Subscribe to RSSHARRISBURG, Pa. -- A court filing Thursday by prosecutors in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case said that the alleged victims ranged in age from 8 to 17 and that crimes involving eight of the boys occurred on the Penn State University campus.
The attorney general's office issued a "bill of particulars" that said crimes involving one boy took place in Florida and Texas, while another boy was abused at his own school.
Two of the boys, identified in a grand jury report as Victim 2 and Victim 8, remain unidentified to authorities, according to the court filing.
In most cases, prosecutors said they could not provide specific dates, noting some crimes occurred over many years, and the alleged victims were children at the time.
The document, produced at the request of Sandusky's lawyer, discloses details of the allegations that might help them prepare a defense. Prosecutors said assaults happened from 1996 to 2009 and occurred at Sandusky's home, in State College hotels, at Penn State athletic facilities and inside a car.
For Victim 4, the attorney general's office said offenses took place in Florida in December 1998 and January 1999, when Penn State was playing in the Outback Bowl; and in Texas in December 1999, when Sandusky's final game occurred in the Alamo Bowl.
The reference to other states comes less than a week after Penn State disclosed a subpoena from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Harrisburg, concrete evidence that a federal investigation is under way.
Sandusky, 68 is confined to his home while he awaits trial on 52 criminal counts. He denies the allegations, and his lawyer did not immediately reply to a message seeking comment Thursday.
A spokesman for the attorney general's office declined comment.
On Wednesday, Judge John Cleland turned down Sandusky's request for a two-month delay that would have given them more time to prepare for trial. Cleland has tentatively scheduled trial to begin with jury selection on May 14.

I find it hard to believe that he suddenly stopped victimizing little boys in 2009. I'm thinking that there just haven't been anyone who was victimized since then, just hasn't reported it yet. If he is guilty, and I believe he is, I hope they throw the book at him.
Knowing his victims were as young as eight will help his defense - to convince the world that this guy needs to be alone forever.

If Sandusky is guilty, and only he and his victims would know, he should try to make amends. Come clean, accept responsibility for actions committed, ask for forgiveness to the victims and their families, and pay the price. Otherwise his life has meant nothing and memories of him will not be flattering.
If we can trust the testimony of eyewitnesses who saw Sandusky molesting children--and I see no motivation for those Penn State employees to make that up-- then there are more people than just Sandusky and his victims who know what he has done.
If ever a crime deserved the death penalty this is it. I can't wait for this scum bag to die.

I don't think that there is much love in Lion Country or Happy Valley for that matter. He was the cause of the downfall of their beloved Papa Joe. There is a special place in He** for men like this. They will take very good care of him there.
Whether he admits it or not his life will only mean that educated child molesters place themselves at jobs where they have access to young, impressionable, scared boys. There are only two alternatives. One is to let him get away with it. No tax pennies spent on prisons, judges, courtrooms, or police. You would be free of taxes, and the creep would be free to molest children.
The other alternative is to just kill anyone who is ever accused of anything. Get mad at your teacher for giving you a bad grade, accuse him or her of a bad act, and wham! They're dead.
People shining about wasting "tax dollars" need to educate themselves at least to the point of developing an opinion about what IS and what is NOT an appropriate way to raise and allocate public funds. (This means you, TP party.)

Yes putting him behind bars is worth it, but the process is ridiculous. This creep gets to stay at home, why?! He should have to pay for it, and when found guilty, he should pay for both prosecution and defense. He's got the money, that's why he gets to stay at home. This is taking waaaay to long. This country has got it's priorities out of whack and we fail to honor and protect the victims while looking out for the rights of the criminals, especially if the criminal is a public figure or famous in some way. If this was just some joe blow that no one knows they sure as hell wouldn't be sitting at home on their couch, they would be in a cell where they belong.

I feel your passion and on a personal level I strongly agree with your feelings and sense of moral disgust. The damage a pedoperp does is immeasurable within the lives of the victims. However, due process is a part of our democracy and I must respect that. There is a story on MSNBC, amazingly today, about a 37 year old mother and her 15 year old boy who killed what they thought was a 57 year old pedophile. At least it is what they are using as their excuse for killing him. Now, they find themselves being tried as having murdered.
Yes, the fact that they try to hide face to cover their perversion and still others would shield a perp. from prosecution makes it difficult to get a mirror in their face. Until they are confronted (a mirror, feedback) with the damage they have done in the lives of others with their selfish behavior.

What in the world is a ten year old child doing in a shower with this guy, on a college campus in the first place? Why would any parent allow this situation to happen? I remember knowing of pedophile priest as a child, but heaven knows you couldn't tell your parents about them, because they were men of god...

Bwanner: As a PSU grad, I feel like the trial should be held close to Happy Valley. The vast majority of people there are much more disgusted than the general population because his actions have besmirched an idyllic collegiate setting, and the reputations of everyone associated with PSU. The effect of all this on JoePa's career, reputation, and ultimately, health will be held against him. I do not expect him to walk...I expect the punishment to be extremely severe as the judge and jury try to salvage and start rebuilding the community. (At least, that's what I hope will happen, assuming he is found guilty).

Full agreement with all prior comments about Sandusky. One of my biggest irritations is that this guy is still allowed to be out of jail, but his time is coming - and SOON. A black cloud of shame to everyone, and I mean everyone, who was aware of this mans horrific actions, and turned their back either in denial or fear of retribution. The earliest victims are the victims of Sandusky alone, the later ones are victims of actions by Sandusky and inactions by everyone who knew or even suspected...all of you deserve the guilt...

Sandusky says he was just horsing around while naked with the boys (also naked) in the locker room shower area. He says he also had to teach many of them how to clean themselves properly. He's confessed enough (pre-trial) publicly to to at least be put away for child sexual molestation.
One day a genome will be identified that predispositions individuals for this behavior. The human race has stopped evolving (but that is a different topic), at one time during homo sapiens development Sandusky would have been identified and exterminated before he could reproduce thereby eliminating the defect from future generations.
Fortunately, he has no known siblings and no biological children.

I respectfully disagree. Please enlighten me how natural selection eliminates undesirable DNA, or enhances desirable DNA throughout the population. And please don't use the feeble argument of debilitating birth defects as there will always be anomalies in any population of data.
We now have the means to correct undesirable traits to the point were those people can function in society, they then reproduce passing those traits on. If you can think more than a few layers there is only one conclusion to be drawn. We are going backwards in regards to evolution.

Tom, that's exactly the reason I'm confounded by the judge's permission to allow him to post bail and remain under house arrest. With all the charges and severity of said charges looming all around him, he's a high risk for suicide unless, of course, his Narcissism is just too strong to allow him to even consider himself either at risk of conviction or remotely guilty, from his perspective, that is. Is he a flight risk? Who isn't when they're facing such serious charges? He's one man who should be behind bars this very minute because he is and will continue to be a threat to children and to himself.
Agreed. Sandusky should not under any circumstances be allowed to sit this out at home. He belongs in prison until the trial. I think the judge who allowed him house arrest is biased and should recuse himself.

If guilty the word is _IF with hardcord evidence, should be put away for good and also their parents along with him. Now come on what parent wouldn't know if their child was being molested. My children would come and tell me if a other parent would cuse at them, and I would have to go and check that parent. Ms Tucker, I had great parents and they never knew that I was being molested as a child. I guess unless you've been victimized like that, you just don't understand. Fear, shame, children do not rationalize like adults do. Those parents trusted Sandusky, thought he was helping their children. He was their coach. The whole community loved this guy. My parents taught me the same things that you taught your children, but I never told them what was happening to me, I thought they wouldn't believe and that I would be in trouble for lying about an adult, who would obviously deny it. Blame the only person here who is at fault, Sandusky.

I Find it very hard to believe that he knew nothing and even if he had some inclining of foul play, he should have done everything in his power, and he had a lot of it, to stop what was happening.
People need to stop making excuses for Paterno's lack of action when told that Sandusky was seen molesting a child. There is no excuse for that. You don't take that kind of info to a higher up at the school or to a board meeting. It is a violent crime. You immediately contact the police and stop the crime if you are able to. If I saw someone molesting a child in the bathroom at my office I would yell at them to stop, take the child with me as I called the police. I wouldn't walk away and go to my CEO's office to report it.
Yep, Joe Paterno's death was handy, wasn't it? Then Cardinal Bevilaqua dies just as the pedophile priest case is heating up. That was handy too! Turns out the cardinal had incriminating documents shredded back in 2004. Makes you wonder if anyone is watching out for the kids. Shame on anyone who covers these things up. I find it interesting that people are condemning JoePa for not reporting a rumor to the police (he had no knowledge of whether it was fact or not), while giving McQueary (the assistant who suposedly witnessed the incident) a free pass. It is McQueary who should have gone to the police, if anybody.
Also, everyone should keep in mind that Sandusky was investigated by the PA Attorney General for similar accusations in 1998-1999, and the result was that no charges were filed...for lack of evidence.

Like one of the comments before, all those that were aware and did as little as they could from school officicals to those outside of the university should feel the shame and punishment of these crimes. It amazes me as a man, the behavior of some people today not wanting to get involved. It really saddens me as guys that are or will be fathers someday do as little as possible to protect a defenseless child but then call themselves men...all for a ridiculous sport or to be part of the herd. Real men put things in perspective, stand up for right and do what is necessary not what is popular.
It also still amazes me with the number of cases involving sexual abuse of children that certain professions are not screened to prevent offenders from even having access. Teachers, coaches, law enforcement personnel should have better background checks and maybe even look at having psychological exams to weed out potential problems. Have parents reached an all time low that having all of life's spoils are less important than protecting their kids?
Let me first say that I think he probably did molest boys. I read another article yesterday that published the Bill of Particulars. I certainly hope they have a lot more than what is listed there. Two of the victims are unidentified - so how he would be convicted of those two, I have no idea. (One of these is the incident McQuery reported, but didn't actually see.) All of the rest state that they can't identify dates & times. The defense is going to have a field day. I could easily see him walking due to lack of evidence. (Not that he should go free).

we all know sandusky is guilty but look closer to the case it was known for years by now pa. gov corbett when he was attorney gen. that the abuse happened but instead of doing his job and protecting kids he looked to his political ambition to be gov .he left countless children be abused WHY isn't he being treated like an aided of child abuse????????

Bob: Very true! There's a LOT that stinks in this whole scenario, dating back to at least 1998. I have suspicions against all the Board of Trustees (who rushed into firing JoePa in an effort, I believe, to deflect attention from their own culpability) all the way through the attorney general to the governor's office.
I feel like this all sheds some light on the disappearance of Ray Griecar, who was the original Attorney general investigator in the 1998 incident, who decided not to press charges. Whether his (death?) or disappearance was the result of suicide or foul play was never determined, but I believe that he was either "silenced" or committed suicide out of remorse and guilt for not doing the right thing.
