Virginia sheriff: Wal-Mart worker shoots boss, kills self

DINWIDDIE, Va. -- An employee at a Wal-Mart distribution center shot his manager in her leg, then fatally shot himself Wednesday afternoon, the Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Office told NBC station WWBT of Richmond.

The shooter was a 32-year-old Petersburg man who had worked in the shipping department for nine years, WBBT said. He was working on the day shift and had just returned from his lunch break when he opened fire, the Sheriff's Office told WWBT. After shooting his manager, he fired two shots at deputies responding to the scene before turning the gun on himself, officials told WWBT.

Authorities said the 40-year-old manager, also from Petersburg, has worked at the facility for 18 years. Authorities are withholding her and the gunman's names until their families are notified, WBBT said.

This is not good. Too much work place violence. Why do morons have to hurt someone else when they aree displeased about something? Why not just shoot yourself and get it over with? Even if the manager pissed him off, that is no reason to shoot her azz. I'm thinking she fired him, or disiplined him for something he didn't think he deserved? Who knows? Wally wont have to pay this guys insurance. I hope the lady recovers, and has no nightmares. She might have ptsd, and sue Wally for millions, eh??? Good luck girl!!! Oops, woman.

We need to get off the mind altering drugs. The ones that cause thoughts of suicide. The ones the pushers, (doctors), dole out.

Pharmaceutical companies want all of us to be on their drugs.

Close down the American drug cartels.

Where is there mention of pharmaceutical companies in this article? Completely irrelevant. Nevertheless, I feel compelled to respond: these "mind-altering drugs" allow people who might otherwise be unable to function the opportunity to live manageable, often productive lives. Have you ever seen an unmedicated schizophrenic having a psychotic break? I doubt it, based on your comment. Yes, there are "pushers" and the pharmeceutical companies are out of control, but don't shove your generalized nonsense down our throats.

You be one of the many on drugs. Check out the side effects, before you tell us how good they are.

Read the original story and notice how Walmart intentionally blocks cellphone reception in their facilities. Freaking ridiculous that these stupid bastards are allowed to limit its customers' freedom of speech, AND endanger their lives.

I was talking on my cell phone just today at a Wal-mart. In fact, I've never had any reception problems there.

I, too have had no problem receiving a call on my cell phone at Wal-mart. Actually, it was a thank-you call from China.

She was represented the corporate; he was represented a working class. The conflict is employer-employee dispute. He does not need to shoot anyone, including himeself; he just files a claim to EEOC if the corporate ignores him. Life is precious.

Please argue with words, a non-violent manner, but not with bullets or bombs, a violent means.

This is what happens when people feel they are being treated unfairly, or if they feel you are threatening their livelihood for personal gain. Whether thats actually true or not. Especially as jobs become more scarce. Think about it, regardless of the justification for firing someone, often firing them results in destroying their live, and they may lose everything as a result. Im not surprised in the least this happens. In fact, im surprised it doesnt happen more to be honest. Especially if a worker feels they are being destroyed because a company wants to make more profit, or a boss is using them to advance themselves. Whether that feeling is founded or not.

Firing someone should not be something employers do as if its just another day at the office. It just might cost you more than you think..

WAL MART has the worst shopping experience..........only a matter of time before somebody gets robbed by knifepoint or by gun in an aisle while shopping. The class of people that patronize the place is downright scary.
