This is an outrage. How can one not properly identify race, especially a regarded institution like Time?

Racial identification is one of the cornerstones of our society!

We need to set up government re-education camps to train people to tell the difference, with at least 99% accuracy, between the various races.

I imagine the training sessions would include pictures of facial features, skin color samples, and other Race Indentifiers. This should be as basic as reading and math. Race Indentification classes for school children!

This way, we can put each of the races in their proper place: separate and disctinct from all the other races.

Let me give you my view of beauty. The most beautiful people? You already have number one: The Sacandinavian people. Second: The rest of the white world, including of course, America. Third, Hispanics, fourth Orientals and last blacks. This is not based on race or being racist by straight beauty as I see it. How many times many people have complained that this candidate should have won over the chosen one? I'll have to say in all pageants. Just imagine, supposedly Donald Trump, who is as broken in beauty as in his fiances, his vote, supposedly, counts for two a three votes. Is that fair? No. And I do know that his model for beauty, if we are to judge for his chosen harem is nothing to brag about, I would even advise him to stay out of the pageant business. If his idea of a beautiful woman is his wives, then he obviously this corroborates, confirms that beauty is the eye of the beholder. They, to me, are more in the ugly side than on the side of beauty. I find this story to actually be pretty funny...my husband, who is also of hispanic origin, and I have traveled extensively...people think he's a Pacific islander, Chinese, Mongolian, Spanish and Eskimo. FYI: Latinos are not a separate race. Race classifies people by color, most Latinos are Caucasian/White. Latino is an ethnicity. People use "Latino", similar to how they use "White", to clump together people of different nationalities or origins. In this case, Spanish speakers that are not Spanish. Also, there are many Latinos with Asian origins.

He also more than likely is related to several Native Americans. Most of us who have had families here since the 1600's/1700's do have Native American ancestors. You're absolutely right Aztlan. Latino/a comes from Spanish heritage as filtered through the New World gene pool. Also, if we were allowed to elect dead presidents (not just dead-from-the-neck-up, as has happened too many times), I would prefer Simon Bolivar.

The problem is that there is no such thing as a latino "race". Latinos are made up of all different races - Caucasian (which is why many of them have Spanish last names - Spaniards are generally Caucasian with some Moorish mixed in), Native Indian, black, even Asian. And yes, many are a mixture of all or some of things, while some are even pureblooded - such as Argentinians that are purely caucasian. In fact, Argentina is such a melting pot who's to say that Asian man wasn't an Argentinian?? When it comes to Latin America, one should not assume they know what a "Latino" looks like.

U're right Bonos_Rama, "Latino" or "Hispanic" is not a racial category. In fact, even the US Census says as much. The term refers to people who have family connections in Latin America (countries in the Americas that speak a Latin/Romance language), and those people can be of any race. For example, David "Big Papi" Ortiz, Alex Rodrigues, Jose Reyes (all 3 baseball players) are "Black" Latinos; Cameron Diaz, Christina Aguilera are "White" Latinos; Eva Longoria, Oscar de la Hoya look "Mestizo" (mixed white and Indian); and George Lopez is likely "Indian/Native-American" Latino. These are just the 4 main groups, but there are even other groups that live in Latin America including Asians, Arabs, etc... If anything, look at the census information from Latin American countries and you will not find a racial category named "Latino/Hispanic". One thing though is that all the racial groups of Latinos are available in the U.S. census, except for "Mestizo". I believe they should add that category so that the majority of Latinos here can have a more accurate way to identify themselves.
