Prison bus with 16 inmates overturns on NY thruway

A New York City Department of Correction bus carrying 16 prisoners to a medium-security state prison has crashed on the New York State Thruway.

The bus overturned in Rockland County near Ramapo, between exits 14A and 14B on the northbound side.

Injured prisoners were being taken to an area hospital. Officials said none appeared to be seriously hurt.

Three DOC workers were also on board. The prisoners were being returned to Ulster Correctional facility after being in New York City for court appearances, officials said.

Chopper footage showed prisoners being loaded onto ambulances, while uninjured prisoners waited outside the overturned bus, handcuffed to each other.

Traffic is backed up for several miles.

Maybe it was Chris Tucker doing a sequel to "Money Talks."

Could this be "Money Talks 2" with Chris Tucker and Charlie Sheen?

"I don't care" is the best line in that movie. When someone whines at work I look at them the same way and with the best Jones voice I can muster and tell them "I don't care!"

Thank you Sarasotan. I agree. That was on of the most ignorant statements I have ever read.

What do you sugggest billc, we incinerate anyone convicted of any crime? So that would be 1 in 5 males by the time they reach age 25 (2010 BCA statistics of violent crime). We just pack 1 out of every 5 men in America into a bus and drive it over a cliff? Way to think before you talk there Chief.

The visual of the prisoners handcuffed together reminds me of the time I had to tie 8 1st graders together with rope around their waists so they couldn't run off while on a field trip to the zoo.

Really Mark? So would it be safe to infer that if it were up to you, it would be OK to just kill everyone who's in prison, because by extension, that's what you're suggesting?

                      Wow, the ignorance is amazing!

Hey MARK, do you have any clue what any of these people were charged with? Does it matter to you that they are brothers, sons, fathers, uncles? It says no where in this article that any of them were ever convicted of a crime. They were being bussed in for court appearances. Unless these were those rare post-conviction proceedings, every one of these "prisoners" had yet to be convicted of anything.

Do you really think it would be good to kill someone just because they've been charged with a crime? A person, such as yourself MARK, could find themselves held for a mistake like driving after revocation or failing to pay parking tickets or failing to provide proof of insurance. Would you like it if someone celebrated your death in such a situation?

Would you feel same way if one of the gaurds was someone you care about? From article, doesn't seem any prisoner got away-but sure LEO is checking area to be sure.
