Florida man arrested in threat on Obama

A 20-year-old South Florida man was arrested for threatening the president of the United States during President Barack Obama’s trip to Miami, authorities said.

On Thursday federal agents raided the west Miami-Dade home of Joaquin Amador Serrapio Jr., at 236 SW 136th Place. He was taken into custody before he could make any attempt to harm the president, authorities said.

They said Serrapio was arrested for making threats against the president, a federal felony that could bring a five-year prison term if he is convicted.

Serrapio pleaded not guilty before a federal magistrate, who set his cash bond at $20,000, in addition to a $50,000 personal surety bond that his parents signed, according to court records.

Neighbors said Serrapio’s street was full of federal agents and county police Thursday – the day that Obama made a big policy speech on energy at the University of Miami and held two fundraisers in the area.

Secret Service and FBI agents working with White House advance teams keep close tabs on anyone who they believe could be a credible threat to the president, and federal agents were evidently concerned enough about Serrapio to take him off the streets and into custody. It is unclear what the exact threats that he allegedly made are.

No one has answered the door or the phone Monday afternoon at the home where neighbors say Serrapio lives. County property records indicate that his parents own the residence.

Serrapio is due to be arraigned in federal court on March 9.

Again, another totally incomplete story!!! Absolutely no evidence presented in this story so I'll wait till I see some facts to make any kind of judgement. Be interesting where freedom of speech stops and a serious threat begins! BTW didn't the president ensure a law is in place that he can basically have anyone arrested for anything, any time, any place, any where, with or without evidence, cause etc... Need to see how this plays out in reality.

Honestly, I'm just surprised it hasn't happened a lot sooner and more often. In fact, I'm shocked that people are just voicing threats and not taking pot shots at him. One of the main reasons I didn't vote for Obama (because I was one of the idiots that thought he actually could be a decent president) was that I didn't think he'd live out his 4 year term, and I certainly didn't want president Biden (not that president Palin would have been any improvement).

Frankly, I think this is just proof that Democracy is not what people crack it up to be. The fact is, it only works for very small societies. There is a reason dictatorships and communism has lasted for 2500 years, and democracy is failing terribly after only 200.

This is just like all other "breaking" stories where we don't get all of the facts immediately. It will be interesting to see if more details become available before his March 9th hearing.

Hey MSNBC, how about waiting to see what he was charged with before posting the article here?

Hold up...You are all bent out of shape about this MSNBC article, apparently because you don't feel that it is reporting all of the facts. Yet earlier on another thread, you were referencing something you saw on Faux "News" as your "source" for the point you were making (or, at least the point you were ATTEMPTING to make). How can you RWNJs be so dang hypocritical??? Faux "News" has REPEATEDLY been proven to largely IGNORE the facts in their "reporting". In fact, there are reports which confirm that Faux "News" viewers are LESS informed than people who don't watch ANY news broadcasts AT ALL! Yet you republiCLOWNS never doubt or question a single word of their ABSURD and BLATANTLY FALSE "reporting". I mean, you guys quote O'Reilly, Hannity, & the rest of the Faux "News" gasbags almost as much as you quote the Holy Bible. When are you EVER going to realize that Faux "News" is NOT a news agency -- it is a propaganda machine for the republCON party.

If, as you suggest, this article is devoid of all the facts, I can't understand why this would trouble you since you HAVE to be used to fact-less "reporting", considering you watch Faux "News". Dude, you should SERIOUSLY change the channel or turn off your TV before you OD on that Faux "News" Kool-Aid!

In a thread earlier you said that you were "ENTITLED" to see pictures of Bin Laden's corpse to prove to YOUR satisfaction that he REALLY IS dead. You RWNJs really are selfish and self-absorbed. It's ALL ABOUT YOU and what you are "ENTITLED" to, isn't it?

Remember Obama demanded that the right of the executive branch to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens without due process be included in the NDAA. We heard about this kid. How many have we not heard about? Because of the detailed provisions in the NDAA the executive branch does not have to answer to anyone about who they have in custody. Not the congress. During Obama's first two years the democrats maintained their majorities in both the House and Senate. Not a single bill was introduced to end the two wars during that time. The democrats still hold a majority in the Senate and control of the White House. But somehow it is all the republicans fault. Give me a break.

Long ago intelligence has said that this would happen. Forces of "unknown/unseen" origin would cause the collapse of a once great, proud and powerful nation. Like so many that have fallen before it. I'm not here to place blame on anyone or any group. I just want to help find credible, constructive answers in a world where certain fragmentations distract, dilute and divide. I can trust and want to be trusted. To me it hasn't mattered who has been in office I have always felt the same. No different. A peasant among pleasantries and a prisoner in my own mind. Id, ego, super-ego. Paying close attention to those laws that circumvent and give pause to critical process of progress. I respect my president but how are you suppose to turn ear when your voice has already been silenced? I don't want to see this country (or any for that matter) fall, fail and I don't want to see us turn into a bitter, self-serving society. This is not what I see my country as. I see it as strong and united for all and not a sole view of personal perpetual motion. Without finding that which unifies us we are destined to a strict and painful demise. We all have a purpose in a world of no purpose unless it be survival on a rotating rock. We all have worth in a world of worthlessness unless that worth is gaged by method of madness. What purpose is calling you? That's something you have to discover. I know that dealing in deceptions/manipulations has never guided any society to greatness. Only the minds of visionaries that "discover", not "create", the universes mysteries in their respective locales add to that greatness of the human race. It's not just about us or them anymore. It's about something better for each and every one of us. That is the thought. That is the "dream". Their are those that would sneer at the notion of a world where we are all treated as equals with the voice that is given purpose to its will. I have no hate in my heart. True, I do say and do things that I later regret, as you. That is our curse. But it doesn't have to define us and for some we allow it to. With each passing day tell yourself that today I'm going to be better than I was the day before. Strive for perfection but know that you will never be perfect. Be the solution and not the desolution. I guard what I hold as only dreams and I would gladly die for what we all hold as evident. Something that finds purpose shifting and shaping. Something this world can no longer live without. Shining a light in Darkness...........

Now, now. At least they didn't declare him a terrorist and detain him indefinitely without counsel, without bail and without charges. NDAA allows for all that. Obama signed it into law recently. Interesting how quiet his supporters are about losing the last vestiges of their civil rights. Can't blame that one on Bush although many will sure do their best to deflect blame from Obama.

Jr. doesn't have the right to make threats against some person - that is not "free speech". And he really screwed up by threatening the President of the United States. the sad part is we have no one to speak for us, no one on the right and no one on the left, the new ballot is going to have a section for none of the above. Obama if elected for a final term will destroy this country, and the Republicans don't have a runner, maybe we should take a second look at Neut at least he has a direction to focus on even if its out in space. its better then sitting here and defecating all over ourselves. hell I'd even vote for Oriley if he'd run, then there is always Rosanne??? Jon Jones--Yes, there are 50 states--there are also quite a few territories and there is Washington DC.

Beyond the 50 states and DC, the populated American territories (not just pieces of land that the US has jurisdiction over, but places where there are actual people who count as nationals, though not always as citizens) we find:

          American Samoa
          Swain's Island
          US Minor Outlying Islands
          Guam
          Puerto Rico
          Virgin Islands

Gee, golly, gosh, but that makes 57, now doesn't it? It wasn't the number of "states" that the president got wrong, it was the word "states" itself. These possessions are also under United States control, and the last three contain peoples who are citizens as well as nationals. The president was thinking more broadly--and, yes, he misused a term. However, there are in fact 57 different subsections of the US--and in that number he was correct even if he used the wrong word in place of "subsections."

Geez, people--you want to let that one drop already?

Sure, let's ignore the fact that he said "states." let's ignore the fact that he said "transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency", then he closed the doors on all of us and the republicans. let's ignore the fact that he said "i will have c-span televise the health care hearings so that the public will know that my administration will be transparent" and then didn't allow them in. this is just a few of many things that this president said WHEN running for office. take away his teleprompter and we get to see the true person.

Obama hates America. Obama is destroying America. Obama supports terrorists. Obama is weak and does not believe in America. And the list goes on and on. All BS, but that is what conservatives thrive on.

Actually I find both sides to be nutbags, but I find the liberals to be worse than the conservatives. The liberals will call black, white, up, down, and make up anything they want while at the same time making excuses for their own party even when its obvious they are pathetic. I will have to vote non democratic the rest of my life because I believe in truth and obviously I cant be a democrat then. Dont want to be a repub either, guess I'll be a independant, at least I can be honest then. Better honest and lose than immoral, and a democrat (and yes lying to me is immoral).

I guess in the end what drove me from the liberal side of life are things like this. If you vote for something against them, you are religious and trying to cram your beliefs down their throat. If they vote for something against you though its totally ok and you shouldnt vote your beliefs only they can. If you dont like what they say you are a conservative and shouldnt have any rights, but if you agree with them then and only then should you have rights, or be listened to. To me the liberals are the most hypocritical group I have ever encountered. I'd rather have the terrorists, at least I would know what I'm dealing with. Not so with liberals, they change worse than the wind. I used to be a liberal until I realized they didnt believe anyone else had rights, only themselves, and that their rights should supercede everyone else's rights.

Then watching the news I became disgusted with both fox and cnn as I first learned that both are biased and not truly news at all. But then I saw how liberals would say fox is so biased, but act like cnn wasnt, but the repubs I knew at least admitted that both were. In the end I became disillusioned with the democratic party because it is the party of falsehood and I would rather have the republicans rob my wallet than the democrats rob my soul.

            Left-wing has been talking for over eight years about killing Bush. Nobody arrested for their posts or speech. Now we have the speech police the food police, thought police, and a government that sues states, rewrites the constitution, deletes the bill of rights, done by left and right. Listens to your phone calls, now flying spy drones over America, 80% will vote against something and government will go against the people and do what they want. from an article in 2008;

Geisel is being prosecuted exclusively for the threat against candidate Barack Obama, and not for the threat against President Bush. Ed Donovan, a Secret Service spokesman refused to comment on the number of threats to political candidate and government officials, but did go as far as to say that this "might be the first arrest" in regards to this political election.

Every threat to Obama is now vigorously pursued, trumpeted and dissected by the media and the blogs, and roundly condemned. And I condemn such threats as well.

But in the past, whenever someone threatened Bush at a protest, there was a deafening silence on the part of the media and the left-leaning blogs, and consequently very little (if any) follow-through on the part of the Secret Service.

A protester with a sign saying “Kill Bush” and advocating that the White House be bombed, at the March 18, 2007 anti-war rally in San Francisco.

“Save Mother Earth, Kill Bush” says this sign from a November 20, 2003 protest.

A recommendation that Bush should hang, from an October 27, 2007 protest in Los Angeles.
“Bush is the disease, Death is the cure,” says this protester at an anti-war rally in San Francisco.
Two different pictures of the same sign saying “Bush — the only dope worth shooting,” at the March 15, 2008 anti-war rally in Los Angeles.
“Death to…Bush” at the October 27, 2007 anti-war rally in San Francisco.
Bush being beheaded by a guillotine, at an Obama campaign rally, Denver, October 26, 2008.
Protesters call for Bush to be beheaded with a guillotine, at a protest against Bush’s second inauguration, January 20, 2005, in New York.
Bush being burned in effigy, at a November 3, 2004 post-election anti-Bush rally in San Francisco.
Bush being lynched by an American flag at a rally in New York on September 19, 2006.
Woman holding a puppet of Bush being hung by the neck, from a March 17, 2007 protest in Hollywood, California.

A child holding Bush’s tombstone, at the February 16, 2003 anti-war rally in San Francisco.

Maher: You could have went to New Hampshire and killed two birds with one stone.

Kerry: Or, I could have gone to 1600 Pennsylvania and killed the real bird with one stone.

Full transcript of the interview here.

Was John Kerry ever questioned or investigated for making a threat against Bush? No.

On July 11, 2007, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Betty Williams gave the keynote speech to the International Women’s Peace Conference in Dallas, Texas, and said (to laughter and applause from the audience):

“I mean right now, I could kill George Bush, no problem. No, I don’t mean that. I mean — how could you nonviolently kill somebody? I would love to be able to do that.”

On August 4, 2000, when Bush won the Republican nomination (but before he was president), Craig Kilborn on CBS’s The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn ran a graphic of the words “SNIPERS WANTED” under George Bush as he gave his acceptance speech. Although CBS belatedly apologized five days later, Kilborn was never investigated, questioned or punished, and continued to host the show for four more years.

None of these protesters were arrested.

Every person should be acknowledging that several factors are the result of our current conundrum - 2 of those major factors are both responsible for the lions share when it comes to where does the buck stop. If your mind isn't already on investigation mode when the topic is politics - then you are missing the entire point of the game (from a sideline perspective) - tracking the lies and corrupt dealings is what sets the intelligent from the sheep...if your score cards has all pluses for one side and all minuses for the other side - turn in your game card - you have been disqualified...to the sheep barn, no soup for you.

Reb, it's ok if everyone doesn't vote for the current prez - he only needs 51%, which should be no problema.

Hey he may be the President, but he is still the devil. We are a country led into verge of bankruptcy by his decisions and now our creditability is ruined by him. The young 20 year old was just a ploy to give him some publicity. Obama has taken enough on his "vacations" and sideline fund raisers that he should pay the country bad for their bad jusgement. Guwess you can't fix stupid!

I am really surprised the POTUS did not issue an apology to the supposed "assassin" for being so disliked by him. So policy now dictates to make war on the American people, and apologize to the terrorists for inconveniencing them. Another 4 years?? How can the world take America seriously, when so many Americans do not take their own obligations to vote seriously?

Bush sent the Saudi Arab family home immediately, 9/12, when all but U.S. military planes were grounded. 15 of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi A.; the king of S.A. a very, very close friend of the bushies, which made the WTCs attack suspect.

It would be great to secede from a country that elects a Muslim from Kenya to be their leader. Unfortunately, if we tried to exercise our legal right to secede we would soon be branded traitors and they would repopulate Texas with Californians and New Yorkers to make sure they got our electoral votes.

OK everyone.... JOAQUIN AMADOR SERRAPIO JR. LIVES AT 236 SW 136th PLACE. IN MIAMI-DADDEE, FLORIDA.

Thought it was stupid to include the street address of this kid's house in the article. Prolly his parents own it.

And... "Joaquin Amador Serrapio"? Sounds Illegal to me. Feds now gotta learn where to deport the thing.

The kid prolly wanted to Antique The President, with a pre-sifted bag of white flour, for not living up to his campaign promises. Or, at least that's what I would threaten to do. But, that's not really a threaten; it's a prank. I bet the Secret Service can get mighty aggressive on a potential antiquer. But I missed my chance when The Prez came to Phoenix. I like to sleep in late.

And Cubans are mostly Republican which benefit us, you do know that too right. Oh wait you don't, that's why you came with such an idiotic comment. Man my party has becomed so ignorant that I just don't recognize it anymore. Of course all presidents receive protection. Would that not be common sense? I simply typed that in Obama's case the cost must be higher. I mean, He is just soooo loved. That was tongue in cheek. In fact there have been Secret Service cuts that have left the President more vulnerable.

But I would not expect you to know that. It's so much eaiser to just call a person a name. I'm willing to bet you don't name call in real life. Easy with a key board - to be a bully.

I am sure I could have done the same with all the conservatives that name call. To just point at the Liberals makes your little .doc biased and only validates things slanted to favor Conservatives. I am sure the same amount of names have been called by the Conservatives. Where's your .doc on that? There are just as many Conservatives at the bottom of that barrel too.

Stop working to divide and spend more time pointing out that both sides do it equally. People complain about the politicians working on dividing this nation when it's the people doing it instead.

Yep! It probably costs a lot less than when Bush was in office. Not to mention his 2 wars. That's what bankrupted the country.

Siestasis will now explain to us how a radical Muslim father ( Hussein Obama's ) allowed him to grow up as a Christian. He will then explain why Hussein Obama refused to show his birth certificate for three years ( takes a long time to come up with a credible forgery ) even though a birth certificate reveals no information that could possibly harm him in any way, unless he just didn't have one. He will then explain why the birth certificate that Hussein Obama finally produced has no footprints on it. I'm older than him and mine does. He will then explain why Hussein Obama's own grandmother said he was born in Kenya and she was there and knew the exact house.

You're on Siestasis. Let us have it.

                              Cass, I love this game.

“It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name.” Nancy Pelosi on unemployment.

On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes --
and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is
                              particularly strong.
                              Barack Obama
                              Does Obama see
                              dead people?

Come on! I just answered, like, eight questions.(Whew time for a smoke break after that marathon)
                              Barack Obama
Exasperated by reporters after news conference during 2008 US
                              presidential camapaign.

"First Bush cut taxes for the rich and the
economy has rebounded with new record low unemployment rates, which only means
wealthy employers are getting even wealthier at the expense of the underpaid
working class." Nancy Pelosi. Ummm, what?

“Every week we don’t pass a Stimulus package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.” Yep, she said it, any of you smarties want to toss out there how many people live in the U.S.?

“I believe in natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels.”Nancy Pelosi. Wow, just wow.

.“The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ Nancy Pelosi.

Now it's been said that quote doesn't appear anywhere in the Old Testament and I dont know. But she claims to be a devout Catholic.

                              Fun game.

Think of what the Secret Service went through when Bush was in. They didn't only have to worry about assassins. They couldn't let him bike alone, play with sharp objects, or eat pretzels !

Why can't they just stick to the facts? Because mere facts are not libelous enough.

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

The level of disrespect shown to Barack Obama has never been shown to any other President, and there is no one who can show us anything that Obama has done or said to warrant these attacks or threats.

He is disliked because of one reason and one reason only. Ane the reason can be found in the type of people who hate him! Easy figuring out!

But if you listen to Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, you can see where some nutcrackers can get the motivation or inspiration.

And with Obama's popularity reboudning, you can imagine the hate that is simultaneously rising inside those who think he should be a one-term President...one way or other.

He started the disrespect of a sitting president during his debates with McCain. I was appalled by his disrespect toward president Bush, but I guess you reap what you sow !! He was the first I have ever seen to be so disrespectful. I was surprised he was not arrested !! Look back at the debates if you have any doubts !!

He is disliked so much because he is out of control with spending, and is basically clueless. Never has there been a less qualified president.

If you don't deserve respect, you don't get it.

                                    Andy,

I am sorry you have such a one sided view of the issues that trouble many people of all walks in this country.

It is not the President as a person but the policy's like NDAA, Patriot Act, Health Care Reform and others that attack Constitutional freedoms for everyone of us. It would seem President Obama studied Constitutional Law so he could direct efforts to skirt it. This young man could be the first one to test the NDAA and he could just disappear without due process if the President wants him too. The problems are not limited to the Democrats as it was McCain who co-sponsored the bill with Lavine.

I just ask the question what is our leadership afraid of that they would hide law that allows the imprisonment of American Citizens without due process and use the United States military to do that? Do you believe this is a good use of law? What if some other President wants to name you a "terrorist" take your property and banish you to prison without due process? Would you not want me and others to rush to your defense? Would you want protection by the Constitution from this type of government action?

The possibility that current policy decisions are making it harder for those who are poor and unemployed make some people desperate. A quick look at the number of "real" unemployed and the rising numbers of poor in our country over the last three years may make people lose hope. I know what is happening in our little community because I work as a volunteer with homeless and poverty stricken people. The level of need in our small towns is greater than state and federal government agencies can handle. I know they called me just today to help get someone off the street and into low income housing. A local church donates the funds to directly help these people and I just help direct where the funds go.

Every day the media and government lie about the true condition of the economy and our citizens in an effort to stimulate spending. Most of us are tapped out and are just getting by. If the policies don't match the needs the President will not be re-elected. I am not sure any of the other alternatives are any better. We need some real leadership that is in tune with the real needs of this country. Our current group of leaders including the President is so out of touch with us they waste time and money arguing about birth control, abortion, and a list of stuff that will not matter if we can not pay the bills. I am still "Hoping" for "Change" but have seen little of either. How about you?

How about attack my church does that count? And then there is his insane federal justice in Texas who in two months time has ruled both against and for prayer at high school graduation. What does this judge do rule for whoever gets to the courtroom door first? And the three stooges in SA that have messed with the redistricting so much the the March 3rd, April 3rd, April 17th, May 29th Texas primary may have to be moved to after the convention. Does the healthcare plan cover enough tranquilizers to live in this country? I guess I have reason to be pissed.

Andy, I beg to differ with you, read Whitehat Reports if you need reasons. This story is about some nut threatening the president. I don't give a damn about the man's color, it's his attitude, lies and all his failed changes. The president is the president and NO One has the right to threaten him and it is our reponsibilty to protect the president, whether we like him or not.

You can't stereotype all of us because you think we are prejudice, just because of COLOR. obamma gives US many reasons not to like him. Always a race issue... when something looks, smells and taste like $hit, it probably is.... To get RESPECT you have to earn it... it's not a government give away!

Why do you think we hate him? We hate his arrogance and lies, Mr. No IT ALL and the list goes on!

Everyone always respected Presidents to their face until Obama. As awful as Bush was at trying to lead the country, people criticized him behind his back or in the news. No Americans shoved their fingers in his face and shrieked at him or yelled "you lie!" to his face. This is what the right extremists are doing to our President that is unprecedented and scary.

You really haven't been to many political speeches have you there is always someone yelling you lie. And poor LBJ had my generation whose comments to his face would have been bleeped out in any forum

Yes!! Finally someone who has seen how rude the American people have been. It doesn't matter if you voted for him or not, the level of rudeness has been breathtaking! And, if you have been paying attention, you would have seen the Republicans starting alot of that. In all my years, I have never seen this level of rudeness towards a President from so many, and so publically!

We are becoming a society, that if we don't change our snotty attitude, no one else in the world will have anything to do with us. You don't have to be a fan of whoever is sitting in the Whitehouse, but this overwhelming rudeness and name calling has gotten completely out of hand. We wonder why our kids have become such brats, and snotty brats to boot, and why bullying is still going on, and that's the main reason school shootings go on, and we wonder where the little darlings get it! Look in the mirror folks!!!!

Steve...While I agree with you about President Obama being a little green to be in the White House, what do you say about your "front runner" Romney??? He's had the same amount of politcal office experience as President Obama. At least the President has been to law school and understands Constitutional Law, unlike Mitt Romney who was just a business man. You may not like how he interprets the law or the laws he puts in place, but his educational background was LAW, whereas Mitt has a Bachelor's of Arts degree. Now, who is not qualified??? I'll bet you'll ignore Mitt's inexperience and have no problem voting for him this November. Actually, with the President's first term almost under his belt, he has more political experience than Mitt. Wonder how many Republicans will become hypocrits and vote for the least qualified candidate just because he has an R next to his name???

But he has plans and has got many of the Sh*t jobs left to him done, he's got great political savvy, honor of State and putting Country first over and over again, he is true to his family and holding stern against all odds put before him. Not too bad considering all the obsticals he has been faced with. And the GOP opposition to choose from..... nota!

The President understands constitutional law and understands how to twist and circumvent it as well. Romney succesfully runs businesses while Obama has what??? actual experience with business or foreign policy?? Neither one of them are greatly experienced compared to some former Presidents. Unfortunately none of the alternatives are morally or ethically qualified either. Where doe that leave us?? With a bunch of people on capitol hill who couldn't care less what any of us plain old citizens think as long as they can bambozzle us into giving up or vote and our cash to them. AS far Obamas' behavior during the campaign I don't think I've ever seen a candidate so arrogant for so little reason. That is exactly why I dislike him because he came off seeming like he was better than everyone else and that he had a right to look down on and disrespect anyone oponents, supporters and the public. Hope the men and the black suits don't come after me for that. It is after all just my opinion which at least used to be protected by the constituition.

What Bush did warrant the hate, but for Obama I have seen more hate than even for Bush. Most hate stem from stupid extreme view of GOP.

@skrewd...that is exactly my point. Neither are particularly qualified to be the POTUS. One only is slightly more qualified over the other...as he's had 3 years in the White House. I don't know if he's done the best job or not, honestly. I haven't really been affected negatively or positively by his presidency. My life doesn't really feel any different than it did under GWB. I wish that our Congress could start working together and get some work done. Seems like all they do is argue. I don't blame the President for that either. Boehner and Reid get the blame there. As for the job experience, President Obama was an associate lawyer that represented community organizers and voters rights for 3 years, taught Constitutional law classes at University of Chicago Law, was an Illinois State Senator for 8 years, was a US Senator for one term before becoming President. I'd say he has more experience over Romney. As for foreign policy, how many presidents have actual foreign policy experience before becoming President???

Well, another fact is a president shouldn't take theirs religious belief into decision making. If I want a religious based leaders or government, I would have move to Middle East, but thankfully it's not the case here.

Thousands of years, we have many people who used religious to justify their actions, ask yourself this: Do you want to have this same things happen again?

If you had to endure the last four years of Bush's presidency as a Republican, and the complete lack of respect people showed him, you wouldn't be foolish enough to make such a statement. You reap what you sow I'm afraid.

I'm going to start crying discrimination because I'm being lumped into a group as being narrow minded, fear mongering, racist, and a hater in general. I majored in anthropology in college in the 70's. I believe in evolution. I'm spiritual, but don't much believe in organized religion. I believe abortion is a woman's right to decide and she should not be subjected to lectures or sonograms. I don't care if gays/lesbians want to get married. It doesn't bother me what their sexual preferences are. And yet I'm a conservative. How is that even possible??? I find it amazing that so many of the people I went to college with who protested the Vietnam war and government interference are some of the most outspoken Obama supporters and this is a man who wants the government to have a hand in everything we say and do. I don't want him apologizing to terrorist dictators and religious fanatics on my behalf. The man makes a beautiful speech but he is in way over his head. And how can I be called a racist when our POTUS has a youtube video calling on his African American "folks" to come out and keep him in the Oval Office so that "they" can complete "their" mission. What a crock.

I should think that our president should do what ever it takes to keep from having MORE soldiers killed, and if that means apologizing for a "mistake" such as burning the koran, then he should do it!

                                          Quack, quack...

Big E...I didn't really like what I was hearing from either candidate. I didn't like what I was seeing/hearing from Sarah Palin more than I didn't like Joe Biden. Based on McCain's age, it was very feasible that something could happen to him, putting Palin in charge. The thought of that happening scared me more than the thought of McCain, Obama, or Biden in the "hot seat." There is absolutely nothing wrong with my logic. If you have a problem with it, so be it.

Maybe someone wouldnt have shouted "you lie" during one of his speeches if he could tell the truth once or twice during a speech.

Maybe someone should have shouted "you lie" when GW Bush waved his hands about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

But hey, that's entirely the same as Obama, it's not like thousands of our warriors died and we spent a trillion dollars fighting in the desert for apparently no reason--oh wait.

And yet I'm a conservative. How is that even possible???

That's pretty simple, you're a moderate. You're like me actually, social liberal, fiscal conservative.

Unfortunately the modern day GOP is none of the above.

Answer, a total moron, what with the election only eight months away. Sheesh, even John Wilkes Booth had the good sense to wait until after Lincoln's re-election.

Why do you idiot libs constantly use the phrase neo-cons? I do not think that word means what you think it means.

Just because neo is a root used in neo-nazi doesnt actually mean neo a negative or evil as you fools seem to think. I laugh at how stupid you libs are every time i read that.

"Neo" means new and "con" is short for conservative - new conservative. Meaning you're nothing like the old Goldwater or even Reagan conservatives. They'd be too "liberal" for your taste.

I think I am a Neo Conservative/radical/progressive/semi liberal, depending on the issue, almost socialist on Medical care.

Mike-1911505 - sounds like you're not a "neo-con" at all. You sound like a normal person.

I don't have a problem with conservative ideas or liberal ideas - we should all have viewpoints covering a wide range depending on the issue. Just like I don't have a problem with most "flip-floppers". We all change our mind over time.

I do, however, have a problem with conservative thinkers and liberal thinkers.

Big difference. It's one thing to have an opinion or idea that happens to be liberal or conservative. It's quite another when liberal/conservative is your default state of mind and that's where the ideas and opinions come from. With that in mind, read through the posts on pretty much any article and you'll see what I'm talking about.

                                                  William,

I just hope we can survive 4 more years of our current leadership in both parties. You are a little off the bubble as the problem resides on the far left and right. We need centrist leadership. We have had enough of these poor performers on both sides of the aisle.

How do you like the NDAA and the Patriot Act? Like all the arguments about birth control, abortion, and other things that detract from the real business of making and following a budget?

How about all those shovel ready jobs? I am in construction and could sure use one. They are all just smoke and mirriors. How about the latest tax cut...$19.23 a week for 52 weeks? That will not even keep up with the rising cost of gas and food.

When are you people going to realize that the NDAA is a spending authorization act for the Department of Defense. It was CONGRESS who inserted the part that everyone is so upset about. Obama spoke against it and only signed the bill because we need to get the spending authorizations going in order to keep the various agencies operating...and that includes all of our military still fighting one of those wars that the last administration started, then abandoned to start the second unnecessary and unfunded war.

@anti-trust... B.S. Obama threatened to NOT sign the NDAA unless the provision allowing indefinite detention without due process was extended to include American citizens on American soil. Those are the facts. Even if what you claim was true (it's not) he still signed it knowing the provision was in there. Obama has had no problem holding up other spending legislation until he gets his way. Why not this bill? This provision is such a clear violation of our rights that Obama would not have signed the legislation if he was really against extending this provision to include American citizens on American soil. Are you really that dense? Or are you so afraid of admitting you were duped into supporting Obama that you are willing to sacrifice your integrity, honesty or anything else in order to not have to admit the truth?

These hastily added, under-the-radar provisions, co-sponsored by Senators John McCain and Carl Levin, would allow for the indefinite military detention of any person alleged to be a member of Al Qaeda, the Taliban or “associated forces.” The provisions also apply to any person who supports or aids “belligerent” acts against the United States, whether the person is apprehended beyond our borders or on domestic soil.

Obama is a usurper. The constitution requires that the president be a Natural Born citizen. A Natural Born citizen is someone who is born to citizens (note the plural use of the word) on U.S. soil. If there was no difference between a citizen and a Natural Born citizen why was the higher standard of Natural Born included in the constitution?

Nobody buys your stupid conspiracies because you have NO proof. Not one shred. Just a bunch of shrill crying. Just because you repeat a lie over and over won't ever make it true, pal.

You people can't attack him on anything truly substantial that is supported in fact. So you make up this imaginary "muslim-kenyan-marxist-whatever" person to attack. But that person isn't Obama it's just your imaginary friend that you guys pulled out of your collective schizophrenic imagination. And I mean that. Anyone who believes that tinfoil hat conspiracy b.s. is bordering on insane. Do you believe the moon landings were faked too?

Thank god the rest of the country isn't part of your Flat Earth Society-like nonsense. I look forward to people like you throwing even more frothing-at-the-mouth fits when Obama wins handily in November.

I think we have yet to find out what this alleged threat was. Until then we can't really say this kid ruined his life. Maybe he'll get a chance to have his side of it heard and actually get a chance to defend his actions. But I won't hold my breathe waiting for it. And really for intents and purposes this is still a kid. Old enough to drive, vote and sacrifice his life for his country. Not old enough to be able to drink, have decent insurance rates etc.. Science says young adults brains aren't even fully formed untill around 22 perhaps he can find a decent lawyer and use that as part of his defense. We have terrorist in custody that will probably get better legal counsel than he will. Since we're SOOO concerned about spitting on or desecrating the enemy.

Fox "News". The least factual source of News. The most biased source of News. I will never understand people who worship and defend a foreign Australian billionaire's "News" channel. The guy is caught up in a multitude of wiretapping and bribery to public officials charges. The only "News" channel to go to the Supreme Court to insist that lying in commentary is included in the First Amendment. Of course Roberts and Co. found it was, but only because Fox is on cable.

Does this seem like integrity in News? Do you trust that to tell you the truth?

AND...Roger Ailes DELIBERATELY uses his platform to mold these peoples opinions...

"People are afraid of Roger. Murdoch is, himself, afraid of Roger. He has amassed enormous power within the company – and within the country – from the success of Fox News."

Read about the GOP's dirty war against Obama

Fear, in fact, is precisely what Ailes is selling: His network has relentlessly hyped phantom menaces like the planned “terror mosque” near Ground Zero, inspiring Florida pastor Terry Jones to torch the Koran. Privately, Murdoch is as impressed by Ailes’ business savvy as he is dismissive of his extremist politics. "You know Roger is crazy," Murdoch recently told a colleague, shaking his head in disbelief. "He really believes that stuff."

The reporting is in the same line as yesterday someone was sentenced to 180. And according to msnbc Santorum is the former Pennslyvania.Who the new state of Pennslyvania is I don't know? No child left behind right.

Show us examples of this kind of hatred and threats against Obama. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2009/08/20/media-didnt-care-about-protest-signs-threatening-bush

"Prove there was a death threat or there wasn't and he's an innocent citizen detained through NDAA."

"Prove it was Osama bin-Laden that was killed and dumped in the ocean or it was a different body and a conspiracy."

"Prove that Obama wasn't born in Kenya and isnt a socialist Muslim hell bent on destruction of America."

"Prove that Obama didn't forge the birth certificate that's always been online, produced in actuality and vouched for by the REPUBLICAN Governor of Hawaii as authentic."

Sorry crazy people. The burden of proof is on YOU since you're making outlandish claims that are far more complicated and far less likely to be true than the official stories presented.

Prove you lunatics don't need hundreds of hours of therapy to get over all your misplaced rage for the President. Can't prove that one huh?

If the young man made threats then the threat was taken serious enough to arrest him, or you, or me just for our opposition, IF our opposition is not united and is too strong. I was always told you can be arrested for threatening the president, someone must have forgot to tell this young man the same. Sad for the times where people are so un satisfied with the way things are and the hope was 'change.' We got what we asked for even IF we didn't vote for him!

I believe those people who are spewing the negative comments are trying to split the country along racial lines. That would be a recipe for the destruction of the United States. Those of us who participated in this countrys wars so that all people of every racial persuasion could live comfortable lives, are not going to allow what ever wing you aspire too, to drive this country on a destructive path.

Google it he was from ND or Minn. There was also a school in ND that had a Statue of Bush and the students had to bow down to it everyday when they came to school. Google it you will find it. If that was happening with OBAMA you Republicans would be revolting. As far as disrespecting the POTUS ....I expect that people will always be disrepectful but not the people holding a public office. They are voted in to do a job by the people for the people. It is their JOB to get along, it is their JOB to set the example and be respectful. IT IS THERE JOB to work together. I have lost all respect for the republican party because they were voted in for JOBS not to rework the abortion laws, and what is the first thing they do....anything but jobs. They have also said no to many things they previously said they wanted to do to create jobs but because the president put them out there they said NO. You can't just say no to everything it doesn't work that way. We also balanced the budget with SS, medicare and medicaid on the table with Clinton. They need to figure out how to cut back somewhere else, and there are plenty of places to start.

Holds absolutely no water. Wouldn't matter the man's color - if he was white, pink, purple, green, or orange with chartreuse polka dots I'd STILL despise his leftist policies & his clueless commie administration. When this administration has spent more in three years than ALL presidential administrations beginning with Washington's all the way through W's combined & people don't see an issue with that, you know there's something wrong.

It's truly sad to me that our population has been SO dumbed down that it seems the majority of them cannot see what is going on in this country. We've been screwed over by the left, by the right, & everyone in between & all people can do is fight over partisan bull@!$%# & then whip out the race card. That is exactly what the powers that be want... a populace divided by race, politics, & class warfare.

Yes, I realize this is a novel concept for the bible thumpers, not getting their way in spite of the law, but if you don't draw the line - they'll be getting sharia law in Michigan before you can say "muhamed sucks".

If I wanted to make everyone listen to me praying to ALaLa - too bad for me. You don't want to hear it any more than a Jew would want to, any more than a Wiccan....and so on. Go to a private school if you want like minded folk. And don't ask for tax exempt status, I don't want my tax dollars going to some right wing mormon schooled nuts, or the like.

Going to be marching in front of courthouses? That's not illegal. Why would they put you in jail? As long as you weren't defacing public property or "threatening" anyone, march away.

But it does sound dramatic and all puffed up. Marching till you die, hunh? You promise? I thought you were moving to Cuba.

But when whites do the same thing to Obama, it is racist. I forgot, only white people can be racist in America. LOVE OBAMA AND VOTE FOR HIM OR YOU ARE A WHITE SUPREMICIST.

                                                                                      7. McCain and others slipped that in at the last minute, but since politicians like slipping crap into important bills that need to be passed, what is a person to do? Obama expressed his dissatisfaction and said he would afford Due Process to Americans.

                                                                                      8. Unclear on this one, but I am sure there is more to it than as cut and dry as you posted it.

                                                                                      9. Not true. Out of context.

                                                                                      10. I would rather everyone pay into health care. Not just us tax payers who get to fund all those uninsured hospital visits. Are there really people that like paying for others?

Bottom line is, your list is biased. Your first statement proves that. All Presidents are demons to some and saints to others. I am not saying Obama is either from my perspective, but I do understand that there are hundreds of other politicians making the laws and slipping in BS into bills that despite a Presidents better judgement, have to be signed.

Most people vote based on who can air the most commercials against their opponents. People have become too lazy to research anything themselves. If they can't find it on facebook, twitter or biased reporting, they don't even bother. Being spoon fed what they want to hear is all that matters to them.
