Occupy protesters gather at Foley Square in New York City for a recreation of their former camp for an episode of 'Law and Order'.
Dozens of protesters from Occupy Wall Street converged overnight Thursday on another park in New York City – where they say a television set for an upcoming “Law & Order” episode replicating their Occupy Wall Street camp has been set up, according to various reports on Twitter, a live video stream and a demonstrator.
“Light, camera, ACTION! Everybody head to Foley Square. Bring y(ou)r headshots and make y(ou)rself at home! See you at midnite! #Mockupy #D9,” read a tweet sent out from the OccupyWallSt Twitter account.
No one from the long-running crime series – which often films in New York and touts its episodes as ripped from the headlines – could be immediately reached to learn if this was indeed the show’s set. But later Friday, Sharon Pannozzo, publicity director of East Coast Entertainment for NBC, said the company would not be making a comment at this time.
However, according to protester Tim Weldon, a board at the site read: “Please be advised that the T.V. show, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will be preparing this area of the park for a scene to be filmed in the morning hours on Friday, December 9th. All items in park will be removed immediately upon completion of filming.” (The television show airs on NBC. Msnbc.com is a joint venture of NBC Universal and Microsoft).
The playing of drums and “mic check” – the call for announcements – could be heard in Foley Square via a live video stream (which also tweeted their participation: “We have an incredibly special episode of OWSNYC tonight at midnight”).
“This feels good,” said one man who led others in a “mic check” at the scene, which was being followed under the hashtags "Mockupy" and "Fauxcotti" (a play on the former camp's location at Zuccotti Park near Wall Street -- from where they were evicted on Nov. 15).
“Ok, I've just snuck into a tent here at Fake Zuccotti Park and I'm going to live tweet all night and then the shoot tomorrow Ha …,” tweeted Newyorkist, who also noted: “A lot of signs all over the place. Some wanted signs too, featuring CEOs” and he linked to this photo.
“Law & Order's fake Zuccotti is hilarious," tweeted Christopher Robbins, a reporter at Gothamist who linked to this photo. "The food in the kitchen is real!”

A sandwich board at Foley Square with information about the filming.
But some people lamented the quality of the replication: “You can totally tell those signs were made by drones. real #OWS are way more colorful & less 'fonty' than those,” tweeted Liza Sabater.
Jokes abounded about the longevity of the show versus that of the camp: “We were evicted and #lawandorder still hasn't been canceled?” read a tweet from the official NYC_GA (NYC General Assembly) account.
Weldon – and numerous photos on Twitter – recounted the replication of their former library, kitchen and tents – and, in some cases, how off it was.
“It’s the most comical thing ... it’s just so hilarious,” Weldon said, noting he had found pamphlets on Pap smears and anesthesia and books like “Mommy Dearest.”
It didn’t seem the protest would last long, with protesters noting on Twitter and the live stream the arrival of police.
"We want Law & Order!" the protesters chanted at one point, Weldon said.
Production crews appeared to be taking tents down – and Weldon said they wouldn’t talk to him when he tried to speak with them – and police were telling people that they had to leave or they would be arrested.
“Captain telling Law & Order guy, ‘permit is pulled. Break it down now,’" Newyorkist, of nyctheblog.com, tweeted.
A man identified as Brian Donohue on Twitter noted: "Can you evict a fake idea? Can you fake-evict an idea? Can the occupiers at the perimeter move to arrest the NYPD inside?"
A police spokesman said there were no arrests or incidents at Foley Square. He did not know the subject of the production, and said the mayor's office handled filming permits.
All was not lost on the protesters. One man shown on the live video stream encouraged the crowd to do more such guerrilla actions, especially creative ones, noting it could be "a way to make actions go viral."

Really funny people...Poke fun at political protests that resulted in violations of the constitution...To make money on a show...Sick I tells ya!
I don't care. It's a good show.
These people have a serious message for the TEA Party members. Join our effort to remove Special Interests from controlling our Elections and Government Officials or else we will remove every Republican in Congress.
The problems are with the Party of NO.
They want to take us back to 2006-2009. Least you recall that's when unemployment was at 15%, our 401K's went "Bust", home foreclosures were at a record high, Banks and Wall Street Firms were failing by the thousands, Bush, Paulson and the Feds coughed up over $2.5 Trillion to save these entities, the Federal Deficit was at $13.9 Trillion Dollars and climbing, our jobs were being outsourced to other countries at a record pace, the country was at two, that's 2 Wars that have costs us over 8 Trillion Dollars and counting, etc,.
All this because of Bush and the Republican Economic Theory of "Trickle Down Economics". Nothing ever "Trickled Down", it all "Trickled UP, including our Tax Dollars and Jobs".
Keep up the great work Mr. President. Thanks for reforming our Health Care System so we don't have to continue paying for Deadbeats who refuse to buy Health Insurance and leave us with the bill. Thanks for ending the useless Bush and the Republican War in Iraq. Thanks for killing O.B. Laden and all the other terrorists that Bush and the Republicans chose to forget that were responsible for 9/11. Thanks for your level headed leadership.
So long to the Party of NO, you'll be gone after November 2012.
"Keep up the great work Mr. President. Thanks for reforming our Health Care System so we don't have to continue paying for Deadbeats who refuse to buy Health Insurance and leave us with the bill."
yeah, it doesn't matter that a majority of "THE PEOPLE" (you know the 99% that ows represents) were against it,only we protesters know what is right. everyone who disagrees with us (even thought they are the majority of the 99% we represent) are evil.
Wake up now?
The euro came into existence in 1999.
We invaded Saddam in 1990. Was Bush Sr. a wizard?
As for the article. I thought it amusing mindless idiots who disrupt a TV set and think in bumper sticker slogans calling people drones was hilarious.
Hairfarmer, how is "freedom of assembly," which is indeed GUARANTEED in the Bill of Rights (First Amendment), a violation of the Constitution?
All I saw were a bunch of dimwits walking in front of traffic.
josephmichael, the occupy movement isn't going to tell the faux tea party nothing. The Tea Party is a wing of Faux News and the Koch Brothers. The tea party was manufactured by the Neo-Cons.
It has been reported, and by the liberal media, mind you, that "occupyists" are being paid by the unions and ACORN. They are obviously unemployed, unaccomplished sheep who really don't have a clue what they are protesting for....other than to say "we don't like the rich and we want the wealth redistributed." This has created class warfare which has been laid out and planned step by step by the Obama administration the past few years with his communistic, socialistic rhetoric that the poor are buying into. He is running a campaign on attacking the republicans and accusing them of creating class warfare when it is really him and his admin on his watch that this all has been brought to the fore front.
So these morons stopped a legal media show from being made. Are they happy that the crew lost those wages? As crews aren't on a salary, maybe those morons can reimburse them for their loss.
They don't have a clue. Can't wait until one of these "actions" gets a result of angry citizens that puts a few in the hospital. "Occupy" my legal operation and you will be met with a hostile reaction.
Losers, get a job...or at least a marketable talent.
Time to "Occupy" the MSNBC offices in NJ and shut down their operation. That would be a laugh. Knowing some of that staff when they first started up, many were total AH's that thought nothing but themselves.
I remember how many bitched when they were towed from using the handicap parking for their own use screwing those that actually needed it. They were a bunch of spoiled crybabies who screwed the state's taxpayers when they took a huge tax credit for moving in, then moved out in violation telling the state to F**K Off.*
Mr 29
Please use the internet and do some research before you decide to comment. I am part of OWS and have a job. Quite a few of my friends are, and they all work! My friends and I, who are part of the occupy movement all earn above 50K per year, all have college degrees and all are in our 50s! 3 of us are totally debt free - no mortgage, etc.
Scalzo, one of the people I met at a protest has an MBA, if you know what that means, and he was un-employed. I have met teachers, finance, computer and management people who are unemployed - a lot of these guys have lost jobs. Stop listening to the likes of McConnell, Limbaugh, o'Really, et al. You say - get a job, where are the jobs? How about you give them yours? That is if you have one.
Michael,267231,.....The right to peaceful assembly is protected under the Constitution. But trespassing on private property, destruction of private property, littering ,inciting riots and stealing clearly are not. it was these behaviors, done by OWS protesters, that ruined their 'peaceful asembly' defense. Errant members and a lack of organization reduced their 'cause' to mob status.
@doug Ponder dude he was speaking of the invasion after 9/11 not the desert storm one we went there cuz one of our oil buddies was being jacked with by a guy we put in power...from what i understood it was a case of us securing our economy(thru oil) and owning up to the responsibility of putting a douche-bag in power.
Mr. 29
I think you don't know what Occupy is all about. The media has created a false image of Occupy. You call them the liberal media... Occupy isn't about partisan politics. They were not about student loans or even unemployment.
The movement began as a counter measure in response to the large tax incentives and loopholes given to a minority of American businesses and wealthy citizens that are actually illegal for anyone else to take.
They are against bailouts for banks. If banks can be negligent with their money, why should they be bailed out? People aren't.
They are about getting big money out of politics, because it's a conflict of interest. They are about ensuring that NO elected official democratic, republican or otherwise is able to hold an office while also serving on the board of any company or having a position within any company.
Occupy is more mobile and organized than you might think. MANY employed people, who can't go out and protest daily, are in support of the above mentioned actions. I am.
Class warfare.... I believe the corrupt, unethical practices of the wealthy is the official first shot, not the Occupiers. I'm calling BS on the claim that occupy has started class warfare. It began a long time ago.
I will say, our issues span more than one presidents term, more than one particular political party, and will not be resolved through finger pointing and childish school yard antics.
GROW UP people. We are responsible for our actions, inactions, and for turning a blind eye.
We've allowed our politicians to blind us with nit-picking issues that have no place in politics. Gay rights? It should be automatic, as automatic as the statement in the Declaration of Independence that all US citizens have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. ANY measures to limit the rights of others regardless of why is a blatant violation of this particular claim for Americans in the DOI.
Yet, as Americans we bicker about issues like that. So we were blind about what our congressmen/women were up to with not only corporate pressure to drive their actions, but the blatant and now obvious measures by companies to place people in office entirely "hired" by them, for them.
That is not a representation of the people, for the people, and by the people on any level regardless of political affiliation.
Trickle down FAILED. It was a lie.
Rich Americans have come out to say exactly that.
If we don't organize and take the initiative to act now we will see revolution and not a peaceful one.
Does the total irony of all these stuff excape you all? The show "ripped from the headlines" was in the real headlines. Art imatates Life imageates Art....Anyway... I still look the show!
What makes you think they are making fun of that protest. Law & Order puts shows up about current events. This right here is a current event. They are gonna show what happened their. Thats it.
Just another example of why the OWS crowd is an offense to intelligent people.
For those of you who support OWS, please explain to me what benefit there is in these protestors attempting to "occupy" a TV filming set/area?? You do realize that this kind of action usually results in the delay or shutting down of a film set until they either leave or are forcibly removed by police right? So, now you have filming delayed, which equals increased cost of production, delays in people working which usually means reduced pay for all of those who work by the hour, etc.
I appreciate the feelings of the protestors and share many of their concerns, but this mindless bs that they frequently engage in does nothing but hurt their cause in the eyes of anyone with any real intelligence. These kinds of actions tend to antagonize people who would otherwise support them. This is not the right way to go about getting changes made.
Unfortunately, it's what I've come to expect from most people. All emotion and no brains.
Many of these protesters are returning military vets. Can you imagine them shaking in their boots as they anticipate your "hostile" reaction?
Ironically, knowing Law and Order - they probably were going to show the OWS protestors in a good light.
The plot was probably gonna be something like "murder in the park, protestors suspected, web of conspiracy, turns out it was an evil banker that did the murder and is pinning it on protestors"
@ Common Sense
Many returning military vets do not support OWS. That fact niether lends or detracts credence to OWS.
What does detract from OWS is their push to have unconstitutional laws forced on America.
No matter how many media outlets OWS courts, no matter how many politicians, no matter how many radical leftists...it'll never change that piece of paper under glass in the National Archives.
OWS is a useless endeavour and smacks of a Socialist/Communist agenda.
@SabotAndHeat - Roger that....
Wakeup,
I have researched many of your claims. People need to make their own decisions about it.
To me you are a little paraniod. Your claims of the U.S. dollar falling apart soon, and not being accepted by foregn governments is wrong.
Secondly I don't think you really understand the situation in the first place. You claim the U.S dollar will end. Then in your last statement you said: "Hope you didn't spend all you had on worthless junk for Christmas."
I have news for you if the dollar falls apart it becomes worthless, so what does it matter if someone spent the last dime they had?
S&H
I have always enjoyed your posts. It's refreshing to read common sense once in awhile.
Asuras and Pat....my views of occupy have been formed by tv, the internet, newspapers and conversations. Your views are admirable...but from the interviews of the people occupying on tv....they don't have a clue or even share your ideas. Also, I never once said "get a job". I suggest you read comments carefully before attacking someone. Also....I don't make random comments and I don't make anything up. My comments have erred in the past, as most commentators have, but it was due to misinformation or not having enough information. Either way...I stand by what I wrote. I am glad to see some educated people in occupy, but you need to all get together on your goals and what you stand for.
@Hairfarmer
A- I don't see how anyone was "Poking fun" at the protests by including them in a tv show. Obviously the show was going to depict some crime that occurred at a protest.
B- There has been no violation of the Constitution. That garbage is getting REALLY old. The Constitution does not grant you the right to occupy anything nor does it give you the right to infringe upon the rights of others. No blocking sidewalks, bridges and ports. And it certainly does not give you the right to interfere with the production of a TV show as we see in this article. The OWS protesters frequently piss all over the rights of others so to hear any of you crying and whining about your own supposed "Constitutional rights" is a fckuing joke at this point. Get a friggin clue, PLEASE!
Uhm, josephmichael - defecating in public, having sex in public, spreading filth and disease, causing some small businesses to close down where they are because customers no longer want to go near the chaos and stench, and threatening to yank rich people out of their homes and take their wealth is your idea of a message to the Tea Party? REALLY? And if you think only Republicans are in the sack with big business and the only party for the rich, you are sadly, grossly ill-informed. But that's why you vote Democrat. Did you know that six of the top ten richest Congresspeople in Washington are Democrats, and three of the top five are Democrats? I'll bet you didn't. Did you know that Wall Street contributed more to Obama's campaign than McCain's campaign (and that's using the Republican reference very liberally there for McCain).
Wow dude. You are really out there, aren't you?
When Bush left office, unemployment was at 6.8%. It has hovered above 8% for the last three years, even after that trillion dollar "stimulus" bill was rammed through Congress that Joe Biden said "had to be passed to keep unemployment from going above 8%. And I hate to rain on your little fairy tale parade, but Congress really has more to do with the economy than the president since they control the purse strings (specifically the House of Representatives that Nancy Pelosi & Co. ran from Jan. 2007 to Jan. 2011).
The bank bust started with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac collapsing. Yeah the ones that Barney Frank said weren't in any trouble when Bush and five fellow Republicans tried to increase regulations on in 2004. To quote Barney Frank: "these two entities, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis."
And regarding the rest of your post, I'm not sure where you got a cost for $7 trillion for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, but that is grossly negligent of the facts. The TOTAL amount since the 9/11 attacks on those two wars has been about $1.4 trillion. Compare that to the wasted TRILLION we have seen with the failed stimulus bill that was supposed to create jobs according to you Democrat liberals kinda puts that into perspective, doesn't it? War cost FACTS: http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL33110.pdf . And Bush and the Republicans could not have gone to those two wars without Democrats in Congress. Unlike your guy Obama, Bush never went behind the backs of Congress nor even threatened to bypass Congress for his own greedy arrogant narcissistic power grab.
I'd suggest actually getting out there and researching facts instead of knee-jerk emotion hysterics and rants of which you obviously have taken zero effort in doing.
@Pat-1988241
Unemployment figures by state-North Dakota- 3.5%, Nebraska- 4.2%, South Dakota-4.5%, New Hampshire-5.3%, Vermont-5.6%, Wyoming- 5.7%. Just because there isn't the exact job you want for the exact salary that you want within a 20 minute drive from your home does not mean there are no jobs.
Amen backcountry. I have had to relocate no less than three times in 20 years for job opportunities. And when I mean relocate, I mean farther than 300 miles from where I grew up. What we are seeing with this "me me me" and "gimmie gimmie gimmie" mentality these days is the byproduct of an entitlement mentality - the exact mentality Democrat liberals want to expand and become the majority. They want us all to be whiners and dependers. That's how they stay in power.
Backcountry, 10tacle,
Great points, something most people don't think of. As for the OWS movement I believe in some of what they claim to stand for. However they really don't know how to get any of their messages out. Most of the time they revert back to social and class warfare.
Yes corporate corruption is a problem. However it is not as wide spread as people think. As for government you can't get anymore corrupt them them. Both sides Republican and Democrats. This is where the real issue lies. How do you blame the corporations when our government is the one taking the payments? Well you can, we should blame both sides that partake in such activities.
Thank you Backcountry. That's what I've been yelling for years. People in the cities who have 1 marketable skill and can't find a job kill me when they say they can't find a job. Get a new skill or a new address.
And the Tea Party is a useless endeavor that smacks of a Fascist/Dictator agenda.
Pick your poison. They are both sh--y, dangerous ideas that pose the single greatest threat to this country. They both represent extremism and they are both horrible ideas.
I will admit, however, that I fully support ANYONE who wants to get lobbyists out of Washington. I don't care what party you are, get ALL lobbyists and their corrupt money out.
@Bobby Jones Bia
Same to you and thank you. Take care.
@ IndieParty
Not quite as useless as you might want us to believe.
President Obama was the first President in 80 years to be rendered impotent in just two short years of being in office.
That was part and parcel to the efforts of the Tea Party and many, many other grass roots movements that help put a halt to his Socialist agenda. (No arrests, sex, public defecation required)
Many President Obama supporters scream that Republicans are preventing him from doing this... or doing that. They are!
Brought to you by our governments checks and balances. You might have learned about them in school had you not ditched class to smoke pot and attend study groups on Karl Marx.
flounder 2760,
Not valid. Sorry. If that was his track then he is spending too much time on Alex Jones' website.
Pop quiz.........how much oil did we get from Iraq? Before and after the invasion? Which country benefited the most (oil wise) post Saddam removal?
Josephmichael - you must have conveniently forgot that the Democrats Controlled the House & Senate the last 4 years of Bush. O'Bama would sure like to forget that small detail because every time he blames Bush for his own failures, O'Bama is blaming his fellow Democrats.
Wow...Okay...Haven't checked this comment for a bit...Here was my original point...The show seems to mock a serious movement...The movement has been lied about in the press...The movement has been peaceful. Yet...Many have been pepper sprayed, beat with batons, and arrested...The fact that a show would take that and make a profit off of it by mocking them is sick....We have they right to peacefully assemble...We have the right to protest our government...I just think it is sick that when people do this action...That some parasite would see that as an opportunity to profit...On the backs of citizens who are protesting corporate influences that usurp the very power we are supposed to receive from our elected officials.
Money is not speech...Corporations are not people...The system is broke and ALL our leadership is tainted.
Peace
But what about the chickens?
Law and Order is one of the most racist shows out there. It takes black on white crimes in real life and replaces the black purp with a white actor. Blacks are only victims on that show.
I dont understand? The 99% are helping the 1% make tons of money from a TV show?
What a dimwit. Blacks have made up more than a few cast members. Nor has every show been Black on White crime or the reverse. Maybe you would rather have blacks only as the suspect.
I don't understand Kilo. Are you saying you prefer a black person be the purp? Most serial killers are middle aged white men. And most of the crimes presented on L & O involve someone the victim knew...just like in real life. What does race have to do with anything?
SVU is a great show!! I dont know what show ur watchin, but SVU is not racist in any way, shape or form!! Maybe ur the racist one???...just wonderin.
Am I the only one who kept reading it as "mock uppy?" It seriously took me about 6 hours to get the pun.
This racist crap really needs to stop...anytime someone from a minority group feels the least bit slighted they drop the race card. I am by no means a racist and never have been but shut the heck up already with the race card. This PC crap is getting out of control!
Ghost-Wolf, of course you don't care. That's how they keep you complacent, by entertaining you. And if you're at home entertained, guess what you're not doing? Out protesting crimes committed against the American people.
yeah ghost-wolf, you are fat, stupid and lazy. ows is your intellectual superior and they are telling you what you should think and say so you better listen you fat, stupid, lazy scum
As if Fox "News" and MSNBC aren't doing that already.
make a change u lazy bastards wake the f up and get off ur asses.
Amber1, you are so right. You, too, Wake Up Now.
People, please realize what's happening. Makes very little difference, Rep or Dem (I've even stopped signing off with Obama/Biden 2012, although I will still vote Democrat). Makes little to no difference.
This entire planet is being ruled and manipulated by a handful (approx. 500) people/families who are members of the .00001%. The only reason things have gone as well as they have up until now for the US is that they know we have guns..........and lots of them.
OWS and everywhere else you can be. Revolution coming......
"...It's called Dualism..."
Oh, no! Another "ism"!
The OWS movement is easy to understand , it's nothing more then the "self esteem" movements, chickins coming home to roost. Spoiled children , upon graduation and it's subsequent dose of harsh reality , are upset because the $100,000 in debt that they incurred for their degree in bitterness studies, isn't paying off with a with a six figure job , a cool car ,and full benefits at an organic farm collective.
Won't even take that long.
Agreed with Huh935, maybe they should've researched their degrees before taking on the debt that they agreed to pay back.
Amber is a young, naive, il-educated, illogical Taker! "protesting crimes against the American people" like stealing something that doesn't belong to you? (The Park is privately owned! Not yours for whatever you like!) Like using facilities you do not pay for? The local McDonalds has to pay constantly! Like bullying small businesses in the area? Let them through to earn a living! They are paying for the buildings you block! Like Littering? Like rioting? Like urinating and deficating in public? The Occupy protestors are nothing but Hypocrites for texting and arranging to occupy a TV show, via their I phones and lap tops while living in tents from Walmart and Sleeping Bags made in China.
Amber obviously hallucinates a lot. She should get some help to get off the shrooms
Typical. Complain about people out there actually making a living.
This entire movement is designed to create a disruption of those working.
Exactly. This is nothing more than entertainment for these losers.
Yeah guys, don't you see they're just tricking us into thinking we have a good life by ensuring well over 99% of Americans have food, water, heat, shelter and entertainment! They're pulling the wool over our eyes and forcing us to live meaningless lives, when our lives could have so much more, like they do in most African countries!
Those evil corporations!
Idiots with no agenda other than disrupting, getting a little publicity, maybe three seconds of TV face time. Boring small-minded people, tramps and people with nothing better to do with their lives.
I must be part of the 1% then, because these 99% sure as hell don't represent ME.
And I live below the poverty line.
Loved the ones shown last night in Boston. Not one of them looked capable of getting employment. Anyone of them walking into a HR office would be thrown out. To them it was nothing more than a big party. loved the idiot banging on the sparkle bucket. These losers simply want their face on TV.
They can all bitch when they find out the overtime to control these idiots will be coming from the budgets of social programs.
"The objective is to get money out of politics."
Huh, hard to pick that one out of the literally hundreds of widely varied items various OWS protestors have advocated for. . .also included have been (snipped from various individuals' posts on the OWS website):
End all private ownership of land, Unionize all workers immediately, immediate debt forgiveness for everyone, free college education for all, lower retirement age while raising benefits, and reducing the work day to 6 hours.
If that one thing you mentioned was really their objective, you'd think after the amount of time they've been 'occupying', they could have made that clear. Instead, in article after article, interview after interview, they prove themselves woefully ignorant of economic fundamentals, and as a whole just another group looking for a handout. No, they don't represent the 99%.
OWS never has and never will represent 99% of the population. They can't even represent 5% of the population. Most Americans look at OWS as spoiled people wanting handouts who are unwilling to work. As long as OWS can't change their image, they'll never have much support from anyone. And as long as OWS can't provide any actual method of change that is viable, nothing will ever come of their so-called movement. I'm barely out of the poor category and OWS will never represent me. They are nothing more than a mob of people who refuse to work. They can't find jobs? Well, are they looking? Or are they sitting on their butts at OWS? OWS is a joke... and it's getting old.
Preventing people from getting to work, blocking traffic, vandalizing businesses, preventing filming of a TV show (if they actually did), and so on... these things do not IN ANY WAY help to accomplish any of their "goals." Unless their goal is to just annoy people. None of that will create change in the government or create jobs or anything else.
@Wake up
Paranoid much?
And if all these people don't have jobs and are poor, then how is it that so many of them have phones capable of tweeting messages all over the place? If they are so poor, then they shouldn't have cell phones to begin with. Learn to cut your costs to only the essentials and maybe you wouldn't be that poor.
* Note that I'm only referring to the people at OWS. Anyone who actually IS poor has my sympathy. I've been there. I even lived on a beach in Michigan for awhile when I didn't have anywhere to live. But those who flaunt their toys and then claim to be poor do not have my sympathy and never will.
OWS claims to represent the "99%", yet just look at the voting on the comments made here. Must be a conspiracy...couldn't be that OWS represents the minority rather than the majority they claim, could it now?
@Wake Up Now
The statement "99%" is a gimmick. They more accurately represent about 30% of America.
The rest of America understands that the debt that enslaves (and it does)... is a choice. So as the hard working 70% of Americans continue to pay taxes and bills, OWS will continue it's pointless endeavour to take Constitutional rights away based on income. (Stalin would be proud.)
P.S. Even if it is 1% vs. 99%...guess who would be paying 99% of our countrys taxes? The 1%.
Wake up and smell the Socialism OWS is pushing.
@wake For real, I am part of the 99% but I'm not sitting in a park whining about it. I'm working at my job and making the best living I can. These people represent us? I never asked a single one to represent me in a lazy, out of control manor. Represent me in the best way I represent myself. By providing for myself and my family. these people are pathetic.
allswell...
They don't represent me either...you are part of the "53%"...the club that consists of 'federal income tax' payers.
The OWS protesters represent '99%' of nothing and should not claim to be representing either you or me.
I think the real idiots are those who say the OWS have no agenda. Connect the dots. Occupy WALL STREET. What does wall street do Why they get into bed with govco and make things happen for them, all the while screwing over your average American. It's in the name: Occupy wall street. Make changes that prevents wall street from continuing on the path of destroying the US financially etc.
Ignorant fools. WakeUpNow ... the idea is to get money out of politics? That's EXACTLY what the Tea Party is all about and has been, as well as controlling spending and taxes for the WORKING PEOPLE. But you morons bought the lies from your liberal media that it is a racist movement with not ONE iota of proof. Too bad you can't think for yourselves.
Sheep. That's all you are.
JThomas2121,
You call OWS and WakeUp Now ignorant (?!) Guess you haven't heard that Koch (Scrooge) Bros. are the major funders of the Tea Party and its candidates. Those two work hand in glove with Karl Rove to pull dirty tricks and drown out the opposition with millions of $$ of trashing.
These are the same people that sit on their azz and talk about their friends behind their back, right after inviting them over to their house.
You of the sheeple mentality can sip that 5 dollar cup of coffee and get the #$%$# out of the way. Cause this isn't going away and getting on here spewing hate about stuff you OBVIOUSLY know nothing about....just makes this movement stronger.
You are the typical judgmental idiots, that are half the problem in this country today. You only care about yourself and nobody else. So do me a favor and hug that big screen tv and keep spewing hate you materialistic pieces of garbage. Cause you are obviously blind and this movement is growing behind the scenes faster that you can muster your favorite word hippie.
It will do what you don't have the common sense to do. It will force change and corruption out of politics and make people that claim to represent the public accountable.
This isnt about socialism...you fear mongering idiots. This is about the corruption that goes on right in front of your faces and destroys innocent peoples lives. Common sense 101 was something you needed, but can't be taught.
Move out of the way or stfu. Nothing you can say or do is going to change what is going to end up happening. But you sure can reap the benefits when it's done and talk about how "you were involved"
LMAO Sheeple. You make me sick.
@jthomas2121
you say there wasn't any proof that there was racism in the tea party movement? i saw with my own eyes signs at their gatherings that read "repeal the 13th amendment". as you know, this was to abolish slavery. i'm not saying that all tea party participants are racist, but you can't judge a whole group based on a couple of bad apples. there's always going to be the loonies. this also goes for OWS. the media is displaying the crazies and trying to discredit the whole group. there are nurses, teachers, veterans, and other working citizens involved. but you don't see them on the news very often for a reason.
@Wake Up Now
Give me a break. The "world 99% of America is given" is pretty damn good when compared the the rest of the globe. You say the movement is "worldwide", well guess what, if you look at it from a global perspective the "1%" is anyone making over 35k per year. If you think the rest of the world is sympathizing with a bunch of spoiled brats and middle-aged whiners you must literally have your head stuck up your @ss because you clearly don't have a clue about the state of things "worldwide".
Backcountry, wakeupnow will never understand! There's an old American Indian saying, "You can't wake someone who pretends to sleep!"
You can't judge a whole group based on a couple bad apples. Likewise, you can't judge a whole group based on a couple good apples. Much of the media bent over backwards in an attempt to put a positive spin on the OWS movement; to suggest otherwise is laughable. When even the hard left media outlets have trouble picking out the "good apples" because they are completely overwhelmed by the "loonies" it becomes painfully obvious that this particular basket of apples has gone bad even if there are still a few left that have not.
@DeMaris-3557936
you say there wasn't any proof that there was racism in the tea party movement? i saw with my own eyes signs at their gatherings that read "repeal the 13th amendment".
Those signs were probably in response to the satirical letter written to former President Abraham Lincoln to repeal the 13th amendment, which was written by a former Tea Partier in response to the NAACP's claim that the Tea Partiers are racists.
You can be for slavery and against racism just like you can be against slavery and for slavery. The people in the north had this stance (not all of them) of against slavery and for slavery. Which would explain why the 13th amendment has no claim of equal rights to minorities. That would be the 15th amendment, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and also the 14th amendment. These all gave rights to minorities. Now if they wanted to get rid of those then they would be racists. Slavery is an old concept as well, it has affected multiple races over a huge period of time.
Here is Wikipedia to prove this for me.
#Early_history
I am against racism and against slavery.
How do these OWS losers even know what kind of TV show "Law and Order" is? I have never seen a single episode of that show (I watch less than 3 hours of TV per month) and they're so broke and busy that they have time to watch TV shows?
People who watch TV shows are pathetic. I wouldn't stoop to that, I grew out of that crap at the age of 23. No TV show is worth caring about or following. They're all a bunch of crap.
yeah and if you don't agree with me then you are a pathetic loser because i am all knowing and always right about everything
MeanGene, take two aspirins, go back to bed. Tomorrow you might feel better. Otherwise the cranial/rectal surgery will have to be done on you.
I'm guessing that you don't like much of anything.
A great many references to yourself, meanjeanne. It is "I do this", and "I don't do that", again and again and again. The trouble is, you're posts are not particularly interesting.
...and I dislike the OWS movement as much as anybody.
Hmmm.
TV Shows are not worth following , they are pathetic, and they are nothing to care about?
Movies and Television have (and often do) the ability to make incredible impact on opinion. For the most part they are what moves societies general attitudes about people. Many minority groups have seen huge change as a result. From my personal perspective I have seen it for gays. The media took gay out of the shadows and into the living room with ever more sensitive portrayals to the point now that a gay character is presented as just another character, the fact that they are gay is secondary. From Hot L Baltimore and Soap through Movies about AIDs, Will & Grace, Ellen and now just about any show has either recurring or temporary gay characters...presented as we are...just another run of the mill man or woman (Albeit with just a little more taste and style!). And a gay teen, highly closeted and living in some small town all alone can learn they are not alone, and can gain the strength through such positive images. THis goes for a handicapped person, a racial minority and anyone else not in the so-called mainstream. There-in lies the contribution made.
To ignore or dismiss the social impact of the entertainment media is to demonstrate a fundamental lack of intelligence.
Well Mr. MeanGene (reminds me of the name Greenjean from Captain Kangaroo.) Why do you even watch the few hours a month. Does this mean you are less pathetic than the others? I doubt it very much.
Law & Order, which first aired in 1990, has been running on tv since well before the recession started. They may not be watching it now, but I'm sure at one point in the past decade or so they had jobs and could afford a tv. Since Law & Order is played on Network TV, they could watch it for free "over the air". And even if they never watched it, it's hard to not know it exists with the many commercials that are played for it.
frankly, do you know that 90% of the network shows are aimed at the 7th. grade mentality?
There are very few tv shows worth watching. Try the History channel, or Discovery, National geographic, or your local public broadcast station.
OWs want parity( socialism), but do not complain that actors make 40 million dollars for making a 90 minute movie, or that athletes make 60 million for playiong a game. But the people who finde cures and medecine to save lives will not make that much in their life. Teachers, who help form the next generation, are under paid, and under tested.
Nothing in life is always fair. If life gives you a lemon, demand tequila and salt.
Dopes. Their entire occupation of Zucotti Park was based on the right to free speech. Do the creators of this show not have their own right to free speech and artistic expression? I call this a strongarm form of censorship. What a bunch of hypocritical babies.
evelyn seriously girl, you have not been paying attention, you only have the right to free speech if you agree with them and if you don't agree with them then you are an evil greedy demon who should be killed
ows is a creation of anarchist who's goal is to destroy democracy and capitalism and the majority of their supporters are their useful idiots
Freedom fighters? Are you high?
Most of the OWS people out there are spoiled pissants looking for someone else to blame for their own failures.
The TV show had a right to use the space they had set aside. The protestors were trespassing at that point.
Oh, and because people STILL can't figure it out...WE ARE NOT A DEMOCRACY.
We are a constitutional republic. Try and learn the difference.
Wake Up...
you have a few hundred losers looking to be part of an event. Any event will do.
THe occupation of Zuccotti park?
(Funny they were invited to use it for a while, so how is that really an occupation--on that Logic I plan to Occupy my Brothers House for Christmas--hey he has a library, a cooking area....Hmm--we can even get a Pizza in if we like...ah del that is a side point...though unlike OWS I will not overstay my welcome, pee in the yard and yell at them)
What the "Occupation" was really about was the same group of bored anarchist types who show up for any anti-staus quo protests. Mostly spoiled college kids, leftover radicals and a very few true believers who are the first to abandon. Each has their own agenda, not usually in line with the focus of the 'movement'. Probably why the OWSers never really had an actual planer overall agenda. Self Righteousness abounds and it turns everyone off. I was a member of a protest group in the late 80s/early 90s. THose of us who cared about the real point of the group (AIDs Awareness) saw these anarchist types and 'free ranging radicals' infiltrate our group. THey did not cafe about AIDs, thy wanted us to fight innumerable causes clouding our main purpose. (Abortion Rights--Uh we were dealing with a virus that attacked gay men primarily...Abortion? Hello? Most gay men don't get each other Pregnant or get anyone pregnant as hard as we try! Prisoner Rights --Yes I think a Prisoner has a right to medical care, but as for the general criminal population...You did the crime--do the time., Housing (Not just for those who were dying but for anyone--I an see someone who has lost their home and is sick needing assistance here, but the general Homeless situation was not our agenda.
We mostly ignored these idiots, they were media whores (What we called them) who loved to get on TV, discussed how to get arrested as a positive thing, while the true problem was being addressed by the Guys (and a few women) who were focussed on the prize. AIDS support for those who are sick and Research. We achieved that and when the problem had enough attention, the group for the most part disappeared and we moved to organizations that gave direct support (Infrastructure)
But it was not about disruption with no focus.
And that is why we won
Democracy is the power of the many over the few. A republic is the equality of the few with the many.
Considering you just threw Zionist in there, you've lost a massive amount of respect and severely hurt your point.
Benjamin Franklin would disagree with that. Yes, the same one that was so involved in creating it, said "A Republic, if you can keep it."
I think the founding fathers understood the phrase "never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups" which is why they didn't institute a pure democrady. It was way before you conspiracy kooks invented the Rothschilds and every other bogieman you imagine hiding in the shadows.
You only have free speech if you agree with these unemployable hippies.
The right of Free Speech does NOT mean you can go into a church and say how much you hate God, unless you are a member of that Church and paid for it! You do not have the right to go into an privately owned Office, call the other Americans that work there, liars and theives unless you own the company that paid for the office! You do NOT have the right to live in a Privately Owned plot of Land, ranting about how much you hate Capitalism, while using your I Phones and Laptops, unless you own that plot of land! The right of Free Speech is in a Public Forum, not on Private Property YOU DO NOT OWN!
@Wake Up Now
ROTFLMAO!!! So let me see if I've got this straight. You believe in First Amendment rights BUT ONLY for those who don't have money. Right? How exactly do you plan on "getting the money out of our politics" WITHOUT destroying other peoples First Amendment rights? The First Amendment protects “Money in politics”, duhhhh. The Supreme Court has even upheld this idea. There is no alternative, either you support the First Amendment or you don't. This "it's my right but not yours" BS is getting really old and, quite frankly, proves the hypocrisy and illegitimacy of the OWS movement.
@ BackCountry 164
It's OWS's continuing effort to turn the word 'rich' into a bad word.
---------------excerpt from wikipedia.org-------------------------------------
According to the political theory of Marxism-Leninism developed in the early 1900s, the kulaks were class enemies of the poorer peasants, and were described by Vladimir Lenin as "bloodsuckers, vampires, plunderers of the people and profiteers, who fatten on famine." Marxism-Leninism dictated a revolution that would liberate poor peasants and farm laborers alongside the proletariat (urban and industrial workers). In addition, the planned economy of Soviet Bolshevism required the collectivization of farms and land to allow industrialization of large-scale agricultural production. In practice, these Marxist-Leninist theories led to years of conflicts and disruption of agriculture when kulaks resisted expropriation of their private property and Soviet officials responded with violent political repression.
The average value of goods confiscated from kulaks during the policy of "dekulakization" at the beginning of the 1930s was only $90–$210 (170-400 rubles) per household. Both peasants and Soviet officials were often uncertain as to what constituted a kulak, and the term was often used to label anyone who had more property than was considered "normal" according to subjective criteria. At first, being a kulak carried no penalty other than mistrust from the Soviet authorities. During the height of collectivization, however, people identified as kulaks were subjected to deportation and extrajudicial punishment, and those people were often killed.

Scream class warfare! Sounds 'Occupy Wall Street' familiar, doesnt it?
People...open your eyes... OWS is a Communist movement!
And the OWS counter-movement which is trying to turn the words "middle class" into "fat cats". This strategy has always turned out poorly for the upper class all throughout history.
@ Prag
turn the words "middle class" into "fat cats"
That makes no sense what so ever. I'm sure it's Socialist in nature but what exactly you are attempting to convey is beyond me.
The only thing counter to OWS is the Constitution of the United States.
Our system will gladly allow a "Fake and money-producing Occupy Wall Street protest" side show.
Shamefully, the protests by the Real Occupy Wall Street demonstrators calling for economic justice were hastily shut down!
This dichotomy is absurd!
Evelyn,
If this stupid "Law & Order" side show produces CASH for New York City, the city and the system will let this cast of pitiful TV characters - stay at Zuccotti park all year!
This is a grand display of Stupidity.
yeah cause the city of new york doesn't need money, money is evil. what will the city do with money but pay teachers and firefighter salaries. you can't get any more evil than that
wake up you are as delisional as the rest of them! Again another anti american progressive socalist that thinks his way is the only way to use the money!!! The motto of all progressivies it is my way or you are wrong!!!
There's been nothing peaceful about these protests. Given a small amount of time they devolve into anarchy and destruction.
Allswell, you haven't been reading anything but Faux News, I'll wager. Where have you heard about protesters attacking ordinary citizens, police, banksters...? No brick-throwers, no Mace-spraying occupiers, no Molotov cocktails. And they don't show up at BofA brandishing firearms, either.
Allswell, you must read or watch nothing but Faux News, I'll wager. Where have you heard about protesters attacking ordinary citizens, police or banksters??? No brick-throwers, MACE-sprayers or Molotov cocktail hurlers in the OWS crowd.
Contrast that with the scenes of law enforcement violence on PEOPLE. BTW, I still hold NY's Finest in high regard. A small minority lost control of themselves and perpetrated the violence.
Save the BS Fred. Here is what they are looking for..
http://www.sacbee.com/2011/12/06/4102143/is-there-more-to-the-pepper-spray.html
Their aim is disruption. They could care less who. Stand in front of my car and you will be looking at my drivetrain going by.
@25Walker
Hastily shut down?!?! What the fcku are you talking about? These things have been going on for months. Months of allowing people to break the law and illegally "occupy" a space before finally being cleared out after countless crimes have been committed and the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars by local businesses across the country is hardly "hasty". Honestly every time you guy open your mouths and spew a bunch of friggin nonsense you just discredit yourselves even further. If you are all so incredibly clueless why on Earth would you expect anyone to support your cause.
Evil?
Justice is more important than money.
By allowing a "Sham Occupy Wall Street Law and Order" parody of the True Fight for Justice - the city of New York just proved that it values money more than equality.
To further inform you, New York City is reaping in plenty of Revenue.
Contrarily, the city is laying off teachers.
...I wonder where the money is going?
Your comment is symbolic of the typical Right-Wing backwards thinking!
Backcountry164
@25Walker
Backcountry,
Where have you been?
Apparently, you have slept for the past 31 years!
How skewed and myopic your "vision" is!
You grieve that the Occupy Wall Street protests lasted too long.
Great news!
With the exception of many of the swat-team raids on many of the encampments our informed citizens are continuing the struggle for economic, political and social equality.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#45606893
If you think that the 2 months the New York City Wall Street Occupiers encamped at Zuccotti Park was too long - here is one for you!
The Looting Spree of America started in 1980 with the election of a Republican President.
If you open a history book, you will see who was that president.
I do recall that the decade of 1980 was aptly dubbed "The Decade of Greed!"
From 2000-2008 and for 8 LAWLESS years, America was economically robbed by Wall Street, the Banks and Corporate America. The crimes of these 3 entities includes securities fraud, insider trading, perjury, mortgage fraud, robo signing, TAX evasion, phony corporate headquarters in strange exotic locations and union busting!
You want to talk about "thousands of dollars" lost?
Because of the rampant illegal fraud from 2000-2008, our citizens have lost millions of jobs, pension and retirement funds, home equity, health care benefits and employee benefits.
We have 14 million of our citizens unemployed, an unemployment rate of 9%/16% in the African American community and a 25 Billion Dollar Bail-out package for the Banks.
Wall Street, the Banks and Corporate America have drained the U.S. Treasury of Trillions of dollars!
Backcountry, if you can tolerate the Grand Thefts committed by the 3 shameless entities then a little bit of trampling on the grass by the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators should not offend you.
Every time you Right-Wing Masochistic Self-Defeating Fascists drip words from your mouths it only proves how ignorant you all really are.
If you want to sink yourself economically, politically and socially please do so.
However, you and your ilk can keep your Reactionary policies in your "Neck of the Woods" Backcountry.
GOP junk has collapsed America.
It is mind boggling to see so many "average" Americans still willing to participate if their own demise.
Stay at Fox...this is a forum to move America in a forward direction
The Progressives do not need you here!
Wake Up Now,
Your point is excellent!
The position of the Right Wingers here is:
"I've already made up my mind - don't confuse me with the FACTS!:
Through their bad political choices, when these Right-Wing supporters realize that they have lost ALL of their Democratic Rights - maybe they will "Wake Up."
I think this one statement pretty much sums up your drivel and is little more than your typical, "it's all George Bush's fault". Gee I've never heard that one before. FYI, I'm not "right wing" I'm a Libertarianso I can clearly see the BS coming from BOTH sides. As horrible of a President as Bush was he was essentially a mini-me version of Obama. Funny how you cut off your complaint about "rampant illegal fraud" at 2008 as if it suddenly stopped when Obama was elected,ROTFLMAO!!! You are as big a problem as the people you whine and bitch about because like them you refuse to see any fault in your own party. The only difference between the progressives and the ultra conservatives is that the progressives want "rampant fraud" to be limited to the realm of government. Aside from that you Progressives will bankrupt this country in a blind effort to "save" it from your own imaginary boogie men. Thank God the American people are starting to wake up and realize that the mistake of electing a left leaning, big government, big regulation conservative like Bush was only compounded when they elected an actuall far left liberal like Obama. I feel pretty confident that even this crop of loons and has-beens the Republicans are putting forward will be able to take the White House and I am equally confident that none of them could be stupid enough to emulate the mistake of the last Republican to reside there. And that's a good thing because Obama seems not to realize that his policies are an utter failure and have severely worsened the mess that Bush created. At least the Republicans can see the mistakes they made between 2000-2008 even if they won't admit to them.
Last time I checked the republicans were finally coming to the realization that smaller government is the way to go. Only a progressive with his head stuck so far up his @ss that it's physically impossible to remove it could possibly believe that MORE government intervention somehow preserves "democratic rights". The bigger the government gets the fewer rights people are left with, I guess to some that really doesn't matter as long as they aren't personally affected and as long as that government keeps a hand out for them to hold on to.
@ Fred,
Ironicly, I haven't read Fox News since the protests started. Instead, I've listened to people who have had 1st to 3rd hand knowledge of the protests.
@ 25Walker
Not a right-winger, a moderate. Not that anybody remembers what that's like.
25walker
Yeah starting in 1980, boy if Jimmy Carter would have won we would have had it made. Fanny-Mae ring a bell? Giving anyone a house that had no credit whatsoever? It takes money to build and keep up a house. Or 1980, the decade of normal ole Joes going out there and building empires through hard work? This is the land of opportunity, I am a real life survivor that came from an "underprivileged" house hold. My father did not really have a father figure. But he made it his goal not to sit around for handouts and to make sure that I had it better and I had the opportunity to achieve, which I have. I did not sit around for handouts but worked hard. You sound like the type that would take GPA points from the 4.0 kids in college and handing out to the 2.0 kids so they can get by. I wonder what you do for a living?
I do hope people realize MSNBC, where we are reading this, is also part of NBC just like L&O. Bottomline, it didn't take long to turn the "Occupy" movement into a money maker. Probably have a "Special Report" on Rock Center with Brian Williams next Monday! Soon political candidates will start spending the night in tents. Hell, this very comment is going to Facebook & Twitter.
Face it Occupiers your cause has been outflanked and is now being used...
And what's wrong with making money off this silly movement? I think the only reason these crybaby OWS protesters did what they did to the L&O set was exactly for the publicity. I mean come on, if the OWS movement wants to be taken seriously, they can't be throwing temper tantrums every time someone (or for heaven sakes a stupid, fictional TV SHOW) makes fun of them. TV shows and even the media make fun of everyone else, including politicians, but you don't seem them ransacking stuff and pretty much acting like hooligans. Goes to show the OWS movement is made up of mostly young, immature people that really have no idea what it is to have an intelligent discourse on the topics for which the OWS movement is supposedly about. If the OWS movement wants to be taken seriously, whatever leadership there is, needs to stand up now and condemn the act that took place against the L&O set and clearly state this is not what the OWS movement is about. Unless of course, being a bunch of cry babies who throw tantrums over a stupid TV show making fun of them is what they want people to associate with the movement.
They probabl;y occupied it because they knew they served free food. isn't that the entire point of this event?
Something For Free.
They are a joke.
Wanted: Philisopher
Salary: 6 figures
Benifits: Pay off all student loans; Company car; Housing provided; Medical and Dental; 4 day work week; 2 months paid vacation.
Must be willing to work.
The last one was a deal breaker for OWS.
Who is Ralph?
Ralph is the sound an OWSer makes whenever they taste Freedom and Liberty! It gags them! They love only the taste of the Socialist Teet of totalitarianism. They want anarchy and the total downfall of the best Country in the world, where Freedom and Liberty still have a chance!
After I retire next week I plan on protesting OWS and their thug tactics.
How long do you thing it will take before OWS tries to stop MY right to "Freedom of Speech"?
Chanting - all night long, resulting in repeated complaints from local residents, including the elderly and many in the 99% they claim to represent, who can't sleep over the noise. But hey, it's for their own good, right?
Peaceful - like the various assaults, widespread vandalism, defecation on a police car, drug use, verbal abuse of fellow "99%'ers" on their way to work. But hey, it's for their own good, right?
I'm sure wearechange.org spent an equal amount of time highlighting these incidents as well as scenes of peaceful protesting, right? Sure.
OWS is afraid to admit they were formed by anarchists and people who get woodies off of "fighting the Man".
Right, cause OWS are totally innocent bystanders right? you immature little brats didn't do anything to deserve being punished for, right? The rapes and assaults, the drug overdoses and the verbal assault of anybody not involved with OWS who are trying to get to their JOBS (I know you don't have a job so you wouldn't understand how important it is to be there on time) shutting down a harbor, costing how many thousands of dollars in loss? Because what, you realized that by the time you pay off your college education, you're great grandchildren will be ready to kick the bucket themselves?
You know what I do to my son when he throws a temper tantrum? I discipline him. Sounds like your parents never disciplined the whole lot of you.
If a silly TV show is enough to rankle the OWS movement, you folks need to grow thicker skin. I mean, really, a TV show gets you all up in arms? A TV SHOW? Goes to show that the majority of OWS protesters are young, immature, people who throw a temper tantrum when a TV show (for godsakes) makes fun of them. Really? REALLY?!? I just lost all respect for the OWS movement... *shakes head in amazement *
I was fixing to punch in a comment very similar. It makes me laugh when these individuals are supposedly attempting to make a statement and SQUIRREL!! Wait what was I saying? Oh yea, When they get sidetracked from the point their attempting to make because SQUIRREL! of a TV show.
Now that I've made my point with the Squirrel references that jump to a Disney movie and are intended for humor's sake, I think it's safe to say that these individuals who are at these OWS movements are adolescent at best in maturity. If it's more important to have Law and Order filming an episode than to state their point, then they're obviously not truly dedicated. On the other hand, that's known well enough due to the history of the OWS movement showing a lack of mature leadership.
They can stop any time now. They've made fools of themselves for far too long.
I'm gonna go with The Emperor's New Groove for $500, Bob. Way to derail a thread!
Maybe even Invader Zim. "I saw a squirrel, he was going like this *squirrel face*" Yeah, I just wrote that on a "grown-up" website...
"Aww, my bees."
"I'M DANCING LIKE A MONKEY!"
And in true fashion, what the the OWS is singing:
"Lets all sing the Doom Song! Doom de doom doom doom doom doom, doom doom doom..."
I cannot believe that our law enforcement continue to let the OWS people get away with breaking the laws. Destroying property, breaking into homes, destroying other people's property ... They all need to be arrested and thrown in jail. They are a burden on our society ...
Get a life OWS ...
Then get a job!
Unfortunately it is my tax dollars that continue to support these OWS losers who continue to drain public resources and refuse to contribute to society in general. Honestly I don't get how these hypocrites can justify ransacking a TV show and expect to be taken seriously.
Umm, I hate to break it to you but many of us, including myself, graduated with big educational loan debt. But you know what? We went out and worked, and are slowly paying off those loans. And you know what, for some of us, that means working at McD's, Wal-Mart, etc.
Your comment sums up the problem with our society... there is a growing sense of entitlement... "I should be able to go and take out loans for college but not have to pay them back." "The government OWES me." "It's not fair that someone else makes more money than me." "I'm too good to work at McD's or Wal-Mart!". Crap I say. The OWS movement is about a bunch of cry babies who were told growing up that life is always fair, that there are no winners and losers, and that you're entitled to happiness without working for it. Again, that's crap, and you know it. If you want something, work for it. And stop blaming YOUR problems on EVERYONE else.
@Wake Up
Maybe its time you woke up yourself. Not everyone gets to be a rocket scientist. Not everyone gets to be President. Not everyone even gets to be a garbage collector.
Some people are meant for far, far less. Stop lying to yourselves, get off welfare, and accept the jobs you're actually qualified for.
Oh, and a college degree? Doesn't mean @!$%#, you aren't entitled to a job cause of it. Getting one is the risk you take. You accept the debt and the responsibility that comes with it.
You can't handle it? DON'T DO IT!
As I always have to reclarify, "you" is untargeted in most of my posts. It is a general netting.
Again, I am below the poverty line. But I still make all my bills and never took more debt than I knew I could handle.
I also know that if I had not been able to get the job I got, I would've went and worked fast food or as a farm worker before I'd ever take welfare.
WUN - You ever hear of the Peter Principle? In general it states "A man rises to the height of his own incompetence". Obviously your "full potential" means squat or is unrecognizable by anyone but yourself. Typical of the present generation of all winners no losers. "I am special because I was told that all the time growing up." I feel sorry for you but hopefully some day you will wake up and realize that that life you had growing up was a fairy tale that you lived through. Life is a bitch and not at any time fair to everyone. There needs to be differences socially, economically, and intellectually. Without those differences we may as well all be robots who all act, dress, and live exactly the same. No thinking outside the box. No advances in any field. At that point, nothing but puppets for the entertainment of those in power.
Hey, I see you brought your intellect, or lack thereof. First, I believe Alls to be stating, not everyone gets what they want or think they deserve. Secondly, to insinuate someone to be Aryan (see the spelling?...) because of a general comment such as that, makes you awfully petty.
I think the better way to put this, and I qualify as one of these individuals, is to say that we have a FREEDOM of CHOICE and we can CHOOSE to do what we wish. I have to agree with NJ-Adam on his entitlement rants completely. You CHOSE to go to school. Now because you bought into the advertising regiment of the colleges who were trying to sell you can education, you feel like you deserve or have earned the right to complain?
Look, life isn't fair buddy. You have every right in the world to educate yourself on the college(s) you'd like to go to and at what expense to you or your family it may cost you. Quit blaming it on the individuals who are "Rich and Powerful" - You know how they got there? They busted their asses. And they educated themselves in the process to make wise decisions. Stop crying and whining. The majority of the "Rich and Powerful" weren't thrown in their positions, they EARNED them.
Stop trying to ride in the wagon all your life and get out and help pull the wagon. We are out of money because the country has become a bunch of give-mes. Go out and get a job and contribute to society instead of being a deadbeat and contributing zero.
seems to me adam is brainwashed
Sickofit, yeah, I'm brainwashed and I admit it. I was taught to earn my way and take responsibility for my actions and in-action. I was taught to earn an honest living. I was taught if I wanted more than I had to earn it. I was taught that nothing in life is free. I was taught to respect myself and others. But most importantly, momma always told me that life ain't fair. Plain and simple. There will always be people who make more money than me, are better looking, have better jobs, get better chances, and to live with it. That's life. You have the power to make your life what you want it to be.
So if you're truly "sickofit", then get off your lazy ass and do something about it! But stop blaming everyone else for your problems.
And for the record, I'm very much part of the "99%" as you call it. But perhaps I'm the 1% of the 99% who understand that I'm where I am because of me, not because of some "faceless" conspiracy to "keep me in my place."
Or your perceived fundamentals on basic living instincts are skewed.
Adam is right...
I have worked since was 15, and I had a spell last year where I was jobless...almost to the point of being homeless. I kept trying and it finally paid off. But I didn't blame my momma or something in my upbringing like a lot of people do when they get caught doing something they shouldn't, or just won't do anything to get out of their problems because they think they deserve better.
These protesters think they should be allowed to have their debts erased....I saw a girl in an interview one day who actually said that about her school loans...it amazes me how some of you people support this garbage, yet put down the President or someone else because you say they do nothing they should.
I have school loans AND debt AND I still work for a living and I have no qualms about it. I like my job, which, by the way I worked very hard to get and work very well at, and although I think deserve to be paid a but more (like most of us do), I still know I am a very fortunate woman who appreciates what she has and knows she lives in the greatest country in the world.
BTW...Law and Order SVU is one of the best shows out there...but if you don't like being "highlighted" on it, don't continue to do things to be talked about. You want your message put out there...well there ya go..
babies...
I made the CHOICE to attend college... a lot of it. I ACCEPTED the costs involved. I am still PAYING those loans and will continue to do so. I didn't have to go to college. I could have gotten jobs without it. But I wanted to learn more and have more opportunities. And guess what... I DO have more opportunities thanks to my college education. You are not guaranteed to find work just because you have a degree. And you aren't guaranteed AT ALL to find work in your field of choice. Especially if your degree is in a miscellaneous field (Liberal Arts, for example) or if it's in a field that doesn't have many positions available (such as various Scientific degrees). However, you will have more knowledge (if you actually attended class) and that will help you in other kinds of jobs that may be available outside of your field of choice.
No one is entitled to anything. If you want something, then work for it. If you still can't get it, work harder. If you STILL can't get it, then you don't need it. Life isn't fair. There ARE losers. This garbage of "everyone wins" is idiotic and should never have been taught to kids. Grow up and accept life. Take responsibility for your own actions instead of expecting everyone else to take care of you.
Looks like "wake up now" needs to wake up. We all have debt, some more than others. But you learn to live within your means. If that means that you work at WalMart then that's what you do ... A job is a job. And there are a lot of them out there. But too many people "expect" to start out at the top, and are not willing to work there way up. I know a lot of people who started out working at McDonalds and at WalMart that are making a great living. Why? Because they were willing to work, accepted responsibility, and lived within their means.
So to wake up ... wake up ... This is life.
Maybe if Wake Up Now spent all their time working instead of b*tching they could pay off their debt.
Allswell, Talk to the Hand, Xaziol, et al,
For the record, I'm 63, have worked all my life and mostly through college (P/T) except for a 8-month period of unemployment due to a layoff. So I get your points about responsibility and working to achieve one's goals.
However, I wouldn't assume that a large % of the OWS people and their sympathizers are not working at all or not actively looking for work to some extent. If you've seen actual survey data on this, please let me know and cite the source.
I fully agree with what to me is the essence of their beef: that those with extreme wealth have used that wealth to influence lawmakers and the Exec. Branch to make and enforce laws that increase their wealth and power at the expense of the so-called 99%.
Yes, life is unfair - I know; I lost my mother when I was 17. But just saying "grow up, get tough, get a job and bust your a** or get out" is like saying that to a slave in the antebellum South or to a sharecropper or a dustbowl farm owner in the 1930's.
The America I want for my children and grandchildren is one in which our citizens' basic needs - food, clothing, shelter and health care - are a given. We surely have enough resources to guarantee that. Someone who reports $1 Million in income (after utilizing the many tax breaks that are unavailable to the rest of us) should be ashamed to say they'd sorely miss paying an extra 10 grand in taxes. And the rest of us should be ashamed to say they wouldn't give up a 2nd 42" TV or a new car every 3 years in order to provide such guarantees. Charities can provide lots of safety nets, too.
We're turning into a dog-eat-dog, Darwinian society. Is that what you want for your children?
Survival of the fittest would solve so many problems in the world...
</half sarcasm>
@Fred -
You have a far better understanding of complaints that Americans, in general, have to make. Doesn't make it associated with OWS. Personally, when I hear OWS, I think of low-life scum. I don't mind listening to their points of view, so long as it makes sense, but the majority of the time, I may as well be talking to a brick wall.
Now, that being said, I don't exactly view the fundamentals that you're questioning to be specifically associated with OWS so much as I believe them to be fundamentals we should question as a society. No one is satisfied with the way our government has been operating, but do you really see anything changing? Especially by a group of hooligans calling themselves the OWS? OWS is FILLED with hypocrisy. So without putting a label on the issues of America, it actually makes sense to listen too.
You make a valid point, but many of the individuals we see backing OWS have absolutely no intellect. Scroll back up, take a look at Wake Up's post and try to locate some logic in his posts. You're talking about a mildly-educated college grad, commenting on personal issues and claiming to be a part of a group that scrambles to grasp entitlements because there's a sense of missing gratitude? I'm sorry, but that logic is just piss poor.
I'm also not saying that you have to bust your ass, but earning your way is the American way. Fact is, you have to work, you have choices to make in life, and the choices you make depict where you'll be later in life, if not currently in life.
I believe everyone wishes that for the next generation, and generations thereafter. But to guarantee those aspects is asking for entitlements. I'm pretty sure you understand that. You can sit there and state that you wish the wealthy would distribute down the tier to the lower-level income classes all you want, but you're not going to get any sympathy from them, or myself, and I'm low/middle class myself. I don't ask that anyone give me anything, but allow me the oppurtunity to obtain these things for myself and future generations. There's an old saying, I'm sure you're aware of the quote: "You can't help others if they can't help themselves" - and I may be misquoting, but the general idea is there. If you assist someone who doesn't or won't help themselves, then you're fighting a losing battle. They'll end up throwing away all that you've done for them, because they don't have the will to manage themselves. Allswell actually makes a good point on that matter - Survival of the fittest would solve many of the problems in the world. Sad to say, but as a nation, we have cared for far too many individuals, and now that they have been cared for, they're expecting more. What happens when you feed a stray cat, may I ask? It comes back for more, and expects more.
As long as I have been alive, it has always been dog-eat-dog. As far as it being a Darwinian society, eh, possibly. But the fact remains, that there's a choice to either fall down the Darwin theory ladder or evolve to be better. It depends on your choices, yet again. So realistically, it's completely up to the individual on which way, or how, they represent themselves. I don't think entitlements or being handed a future is the best route. At what point does someone actually learn and evolve if they are not made to fail at points?
Our society isn't built to be perfect by any means. It's pretty safe to say that it's an overrated ideal.
The OWS brown shirts don't like anyone making a TV show referencing them? Too bad. I thought part of the OWS agenda was about freedom. I guess I was wrong.
The failures of the Republicans party trying to take away SS and Medicare so they can give their wealthy Blackmailers more money...To hell with the poor and needy. Let them freeze in the winter and stave the old and babies, let them die from bad water, do away with the EPA and thats what you'll have, just like all you Teabaggers want...You make me sick with your Me Me Me altitude. It just a matter of time before the masses raise up against you . Greedy and you all call yourself Christains. What a laugh: Your no better than the Muslims you all hate. Wake up America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WAKE UP: "
And the democrats want to punish everyone that's successful by taking all their money away and redistributing it until everyone is poor... well, everyone except the democrat politicians, they'll still be rich! Because some pigs are MORE equal than other pigs ... and then they're going to be sure EVERYONE is paid the same .... well, except them, they'll still get more.... and then they're going to force everyone to buy hybrid cars and solar houses that they can't afford... and ... and... they're going to force everyone to become a vegan... because eating meat is bad!!! and...and then they're going to turn everyone gay!
--sorry, I thought maze's hyperbole needed some balance ;)
Jax, Democrats want everyone to be rich. Or atleast comfortable. (You see, they understand that we all do better, if we all are doing well)
Republicans believe most people should be poor, and work to keep it that way. (It makes them feel bigger I think)
Figure it out.
Right Freedom, just like "everyone" in Cuba is rich.
Oh, wait...
You actually think anyone intelligent is going to buy your socialism BS? If laying down some rules, is socialism, then bring it on baby!
..... This is why the Republicans are clueless as to the sentiment of the general public. See you next election.
You think anyone intelligent is going to buy your incessant anti-establishment whining? If personal responsibility is part of capitalism, then bring it on baby! (Ooooh, worn-out catch-phrases AND italics!)
This is why OWS is so oblivious to what the country really thinks of them. In their mind, they really do think they represent 99%, when they're really more like the .09%. They honestly believe their numbers are growing when almost all the encampments have finally been sanitized. They really believe they are the majority, when, in fact, the majority continues to laugh at them.
See you next election, too, but please, do us all a favor and bathe before then.
How can the government continue to spend money that it does not have? Protesters expect an unlimited flow of money just like their daddy gave them. Well the gravy train is stopping and you better get a job and contribute to society.
Maze stop blaming people you don't know for the problems of people you don't really care about. You come off all high and mighty, when you have no idea what your talking about. This country was built on hard work not a hand out! Personal responsibilty is what matters, not blaming and expecting a freebie.
Jax is just another paid blogger. Ignore him. Besides his statements are obviously inaccurate and untrue.
Hilarious. Anytime someone gets debunked, they claim the debunker is a paid blogger.
Boo hoo!
Didn't Saturday Night Live already do a piece on the OWS movement? If a person or group is going to be in the spotlight as these people have insisted on, well there you have it. They are subject to the same whims of the media inclluding shows like SVU, as any hollywood star or other famous person who wants to be at the center of attention. I am quite sure SVU is at least paying scale for these people to be there. If the OWS movement is offended by SVU, my advice go home, stop draining the resources of the communities you are occupying and for Gods sake stop whining.
The best part is how can the Tea party disrupt Rupert Murdochs network when they shill for the Republican backed Newscorp, that being said who owns who in America?
OWS is proving its juvenile mindset more and more. They're just like little kids.
They want to take out college loans, but don't want to pay them back.
They want to trespass and camp out indefinitely on property that isn't theirs, and get mad when they're told they can't. Then, they honestly believe it's not their duty to clean up after themselves.
They want to complain about lack of jobs, but refuse any sort of job that might be available because it's not something they feel like doing, or they feel they're too good for it, or it's too far away, or it's too cold, or their back hurts, or they have a hangnail, ...or....or...etc...
They want to complain about life not being fair for months on end.
They want to scream and cry, but when you ask them exactly why they're screaming and crying, they can't answer you. When you ask them what you can do to stop them from screaming and crying, they can't answer that either, because they were never sure why they were screaming and crying in the first place.
And then, after all this, they don't want to be made fun of.
You will find out soon enough, "Jax", that you are a minority. And mocking OWS, only builds more support for it. The middle class have had enough, we are putting our guys in power. This has been a very long time coming.
I am thinking it is you who is in error. This movement wants to be the center of attention? Well like anyone else in that postion they should expect no less than anyone else who wants to be in the spotlight. If Saturday Night Live, all of the late night talks shows or some syndicated telvision series want to make fun of them or use them as background filler, they brought that on themselves and have no right to complain. Most of the people I know do not support OWS or any of its splinter groups and wish they would grow up, get jobs and go home. Besides they probably got paid Union Scale for doing what they do the rest of the week for free. NOTHING!!!!!!
As far as mocking OWS is concerned, when they provide unlimited ammo how can you with their public actions and comments, well, how can you not?
Enough is enough. This is NOT a protest this is simply a demonstration to disrupt people who have jobs and want to go to work. I have a right to the park and I am being kept out because of a bunch of lazy welfare leeches.
Joyce: What percentage of the OWS people do you suppose are homeless, drug addicts, criminals looking for a thrill or as you put it welfare leeches. They only hang out with OWS as it insures they get fed and have a place to sleep. I think the percentage would surprise us. When I have to travel out of my way as they deny me access to where I need to go, does absolutely nothing to engender my support for them.
Jax A: where do you get your infro from...People that go to college knows they will have a debt....Most people are not born with a siver spoon in their mouth. If there where jobs and good paying jobs there wouldn't be an OWS movement. But then again its the Rich Greedy Bast*ard that want all the money. I don't give a sh*t if they make ten billion dollars..but the people that work for them should share in some of the wealth. So ALL YOUR BS is BS like all your RepublicanPUKES and teabaggers. You just listening to the radio shows that spews out lies. They all laughing on the way to the bank.
Well Maze why don't you own your own business or bank then. Stop expecting something for nothing.
maze, you're showing your age, and trust me, that's not a good thing.
If you don't think a large number of OWSers are screaming about not having to pay back their student loans, you haven't been paying attention.
There ARE jobs in the country, just not as many as we'd all like, but there are good paying jobs, especially in the STEM disciplines (science, tech, math, and engineering). Jobs like these are sitting empty across the country, without enough people to fill them. Talk to any HR person looking to fill these roles, they'll explain it to you. There are great paying jobs in North Dakota in their booming oil industry. Like in any bad economy, you have to work harder to find the better-paying jobs. Weird how protesting and camping out for months on end in a park doesn't magically find that job for you, huh?
Sorry if capitalism offends you, but the "rich greedy bast*rds", as you so eloquently put it, share their wealth by paying people's paychecks. You agreed to wages when you took the job. No one forced anyone to take (or to keep) a job they didn't like, or for which they didn't like the pay. If you want a better paying job, go get one. If you can't, be creative and create one. Invent a new product or service and become a billionaire yourself. Then divide your billions equally amongst all your employees if you're so inclined, no one is stopping you. NO ONE.
If my company is laughing at me all the way to the bank, great, because they're paying me decent money to do a job I actually like, so I'm laughing too. And me, my company, and most of the country ARE laughing at the OWS whiners, because they seem to be oblivious to just how comical and delusional they truly are. Your perpetual and ignorant self-pity is great entertainment.... if nothing else.
And conservative dogmatists (I know it's giving you more credit than you've earned) need to read something other than the bold face characters on the web pages. Glad you enjoy your job. If you think you are going to have it indefinitely, or even for as long as you want or need it, you are the only one who is delusional. And no, it's not funny. You and the other arrogant, selfish ass#oles will learn the hard way. The only difference between you and them (unemployed Americans) is about one or two years (max) of this economy. Hope you enjoy the show then. Dumbas$
No Blue, Collar, my pattern has been to change jobs about every 4 or 5 years, so I already know I won't have it forever. Either I get bored, or management changes, or in one case, my company closed, but I always find something new, either way.
I know nothing is permanent, especially in my case, but I have a knack for being responsible and finding new and better paying jobs as time goes on and my career progresses, even in bad economies.
Thank you, I will be enjoying "the show" because even if something unexpected happens (and it has, multiple times in my life) I know I'll be able to find work. I've done it before, and have already witnessed the "hard way" more than once. All while whiners like you sit around calling responsible people like me "ass#oles" and how you self-prophetically scream that "our lives will suck someday too." Brilliant.
Focus your effort on bettering yourself instead of your petty envy, you'll be able to enjoy a job too, someday. Maybe.
Really Freedom, what am I going to "find out soon enough", exactly? Try your hardest to be specific. You can do it! Explain it to me, I'll wait patiently.
Very interesting points. Good post!
There is an agenda, make the banks and wall st. responsible for the crimes they have committed. That is the short version so those that lack focus can "Get It".
Really LittleOhRed? What about the other 20+ items on the OWS website, like "forgive all student loan debts" and "no more foreclosures" and "don't support companies that test on animals?" Those don't count?
If this pisses off OWS I might have to start watching the show.
Yeah and try removing your head from your ass while you're at it.
Try cleaning yours.
No allswell, you have just been brained washed by Faux News to believe the Rich and Powerful Neo-Cons have your best interest at heart. Like it or not you are a 99%er, and in spite of your criticism of them they fight for your best interest as well as the rest of the 99%.
Roger we,
Which begs the question of why aren't you glued to Fox News for your marching orders?
As before stated, don't actually watch Fox News. Too full of fear-mongering idiots and Glen Beck.
I'm part of the 53%. The "99%" can kiss my ass until they understand how little they're actually representing.
THROW ALL THESE WORTHLESS PUKES IN THE POKEY!
THEY ARE A DISGRACE TO THIS COUNTRY. Marxists, dopers, losers, lazy welfare bums, leftist anti-americans, anti-capitalist lawbreakers, they only beg to be given and GIVE nothing but whines. They are pathetic pukes and I SPIT on them and their anti-american marxist 'cause'. LOCK THEM UP, they are indecent pukes, one and all!!!!!!
Don't be silly, he was obviously referring to News Corp and The recipients of the $7.7T, when Bush gave away the country to the bankers. Now that's a disgrace to the country. If this is who he is talking about, I'm with him.
LOCK THRM UP ONE AND ALL!
As long as the rich continue to get richer & the poor continue to get poorer, occupy cannot do anything other than continue to protest. Mr grover & the gop & the rushbo tell you because of time occupy should disappear. But occupy will last as long as there are no new taxes.
marshal,
I am so sorry you don't know how to become "rich". (However you define "rich")
Seems you and all your other sorry ass pricks think that when your neighbor gets a raise or becomes "rich", automatically you become poorer. Boy, you are a loser!!!
Well, no, there's plenty of other things they could be doing. For instance, oh, I don't know, they could use that time and look for a job, or look at acquiring the skills necessary to get a job if they don't have those skills.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they could be doing those things instead of "occupying."
Bernie, Jax,
Try getting some fax instead of spouting off your pimp sh!t arrogant opinions. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. Many of the protestors do have jobs, and yeah they are looking for work and have skills. Obviously more talented than yourselves. The only losers are you and those like you.
First of all, WUN, equating the OWS movement with the Civil Rights movement is ridiculous and downright arrogant. Where is OWS' Martin Luther King? You don't have one because it's not nearly on the same level as the Civil Rights movement. This just shows how disillusioned many in the OWS movement are.
I get it, people want jobs and want to be able to work. But do you seriously, for a minute, think that ransacking a Law & Order set because they "made fun of" the movement is going to all of sudden provide high paying jobs for all in OWS? Isn't that what this story is about? OWS didn't like being made fun of so they threw a tantrum and ransacked private property, all in the name of free speech and taking down the "greedy, rich bastards that run this country"? I must be really stupid (in that case, can I refund on my college loans I paid back?) to not see that logic in this.
Wake up...you're comparing OWS to Marthin Luther King and the people who fought in the Revolutionary War?
And you expect to be taken seriously?
Wake Up Now - Comparing OWS to the people mentioned in your reply is highly insulting. These people who made a difference fought for their achievments and worked hard. How can you compare that to sitting around on the street?? The real heroes in history are the ones who actually DID something monumental, not who sat around waiting to get their way.
Blue Collar,
Hey Putz!! I guess creating a muti-million dollar dollar business with just a thousand dollars to my name and no formal education is not being talented.
And yes, I am arrogant and rightly so, jealous prick!!
Get lost, one more loser!!!
Yeah, the only thing you probably created was a sweat shop over in India. People that have wealth don't need to make comments like that...it just shows how much of a worthless pos you are
CRI,
Nice try, gullible, ignorant, loser. Right here in Chicago with no help from anyone!!
I guess creating wealth for my employees, paying ALL their health care for them and allowing them days off whenever they needed it, is being a worthless pos.
Go ahead, try it, if you think it's so easy.
Or, maybe you can create a sweat shop in India if you think THAT'S so easy, also.
I "don't HAVE wealth".....I created it!!!!....For me and OTHERS!!!!
Yeah right. I can tell the way you talk, the only think you run is a hot dog stand in front of the bus stop. Go BS someone else and stfu. People like you make me sick, you're nothing. You run your mouth and spew hate and that is it. You contribute nothing and have no common sense.
Now crack open that Budweiser and ring me up you counter jockey. Lol What a joke.
CRI,
I'm laughing at you......I'm laughing some more, jealous, gullible, loser!
Well, again. Go ahead. Open a hot dog stand in front of a bus stand. It's really easy if you try. But, you haven't got the balls!
Go ahead, make fun of some one trying to make an honest buck, no matter what he does. Talk about spewing hate, jealous schmuck!
P.S. Can't stand beer!!
You know nothing about anybody on here and you assume only to prove your narrow mind. If you were that thoughful about people like paying their full bene's(yeah right on a hot dog cart income) you wouldn't be on here running your mouth.
I have actually owned a franchise and I know the related costs. I also know that even though I have had a good life, there are other people who haven't and it's not all sumed up with the word hippie you ignorant jerk.
Go spew your bs to someone that will believe it cause I'n not having it.
Yeah dumb azz, you're laughing at me and everyone on here cause they are jealous. Add clueless to your list of accomplishments too. I can tell just by listening to you that you're full of crap.
I doubt you have made an honest buck without someone else earning it for you cromagnon man. You have outed yourself with you generalizations and one sided view points. You're pathetic and lame and this thread is for you to feel better about your made up life.
You fool no one and you telling me about work is comical...you got it all figured out Guedo.
CRI,
Hey schmuck. Who said anything about a hot dog stand? You brought it up.
Yes, started a business with just a $1,000 to my name after leaving the service. And, yes grew it into sales well into seven figures. Worked 70 hours a week keeping it running so my employees could spend time with their families and be secure.
Any more comments or questions?
The American Dream worked for me. And, If an uneducated putz like me can do it...anyone can!
Well well. I'm impressed Guedo. After I left the Military after Desert Storm as a 67T20 or UH60A Black Hawk Crewchief, I worked my way up through retail Management.
For about a hundred grand, myself and my wife opened a service franchise that we operated for six years....from the ground up..I didn't buy an exisiting franchise. What I learned from that experience was invaluable to me and I was able to work my way up to VP of marketing & sales for a home improvement company. That has been my biggest accomplishment, I will admit. I will also say this, while I was enjoying a well earned 130/K a year salary, I never forgot where I came from. I never thought of people below me or less fortunate as garbage. There was a guy who was out on the corner on my way to my office in DTC every morning and I'd give him a dollar. He actually got pretty good at grabbing the money from me as sometimes I didn't catch the light so I would stick my hand out the door and he would grab it as I drove by.
The guy might have even used the money cause he was addicted to something. So what? At least the dollar helped him some how and who am I to judge how and why he got where he is. I know nothing about him except he's homeless. I NEVER make assumptions about people less fortunate than me NEVER!
It's this attitude people have that is fueling this movement. It's the lack of compassion for people that have the masses angry. I can see and feel it....why can't you?
This is going to turn into something that no one can control and will take it's natural course. There is nothing I or you can do about it. You can see it in peoples faces every day. The stress, the anger...I see it everyday on my drive into my office.
This is bigger than you or me Bernie.
CRI,
Never said it was bigger than you or me.
I volunteer at my local university (business school advisory board) helping young undergrad business students study ethics and entrepreneurship.
Volunteer at my place of worship helping the deaf and handicap.
I'm a vital part of my local municipality's government.
It upsets me that people think there is not a level playing field.
It upsets me that people think the government or someone else can and SHOULD make them happy.
I just get pissed at people that think hard work, wealth and success is a bad word.
When you're in Chicago, I'll take you for some great Chicago pizza and great Chicago hot dogs and fries.
Go bye for now, my friend!
I knew it. lol I'm originally from New York..I know a big city person when I'm talking to them.
I might take you up on that as Chicago is the ONLY place in my humble opinion, that makes a better pizza than NY.
I live in Colorado now so the great Italian food while very good in Denver,it isn't the same.
Seriously though Bernie. I hope our Government learns that the back door deals and fleecing of the public has came to a head. I have never seen people so angry in my life. I think we are going to witness something before our time is up, that will become part of the history they teach in school.
Continued success to you.
Art imitating life..life imitating art...art imitating art...I'm so confused, I think I need to smoke more weed.
"Bring your head shots..." Yeah, right. The ONLY people who get "IN" on film or TV are NEPS who are rich enough to start with or have parents who were "somebody in the biz" yesteryear. NEPOTISM is in place sort of like the ELECTORAL COLLEGE is for the presidential elections. "Elections," that is.
That's what NEPOTISM does for the PRIVIS. It's an EXCLUSIVE CLUB. UND: You and I are not IN IT. Yawoll! Und Sig Heil. And Sonya Kraus in a pear tree...without any panties on. Of course.
Is there no one in the entire world who actually earned their own way? The only people who have ever made it in this country only did so the coattails of someone else? For someone who calls himself a mean old fart your acting more like 3 year old.
Depends on what you mean by "own way" doesn't it. Most of the people in OWS are people who were earning their "own way" but can no longer do so, but are still trying. Don't like that fact? Sorry, that's just the way it is. You don't like it too bad. A year or two from now you will wish you had joined them.
AT least I can get them to THINK, in a small way, of course. Very limited, but we'll work on it. These things take time, you know. But getting them to a "THINK" level beyond their USUAL "Dancing With The Stars" on TV mentality does indeed reveal how much BRAIN WASH they'd been sitting still for on the BOOB TOOB. These two are a prime example of AUTOMATONS who just regurgitate the puke MR TV announcer and Mr. News Reporter say on the NETWORKS. And if it's on a whole big network owned by big rich people, it has to be TRUE. Our big RICH PEOPLE don't ever LIE. Especially if they're WHITE AND ANGLO and have blond hair and blue eyes. They're our HEROES. Dick Cheney said so!
