From the passing of Apple's Steve Jobs and the rise (and eventual fall) of Herman Cain to the death of Osama Bin Laden and Charlie Sheen's winning personality, Willie Geist brings us all of the big news of 2011.
Don't count your Chickens until their Hatched. Most people are blinded by the truth. Most people are one sided.
i can imagine if Bush was still President and what the Liberal News Media would be saying.
I know the Liberals blame the Economy on Bush , BUT we had a DEMOCRATIC Congress and Senate, we had barney Franks and Chris Dodd saying there is nothing wrong with Fannie and Freddie, Frank Raines stealing 50 million Dollars from Both and calling it an Incentive, But yet We didn't hear one word from Nancy or Harry. It goes like this, DON"T FINGER ME AND I WON"T FINGER YOU. SHHHHHHHHHHH
Don't Blame OBLAMEA because he is out Blaming everyone but Himself.
Those numbers don't lie 75 % of Americans are fed-up we need a change of direction and Obama is not planning to do it. His steering wheel is taking us to the cliff. Three years and nothing change the only difference is that we are getting use to live in this condition, this is unacceptable. We don't need 4 more years of the same to let Obama prove he is right. Doing the same thing another four years and expect different results is insane ,we got enough.
Bush raised spending 88%, and Obama just 7.2%. Obama has deficits coming down, while Bush increased them. Lastly, the last chart shows that the stimulus worked.
Republicans want to cut spending which will stall the economy. They have done everything possible to prevent job growth.
Republicans have said they have "jobs bills" that are waiting in the Senate. These bills are give aways to big oil (more drilling in the gulf), and the deregulation of clean water and air, which they say will create jobs.
Remember, Republicans also said that tax cuts would create jobs....and they didn't.
I personally had a great year. I graduated school, got a job and have a healthy family, a wonderful girlfriend and a great group of close friends.
For the country as a whole, this has been a terrible year driven by an incompetent president and an even worse Congress. I hope that we vote out all incumbents in 2012 regardless of party. I know that I will be voting for Ron Paul this year.
I'm not part of the 1% but I had a great year, even though financially it was so-so. Things are looking up. My kid got married, I am real close to my PhD, I paid my academic fees, and so much more. I am blessed and grateful.
I also appreciate the cries for liberty from North Africa to Wall Street and how nonviolent they have been.
Am I the olny one thinking that the continuing revolutions from this year will transfer into next? Occupy Wall Street will grow even bigger, Syria wil overthrow Assad, and things could get ugly in Russia. But Obama failed miserably with the debt crisis, the media fell for Trump's bluff, and Michele Bachmann thought she could become president. For the world as a whole, 2011 was amazing. For the US, it was a steaning pile of (censor).
So let's here it for the Job Creators who gave us no jobs, the Congress that did nothing, and the military who brought down bin Laden and ended the most pointless decision of the last decade. Oh, and Harold Camping can take it like the false zealot he is.
First of all why does EVERY post have to be political???
This has been a sucky year all around. Loss of job, cars, bankruptcy...I'll be glad when it is over and done.
For those of you who "believe" the crap that unemployment is going down, you are blind. Husband being on unemployment, spoke to an unemployment rep and she was straight honest. It isn't going down because the economy is looking better. Everyone has exhausted all their benefits and are falling off the count. It is also seasonal work time. Once the holidays are over a lot of those are back to being without jobs. So if you think it is "getting better" think again.
I have been in the self storage business for almost 12 years. 2011 has been the worst year to date, and this month, December, has been the worst month. I worked as a regional manager and saw numbers and reports across the US, and this 2011 has sucked. I am glad to see the end of year.
Hoping for Obummer to be out, Look at the other candiates: Bachmann is a liar, Gingrich we had enough of him during the Clinton Administration, Perry is telling women that no abortions at all if he gets in, And Romney......He may get back in..... I hope not tho!
Eric, you do realize that every penny of bailout and stimulus then is included in that number. Only growth in the private sector should be included in the administration's touting of GDP as far as I am concerned.
Amazes me that some think.. that printing money, and throwing it to keep public servants on the payroll another couple or 3 years, is called "creating jobs". PFFTTTTT.
Other than a very small handful of areas in our country, I think way too many people looking at things thru rose colored glasses !!
Personally, I wish we could replace EVERY SINGLE politician up on the hill, BOTH SIDES !! And then the 1st thing I'd do, is abolish PACs !
2011 has been a great year for my family and I. It's unfortunate that everyone else can't say the same thing, but if 2012 even comes close to 2011, I will be a very happy camper :)
I thought the question was not political. Concerning politics: There is a difference between politicians who want the poor and middle class to fail, and politicians that wish they would do better and try to offer services so that it might be possible. Don't forget, America had to face a lot of very expensive natural disasters in 2011. Then there are the slow quiet disasters that pick off individuals: let them eat foods with lots of additives, and just see how many people we can give colon cancer to. Well, my husband is continuing his battle, and even though the cancer seems at a stalemate, his liver now has problems. We are walking into 2012 very scared, and it is not because of some crazy popular mythology about 2012. (Please folks, send the world positive thoughts; please do not giggle with glee about more disasters than we have been getting from global warming.) If I would request anything, I would say to pray for peace, for sober minds and hearts, for smaller families where the population explosion is causing wars, and for each other. A kingdom divided against itself shall not stand: America is so divided right now that the parties are withholding jobs just to prove that the other guy caused it. America, grow up!
I personally voted "Good" I would have voted "Awsome" except I know many that had a horrible through no fault of their own. Other than the difficulties others are having it was an Awsome year for me and my extended family.
I hope America does not decide to endure 4 more years of this "hope and change" thing. This year was terrible-higher gas prices, higher food prices, bigger debt, higher poverty, 9% unemployment, etc... This country is a mess and our president must own some of this mess he has helped create and stop blaming it on the other guy; otherwise the gridlock will continue. BO's policies are driving us to the brink of collapse. Congress, just as clueless. It is the truly stupid leading the blind anymore.
Couple things about Obama's policies....they are moderate, historically bi-partisan, and have created 22 months of job growth. Heck, if he is a one termer he will have created more jobs in his presidency that Bush did in 8 years.
BO's policies are driving us to the brink of collapse.
Please list the policies that are bringing us to a brink...be specific.
The all-time high for U.S. gas prices was $4.11 on July 11, 2008 under you guessed it the intellectually challenged George W. Bush and his hunch Cheney
Roy - What news are YOU watching?? The unemployment rate, while still high by historical standards, has been steadily dropping over the past 18 months...
And we're getting perilously near that high again; and this time our country has lost it's high ranking financially. As for Bush being intellectually challanged; that's a media creation. He's at least as intelligent as you and probably much more so.
Surprised you don't understand that simple distinction between job growth and unemployment.
So out population increases and unemployment is a percentage of that population who aren't working. In order for the rate to go down businesses need to create say 300,000 jobs a month. So in a month where only 100,000 jobs are created the unemployment rate may go up. That doesn't mean businesses aren't creating jobs, just not creating enough. Suppose we could just start losing 700,000 jobs a month like the republicans did when they had the presidency...i mean if you like lobbyists or vulture capitalists like Newt or Mitt.
He's at least as intelligent as you
No, no he is not...sorry but it looks like fall in his boat of "pretending" Bush was competent.
Seems the rate of pay and job quality have been falling.. More low paying jobs is not a sign of economic recovery.. The rich are still getting richer and the poor are still getting poorer.. My wife is struggling to earn money at temp jobs as I went disabled from a crushed spine.. Reserve money is gone , 401k is gone and crickets are chirping at the Industrial commission and Social Security.. Can't get any help from anyone until we loose our house and possessions in the first quarter of 2012.. Temperature in our house this winter is around 60 deg. because we can't afford to spend money on luxuries like heat.. Boy I hope the government gives millions more tax dollars to crooked rich corporations and bankers so they can get those bonuses and golden parachutes..
The unemployment rate has dropped; due to more and more people giving up the idea of ever finding employment, or by more people accepting part time and poverty level employment.
This is a dumb poll. Every Obama hater would say their year was awful even if they did well and any Democrat that expected more would be disappointed.
Just remember that Obama did not create this mess the country is in and with Republican filibusters he cannot get bills passed to help companies create more good paying jobs.
One other thing, if McCain had gotten elected with his political views the Iraq war would not have been over and we would have already attacked Iran with this country in a depression.
Unemployment is going down only because so many are losing their benefits and are now not counted, not because they got jobs. Many that do get jobs are taking jobs that under-employ them, meaning they don't get paid what the job is worth and this doesn't help the economy. People need to spend to help the economy and when they are going further in debt, they won't spend what it takes. There are low quality jobs out there that don't pay enough for many people because they won't make enough to live. Basically pay that keeps them in poverty.
I am truly aghast at the Obama lovers and their continued defense of his administration. He has his czars, his thousands of new regulations, his special interests (unions, greenies), his insidious way of operating, and his being enthralled at being the first half-black president. He says he's bi-partisan, what a lie that is, doesn't he remember his first two years in office and how Obamacare was forced down our throats. My mother (86), my mother-in-law (93) both were in the hospital recently for care, when Obamacare is in full force I or my husband (when we're 70 or older) are going to be sent home and told to take aspirin. If the Obama lovers can not see that our freedoms are being erroded, that our American way of life is being jeopardized, it is going to be unbearable for our country if BO gets re-elected. He's a pompous you know what, get your blinders off for pete sakes before it's too late!
Seems the rate of pay and job quality have been falling.. More low paying jobs is not a sign of economic recovery..
No its a sign that corporations have successfully used this recession to drive down the cost of labor. While we have sat here arguing about who is worse and who is to blame in government, the real problems (corporations) has taken over. Welcome to the new American economy, service get used to it or change the laws to favor We the People nor the corporations.

Blame Bush for Democrats and Obama's policies is insane , after 2 years of fully dominated Congress you can say Obama did not have his opportunity, not even Obama's campaign can run more adds blaming Bush. Debby Wassermann the head of DNC said , this is our economy. Like it or not.
Certainly the Democrats had control of the house for two years and were able to pass bills but the senate use their filibuster power to stop those bills that would create jobs and restructure the tax codes. Just one example of many.
The DNC may have said it's their economy but they did not say they were responsible for the sorry shape it's in. The Obama administration was not responsible for the lost of millions of jobs that started in 2008. Once it starts it cannot be stopped in a week.
I agree that more could have been done but it required bipartisanship in congress and that wasn't going to happen with McConnell, the minority leader in the senate, dead set on making Obama a one term president. You can blame Obama all you want but you also have to place the blame on partisan politics that refuse to allow anything to pass congress that would make Obama look good and the agenda to protect the wealthy from taxes.
Larry, now go back and look at how many times the Democrats filibustered from 2000 till 2006.
The Republican controlled house has sent, with Democrat support, 15 jobs bills to the Senate. Harry Reid, a Democrat has tabled every one of them. Refused to vote on any spending reduction bill. Was mad when neither Republicans or Democrats would back his bill to allow Vegas casinos to have online gambling ( casinos who contributed millions to his re-election ). Every jobs bill the dDemocrats and Obama have proposed would only help one group - the unions. how many unemployed teachers do you know that are heavy equipment operators? How many store clerks are bricklayers, cement finishers, carpenters. iron workers? None. Only unions would get the "infrastructure jobs". And it would be three to five years before the first job would begin. Planning, environmental impact, safety, design, etc. takes years from proposal to start. Highway work being done today was planed three years ago.
If you are going to quote facts, quote all the facts. Half truths are still lies.
Go feed your plastic concept of how things work to someone who is stupid. Notice that corporate salarise are still rising. Notice that the although the take home pay is down, the wage rates are at least the same if not higher. Salaries and take home pay are down because positions have been eliminated and overtime cut out - all to compete with people who earn starvation wages in other countries.
Yes, corporate profits are higher, but that is what happens when you don't reinvest the part of your income intended for expansion - because expanding is unwise given the economic AND political environment. if your jobs are leaving your state or the country, it's because companies have to compete, and if the cost of staying means the company will go out of business, they are going to choose to go elsewhere.
We the corporations - "700,000 jobs a month like the republicans did when they had the presidency"
You may want to look at that 700K figure again and see when it started. Democrat controlled Congress, and an incoming Democrat president.
And Eric -Eric, You do realize that Government spending is IN those GDP numbers right? You may want to call back the parade and forget that victory lap for now.
Yes, it is about making a profit, however they are also showing their true convictions. Businesses that sell out their country to make things on the cheap in China or other countries have no conviction nor integrity. They do not have the balls to take a risk and invest in America when she needs them to the most but they will be the first in line with their grubby little hands held out in front of them for American dollars when the economy does pick up again.
Businesses like this serve no one but themselves, like I said that have no loyalty nor integrity. It is different in certain industries. Manufacturing is all but gone from our country. In this case they have to use products made from China and else where.
The companies I am targeting are the ones that can easily make their products here in the USA but refuse to because they have to spend what they view as an unacceptable amount of their profits to do so, even though they would still make money.
Make no mistake, it is not about political or economical climate; it is about making a profit, most shareholders, boards, and ceo's see nothing else. Like the pharams that send crap drugs over to Africa when they can supply more of the better drugs that we have used here to eradicate or control a lot of the crap running around over there (TB, malaria, even aids). They do not send the better meds because of their cost even though it is the moral and ethical thing to do.
Money will always override our instincts to do good, that is why I will never trust a company to do the right thing unless they have a track record of being the outsiders (ex. Google).
Do not confuse this as a post by one of those "buy American only" crap posts. I am not so deluded to think that is possible in this day and age. Too much stuff is made elsewhere, you cannot possibly buy only American anymore. However even so there are many companies that could do business here in America but they cling to their almighty God, the Dollar, way too much to spend a little extra money to get greater returns; they want a sure fire bet that will pay off in a industry where there is never any certainty.
The only way we will ever get out of this economy is not just via help from the Government, is that what the right keeps on saying? Stop relying on the Government to do your jobs for you? So why are businesses relying on the Government for hand outs? Why do we have to subsidize any industry that is currently flourishing (yes I am talking about oil)?
Anyway back to the original point of the first sentence in the above paragraph. Business must spend money to hire more employees to drive up demand by flooding the economy with dollars. Sure in the short term business are going to be hemorrhaging money, and some might fail, but in the long run it is going to help us get back on our feet. Our military has made extreme sacrifices over the past decade. Why can't businesses make those same sacrifices to help out the country when she asks them to?
A simple answer, they have no integrity, no loyalty. They follow the dollar no matter where it is, they do not care if by their actions they are leaving the Us a dried up husk. Now that the wars are not sucking away our life blood it is up to business to give us the transfusions; the Fed has already printed too much money, more then they should have (for the record any money printed is too much). It is time for businesses in America to show that they care about their customer base here enough to risk their profits, that they care more about the people they employ and sell their stuff to then they do about a piece of worthless green paper or a number on a screen.
There has been 21 months of PRIVATE sector job growth. The continued unemployment numbers are caused by the loss of public sector jobs happening at the same time. Jobs like police, firemen, teachers, air traffic controllers, city and state employees and on and on. This is what happens when tax revenue goes down and the "government" gets smaller. As more and more people loose their jobs tax revenues continue to drop, so more jobs are lost.
Yes, and until we start taxing the rich Corporations, more public sector jobs will be lost. Anyone wondering how the Roman Empire fell? Watch us reduce taxes for the Barons, I mean rich corporations, and see us slip into the dark ages.
funny comment...too bad there's no way to tell, eh? We can only make sure we don't make the same mistake that was made in 2008. Barry is one and done...
He will go down in history as the worst President for the middle class!!!!!!!!!!!
Jim, he still has to beat out Reagan and Bush Jr. Which will be pretty hard since he isn't demonizing middle class workers and slobbing all over "job creators" the way those two did. He isn't demanding tax cuts for his richest friends so they can hoard billions off shore and dismantle the middle class.
Calling Obama the worst president for the middle class is like calling the ER doctor who couldn't save someone from being shot (by two thugs) the worst doctor ever.
What did OBLAMEA do besides NOTHING.
I love the made up names teabaggers give Obama, reminds me of their maturity level. He negotiated an international missile defense treaty...Palin didn't even know where South Africa was...
They may have been called "teabaggers" since 09 by the frantic liberals trying to degrade their cause but I find no article where the Teaparty called themselves "teabaggers". I believe obumbo has used this derogatory term many times but we sure can't call him a n****r which would be derogatory as well.
I believe obumbo has used this derogatory term many times but we sure can't call him a n****r which would be derogatory as well.
Wow so your true colors come out, this is why people play the race card on teabaggers...cause it's true. Doing something (teabagging) and being something (black) are completely different things. Its very telling of your true feeling when you create a false equivalency.

Christmas was the downer for me. And I'm sure it wasn't Obama's fault. Or even Bush's for that matter. Upon examining my presents, looking at the makers of my few presents I became very sad. Few US citizens had a hand in them except sales and deliveries. China's name was all over everything. When did this happen? And whose fault is it? Answer this question, solve the problem.
Viktor Spinotti: You apparently know nothing about the reason for Palin stepping down as Governor either.
As Governor of AK, she did a great job. High approval. She swept the corruption out of both parties during her tenure and gave the PEOPLE of AK their due for the resources of their State. Permanent Fund Dividend.
Much as I hate this worn out phrase...You need to stop drinking the Kool Aide.
Aggie - Really, and you have keen insight and inside information, right? Do *you* think she stepped down so as to run for VP? Since the election, for most peoples' purposes, was over in Nov 2008, why did she step down in July 2009? Time-warp?
I made no comment on her tenure as Governor; only on the fact that she is a Quitter. Thank goodness she did not become Veep.
BTW, single-malt Scotch is more my style, thank you very much.
Aggie, it's so sweet that you actually believe that. She quit to make more money on Faux News. Duh. Money makes the world go around. the more you have, the less you share and the more you want more.
Viktor Spinotti: Did I SAY she stepped down to run for VP? I did NOT. I simply said you obviously don't know the REASON why she DID step down. IF you DO know, why would you have ommitted saying so?. Because it would show that she had a valid reason? Just in case you don't know the FACTS. Some loony liberal psycho was filing lawsuit after lawsuit, which the courts are required to hear and adjudicate, and since she was Governor, the State of AK would have to foot the bill, so Palin stepped down and used her own money and that of willing supporters to pay for all the expenses of hearing every suit the loon filed. All of which, BTW, were eventually tossed and/or found baseless. Palin saved the State and the people of AK millions by taking on the costs herself. Obama costs us more just for this latest vacation!! She served the PEOPLE. The PEOPLE serve Obama.
AleChild----- I don't blame the consumers. I believe your blaming the wrong group. When that's all you can afford you buy cheap. When in the last 20 years did the majority of middle class get a pay raise that keeps up with inflation? I know I didn't. Anyone else can say they did, other than a union job? And I'm not pro union.
I watched her press conference when she quit and based on the rambling nonsense dribble that came from her mouth, she didn't know why she was quitting either. Get the transcripts and read it for yourself. Although I must admit, it's very difficult to read without punctuation. Much like listening to her talk.
oskar: Since Palin resigned on July 3 2009, I guess she hadn't got the memo that the race was over?
Try doing at least *some* fact checking, so as not to look like quite so much a fool, 'k?
Viktor
Did Obama do? He never stop campaigning not for one minute since he was a candidate in 2008. As a president he is still campaigning from the first day in the White House, he forgot he is the president for all Americans he is the president for the liberals, unions and environmental wackos. Not for the majority of Americans that say Obama is taking us to the wrong direction.
Why do you bring Palin up anyway? She's not even in the race. Is it because you can't defend Obama, so you go looking for anything, even yesterday's news, as a diversion? Whatever...but I READ the details of the situation and her reason for stepping down which I just passed along. Take it or leave it, I don't care. You'll bash and trash and ignore facts. It the liberals M.O.
I so agree, JM298. Mr. Obama has failed on most fronts and has mostly failed the middle-class. Of course, many of us are teetering on the edge of "poor-class" now, including myself.
PM NYC, Congress passes Bills and Harry Reid sits on them. You have to know how our Government works. It goes Congress, to the Senate, and than to the President either to Pass or veto.
You fall into the LIBERAL TRAP,Blame OBLAMEA, Where has he bin besides out Campaigning, Golfing and vacationing, and Blaming everyone but HIMSELF.
This is all the result of our elected officials from both sides of the isle being in the pocket of corporations that are selling us out for another big bonus or payday..They love it when we bicker about party line as it distracts us from their insider tips and penny stock buys arranged by big money and big business.. Shoving forced health insurance down our throats, bet the votes in favor of that have medical and insurance stocks.. So cheer for you idiot..
THANK YOU, Roadrunnero. I'm amazed at the number of political 'cheerleaders' here. THEIR party is full of 'good guys' and the other party is full of 'baaaad guys'....jeez, open your eyes, people! We've got nothing but crooks running our country! Parties are irrelevent! THEY ALL SHOULD BE THROWN OUT!
Unemployment is ridiculously high -- and for those who say it's been going down, get a clue. The good sized number of people looking for work have lost their unemployment benefits and have stopped looking. They aren't counted in that 'official government figure'; they've dropped off that chart. Prices continue to go up, and yet we the American people bicker among ourselves instead of banding together and holding our officials accountable. Congress and the Whitehouse are loving this, I'm sure.

Thanks Eric for the data...may send the links to my Dad (he listens too much to conservative media so critical thinking becomes more difficult without info from the other side).
OK, Eric. Maybe you could find the same information on some more reputable sites than "bullandbearwise.com" and "ourfuture.org?" I'd really like for you to explain how Bush raised spending 88% and Obama only raised spending 7.2% when Obama has added as much to our national debt in just THREE years as Bush did in his entire EIGHT years. Care to explain that, please?
You have to know how our Government works. It goes Congress, to the Senate, and than to the President either to Pass or veto
@Buckieboy, I couldn't agree with you more..but here is a tid bit...the senate is part of congress..Congress is comprised of the Senate AND the House of Representatives...
You've been drinking too much TEA. It's already poisoned your mind into believing things that aren't true. Like Palin resigning to run for vice president and Obama dividing the country. The thing dividing the country is the Republicans trying to protect the wealthy while the economy goes south. The 2001-2002 tax cuts have nearly destroyed the country yet the Republicans insist on protecting them.
Check the unemployment rate after the Bush tax cuts. Unemployment took a sharp rise just after they were signed into law. That's a fact.
I'm not part of the 1% but I had a great year, even though financially it was so-so. Things are looking up. My kid got married, I am real close to my PhD, I paid my academic fees, and so much more. I am blessed and grateful.
I also appreciate the cries for liberty from North Africa to Wall Street and how nonviolent they have been.
msdnc. I can explain that for you. the following items were put into play without having any way to pay for them, left for other generations to deal with. When a country does 'Big' things without paying for them, that country goes deep into debt. These are the items:
1. Iraq war was not paid for, we are paying for it now and for quite a long time into the future. Not counting the 4000 men/women who died for a vendetta.
2. Afghanistan was not paid for, we are trying to repair the damage that was done by vacating the region too early, running over to Iraq. Still paying on that too.
3. Medicare Part D was not paid for, merely enacted. Still paying for that.
4. Tax Cuts for the upper 2% of the populace, not paid for; put on the back of the middle class.
5. The middle class wage has not risen over the last few decades. The upper class wage has ballooned. the middle class wages have not gone up, but the cost of living has risen. The middle class can not keep up. Creating a huge income gap.
This is just a brief list. If you could manage to look up some information to support your opinions, it would help you understand what is going on right now.
I'd really like for you to explain how Bush raised spending 88% and Obama only raised spending 7.2% when Obama has added as much to our national debt in just THREE years as Bush did in his entire EIGHT years. Care to explain that, please?
It is because the Bush administration did not include the cost of the wars when explaining the national debt. Pres Obama has shown those costs which then makes it appear that he has raised the national debt so much. I thought this was common knowledge but then again it's something the other side doesn't want to acknowledge or discuss. Also all this talk about raising the debt ceiling has nothing to do with spending now it has to do with past spending and paying off those bills kind of like when you use a charge card.
Look up Overseas Contingency Bills. That's how the Wars were paid for. BTW. The Democrats could have STOPPED the FUNDING ANYTIME they wished starting in 2007. I wonder why they didn't. Then there is the Filibuster in the Senate. I wonder why they didn't do that from DAY ONE.
This year was one of the worst ever for me- financially, emotionally, all ways. Found my best friend dead of a heart attack, family member in serious legal difficulties, daughter's retired show horse dead at 34 (bought when daughter was 6), car quit and won't ever run again, and in Nov. daughter's house burned to the ground- not even a wall left standing. She and her 2 dogs (one a Great Dane) are now with me. Sure as H__— hope 2012 is a better year!
The worst part is that the future of the United States and thus our future is looking worse as well.. Corporate greed has done its deed to the blue collar worker.. Been a rough road for you and seems like my entire life for me.. Hope is all we got left and that may get taxed by the IRS..
Can't remember a time the US felt this awful to live in. Class warfare is driving it apart, tired of hearing about select people being evil for making money, too many freeloaders, bloated government at all levels, union theft using pensions (Illinois where I pay 5% of my earnings to support it), military worship, bad leadership on Penn ave, etc.
there you go again, royalstar. Making statements that cannot be proven. I suspect you'll see one of those "mindless idiots" as you call them, gracing the halls of the white house in a little over one year now. This country has had enough of Obama and his band of merry socialists...
Huh?? Let's see, the Middle East has become more unstable with his support of Egypt and Libya's revolutions, the economy is getting worse and his use of agencies such as the EPA is killing the economy even more and raising utilities costs to name just a few. We need to GET RID OF THIS GUY!
Your savior McCain lost to a black guy. Get over it, christ its been 3 years. If you think ANY of the turds that are running against Obama will beat him, you are a moron.
Well Obama doesn't make all those decisions. Congress is responsble for a lot of that, and the GOP vowed to make him a 1 term persident. So really how can we know who's actual fault it is. I think people just want someone to blame, especially if it's someone from the other side of the fence. We have a lot of corruption in politics, at all levels, and I don't think it's solely Obama's fault. Anyone that says it is solely his fault is clearly not very educated on our political system.
good one...can't present facts to back your misguided statements, so we're all morons. It's ok, we'll see who takes the cake in November. I hope you libs can handle the outcome.
"lost to a black guy" ?? A little racist comment there, royalstar?
the race card royalstar? really? that all ya got? why not conveniently forget that he had the dem.controlled seneate and house for his first two years and still managed to accomplish absolutely nothing good and stick to the ol blame bush strategy while your at it.
Race card? What the hell are you talking about Tramp. Learn how to read. My god, stay off here if you dont know what your doing. You guys are pissed that your guy Mccain lost to a black guy. Your problem not mine.
Still waiting for your explanation on how Obama only raised spending by 7.2% compared to Bush's alleged 88% spending increase and yet added the same amount to our national debt in three years that Bush added in eight years. All I hear are crickets so far.
Every day I wake up and wonder what was uttered in the last hours that will start me hyper-ventilating by the opposing side. This is no way for Americans to live and is on par to being bombed in a literal sense. Shell shocked I try to weed through the lies told by both sides only to find a corrupt government that apparently as mere voters we have no recourse to change. I don't see it getting any better but know it can get even worse!
And then I come in here and see all the posers getting paid .81 cents to defend the party trying to do away with the middle class. They should be ashamed of theirselves.
Not going to change until we rid ourselves of Obama...
Thats like saying once you rolled in poison ivy and put on a shirt, the rash won't get better till you take off the shirt...likes its the shirts fault you itch...hilarious that teabaggers are so clueless.
The democrats criticize the Repubs for not wanting to pass his bills. His administration hasn't passed a budget. In a country our size we need a budget to ensure that we can support the needs of the country first and if there is $'s left over then we can cover the wants. Spending without a budget is economical suicide. I truly believe that it took years for the Muslims to be able to position someone in the White House that would help take our country apart from the inside.
Sorry dude, but I think that may be the most ridiculous post today (and that says a lot). A Muslim sleeper? What about the Bush's who are in bed with Saudi Arabia? They are more obvious sleeper agents. Bush's war with Iraq created a new Iran. Who's the sleeper? Obama who has been trying to get us OUT of the ME or Bush, the one who put us there. I don't think we have a sleeper president, and I dont think Bush was on either (he was just a moron). Obama isn't perfect, but he isn't this hideous monster that so many seem to believe he is. And it would have been MUCH worse with McCain in office. The war in the ME would have been much worse and we would still be there now, and for the next 50 years. It'd make Vietnam look like a cake walk.
Bush made sure the relatives of the 9/11 conspirators got on planes and left the country even when Americans were not allowed to fly. You say Obama is a Muslim sleeper? You republicans are blind followers using scare tactics to get what you want. Obama is not a Muslim, and you saying he is doesn't make it true. What an idiot you are!
I simply love the trolls on here blaming Obama for all their problems, did any of you even remember dear old George and Cheney and the thugs who put us in this mess, nope, just blame it on Obama, I mean it's easier then facing the truth. The truth is the GOP in this country with their trickle down economics have ruined America, and two guys who decided to sacrifice many of our finest citizens in a WAR for Oil in Iraq, which also ran up the tab in the trillions and let the banks have a free for all have nearly destroyed the country. Now we have a congress ran by GOPERS and TEABAGGERS who will do anything and everything to stop Obama from pulling us out of the pit. He's managed to keep us from going off a cliff even with the GOP dragging him down every step of the way. You better wake up people, not saying he's the best, but really look at the alternative!!!
Hate to break it to you, but we're already over the cliff. Barry helped push us over...
Why didn't the dems pass a budget for the first two years of Obama's term? Please, tell us.
Why won't the dems in the senate vote on a budget/resolution that's good for a whole year, not two lousy months? Please, tell us.
Why is Obama playing class warfare? Please, tell us.
Obama is not a leader...only for 1/2 of the nation...you know, the rest of us are his "enemies". His words, not mine. Obama is the worst POTUS we have ever had...anyone, but anyone will be better.
And just exactly how has obama kept us from falling off the cliff? Hasn't unemployment more than doubled since he took office? Hasn't the debt almost doubled within 3 years of taking office vs. the 8 years of Bush? What about energy - moratorium on drilling because the environmentalists are afraid of global warming - but they continue to use electricity and oil to lights their homes and run their cars.
You can't name one function obama has done/completed, etc. to better this country - see above for clarity.
cantakenomore, you and your ilk have just proved yourselves the outright idiots that you are. Racist, dimwit, rednecks if you believe that drivel. I feel sorry for you. I am through with you also. Have fun with your pathetic little life. Goodbye.
royalstar....................take another hit off your bong and get off your Mom's computer. Let the adults discuss things without your attempts to express yourself.
C'mon...is that all you have? A bunch of colorful characterizations? You know something, I truly feel sorry for you. You have no facts, just a lot of mindless drivel so you o on a tirade of slander to anyone who disagrees with you.
Here's some facts for you to mull over.
Obama stated that if he was given the stimulus, unemployment would not go above 8%...your comment, please? Oh, and please don't say it is worse than expected...total cop-out reply. He ran for office and made the statement, did he not?
Obama stated that if he did not turn around the economy in the first 3 years, he'd be a one-term president...Fact: It's been over three years and still unemployment is over 8%. If people who quit looking for jobs and are no longer counted were figured into the number, we'd be at 15-18% unemployment.
Obama stated he would have the most transparent administration ever. I have a herd time commenting on this one because there are so many examples where they have been everything but...let's just say that I don't buy the administration's position that no one at the top knew of the weapons sent to Mexico...that whole exercise was simply criminal. Who's taking responsibility? Certainly not Eric Holder. Obama's definition of "transparency" reminds me of Bill Clinton..."depends on what your definition of the word "is" is"...
Obama is simply not a Uniter...he's a divider. It all started back with the beer summit. Remember that fiasco? He had already convicted the white police officer before he knew the whole story. That showed me a number of things. 1. Why would a POTUS ever, ever worry themselves with such a minor incident? 2. Why would a POTUS assume the police officer was at fault unless it was a race thing? One would think, he'd be first on the side of law enforcement...3. And believing the solution was to hold a "beer summit" to discuss racial tension??? Give me a break! He is the one who's the racist.
Finally, what administration has ever sued individual states as this one has. Why? This country was founded on state sovereignty. He and his army of lawyers are treating their own like the enemy. Oh, and let's not forget the Czars...who are they and how do they get their authority. I know...Bush had them, but Obama has taken it to another level.
Go ahead and dismiss me and half the country as your savior does. That's why he'll be one and done...
Now, you go and have a good day yourself...see no name calling on my side, just a few facts for you to digest.
This is going to get old always proving you wrong. Please hit the books and do some research and come back when you know what you are talking about.
Hasn't unemployment more than doubled since he took office?
By January 2009 (Obama inauguration on the 20th) the unemployment rate was 7.6%, now its 8.9%, what college gave you degree with the math that that is "doubled"???
Hasn't the debt almost doubled within 3 years of taking office vs. the 8 years of Bush?
Again with the doubling, hyperbole much?
In 2001 our debt was around $5 trillion with a surplus on the budget
In 2009 our debt was $11 trillion (double) and a deficit of $1.2 trillion BEFORE Obama was inaugurated. Yes he has added to by about $3 trillion over the next 2 years. However, if you notice the wars are on the budget and that includes a stimulus that while too small to have a huge impact staved off certain depression. As a matter of fact, Obama's first budget was smaller than Bush's last meaning he CUT spending compared to the republicans.
What about energy - moratorium on drilling because the environmentalists are afraid of global warming - but they continue to use electricity and oil to lights their homes and run their cars.
Good for him, we need less drilling and there needs to be a demand for alternatives, the only way to do this is to eliminate subsidies and require that oil companies drill the leases they already own, which is TWICE what is being drilled now.
You can't name one function obama has done/completed, etc. to better this country - see above for clarity.
The GM bailout and the cash for clunkers will be viewed (if not already) as a triumph of government involvement in the the manufacturing sector. Just compare the 6 milion autos sold before CFC to the 13 million being sold now...thats just one.
Nevermind healthcare reform that dosen't allow for profit companies from dropping you when you get sick, or killing OBL, or ending Iraq, etc...
Cankersore,
Obama stated that if he was given the stimulus, unemployment would not go above 8%...your comment, please?
Yeah i have a comment. Cite that quote and give a time frame. Because as discussed when he was inaugurated the UE rate was already 7.6% with 700,000 jobs being lost a month.
Obama is simply not a Uniter...he's a divider
Really? You actually think He is the divider not teabaggers with their name calling and Marxists comments? I have never heard Obama call a congressman a Fascist... have you? Every policy he set for has been bi-partisan in nature and he has been open to compromise EVERY TIME. That is why the left is furious (like me) with him for being too nice to people who have openly declared their number one goal is to make him a 1 term president. Find me a policy that he didn't compromise on and you may have a point. Good luck...
Healthcare reform will be rejected by the Supreme Court...
OBL was killed by a military that was given the right tools by the previous administrations...Obama was the recipient of many years intel and effort.
The war with Iraq already had a phase-out plan. It was simply accelerated by the Iraqi's forcing us out.
Oh and BTW...cankersore? Teabaggers? See, my point exactly. You guys have nothing so you resort to the name calling. It's ok...if it makes you feel better, I'm all for it. It makes me feel better to see liberals squirm...and I know they are squirming from the names they call me. Keep making my day, please!
OBL was killed by a military that was given the right tools by the previous administrations...Obama was the recipient of many years intel and effort.
Lets see if your logic is true (never mind how wrong it is)...then you give credit for this horrible economy to Bush because it was set in place by his administration NOT Obama's????
The war with Iraq already had a phase-out plan. It was simply accelerated by the Iraqi's forcing us out.
You do know what a Commander In Chief is don't you? And you do know what the Commander in Chief is right?
You guys have nothing so you resort to the name calling.
What...? You did read my post right? I have plenty AND i resort to calling you teabaggers because that what you want to do to our country and the middle class....The true left has enough to make points with FACTS and HISTORY and call names...the right only has name calling, see the difference?
I'll give Bush some of the credit for the bad economy...but remember who made law for his past two years, yep...you are correct, sir, the democrats. Remember who never passed a budget in ...let's see, how many years? yep, the democrats...darn, you are good at this game.
Actually, we conservatives were quite upset with the Bush administration for caving to the democrats each and every time. He never vetoed any spending bills. That should have made you dems simply giddy.
Dems have no need for name calling? Now, that's funny. Ever read any of Feisty Redheads posts? You know, on most political vines, she's the first to go. Usually, some lame colorful characterization about someone on the right...or just conservatives in general. Look at some of your fellow liberals on this thread...yea, you are right, no name calling one bit, eh We??
Wow, I don't know if I'd be "proud" of supporters like royalstar if I were Obama. Just goes to show how unintelligent, childish, and pathetic his supporters really are.
Some posters revel in their arguments while not raising issues in a serious thoughtful way, nor indeed focusing on those issues of serious import.
My advise, stop wasting your time replying to canta, he's not going to engage in a thoughtful debate, he'll just keep trying to score propaganda points while joyfully twisting history and the truth into knots.
and not one fact to back up your statement...it's OK. I'm used to the answers I get from liberals...or the lack, thereof
I have provided plenty of facts...yours are the ones missing. You can't even apply your own logic across multiple points.
Example:
OBL was killed by a military that was given the right tools by the previous administrations...Obama was the recipient of many years intel and effort.
So you give all credit to Bush for giving Obama OBL...then I ask you to apply the same logic, Bush "gave" Obama everything...and we get this gem:
I'll give Bush some of the credit for the bad economy...but remember who made law for his past two years, yep...you are correct, sir, the democrats.
hmmmm...maybe pragmatist is correct, you either choose to not to have a consistent philosophy or you are incapable of it, either way I am done with you.
cantakenomore. you should find another game to play; "irritate the bloggers" is kind of silly.
It's fine you don't like Obama. That's what makes America great, you have a choice. However, the game you are playing, is just plain silly. Other folks (both sides) post facts and sites where the info was gathered and so on. That does not matter to you, just the game.
That in itself, reflects directly on you. Vote for who you want to take control of this country, it's not an easy job... so choose wisely.
Just curious, were you ever a bully in school? Or, were you the one that tried to help?
Now that's a good one...irritate the bloggers. Well, if you read my posts, you'll see I never once called the liberals names, only showed their hypocrisy. You really need me to post the facts about the labor numbers, the "beer summit", the lack of transparency, etc.? Really? No, your fellow liberals were the ones calling the names and irritating conservative bloggers with their mindless drivel. Hmmm, not a large percentage of posters providing links...my imagination or what? No need to post links to well known facts, though.
How about you tell me why our Attorney General did not know about arms being shipped to Mexican drug cartels? Please, enlighten me. I've been paying attention to this one and all he can do is trip over his own pee pee.
Please tell me I am wrong when I say Obama stated he'd be a one term president if employment wasn't over 8%.
One year closer until the great dictator Obummer is out of office.
Won't be much different when the repubs are in office heh heh. Funny thing, where are all the jobs they promised last election, not much different, huh? Can't wait till this next election if the repubs get elected, everybody will be saying the same about them LOL. Same old same old heh heh.
The inference is it's all the republicans fault, heh, heh. So what is the solution - find a Constitution Conservative who will limit government and expand the free market - plain and simple, heh, heh.
unemployment above 9% before a FEW republicans were elected last year, now down a little although not much. so you are contradicting your own point, you realise this don't you? or are you merely arguing with yourself? now thats a real LOL.
Please. Let's keep in mind how the government "counts" the unemployed. If you've been unemployed for longer than 99 weeks or you've simply "given up" looking for work, you're no longer counted as unemployed and that helps the unemployment rate "drop." Meanwhile, it doesn't really change a damn thing, does it? The true unemployment rate is closer to 14% if you actually count everybody who's unemployed and WANTS to work instead of using "government math" to perform the calculation.
Yes, you're right NSDNC, those who are not qualifying for unemployment and who have given up are not counted in the official unemployment rate. But that's always been the case. You cite a rate of 14%...where did you get this figure and how does it compare to the true unemployment rate during other recessions?
In Eric's earlier posting, there were some good charts demonstrating the economic uptick in the last two years...the recession is over. But unemployment remains high, and probably will continue to be primarily for structural reasons (outsourcing, mechanization, etc.) and because Republicans refuse to move on Obama's job bills. And conservatives, please don't recite the number of bills Repubs sent to the Senate, those bills would do little to create jobs while extending the economic policies which led to the 2008 crisis in the first place.
We need to implement some demand-side economics, forget the trickle down BS.
All you stupid complainers who had a bad year because Obama is the president...GET OVER IT!! My baby died this year, and trust me, that is far worse than any president in office. Rearrange your priorities people.
What happened to those MILLIONS of JOBS??? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the NUMBER of EMPLOYED PEOPLE has GONE DOWN from Apr. 2009 to Oct. 2011 by about 400,000!!
Take a look for yourself.

All you stupid complainers who had a bad year because Obama is the president...GET OVER IT!! My baby died this year, and trust me, that is far worse than any president in office. Rearrange your priorities people..........
So sorry to hear that. You are right. No one should complain about a bad year unless they have walked in your shoes.
That is terrible, and I am so sorry for your loss. Too hard to even contemplate. It's of little comfort, but the inner strength and faith you've had to find to go on, despite how hard it sometimes probably is, may be the thing that gets you through. I lost my other half almost four years ago. Too young and too fast and you spend a lot of time trying to mourn while trying to carry on. Not always easy.
Most of the cheap shots and stupid comments on here are from the same trolls who act like schoolyard bozos who are becoming fossilized with their opinions. The sad part about this is that it usually takes something of the magnitude of what happened to you to snap them out of their huge and utter micro-focus and brain-dead viewpoints. Also their lack of reasoning of their arguments nor respect for anyother opinion, and lack of facts to back up their claims makes most of the people on here seem depressingly moronic.
@Brenda and JPArch. Thank you for your comments. Ever since my sweet little girl died, I get really tired and impatient with people who complain about nonsense. Sometimes they are too caught up in themselves to see how good they have it. I guess that's ok though, I wouldn't wish losing a child on anyone. :-)
Sometimes they are too caught up in themselves to see how good they have it.
Took the words right out of my mouth. There are some people that would pay to have the "problems" that some of us have. People are sooo selfish and ungrateful. People would rather complain about what they DON"T have instead of beign thankful for what the do have.
2011 was another depressing year with little growth in the economy, a dark grey cloud of uncertainly for businesses (especially small and medium), further decline in our home prices, inflation in food, gas and utilities. Most depressing was nothing done in Washington by ALL parties to improve things, continued waste of OUR money by our politicians, record deficit spending for our grand kids to pay back and finally the beating of the drum that the "makers" are taking to much and the "takers" deserve more. I guess the good news is we can only go up from here...we all can hope...
I agree but no longer can have any hope. Been getting worse in the last forty years. Only thing to do is wait till next summer when OWS gets really going.
Your bleak picture is too dark. Did you notice the proportion of people who said they had a awesome, good, or fair year?
The recession is over and the economy is improving (although must watch out for Europe's mess).
And cano, before this last recession and excluding the housing bubble, we've had it pretty good in the U.S. the last 40 years.
I suspect you're a white male because after the civil rights and women's movement, the last 40 years have been better than any before for women and minorities.
As a 51 year female, I'm very thankful to those women who fought for our rights which allowed me to become a good mother AND a successful professional.
DP - I beg to differ, OWS represents 100% of my working class family and while we are not Catholic and do use some birthcontrol, there are still quite a large number of us not to mention all the people I work with. Much to the dismay of the 1%, OWS is a lot more popular than they want to think about and of course it will give the teabaggers absolute fits if all OWS supporters actually show up and vote in November. I will gladly take a vacation day to drive them to the polls. I'd do most anything legal and decent to rid this nation of the grip the upper 1% holds on this country, regardless of the party they belong to.
Not sure about your comment on white male, but I will tell you this...I currently employ 90 people and am not hiring. The money we make is paying down debt and not investing in equipment. When we are busy everyone gets overtime. WHY? because of uncertainty in the future...which is driven more by Washington than anything else... We have sat the last 3 years out. My added demand is supported by buying offshore at 75% of my material only costs. Yes, I have to agree the last 40 years have been good, but my concern is really on the next 40... When I look at what other countries are doing to try to grow business and specifically manufacturing, our country needs to make some serious changes or we won't be around in 40 years. (Since 1996 our mfg. industry segment's employment went from 1.4 million to 400,000 today in a product group that has had a compound growth of 4% since 1990). Today the company produces $326K of product vs. $190K in 1995 annually per person and our profit percentage is lower.
There is so much that can be done to improve things and we spend a month arguing about a two month extension on SS tax...
Actually I agree with you, my concern is also the next 40 years. Because without manufacturing, we must somehow create living-wage jobs for people who do not have the academic talent to obtain a higher education and enter the highly skilled job market.
It's a global economy and there's no retreat that will not hurt more than help. So labor intensive manufacturing will continue to flow to low-wage countries. We have to compete fiercely on the high end...but while good for the economy, being successful there won't create the jobs we need.
You're right, our Congress (and too many of the rest of us) fighting over everything without sitting down and hashing out a rational way forward is one of our core problems in these critical times.
Awesome Year, I got to watch this Administration take down the Economic Structure of America, tell the "Lie" to the Citizenry (getting them to approve it). Witness the World Standing decline of United States. Without so much a mis-step I profited from the ignorance that prevails (sorry OCCUPEE). Sad as it is to watch and as much pain there is here surviving for many is the best they can hope for. I gave most of my money to those for Homeless, Child Safe Home, etc. None of it went to Salvation Rumy, United Wasted, and for sure not to anyone with hand out. Plan the same 2012, after all nothing here will change. There is the "Give Me" factor who sees Government as it's only way out, that is what Obama has created and that is what will drag us further into the Abyss.
I've skimmed all these comments and find the negativity just really sad. Until folk stop thinking in the negative and into the positive not much will change because there will never be enough: enough money, food, time, etc. My income is fixed and many would say that I live at a poverty level. Yet, I have a lovely home, good friends, 3 grand cats, and music to fill my life (I am a musician, both teacher and performer). This summer I got to travel to a part of the world I never expected to see with the wind quintet in which I play and learn about a culture that is so very old as to make America look in its infancy. So, while those looking in from the outside might say my year wasn't all that great, I say I had a good year and look forward to creating a good 2012. Blessed Be!
Clearly the braindead are out in force today, directed by their puppet masters at Saudi-owned Fox. Obama is the only president in our lifetime who actually is helping the middle class recover from the GOP suckling at the teet of wealthy multinational corporations. He will be elected by one of the widest margins in history, thanks to the conservatives' obdurance and lack of serious candidates. You "patriots" keep believing the costly corporate propaganda, even though it is against your best interests, because hate is an easy sell to those too lazy to look at facts.
Hey Ronacrone... your post is the precise definition of "drivel." All I see is partisan B.S. with absolutely NOTHING to back anything you've said up. Please, keep believing that Obama isn't also in the back pockets of the corporations you are claiming to hate when he's built up over a billion dollar campaign war chest.
msdnc... what you missed about ronacrone's post was that it was an opinion that was shared, not a post of stats. Therefore, sharing an opinion can not be labelled "drivel". Drivel is defined as 'nonsense' another person's opinion is not drivel, it's an opinion. Opinion is defined as: 'a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter' no where in the definition does it say that an opinion must match all other people's opinion. Opinions are personal. It's fine to share an opinion that you have. You do it frequently.
chiggers... those are the horrible little bugs that mainly live in the southern part of the country that bite over and over, little parasites those chiggers. Oh wait, were you trying to insult the POTUS? oops, didn't work. just reflected back on who you are... and it's not JC!
One year closer until the great dictator Obummer is out of office.
Hahahahahaha, your too funny.
There is light at the end of this tunnel.
We had a house fire Jan.15,we lost everything except the dog & cat,& us........
Luckily we had good insurance,& we moved into our new home in late May.......
Living in hotels & a rent house was awful.NEVER AGAIN,LOL
Those %'s mean bad things for Obama's re-election.
That's it for you? Sad.
Should mean bad things for the teabaggers in Congress who vowed to create jobs, jobs, jobs....Hey teabaggers where are the jobs?
Obama has been creating them for 22 straight months...
you are so very wrong Joey it is one year till the GOP and tea bagger's are in the boston harbor right where they belong he he he he
Those numbers don't lie 75 % of Americans are fed-up we need a change of direction and Obama is not planning to do it. His steering wheel is taking us to the cliff. Three years and nothing change the only difference is that we are getting use to live in this condition, this is unacceptable. We don't need 4 more years of the same to let Obama prove he is right. Doing the same thing another four years and expect different results is insane ,we got enough.
Obama kept us out of a depression. Look at the following graphs and tell me that things have not gotten better.
First GDP graph: http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/national/gdp/gdp_glance.htm
The economy has grown each and every quarter since Obama was elected.
Look at jobless claims: http://www.bullandbearwise.com/InitialJoblessChart.asp
Notice that after Obama came into office that jobless claims fell dramatically and continue to fall.
Look at how the Dow has increased since Obama's election: http://stockcharts.com/freecharts/historical/djia1900.html
Lastly, look at these 3 charts: http://ourfuture.org/blog-entry/2011083428/three-charts-email-your-right-wing-brother-law
Eric, You do realize that Government spending is IN those GDP numbers right? You may want to call back the parade and forget that victory lap for now.
@talktothehand, yes I know that. They have always been included in those numbers.
It's still the best indicator of economic growth and accepted by most economist.
It's not accepted by most righties that want to spew doom and gloom about the economy.
Comment # 1 restored for clarity.
"This is not the change you are looking for"
Hoping for Obummer to be out, Look at the other candiates: Bachmann is a liar, Gingrich we had enough of him during the Clinton Administration, Perry is telling women that no abortions at all if he gets in, And Romney......He may get back in..... I hope not tho!
Hey Tyler what is wrong with my comment # 1.9. OWS is in newsvine?
It's unfortunate that everyone else can't say the same thing, but if 2012 even comes close to 2011, I will be a very happy camper :)
all you cons are so wrong in your views it is amazing that you can even function.
"Obummer"?
Have some respect, for god's sake.
I didn't like Bush, but I respected him as the President of the United States.
Ok...so you want 4 years of Gingrich?
Couple things about Obama's policies....they are moderate, historically bi-partisan, and have created 22 months of job growth. Heck, if he is a one termer he will have created more jobs in his presidency that Bush did in 8 years.
Please list the policies that are bringing us to a brink...be specific.
Please list the months of job growth when the unemployment rate continues to rise.
Mark T-731621,
The unemployment rate has dropped; due to more and more people giving up the idea of ever finding employment, or by more people accepting part time and poverty level employment.
YEA!
No its a sign that corporations have successfully used this recession to drive down the cost of labor. While we have sat here arguing about who is worse and who is to blame in government, the real problems (corporations) has taken over. Welcome to the new American economy, service get used to it or change the laws to favor We the People nor the corporations.
Obama kept us out of a depression. Look at the following graphs and tell me that things have not gotten better.
First GDP graph: http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/national/gdp/gdp_glance.htm
The economy has grown each and every quarter since Obama was elected.
Look at jobless claims: http://www.bullandbearwise.com/InitialJoblessChart.asp
Notice that after Obama came into office that jobless claims fell dramatically and continue to fall.
Look at how the Dow has increased since Obama's election: http://stockcharts.com/freecharts/historical/djia1900.html
Lastly, look at these 3 charts: http://ourfuture.org/blog-entry/2011083428/three-charts-email-your-right-wing-brother-law
Larry
Blame Bush for Democrats and Obama's policies is insane , after 2 years of fully dominated Congress you can say Obama did not have his opportunity, not even Obama's campaign can run more adds blaming Bush. Debby Wassermann the head of DNC said , this is our economy. Like it or not.
oskar
Certainly the Democrats had control of the house for two years and were able to pass bills but the senate use their filibuster power to stop those bills that would create jobs and restructure the tax codes. Just one example of many.
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/10/senate-republicans-block-dem-jobs-bill-for-teachers-firefighters.php
We the Corporations
DB,
Yes, it is about making a profit, however they are also showing their true convictions.
In present frame of mind - ANYBODY BUT Obama - He will go down in history as the worst President for the middle class!!!!!!!!!!!
Mindless McCain and the even more mindless Palin would have been ALOT worse.
royalstar...
funny comment...too bad there's no way to tell, eh? We can only make sure we don't make the same mistake that was made in 2008. Barry is one and done...
Who is this Barry you speak of ?
Royalstar05. Barry is the HMIC, HSIC, HCIC, etc. etc. etc.
What!? Childish drivel you have there.
Royalstar , Palin didn't do such a bad job as Governor, What did OBLAMEA do besides NOTHING.
Lioberals call the Republicans the party of NO, Well OBLAMEA is the President of NOTHING.
buckieboy, think what you want, but i think you are wrong. 49% approval rating for Obama now.
I love the made up names teabaggers give Obama, reminds me of their maturity level. He negotiated an international missile defense treaty...Palin didn't even know where South Africa was...
WE the corp.................."I love the teabaggers". Maturity??? Pot calling the kettle black come to mind??
Oh I see you don't know your Tea Party history...they named themselves Teabaggers in articles as far back as January 2009.
I can't find an article where Obama calls himself Obummber, Oblamea, etc...
Nice try though...
They may have been called "teabaggers" since 09 by the frantic liberals trying to degrade their cause but I find no article where the Teaparty called themselves "teabaggers". I believe obumbo has used this derogatory term many times but we sure can't call him a n****r which would be derogatory as well.
Shhhh....you're embarrassing yourself by not knowing the history of your own party
http://realworldpolitics.blogspot.com/2010/01/who-first-used-term-teabagger.html
Wow so your true colors come out, this is why people play the race card on teabaggers...cause it's true. Doing something (teabagging) and being something (black) are completely different things. Its very telling of your true feeling when you create a false equivalency.
Buckieboy: Palin didn't do such a bad job as Governor
Yeah, especially right after that part where she quit before her term was complete. Such high standards you have....
Martin Luther King had a dream. We have a Nightmare.
ANYONE but Obama
She quit to run as Vice-President, nothing wrong , Obama vote absent in congress most of the time.
You leftist can say all you want of Palin , but by election time Obama never show he was more prepare than her. He was nothing without teleprompter.
Obama kept us out of a depression. Look at the following graphs and tell me that things have not gotten better.

Rick "Ni66er Head" Perry for president in 2012!!!!
Keep racism alive in America for atleast another generation!!!!
NAACP and Obama likes along with Democrats ike Erick Holder keep racism alive. I don't see color blind people among them.
oskar: Since Palin resigned on July 3 2009, I guess she hadn't got the memo that the race was over?
Try doing at least *some* fact checking, so as not to look like quite so much a fool, 'k?
How did discussing how the year was for each voter get to ripping political figures apart? My year was awsome, I'm a Cancer survivor. Next question?
Veteran: Congratulations to you, and best wishes for long-term remission.
That is AWESOME!!! Congratulations, A Veteran and thank you for your service.
Much as I hate this worn out phrase...You need to stop drinking the Kool Aide.
jim298 - so true!
@mudsharktoo
It is the American consumers that demand low prices. We are the ones that painted ourselves into this corner.
Shop small. Not Mall.
Aggie, it's so sweet that you actually believe that. She quit to make more money on Faux News. Duh. Money makes the world go around. the more you have, the less you share and the more you want more.
Eric, You do realize that Government spending is IN those GDP numbers right? You may want to call back the parade and forget that victory lap for now.
Aggie...Palin was/is a crook. She is dumb as a fox...like the show. She saw the stupidity of the teaparty AND cashed in..nothing more. LOL
Aggie,
I watched her press conference when she quit and based on the rambling nonsense dribble that came from her mouth, she didn't know why she was quitting either.
Not for the majority of Americans that say Obama is taking us to the wrong direction.
vwterry & praysalot....
Royal had it right from the beginning, McCain and Palin WOULD have been worse for this country hands down.
I so agree, JM298. Mr. Obama has failed on most fronts and has mostly failed the middle-class. Of course, many of us are teetering on the edge of "poor-class" now, including myself.
I love the made up names teabaggers give Obama, reminds me of their maturity level.
Really?? This is your defense??
Aggie, you wrote about Palin before I did. Why did you bring her up?
The childish names for the President come straight from right wing talkers such as Hannity and Limbaugh....hardly known for their education levels.
Just so frustrated witht he Congress and its childish refusal to compromise for the BENEFIT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! Hello!!!??!!
Republicans = Fillibuster
Republicans = Just say no, regardless of what it is.
Republicans = If President Obama is for it, we're against it. Even if we are the ones who thought of it.
Republicans = OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT IN 2012
This is all the result of our elected officials from both sides of the isle being in the pocket of corporations that are selling us out for another big bonus or payday..They love it when we bicker about party line as it distracts us from their insider tips and penny stock buys arranged by big money and big business.. Shoving forced health insurance down our throats, bet the votes in favor of that have medical and insurance stocks.. So cheer for you idiot..
Theresa
On,y braiwashed people will vote for Obama twice
Only Americans who want a more divided country will vote for Obama
Only Americans left wing nuts who beleave that S

@Buckieboy, I couldn't agree with you more..but here is a tid bit...the senate is part of congress..Congress is comprised of the Senate AND the House of Representatives...
That's easy MSDNC, you've fallen for the GOP lies, that's all.
You can google any jobless claims chart and get the same results.
As for "ourfuture" they just reported the graph. The graph comes from www.gpoaccess.gov
That's a government website. It reports data from all 3 branches of government.
oskar
You've been drinking too much TEA. It's already poisoned your mind into believing things that aren't true. Like Palin resigning to run for vice president and Obama dividing the country. The thing dividing the country is the Republicans trying to protect the wealthy while the economy goes south. The 2001-2002 tax cuts have nearly destroyed the country yet the Republicans insist on protecting them.
Check the unemployment rate after the Bush tax cuts. Unemployment took a sharp rise just after they were signed into law. That's a fact.
This can't all be about politics and the economy, I became a cancer survivor this year. Thanks to my surgeon and doctors. Life is sweet.
Larry
You need to UPDATE your FACTS.
Take a look at the Chart and Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
You will notice a DECREASE in Unemployment for 5+ years starting June 2003. The 2003 Tax Cuts was put into law in May 2003.
http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/lns14000000
It is because the Bush administration did not include the cost of the wars when explaining the national debt. Pres Obama has shown those costs which then makes it appear that he has raised the national debt so much. I thought this was common knowledge but then again it's something the other side doesn't want to acknowledge or discuss. Also all this talk about raising the debt ceiling has nothing to do with spending now it has to do with past spending and paying off those bills kind of like when you use a charge card.
jt
Look up Overseas Contingency Bills. That's how the Wars were paid for. BTW. The Democrats could have STOPPED the FUNDING ANYTIME they wished starting in 2007. I wonder why they didn't. Then there is the Filibuster in the Senate. I wonder why they didn't do that from DAY ONE.
Obozo Hussein Obodyodor=worst president of all time
All you cancer surviviors=dead under obozocare
Eric-913730,
Just because you post the same liberal-skewed links again and again doesn't make them true. Sorry.
Eric,
I don't think links from .gov strengthen your arguement. We have known for years and years the Gov't skews statistics to meet their current babble.
I'm sorry for your losses...hugs.
Time for a reboot, and it starts at the top.
Reboot?! Obama is and will be better than ANY of the mindless idiots that are running against him today.
there you go again, royalstar.
Anyone that says it is solely his fault is clearly not very educated on our political system.
royalstar...
good one...can't present facts to back your misguided statements, so we're all morons. It's ok, we'll see who takes the cake in November. I hope you libs can handle the outcome.
"lost to a black guy" ?? A little racist comment there, royalstar?
take no more , you know what i meant smartass. Learn to read. I will wait, and it will be a Obama win.
the race card royalstar? really? that all ya got? why not conveniently forget that he had the dem.controlled seneate and house for his first two years and still managed to accomplish absolutely nothing good and stick to the ol blame bush strategy while your at it.
Race card? What the hell are you talking about Tramp. Learn how to read. My god, stay off here if you dont know what your doing. You guys are pissed that your guy Mccain lost to a black guy. Your problem not mine.
He's not a black guy.....he's half white.
@icantakenomore, here is your proof:
Obama kept us out of a depression. Look at the following graphs and tell me that things have not gotten better.
First GDP graph: http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/national/gdp/gdp_glance.htm
The economy has grown each and every quarter since Obama was elected.
Look at jobless claims: http://www.bullandbearwise.com/InitialJoblessChart.asp
Notice that after Obama came into office that jobless claims fell dramatically and continue to fall.
Look at how the Dow has increased since Obama's election: http://stockcharts.com/freecharts/historical/djia1900.html
Lastly, look at these 3 charts: http://ourfuture.org/blog-entry/2011083428/three-charts-email-your-right-wing-brother-law
Still waiting for your explanation on how Obama only raised spending by 7.2% compared to Bush's alleged 88% spending increase and yet added the same amount to our national debt in three years that Bush added in eight years. All I hear are crickets so far.
It's easy, it looks like Obama spent more because there are fewer revenues due to the tax cuts.
It's all part of the Repubican's master plan called, "starving the beast".
However, if you go here: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BUDGET-2011-PER/pdf/BUDGET-2011-PER.pdf
You'll see that housing prices stopped falling in 2009 (p.9)
Personal savings has increased since 2008 (p. 11)
You can see that GDP projections moving forward will all trend up (p. 22)
And, we will have to tackle Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security if we really want to take action on the debt. (p. 46)
usa1967......when did the rule change? I alway thought a half white/half black man is Black.
royalstar05, you are suspended for a week for violating rule # 1 of the Code of Honor.
Sally....are you reading All posts....just askin... looks a LOT right sided to me...your peTEA coats are showing Get a grip.
Obozo is only black when campaigning for the black vote. Uncle Tom is he.
Looks like more bad than any good...
Not going to change until we rid ourselves of Obama...
Thats like saying once you rolled in poison ivy and put on a shirt, the rash won't get better till you take off the shirt...likes its the shirts fault you itch...hilarious that teabaggers are so clueless.
It was screwed before Obama got here. What difference will it make when he's gone?
The difference is the people who screwed it on purpose would be back in charge...
Where...It won't change until the party of "NO" grows up.
The party of "NO" is about to take the senate as well, we will hogtie this Uncle Tom if he bumbles into another term...
:) too bad, so sad dems.
Looks like more bad than any good...
Not going to change until we rid ourselves of Obama...
Please tell us where we would be right now if the Republican's had won in 2008.
JM - If you truly believe your last sentence, then your IQ is very low.
He's a muslim for sure.
You better wake up people, not saying he's the best, but really look at the alternative!!!
sfilutze...
Who is this Barry you speak of ?
And just exactly how has obama kept us from falling off the cliff? Hasn't unemployment more than doubled since he took office? Hasn't the debt almost doubled within 3 years of taking office vs. the 8 years of Bush? What about energy - moratorium on drilling because the environmentalists are afraid of global warming - but they continue to use electricity and oil to lights their homes and run their cars.
You can't name one function obama has done/completed, etc. to better this country - see above for clarity.
Ron Paul is our only alternative worth considering.Do some research and educate yourselves.
royalstar...
Barry Soetoro...look it up sometime.
cantakenomore, you and your ilk have just proved yourselves the outright idiots that you are. Racist, dimwit, rednecks if you believe that drivel. I feel sorry for you. I am through with you also. Have fun with your pathetic little life. Goodbye.
royalstar....................take another hit off your bong and get off your Mom's computer. Let the adults discuss things without your attempts to express yourself.
and good riddance!...
usa1967, 1967 must be the year of car you drive. Stop your nonsense drivel. You are NO adult bigshot.
royalstar...
Roy,
This is going to get old always proving you wrong. Please hit the books and do some research and come back when you know what you are talking about.
By January 2009 (Obama inauguration on the 20th) the unemployment rate was 7.6%, now its 8.9%, what college gave you degree with the math that that is "doubled"???
http://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2009/feb/wk2/art02.htm
Again with the doubling, hyperbole much?
In 2001 our debt was around $5 trillion with a surplus on the budget
In 2009 our debt was $11 trillion (double) and a deficit of $1.2 trillion BEFORE Obama was inaugurated. Yes he has added to by about $3 trillion over the next 2 years. However, if you notice the wars are on the budget and that includes a stimulus that while too small to have a huge impact staved off certain depression. As a matter of fact, Obama's first budget was smaller than Bush's last meaning he CUT spending compared to the republicans.
Good for him, we need less drilling and there needs to be a demand for alternatives, the only way to do this is to eliminate subsidies and require that oil companies drill the leases they already own, which is TWICE what is being drilled now.
Cankersore,
Yeah i have a comment. Cite that quote and give a time frame. Because as discussed when he was inaugurated the UE rate was already 7.6% with 700,000 jobs being lost a month.
We...
Lets see if your logic is true (never mind how wrong it is)...then you give credit for this horrible economy to Bush because it was set in place by his administration NOT Obama's????
You do know what a Commander In Chief is don't you? And you do know what the Commander in Chief is right?
What...? You did read my post right? I have plenty AND i resort to calling you teabaggers because that what you want to do to our country and the middle class....The true left has enough to make points with FACTS and HISTORY and call names...the right only has name calling, see the difference?
We...
LMAO...
"We the corporations?" writes...
The true left has enough to make points with FACTS and HISTORY and call names...the right only has name calling, see the difference?
But, previously wrote this little gem...
Cankersore,
hmmmm, I suppose "We the corporations?" just isn't a true lefty...
What's wrong there, We? Cankersore got your tongue?
Wow, I don't know if I'd be "proud" of supporters like royalstar if I were Obama. Just goes to show how unintelligent, childish, and pathetic his supporters really are.
We the Corporations
Some posters revel in their arguments while not raising issues in a serious thoughtful way, nor indeed focusing on those issues of serious import.
My advise, stop wasting your time replying to canta, he's not going to engage in a thoughtful debate, he'll just keep trying to score propaganda points while joyfully twisting history and the truth into knots.
pragmatist...
and not one fact to back up your statement...it's OK. I'm used to the answers I get from liberals...or the lack, thereof!
I have provided plenty of facts...yours are the ones missing. You can't even apply your own logic across multiple points.
Example:
So you give all credit to Bush for giving Obama OBL...then I ask you to apply the same logic, Bush "gave" Obama everything...and we get this gem:
hmmmm...maybe pragmatist is correct, you either choose to not to have a consistent philosophy or you are incapable of it, either way I am done with you.
either way I am done with you
Excellent! I'm having trouble understanding where you started with me.
cantakenomore. you should find another game to play; "irritate the bloggers" is kind of silly.
Or, were you the one that tried to help?
funneme...
I called him Barry Soetoro...and your point is?
Health Care will NOT be rejected by the S.C.
oh yes it will...unconstitutional.
Keep dreamin cantman.
post613
Won't be much different when the repubs are in office heh heh. Funny thing, where are all the jobs they promised last election, not much different, huh? Can't wait till this next election if the repubs get elected, everybody will be saying the same about them LOL. Same old same old heh heh.
Yes worms, just like the jobs obama promised and just like the unemployment rate won't go above 8%.
Yup, reread my post repub, I stated it wasn't much different while Obama has been in office heh heh.
The inference is it's all the republicans fault, heh, heh. So what is the solution - find a Constitution Conservative who will limit government and expand the free market - plain and simple, heh, heh.
can,
unemployment above 9% before a FEW republicans were elected last year, now down a little although not much. so you are contradicting your own point, you realise this don't you? or are you merely arguing with yourself? now thats a real LOL.
This is a GREAT read...
FYI that stimulus didn't create " zero" jobs it actually created between 1.4 to 3.3 MILLION JOBS.
Simply put, more people would be unemployed if not for the stimulus bill....Which was compliments of President Obama..

All you stupid complainers who had a bad year because Obama is the president...GET OVER IT!! My baby died this year, and trust me, that is far worse than any president in office. Rearrange your priorities people.
Connie

@Jen31.
Again, my condolences for your loss.
OWS is a joke! They don't represent the 99%. They represent somthing like the 0.2% and the other 98.8% got bored with their reality show antics.

The comment about white male was made to cano...
America is in decline, I doubt very much either party cares lol. All they care about is lining their own pockets heh heh.
Blessed Be!
Since Obama changed the definition of poverty to pad his campaign alot more people fall under the gov. defintion of poverty.
You have a lovely attitude!....Thank you for your pleasant outlook!
Please, keep believing that Obama isn't also in the back pockets of the corporations you are claiming to hate when he's built up over a billion dollar campaign war chest.
obama's sheep are amazing!
msdnc... what you missed about ronacrone's post was that it was an opinion that was shared, not a post of stats.
"You have a lovely attitude!....Thank you for your pleasant outlook!"
Thank you. One reason I don't visit NV much anymore is all the negativity.
Hey sfilutze! What flavor is your cool-aid?
I just want to rich to get richer, so I can get a job washing their new car. I think you call that supply side economics.
You have the ambition of a true Progressive. Strive only for whats given to you!
Hey DP!
Richard wants to work and will be grateful to be employed by the job creators.
Sounds good to me. Post your telephone number and maybe I'll give you a call.

Going to be even better when the repubs finish it off heh heh.
Strange days indeed!
Having that chigger in charge has made life miserable. He makes my butt itch, otherwise major pain.
Racist.
chiggers... those are the horrible little bugs that mainly live in the southern part of the country that bite over and over, little parasites those chiggers. Oh wait, were you trying to insult the POTUS? oops, didn't work. just reflected back on who you are... and it's not JC!
