JACKSON, Tenn. -- One man was killed and 19 other people injured after a shooting at a nightclub, police in West Tennessee said Sunday.
Officers were called to the Karma Lounge in downtown Jackson at about 2 a.m. Sunday and arrived to find one man dead, 17 people with gunshot wounds and two who were trampled, according to Jackson Police Lt. Tyreece Miller.
Miller said a dispute among several people led to the shooting. Evidence indicates at least three people used handguns to fire into the crowd.
According to WMCTV, the nightclub had advertised a Lane College and LeMoyne-Owen College after-game party.
Lecarlos Todd, 19, of Memphis, was killed. Another shooting victim was in critical condition Sunday night at a local hospital.
Authorities released photos of two men taken by the club's video cameras. Miller said investigators want to question them.

Actually, the Tennessee Concealed Carry law specifically prohibits concealed weapons in any establishment that serves alcohol.
flnobody, that law does not allow just anyone to carry a firearm in public, bars or otherwise. Only those legally permitted (CCW) are allowed to do so. Chances are slim to none that the shooters in this case were illegal the moment they stepped out of their homes. Am I in favor of harsher penalties for crimes committed while in possession of a fire arm? Absolutely. Ten years additional minimum.
Tony its true thugs dont obey the law however at least it would be nice to do something about it when you do find guns on thugs instead of just waving them on. That tired old argument about only criminals having guns is a false one. Any unbiased study finds that guns carried by a untrained populace only makes the rest of us unsafe. Besides anyone who hides a gun on themselves probably has a pretty aggressive personality, and why hide a gun, most areas allow you to carry openly, makes me question the mental state of all those who do carry.
Unfortunately the shooters rational was that if people can carry guns within facilities legally, then they will not get caught with their pants down legal or illegal.

Yes and no - you can carry into an establishment that serves alcohol, but it is against the law to consume alcohol while carrying. If someone will violate the law on drinking, what makes you think they wouldn't violate the law on carrying?

I think you are a bit confused as to the truth of the matter concerning the "Gun in Bars issue". What it "REALLY" pertains to is the ability to carry on ones person, provided they have a valid concealed carry permit, their concealed firearm, whilst having dinner at a restaurant that also serves alcohol for consumption, such as TGI Fridays, or Ruby Tuesday's. That also comes with a stipulation that they cannot drink and/or hang around in the bar area. Most gun owners with whom have a concealed carry permit, are very up on all the changes to laws and restrictions concerning this issue. It is part of the responsibility of having the permit, and owning a gun, to know where and when they can carry into an establishment or not, as they don't want to lose their permit after working so hard to get it going through all the background checks and such. So, in turn that means that "Concealed Guns in BARS" in particular such as Archie's Bar or the "Night Club" in this story that just sells Liquor and Beer to drink, have been and remain illegal. It is just sensationalizing by the anti gun agenda to confuse the ignorant.
Did you read the article? It didn't say anything about race or males fathering children. It did, however, mention guns. Go back to Faux news if you want to rant about things that aren't true.

Technically it's the bullet that kills people not the gun........the gun just makes the bullet go really really fast.
The law states you can CARRY in a bar. It's still illegal to CONSUME while in possession of a firearm. The law was mainly to allow the owner's and employees of establishments to protect their patrons and property. The law had to be vague in order to pass judicial review, and not discriminate against other citizens.
This is where the bozos come out of the woodwork. These guys opened fire into a crowd of unarmed people indiscriminately. That's a 1st Degree Felony. However, you think it wouldn't have happened if the law didn't allow them to carry in bars. Implying they're willing to murder, but not disregard a gun law. You people are complete buffoons.

Everytime something like this happens, some people always have to have a rascist comment. Why can't it just be sad that someone died because some people have poor impulse control issues. In any case, what practical difference does it make whether the weapon was concealed or not? A case could be made that such a weapon unconcealed would be provocative. A concealed weapon, on the other hand, might provide its owner with a sense of power that leads to such events.
These recent laws relaxing firearms regulations are unwise to the extreme. They are prime examples of what happens when folks are unfamiliar with history (i.e. the events in the 1800's which led to gun laws): They are doomed to repeat it.

Actually I think it has more to do with them being sports fans. Sporting events are pretty violent and that violence carries over into the post-game drinking. You don't hear about too many shootings related to sci-fi conventions, for example.

Many on the extreme right have been campaigning to allow college students a right to carry concealed weapons on campus. On campus is not simply in class. An on-campus day usually involves classes, physical/sports activities, library, pub, socializing, dorms, consultation with administrators, deans, teachers, entertainment - and these kids need guns in all this. And when they stop at the pub, where does the gun go? When playing tennis, swimming, etc. - carry a gun in the pool? The extreme right has got to realize we need jobs and solutions to our finances, not gun carrying fraternities.

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, there was a fatal shooting on the campus of the fine institution Lane College, an historically black university. I have lived in Jackson for twenty years and I personally think Lane should be closed down as a public nuisance!
What's more, Wesley McClure, President of Lane, likes to blame the "white club owners" for the violence that traditonally occurs at the Lane functions. If you want a good laugh, go to the Jackson Sun website and check out his op-ed columns that run constantly. Though his columns are usually unintelligible and clouded with racial overtones and nuance, you can usually catch just enough of his drift to make you shake your head in disbelief.
