just pray to God, let me live," said Booker.

Here's a motive: After living in this country for a long time you realize some people can't live without racism. It's like a security blanket. Things don't go their way, they go to their racism to make themselves feel better, cause as much hurt as possible, etc.. People from other countries and more importantly our enemies think this is funny. They also see this as a big weakness. Right now tension is already high (politics, economy, etc.). What a perfect way to stage another attack. Get the whole country distracted with racial tension and then go for it! We would never see it coming because we would be too busy bickering. Wake up people it's 2010! I know good and bad people of all colors. It's been my life study. United we stand, divided we are a sitting duck! Mark my words!!!!!!!

I find it ironic how vehement the hatred toward this potential serial killer is by the black victims, when in reality, the black communities throughout the country are notorious for their code of silence when it comes to cooperating with authorities regarding black on black crime. The police said they received hundreds of leads that they investigated. It's time for the black communities across the country to stop protecting the bad apples within their own communities. It just seems a little hypocritical.

So you think that it is justified that that sick freak Elias Abuelazam attack all but one of those men because they are black simply because you think that there some form of code of silence among black people pertaining to black on black crime?! You seem as warp as Elias Abuelazam. That is some twisted BS! Even if that is the case, what does that have to do with the cost of tea in China? People are people, no matter what. Aren't there white on white crimes? Most of the crimes committed are committed by white people. Its just that white people are less likely to be caught or charged, because they are white. White people are less likely to be accused of fitting the profit of a suspect. Why didn't you feel that it was necessary for you to comment about white on white crime?....Because you are racist, that's why!!! You need to get your facts straight, because white people are far more likely to use the code of silence pertaining to crimes, especially, when it involves black people.

Im not white, nor black, but whites make up 65% of the population or so in america, and blacks are about 7%, but yet the jails, they are 75% black, not because the whites dont get caught, its because the blacks are doing more of the crime. Its just the way it is, those are the facts. "With freedom comes great responsibility", which is something the black community has failed at horribly since the 1950's. Take responsibility, when your a 40 year old man, why are you still smokin blunts, wearing baggy pants, and listening to rap music full blast in your cadillac? Grow up and teach your kids right so they can evolve into decent human beings instead of thinking that life is about selling dope, drinking, and acting like a teenager when your an adult, unfortunatly, not all, but a very high percentage of blacks seem to think thats the way its supposed to be. Hey C_D_J55, whites like me< if you would not have half assed the reading of my blog, you would have seen me state that I am not white, nor black. And, if a 40 year old white guy is cruising in a pickup, he wont be listening to goth music, it would be country or rock, u dip. And i bet 75 of 100 black guys in thier 40's still act like a teenager wearing baggy pants listening to rap, and 5 of 100 white guys will be acting like a teenager. R-E-A-L-I-T-Y!! My business is education, and as a teacher, we have to go to seminars to learn how we need to treat black kids differently than the rest of the kids, the studies show that asian and white kids have higher iq's than black children, dont get mad, that just the way its is. And the white priviledge is deserved, this is the great country it is because of the whites. Without the european's that came over, it would still be a vast land of dirt, with a tee pee here and there. If you dont like it, go back to whatever land your people are from. A comment to 'Wake Up Call'.......roll back to 1969.......this is what Charlie Manson had in mind in Los Angeles, the reason he tried to make the crimes look like blacks had perpetrated them. So whites would raise up against blacks. People have been doing the same ugly things throughout history. Hey C_D, did u ever hear that the one story about a white lady making a false claim against a black person, or hey C_D, ever hear of that one story that a minority was cleared of charges, ever hear of that one story where a cop falsified a report, its always one story that is blown out of proportion by a liberal media to make blacks think they are a victim in life. And I dont visit a black man in the ghetto, nor a white or mexican in the ghetto. Blacks dont scare me, neither do whites or mexicans, just cause some one is louder and cant say "ask" correctly(AXE), doesnt make them scary to me, just stupid. One thing is for sure about this situation and that is Americans should never become so budget conscious that they are ready to reduce important services like funding to the police departments. If this man got off the hook too many times it was because the local P.D.'s lacked the resources to hold him.

Wow. This Abu El Azam guy is truly a classic serial killer. There's no other explanation for it than the man is a freak accident of nature, with a very deficient brain chemistry make up.
When serial killers were first documented over a 100 years ago people kept asking why so many of them were American and English. But that was only because serial killers in other countires were not being kept track of.
These folks are everywhere. The human mind, like everything else in nature, is not always perfect.
Whatever this killer's motive was, I agree with wake up call's point that we, as a nation, cannot afford to be divided as a people in this year 2010 or in the foreseeable future. Whether the bone of contention is race, religion, Ms. Palin's politics, tea parties, the economy, joblessness, or whatever. America has always been able to survive when we pull together as a people, as one nation united and indivisible. This killer is from the middle east. His social history would not contain the formative influences that fuel black / white racism as it developed in the US. Besides, according to one victim's description, he attacked with a knife like a trained killer, an assassin. It makes sense to assume that he was actually functioning as a terrorist. Though traveling on an expired Israeli passport, he appears to be of Arab extraction. If he is, then he has even less reason to hate black Americans. I remember news paper reports of a comment made not too many years ago by a white member of the US Congress, in which he referred to native people of the desert regions of the middle east as "Sand [the "N" word]". Of course that hapless politico apologized profusely after the article appeared, but his comment revealed the fact some Americans group all people of color together regardless of nationality or genetic ethnicity. So if this killer's victims were selected because of true racial hatred, and not as a terrorist act, I think it is more probable that his victims would have been white Americans.
Yeah, that's too bad. Remember he's innocent until proven guilty. If I were the defense attorney I'd plead "self defense" on the grounds that anyone (especially a perceived white guy) in a black neighborhood that asks for directions or help or car broke down or anything late at night has a 99% chance of getting mugged and or killed by that seemingly nice black person he just walked up too. I'm certain this is exactly what happened. I guess your dream of opening that Middle Eastern restaurant will have to be put on the back burner until you're proven innocent. My heart is with you. Do you seriously think a competent defense attorney would argue that a guy created a ruse of asking for directions and then viciously attacking people kind enough to answer him was scared? They may be worthless members of society but the victims still have families and loved ones who somehow care about them. Show some respect for the families of these losers, will you?

How are they worthless? Did you know all of the victims? If any of them had jobs, provided for their families, and were law-abiding citizens, then they were not "worthless." I take a mental note about online comments regarding news articles related to African Americans. Whenver people want to argue that "anti-black racism doesn't exist" or "Black people need to get over fears of racism", comments like this provide a counter-argument. On his way back to Israel, doubt if anything will become of this. There's one very underreported fact of American life: White-on-white crime. And, I'm not talking about white collar crime. Go to Appalachia or poor white areas i Texas, Kentucky, etc. an read some of the local newspapers or talk to a few honest citizens. You will hear some white-on-white crime stories that match ANYTHING going on in black communities.
I did 35 years of big rig driving over most of America. The stories I heard in the mostly white, and lower class white towns/communities, while getting my truck/trailer loaded/unloaded would scare lots of "sheltered whites". I also read their small town newspapers where available to show lots of my friends back in New Jersey. The crap going on in small, predominately white towns would shock a lot of people!

I agree with you. I've spent time in Kentucky, one of the states with over 85% of the population as White. Blacks were not angels, but a lot of the major and petty crime in the state stems from the drug trade. The drug trade maintain involves Meth and Heroine, drugs that create havoc in working-class, white communities. Just like ghetto African-Americans poison each other with drugs and organized gang violence, there are some working-class white communities in states like West Virginia and Kentucky that do the same thing. Black, white, Latino, Asian, crime and violence does not have a racial boundary and when we all can recognize our common struggles, then we can try improve the U.S. as a whole. However, it's easier for many people to blame others than to recognize their own flaws.
Until this country stops playing "THE RACE GAME" this country will never be as great as it could be. Blacks see whites as enemies. Whites see blacks as the enemy. Minorities, who come here are made to feel less than others who are here. Everyone here came from some where else. Yet, some think they have done more than others, but if you look at the real HISTORY of this country it was made from the BLOOD of all races. Not just a few who had the control. We need to unite as a great nation or we will FALL as a great nation! I know that other countries have to be looking at the USA and laughing at us for our race issues when we run over and tell them how to run their countries. It is sad beause we are not doing a good job HERE! No race is looking in the mirror and seeing the truth about themselves!
Another mentally ill person, mental illness is no respector of persons. That is why it upsets me, when Republicans, TEA partiers, Glenn Beck and some of the FOX commentators feed into it. Racism, religious fanatics, and mental illness are all related. A mentally healthy person, does not kill, discrimate against others, or disrepects others. I've worked with the mentally ill for over forty years, and have seen it played out in the mental institutions every day. Most of it seem to be based on fear, hate, insecurity, and a deep seated inferiority complex.
