I don't get these Occupy people, they should be protesting outside the White House. Take the Fannie and Freddie situation for example; the government is debating right now about giving these fat-cats another $13 million as bonuses to their failed executives. Where's the outrage from Occupy? There is none, thus it is not a legitimate movement! I can tell you right now, if everything was exactly the same accept for the fact that a Republican occupied the White House, these Occupy fleabags would be all over the place in Washington protesting the blatant and belligerent failings of our government.
How do you know Gary isn't ex-military or a retired police officer?
From your past posts about "Douchebaggers" and calling anyone of the right an idiot, it's easy to see where you stand.
Once again, people like Gary are offering to contribute to society, where low life parasites like you and OWS just want to take from it.
And you people portray yourselves as the moral and intellectual elites??
Yeah, because in every society the "elites" are the ones demanding handouts and freebies off the backs of others.
If you're so god damn insightful, sophisticated, cultured and educated, why can't even support yourselves without mommy government intervening on your behalf??
You people are PATHETIC and nobody wants you around anymore.
Okay, you are trying to make me laugh at your post, right?
Call me when you have a discussion on Newsvine, you know, the discussion newsgroup?
Or call me when the real conservatives show up. The ones who actually discuss things. Otherwise I have to slap the Douchebag Partiers, as usual, into the same miscreant group as PETA. You know, dog headed turkeys and all that. The kind of people who vote through religion as opposed to thought. Can't spend a lot of time with them, but they sure are great to make fun of.
Here's what's funny. They are protesting the income/wealth gap between the rich and the poor. But, how are they trying to close the gap? How much do you get paid for sitting in the street?
Even funnier ... you know those rich dudes they are protesting? Guess what they're doing. They are busy analyzing the effects of the protests on the market and the economy. They are investing their huge gobs of money on what they think will be affected by the protests, or shorting the stocks they think will be hurt.
I guarantee you they are not sitting and home moaning about the protests. They are using all their skills and knowledge to profit from current conditions.
Imagine that! People actually using their skills and knowledge to make money!
Occupy left wing Democrat party grassroots call for revolution , violence, anarchy , take over the streets. This is going to be like San Sebastian bull festival but OWS will play the bulls.
At least wait for the outcome from the 2012 election.
Why don't they occupy Soros as he is the one making all the money and trying to bring down our economy? Also, trace the collapse back to the Clinton admin mandating banks give home loans to unqualified buyers. Obama sued Citibank and got the whole thing started. Occupy Fannie and Freddie--they want another 8 billion, have spent $200 billion in bailouts and the people in charge have been given millions in bonuses. Any other place would have fired them. FYI
Thank you, Occupiers, for drawing attention to the fact that the gap between the haves and have-nots is at a level not seen since the Gilded Age. This seems okay to some people, but if the trend continues we'll be back to the feudalism of the Middle Ages. With more and more of the income being earned by the 1%, there's less to go around for everybody else. Just because you think something should be done about this, doesn't make you a Socialist or a Communist--it just makes you someone who thinks that there should be more fairness in income distribution, like there was 30 years ago. Of course, there's always those sycophants who are content to take the crumbs dropped off the rich people's tables, but that's not our tradition as Americans. We threw off the yoke of the most powerful country in the world, Great Britain, so we could live free. And we didn't do it so that we could grovel before multinational corporations.
Landoran, I'm ex military. Would it make it smart for me to agree with Gary? Nope, I agree with Derek, it is foolish to even say it. My guess is you are comfortably complaining on your couch and not doing anything to fix the sad state this country is in, but when someone does try you are quick to criticize. Maybe one day you won't be able to afford the internet access you are using today to post your opinion.
I am part of the 99%, I totally disagree with the OWS crowd. This whole sham is brought to us by the democratic party and the unions. This is America, everyone has the equal opportunity to join the 1%. I hope to get there someday myself. To all the protesters that think they are owed something, all I can say is, in the immortal words of the democratic leader of the House of Representatives, "go to hell".
What a mess! I'm waiting for the city to evacuate people. How smart a person can be, how stupid a mob is. These aren't the 99%, the people is 3rd world countries are! You think our country is messed up? What about places people get abducted, killed, beaten, and worse for no reason?? Get over it people. you don't have a purpose. They say it is so everyone can get involed. Well, now you have our attention, pick a purpose so we can end this craziness. Go get a job, become a lawyer, fight "The Man" but stop using our police who have more importent things to do. If you hate it here, go to Canada.....
The protest is everywhere, and they are protesting the status quo in Washington (there is an occupy group there too by the way). And they have protested bonuses to fat cats. Keep up.
Oscar
Nobody is calling for revolution, especially violent revolution. The only people I've seen calling for violent revolution are on the right. I've seen a number of right wing gun-toting bloggers who have crossed the line into treason. Anarchy? Where did that come from, certainly not from the OWS crowd. These are just protests, guaranteed by our constitution. Perhaps a bit inconvenient for the right, but true, legal and appropriate.
MAW, Soros is not trying to bring down the economy, not like the republicans who are willing to play brinkmanship with our whole society to get their agenda. Soros makes a lot of money (somethuing the right wing usually champions) but he also has a moral compass that points towards right and wrong, not profit and loss. He's just a bit smarter than you or I are.
JH, neither ther unions nor the democratic party had anything to do with OWS, regardless of what Rush and Sean have to say.
If any of you have a point, please don;'t make up stuff to support it. Use facts and the truth. It's very liberating. (liberating=free=liberal? You guys can't handle the truth!)
I'm ex-military too and any clown that would deny these people their right to protest or state their grievances regardless of the dumb communist BS they are advocating is a traitor and enemy to the country. NYPD can go to hell right alongside the clowns talking about volunteering.
You'll never be part of the 1% bud. None of us will. And the point is - no one should have that much wealth and dictate how our economy runs. They definitely shouldn't take the help from our government to get fatter paychecks and extra vacation houses and hold out their hand and ask for more. You can call them bums but I'm sure most are college students who will one day run our country and you want people like this fighting for our rights. Wallstreet has piged out and now it's time they pay for their meal!
The *reason* there's a growing gap, is the growing entitlement mentality this country is taking on under the current administration, and imbued into the younger generation by a well intentioned, but increasingly clueless society.
Go ahead... get rid of the free market, the competitive nature of a free republic... *give* everyone a piece of the action whether or not they merit it... while you're at it, why not spread around a few of those GPA points that you've worked your butt off for, and give the D students a shot, as well... it's only fair... While you're mowing your lawn next summer, or shoveling your driveway, this winter, do a few of your neighbors' as well... because they may not want to do it for themselves... And, that sweet new iPhone 4S you're tapping away on...? Well, pass it around to some of your less-fortunate Occupiers for a few hours... they probably blew their new-phone budget on something else, so you need to share yours... Perfect equality in all things... whether or not it's deserved... that's what it's all about...
After all, it's worked so well for Greece... Spain... Portugal... Italy... North Korea, Cuba... the former USSR... et al
Why are all of you FOX NEWS viewers and 1% sympathizers over here on this progressive forum?
Were all of you paid to come to this site and cheer the police - while they arrest our citizens for exercising their Constitutional Rights? If these protesters are not allowed to march - the day will come when some of you Right Wing Cowards want to march - and you will meet the same kind of oppression and police violence.
You call the progressives socialists and pinkos. However, in such societies the people cannot freely speak out. In your very faces you see injustice taking place and The GOP/Status-Quo folks cheer. It is the 1% and Right Wing that is mimicking tactics of give the citizens "no freedom."
The world is watching what is going on in New York.

My - Fox News has done a disgusting job of organizing you "freedom snatchers" that are here on this formum.
You are telling the Occupy Wall Street protesters to get jobs - although 14 million of our citizens are unemployed and cannot find jobs.
Why are all of you "hard working, industrialist pillars of the community" not working? Are you posting from your leather-back swivel chairs in your corner offices? Or are you in a Fox News room pleasing Rush Limbaugh with this UnDemocratic Garbage that you are dropping on this forum?
If you do not like what these protestors are fighting for - economic, political and social equality - leave!
Go back to a your Reactionary websites that protects and props up the 1% that has Massively Financially looted America and will continue to do so.
MSN the Fourth Reich, why do you collapse any and all anti OWS comments. Today is a great day to be a member of the NYPD. I guess the only comments allowed here are the ones that fall in (lock) step with the ultra-liberal agenda this site spews.
Here is the start of the problems of SOCIAL PROMOTIONS, NO ONE CAN LOOSE BECAUSE THEIR FEELINGS WILL BE HURT. From the start of the humans on this earth there has always been winers and loosers. Good example, If you are black and you want to learn something, you are to white. Wake up all of you stupid people. Your brain is your gold mine, the more you learn (honestly) the more you earn. Be cool and goof off and you deserve what you get. NOTHING. I am 83 and still learning, you never know enough. Those that think they do, are stupid. The you owe me, is what the stupid think. Be a Man or Woman and earn your way in life, or be a BEGGER FOR LIFE. The choice has always been yours. Most that complain are the beggers not the movers.
The issue that most have with the OWS crowd is not that they're protesting, but who they are protesting against, and who they are affecting most. Protesting Wall Street and other city's financial districts will do no good. Protesting at banks will do no good. Protest at the Capital building, protest at the White House, protest at your respective State Capital buildings...that's where the vast majority of the problems lie. When you protest Wall Street and Main Street, your so called '99%' are the ones who suffer.
What is happening now is simply anarchy at its finest. People running around in masks, dressing up as pixies...how cute. Put together a coherent list of what you want, and how you propose to get it done and then we can talk. Until then you are just a pain in the arse, and will continue to be ridiculed.
I have always respected their rights to free speech and assembly, but not at the expense of the rights of others. I dont agree with them, but I can respect what they are trying to accomplish
Why am I on this forum?.......because there's a first amendment, and you supercilious progressives don't have a monopoly on it. And, if you had the capability of actually understanding the constitution, you'd realize that the OWs are a relatively tiny group, and that the rest of us (an overwhelming majority) have an equal right to enter upon any public property without being detained or harassed by you and your whining comrades.
Its time for the big corp to give back to the people , not send all the jobs overseas ,and yea china number one in manafacturing because the corparations have invested with the chineese and not with the people of american , with all their money could it possible to solve the debit issue. This goverment and the fat cats in corp america are in cohots, and is selling america out. whats going to happen 20 yrs from now, WHAT HAPPEN TO THE MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE does anyone care about the future on our children. Well look are around you ,the dogs are doom are howling. most of the world would love to see america fall. GOD BLESS THE PROTESTERS
What on earth do they want? Most don't really even know. "We want equality of wealth... we want redistribution of wealth... we want this, we want that... we want what ""They"" have, etc..."
This is nothing other than the communist revolution of 1917 Russia. The Nobility and Czar to them are the corporations and banks? But what about the government? These Occupiers want the government to take from others and give to them? The entire premise of this BS movement is delusional.
They have complaints, well welcome to the world of every working American with whatever degree of success or wealth! We all have had "THE MAN's" foot on our throats whether through unreasonable taxation, regulation or government and corporate "social engineering" and other totally unfair practices. We worked within the system, took our lumps and made our intentions known through the process of our democracy. It is flawed but destroying everything is not the answer. I dare say that it's time for the OWS people to stop feelinbg sorry for themselves and make it happen for themslves instead but not this way, the wrong way.
Were all of you paid to come to this site and cheer the police - while they arrest our citizens for exercising their Constitutional Rights?
Your Constitutional Rights do not include trespassing on private property, blocking traffic, or trying to stem the flow of commerce. This "movement" has absolutely no clue how to accomplish their goals. Disrupting the work day of a few banking analysts amounts to what, now?
George Carlin hit the nail on the head when he said "they're all part of a big club and we aint in it" THAT is why you and me will never be one of the 1% that made it good.
PatriotMarine - In case you didn't notice, CCRyder's post was collapsed as well - and he obviously is not of a right-winged political persuasion, nor did his post remotely break CoH.
@JH-479998 - You obviously don't have a clue as to what is going on around you. There is little to no opportunity to get to the 1%. The system is rigged to keep them at the top and the rest of us out. A large amount of the money that is out there up for grabs is continually funneling to the top, leaving crumbs for the rest of the country. What happens when a few literally have all of the wealth? How are you going to get up there? On top of that, the top wage earners in this country pay little to no taxes which promotes them to hang on to every penny they get rather than continue to produce anything, products, goods, services, JOBS.
25walker-- you apparently have missed (what used to be and what I hope still is) required reading for 8th grade:
Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
I suggest you pick up a copy. Ditto to anyone who supports this disorganized morass of well-intentioned, but woefully misinformed OWS protesters.
You might also do well to take a class on the founding fathers, learn what "equality" Jefferson and the others were referring to in the declaration of independence. It did not, does not and was never intended to mean that you were entitled to a slice of the pie that you didn't earn, brother.
As Sun Tzu said in The Art of War: "know thy enemy." That's why I come here. If I am up-to date with the irrationality of the left, I am better prepared to defend the rest of us against the devastation of this country the left so urgently desires.
Restored some comments. Y'all are doing pretty good, with some exceptions:
You best sit back in that chair foo!
[...] Otherwise I have to slap the Douchebag Partiers, as usual, into the same miscreant group as PETA.
low life parasites like you
What Jerks you all are!
Derek-381097, you're two weeks off suspension. Avoid 'making fun' of other users - it keeps translating to #1 violations. You're suspended for a week for violating #1 of the Code of Honor.
The protesters should go to the heart of the 1% problem, the guys supporting the wealthiest like John Boehner, Eric Cantor & Mitch McConnell. Our founding fathers would spit on them for what they are doing to our Country. Also the Teatards in Congress like Joe Walsh hiding behind the GOP name should be prosecuted for treason and put in jail for deliberately sabotaging our Nation. "PROTESTERS should be marching their homes, than you will see them wake up." Trickle down is trickleup up up & away. The wall street clowns should be in jail for swindling life savings and retirement funds from hard working Americans, what they got was millions in bonuses. They should walk the "Plank". The Rich are not job creators, they are greedy tax dodgers who hide assets in overseas accounts. So much for job creation. Its all about them and the hell with America and the people that make it up.
Just off the YouTube OWS - one of the many pages or channels you can see protests of this so-called new world order be confronted around the world and video of Americans attempting to change the system I only partly describe below the entire system is corrupt. I truly believe this - that the whole system is totally rotten to the core. This president cannot do this alone and wilts he needs to buckle up maybe with a real congress he can fulfill "The Promise" - Does anyone remember? - THE PROMISE !!!!....CHANGE
Because Wall Street owns the congress it makes no sense to march on Washington the congress takes their orders and talking points from Wall Street and by Wall Street I refer to the financial sector in whole. So forget the congress just listen to the response of Senator Hatch to the request of the Millionaires for an Income Tax Increase this congress is in large part already in the pocket of the 1%. It is useless to ask for fairness from this congress made up of as reported 43% members with net worth of 8 million or more and the rest an average of $873,000 net worth as reported on CNN.
Newt Gingrich was paid $1.5 Million dollars by Freddie Mac to be a "historian consultant" a label that avoids the filing of paper work as a registered lobbyist. This for his very small corporation he set up and this was only from Freddie Mac who and what amounts did this "consultant" activity pay along with pay for speeches to select right wing organizations as "Americans for Prosperity" and "Freedom Works" "The Heritage Foundation", "The Free Enterprise Institute" and "the CATO Institute" for starters how much money was he paid to speak to these and other groups to promote their agendas via his "consultation" it begs an answer.
Follow the money trail as when Mitch McConnell Senator of Kentucky rushed off to Wall Street for a closed door secret meeting with Wall Street to get his marching orders and then rush back to capital hill to oppose "The Consumer Protection Agency" and only relented due to the tireless and unrelenting work of Ms. Warren. The agency could exist to protect you and I but she could not be the head of said agency that was Wall Streets major number one no give on this if we wanted such an agency.
The rest is history as we have a paper tiger of an agency thanks to the influence of the largest and most powerful lobby on capital hill that is the "The Financial Lobby". It is said between 5 to 10 lobbyist for each member of congress ready with lavish gifts in all forms to buy our government and if they break ranks McConnell has the threat of selecting a replacement and the infusion of massive amounts of money to unseat any Senator or Congress (House member) that does not walk in lock step with his proposals. Just look at how in perfect unison they vote hardly if ever even one vote different than the group. They are all paid off.
So to go Washington is useless the head of this snake is Wall Street the most powerful special interest that has bought America they own America. The Koch bros. are the public face for this shadow government and they as I say are only the public persona for this group of people such as the Coors family and many others that funnel money around and through the Koch bros Industries front groups as "Freedom Works" and all of he rest of very patriotic names many with Prosperity" and or "Freedom and or Liberty" in their names. It is all a ruse to fool and trick you that your interest is in alignment with theirs and the charade of all charades maybe we could call it "The Mother of All Charades" they certainly are a bunch of mothers.
I pay 35% as we have as a couple earned income less than $500,000 net taxable income under the proposed tax increase to where the promise to lower taxes and have "guns and butter" for the last eleven years has proved a disaster. I mean the promise was a temporary cut to 35% and back to the 39% rate and the President laid out the parameters of $250,000 net taxable income for an individual and $500,000 net taxable income for a couple.
The one percent 1% make money off of money and off-set losses against gains called NOL's via IRS tax code section 1031 among other tax deferral tax regulations and if they take the gains or income it is taxed as a "capital gain" at 15% and this is how Mr. Buffet showed the world his tax returns and how simple this is done. I think he said he did his own filing meaning he does his own tax returns it really is not that hard to do with decent inexpensive software as say "Turbo Tax" there are other software programs one may use as "Compucraft" etc.
Their main source of income is trading the loss is offset against gains and the interest income is taxed at 15% which is why Mr. Buffet pays 17% tax and I pay 35% and you probably pay 35% as I do. The dis-investment in America is the final slap in our faces after we bailed them out.
Goldman Sachs CEO was set to receive $100,000,000 that is one hundred million dollar bonus for all his hard work but I think has to take some as deferred the atrociousness was so egregious he had to back off the one hundred million in bonus money. Goldman Sachs took $125,000,000,000 one hundred and twenty five Billion tax payer money (bail out) because AIG defaulted and I am told took not one but two bail outs I thought is was only the $125,000,000,000 tax payer bail out money. None of this money has been paid back to you and I the tax payer and yet the CEO Lloyd Blankfein was all set to get his $100,000,000 one hundred million dollar bonus and not one penny not pay a cent back to the tax payer that bailed them out.
The CEO of CountryWide made almost half a billion from 2001 till forced out in 2007 or 2008. The story of this greatest larceny in human history would take take up twice the space and make you sick to hear of how you have been robbed and the larceny continues with the 1% paying less than half in taxes than the "average Joe" the average middle class tax payer and that is why, one of the major reasons there is an OWS movement there is no upward mobility and a bogus govenment in Washington.
The government is a government of and for the rich the 10% and especially the 1%. They do not create jobs just look at the last eleven years net job loss and the lowest job creation of any president since Hoover is the greatest legacy of Bush Jr.
This is too much I have real work to do you figure it out I recommend "Naked Capitalism" and "Boomarang" as two good books detailing the persons as John Paulson now a Billionaire of Goldman Sachs (not the other Billionaire Hank Paulson) that promoted the investment in mortgage backed securities and shorted that which he hailed as a great investment to you.
The end result is he is now a Billionaire walking around free as a bird, a very rich bird a "bird of prey" you are the target, and you have lost or your pension fund the initial investment all wiped out. Lets end now the story only gets worse not better and now the Tea-Baggers tamper with "The Trust and Good Faith" of investment in financial instruments of America. OK, fine lower our world credit rating and watch those interest rates raise to new heights. For now as even France we are seeing along with the collapse of Greece hit the stock market we could be watching the beginning of a world recession. The printing presses of the world's central banks are running 24/7 and economics or if you prefer "monetary economics" as that of the Chicago School of Economics it was once called. The guru being Milton Friedman indicates that we cannot not keep pumping money into the system to keep it sound without an round of inflation But Bernake says don't worry of inflation it is de-flation he is worried about. More smoke and mirrors we are so involved with the CDS around the world as that which broke, they are bankrupt i.e. Iceland and I believe Ireland, thanks to the CDS investments in mortgage backed ..... forget it you do some work...I feel you won't notice anything until the financial roof falls on your head and then maybe you will wake up from your slumber.
Good Night Sweet Dreams...........
PS: I hear Mitt Romney is doubling his mansion the size to 14,000 square feet plus. I maybe off a thousand feet but what a time to expand the size of his mansion. Are you expanding the size of your mansion? Romney has a reported net worth of about $18 million not all that much but he wants to be president and earn $500,000 per year why would he do that? A call to Public Service? I do not think so?
What exactly do these protestors wish to accomplish?
In the 60's we marched to stop the Vietnam War. That was a defined goal.
Do these guys have a defined goal, or is it scattershot, where they wish to overthrow the entire government, kind of like the Russian Revolution of 1915?
So we have Rush Limpballs saying the blood on one protester was probably fake--ketchup or something, and Bill O'Really and the rest of FOX Noise saying OWS is finished, and Representative King saying the movement is just a bunch of dirty drug users and sex offenders...
Billo, there were thousands just in New York alone, but on the anniversary today protests took place in all 50 states. And did FOX Noise bother to cover this, showing footage of retired police, New York officials, religious leaders, union leaders, etc. who were arrested along with OWS protesters -- The protesters from all ages, all races, and all walks of life? Did you report this Bill O'Really?
Maybe OWS will add, along with the Glass-Steagall Act, to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine:
The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, that required the holders of broadcast licenses to both present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was, in the Commission's view, honest, equitable and balanced. The FCC decided to eliminate the Doctrine in 1987, and in August 2011 the FCC formally removed the language that implemented the Doctrine.[1]
We are so done with propaganda from FOX Noise and Hate Radio -- Yeh sure Papa Bear (you pinhead), OWS is finished, riiight. More like it is just getting started. Today was the beginning of Phase Two with listed demands. I hope the next step is to start naming names:
Who are the criminals on Wall Street that should do the perp walk? How about the politicians who are in cahoots with Wall Street, Big Oil, and insurance companies and Big Pharma? And don't forget the corporations that are sitting on piles of cash while receiving tax breaks despite the off-shoring of American jobs. And lest we forget, the scam that is the military industrial complex that have stolen large amounts of tax payer dollars. It's a long list, but let's name names!
Ray Lewis: Retired Philadelphia police captain arrested with Occupy Wall Street

Retired Philadelphia police captain Ray Lewis was arrested early this morning in New York City after taking part in an Occupy Wall Street demonstration….

The world is watching what is going on in New York.
-------- What is the SIGNIFICANCE of these Word-wide OWS demonstrations?------ Prophetic words by Tom Friedman, the famous journalist with “The New York Times” are. “Now let me say that in English: the European Union is cracking up. The Arab world is cracking up. China’s growth model is under pressure and America’s credit-driven capitalist model has suffered a warning [major] heart attack and needs a total rethink. Recasting any one of these alone would be huge. Doing all four at once — when the world has never been more interconnected - is mind-boggling. We are again present at the creation - but of what?
[ Never in the history of modern man has such a global event ever happened ]
As for America, we’ve thrived in recent decades with a “credit-consumption-led economy”, whereby we maintained a middle class by using more steroids (easy credit, subprime mortgages and construction work) and less muscle-building (education, skill-building and innovation). It’s put us in a deep hole, and the only way to dig out now is a new, hybrid politics that mixes spending cuts, tax increases, tax reform and investments in infrastructure, education, research [innovation] and production. But that mix is not the agenda of either party. Either our two parties find a way to collaborate in the center around this new hybrid politics, or a third party is going to emerge — or we’re stuck and the pain will just get worse”. ----
Actually we are citizens who get our news from a variety of sources and think for ourselves. I happen to agree with many of the gripes that many of the OWS crowd voices, but their methods seem to be becoming very counter productive. You don't get people to take you seriously by breaking down barriers and "re-taking a park". This is ridiculous and childish behavior and keeps this movement from being taken seriously.
When I was in college, these are the kids who didn't want to go to class and had contempt for any kind of authority (it didn't matter what it was). It was easier to just bitch about the way things are/were than it was to do something CONSTRUCTIVE to try to change them. Now they are older and trying to re-take Zucotti Park. The time has come to just charge them all with criminal trespassing and throw them in jail.
I believe the main theme of Occupy Wall Street and the greater movement is to bring awareness to the class issues we see today so that America will wake up and do something about the corruption and greed in our system.
Why is that so hard to understand? How do we get there? I believe we need to get the money out of politics. All sides. A politician should be paid their salary and not be allowed to accept campaign donations at all, ever, for anything.
Is it logical to fight corruption and greed with lawlessness and anarchy?! These people are just protesting one set of bad behavior with another. That wont win them any public support, and without public support they have virtually NO power. They had a good thing going with all the publicity, but their own destructive tendencies caused them to p_ss it away.
25 Walker - it is amusing to read your nonsense and get a view of the 'world you live in'. Clearly, anyone with a differing point-of-view than you is the problem. In your world no one can have a differing opinion, that seems to me to be a bit unusual for someone who is so FOR free speach no? You clearly don't realize the reason they are being 'arrested' is they are breaking laws. The laws they are breaking has NOTHING to do with free speach, but in your mind it does. If anyone is tresspassing, impeding traffic or something similar, guess what they will get arressted.
I also don't recall needing to buy a membership to this 'progressive' website? Did I miss that somewhere? Do point it out. Did you ever stop and think that you are in the minority with your extreme opinions? Did you ever think that people watch all the news programs that report news and even watch the 'opinion' segments that state peoples 'opinions' then they come up with their own thoughts and opionions? I'm guessing no, I would think you have never watched Fox news you probably just throw back what is on the 'liberal media'. Yes, the opion portions of Fox news is more conservative and the opion segments on MSNBC are quite liberal. All of those reporting their 'opinion's think they are correct. Neither one is really 'wrong' as they are opinions.
Thankfully, the world you live in is not shared by the majority of Americans who know how to think, how to know the difference between opinion and news and know how to digest it all and come up with their own beliefs.
I'm not in the 1% and I doubt anyone posting on here is, so you see you and the OWS claim to represent the 99% yet I know not a single person who thinks the behavior of the OWS with their clouded message is proper behavior. WE recognize they have their right to express their opions through 'free speach' but beyond that 'breaking laws', making threats, etc etc are not really shared by us.
Most in my circles agree that Washington is THE problem. You know where Washington is correct? Take out a map and locate it, then google it and learn that is where our 'laws' are made (or not made) by our Government. Learn some basic facts about the 3 branches of Government, learn about the House of Reps, the Senate, the President and the Supreme Court. Learn that ALL of our laws are made there by BOTH parties. My 'opinion' is BOTH parties are corrupt and owned by BIG MONEY. So if the OWS groups ALL went to DC to protest in masses, they would probably gain A LOT of support. Instead of complaining about Wall Street, Banks, Corporations, their loans, their poor educations, etc, they should focus on ONE message to the law makers in DC that BIG MONEY does not belong in DC.
Of course, I predict you will dismiss everything I have said (if you even got this far) and just resort to name calling and an assortment of other tactics exhibited by people like you who don't share your 'opinion'. Thankfully, 98% of people on here can at least see right throuh people like you and those similar to you.
Has any major political change EVER happened without VIOLENCE?
Unemployment is now at 15%, real total, (40 Million?) and it will soon out number the National Guard and the regular Army --- and these will not shoot anyways at their own families and other civilians ---( only the, totally out numbered, “Police” might do so initially.)
In a few years the US will break-up and the “States” will be run by Street-gangs and Country-gangs, which you might have to join to feed your family.--- Most of the readers here have never seen REAL violence, which is apparently needed to bring about any significant CHANGE in our country.
What is our (rather your) DA president doing while all these rowdy, misbehaving, child clowns are throwing temper tantrums in the streets and here on on newsvine.
These fools are doing exactly what Omaba wants: to use chaos to give him the excuse to declare the country under martial law so he can become the socialist dictator of the world.
What a joke this guy Obama is. He would be comical if not for his sinister intentions.
You are looking at the "bullies" - but you are too obtuse to to correctly interpret what you are seeing.
Look at how brutishly our citizens are being treated - for exercising their 1st Amendment Rights.
I give you a picture of "bullying:"
Here is the GOP/Tea Party bully political platform:
No Social Security, no Medicare, no Medicaid, no voting rights, no minimum wage, no planned parenthood, no E.P.A. no U.S. Department of Agriculture - Maui2 - this platform is "bullying."
A lot of the people who post on here can spell too. Do you even read what you write?
The Occupy movement is aware that laws are purportedly made in Washington, however, by your own admission, they are merely the puppets of BIG MONEY. And where is that BIG MONEY most apparent? Say it with me - Wall Street. Huh? Imagine.
And, by the way, how can one tresspass on property that is allegedly open to the public?
I agree, everyone deserves to exercise their 1st ammendments. But IF these OWS act like kids and start tantrums...... expect to be treated like kids and not adults. Plain simple.
What the hell they accomplished within 3 months? No clear message, no clear goals. 3 meals a day, socialize all day and protest. No work, no resposibilities. Must be nice.
They already raised 500,000 already. So food, clothes, and other living expenses is no worry for these people.
And the only message I'm getting out of these kids are the large income gap between rich and poor, poor job market and student loans forgiven for little work. Welcome to reality. They can't expect to drop 60-100k in student loans at the most prestigious universities, earn a BS degree in Art, Philosophy or Basketweaving and expect 75k straight out of college. They do not want to start at the bottom. They could have easily went to a community college then transfer at a fraction of the cost but choose not to.
25walker, try reading a little bit about what the Conservatives want and how they put it before the people. It is apparent you don't read anything except the propaganda put out by the Progressives. I read and listen to both. That way I have something to base a rational opinion on rather than emotion and adrenaline. You have a right to your opinion, you don't have the right to force others to conform to that opinion. That is what you are trying to do. The only thing you are promoting is hate, envy and destruction of the very system that allows you to put out your opinions. Just being able to drown out the opinions of others does not make yours workable.
Wagbear, it is private property which is available to the public only under the limits placed on it by the owners. It was a small portion of land, attached to a larger property, that was too small and too badly located to build on but still needed to be taxed. The owners and the city agreed to create a park maintained by the owners, available to public use with certain restrictions in order to reduce a tax that served no purpose for the owners and a potential problem area for the city. It was a solution that was beneficial for the city, the owners and the general public. The owners have been paying for maintenance of the park well above any actual return for many years and you and your cohorts have made it a disaster zone in order to have a temper tantrum.
Seems to me a good plenty of you need to Read Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience". A conscientious citizen has an obligation to resist unjust laws. Any law, regulation, or policy that infringes on "the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances", is an unjust law. I for one am proud of these people who are standing up and who are courageously standing up to the police intimidation. They are brave and are doing something, rather than p!ss!ing and moaning like I hear far too many long-retired old grumpy men doing in coffee shops and long grocery store lines.
There was another comment on here that probably none of the people posting are in the 1%. Dont be so sure. Theres 300 million of us in this country. That means that about 3 million are in the 1%. The 1%ers are the ones making 250K or more a year. Whenever you go to a big game, or anyplace with a big crowd, on average, 1 out of every 100 will be a 1%er.
Id love to know all of you who are calling these people who are protesting "hippies, lazy, hooligans, kids, without a message, looking for handouts" etc...
Who are you? What do you do for a living? Are you retired? Are you a banker? A business owner..? Someone who just doesnt care about the fact that the middle class has been decimated either because you already got your own, and you dont want anyone tipping over your La-Z-Boy and daily regimen of 1970s reruns, or you are smug in the safety of your own big fat paycheck? Have you ever had a hand in layoffs? As in carrying them out? Who ARE you people? Because you cant be the ones who had your retirement wiped out, or the ones trying to live on 24K a year, or the ones who have been unemployed for over a year with a small corner office full of resumes and little to no response. You certainly are not one of the ones with a college degree, with a big debt and no jobs.
So.. come on out and tell us who you are. Because you clearly arent feeling the pain that the VAST majority of the rest of us are.
You ask, 'Has any major political change ever happened without violence?' Sure. It just doesn't make very good copy for the bomb throwers. George Washington stepped down after two terms as President. You may have heard of him. He was the first President of the United States. In a world full of despots, kings, and chieftains he simply said it was time for someone else to lead. You probably don't know it but that was unheard of at the time. That's called leadership. It was a huge political change without violence.
Since then, around the world, there have been thousands of petty national governments rising and falling under the watch of the violent, unthinking, ignorant mobs. If any of these mobs had any idea how a country or economy works their changes would have lasted. But they didn't. The next mob came along and followed the example of how to bring about change. Mobs don't actually learn from their mistakes, as we can see.
So do not think violence is necessary. It is a tool some select. Some don't. Our country has lasted all this time (how many are older than the United States?) because we have had truly great Founders. When people strayed from the path we had the Civil War. You may have heard of it. It was in all the newspapers at the time. As it turns out, people frequently are against war.
Please don't be so smug about violence. It is a last resort, not a first. And, on a personal note, I wonder how many times you have held your best friends intestines in your hands as they died.
Violence is only cool when it happens to someone else.
pacosperson: spot on! Those abdicating violence have never truly experienced violence and the aftermath of violence. If they have and they continue to espouse violence then they are nothing but sociopaths, lacking a moral compass, lacking compassion and seeking ghoulish gratification.
If the aim of the OWS is violent overthrow of the government or destruction and murder of those whom they deem 'rich' then they should be shunned. To espouse violence as the means to an end is never justified except as self defense. Physical self defense, not some vague threat or as a means of redress for some perceived wrong.
Please read the post before responding. I mentioned Washington as the prime example of leadership and political change. Washington knew all about violence and his stepping aside with honor indicates he could actually apply his knowledge. That's a rarity today. And it was exactly as I said; "a huge political change without violence."
Of course the American Revolution was violent. Why would you add a question mark? But you must remember it was not fought by rabble. It had leaders and thinkers we still honor today, with justification. The OWS people cannot run three sentences together without saying, 'Ya know'. How many OSW people would face a British musket at close range? Few.
Harry asked if any political change had occured without violence. I responded with an example beyond argument. Violence is a choice.
But when the Tea Party took to the streets... that made them Patriots. Can you see the irony? Oh wait.. that's right. Teabaggers only see it as it suits them best.
The Tea Party did not try to obstruct people from working, close legal businesses nor throw unknown fluids in the faces of law enforcement agents. They got permits, protested./gathered lawfully for a limited/set amount of time & then went home. This is a rabble with no clear goals obstructing, harming & destroying. All this with no clear goal/plan in mind just demands. Go home! This woman is technically part of the 99% but no way do you or these other people represent me.

Blue Veiner - and I would expect your crap from a sociopath that enjoys the ability to oppress people and who take great delight in firing workers - for parting their hair on the wrong side.
You are a Reactionary Backwards sociopathic Ayn Rand Fool!
Thank god I finally found some people who are against this Occupy band wagon. Anyone can form a list of grievences which one or two apply to the general population and then push the agenda for the others. They are trying to destroy the American Dream. I see constantly people complaining that they have a degree and can't find work but look at the details. You can't get a degree in art and then look for a job in a manufacturing based community. You have to plan your life decisions in accordance with the region you choose to live in. I am the 99% but you know what I will work my ass of to educate myself and WORK HARD at my current positions to become the 1%. I am grateful that the 1% is there to give me something to work for. After all it's not them thats causing my taxes to increase it's the abundance of low lifes who CHOOSE not to work that has this country in a state of turmoil.
But when the Tea Party took to the streets... that made them Patriots. Can you see the irony? Oh wait.. that's right. Teabaggers only see it as it suits them best.
Moron.
Oliverb,
And the Gun-Toting Tea Rats were called "Patriorts."
25Walker?! YOU ARE AN IDIOT! There is absolutely no comparison of the NY police to those in Syria, Libya, China, and most of all IRAN! You are the kind of person that calls people you don't like Nazi's. That was a truly ignorant/stupid comment!
These people are Socialists and need to be corraled and re educated before they are allowed to mingle with Society
What you really mean is ... These people need to be put in front of a TV and have them watch FAUX News. Your idea then is that this will turn them into mindless Republicans and teabaggers that only and blindly support the GOP agenda.
People want to blame the banks and the corps for everything that is going on but meanwhile its everyones fault that doesn't stay engaged or who don't stay on top of things. Give someone your money and it will burn a hole in thier pocket. Work or invest in a company whos policies you don't agree with and the company gets out of control. It starts with all of us. Things can only grow one way - from small to big, so its best to stop it right away if. People have to stop blaming everything on someone or something else - when really it was thier own laziness that got us here. We need to take responsibility for ourselves, readjust our behavior & attitudes and it will all get better on its own... There I said It!!!
Easy... I am not out there with the rest of the morons because I am not a member of the Tea Party. I have a brain.
Now you... How come you cannot be objective like a normal person can be? Another one... How come you only believe what FAUX NEWS tells you? Another one... Why do you support the teabaggers and label them as patriots, and criticize those who do not agree with you?
The reason you do not see a comparison - is because your Right Wing leaning Behind is Politically Blind.
You see what you "want to see."
Syria, Libya, China, Iran - and since your are clearly annoyed - I will add the former Iraq - all oppress or oppressed their citizens for speaking out. Do you remember Tiananmen Square, the mustard Gassing of the Iraq people, Muammar Gadafi's Goon Squads?
You probably get your biased news from Rush and Bill O'Reilly.
What an Igronrant Backwards "Donkey" you are.
You are advocating your country's downfall and the annilihation of your very existence.
I never stated one view of mine. You have absolutely no idea what I believe. Your rants and huge assumptions speak clearly on the fact that you can't articulate a single well-formed thought. You are a senseless ranter as evidenced by your extensive posts in which you call everyone names! Get off the net and take your meds. BTW, I'm not annoyed, I'm LMAO right now!
P.S. Don't worry, I'll let you have the last word- I know you need it!
It is amusing to watch the OWS supporters try to compare organized/peaceful protests with the TEA party protests. I mean honestly, OWS has had arrest after arrest after arrest, they fail to follow 'basic' ordinances/laws. Instead we hear that the TEA party was touting 'guns'...really? As I recall that happened in a state that allows it's residents to openly have guns. Translation, no laws were broken. Simply because you don't like guns, does not make them illegal. What makes a gun illegal is 'owning' it illegaly, not having it licenses or any variation in between.
So lets compare, BOTH the TEA PARTY and OWS have their 'freedom of speach', and NEITHER was restricted. What is restricted of the OWS crowd is simply camping out and/or temporarily living in public/private areas. They are 'free' to have their opinions.
The 2 'intelligent' posters above (sarcasm) that are trying to compare police in this country with that of Syria or Iraq or 'insert other country' are laughable. People are not being arrested for having opposing views, they are being arrested for breaking ordinances/laws which again, NOT one of the TEA party members ever broke. You see, the liberal media who reported daily on the TEA party by finding the 'one person' who was racist, or the 'one person' who was legally carrying a gun did not ever report on ANYONE being arrested. I wonder why that is? I mean one would think if anyone was arrested, the fair liberal media would have had it as headline news 24/7 correct? Oh right, again, no one was every arrested at a TEA party protest. I would say if the TEA Party decided to pitch tents and live in filth for 2 months, they too would have been arrested.
Then the 2 'rational' posters above (sarcasm) fall to blaming Fox news for God knows what? Now if you want to talk about the 'opinion' segments of 'fox news' which as the title states is OPINION that is one thing, you know fox opinion shows are more conservative. Contrast that with MSNBC OPINION programs with Keith Oberman (or whatever his name is) and Rachael Maddow who have 'their opinions' and you should see their opions are quite liberal. So of the 2 extreme news outlets with their OPINION programs, both lean in the direction that should be evident. The news reporting for either 'should be' just news being reported so please give us one example of how either is reporting in an opinionated way? Doubtful you can provide examples.
I mean if you think Bill O'Reilly or 'Rush' are 'news' then that would be your first mistake, you see they are OPINION. Do you FAIL to see the difference? Let me explain in less complicated words. They take current events and/or news stories and report THEIR OPINIONS ON THEM. Again, MSNBC does the same thing with their beloved Keith Olberman (or whatever his name is) and their beloved Rachael Maddow. I've watched ALL OF THEM and I go in knowing it is THEIR OPINION on a current news story. You clearly seem to think they are reporting 'news' when they are reporting a 'news story' with their opinion about it. Also, if you ever stopped to watch all 4 of those mentioned above, you would know that Bill O'Reilly AT LEAST will have on 2 people for many topics to report for/against it...both have their opinion and of course bill leans towards the more conservative opinion (usually but NOT always) while if you watch Keith and Rachael the ONLY thing they do is spout off about their opinion with no opposing view point. Again, watch all 4 and get back to us.
It is laughable that people like the '2 above' exist and really think they way they do. They with no facts or anything for that matter, label you as GOP, TEA PARTY, Fox news 'watcher' simply for NOT agreeing with 'their opinion'. Personally, they are entitled to their opinion but their opinion looses just about all credibility when they attack anyone with a differing view.
In ending, I'm an independent, I have voted for both DEMS in my life and REPS. I never voted for BUSH and yet I never voted for OBAMA. I have watched fox news, msnbc, cnn and everything in between. I listen to their 'news' and now and then even the 'opinion' programs. I fully understand the 'opinions' are just that and dont' go off on some rant because I don't agree with their opinion. Perhaps you should take a step back and look in the mirror to see who is really open minded....apparently it is neither one of you.
I'm amazed at you well thought out rebuttal to all who have a different opinion from yours. You command of the facts and their ramifications is astounding! Your counter points are simply to brilliant for those who disagree to understand. You must have a Ph.D. in Public Speaking. I bow to your superior Intellect.
P.S. Don't worry, I'll let you have the last word- I know you need it!
jenlee - The name calling started with you and your Right-Wing Crowd.
What you believe in is clear - injustice.
Ignorant and politically backwards folks like you NEVER want to hear the truth or face the facts.
Thus a factual presentation of the clobbering of America by the 1% are called "rants."
If you really want to hear senseless and skewed rants and lies - turn on Rush and O'Reilly.
You do not have any facts to refute what I have stated.
Therefore, you dodge the substance of the Occupy Wall Street protesters and their supporters by attempting to "diagnose" them and medically "pick them apart."
What medical school did you go to, Jenlee?
No medical school would have you - especially a Veterinarian medical training program - as they are even tougher to get into.
If you and you ilk want to trample on the U.S. Constitution - expect to be challenged.
Now you can go back and slink into your corner office - and think of the next Big Grand Theft that Wall Street and your ilk are planning for America.
Your statements are short because you do not have any legal or moral facts to support your DUMB positions. You do not stand on the Truth
By supporting your own country's demise and your very existence - Jenlee, makes you suicidal.
It is you who should take your medication - and only God knows how BADLY you need them.
drc-2890368 Both of your above posts are fantastic !!!! You need to run for office I not only would vote for you but I am willing to run the campaign please consider we need people like you in office you get it and understand what REAL Americans are thinking not these lunatic fringe clowns on both sides. I enjoy your posts they are well thought out and well written. I just had to tell you. Thank you for being an American.
As a jaded observer of politics since the 1960's, I get a kick out of all of you.
Anarchists? Read up on the early 1900's. Nazi's? Read up on the 1930's. Communism? Read up on the 1950's. Quit throwing terms around which you do not understand.
Socialism? Socialism is not a dirty word. It is an economic system.
Many of the protestors are simply hangers-on and haven't a clue what they are protesting. Just like in the 60's.
Why work when you can live off Mom & Dad's money and if they were smart enough to have kicked you out so that you could become a responsible individual, you learned to live off the government. Either way, they've learned well from the rest of the welfare scum.
Sure, thy are just lazy. Shucks, I'm sure there is 20 million jobs out in our country, if they just look. You know, all those $9 an hour jobs. Or they could all move to S. Dakota, where there are what? Probably not even cover 1% of those who need work.
What about all those people in their fifties, that did everything right, but their 401ks were robbed (remember, it isn't illegal for your congressman to do any insider trading), and then were laid off, and replaced by someone who is less than half their age, and has no clue what they are doing.
Yeah, those people are just lazy. Who cares that they can't get a job, right? They didn't work hard enough, or know the right people, right?
You have no clue what you speak of. You have no clue just how many people that are protesting an who they are.
Look up Supreme Court Justice Karen Smith (retired), and find the newest article that mentions her. You can also read how she witnessed a woman take a baton to her head, simply for asking if she can go find her daughter. But I guess she was asking for it, right? You can't ask cops a question without being met with ILLEGAL BRUTALITY. The same brutality that the military wouldn't use in another country.
Since when does courage and conviction equal lazy? This movement has succeeded by changing the public discourse. I admire their willingness to stand for what they believe in. To speak out when so many remain silent - something every bit as American as apple pie.
the fact is they are holding a city hostage and no one is doing a thing about it. by the way tim... they employ overseas because our government is taxing them out of business. oh and american-1155823 the people running the protest don't even know what is going on so i would call that crazy. if they are not being paid by someone then they must have nice trust funds to be able to be out there protesting all this time. no they are making threats........they don't represent anyone but themselves. that is what america is all about you don't choose who represents you but are chosen.
Actually they do. They're teachers and professors and students who are skipping class for a worthy cause. They are simply reflecting and voicing what we all talk about and are mad about, but don't take to the streets about.
The Lazy are the 1% that STOLE Billions from the Investors, "Intended" Retirees and through fraudulent lending practices - threw Millions of Americans home owners - out of their homes.
Corporate America are working Chinese for $3.00 per day..that should tell everyone on how they operate..they want most Americans on minimum wage, sorry State of Affairs.......LAZY, has nothing to do with it..greed has NO principles....
Yes even in here in the laid back capital of the world American citizens are finally getting to work knocking down this police state run by the 1% for the 1% - I have to run to make some money to yes pay my taxes and I do not mine paying said taxes this a country for all Americans not just for those that only pay 15% to 17% tax on their income as Mr. Buffet showed the world how he does it.
Some still and never will understand they are the mindless drones of their masters their keepers and masters.
"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent". Thomas Jefferson. It is our right and duty in America to stand up and speak out at the injustice happening all around our country. I am in my fifties and have held a job since I was 15. I am currently employed and own a home. I attend these protests and rallies because I cannot sit back and watch the middle class disappear. The generation before me fought so hard to help create the middle class and made things better for me. I believe it is my responsibility to do the same for the next generation (my son, my nephews) and for those who struggle to make ends meet, who have lost their jobs by no fault of their own, and those who worked all their lives and lost their homes to forclosure.
says: EDUCATE THE PEOPLE --- The Revolution has just begun ---....
You spend too much time reading OWS propaganda. People like you think anytime a police officer enforces law and order it is brutallity. Time for a reality check, the OWS group are commotting crimes including rape and drug offences and should be treated as such. Not much of that at the RNC or Tea Party rallies.
In my paper “The Great American Nightmare” I am quoting seven famous CEOs who are certainly good men, but will these “few good men” ever do anything to help their country. At this time they haven’t even hinted at a remedy, but have all been preaching that the main reason for the collapse of our economy is the FATAL problem of a HUGE Foreign Trade Deficit. We can’t manufacture “trade goods” for the World anymore, simply because wages for workers and engineers are several times lower in other countries. “Outsourcing” will soon have "deindustrialized" our Nation. And there is no remedy for this if we are relying on the century’s old and outdated theory of Adam Smith, (“The Wealth of Nations” 1766), with its “Invisible hands”. His theory worked well for centuries and became the standard in business schools in the US. Ironically, it is just this theory which now causes the “deindustrialization” of our nation. The term “Invisible hands” refers to a method by which the “business community” itself initiates and controls economic growth by their own motives of “maximizing profits” and a “strong bottom-line”. (Some say it’s a euphemism for Greed and grabbing Power) It is a rare CEO or stockholder who has “job-creation” as part of his motives. “Wages” for jobs have always been just a necessary evil while making profits. Since in today’s Global economy wage differences between nations are substantial a US business, to be competitive, needs to “outsource” which then eliminates existing jobs and ends job creation. This has actually been extremely profitable for US-business, substantially increasing the number of millionaires, but made the “Labor Unions” powerless. Our Government has to step in now to replace the Union, but according to Adam Smith’ theory it can’t interfere at all; it is only to make capital availability for the (very visible) “greedy hands of business”. --- Adam Smith’ Economy is like cans of “Instant Fish” (just add water)
“CREATIVE” solutions and new kinds of “Skunk-Works” are needed to create COST/PERFORMANCE breakthroughs; innovations which use Prof. Christensen’s “Disruptive /Enabling” technologies to produce “Trade-goods” for the Global markets to pay back our dept. None of the present multi Billion dollar Keynesian spending programs have been targeted for this. Instead we are borrowing even more Billions just to generate temporary jobs in the non-trade-able sectors of the economy, such as work on roads and bridges etc, etc, which generate no trade-goods. In a healthy economy this might be “praiseworthy”, but in our extremely sick economy it only provides illusion of recovery (only good for covering the next election.). Only price-worthy Trade-goods will allow us to put our people back to work again permanently with acceptable wages.
25, you're only makes arses out of yourselves. This has gone on long enough, you're not doing any good whatsoever, you're only disrupting the lives of 99% of the population who could care less about what you have to say.
Sorry, you are the 1% that's in the way of the 99% trying to get on with their daily lives. It's pretty childish to simply not move on and to keep kicking and screaming like a 2 year old simply to get noticed.
Yes, we are saying to go get jobs. 14 million may be without jobs but I really don't feel sorry for anyone that sits in a park for 3 months making no effort to contribute to society. No one knows what you're protesting anyway. Best I can tell is you are mad that some people have more money than you and you'd like them to take it out of their pocket and put it in yours despite the fact that you're unwilling to work for it. The best idea you could come up with is to sit outside a building and wait for these people to hand you money until you're financially equal to them. If you went to college, it sounds like you probably chose the wrong major and more than likely paid too much for said major. I'm an engineer and will never have trouble finding work. I'm also willing to go where the jobs are should I ever lose mine. I take responsibility for my own situation in life unlike many of the OWS protesters. Keep yelling that anyone that doesn't support your silly protests is "politically blind" or a "freedom snatcher" but we're the ones that are smart enough and valuable enough to be employable. We make contributions to society rather than forcing public resources such as police and fire departments to deal with you rather than help actual people in need. I hope the OWS protesters are sent a bill for their services.
Now if the lazy bum conservative/Patriots would get off there butts, and do the same, maybe we could save our republic from the socalist/communists. However, they would prefer to hide behind a computor monitor, or a boob tube, and wait for it to be all over. Well, you can bet your boob tube, that is WILL be all over in a short time. Then even the lefties will be crying in their soup.
Now if the lazy bum conservative/Patriots would get off there butts, and do the same, maybe we could save our republic from the socalist/communists. However, they would prefer to hide behind a computor monitor, or a boob tube, and wait for it to be all over.
porschemirror, kind of like you're doing, right? Point the finger and what do you have? Three pointing back at you.
And look how far the Republicans want to shove America to the Right.
No Social Security for our retirees, no Medicare for our seniors, Medicaid for the poor, no voting rights for our citizens, no minimum wage for our workers, no Planned Parenthood for our women, no unions for our employees, no U.S. Department of Education for our children, no Environmental Protection Agency for our health, no funding for the Arts for learning, no National Public Radio for education.
Anyone who agrees with this UnDemocratic Fascist Agenda is UnAmerican.
I can say tea party. And I do! If these idiots had any brains THEY would join up with the tea party. Instead of trying to get stuff for nothing. But they dont want to work.
OWS = Slackers. If they spent this much time & energy being productive, the USA would be a powerhouse. Instead, they whine about what they don't have (and haven't worked to deserve). I am in the 99%.
25 Walker, we would be happy to refute your facts when you provide any. To date you have only rambled on your opinions.
Fact - Social Security needs to be reformed, period. The money was taken out of the SS trust funds many years ago and stuffed with IOU's in order to 'balance the budget'. Go research who did this and report back to us. The budget was balanced and Washington continued on its merry wasy spending more money (both parties) because by spending money they buy your vote. But I digress, so there is not enough money to fund SS through a certain your because there are too many people that will be taking out of a system that not enough people pay into. The money that was in the trust that was there to pay them, WAS TAKEN BY THE GOVERNMENT and replaced with the aformentioned IOU's. So, there is no option but to reform the system. This is not a system I like, I would prefer to have NO money taken out and invest it myself or save it myself or do what I wish with it. So the options are to raise the retirement age for those under the age of 50. So the LIES that Grandma will have her SS cut is just that, a LIE. Any changes would apply to those under a certain age and the changes would most likely be the raising of the retirement age. FACT: When SS was started, the retirement age was not much below the average life expectancy, so the system was never really designed to pay people for decades. With the advance of Medicine people live longer, A LOT longer. Now We know you probably hate the medical industry, Drug Companies and such, but they are the ones who took chances in life to invent things and test things to keep you living longer. Now that people live longer, SS needs to be adjusted. Other simple changes like 'if you don't pay in to SS you should not EVER be able to take out' would be simple changes. But again, if Washington goes back to its wasteful spending, no changes will amount to anything. FACT: $106,600 is the cut-off for paying SS/Medicaid tax on income, after that you don't pay that particular tax. Up to that point one pays 6.2% (which was cut to 4.2% for this year...which does not help the problem with the SS system) and our employers also match that 6.2%. Figure those numbers out, digest them and realize that you are better off taking the money from you and your employer and sticking it under a mattress and you'd have more money to retire on.
FACT: Both parties are corrupt. Look up some facts on the number of millionaires in Congress. Report back to us how many are DEMS and how many are REPS. You will find of the TOP 5, 4 are Democrats. Funny, I thought the DEMS were all about the working people? Aproxmiately 44% of those in Congress are MILLIONAIRES, contrast that with the general population which is about 1%. Now go do some research and present us with some facts, not opinions.
Let us start with those 'facts' and we all await some facts from you....but if you start rambling on about your opinions we will just assume you have no facts.
Present your facts that the Tea Party wants to get rid of social security for retirees, medicaid for seniors, and medicare for the poor. Show me how they want to remove voting rights for citizens. Prove to me that they want to get rid of minimum wage. Show me the facts, then we can have a discussion. Otherwise, you are just spouting lies.
No they don't have anything else to do. They have been whining for months about how unfair it is that they haven't looked for a job and they feel entitled to the money of those that have worked for theirs.
amazing how you knock the protesters, along with cnbc news. maybe you have a nice job with great benefits. Try looking for a job as there are very few full time and most company's want to hire part time help so do not have to give benefits. The full time employees that had good benefits are taken away and told what new plans they are given with no choice. These plans cost thousands of dollars. That is why unions are fighting to keep benefits. I have not always been for unions but if you have one the company's can not just cut your plan to something lower. Perfect example is Verizon in northeast that wants to cut jobs and benefits an wages and go back 20 years even though they made billions of dollars. Exxon is another per example making a million dollars and hour and did not want to give raises to people in Texas months ago. Do you think all these news casters that make fun of the protesters, if they were lay ed off and could not find a job in a few months i am sure they would change there mind. its nice when your grass is green and you do not have to worry about anything. The people that went to college and paid over a 100,000 dollars or more can not find full time jobs. Should listen to TRUMP- even though he takes advantage of the system he definitely will tell you the way it is. We may be at 10 to 15 % unemployment but do not for get when you fall off the collection list your not even counted so i am sure we are probably around 25%. And as far as all these states with outrages pensions for retires. just cut back like private industry does and you will solve the problem. I do not want to pay more taxes toward there cushy pensions of 30,000 and up per year. I need that myself. I do not even get close to social security and my small pension to equal the 30000 they get on low end, plus i have to pay taxes and alot of these cushy pensions do not. WAKE UP AMERICA AND SMELL THE COFFEE AS SOON THERE WILL BE JUST RICH AND POOR THE MIDDLE CLASS IS DISAPPEARING.
I have worked with these OWS types before. The first things they ask when they start a new job is "Can I have next week off", "When is my vacation", "When will I get a raise", etc. Then they are consistently late, always want to leave early, take two hour lunches, and don't do the job they were hired to do. The only reason they are even looking for a job is because their parents will no longer pay to keep them in college, I guess 6-7 years with no degree is long enough. When they get fired, they seem surprised, and are always outraged.
i have looked for a job as a just in case because yes i do have a nice job with benefits. i found plenty i was ABLE to do. Most of these people only want jobs they are WILLING to do. I even found a job that payed well, with benefits that almost match what i currently get, that i could have started at within 2 months of leaving my current job if it came to that.
Tarzan - I guess that's an appropriate comment coming from an Ape Man.
Chef - Good for you, now list ALL of these places with GREAT wages on your post so others can turn a blind eye to this depression and pretend that Jon Corzine didn't commit the very crimes that OWS is protesting and he won't go to jail. Are you working under the glory of the Golden Arches? Your benefits 'almost' match...? That's the problem, benefits are reduced and the cost is increased yearly. Even you have something in common with OWS.
all it takes is a laptop and an Internet connection to find a job. they wouldhave to put just as much work into finding one as they do with squatting in a park then they should all be employed by the end of the month. obviously relocating isn't a problem for some of these people so a nationwide job search should make it easier. they just have to "keep an open mind" and do jobs that are available to do instead of what they have come to demand. There is a difference between not being able to find a job and not being able to find an IT job in Boston with benefits making at least $80K a year. Once you get specific you loss any arguing point about not finding a job. You just can't find the specific job you want in the area you want, getting paid what you want. These people need to re-learn that they are not entitled to what they WANT. They compete in a free market against other people that want the same thing. someone has to lose and move on. These people can't seem to move on, maybe we should stop enforcing the "everyone is a winner" mentality and go back to "survival of the fittest".
I guess people don't like hearing the truth so they suppress others by closing their posts. Nothing like a "you're a spoiled brat" comment to get the spoiled brats to throw a tantrum.
But when the Tea Party took to the streets... that made them Patriots. Can you see the irony? Oh wait.. that's right. Teabaggers only see it as it suits them best.
Moron.
Oliverb,
And the Gun-Toting Tea Rats were called "Patriorts."

This could be very good news for a few of the 99%....the ones who work making tear gas, water cannons, police batons/shields and the like. I was thinking of taking a hot dog stand down there and making a fortune feeding the protestors...oops, better not, then I'd be the object of the protest. Guess I'll just sit back here eating cheetos and watching the Playboy channel until my "crazy check" comes in the mail.
You bring the hot dogs concession, I'll bring the beer. It seems that OWS protester do like to sit around, drink beer, scratch, fart and whine. Maybe we should have a cheese and cracker stand too to go along with the whine.
You guys have it all wrong..... Start a donut stand, the police have money so they can pay, for what they buy..... The OWS PROTESTERS DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY, they will just try to steal from you....
Wow, I really don't know where to begin! I guess those who lack the education to know what's really going on here are the ones who support the establishment! You will, one day regret that, since you aren't aware of history, it seems to come in cycles. When all of you lose your rights and you have no job, no money and place to live. Tell us then how you support the 1%!!! The OWS does in fact have stand, if you've bothered to pay attention. But, like most people who choose too, "You only HEAR what you want to hear and you only want to SEE what you want to see!" Stay simple and stupid because that's all you'll ever be....The Revolution has just begun....
Lack education? What a liberal thing to say. Why is it that the ultra-left think they are the best educated and smartest?
Educate anytime you want to compare credentials I am right here waiting.
The "Revolution" will be crushed because a group of disaffected, disenfranchised, unemployed losers have no chance of achieving anything nevertheless change. I assume you are another arm-chair prophet who cannot cope in the real world so you look forward to a new world order where people like you will be relevant beyond an anonymous computer post. Keep dreaming.
Yes let's look at history and other revolutions that played upon class/race/gender politics.
We have the Nazi movement.
We had the communist movements in Russia, China, Cuba etc etc.
They all used similar rhetoric as modern Liberals and OWS and look at what happened to those countries and more importantly their people.
Before you tell people that they are seeing what they want to in history maybe you should go re read history yourself because it looks like you chose to ignore it yourself.
We are already heading for circumstances like what Greece is going through with all of the spending.
Liberals and OWS are going to lead us into a civil war by dividing us all up by class/race/gender lines.
You are creating anger and resentment just like the socialists want.

The folks that are criticizing the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators support our broken system. They are not thinking about the day when they can no longer support the 1% and when they themselves do not have a job or a place to live.
You are right...they do not mind staying "simple and stupid."
Until the government stops taking from the working class (i.e. not the rich), and using the money they take to give out these "crazy checks" and "lazy checks", that you proudly wait for, then the revolution will only get larger.
Welcome to the revolution. USA, rich and welfare class have the power, everybody else slaves for them.

Most politics works by using fear tactics such as these. You want to look at a revolution that played on politics and class? Look at the one that formed our country.
I agreed until you wrote OWS is an idea and ideas are dangerous". OWS has not presented any workable solutions or ideas. They only want what they want and are willing to hurt others to get it. Let them propose workable legislation and I might agree.
Liar liar pants on fire "independent in CO" No one is allowed to PROTEST Obama, you would immediately be labled a RACIST. You can't speak against the great Father Obama.
I work across the street from Zuccotti Park and yesterday we were told to try to get here early because of all the planned disruptions on the "day of action". What a joke. They were going to interrupt the NYSE opening. Stock Market opened on time with no problems.
This movement has no leadership at all. And because of this there are minimal disruptions today. There are just leaderless groups milling around lower Manhattan with no direction. No one knows what they are doing. The one thing I did see is when a group tried to push past a barricade where people who work down here were going through, the PEOPLE pushed back.
Speaking as someone who works down here, and what I feel is more and more becoming the feeling of the residents and employees in lower Manhattan, OWS has more than worn out their welcome. In the beginning we supported you. We accepted that you had a message, and were fine with your protests. But you've been disrespectful, and not at all mindful of the people that live and work down here. You are supposed to be taking on the big guy, but you are doing nothing but pissing off the little guy.
Word is that they are planning on disrupting subway service today. This is New York, and I wouldn't suggest pissing off New Yorkers. Cause a disruption on the subway and the NYPD won't be the ones dragging you out.
OWS while a good idea has failed because of the very reason you thought it would succeed. No leadership at all. No leadership gets exactly what you have today. Confused mobs milling around lower Manhattan with no clear direction or objective.
Are you people so oblivious that you don't realize that you aren't hurting the 1%? They don't give a damn about you or what you are doing. However the guy that mops the floor, and the girl that answers the phone are being forced to wade through a sea of @ssholes to get to their jobs.
So yes, your day of action will produce action. We The People are tired of you interrupting our lives. You people don't give a damn about the people that live and work down here. We are tired of you and you've been pushing us for 2 months. And as I've seen so far this morning from my commute to work, we are starting to push back.
And really, do you really think that the NYPD doesn't know how to handle you? That you are going to overwhelm them? Let me explain something to you. This is not Oakland, this is not Charlotte, or Seattle or any of those other places. Every December 31st more than a million people congregate in Times Square, an area roughly the same size as lower Manhattan. And every December 31st the NYPD does a fantastic job of keeping the peace and order. They train for this. They know what to do.
I hear you Ryan. I walk past Zuccotti Park on my way to work and pass near Wall St. It only took me an extra 4 or 5 minutes. As far as I can see nothing was shut down. Cops outnumber the protesters. I don't think the numbers are anywhere near what was anticipated.
Good for you Ryan,...I was wondering when the "1 %ers" were going to start to speak up. But let the police handle those morons us 1 %ers always show restraint, self respect, and dignity. This is what seperates us from the riff-raff.
It will take awhile for you, RYAN nyc, to understand what is going on. You are clinging to the beliefs which facilitate abuse by the NYPD, and you are not open minded. I don't worry about the non-open minded people; the movement , eventually, will steam roll right over you, and you will be saying the same thing as you are now.
Stop viewing all of this from a higher-than-thou perspective, and talk with some of the very intelligent people involved in the movement. I am 71 years old, and I spent time at Zuccotti Park, keeping an open mind. The texture of the community at Zuccotti Park is JUST like the community which surrounds you - unless you live in Greenwich.
Spend some time even on the Internet, and you will find a lot more is going on than what you perceive, through your narrowly focused lens, to be happening.
I beg to differ Ms. Molly, my surrounding community is at work contributing to society. If someone in my community falls WE as a community pick him/her up. We don't run to NYC or Oakland or any other place where whining falls on deaf ears. We go to our vocations, we attend our churches, we raise our families to have respect for the law of the land and more importantly respect for themselves. There are ways to "fix' things, this "occupy" stuff is definitely not one of them.
Really? Poll numbers tend to indicate something else with regards to New Yorkers' support of the movement, but since a lily-white Wall Street office guy says different with the furious righteousness incumbent in the status quo, it must be so.
The truth is these bums as not the recently unemployed, the are the habitually unemployed. I heard 2 of them being interviewed on NPR last night on my way home, from work. One was a former Bank Executive, and the other was former auto worker. Both were part of the institutions they now claim to be working against, except the both stated they were PRAYING for a job with those institutions. So it's not about the 99% against the 1% it's about, Where's My Six Figure Salary? There is a guy in Alabama with 158 jobs recently vacated by illegals and according to the media, thousands of farm jobs available. So why are these people in NY, Charlotte, DC, San Francisco, Berkeley? There arent jobs there, but there are jobs in other parts of the country. Unfortunately, you have to actually do WORK.
I assure you, I am not one of the 1%. I and my wife work for a non profit and are far from rich.
@merrymolly
I in no way cling to any beliefs that condone any police brutality. I don't disagree with the protest. I disagree with the protesters. This is a leaderless movement that has been all over the place with no clear direction. I've worked downtown across the street from Zuccotti park for the last 5 years. And for the last 2 months the protesters have become more and more disrespectful to us. Why is it ok for them to not have to abide by the same laws that I do?
As to my narrowly focused lens, and higher than thou perspective. You couldn't be more wrong. I don't live in Greenwich. I live in Brooklyn, and in my community people don't try to disrupt hard working people trying to live their lives and earn a living. In my community people don't camp out and take over a park that was meant for everyone to enjoy. In my community people don't block the street with drum circles and pot smoking at 8am. I agree that OWS has a legit grievance. I absolutely disagree with the tactics they are using. There is no leadership and they are turning into a disorganized mob.
They are planning on "occupying" subway stations later on. 2 of the stations are located in the South Bronx. Can you explain to me what blocking subway trains in the poorest neighborhood in NYC is going to accomplish?
RyanNYC - Great post and you're 100% right. To bad the city leaders have let this drag out as long as it has. When working people in NYC have to deal with the crap that these "protesters" cause, it's time to put an end to it.
Thank you, excellent observation and write up! Appreciate the simple and effective cander. May I add something here:
Some Belated Parental Advice to Protesters Posted By Marybeth Hicks On October 19, 2011
Call it an occupational hazard but I can’t look at the Occupy Wall Street protesters without thinking, “Who parented these people?”
As a culture columnist, I’ve commented on the social and political ramifications of the “movement” – now known as “OWS” – whose fairyland agenda can be summarized by one of their placards: “Everything for everybody.”
Thanks to their pipe-dream platform, it’s clear there are people with serious designs on “transformational” change in America who are using the protesters like bedsprings in a brothel.
Yet it’s not my role as a commentator that prompts my parenting question but rather the fact that I’m the mother of four teens and young adults. There are some crucial life lessons that the protesters’ moms clearly have not passed along.
Here, then, are five things the OWS protesters’ mothers should have taught their children but obviously didn’t, so I will:
• Life isn’t fair. The concept of justice – that everyone should be treated fairly – is a worthy and worthwhile moral imperative on which our nation was founded. But justice and economic equality are not the same. Or, as Mick Jagger [2] said, “You can’t always get what you want.”
No matter how you try to “level the playing field,” some people have better luck, skills, talents or connections that land them in better places. Some seem to have all the advantages in life but squander them, others play the modest hand they’re dealt and make up the difference in hard work and perseverance and some find jobs on Wall Street and eventually buy houses in the Hamptons . Is it fair? Stupid question.
• Nothing is “free.” Protesting with signs that seek “free” college degrees and “free” health care make you look like idiots because colleges and hospitals don’t operate on rainbows and sunshine. There is no magic money machine to tap for your meandering educational careers and “slow paths” to adulthood and the 53 percent of taxpaying Americans owe you neither a degree nor an annual physical.
While I’m pointing out this obvious fact, here are a few other things that are not free: overtime for police officers and municipal workers, trash hauling, repairs to fixtures and property, condoms, Band-Aids and the food that inexplicably appears on the tables in your makeshift protest kitchens. Real people with real dollars are underwriting your civic temper tantrum.
• Your word is your bond. When you demonstrate to eliminate student loan debt, you are advocating precisely the lack of integrity you decry in others. Loans are made based on solemn promises to repay them. No one forces you to borrow money; you are free to choose educational pursuits that don’t require loans or to seek technical or vocational training that allows you to support yourself and your ongoing educational goals. Also, for the record, being a college student is not a state of victimization. It’s a privilege that billions of young people around the globe would die for – literally.
• A protest is not a party. On Saturday in New York , while making a mad dash from my cab to the door of my hotel to avoid you, I saw what isn’t evident in the newsreel footage of your demonstrations: Most of you are doing this only for attention and fun. Serious people in a sober pursuit of social and political change don’t dance jigs down Sixth Avenue like attendees of a Renaissance festival. You look foolish, you smell gross, you are clearly high and you don’t seem to realize that all around you are people who deem you irrelevant.
• There are reasons you haven’t found jobs. The truth? Your tattooed necks, gauged ears, facial piercings and dirty dreadlocks are off-putting. Nonconformity for the sake of nonconformity isn’t a virtue. Occupy reality: Only 4 percent of college graduates are out of work. If you are among that 4 percent, find a mirror and face the problem. It’s not them. It’s you.
First copy and paste kiwi you can go back or stay in Japan this is The United States so take your expertise of copying and pasting back to Japan this is not you issue you have enough problems in Japan fix your own house first. If somehow you were allowed to become a citizen learn our Constitution and something called the Bill of Rights the first ten amendments that are considered as part of our Constitution which the founders would not sign unless these were made part, as amendments, to the Constitution and sometimes referred to as "inalienable rights" meaning absolute rights that cannot be suspended or abridged.
@Ryan - Ok lots of talk on your part how about you address you inconvenience to your master on Wall Street that have stolen the tax payers money as paying dollar per dollar for the losses to Goldman Sachs because AIG was broke and the corruption of the rick assessment agencies that were suppose to protect us. The list of crimes goes on and on - just ask yourself why Goldman was paid dollar per dollar of tax payer money when all the rest per paid cents on the dollar?
It is normally called influence peddling to the tune of $125,000,000,000 that would be $125 Billion of tax payer money which you seem to be totally oblivious to. Plus Ryan the protests to secure fair and just treatment of the country as a fair tax policy is beyond your concerns what do you care if the 1% pay 15% and I pay 35% that is of no concern to you. The CEO was set to receive $100,000,000 that is One Hundred Million Dollar bonus and we bailed his bank out; Goldman Sachs that partly owns America but I suppose that is just fine with you.
I mean why should you care if I and the rest of the shrinking middle class pay this 35% plus state tax and pay ever higher fees for everything. Ryan the exercise of Democracy always is somewhat of an inconvenience to some so I am sorry the exercise "to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" is an inconvenience to you but we do live under a constitution and the abrogation of such because you don't understand what the commotion is about or are tired of the First Amendment rights is not sufficient to suspend the First Amendment because you are inconvenienced.
I suppose all the Tories, the landed gentry and privilaged as the 1% of today, were upset with the founders too - you do know of the American Revolution?
No one is saying that some of the original grievances that OWS had weren't valid, and that they don't have a right to share them. I agree with some of them. All of your issues above should be protested to the government, since they're the ones that dictate tax rates, and they're the ones that give bailouts to businesses. Why are the OWS protesters not on the steps of Congress protesting?
What's the point of this protest? They're saying they're going to block the subway in NYC, and in one of the poorest sections of NYC, as Ryan stated. How does that help the middle class? How does blocking people from going to and from their jobs helping the middle class?
I understand the ideas (some of which I actually agree with), but I don't understand the protest. How is what they're doing helping anyone?
Ronmey is net worth of about $18 million not all that much but he wants to be president and earn $500,000 per year why would he do that?
Yes, you give lots of information, yet still haven't answered my question. How does what OWS is doing solve any of those problems? Will rhythmic clapping in Zuccoti Park help fix that? Will blocking the subway for thousands of hardworking people fix that? Honestly, I don't think that Wall Street is the biggest part of this problem.
If our representatives can be bought by corporations, the blame still lies with the respresentatives. I think our lobbying system allows corporations to buy influence and should be reformed. I don't think that campaign donations should be able to buy a representative's votes.
I don't think our tax code should be so complicated that these big corporations should be able to go entirely without paying any taxes. They should reform taxation on capital gains (which is the main reason that Warren Buffet pays less percentage in taxes than you and I do... because most of his money coming in is capital gains, which is taxed differently than income that you and I pay).
And of all of that, the government is responsible for every single one. Again, this is about the government not representing the majority.
Like Ryan said earlier, I don't disagree with the protest, I disagree with the protesters. Without organization and leadership, they are wasting their time... and the time of everyone else that needs to get around the cities they're protesting to do their jobs. They can't even decide if they want to put out a list of demands... some do, some don't. How are they going to affect change if they can't even decide on what they want?
This is NOT over. Folks can claim ..this or that.. BUT the facts are MOST AMERICANS are f^%$#D its not sugar coatable folks.. here in Denver we are gonna bury em in OVERTIME.. who cares?? I dONT, AND im tired of the outter space folks blabbin out the sides of their necks... I KNOW THE SKY IS BLUE.... you who think its all a joke... better start RUNNING with ur gold bars NOW.. so you can ATTEMPT to GET AWAY from 290 million folks who got YOUR NUMBER.. losers. Im on the floor laughin my a#@ off. LMAO!!!
OWS is merely a blip on the radar! How ludicrous to believe that 290 million people are on your side! You are delusional! Get a life and find a REAL cause! Like getting out the vote to get BO out of the Whitehouse, and that includes the kind of BO that will go away with a bath and deodrant. OWS is past its prime! Get out of the way and let the PEOPLE get to work - bunch of trashy miscreants!
The 1% have more ammo. Their gold will be safe. Running will not be necessary. At least for the 1%. Running away from a withering field of fire may be what the OWS does before this is over.
The whole "Occupy" thing is like a rave party without the bad music, just a big party of brainless lemmings who cannot resist following each other into the mosh-pit.
How old are you Jeff? Obviously, you're happily sitting behind your desk rackin' in the thousands monthly. Screw me, the college student who can barely find a job after getting his master's degree right? Okay... sure. America, continue to screw over my generation and watch what will emerge. This protest is nothing compared to what is to come, and I cannot wait
Sorry Joey that you had the inclination to over educate yourself with a degree that is probably majored in business or accounting and makes it just as useful as a high school diploma. maybe you should have gone to a trade school; the jobs pay decent, the schools are shorter and hands on, and most of the jobs are in high demand. don't blame others for your poor planning. and your woe is me attitude is exactly what is holding you back from getting a job regardless of if it has to do with your degree. stop your self pity, it's immature and self-serving. go get a job, even if you have to do some *gasp* manual labor until there is an opening for you at a firm or wherever you were wanting to work to get into the 1% that is being protested against.
Joey-4054851, What is your masters in? I find a lot of jobs out there requiring only a BS, some of them doing what did not require a BS before (and shouldn't require a BS as that would make you over qualified) and it looks like you are young enough to be able to work long enough to pay that loan back.
Screw me, the college student who can barely find a job after getting his master's degree right?
There are plenty of jobs available for those who want to work. As for jobs pertaining to the degree you've chosen, whose fault is that? Is your degree desirable or marketable? Were there jobs available in this specialization when you started down that path? Are there internship opportunities in this field to gain experience and networking opportunities? Or do you just expect to be given a job within the field of your specialized degree just because you went through the trouble of obtaining it?
You chose your path of study, and you signed for any loans you may have received.
Actually, if you majored in accounting at any reputable private business school, you can make $55k out of the gate at any major accounting firm. They hire new college grads by the boatload for auditing, get them certified as CPA's like a factory, and work them to death over their first few years, where they're either presented a better opportuntity at the firm or have had the experience necessary to make the switch to corporate accounting or something.
NYPD are thugs and PUNKS.. and MANY Americans see their TRUE colors.. as well as other LE and their BOSSES.. who sk the cash teet.. its all about the cash.. us Americans dont matter, AND they say we will go away soon.. think again losers.
Each one of these " protesters " has a " representative " in Washington; in addition to Obama and Pelossi..........
Get yourselves to Washington DC and tell "your representatives " about your complaints ! including Fannie May and Fredy Mac .........................talk about the juicy bonuses coming up.....................
Now, you need to get serious about "earning" a living......................
Believe as you want, and when the socialized government you are wishing for declares YOU a risk, you can always say, "hey, those guys were right." as apposed to, "why didn't anyone see this coming."
That is if they let you have a voice in the new regime.
I would like to know, why it's O.K. for other countries to protest, even though governed by dicators, but in America, with that baloney of first amendment is not. What it's even more disturbing, they use violence, killings and that is also O.K. for America, but here a peaceful protest is a crime. Isn't this the proverbial do as I say, not as I do? I wish the protesters in Arab, Muslim countries will come to this "Christian and democratic" nation and show us how is done. Peaceful means might work in true democracies, but in ours that is DINO, no way Jose!
Just go on over to one of those Muslim countries and protest to your heart's content! See how long you would stay out of their jail! Also, since you obviously have access to a computer somewhere, how 'bout not being a hypocrit and get rid of your laptop, smart phone, or even using the PC in the coffee shop or at a friend's house - you're so against corporations and the money their people make - stop supporting them - that's one way to put the evil corporations out of business! Move to the country. Stop using electricity, running water, use an outhouse, grow your own food - don't go to Kroger or WalMart, no TV, Radio, Phones - nothing created or developed by the evil empire of corporations! Better buy yourself a shotgun so you can kill your own meat. Oops - forgot! Can't have a gun as they are manufactured by a big company! Oh well, pick up a large tree limb and "beat your meat" to death!
You forgot that they take you to jail before two months of camping out. They will probably hold you at the jail indefinitely. They may just decide that you are a threat and shoot you with real bullets, and not tear gas and rubber bullets.
OWS is free to protest whenever and wherever they want, within the rules of the land. The rules of the land do not prohibit protest. They prohibit (in some areas) camping in parks. You still have the right to protest the government, just not camp out in parks.
Seriously? Many communities have tolerated their Occupy groups very well. Trouble is, the US IS a nation of laws. Most actually don't do much other than to ensure an orderly use of our country. Simple things, like permits for use of public spaces. Hardly draconian. "You want to use the space? File for a permit, we'll make sure it doesn't run afoul the Old Ladies Crafting Guild (and yes, our local parks in my town are used for craft shows and special events like that)." And, if the OWS crowds want the law enforcement to "respect their rights", they really need to respect the rights of those around them. You are quite free to protest, and say your piece of mind. You are NOT free to commandeer public spaces for your own use, barring others from using them. You are NOT free to claim control of private property. You are NOT free to assault other human beings. Most of the group might be "peaceful", but it doesn't take much. A person is smart, people are dumb; the more you put anger and vitrol into the mix, the more likely it is to flare up, and several camps have, which makes people, the "99%" even more wary of involving themselves.
Did you say peacfull demonstrations. You must be smoking some strong #$%^ if you think this is peacefull. The filth being left by this peaceful group, the violence and crime, the disruption of the lives that have nothing to do with what ever thing your protesting (you guys can't even decide). This is nothing more than anarchy and a bunch of directionalist wannbes with nothing better, even Steve Corell made fun of the loonies down there with there hand signs and names like "Ketchup". Like the dingle berry said in one post, What should we do take a 9 dollar an hour job without benefits. Well people are risking death to get here from other countries to take that 9 dollar an hour job because you lazy, worthless, self inflated dip$%^& t5hink your to good. I piss on your movement
Gotta agree with you on that note... Since the 60's the U.S. has acted like a dictatorship when it comes to peaceful protest. And I dare someone say other wise. And please have your facts straight because they will get checked.
This must be an "Christian" convention, where everybody gets a different meaning from the facts and want to see, not what I said or didn't say, but what their agenda tells them to see. I wish I could understand how some people, that obviously are not in the 99% take it out on yes, peaceful' demonstrations. The ones bringing the violence are the police. Didn't you see that Iraqi war veteran that was standing minding his own business and the gestapo almost killed him. Some people here, so it seems, can't see the forest from the trees. The four women that were pepper sprayed by a police supevisor were, you might not believe this, already in police custody. Let me see I understand some of the mental midgets that can't fail to appear with "their own facts" a la the fixnews network. The OWS crowd is behaving like sheep, at least that is what I've seen so far, in the majority of cases and if the police behave like the Gestapo with the Jews, then is the fault of OWS? I don't know about everybody, but these guys who see that, must have been planted by Dick Armey or the fixnews network or the Koch brothers, just beacuse they believe that OWS is going to kill the goose with the golden eggs and they a la Charlton Heston, will rather die with their billions in their cold hands than allow children, America have the same rights as the 1% have, anmd that is not counting the billions uncle Sam gives them on top of the more billions they steal from him. Talking about the meaning of the word: Lunatic or there could another word: Masochistic. Or could also be drugs? Well, with tea partiers, republicans, the KKK crowd, you can't never tell. When those com-palin about something, buyer beware, they are against in words, but in deeds they are milking uncle Sam til the last drop.
Boy the tighty righty's are out in force today on this string get a clue stop watching Fox pay attention to the country and the world and where its really headed stand up for the rights of the people I am proud to be a 99%er occupy ever-thing go OWS.
Are you really proud of that fact? See my post to "Hell - no.." You're both idiots! If you're a vet, something must have gone wrong up stairs! Go see your PTSD counselor!
mike the vet, are you one of those returning vets that nancy pelosi fears will cause riots..............oh, never mind she was referring to the tea party.
AG99 – "Term limits" is an answer, but one that would pose more problems. In simplistic terms, there's a hierarchy in Washington where the senior leaders show the freshmen the ropes. The problem with term limits is that the only people with real seniority in Washington would end up being the lobbyists. Do we really want lobbyists being the ones to lead our lawmakers? They're too powerful as it is.
The haters think they are the 1%. They must not have read the constitution. Corporations are not people, yet the supreme court gave them personhood status and in so doing turned the USA into a fascist state. Please do not take my word for it, do some research.
NYPD do you need volunteers?
LOL! You best sit back in that chair foo! Don't care if you are against OWS or for it. Don't make the dumb move of standing in the way.
Derek,
How do you know Gary isn't ex-military or a retired police officer?
Occupy that thought for a while.
www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/vp=45337068
And we didn't do it so that we could grovel before multinational corporations.
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2011/10/26/nyregion/the-new-gilded-age.html
Landoran, I'm ex military. Would it make it smart for me to agree with Gary? Nope, I agree with Derek, it is foolish to even say it. My guess is you are comfortably complaining on your couch and not doing anything to fix the sad state this country is in, but when someone does try you are quick to criticize. Maybe one day you won't be able to afford the internet access you are using today to post your opinion.
CCryder
I am part of the 99%, I totally disagree with the OWS crowd. This whole sham is brought to us by the democratic party and the unions. This is America, everyone has the equal opportunity to join the 1%. I hope to get there someday myself. To all the protesters that think they are owed something, all I can say is, in the immortal words of the democratic leader of the House of Representatives, "go to hell".
Wow, you sound like 99% of OWS, speaking stupidity in ubonix
What a mess! I'm waiting for the city to evacuate people. How smart a person can be, how stupid a mob is. These aren't the 99%, the people is 3rd world countries are! You think our country is messed up? What about places people get abducted, killed, beaten, and worse for no reason?? Get over it people. you don't have a purpose. They say it is so everyone can get involed. Well, now you have our attention, pick a purpose so we can end this craziness. Go get a job, become a lawyer, fight "The Man" but stop using our police who have more importent things to do. If you hate it here, go to Canada.....
Let's tell the truth....for a change!
Nevada
JH-479998,
You'll never be part of the 1% bud.
@CCRyder:

What Jerks you all are!
Occupy Wall Street - Forever.
Because we feel like it, have a problem with free speech.
25Walker:
OWS is occupying MSNBC collapsing comments.
Would all of you claiming to be ex-military please stfu.
There's absolutely no way you can prove you are.
I'm 6' 5''.
Prove I'm not.
WOW! What a movement. A whole 500 people showed up out of 8 million in the city of New York. OWS, you're done. Go home.
Your Constitutional Rights do not include trespassing on private property, blocking traffic, or trying to stem the flow of commerce. This "movement" has absolutely no clue how to accomplish their goals. Disrupting the work day of a few banking analysts amounts to what, now?
Corporations are not "We the People"... fix that and you will fix alot of problems this country faces today!
and if our 'bought and sold' government doesn't get out of the way they will be replaced!
So please, save it jarhead.
- Love - A Squid.
When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion--when you see that in order to
produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing--when you see that money is
flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors--when you see that men get richer by graft and
by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you--
when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice--you may know that
your society is doomed.- Ayn Rand
I believe we have reached this situation.
25Walker:
As Sun Tzu said in The Art of War: "know thy enemy." That's why I come here. If I am up-to date with the irrationality of the left, I am better prepared to defend the rest of us against the devastation of this country the left so urgently desires.
Plus...it's fun makin' fun of ya'...
Restored some comments. Y'all are doing pretty good, with some exceptions:
Derek-381097, you're two weeks off suspension. Avoid 'making fun' of other users - it keeps translating to #1 violations. You're suspended for a week for violating #1 of the Code of Honor.
...
Landoran, 25Walker, you're each suspended for a day for violating #1 of the Code of Honor.
I plead dumb...
What exactly do these protestors wish to accomplish?
In the 60's we marched to stop the Vietnam War. That was a defined goal.
Do these guys have a defined goal, or is it scattershot, where they wish to overthrow the entire government, kind of like the Russian Revolution of 1915?
BTW- "storfied"? WTF is "storified"?
Even other cops are starting to speak out:

It's paid posting. The rich are afraid- and they're trying to drown reality in bullsh*t.
-------- What is the SIGNIFICANCE of these Word-wide OWS demonstrations?------
Prophetic words by Tom Friedman, the famous journalist with “The New York Times” are.
25 Walker:
You should look in a mirror.
Conservatives on a Progressive Forum?. Who appointed you Tyler and Sally as the Moderator.
Get a life, and an education. Bullying people like yourself are obnoxious.
Occupy = Politics - Money
Maui2
You are looking at the "bullies" - but you are too obtuse to to correctly interpret what you are seeing.
Look at how brutishly our citizens are being treated - for exercising their 1st Amendment Rights.
I give you a picture of "bullying:"
Here is the GOP/Tea Party bully political platform:
No Social Security, no Medicare, no Medicaid, no voting rights, no minimum wage, no planned parenthood, no E.P.A. no U.S. Department of Agriculture - Maui2 - this platform is "bullying."
Your focus is skewed.
Huh? Imagine.
And, by the way, how can one tresspass on property that is allegedly open to the public?
drc-2890368 You are my hero !!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant post !!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree and thank you for stating it so eloquently.
So food, clothes, and other living expenses is no worry for these people.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/11/02/us-usa-wallstreet-protests-money-idUSTRE7A12DY20111102
Harry Winter2,
You ask, 'Has any major political change ever happened without violence?' Sure.
Hello Gary K. I have a News Flash for Ya! THEY DON'T WANT YOU!
pacosperson: spot on!
Uh...pacosperson-
"a huge political change without violence"?
The American Revolution was "without violence"?
Tine,
Please read the post before responding.
A bunch of Soros and Obama paid union thugs and communist anarchist
That is a bald faced lie.
These people are Socialists and need to be corraled and re educated before they are allowed to mingle with Society
NYT Lies, You are right on target. Gather them up and send them to Syria and let's see how much they hate the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the 50,00 corporate leaders that took their jobs to communist China aren't?
Blue Veiner,
The tactics that the police are using on the Occupy Wall Street protesters - were borrowed from China, Iran and Syria...and lets not forget Libya.
A bunch of morons!!!
But when the Tea Party took to the streets... that made them Patriots. Can you see the irony? Oh wait.. that's right. Teabaggers only see it as it suits them best.
Moron.
25 Walker, I would expect something like that coming from a card carrying, protect my job because I'm worthless, Union dip!
You are right on target Ferrosynthesis. Who do you think is paying to feed these bums? THE UNIONS>

You are a Reactionary Backwards sociopathic Ayn Rand Fool!
@Oliverb
How come you're not out there protesting with the rest of the morons?
After all it's not them thats causing my taxes to increase it's the abundance of low lifes who CHOOSE not to work that has this country in a state of turmoil.
oliverb
Oliverb,
And the Gun-Toting Tea Rats were called "Patriorts."
25Walker?! YOU ARE AN IDIOT! There is absolutely no comparison of the NY police to those in Syria, Libya, China, and most of all IRAN! You are the kind of person that calls people you don't like Nazi's. That was a truly ignorant/stupid comment!
25walker - The Tea Party didn't "take to the streets'. They had rallies and actually effected change through the voting box.
Thank you protestors, you are this countries only hope! keep it going!
@VexViper
Answer any of them.. moron.
jenlee - YOU ARE AS DUMB AS A PERSON CAN GET!
Stupid!
"...communist anarchists..."
Somebody is confused on their politics...
Who is collapsing this? These people can't even agree on what they want.!!! Take them all to jail.
25 Walker
I'm amazed at you well thought out rebuttal to all who have a different opinion from yours. You command of the facts and their ramifications is astounding! Your counter points are simply to brilliant for those who disagree to understand. You must have a Ph.D. in Public Speaking. I bow to your superior Intellect.
jenlee - The name calling started with you and your Right-Wing Crowd.
Idiot!
drc-2890368 Both of your above posts are fantastic !!!! You need to run for office I not only would vote for you but I am willing to run the campaign please consider we need people like you in office you get it and understand what REAL Americans are thinking not these lunatic fringe clowns on both sides. I enjoy your posts they are well thought out and well written. I just had to tell you. Thank you for being an American.
drc-2890368
You sir are a scholar and a gentleman, or you madam are a scholar and a lady if thats the case.
Don't the lazy bums have anything else to do? This is getting old.
Why work when you can live off Mom & Dad's money and if they were smart enough to have kicked you out so that you could become a responsible individual, you learned to live off the government. Either way, they've learned well from the rest of the welfare scum.
wow. you people are way off with what these protests are about. hopefully one day something you believe in is just looked at as "crazy."
Crazy
If "these protest (sic) have no purpose" then why are the supporters of the movement growing hour by hour?
No, 50,000 corporate leaders and the government prefer employing communists in
China over Americans! And can you explain this guy to me?
ceo: John Hammergen Company: McKesson Industry: Pharmaceuticals Compensation: $131.2 million
Yeah, there at least 200 paid union thugs and communist anarchist
DoesitMatter52,
The "freedom snatchers" that are criticizing the Occupy Wall Street protesters are an organized propaganda machine.
Nothing you say to them - will be reasoned on.
It was a quick way to make a profit.
Now that is LAZY.
Corporate America are working Chinese for $3.00 per day..that should tell everyone on how they operate..they want most Americans on minimum wage, sorry State of Affairs.......LAZY, has nothing to do with it..greed has NO principles....
Ok - finally in my Los Angeles
Yes even in here in the laid back capital of the world American citizens are finally getting to work knocking down this police state run by the 1% for the 1% - I have to run to make some money to yes pay my taxes and I do not mine paying said taxes this a country for all Americans not just for those that only pay 15% to 17% tax on their income as Mr. Buffet showed the world how he does it.
Some still and never will understand they are the mindless drones of their masters their keepers and masters.
Good Luck OWS.......
American. Please tell me what it is all about. I really want to undertsand.
says: EDUCATE THE PEOPLE --- The Revolution has just begun ---....
-------- What is the SIGNIFICANCE of these Word-wide OWS demonstrations?------
Prophetic words by Tom Friedman, the famous journalist with “The New York Times” are.
Stephace
You spend too much time reading OWS propaganda. People like you think anytime a police officer enforces law and order it is brutallity. Time for a reality check, the OWS group are commotting crimes including rape and drug offences and should be treated as such. Not much of that at the RNC or Tea Party rallies.
Answer this: WHERE HAVE ALL THE JOBS GONE?
NYT Lies-
"Communist Anarchist"?
"Green Pixies?" I wonder if widdle crywin Ryan is one of them there pixies?
30?75? This sure ain't many people. If they are anannoyance, take them to jail, put them in there with some hard timers.
What politically blind people so many of you are.

25-
Yes, we are saying to go get jobs.
Can you say "tea-party?"
porschemirror, kind of like you're doing, right? Point the finger and what do you have? Three pointing back at you.
They did, when they voted for smaller government and goverment accountibility. That's why the dems lost power in the house.
Most of us "lazy bum conservative/patriots" can't get the day off from work to spend protesting.
Huendy329,
And look how far the Republicans want to shove America to the Right.
25walker - You are completely uniformed or ignorant of the facts. Are you still drinking the Obama Koolaid?
I can say tea party. And I do! If these idiots had any brains THEY would join up with the tea party. Instead of trying to get stuff for nothing. But they dont want to work.
Hendy329
Then PRESENT FACTS to REFUTE my Facts and to support your lying statement - You Cannot!
The GOP/Tea Party will Demolish America - and you know it.
25Walker
I'm amazed at you well thought out rebuttal to all who have a different opinion from yours. You command of the facts and their ramifications is astounding! Your counter points are simply to brilliant for those who disagree to understand. You must have a Ph.D. in Public Speaking. I bow to your superior Intellect.
Walker,
Present your facts that the Tea Party wants to get rid of social security for retirees, medicaid for seniors, and medicare for the poor. Show me how they want to remove voting rights for citizens. Prove to me that they want to get rid of minimum wage. Show me the facts, then we can have a discussion. Otherwise, you are just spouting lies.
Hendy329 - you are too obtuse to realize that the GOP/Tea Party will Demolish America.
Forgive me - for intellectually "promoting" you.
No they don't have anything else to do. They have been whining for months about how unfair it is that they haven't looked for a job and they feel entitled to the money of those that have worked for theirs.
maybe if you read on what's really going on, you can make sense of your nonsense :
try this one:
www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/vp=45337068
amazing how you knock the protesters, along with cnbc news. maybe you have a nice job with great benefits.
It does not get any better than this , well except maybe on the cartoon network.

Educate The People
The folks that are criticizing the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators support our broken system. They are not thinking about the day when they can no longer support the 1% and when they themselves do not have a job or a place to live.
You are right...they do not mind staying "simple and stupid."
-------- What is the SIGNIFICANCE of these Word-wide OWS demonstrations?------
Prophetic words by Tom Friedman, the famous journalist with “The New York Times” are.
Sorry Harry, you're an idiot. In any case as a Tea Party member, I'm very well armed.

Nice Nazi comparison. Most politics works by using fear tactics such as these. You want to look at a revolution that played on politics and class? Look at the one that formed our country.
And also look at the American Revolution, started by American Protestors throwing snowballs at British Troops.

OWS is an idea and ideas are dangerous... They take root!!
question the government stop being the Silent Majority!!
I agreed until you wrote OWS is an idea and ideas are dangerous". OWS has not presented any workable solutions or ideas. They only want what they want and are willing to hurt others to get it. Let them propose workable legislation and I might agree.
If OWS really want to make a difference, one demand will give them most of the other things they want, in time: Congressional term limits.
Obama created OWS to deflect his own shortcomings. If they were a true movement, they would be protesting the Obama presidency and Congress.
They DO protest Obama, among all the other things. Seek truth before you speak.
Then it's time to move to his doorstep and stop impeding the lives of hardworking Americans.
sofork
You do know you're lying. Not just wrong, becsaue you know that's not true and you say it anyway. Shame on you!
Liar liar pants on fire "independent in CO" No one is allowed to PROTEST Obama, you would immediately be labled a RACIST. You can't speak against the great Father Obama.
sofork - good post...you're dead on with your comment.
ROTFLMAO. They were predict 3,000 to 5,000 and less than 1,000 showed up. Guess if they are not getting paid top protest they don't feel like going.
That's what happens with these OWS degenerates, when their usually wakie, wakie time is at the crack of 1 pm.
Punctuality is not their strongest suit especially when they have no job and responsibilies except protest all day.
From small acorns mighty oaks grow.
Ryan, excellent post! Thanks for sharing your insider's view to us folks out west.
This is what seperates us from the riff-raff.
sounds like it's time to clear out the vagrants.
Thanks, Ryan. Good post.
Thank you Ryan! Well said.
@jaypea
I assure you, I am not one of the 1%. I and my wife work for a non profit and are far from rich.
@merrymolly
Ryan, I am from Texas and didn't think I liked anyone in NY. Happy to stand corrected.
Ryan NYC
Thank you, excellent observation and write up! Appreciate the simple and effective cander. May I add something here:
Some Belated Parental Advice to Protesters
Posted By
Marybeth Hicks On October 19, 2011
Call it an occupational
hazard but I can’t look at the Occupy Wall
Street protesters without thinking, “Who parented these
people?”
As a culture columnist, I’ve commented on the social and
political ramifications of the “movement” – now known as “OWS” – whose fairyland agenda can be summarized by one
of their placards: “Everything for everybody.”
Thanks to their
pipe-dream platform, it’s clear there are people with serious designs on
“transformational” change in America who are using the protesters like
bedsprings in a brothel.
Yet it’s not my role as a commentator
that prompts my parenting question but rather the fact that I’m the mother of
four teens and young adults. There are some crucial life lessons that the
protesters’ moms clearly have not passed along.
Here, then, are
five things the OWS protesters’ mothers should have taught their children but
obviously didn’t, so I will:
• Life isn’t fair. The concept of
justice – that everyone should be treated fairly – is a worthy and worthwhile
moral imperative on which our nation was founded. But justice and economic
equality are not the same. Or, as Mick Jagger [2] said, “You can’t always get
what you want.”
No matter how you try to “level the playing
field,” some people have better luck, skills, talents or connections that land
them in better places. Some seem to have all the advantages in life but squander
them, others play the modest hand they’re dealt and make up the difference in
hard work and perseverance and some find jobs on Wall Street and eventually buy
houses in the Hamptons . Is it fair? Stupid question.
• Nothing is
“free.” Protesting with signs that seek “free” college degrees and “free” health
care make you look like idiots because colleges and hospitals don’t operate on
rainbows and sunshine. There is no magic money machine to tap for your
meandering educational careers and “slow paths” to adulthood and the 53 percent
of taxpaying Americans owe you neither a degree nor an annual
physical.
While I’m pointing out this obvious fact, here are a few
other things that are not free: overtime for police officers and municipal
workers, trash hauling, repairs to fixtures and property, condoms, Band-Aids and
the food that inexplicably appears on the tables in your makeshift protest
kitchens. Real people with real dollars are underwriting your civic temper
tantrum.
• Your word is your bond. When you demonstrate to
eliminate student loan debt, you are advocating precisely the lack of integrity
you decry in others. Loans are made based on solemn promises to repay them. No
one forces you to borrow money; you are free to choose educational pursuits that
don’t require loans or to seek technical or vocational training that allows you
to support yourself and your ongoing educational goals. Also, for the record,
being a college student is not a state of victimization. It’s a privilege that
billions of young people around the globe would die for –
literally.
• A protest is not a party. On Saturday in New
York , while making a mad dash from my cab to the door of my hotel to
avoid you, I saw what isn’t evident in the newsreel footage of your
demonstrations: Most of you are doing this only for attention and fun. Serious
people in a sober pursuit of social and political change don’t dance jigs down
Sixth Avenue like attendees of a Renaissance festival. You look foolish, you
smell gross, you are clearly high and you don’t seem to realize that all around
you are people who deem you irrelevant.
• There are reasons you
haven’t found jobs. The truth? Your tattooed necks, gauged ears, facial
piercings and dirty dreadlocks are off-putting. Nonconformity for the sake of
nonconformity isn’t a virtue. Occupy reality: Only 4 percent of college
graduates are out of work. If you are among that 4 percent, find a mirror and
face the problem. It’s not them. It’s you.

@kiwijapan and Ryan -
First copy and paste kiwi you can go back or stay in Japan this is The United States so take your expertise of copying and pasting back to Japan this is not you issue you have enough problems in Japan fix your own house first.
Case Closed............
Persevere:
Chant your Mantras louder......Jail The Protestors Reward The Rich!!! Jail The Protestors Reward the
Rich!!! Jail The Protestors Reward The Rich!!! LOUDER !!!!!
Kiwijapan, if I could hit the up button a hundred times to approve of your post, I would. Thank you.
Ryannyc, ditto. You are right on the mark.
I prefer the mantra of "arrest those guilty of breaking the law, let those that abide by the law go free."
@MagnoliaSimms -
Because Wall Street owns the congress it makes no sense to march on Washington the congress takes their orders and talking points from Wall Street and by Wall Street I refer to the financial sector in whole.
Ronmey is net worth of about $18 million not all that much but he wants to be president and earn $500,000 per year why would he do that?
Persevere:
LMAO!!!
Don't shoot up before commenting please. Helps the logic flow.
Steve-o
The 1% have more ammo. Their gold will be safe. Running will not be necessary. At least for the 1%. Running away from a withering field of fire may be what the OWS does before this is over.
Didn't work in Egypt
Not yet.
The whole "Occupy" thing is like a rave party without the bad music, just a big party of brainless lemmings who cannot resist following each other into the mosh-pit.
Â
Just like what you and your pals did in college? Just askin'.....
Actually, if you majored in accounting at any reputable private business school, you can make $55k out of the gate at any major accounting firm. They hire new college grads by the boatload for auditing, get them certified as CPA's like a factory, and work them to death over their first few years, where they're either presented a better opportuntity at the firm or have had the experience necessary to make the switch to corporate accounting or something.
without bad music? watch the news! believe me the music is horrible by a
bunch of hippy wanna be musicians!
NYPD are thugs and PUNKS.. and MANY Americans see their TRUE colors.. as well as other LE and their BOSSES.. who sk the cash teet.. its all about the cash.. us Americans dont matter, AND they say we will go away soon.. think again losers.
Uh-oh...Cuckoo cuckoo cuckoo!
Steve been arrested much? Yeah those big bad police are always picking on you-right?
Each one of these " protesters " has a " representative " in Washington; in addition to Obama and Pelossi..........
Get yourselves to Washington DC and tell "your representatives " about your complaints ! including Fannie May and Fredy Mac .........................talk about the juicy bonuses coming up.....................
Now, you need to get serious about "earning" a living......................
GOD BLESS AMERICA !
Unless you have a bag of money just try to get to see your representative, you won't get past the office building door.
Especially not if you look like Frodo and you smell like weed
Occupiers are the PAWNS of the "ONEWORLD" SOCIALIST elites.
Anyone that can't see that FACT, is a moron.
Anyone who would believe that kind of nonsense is a moron.
...really?
Its called philosophy... that class u probly failed.
I suppose the game CHESS was invented by some peasant as well.
ferro,
Believe as you want, and when the socialized government you are wishing for declares YOU a risk, you can always say, "hey, those guys were right." as apposed to, "why didn't anyone see this coming."
That is if they let you have a voice in the new regime.
good luck, KOMRAD.
OWS lazy good for nothing bums--go home, clean up and get a job or do something productive. You have worn out your welcome!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well said.
P Marine.
the comments from your empty jar belong somewhere else.
Are you actually encouraging violence as part of this protest? Really?
Smartkid,
You forgot that they take you to jail before two months of camping out.
Hey, you would have been roadkill in Beijing after the tanks got you so count your blessings you're in a free country!
I piss on your movement
moose
a simple "YOU ARE NOT FREE" would suffice.
Gotta agree with you on that note... Since the 60's the U.S. has acted like a dictatorship when it comes to peaceful protest. And I dare someone say other wise. And please have your facts straight because they will get checked.
Will
"Since the 60's the U.S. has acted like a dictatorship when it comes to peaceful protest."
I didn't see anyone stopping the TEA Party Rallies,DID YOU??? Can you explain that??
Mike one vet to another follow smartkid's advice the VA is there for a reason.
Mike. One vet to another. You are shootin Eagle.. these other guys cant make par.
mike the vet, are you one of those returning vets that nancy pelosi fears will cause riots..............oh, never mind she was referring to the tea party.
way to go mike keep the freedom
AG99 – "Term limits" is an answer, but one that would pose more problems. In simplistic terms, there's a hierarchy in Washington where the senior leaders show the freshmen the ropes. The problem with term limits is that the only people with real seniority in Washington would end up being the lobbyists. Do we really want lobbyists being the ones to lead our lawmakers? They're too powerful as it is.
OMG
"there's a hierarchy in Washington where the senior leaders show the freshmen the ropes"
If that doesnt say it all.
So many angry haters! You must be the 1% these folks are talking about!
No, we are part of the 99% that do not like the 1% OWS idiots.
no you're the idiot; you're really the clueless 1% of the 99% that swears that you're in the 1%.
www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/vp=45337068
OWS is the <1% that think they speak for the majority. obviously they have visions of grandeur.
The haters think they are the 1%. They must not have read the constitution. Corporations are not people, yet the supreme court gave them personhood status and in so doing turned the USA into a fascist state. Please do not take my word for it, do some research.
no you're the idiot; you're really the clueless 1% of the 99% that swears that you're in the 1%.
www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/vp=45337068
P.s. I only used " idiot" in response to your "idiot".... but you'll not understand about using derogatory language..
mike:
Then why are people protesting the corporations if the government granted them this? Why are they not at Washington's door?
