An Indiana lawmaker blasts Girl Scouts as a "tactical arm of Planned Parenthood." WTHR's Kevin Rader reports.
There's an agenda behind those cookies the Girl Scouts sell, one bent on promoting communism, lesbianism and subverting "traditional American family values," according to an Indiana lawmaker.
That's the reason Rep. Bob Morris, a Republican representing Fort Wayne, insists he won't go along with a resolution meant to honor the Girls Scouts on the organization's 100th anniversary.
Morris owns a chain of nutrition stores, but it's not the fat and sugar in Girl Scout cookies that have him riled up.
"After talking to some well-informed constituents, I did a small amount of Web-based research, and what I found is disturbing," Morris wrote Saturday to Republican House colleagues in a letter obtained by the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.
Morris alleged that the Girl Scouts of the United States of America and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts "have entered into a close strategic affiliation with Planned Parenthood," which he claimed is trying to "sexualiz(e) young girls through the Girl Scouts."
Even worse, he wrote, only three of the 50 role models promoted by the Girl Scouts have even "a briefly-mentioned religious background."
"All the rest are feminists, lesbians, or Communists," he wrote.

State of Indiana
Indiana state Rep. Bob Morris, R-Fort Wayne, accuses the Girl Scouts of celebrating feminists, lesbians and communists.
As proof, Morris notes that the "radically pro-abortion" Michelle Obama is honorary president of Girl Scouts of America, which "should give each of us reason to pause before our individual or collective endorsement of the organization."
After learning all this, he wrote, he pulled his two daughters out of the Girl Scouts and instead put them in American Heritage Girls Little Flowers, a parent-run group best described as a center for recovering Girl Scouts.
Michelle Tompkins, a spokeswoman for the Girl Scouts, responded to Morris' assertions by telling NBC station WISE of Fort Wayne, "Not only is Rep. Morris off the mark on his claims, it's also unfortunate in his limited research that he failed to discover that, since 1917, every first lady has served as the honorary leader of Girl Scouts, including Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush and Laura Bush."
"We believe that leadership is about hearing from all sides of an issue before making up one's mind," Tompkins said. "We only wish we had the chance to speak with the freshman representative before he distributed his letter."
For its part, Planned Parenthood of Indiana called Morris' comments "inflammatory, misleading, woefully inaccurate and harmful," saying he'd insulted not only it but also the Girl Scouts and Obama.
"Planned Parenthood currently has no formal partnership with the Girl Scouts, but supports their mission and recognizes their century of contributions to our society," the organization said in a statement to NBC station WTHR of Indianapolis.

This guy is an idiot. I guess if you are too impotent to fix your states' real problems you have to make up imaginery ones.
He basically just punched his ticket for another term, considering the idiots in Indiana that love their conservatives extremely radical.
Even most righties have to shake their heads at this guy.
"After talking to some well-informed constituents, I did a small amount of Web-based research, and what I found is disturbing,"
You mean after you talked with your housewife sister-in-law, who never graduated jr. high? You mean you researched the first 5 things that came up on the FauX News website?
Both my girls were in Girl Scouts..... there was NEVER any mention of sex/sexual preferences or abortion/abortion rights. I was a Daisy leader at one time for my youngest daughter and attended my older daughter's scout meetings off and on like the other parents. Perhaps they do things differently in Indiana?
I am sorry, but this is what popped in my head while reading the article once I hit the web base research part and beyond.
My thoughts: "This mother-Effer is crazy!"
I swear to god our reps has nothing better to do with their time.
Does this nonsense EVER STOP??? When did the far right start taking over people's minds? Oh, my bad - that would imply they had minds to begin with!
This guy is an idiot. There are many girl scouts troops in the area where this man governs. I was one of them. Scouting offered a wonderful way for me to learn the basics of outdoor survival, budget management, and independence. We swam and learned basic first aid without worrying about boys. I was a scout until 11 th grade and I often volunteered to help with brownies. The scouts were a wonderful "get away" once a week for girls that came from broken homes too. We would cook together once a week and eat dinner while discussing our next "mission" It was also a nice event where my mom and I could have mother-daughter time.
I use many of the skills I learned in scouting to rasie my four children. BTW Governor My 6'3 United States Marine husband would take you to task if you were caught saying any of this crazy stuff about my upbringing to my face.
You sorry fool, too bad you hide behind a microphone and lies.
( Off the subject : girlscouts need to stick to their committment of not using palm oil in their cookies--jsut google it)
The guy looks like a pinhead. STFU and buy some cookies.
Yep, he's just another white guy telling women what's what....lovely....take a number, AHOLE....
BTW: I was always taught that the real definition of feminism was "equal pay for equal work protected under law" (regardless of of what sex-organs one has). As I remember there are several different wings of feminism but I think the basic definition we can all agree on is appropriate for the 21st century.
Womens rights to liberty and justice should be protected under law---is this guy suggesting we follow the muslim countries and treat women like property???? TALK ABOUT UN-freakin-AMERICAN. I think many of us mid-western feminist would make you pry our guns out of our cold dead fingers before we would allow you to take our rights to justice away from us!
I just can't imagine what the thinks of the Boy Scouts!!!
Is there some kind of global 'dummining' going on. Was Lisa Simpson right after all?
Oh, dear. There just seems to be no end of Republicans saying things most Americans find backward and insulting. Are they trying to run themselves out of govt? It's a shame because the (reasonably) conservative viewpoint can contribute a lot to formulating responsible policies, but not if this guy's any representation.
(Translation: This guy's not doing the GOP any favors.)
Good for MSNBC...... finding anothre loonie......I am myself a conservative, this guys is a LOONIE!!!!! Not for his thoughts, but for him saying it....
American Heritage Girls little Flowers? And this is not Hitler Youth how?
Has the whole world gone crazy? Did I fall down a rabbit hole to the Twilight Zone??? Everywhere I look people are trying to drag us (especially women) back to the 15th century. Does he want girls uneducated with no say in what happens to their bodies or any chance for anything in life but to be a man's property? Does he want them dragged to the church of the man's choice, forced to bring several kids into the world no matter what the circumstances or how many they can care for? Does he want girls locked up to work in factories or women to die from preventable diseases?
Oh yes...apparently so. How about you work on what you are supposed to be doing, fella? How about you work on jobs (getting them going...not stopping them) instead of worrying about the Girl Scouts not following your religious agenda?
I mean seriously...why on earth would the GIRL Scouts (you know, GIRL Scouts) support educating, empowering, and supporting girls and women? Silly me...I would have thought that would be a good thing, but seems Morris has talked to his smart friends and done a "little" web research and decided that he wants all girls to follow "his" values. I would say girls and women have been treated like property for much of history, and now that we can vote, drink, make decisions for ourselves, and be educated, use birth control and get treatment for diseases it's obviously threatening to some groups.
Well, yes, I am educated, I used birth control when I needed it and don't apologize to anyone for it since it is no one's business, I make my own health decisions, and when my twin daughters were born I told them they were fortunate to grow up in a time when women have opportunities and rights in this country. I told them they could choose how their lives will go and what they want to be, and that we would teach them to be caring, respectful, and responsible women who could speak up and forge a life they wanted. I looked at little babies in incubators and could see them as strong young women who were smart and healthy.
I didn't see them as anyone's property and this man represents those who want to take all those opportunities and choices from them. They have values and are wonderful, smart, kind, and funny children who deserve to be treated with respect and given the same dignity as my son is as a man.
Morris, you go run your family as you wish within the law and let everyone else do the same. If a person doesn't like Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts fine, but saying they shouldn't get recognition for supporting girls and women is petty and nasty.
It must be true! It's on the interwebs!
I don't have a comment on this post, just a question for whomever is monitoring it for the vine.
I recently got suspended for a week for referring to some guy mentioned in an article as a jackass. So far on this thread, lefties have called this lawmaker an idiot, pinhead, and mother effer... among other things. My question: are they going to get a week long suspension also, or is there a separate set of rules just for us conservatives?
kenjotay- that's code for 'future barefoot and pregnant housewives of america'
Actually there was a time when Planned Parenthood partnered with Girl Scouts back in 2004. It was in Texas and a few of the troops withdrew because of it. It would make sense that now, that it might still be going on. For all of you who think that Rep. Bob Morris is crazy, just shows that you don't know your history as well as you think you do. I suggest you do a little more research before you speak.
This doesn't have anything to do with women's rights like the liberal media wants to pretend it is. This has to do with protecting our children from sexualization. It has been rumored that PP had handed out that pamphlet " Healthy, Happy, Hot" to girl scouts back in 2010. As of yet, I don't know if it is true.
where has he been under a rock. girl scouts i was one and i am not a lesbian or a communist, i learned alot of useful tools with getting those merit badges, how come he did not blast the boy scouts, their the ones who have had pedophioles among their ranks. is he jealous because he could not be a girl scout maybe we need to check his gender, maybe he is gay and a communist himself people who live in glass houses should not throw stones
spide, I was suspended about a month back for referring to a conservative as a "moron". In that thread my comments were pretty benign.
The moderators are overwhelmed, and rely upon infrequent and sporadic enforcement of their code in order to provide the perception that they are an authority. I have not noticed a bias, but rather an extreme randomness to their actions.
Very amusing argument over "family values" considering the fact that Ft Wayne leads the nation in strip clubs per capita.
Is this some kind of planned GOP meltdown?
Women should be rioting... at least the women I know should be.
Probably his girls failed to sell any cookies and can't earn any reward badges so he end up eating them. Gotta wait what he will call the Boys Scout next after he consulted his "well informed constituents", family members. Poor ole Bob has to rant
Hey spider:
You get suspended for talking about another poster, (or their mom) not for talking about the article.
unhappy: no wonder you're unhappy...what a world you inhabit. Scared of little 10 and 12 year old girls? DON'T know if it's true, but I'll spread any vile rumor someone tells me???No WONDER you're so afraid of the grownup kind...
"On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
The Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout."
I was a Girl Scout growing up and later became a leader to my daughters' troops as they grew up (over 30 years total). I have never heard such stupid ideas about this organization! My daughters have grown up to raise their families and are professional working mothers.
Girl Scout promise (which I recited many times)--and which Murphy beat me to posting:
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
I added the emphasis. This gentleman has an odd idea of what constitutes "religious." Simply because a person actually believes that women do not have to be submissive to men (which is his religion, apparently), it does not make the given person "anti-religious." The very first entity mentioned in the promise which is recited at each meeting is "God." I fail to see how this is anti-religious.
Still, the whole dominant/submissive, male/female that is so endemic in the religion of this particular gentleman makes me queasy. It kind of explains why so many leaders of that particular faction of Christianity like to "marry" girls in their early teens.
I think the guy is just looking for some attention--it's the old thing about saying anything you want, but be sure to spell his name right. It gets him the attention he wants from his voters--kind of sad that it would.
We should follow the 'Family Values' of the Republican Party, right? Let's start with Newt, Ensign, Vitter, Craig, Sanford, etc... Are those the Family Values we should emulate?
Mr. Morris is the one of the reasons why kids born here in Indiana go to college in Indiana then they leave in large numbers. If it wasn't for people fleeing the high taxes of surrounding states Indiana would actually be loosing population. It is also the reason the population of Indiana is getting much older. It is why jobs pay so much less in Indiana as they do in surrounding states for the same work. Keep it up GOP Indiana is well on it's way to join Mississippi and Kentucky as laughing stocks in the US.
Spider-
1. If they do get suspended, I doubt anybody will know of it. Did they broadcast that you were suspended? It's possible they have already been suspended and your point rendered moot.
2. It's also possible that there was a difference in context with how the word was used in terms of applying it to a bannable offense. Since I didn't see what you posted and you didn't repost the content( as you obviusly wouldn't for fear of getting suspended again), it's hard to compare the circumstances.
3. Regardless of whether there might or might not be a double starndard being employed, I fail to see how you can assume that the persons using the words "idiot, pinhead, and mother effer" are not conservatives as you imply by the use of the phrase "rules just for us conservatives?" You cannot know that they're NOT conservatative. If they are, then your question is self-defeated. Do you have personal knowledge of the posters that would cause you to know they AREN'T conservative?
Finally, I'd simply ask: Do you, or do you not, agree that this lawmaker is off-base and out of line with the comment about the Girl Scouts? If you agree with the rest of us that this is the case, then why not at least say so as you claim to be a victim of the left?
I can't help but comment on the Republican trend of claiming to be the victims. It's become a cry of helplessness. I'd say to the righties of the world.... grow a pair and accept the consequences of your actions. When you treat people with disregard and disdain, don't expect them to play nicey nice. Even our president is finally tired of doing so.
Spider I'm a liber. I got hit so don't think its only conserv. how get hit.
LMarcT - watching the GOP right now is a lot like watching a celebrity drug addict crash. You know it's coming, but they don't seem to.
I guess we could follow the family values of the Democrats. Let's start with Edwards, Clinton, Kennedy (all of 'em), etc. It goes both ways. This guy's a nut no matter the letter after his name.
why are girls and women constantly attacked ??? I am so sick of it and women and young girls should be appalled . Morris just cause you want women to be slaves to men does not mean it is going to happen. another republican nut!!! this is down right persercussion and the girl scouts should sue for slander. I was a girl scout too, I never saw any behavior he is talking about . He is... he is scarey and yet a bunch of folks voted for him. are they still backing him. whats next round up all the women and girls and put them away ?? Beat them into sumission and brain wash them into thinking they are nothing and deseve all that is being done to them . what happened to these men? why do say these things ? I think they are just perverted. But seriously why is he so scared of women .
spider-737231
FYI. I get suspended just as much as you... I think it's just a matter of them seeing it and how often and to what degree you do it. You could change your ways and see if you don't get suspended...
Why do these people believe they have the corner market on determining what is "family values"? These GOP politicians need to seriously spend less time in our bedrooms and more time questioning the values of the corporate interests they try so hard to protect.
AP: Grow up! If you didn't know the facts, then I suggest you not comment. Whenever liberals think they know something and then spout their mouths off, without doing the research, it just shows you how much dumber you are becoming.
RAM,
You mean like Charlie Sheen? I have to agree. We need to Roast the GOP on Comedy Central, that would be an hour of quality comedy right there.
The main focus of this guy - who nobody ever heard of - is getting reelected. Look at the amount of attention he's getting by writing his ignorant letter. There are those who will choose not to think for themselves, but to just agree with his comments. He's hoping they're voters in his district. Fool.
This guy is off his rocker!!! That is about all that needs to be said.
AP: Here is what MSNBC wrote back in 2004. This is a reminder for all you people who won't look that far back.
Just a little excerpt:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4441006/ns/news/t/girl-scout-cookies-troops-crumble-texas/
Why is this even a national news article? A state rep from Indiana has some idiotic beliefs. Definitely worth making the national news. Oh wait, this is MSNBC and the idiot is a Republican. Just another fluff story to rile up the left and try to paint all Republicans and converatives as dim witted and idiotic. I'm sorry, but the majority of Republicans will not an do not see the Girl Scouts in this light.
He's been sniffing glue too much and his brain has melted. I can't believe that so many men are so frightened of women that they feel they must control them. We fought for our rights and we will not give them away to stupid jerks.
Some times a person can be their own worst enemy and this guy proves it, and as far as Politicians go, their all a bunch of MORONS there is no real party lines on stupid ............
He’s a D!CK!
Or a LAWYER!!!!!!!!!
Whoops, one in the same……………………… My bad!
Really, Republicans? REALLY?
What a fool. What the hell is wrong with this country? The internet is the worse thing that could have happened to the U.S. because now those of us, here and abroad, who didn't realize that there are so many stupid, useless people in this country are now painfully aware of it and it's sickening as well as embarrassing.
Actually, it seems to me that the Democrats tend to get caught in more "normal" fooling-around situations - you know, one guy and one consenting adult girl.
Unlike the Republicans, whose repressed sense of sexuality breaks out in all sorts of unexpected ways.
A la Larry Craig, Tom Foley, David Vitter, John Ensign, etc.
This lack witted sour faced moron is a total embarrassment to Indiana, Fort Wayne, his voters and his family. Trust me, right now, you should hear the shouts of hysterical laughter aimed at him in Indiana. He is one of those pompous idiots who wants to continue to live in Pleasantville (see the movie!) where the women are servants of the men. While he and his ilk think it is a great way to live, back in the early 50's the vast majority gave that up a very long time ago. People realized that was a horrible way to live and totally oppressive to just about everyone except little men. I feel so sorry for his wife and children but at least he and Franky Graham on his side! Pathetic wankers!
His Thin Mints must have been stale and this is way to get revenge. What a nut!
I'm sure he loves the Boy Scouts. Don't forget, they went all the way to the Supreme Court to argue that, as a private organization, they had the right to discriminate against gays. They won. The irony is that now they're officially declared a private organization, they get upset when cities kick them off public property that they had been using rent-free for meetings, camp outs, etc.... They can't have it both ways: A private, limited-membership club AND an institution that operates in the public interest that deserves public funding.
I live in Indiana, and I have to apologize for this idiot. Not all of us are like this. Really!
Not an idiot, a monster.
Aww, he's just pissed off because none of the girl scouts will date him.
Holy Crap, they're doubling down on straight up stupid!!!!!
Garrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!
That's it, I'm taking the Aspirin out from between my knees and swallowing that sucker. It'll work way better and make it easier to walk, that way.
And I'm typing in bold, because THAT's how crazy this is getting!
Bat @!$%# crazy, it's not just for michele bachman anymore.
Well at least we finally know what became of the banjo-playing kid in "Deliverance".
The representative is correct.Like so many "mainstream" organizations in America today, the Girl Scouts have become infested with a disturbing, bigoted far left mentality that is dangerous to common sense and traditional American values. They can take those cookies and stick'em....
Which is more frightening? This guy? Or the fact that he got elected?
By the way, I would like to point out that his facial expression and scary crew cut identify him as misogynist, gay and a Nazi. How come pretend Christians (meaning the cult fanatics who listen to his spew) aren't up in arms about this?
I mean, if ever there was a time to drop the F-bomb in a tone of disbelief, it would be now.
My confusion is actually driven in a different direction.....HOW did this wizard get elected in the first place??
So much hate, so little time!
Sarah....I'm thinking that these people (the republicans) must meet in secret every week to see which one of them is going to say the next stupid thing, then let it loose on the American public to see what type of reaction they get so they can help identify their base. I'm really not sure what group they are going for on this one, but good luck against all the late night comedians with such an idiotic comment.
Steve,
Dude, we're already popping the popcorn over here. Bring on Jon Stewart!!! Of course, I'm the one that has to pop the popcorn. Barefoot. While pregnant. In my kitchen. But, anyhoo... Daily Show, here I come.
It's like, "I'll see your forced trans-vaginal ultrasound, and raise you the sexualization of the girl scouts. How do you like them, cookies, sucker??? Go big, or go home!"
F-ing, batsh($*
Sarah....on behalf of my gender, my most humble apologies, even though I personally have nothing to apologize for, as I think that just about every word that spews from the mouths of those moronic people is detrimental to your gender, but speaks volumes about how stupid my gender can be. How do these idiots continue to garner the kind of attention that they are getting?
As much as I am looking forward to Jon Stewart tonight, I'm more anxious to see Bill Maher on Friday night!
DonInPhnx
They DO announce very publicly when someone is reprimanded. Anything from a warning to a 1 day to a week, month or permanent suspension. The code of conduct is related to other posters.... We can generally call the subject of the article anything short of a profanity, just not our co posters. As someone has mentioned... the moderators are spread thin and appear randomly. Fairly sure there is some robo crawler that helps them but doesn't catch it all.
I think they misspelled his name. It's Boob Morris, not Bob Morris.
You know it's an idiocracy when someone like Boob gets elected to public office. Since he's so concerned about the Girl Scouts sexualizing young girls, I have to ask this question: Boob, do you have a plan for making "honest women" out of them? I also have to ask another question: would you trust Boob Morris alone with an 8 year old girl? Does anyone out there know how many trips to Bangkok this clown has made?
If you've ever wondered what happens when a Darwin Award Hall of Famer lives to tell about it, just look at Boob Morris. On that note, Boob Morris should make the greatest contribution to the gene pool he could ever make: remove himself from it.
I didn't know that Girl scouts are homosexual and communists, every time they have cookies sale my wife always support them. I better tell my wife not support these homosexual commie girls anymore. We'll just go join church and see what god have say about that.
Thanks Indiana for the laugh. You guys rock HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Indiana was where, around a century ago, the state legislature declared that pi is equal to 3. Plus, wasn't Dan Quayle from Indiana?
WTF? Really? Well, first of all this crazy inbred bastard hates women. Number two. I live in Indiana for the time being. Once I get my degree I am so outta here it's not funny. I will never EVER come back to visit or pass through the midwest ever again. I will drive, walk, crawl around it either by way of Canada or Mexico. When they say they grow giant vegetables in the midwest this guy is what they are really talking about. He needs a lobotomy stat! Maybe he's upset the Girl Scouts won't give him free cookies. Whatever is up his ass, this freak needs to be voted out of office.
I don't care who's running against this loon, I'm going to find out and contribute to the campaign to throw him out of office.
Bottom line is even if we don't live in the areas that these lunatics represent, we need to take the same approach that the big wigs like the Koch brothers take. Put up some money to get rid of these idiots. Indiana is full of jokers like this and more than half the population doesn't have a clue. Most of them are working their butts off just to put food on the table because the wages in the State are miserable and they just passed RTW on top of it. Unfortunately, these people get their "news" listening to right wing radio on their way back and forth to work or in church on Sundays.
States like Indiana have a lot of small cheap TV and radio markets, except for the region near Chicago, and Cincinnati to a lesser extent. Money backed Republicans can flood the TV market with their adds for relatively low expenditure. The local citizens are brainwashed. These are people who work hard, get nowhere and vote based on emotional issues, not even being aware of what is best for them. This is how the money back Republicans have taken control of these areas.
Steve,
I uncecessary apology is accepted and appreciated. :)
Good Heavens. I never realized that I was a communist back when I was 11 yrs old.
Comment # 2 restored for clarity.
Leaving many comments collapsed for trolling an entire political group, state, etc.
He's got to be a Teabagger,,and Idiot !
I feel bad for his kids.
Betch' he is gay. Typical GOP gay-basher. Turns out he is overcompensating. "I think thou dost protest too much". Next stop: an airport bathroom.
"There's an agenda behind those cookies the Girl Scouts sell, one bent on promoting communism, lesbianism and subverting 'traditional American family values,' according to an Indiana lawmaker."
Well, you've got to admit that there's no lesbianism in the Boy Scouts.
No, but the boys cookies are fudge packed unfortunately.
Ah yes, another educated comment from Bistol. Considering your obsession with "fudge-packing", you might be a closet homosexual.
Just saying.
Sorry, I'll leave that to your kind...
My kind? What kind is that?
Protip: You may need professional help. Is it dark in your closet?
Actually, it's possible. They let girls in the Boy Scouts now! (Sorry, couldn't resist)
Perhaps there is no lesbianism in Boy Scouts but one has to wonder exactly what kind of "Family Values" the current group of Boy Scouts are promoting when they teach and promote bigotry and intolerance for "other" while expecting kudos for good deeds. Some kind of character that is!
Bristol,,
You need to change your picture,, you look like a homeless guy who just realized that he's pooped his pants.
Really dude, try a different photo.
Boy scouts had their calling out. the different between the boy scouts is things was happening.
Wait a minute, everybody. This angry little troll might be on to something.I bought a box of Thin Mints over the weekend and I'd swear that right after eating them I started having the strangest most femi-commie thoughts. It took a while before I remembered that I should be humming about the kitchen fixing dinner for Mr. Right and being seen and not heard!
I don't know about that I was a boy scout and I feel like I am a lesbian trapped in a mans body.
As the US continues to fight the external threat of radical fundamentalist Islamic terrorism all around the world, it is becoming abundantly clear that a much greater threat to our country's freedom and liberty is posed by the internal threat of radical fundamentalist Christians, getting elected to public office.
This man is a perfect example of what is ahead if right wing Christian fundamentalism slithers its way into positions of governance over our lives and public institutions in the US.
They truly scare me, and I'm a Christian!
I almost laughed at this -- it sounds so much like that ironic bumper sticker that goes something like "Sorry I missed church but I was busy being a communist lesbian wiccan." I say almost laughed. Dude's too scary.
Seriously Robert. It's like they are trying to prove they can out-crazy the terrorists. Someone should tell them it's not a competition.
@ Robert in Oregon: This "Morris" person is a classic example of an "insane" elected official. We,ve always had some, but they are getting way too common. By the way, the Girl Scouts are a fine organization.
"Lawmaker: 'Radical' Girl Scouts out to destroy 'American family values'"
And radical lawmakers aren't? Sounds like these boys don't have anything better to do with their time. How about going after the corrupt bankers and politicians and not the Girl Scouts, or is that way over your heads? Maybe we need to start with the lawmakers.
Strange....I thought "spur of the moment" comments about something to create controversy, in this case the Girl Scouts, would be left to Mrs. Pelosi since she is so gooood at twisting everything around to the point no-one knows what she is talking about.
We haven't heard from Mrs. Pelosi in a while. She must be busy "helping" the East Wing of the White House with all that MEDIA MATTERS stuff.
I suppose Rep. Bob Morris, R-Fort Wayne, might be up for re-election. Wait a minute....creating distance with his voter base is NOT a good thing. He might be changing his political party to Independent after this and taking pointers from Mr. Obama.
A very, very small amount of research, obviously. Another victim of poor google skills. I wonder about people like this. Have you ever noticed that the people that yell the most about some social evil are usually themselves in it up to their neck? Maybe Morris is a closet Communist, or just flat gay.
I think I'll keep buying their cookies. If little girls come around with flowers, however, I think I will leave the door shut, because I don't want the values of the Catholic Church shoved down my throat with money donated to a group that's apparently been set up to fund the radical Right's planet Mars agenda.
Radical!! You naive- educated- liberally brainwashed- edumocated self righteous- don't know you are socialist-communist sympathizing Democrat douche bags, need to realize that you are the Radicals and nutty fruitloop imbeciles. It's you who are the party of circus freaks and clowns. Republicans are traditionalists! You college educated liberal androids! How is tradition radical? How is traditional American values nutty? Those traditions are what made America the most powerful country in world history. Liberal democrats are the ones constantly tearing down American tradition. Someone who breaks from tradition is radical by college definition. Did you not graumacate from Skool. Wake up!
Representative Morris is way off base. First of all, I worked for the Girls Scouts of America. The mission of the Girl Scouts is "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place." It is a great place for girls/teens to find themselves. Anyone who works for the Girl Scouts or volunteers for the Girl Scouts (including parents) has to successfully complete a background check to assure that participants are safe. The Girls Scouts do not discrimate against life styles of their volunteers or staff members. You do not have to be a Christian to have a good moral code - in fact I know of some Christians that have done some pretty underhanded things - so "being a Christian" does not autimatically make you a "good person". I worked for another youth organization. A mom of one of the youth had offered to be a chaperone. This mom was openly gay. Another parent called me and said, my daughter will not be attending if "so and so" is chaperoning. I said that is her choice, but I didn't understand what her concerns were. She actually said that she didn't want her daughter to see two women having sex. I told her that I didn't want her daughter to see two adults having sex and that regardless if volunteers are homosexual or heterosexual, they are not permitted to have sex in front of the youth! Good Grief - I think that many people think that people who are gay are pre-occupied with sex - and that is not at all true. They live perfectly normal lives. I don't know what that is so hard for people to comprehend. I know of a number of couples and it seems perfectly natural for them to be together.
As far as the communist comment - that is crazy. I am also always concerned when parents think that an organization has the power to destroy their families values. The family still has the most influence on their children - organizations like Girl Scouts, 4-H and other extra curricular activities help enhance children's lives but that moral compass or base should come from home - and these organizations - reinforce those values. With our country having so many religions it is important to include all youth in organizations and not bring religion in to the teaching part, but instead teach the golden rule, good manners, common courtesy and good ethics & morals. All of these should be started at home and again reinforced at home.
Well I have ranted enough - I hope that the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood fights back - I am so tired of them questioning Michelle Obama's credibility. In my opinion, she has been one of the most effective role models for children and women in the past 30 years in terms of First Ladies. She is fresh, intelligent, a good mother, health conscious (she doesn't just talk the talk, she actually walks the walks - she is genuinly concerned about Miltary families and works hard to raise awareness of the issues that she is passionate about. She also has a great sense of human. Ok - I have shared enough.
Take care.
My daughter was kicked out of the girl scouts by the adult leaders because she was a Christian and was praying. As crazy as that sounds it is true. She got along great with the kids but was told they couldn't have her because they were not that type of orginization anymore. I contacted the main office they said that they would try to find another troop for her but the leaders were correct they are not the same girl scouts as they use to be. Though there are troop leaders out there that do still use the traditional values of the old girl scouts. The statements that the man gave our correct they have had major court battles over it. That is why so many people have taken their kids out. It's strangely sad but its all true.
Whet we have here with Bob is a severe case of "wee winkie rage"- there aren't enough Thin Mints in the world to fix that little problem!
@Bob
wow! step back and read what you wrote with a cool head! Name calling?? Really?? America became the most powerful country in the world for a variety of reasons, and our country started with people trying to not just accept the status quo - many traditions are good, some are not, but they're value is not based on the fact that they are traditions. Hopefully we will remain innovative, questioning, and challenge the status quo - so that as we know better, we do better. That is never accomplished through being verbally abusive to others.
Which traditions are being torn down? Those of denying women and minorities the right to vote? Or counting black people as 2/5 of a white man? Or how about a nation governed and judged by white men? Or lynchings? Or race-based killings? Sexual harassment and paying women 70 cents to every dollar men earn for the same job. All American traditions. According to your rant, those should be retained - because you do speak of Republicans being traditionalists. There are many, many people who find these and other "traditions" abhorrent. So, if breaking tradition is radical, count me in. By the way, Jesus was a radical...still is.
While we're on the subject, buying Girl Scout cookies IS an American tradition. So, by your "college definition" of radical, that makes Bob Morris the evil radical.
Perhaps instead of denigrating the educated, you should spend your time pursuing higher learning because your uneducated viewpoint does not seem to be serving you very well.
Here is what MSNBC wrote back in 2004. This is a reminder for all you people who won't look that far back. Remember at one point in time, Planned Parenthood and Girl Scouts did partner up in spite of what liberals like to say. Honestly, I don't think Rep. Bob Morris is that crazy.
Just a little excerpt:

Richmond - I was a Girl Scout and Cadet back in the 60s, backwater Ohio, and we NEVER sat around praying. Maybe if the troop was run by some homeschool ninny we would have, but it was not about religion.
Unhappy - did you read the whole article? ...."In an editorial in Friday’s Waco Tribune-Herald, Pam Smallwood, the Planned Parenthood of Central Texas executive director who was honored by the Girl Scouts last year, complained that Girl Scouts had thereby demonstrated that “bullying tactics are more effective than an informed democracy....The Waco-area Girl Scout organization has been putting its name and logo on brochures for the Planned Parenthood sex-education programs but said it does not contribute any money and does not send girls to attend." ...
Lucky for PP in 2012, Komen's bullying backfired on them.
I knew he was a Republican as soon as I started reading the article hahhaha
These people are getting just a little bit too scary. This must be like some form of the flu....one gets it and passes it along to another.
Maybe this is just the republican way to get your name floating around. Bad attention is better than no attention.
Thank you, Dana! I come from a family full of youth organization members. My mom was a Girl Scout, my Dad was a Boy Scout and continued as a Scout Leader when my brother expressed his interest, and he also got involved with 4-H when I joined and spent all the allowed years from age 9-19 learning to become a confident, responsible, organized young woman with skills that I carried to my college years and my first secretary jobs. These organizations did so much for my brother and I, giving us skills and experiences that we might not have gotten from our daily school curriculum. I have skills that young women just a couple years younger than me do not have because their parents don't get them involved in something so wholly positive and educational. I learned how to take responsibility for my finances, what it takes to backpack 50 miles in high country in a week and the skills to keep me alive should some danger befall me, I can organize, lead a group of people, delegate, work with others. What are teens nowadays doing? Texting their friends all day long and worrying about how others see them. Lawmakers (even the radical ones) should be promoting these organizations, knowing there's a place for every teen to have some additional education and values in a day and age when both parents are working 60 hour work weeks and can't spend as much time with their kids as they'd like. This guy is completely hair-brained. I agree that there should be a handful of measures in place where homosexual adult volunteers are involved, but he's way off base. If he's going to "protect" his girls from such wholesome activities, I kind of feel sorry for them and what they're going to miss out on.
I was a Girl Scout leader for almost ten years while my daughter was in the Girl Scouts. Never did I attend a training meeting that told us that we needed to teach these ideas. We were always instructed that each girl was and individual and that we were there to encourage her to reach out and learn about the world and herself so that she was able to make her own mind up about situations. The only time we ran into a prayer issues was a new leader said "we sing the blessing at my house, can we do that her?" and my daughter who is the poster child for Type A personality told her "we are not allowed to sing at the table."
I knew the "Lawmaker" had to be a Republican. The GOP attacks on women and now, little girls, continues.
unhappy, here's another excerpt from that 2004 MSNBC story:
So, take your kids out if you don't like the way the Girl Scouts offer sex eduction to young girls; let 'em stay ignorant and get ready to be raising your unexpected grand kid.
Ruken, I'd bang Bristol, Bob-4554804, you are all suspended for a week for violating rule # 1 of the Code of Honor.
Bob is gay.
Bob Morris? I wonder when he'll be caught cruising a local park for a little action while his wife is volunteering at the faux girl scouts troop?
No. Bob is homosexual. Bob will be gay when he finds his way out of the closet. Right now he's in so deep he's waaaaaay on the other side of Narnia.
I never would`ve known that, Bob. Thanks!
Just wrote a check to GSA on your behalf;)
It does seem GOP=tea bagger=absolute idiot! They must pimp their wives and kids to make money. They are the most notorious, "Do as I say, not as I do people."
Because the first lady supports an organization he's against it? This guy is so blinded by his ideology I'm wondering how he could work with anyone to achieve anything. Just more divisive talk from someone that accomplishes nothing. And "communists"? Is this the red scare in the 50's?
I'd bet that right now "communists" have a higher approval rating than Congress.
I'll just finish that these GOP morons have no shame. Last year they were vilifying public workers (fireman, police, teachers, etc), now the Girl Scouts. Anything for the GOP politicians to deflect the public's attention from how they are helping the wealthy bankrupt our country and destroying the middle class.
Is anybody getting seriously scared yet about this level of off the hook ridiculous rhetoric? If not you should be.
It petrifies me.
Is this guy any relation to Santorum or the Grinch ?
Why is fear always the go to emotion for people? You should not be afraid you should be angry and fight back against this obviously extreme polarization of the Right. They will get theirs eventually come election time if they continue alienating everyone in their party that matters (tea party doesn't matter, they do not have enough voters to out vote independents).
November is going to be interesting, there may be 120 million exploding heads.
Well, it is a proven fact they support Planned Parenthood and many Christians object to the abortions provided by that organization. Personally, I will NOT buy Girl Scout cookies because of that proven fact. I do agree with "Bob", unlike so many here. Good for him!
Linda,
I would enjoy reading your sources regarding "Well, it is a proven fact....". And Faux noise does not count.
Linda M:
Show me. Prove it. There is absolutely no evidence anywhere, except that one little bit about that one troop in Texas.
But that's ok. I'll eat your cookies.
Anyone else getting tired of selling shet for their kids clubs, sports, schools etc. etc.
Why don't they just cut out the middle man and charge us up front for what these clubs & sports cost?
As a friend of mine pointed out. "Can anyone BE this stupid? They have to be aware that they are brewing a firestorm here. What do they know that we don't know? " I really think they are bone stupid, BUT maybe they are not. THAT'S what scares the *bleep* out of me.
Linda - I guess you can buy anything you want as it is your money - I for one do not buy Domino Pizza because their CEO donates and supports to anti-abortion groups
Plus their pizza stinks
Flea & Tbagger, they're raising money for their clubs so you don't to automatically HAVE to hand it over and they're trying to teach kids lessons about money and finances-if you want to pay for something, you've got to put a little work in. Guess you don't teach your kids that and buy them everything they want for Christmas, huh? I wonder how they're going to turn out as expectant, self important adults.
Santorum is probably terrified that this guy is going to enter the race and take the nomination away from him.
Either that or he wants him for a running mate.
I can just imagine the November eletion for GOP if Rick Sanitarium and this dickhead are running against Barack O. Santorium acts like he isn't aware that women actually make up \more than half the electorate. And not a one is "for" H IS AND THIS CREEPS BRAND OF anti-feminism.
Lil' Debbie - Plus Santorum is a fake as far as blue collar workers go He comes from a family of privilege
Rick Santorum is the middle of the three children of Aldo Santorum
(1923–2011), a clinical psychologist who immigrated to the
United States at age seven from Riva
del Garda, Italy,[15]
and Catherine (Dughi) Santorum (1918–), an administrative nurse[15][16][17]
of Italian American and Irish
American descent.[18]
Per Wickipedia
If the Girl Scouts are working with Planned Parenthood, I want to know where I can buy more cookies! Equality for all! Screw what USED to be traditional family values.
Hmm. So in other words, he thinks they're a communist lesbian counterculture group that sells yummy cookies?
...then those Scouts are the best organization ever.
left lisa: Save your money! I've had problems for years with the girl scouts cookie campaign. It has nothing to do with their politics (that's a different issue altogether). My problem is that the money doesn't get to the girls. Very little of what is sold ends up at the local girl scout troupe level. My girls were in it for a year. They went out and sold like crazy and the parents still ended up funding every activity they did. Not only that, when "awards" were given out for the most sales, the parents of the winners had to buy the awards too! Sorry, but all that is teaching is it's ok to screw kids over. I guess the allegation of the girl scouts teaching communism, socialism or whatever does have some basis in facts after all. The little people do all the work and the political leaders get all the benefits!
witchrunner
Are you kidding me? Most local troops are comprised of a few kids. Of course you are still going to have to contribute for other activities. Big deal you had to buy a patch that cost about $1 or $2 to show she sold a certain amount. If each girl in a troop sells 75 boxes(average-very easily done) the troop will get I believe 75 cents per box. Compare that to a local grocery market which makes on the average 3% to 5% on items sold. My 5 yr old sold over 150 boxes in a couple weekends and that was only an hour or two for 3 or four days going door to door. She would have sold about double that but we had our niece with use, who is also a GS. The problem is you are just cheap and lazy. Were you a leader or assitant, most likely not as you just expect others to handle it by the sound of it. Why can't you crazies just stop pushing your so called values onto other folks. As for the awards(recognitions) for selling a certain number of cookies-you do not have to buy them. They are given out for selling 25, 50, 85, 100,110 and so on upto 1000 boxes per child. If she sells 200 boxes she gets all the prizes(7 of them) included in the upto 200 level, this would also help bump up the average and increase the per girl total which in turn could earn them more than $0.75 per box.
My daughter is in GS, has been since she was very little (daisy) and every year her troop sells the cookies in the spring and the candy/nuts in the fall. The troop uses the money to fund their camping trips and other activities. Most troops are like hers, less than 10 girls. My wife and two of the other parents are the adult leaders.
The girls are all in middle school and decide what they want to do with what they earn each year. That might be considered communism, because it is a group taking the money earned by each individual and using it for the group. Other people might consider that to be pooling of resources or capitalism, with the girls acting as their own board of directors.
Since it is females deciding what they want to do, instead of having a great male making decisions for them, I guess that constitutes feminism. Others might just consider that to be learning.
I guess whether the GS are good or bad depends on your perspective. If you come from a Republican background, women learning to be on their own and acting without the "benefit" of male guidance goes against the ingrained hatred of women the GOP is noted for perpetuating. On the other hand, if you are sane, you realize the GS are a good organization that most often teaches girls strong values of self reliance and hard work as well as many other things women need to be in the modern world.
Traditional American family values are to love, support and protect your spouse, love, protect and enjoy your children, and teach them all sorts of important things about life (like how to set the table or draw a sleeping kitty), and to have loads of fun doing it.
This douchebag makes the news with his sort of drek because his execrable ilk are thankfully on the way out in America. Long after these worthless, uncharitable, meaningless viewpoints have blessedly gone extinct, good old REAL family values will still be stronger than ever.
Probably in no small part to the diminished presence of mouthy dopes.
The only thing I'd add to your well thought-out list of values is that traditional Americans mind their own business, too.
I distinctly remember my parents telling me, as a kid, that the best way to identify - and stay away from - the neighbor with something to hide, was to take note of the person most stridently and vocally attacking his/her neighbors.
I'm guessing he forgot to turn his porn filter back on.
LOLOL wow... oh my gosh... this guy did "A small amount of web-based research"????? Oh honestly.. how on earth did this guy get elected to public office? oh, people voted for him. ok. now I really am scared!!!
Besides, I wouldn't care if every girl scout troop leader was a feminist, communist, socialist, or whatever, I love those thin mints.
Ever lived in Indiana? This guy is probably top of his class.
I live in MN where we have as an elected official Michelle Bachmann. I used to wonder how the people of her district could keep voting for her. Next to this guy though, she's a blooming genius!
Not to lend too much credibility to a surface analysis...but did we really need an article to explain what was rattling around in this guy's head? The picture was enough for me.
"My hobbies are...fast cars and fast women! That's why the guys in my car club call me 'the Cruiser.'"
Professional comedy writers must really get steamed at people like this guy. How can they possibly compete?
all I can takeaway from his accusation is....a girl scout beat the crap out of him in grade school!
First it was the Boy Scouts, now it is the Girl Scouts. Will the wackos never end.....
Both are great organizations! Period.
Let's see, selling cookies door to door, that is what a salesperson might do for a job when an adult. Instead of communism, I'd say the Girl Scouts promote capitalism by selling cookies door to door.
There is a saying - It takes one to know one. Maybe Rep. Morris is the "... feminists, lesbians and communist..." Probably a still-in-the-closet transgender lesbian pretending to be a Republican so voters don't know he is really a communist sleeper agent from the old Soviet Union.
good one
that's funny!
Let's see...... No, I think you covered it.
how do these idiots keep getting elected?
The plethora of idiots in the electorate tend to do the job.
Ruken,
Actually, they are lazy sheeple, desiring only to be told who to follow. They do not want to study faith, philosophy, or morality; they only want to be told right from wrong, like a five year-old. Lead me to the promised land, tell me what I have to do to EARN salvation.
True Christianity (New Testament) does not address the issues of sexuality, temporal government, or earned salvation. True Christianity offers redemption through the Grace of Christ, freely given to all who would believe.
The rest of this idiocy is due to Grumpy Old Penises trying to lead the sheep into the voting booth with their candidate in lust for temporal power, not eternal life.
Ruken is correct. We shouldn't blame the politicians, we should blame the voters. I doubt that Bob Morris went nuts overnight. Like Hitler and Mein Kempf, these taliban-like philosophies are rarely hidden. Instead, it is the voters who choose to overlook them. As a result, we get the "leaders" that we deserve.
Barry.....in some districts being overlooked isn't the strategy, it's simply the message their districts want to hear. I was in Indiana only briefly way back in the 70's and know nothing about the place other than there is a big racetrack there, and once upon a time there was a great RV and auto parts industry but if this guy really represents those voters, it's not a place I'd care to put down roots.
Congratulations Ft Wayne!
You're now running neck & neck with St Cloud MN (Michele Bachmans turf) for tis years prize for the Nuttiest Representative in the country! Good Job! You all must be SO proud of him!
As a fellow sixth districter I agree. I thought MB was unique among Republicans, but this guy (and Santorum) leads me to believe all Republicans are nuts. The Girl Scouts are a great organization, and this guy's miniscule use of the internet to research them for the purpose of disparaging them is an embarrassment to us all. Shame on you, people of Ft. Wayne. You are as bad as my neighbors in Minnesota!
He is from Indiana. Enough said!
Just a comment: I'm from Indiana (my kids grew up in one of the more conversative S Indiana towns). Somehow I grew up to be very progressive and now live in the most liberal of Alaskan cities, Juneau. Some Hoosiers remember the days of Birch Bayh (not mushy Evan:-)). I've also always respected (didn't always agree with) Dick Lugar. I'm concerned that he will be "t-partied" out. He is one of the thinking Republicans (a rare breed these days). Or, just perhaps, even Hoosiers will be "freaked out" at the ignorance, bigotry, exclusionary, and anti-women stance of current Republicans and change to a more reasonable political position (one that is more in their best interest). One can hope!
We sure to have a lot of nuts in politics in this country.
That statement "....lot of nuts in politics..." does not come close. All politicians are nuts. Impossible today, and ever since I have been able to vote (nearly 50 years), to determine who stands for what. Where on earth did this politician get his information on the Girl Scouts? I am a former Girl Scout (actually once a Girl Scout always a Girl Scout) and damn proud of it. Never saw any of the "problems" this quirky politician claims are present. My girls were Scouts (so was my son). Now my grandchildren are Scouts (Boy and Girl). They are both proud institutions and have every right to be proud. Read the Boy Scout and Girl Scout Promise. Both explain what Scouting is all about.
Worse than an idiot - he's dangerous. Five minutes on the internet and all of a sudden he's a full-fledged expert. Next we'll hear the boy scouts are a right wing fascist neo-nazi group hell bent on overthrowing the U.S. government. At least we'd be through with this moron.
A right wing fascist neo-nazi group? Well, I guess as long as they're not gay that's OK.
Or maybe he'll discover that they are a subversive group affiliated with Iran....depending on how close his rival for his seat is in the polls.
I thought that is what the boy scouts were.
Bet his favorite color shirt is brown and he is practicing his "Heils".
What a nut job. Are there really that many insane constituents out there, or are these idiots getting elected by deceit and/or apathy?
I think a lot is apathy and laziness. My mother has declined to vote for ages because she feels that she isn't intellegent enough to weed through the lies. A lot of people seem to have thrown in the towel and that's sad not to mention dangerous. Whether one agrees with the Tea Party or OWS or not, at least they energized more of our population to get involved. Ft. Wayne, get involved and recall this fool, you deserve better.
Quit making fun of Republicans...without them, we wouldn't have childish, stupid news stories like this to comment on.
How do ding dongs like this guy get elected ????
I am worried about Indiana.
Fed up Carl - now don't go bring up ding dongs - totally different topic. Anyone who enjoys ding dongs - oh well - you get my drift!
Ding dongs and Ho-Ho's! YUM!
Now if THIS subject can't unite the two parties... LOL
Uh, Hostess is going out of business you guys. No more Ding Dongs, or Ho-Ho's.
Now THERE'S a uniting cause, SAVE HOSTESS! Time for a drive to buy as much Hostess product we can to keep them solvent!
Elfangel - Too late to save Hostess - Bain Capital has their grimy claws in them - same as American Airlines
Dam those Pension Funds look good!
Most of us went broke trying to buy Hostess for the past several years. Seriously... almost $5 for a few iffy-quality junk food snacks? If they were as good as they were 40 years ago, the company would be thriving, not dying. It reminds me of the music industry, which has been committing slow suicide through insane pricing and shallow quality for many years.
its people like this that are screwing up our world. :(
Are all Republicans idiots it seems that since all the ones that is wanting to become our president surely are
Probably the most vocal ones.
Allowing the "Moral Majority" (Which was neither) get a foot hold in the 1970s has become this cancer of hypocracy which dominates their image these days.
AS for saying that the Democrats do the same, well, somewhat true but the Democrats haven't drug out the huge brass band along with claiming a higher level of religious morality, or MORE family moral than others.
Politics has NEVER been a very moral occupation. It's a dirty job which tarnishes the soul and the Republicans claiming to be the well of family values was probably the stupidest political move in Western history.
Well said elfangel. Politics is a dirty job. I fear for our country if lunatics like this keep getting elected. Republican voters MUST start using their common sense. The loony right keeps getting nuttier and nuttier. Fool me once (2010 elections), shame on you. Fool me twice (2012 elections), shame on me. These lunatic fringe politicians make even Ron Paul look electable (and intelligent).
Yeah, Bob. Down with the Girl Scouts! Good start. Shriners, you're next with your stupid little cars driving in circles and supporting health care for premature births; bunch of socialist, totalitarian, fascist, communist, dictatorial monarchs. And while we're at it, who could forget the Red Cross? The international symbol of socialist, communist, redistributing, helping those in need. Good thing Bob Dole was only the Republican candidate and didn't get elected so there weren't any apologies for his term like there were for Bush's two terms (i.e. I voted for him twice but don't blame me, he wasn't a REAL republican or conservative).
dkuhn1972 your so naive and stupid. I'm finished talking to liberal brick walls with their irrational analogies.
Bob-
Science is great. They now have medications for your problem. You no longer need to suffer the delusions and paranoia which has made you so miserable.
If I lived in Indiana I would start a recall petition for Mr. Morris. I was a girl scout, am not a radical, am not a lesbian, not that I think either is wrong, believe in human rights for all and have to keep reminding myself that in America, we have free speech..even for ill-informed, ignorant, politicians. Why even give this guy 2 seconds of fame...waste of air.
Bob: this country was founded and its greatest activities are those of the radicals. If we had followed "traditional conservative values" we would all still be in Europe, most likely complaining (VERY quietly) about the cuts to our daily gruel rations from our lords.
Radicalism makes this country great. The radicals decided that occupying just the east cost wasn't good enough, that we need to push all the way to the west coast, that we can all be free.
Bob, I'm a cradle Republican and I can make no sense of your comments. You must have a really restricted source of information.
Comment # 29.4 deleted, a repeat of a previously posted comment which this user was suspended for.
Well Red and Left, you can damn "traditional American values" all you want but lets take a look back when these values played a larger role in our society, and spare me the usual rantings of racism etc from days past. Values such as respecting one another is certainly long gone, for the most part, self sustaining life and responsiblity are certainly falling by the wayside in favor of government handouts and take from those who have to give to those who don't, including those who don't want to even try, crime, unemployment at an all time high, illegals running all over our country creating havoc, Snooki and her gang along with the likes of the Kardashians and Paris Hilton have become role models for teen and pre-teens, so yes, American values have been traded in and what we have now is not all that great. I prefer the have some of those values back. As for the Girl Scouts, I'm not sure they are the cause or the conduit for the decline but if there is something there to be investigated, then by all means someone should do so and THEN tell the story, after facts have been checked.
Jim, Go blow your nose!!!
Great idea, Jim!
Why don't YOU do the research and report back to us, so we know it was done correctly and objectively. I would estimate this project should take you somewhere around 10-15 years for the research and another 5 or so to compile the report. Now, if we could only find another 3M or so similar projects, we'll have most of the TPers out of our hair long enough to actually get something done in this country!
Self-sustaining life and responsibility? What are you talking about? You men are still so locked into the Patriarchy that you can't even see the idiocy of your statements. Show me that statement in the Constitution. Whatever the Kardashians or any other American does is not some kind of force to make you do something you don't agree with. You probably haven't heard this one for a while, being from the party of hate, but "Live and let live".
Interesting Jim in Dallas, I never realized Texas and Indiana have so much in common.
They're not rantings, because in longing for the good old days (which existed primarily in 1950's television) one does forget that they were good only for white, male, straight protestants. We have come a long way in protecting the rights of minorities and the less fortunate. I believe that we are living in a society that is much more moral and humane than it was even 50 years ago.
Jim , please go play in traffic .... and take this Morris idiot with you.
I'm tired of the stupidity. I'm just plain tired of the ignorance.
The Rights shameless support of Bush jr , Palin , Bachman, Santorum , Gingrich and now this guy have forever sealed the deal for me.
Jim, I'm Native American and we know all about your particular brand of "American Values" we know you folks consider everybody fair game who does not look like or think like you, and that Gov handouts should only go to big corporations, gentleman ranchers and companies that send jobs out of the country.
You make a good point Jim. Rumap, Jim didn't allude to the atrocities perpetuated on native peoples as being part of the traditional American values. He mentioined respecting people, all people, valuing hard work as opposed to handouts, lower crime and unemployment rates, role models who actually contribute something positive to society, and not having 16 million illegal aliens in the US helping bankrupt the country. What about those vaues don't you like? Persosnlly, I'll take more of that.
Jim, long before Paris Hilton there was Gloria Vanderbilt. People were always fascinated by debs gone wild, especially during hard economic times.
Yes, he did. So, apparently he thinks that the Girl Scouts are teaching disrespect, laziness and mugging little old ladies in the street? Nothing could be further from the truth. Those little girls are out digging tunnels to smuggle in 16 million illegal immigrants!
I don't know how a comment gets "collapsed by the community." Jim's comments and the subsequent responses should not have been collapsed. Most of us may not agree with what we wrote, but he does have a right to express his opinion. It is only by seeing these comments in the light of day so that we can respond to them do we have a chance of changing repressive attitudes. Probably not Jim's, but of other people.
Thanks Jim I'm glad someone will speak up and tell the truth! We need to stop the abortions and kill the prisoners, yahoo! I'm mean what would happen if we all actually abided by the golden rule?Anarchy and mayhem! Next thing you know us men folk will start wearing robes and sandles and making wine and eating sushi and pita bread and giving self help classes for free! Hippies!
But the Boy Scouts of Merka, now there`s an organization!
