Authorities say firefighters in southern New Jersey uncovered a cache of child pornography while battling flames in the home of an architecture professor.
Firefighters battling an Ocean County, N.J., blaze found something hidden within the home’s walls that put the owner in deep trouble with the law, according to New Jersey State Police.
Firefighters arrived Tuesday to the blaze on the 500 block of Dock Road in West Creek, Eagleswood Township to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof, authorities said.
As firefighters from at least five municipalities battled the blaze, they worked to make sure the fire wasn’t spreading so they began to pull back the sheet rock ceilings, according to state police.

As they did, child pornography materials fell down from the ceiling, cops said.
The homeowner, Gamal El-Zoghby, 75, was arrested and hit with child endangerment charges stemming from the porn discovery, according to police.
El-Zoghby, who is an architect listed as a professor at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., and reportedly designed the home, was processed and released, authorities said.
Police didn’t say how much child porn was found in the home.
The cause of the blaze remained under investigation as of Wednesday night.

If firemen hadn't found the porn, would that have been God's will too? We can thank God that this incident happened, but to attribute it to Him makes Him appear to be schizophrenic.

How 'bout, I'm smart enough on my own to realize that life generally goes better for everyone when everyone treats each other with respect, and no one tries to arbitrarily infringe on anyone else's equality. Look up Utilitarianism, for starters. It consistently amazes me how few god-botherers realize there are other systems of ethics besides "revealed truth" dogmas.

There is nothing in the article to suggest he raped or abused anyone. All it says is that child pornography was found. While I'm not defending possession of child pornography, let's not make more out of this than is currently known.

Don't make it more complicated than what it is. Fires happen every day. Firemen showed up to find he was using the child porn to insulate his walls. It's called "DISCOVERY"... It's an age old concept of being somewhere and finding things.

My first question would be "How do you know 'God' is a male?" Since "God" is the author of all life, It's extremely unlikely that "God" would be male since only females can give life. "God" is gender neutral at best.

I dont believe in GOD, so final judgement ISNT what keeps me in line. Love for humanity, respect for the people around me...and ultimately, a desire NOT to have anyone do those things to me IS what keeps me from being a monster, a monster you apparently WISH you could be, if GOD didnt exist.

If God exists he allowed two of my siblings to die in a car accident, my father to die when I was 9 and my husband to die at age 37 of a ruptured aortic aneurism leaving me pregnant with two sons, the eldest of whom God also made severely autistic... The old people you see entering church lived a charmed existance or are there "just in case" since they are old and know they could die soon.

According to most mainstream scientists time travel is certainly possible and does not go against einsteins theories and the laws of physics, if, and i stress if, it is accomplished within certain parameters, too many to list here. Now if a person used that ability to go back in time and bet on horseraces, he has in fact knowledge of the outcome, but he has not influenced it in any way, the same horse would win as long as he didnt interfere. Granted the race is a matter of chance, but the same holds true if he goes back and watches himself make certain choices, as long as he doesnt interfere, it is still his own free will.
For another point, as far as atheism with scientific beliefs go, it also is a faith based belief system. you are believing what someone else tells you, and accepting their conclusions without testing the evidence yourself. Unless you yourself run the tests, examine the evidence, study the data, and come to a conclusion yourself, you are putting your faith in what someone else tells you. this is no different than what a god believer does, he/she is accepting what someone else tells them and accepting their proof and their conclusions. So in essence atheists and christians are the same in that respect, they have faith in their own belief system.
If a person has a belief and uses it in a productive and peaceful manner, then they have the right to be respected, because so many god believers and atheists alike do not use it peacefully. Dont be one of the latter.
The article you are referring to is bogus. The references it makes were taken out of context and was printed by the Belfast Telegraph which is in Northern Ireland, and they hate Catholicism. The story was more than likely written by sectarian bigots.

Actually, it started out as GodDESS worship (of the Earth, our Mother) until the patriarchy decided to switch it to God for their own purposes. It's a shame, really, because in doing so, they introduced "fear of God" into the mix, which was never intended. Indeed, "God" is Love. Why would "God" want his (or her) children to be afraid of him/her? Fear is just a way of controlling the masses. One of my favorite quotes is from H. L. Not really. What you propose is called Pascal's wager - hedging your bets 'just in case' a logical absurdity truly is a reality.

Because NO RELIGIOUS DOCTRINE has been able to prove (or is capable of proving) itself as MORE LEGITIMATE than any other religious doctrine. So, in fact, they are all equally legitimate bets to make. People may try and fail to do so - but it's simply not possible. Everyone has a right to believe in the religion of their choice. Its based on "faith" and they link good events with "God". Its all part of the fantasy of God and Jesus. Most religions have one or more deities. There is a purpose for this belief. People like and need to belong to a group and this belief allays their fears of the unknown like death. That may be why they like to believe in an afterlife. If it harms no one, no problem. When any member of any religion becomes extreme in their beliefs, the possibility of harmful and unacceptable behavior becomes their reality. The idea of being the "chosen people" is annoying because its based on this fantasy. The LDS, Islamic sects, and many other Christian sects have this belief of setting themselves above the rest of the population. It may annoy and alienate others, but it is their right.

This is the problem with Christian logic. The first rule is that there is a God as he exists in the Bible. All other rules of history and science must therefore fit inside of this parameter that there is a God. Therefore, any science that dictates the earth is billions of years old is to be refuted because it doesn't fit within the parameter that there is a God. When the Christian's number one rule is disgarded (as it should be when dealing with logic, reason, facts...anything but the fantasy that it is) then science and history can be seen objectively. As long as rule number one exists there can only be "facts" based on faith...facts and faith, however, a contradictory in nature, and so we can only have one of these two things. I'll take facts and rest my body in a cold grave any day rather than believe in a fantasy that most people would find laughable if the religion were called by any other name.

Non religious people are no different that religious folks - we all believe in something as a result of our own inability to understand and make sense of something more complex. You think there is a god who is a father figure to humans, always looking out for them - I believe in a higher power that set motions into place and gave life a chance to evolve into what it is today.

um, you can marry at age 14 legally in certain states in the USA. i believe that is the youngest age for both persons. the law requires parental approval so yes a man of 40 can marry someone 14 if parents approve and so does the girl (a 40 year old woman isn't marrying a teen boy).

but the definition of a 16-18 year-old as being a "little girl" is actually something that is quite recent and doesn't really any real equivalent anywhere else in history. after all, prior to about the 1900s, it was not uncommon for marriages to occur as early as 14.
