California and Arizona and New Mexico are the former NORTH MEXICO. The area was taken by force of arms--it was occupied by US troops. Mexico refused to cede it, so the troops went into Mexico City itself (which is where Lee and Grant first met, but I digress). The people trying to get the Mexican government (which was mostly populated by people of Spanish descent) to cede North Mexico were faced with the movement in the US that wanted "All of Mexico" (yes, this was a Tea Party like movement) on the one hand, and Southern plantation owners who did NOT want a bunch of colored people (many Mexicans are black in part) becoming citizens.

When a country is occupied and subsumed by another--everyone in that country becomes a citizen of the country that took the area over. Well, that is, unless one has the ability to force-march out everyone in the country and occupy it--which we did not at that time.

So, the US representative kept sweetening the pot on the one hand and threatening on the other until the government in Mexico realized that they were all pretty close to getting assassinated so that a puppet government could be put in place which was going to cede North Mexico. Nice way to twist History. Where did the "Mexicans" come from. Can you say the descendants of those that wiped out by Spanish Military Force the Incas, Aztecs, and nearly wiped out the Mayans, during their quest (greed) for the "Cities of Gold". Here's the answer, Obama has made it perfectly clear that he is against state border enforcement. They have clearly stated it is a Federal duty, but he won't do it.

Being that we expect (a significant number of) our troops in Iraq to be coming home by the end of this year, and it stands to reason that many of these (former) troops will have difficulty finding work upon their return, I say increase the budget for the DOI to employ these troops as Border Patrol agents. I'd hazard to guess that the people who are trained in counter-insurgency tactics would be the ideal candidates to secure our southern boarder.

This idea, IMO, would dovetail nicely with the fact that the congressional "super committee" failed to come to an agreement to balance our budget, one result of which is the fact that the DOE will see dramatic cuts to its budget.

We could employ many of those troops and shore up our southern border at the same time.

Illegals in this country purchase ssn #'s from coyotes (those who harbour and bring illegals into this country). So when they apply for housing they are applying under false ssn #'s--an offense that most ordinary american citizens can be jailed for. The same could be said for any other benefit they apply for and recieve.

It has been documented that illegals start wild fires to deter border patrol from going after the illegals and instead focus their attention to stop the wild fires--that's pretty effective. It has also been documented that there are illegals who have hideouts in the U.S. to help inform coyotes of border patrol movement. Pretty scary, huh? And down here in Texas it has been documented that mexican drug cartels are in the process of securing a 100-mile radius inside the U.S. border as a buffer for drug transportation and other activities. This land belongs to US residents--ranch land, farm land..you name it. It doesn't belong to them, it belongs to us.

Further, as someone who comes into contact with illegals on a regular basis (and i say this as it's easy to see who is an illegal by the way they dress, their cleanliness and demeanor...) they have NO respect for americans or property. That is despicable.

Moreover a report earlier this week came out and said that illegal immigration is at "net zero" between the US and Mexico mostly because of the fact that Mexico has a better economy than we do. They are currently at approx. 5% unemployment. Their second biggest source of income is foreign deposits (can you guess from where). Crazy huh? Earlier in the year it was reported that there is more illegal immigration from Asian and India into this country. And I can attest to this--for whatever reason I have noticed a large influx of Indians and Asians into Houston. Yes, Houston is known for the oil industry but there is no reason for so many Indians to be living in Houston. From first-hand experience, Houston isn't that great of a town.

I've spent my entire life in New Mexico and Arizona. I'm not an uber liberal. Socially, yes; fiscally moderate. Immigrants are not an actual problem. The amount of welfare/aid they receive is miniscule compared to the benefit they bring to the US economy. If anything, most conservatives should LOVE illegals, seeing as they help corporations profit. And no Obama doesn't want the illegals to vote, he wants them to take all necessary steps that all immigrants take to become naturalized citizens. there has been a change made to the way cigarettes are made. they go out if not being smoked. i tried a little experiment, just to see what happened, took a small pile of dry leaves, put a lit cigarette into the pile on a day with a light breeze....guess what...it went out...no char...no burn....tried it several times with the same result. don't think those fires were started that way.

11 million illegals isn't a small minority. Kill the anchor baby laws as they are no longer needed in this country. Pack'em all up and send them to their own country to support. People aren't being turned away. If someone presents themselves to border patrol and says 'I want to claim asylum' or 'I want to become a citizen they are immdiately taken to an ICE deportation cmp even though they haven't crossed the border yet and are not even here illegally. Presentation at the border without a travel document automatically means a deportation camp, where these people can spend years waiting for a hearing because ICE is so backlogged.

ICE counts as illegal not only those who have hopped across the border to run drugs and shoot people, but they also count as illegal people whose paperwork they lost/misfiled/didn't process in time, human trafficking victims, child porn victims, and adopted children of legal US citizens who were presented with falsified papers for their babies so the agencies could pocket the $5k-$10k. There is a huge gray area between the black and white of 'legal' and 'illegal' and a lot of Americans don't know there is a gray area--some don't even care.

Although no one wants fair laws for the illegal drug dealer/cop killer, the US cannot deny an 18 month old child victim of a crooked adoption agency the right to be treated fairly, or the illegal child trafficked in by legal citizens who make child porn. To deny all illegals basic human rights would mean denying these children basic human rights too, and I personally don't know anyone who can look deep into their hearts and find no pity for an illegal victim of child porn.

No doubt the victims of human trafficking or those whose (EXISTING) papers are not in order ought to be justly treated, but, in the end, those are extreme cases, and extreme cases make bad law.

I am one of those 'extreme' cases, and we are more common than you think. I was adopted back in the dark ages before there were computers and computer files, and ICE lost/misfiled/misplaced my adoption paper 18 years after I was adopted. Instead of leaving me be, I was detined as an 'illegal' and scheduled for deportation--and note that until ICE picked me up I didn't even know I as adopted, Dad and Mom never told me before they died. The woman in the cell next to mine was Rwandan, trafficked in when she was 12--her village had been attacked by rogue militia, her parents killed, she was sold away from her brother and never saw him again. She was trafficked into the US and held for yers while her captor, a LEGAL citizen, raped her and made child porn with her, then threw her out at 17, pregnant, illiterate and too old to be amusing anymore, and she was detained for being illegal. She gave birth in detention and since her baby girl had an American father, she was given to him even though we tried to explain that the baby's father was a pedophile and would probably molest the baby and it would be better for the baby to be deported with the mother. But the word of an illegal isn't taken over the word of an American citizen, and a week later the mother killed herself in solitary confinement.
