Update at 3:20 a.m. EST: Troopers are looking for the driver of a pickup truck that clipped the side of the plane while it was on the side of the road and then left the scene, according to First Coast News.
Updated at 1 a.m. EST: A plane landed on Interstate 295 in Jacksonville, Fla., but nobody aboard was injured, NBC station WJXT reported late Saturday.
Florida Highway Patrol said the plane came down just before 10 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-295, causing a traffic backup. One lane was blocked because of the airplane. An image on the station's website, news4jax.com, showed the Cirrus single-engine plane on its landing gear on the shoulder of the interstate.
It was not clear what caused the pilot to land on the roadway.

A plane crash lands on a highway and it causes delays. Wow, who'd have thunk it?
Crash land or emergency landing? Big difference. Which is it? Other networks are reporting emergency landing.
Poor Grammar for a headline. Should be "on I-295"
well if it was a crash landing, into I-295 would have worked as well
Good the highway system lives up to its secondary purpose!
This is like the 8th small plane crash this week! What is going on??? I know small planes crash here and there, but, there have been a lot in the last week! Anyone else curious about this????
Maybe we should ask Obama - according to most posts I see, he's being blamed for just about anything at all that happens in Uncle Sam land, whether in or out of politics . . .
Obama is the leading cause for skid marks in liberal underwear, along with clogged up toilets, broken disposals, and deaf-mute puppies.
It was not clear why the pilot landed on the highway? Maybe... let's see... Equipment failure? Or was he just stopping for a cheeseburger and a cold one?
Maybe he pulled over because he had a flat tire...
Most times it's pilot error.... likely ran out of gas.....but....better to land on I-295 than in the everglades!!
Any landing you can walk away from............is a good landing!!!
Well, since this was in Jacksonville, and the Everglades are in South Florida, that probably wasn't going to be an issue. That aside, yes, a highway is a better landing strip than a swamp full of alligators and snakes.
Is anyone else tired of reading MSNBC articles that seem to be rushed and half-baked? I mean anyone that was stuck in traffic could have written this story. Why did he land? Why is the truck that clipped the plane such a big interest that it warrants being printed here (I mean people clip cars all the time in the Walmart parking lot). Who was in the plane? Where was it coming from? And like James mentioned, is this becoming a trend? I'm just coming across so many articles where not even the most basic questions have been addressed. It's beginning to feel like MSNBC doesn't have reporters at all. They're just accepting any article someone submits that has a great "shock-value" headline. This was listed as one of MSNBC's "other top stories". Really?!!
It is a travesty to call these news bit articles. They are written by people who obviously have no sense of what is needed to answer the most basic questions.
How do they know the plane didn't hit the pickup truck?
B/c the plane was parked at the time off the side of the road.
This was somebody intentionally trying to hit a very expensive aircraft.
.
Why do you clowns even bother to "read" the MSNBC news articles?? You are upset because they seem "rushed and half-baked"?? Much better to just MAKE SOMETHING UP (like Faux News does) instead of waiting to have ALL the FACTS!
At 1AM when this article was posted on the website the reason for the landing was UNKOWN! And you idiots would rather they MAKE SOMETHING UP, then wait for some factual information!
Go to the news organization that makes crap up, and you can tie everything up with a nice little bow and smile your smug little smiles, and KNOW that you are INFORMED people!
By the time line on updates, it looks like the plane was on the ground for several hours before the pick up "clipped it".
Man, some people will do ANYTHING to avoid TSA inspection!
