Subscribe to RSSFederal immigration authorities have deported a 22-year-old woman from Ohio over the objections of activists who feared she could be suicidal if sent back to Mexico.
According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, Yanelli Hernandez was returned to Mexico on Tuesday. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said her removal was ordered by an immigration judge. She was in the country illegally and was convicted in Butler County on charges of driving under the influence and forgery.
Supporters said that, Hernandez, a factory worker, had attempted suicide twice, and immigration rights activists phoned federal offices this week to urge that she be allowed to stay.
An ICE letter denying her request to stay said there was no documentation to support claims that she faced hardships from longstanding mental illness.
Activist Marco Saaverda, an organizer with the Ohio chapter of DreamActivist.org and a friend of Hernandez’s, told the Enquirer he felt “extreme frustration. ... We will pursue all of the mental health concerns that this case has revealed.”
The woman had been in the United States since age 13. She had been living in the Cincinnati area for five years.
"She needs treatment and not to be deported to Mexico, where she knows nobody," Fernanda Marroquin, an organizer with DreamActivist Pennsylvania, told Philadelphia Daily News on Monday.

Dreamactivist.org is a collection of migrant activists who claim that life in the USA is so good that your mental health will suffer if you are forced to leave. This distinguishes them from the home-grown activists who claim that life here is so bad that the entire system must be changed immediately if we are to survive as humans.
good riddance, let the Mexican gov't deal with her. My hard earn taxes should go to worthy causes like breast cancer treatment and not to support some criminal. Thats the problem with these liberal politicians is that they don't take care of their own.
I like how illegals can adjust to life here but when they are sent back they can't adjust to living in Mexico. My advice is if you are illegal you better stay out of trouble.
No family, no friends in MEX. Same reason you don't go back to Wales, Scotland, Germany, etc.
Most of us don't go back to Wales, Scotland, Germany, etc. because our Great Grandparents immigrated to the U.S. legally 100 or so years ago.
I'm sure she has some family in Mexico. Unless three or four generations of probably very extended family have all moved here.
Ok one more illegal is sent back to her country of origin. She should be extremely pleased obviously her stay in the US led to 2 suicide attempts, crimes of forgery and DWI. Obviously the US was hazardous to her health - good riddance once less criminal in the United States to contend with.
Activists supporting a person arrested for a DUI and forgery? Seriously? Good riddance!

Sad sad day when we have activist supporting a criminal when we have so many hungry and suicidal people right here in our backyead. I am NOT saying saving a life is not worth it because you dont posses papers to be here, I am saying....If they would just put that energy into getting her green papers in order.

Why would we want a common criminal to stay? Don't we have enough of our own? Let Mexico keep their own criminals, thank you. They have mental health facilities.
Just because some one is here for 11 yrs dont make them legal. Im sick of this we should be rounding them up by the thousands and showing them we have no tolerance for illegal immagration. Instead we let 20 of them share a house and take our jobs because we cant live in that kind of situation. I cant even have company without my landlord asking are they living there. I raised 8 children and had a hell of a time finding housing for them it was always we cant have that many in our rental but i see houses with 6 or 7 vehicles outside and it looks like grand central station with the traffic flowing in and out.Its time for us to stand up and say enough is enough we want our country back.

Great you have a problem with Illegals taking your crappy jobs but probably have no problems when our good high paying jobs are sent to China, India and Mexico hell you probably have no problems with tax cuts for the rich! When you say you want your country back exactly which country are you talking about? Are you talking about going back to Europe and taking England, Ireland, Italy back? Last I checked your ancestors come from Europe. Great go back and if you need help getting "your country" back give me a holler. I'll see what I can do for you getting your "country back" as you say.

She and all her illegal friends are NOT our problem. She is now where she belongs ,back in the country she legally resides. And hopefully one day All her illegal friends can join her!
Cry me a river! I would have some sympathy on this woman if she had studied hard, got a degree and/or was an upstanding citizen, but we're talking about someone who already has convictions on DUI and forgery under her belt at the young age of 22.
We already have enough criminals and drunks of our own to deal with in this country, let alone one (of many) who doesn't even pay taxes. Send her butt back to Mexico!

The brazen and arrogant Ms. Marroquin, of Dream Activist PA, who walks around wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with "I am un-doc-u-mented" should be detained and deported. These illegal aliens who taunt law-abiding citizens are hellbent on turning our country into a clone of the lawless, violent, and corrupt third world countries they left behind before invading ours.
America is not a drop off spot for the cast offs of other countries, including Ms. Marroquin.
Close the border to Mexico now.
Deport all illegal aliens now.
Ban all illegal aliens from ever becoming a U.S. citizen.
Jealously protect our border to Mexico now.
Execute those smuggling drugs into the United States.
Make English the official language of the United States.
End all government benefits and programs for illegal aliens now, we can't afford it.
Allow the border patrol to return fire when under attack, even from across the border.
Detain illegal aliens who return illegally offshore on islands separated by gender for no less than 5 years, no visitation, no communication, no medical or dental unless life threatening illness should occur.
