An abuser finds it very easy to control everyone. That "I'm really a good guy" bit-he's perfected that over years and years. She may well be his biggest supporter because he is talking her into it.

Just because she is his supporter in the face of the public doesn't mean he's never been rough with her. In fact, that is the fastest and easiest way to make someone support you. The "taking care of" you supporter/defender is often done with the back of a hand.

Sadly I thought the same thing about Casey Anthony - and look what happened there. The issue has now become "the jury". Whether they will do the job the are empaneled to do - that is review the evidence.

I have no doubt in my mind this man is guilty he should be dispensed with rather quickly. I sense a plea bargain will be made - no way this goes to trial. The authorities need to move on to bigger things like the university and Paterno and what they knew. The cover up isn't worse than the actual crime but it comes pretty darn close.

I keep wondering whether this is all a highly-convoluted but very clever strategy designed to give him grounds for appeal later: "Ineffective assistance of counsel." Amendola's performance has been a textbook example of what not to do.

There does seem to be one word missing from every story and every post -- "Alleged" Even an alleged scumbag like Sandusky gets a fair shake in America.

You can refer to him as a coward or any of a number of derogatory adjectives, call his defense attorney an idiot for allowing him to give interviews regarding the charges against him, but by waiving his pretrial, the defense acquires ALL the evidence the prosecution has against the defendant without having it disclosed in front of the public courtroom, judge, jury, and most importantly in a case like this, the ever-present media at this time. This is a very smart move for the defense and has saved many alleged defendants. This is a tactic used by the defense in most all felony cases, especially high-profile cases like this one. It assists the defense by providing them all the evidence the prosecution has and all statements given by prosecution witnesses who will give testimony when questioned on the stand without any of it having to come out in a courtroom at this time. This enables the defense team to plan a strategy as to how they want to defend their client if the case goes to trial, or if a plea bargain is offered, whether it is the more sensible move to accept it rather than go to trial. I am not making a statemnet for his guilt or innocence, I am just stating fact on how our judicial system works. If I could give one piece of advice to Jerry Sandusky it would be to say nothing more....NOTHING MORE AT ALL to ANYONE about the case against you if you ever plan on having the result/judgement ever be in your favor. Personally, right now Jerry Sandusky knows whether he has committed the crimes he is being accused of and if you did sir, may the Good Lord see fit to make certain you can never comit these crimes again.

I would agree with you on this one, except for the mountain of evidence and sheer number of those who are stepping forward...admittedly, even for 'money and fame' this is something that's extremely difficult to do.

Sandusky deserves a fair trial, indeed...but recent developments would seem to suggest that he might opt for a plea bargain while admitting no guilt...?

Sandusky has already admitted to the facts freely: He loves taking baths with young boys and "horse around" with them. If you think that's acceptable behavior and that his "horsing around" with naked young boys was totally "innocent", you're sick.

Oh stop with the innocent till proven guilty. The facts are we have 11 people who are willing to come forward. 11! That's alot of people and there's a very good chance there are more that are not willing to come forward. So save it for another time!

he was assistant director at one of the greatest college programs ever. He took advantage of that fact and sexually abused 50+ young men. Even if it was one, it would be tragic..but the number of young men he affected is mind blowing..

SarahTonin: You are exactly right. While it's understandable to feel sorrow and anger at the abuse of children, bypassing the process of justice isn't the way to get justice. I enjoy a good media lynching as much as the next guy. But if you are so moved by your "gut feeling" that you're ready to skip the trial and move right to the punishment phase, then you have no respect for the constitution and no concept of justice in a democratic society.

I would like to know how everyone can believe that 50!! kids (who are no longer kids for years) never said a word until now. My kids would have told me the second after it happened. It is NOT normal that among 50 kids there wasn't even one with a healthy relationship with the parents. Something is not right here.

It is because the addition of each new heinous charge, from victims who did not know each other, make a contrived conspiracy nearly impossible. Rather than addressing Jerry's creepy answers to Costas and NYT, Dottie's first statement said "Noone was FORCED to stay in the basement." NOT the same as saying noone stayed in the basement. Why do you think folks are concerned he was alone with the kids so far from prying eyes and ears, Dottie? And it was lame to attack one word of a victim's statement of a victim rather than simply trying to bolster/correct her husband's interviews like a good wife. Must be tough to have your hero become less than zero.

Bisam-Even though these boys knew it was not right, in one way or another, Sandusky effectively did what most abusers/predators do. He convinced them that they wanted it. They may not have wanted his whipstick up their butts, but they wanted other things he offered-money, gadgets, good words, sleepovers, fun times. From what I have read, a majority of the boys targeted were from single parent homes. These boys were probably trying to replace that which was missing(a parent) with Sandusky, and he convinced them that the sex came with that as a "package deal"(no pun intended).

Predators such as Sandusky know how to target the right people. Look at his wife. Quiet, reserved, docile. If I am remembering right from the pictures I've seen, she is not overly pretty either-not ugly per se, but not anything special. She attacks the victims' statements because she cannot conciously lie to the general public and say "This never happened." She is doing what she is told(hush little baby) without directly making false statements.

In ten years they'll be divorced and she'll write a book about locking all Sandusky's lies in the "basement" for him.

I was thinking the same thing. They were talking about how they were going to fight these charges. How cowardly to wait until the last minute!!!

They know they will be going to trial anyway. Their mindset is why have all this testimony laid out there before the public when its only a formality. They will use the time before the trial to further put out the propaganda they have already started. Its actually not a bad move although just delaying the inevitable. They are both obviously guilty unfort the wife will not be prosecuted just not enough proof and only heirsey. Between now and the trial they will be negotiating with prosecuters in attempt to not let this ever go to trial. And if thats the case (successful in negotiating a plea deal,which is highly unlikely by the way, prosecuters have a great case) having this info get out beforehand is not adventagous for the defences client.

The reality is that no defendant would face trial unless somebody—the crime victim, the prosecutor, a police officer—believed that the defendant was guilty of a crime.

That is no treatment-I say we stone him to death. That way he suffers a good long time, and our world would be rid of him, and we are guaranteed he wouldn't be able to do it again.

Instutionalization is too good for him. Why should the taxpayers foot the bill for him just to get free cable and dessert? Sociopaths are not "curable", so why should the taxes we all pay go to give him amenities that most families can't even afford?
