But guess what? That won't make the victim's suffering go away, nor will it give any more satisfaction than civilized justice. The police say "hundreds," the man says he slept with thousands in 3 years - that number, while very high would be possible by Craigslist "casual encounters" or whatever they call it. You obviously didn't read my post, so I'll try this again: Even with our extensive appeals process, countless victims of execution are later proven to be innocent after they're already dead. If we just swiftly executed people on the spot, it stands to reason that countless more innocent people would be murdered by the government.

Speaking of opposing arguments we love, I just love it when people cite Singapore as the ideal society when it comes to justice. So let's talk a little bit about Singapore. In 1970, the government completely abolished trial by jury. Instead, a lone judge now gets to decide-- without appeal-- whether you're guilty or innocent. If this judge has some personal bias against you (for example, maybe he holds some sort of resentment toward white Americans), you're just SOL. Time to die.

How do you know he didn't rape anyone? Not all of those 3,000 people have come forward. Many rape victims don't go to the police. Just because he claims it was consensual, doesn't mean it was.

It matters what his motivations are a lot. Let me put it to you like this: Scenario 1) a child is playing and throws his ball. His trajetory is not great, and in this accident, it breaks his mother's vase. My issue with the death penalty is it is rarely applied equally, too often applied to innocent people and is not reversible. Life in prison, without the luxuries, is a fitting punishment. Aids in the US was started in the Gay community. Some years ago a documentary featured young gay men in SF who contracted it deliberately because, in their words, "You're not cool if you don't have HIV."

There were instances of people dying without a discernable cause, and the cadavers were donated to scientific study, when they tested for HIV-after reliable tests were designed-guess what? Yup! HIV was found in the frozen cadavers! They only searched for, and found, a "Patient Zero" when the hospitals of New York were filling up with young gay men with Karposi's Sarcoma and other "opportunistic infections" like pneumonia. Like I said, "A" patient zero...not "The" patient zero--this stuff has actually been around for a long time waiting for its critical mass.

Whatever the case may be nowadays it's wise to use protection during sexual intercourse, especially with strangers, but even this does not guarantee immunity against the disease.

Perhaps you should educate yourself a bit? Yes there are a small group who still support the polio vaccine origins but they are in the minority not the main stream. While the polio vaccine gives a nod to the fact SIV was the source it ignores the fact that HIV has been traced back to deaths much earlier than when Sulk and company created the vaccine.

I do not know the cause of this virus other than it could develop into AIDS and since research is still being conducted; I take for granted scholars in the science field do not know either.

It is a virus, replicated from another virus genetically identical to it, unless it mutates during the replication process. It doesn't really have a cause, any more than a human has a cause, except that someone reproduced to make a baby human.

It's not CAUSED by gay men; it was initially SPREAD mostly by gay men. It most likely originated as a mutated form of SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus), which causes similar symptoms in apes. Such mutations can occur spontaneously (not man-made), as in avian or swine flu viruses mutating to be able to infect humans as well as birds and pigs.

I had one ex-boyfriend come home flashing a piece of paper proving he had tested negative for all STDs and was thus "clean" and therefore didn't need to wear a condom...I had another ex-boyfriend insist that birth control was the strictly my responsibility since "you're the one that gets pregnant" (though in his defense he did offer to help pay for my pills)...still another informed me that he would "rather cut my d--- off" than wear a condom....and thus the reasons they are all EX boyfriends.

Ladies (and guys who swing the other way) it is time to demand more from our partners: simply put, unless and until you are ready to get pregnant (or are physically unable to do so due to sterilization, etc.) and/or you have both tested negative for all diseases and have pledged to be monogamous, you use a condom every single time, or you get no action. Period. If your partners don't like it, tell them to take a walk. We all deserve to be safe. And we all need to take responsibility for ourselves. No one ever died from lack of sex!

Nothing says you HAVE TO have sex with a man who won't use a condom. Unless you are raped, you still have a choice.

I feel most of the blame lies with the man trying to spread HIV, but unprotected sex is still a risky behavior, and by engaging in it, his partners assumed that risk. We would expect them to bear some responsibility if he didn't know his status, and infected them unwittingly.

Infected blood has an incubation period where it will test negative, so while the risk is very low, it is not zero.

I was not blaming anything on the woman, it is technically both partners fault for not being safe. Unfortunately this time the man had a motive and preyed on people who did not insist on that step. I don't have a clue why the needle argument has anything to do with this, if someone got HIV from sharing needles, condoms would be a protection against that in a sexual situation. If a woman insists on her partner not wearing a condom then the man needs to take the initiative and be responsible.

You can be in a trusting monogamus relationship and still get lied to and cheated on. Now, once you find out, you learn that someone broke the trust. But until you do, you think that everything is fine. A monogamus relationship means nothing, since you are never 100% sure that your partner is being honest. Men on the DL (down low) will never let you know what they are doing. Most cheaters, men and women, don't leave their relationship for the booty calls or the one night stands. So you can have a partner that believes that the relationship is monogamus until they find out otherwise.
