Not all babies are ugly, however this one might be the product of inbreeding, I think Kentucky takes the prize for that.

Please collapse comment 1.1 I was under stress and not thinking clearly, thankfully after a doobie I have mellowed out and see the er of my earlier ways.

    Sorry for my insensitive remarks.

I love kids --I have four beautiful blond haired blue eyed angels and they were all ugly at birth. I don't know what it is but they look like little old cro-magna men up until two months of age---of course I loved them anyway! There is no chance of inbreeding since I am American while my husband is Irish. I think MOST babies are "ugly" but who cares, its just the way humans start out. Pretty soon their little personalities kick in and they are all gorgeous in their own way. Back on topic: Congratulations on the new bundle of joy.

Your statement is odd. This is a story about survival in a tornado and the birth of a beautiful child. I have three beautiful children - some are blue eyed and blond (which you seem to think is ideal) while I also have brown eyed and brown hair. They were all beautiful when they were born and more so today! They are as beautiful, inside and out, as well as well rounded. Band, Student Council, NJHS, Duke University program, Honors classes, Dance.. I could go on. The people affected by the tornadoes need our help, are you that short sighted? Tornadoes affect all economic levels. They will hit anyone! How would your blond haired blue eyed angels and you feel if your home and town was wiped out?

        #1.7 - Wed Mar 7, 2012 11:29 PM EST

Chris::: Children are not ugly when they are babies or even small tots. Heck, even baby pigs are cute. Then there are some children that are ugly when they are babies and never grow out of it.

Babies are wonderful, they are sweet little angels sent straight from above... But they are ugly for at least a few days. Period.

Chris you are either stupid or blind, this baby is NOT ugly

I have seven children, and never once did I look at my newborns and think they were ugly.

Shame on some of you guys, can you each post your newborn pics and let us vote on them. An if you don't have the facts on inbreeding, why say it. The child may not be a hero but it does have the luck of something on its side don't you think?

I cannot believe there are people who are calling the baby ugly. Didn't your mother teach you, "If you don't have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut." How can grow adults bully a newborn baby. Really everyone of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

How can we expect our children to not bully when the adults can't even control themselves.

Shame on all of you that critize the appearance of a newborn baby.

I dare any of you to show your post to your mothers.

They should have named the baby Dorothy, even if it's a boy.

Man.............. O.o what is with you people? Anyways I'm sure if anybody saw this baby on the street or in a grocery they'd say "Aww how cute" you guys are just being n00bs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! I am shocked at some of you. No, not really, just disappointed!

However, this amazing bundle of joy is adorable and had his arrival not occurred when it did, which is a blessing, it might have been much more than just a home lost. There might have been additional victims on that horrific day of weather. But instead of seeing the positive in this story you want to jump right to his looks with your hateful comments. Unbelieveable, you have to jump to a negative. No wonder society suffers from so many issues these days. Congratulations to the family on this new addition. He is handsome!

As Michelle stated above, were you not taught if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all? This is one of those times you should have kept your ugly comments to yourself.

I bet of all you making comments about ugly babies weren't so great looking yourself immediately after being born. All babies are beautiful to those that love them.

So they were planning to just sit in their tin can trailer while the tornado targeted their neighborhood? How about FEMA just distribute some shovels to middle America with an instruction sheet on how to dig a hole and make a weekend project storm shelter hole. Because clearly these people just cannot ahead of time fathom a tornado coming their way so must only sit in their trailer unless a baby forces them to be elsewhere?

Boy, we have an awful lot of mean spirited people in our world. No wonder the world looks ugly to some of them.

How can people say something negative about this? A new life came in the midst of complete destruction. While I am personally not into the whole "being blessed" thing, I think this grandmother's positive grateful attitude is wonderful! To be able to laugh and joke about losing all one's material goods is fabulous.

I wish the best to this family.

With all the negativity in the world lately, it is nice to see a story like this. Who cares if the baby is cute or ugly? A new life was brought into this world and THAT is always beautiful.

Everytime I see a newborn baby it reminds me of my own Noah who is 15 months old. I would guess that all people who call this baby ugly have yet to have the joy of having their own. It changes everything and makes all children more beautiful. Congrats to the family and wishing continued health for this baby girl.

Comments regarding this childs' appearance just shows how very shallow a lot of people truly are! I'm sure that, as a new mother, this lady's heart has to be going out to the extended family of little "Angel" (14 months old), who died as a result of the head injuries she suffered after being torn from her home and thrown 150 ft. (yds.?) or more by the violent winds, and the young mother who lost her legs as a result of debris hitting her while she threw her body across her blanket-wrapped children in their home.

Get real, "nay-sayers"...pull your radomes out of your exhaust areas and focus!

What on Earth is wrong with you people who are saying anything negative about this baby? For the record I am not related to this family, and I think he is darling! Obviously, any of you who think otherwise don't have children of your own or you just don't remember what they looked like in the days following the birth. Keep in mind that birth is very traumatic for the infant. If his head isn't perfectly shaped and his skin is red and blotchy, consider what he went through to get here, and know that in 6 weeks he will be soooooooooo cute. I wouldn't say he is a hero but I would say that his timing is already excellent! Congratulations to the family!

This story is about how fortunate is was that 2 (or 3 including the new baby) lives were spared, by having to go to the hospital because the woman was in labor!. What is wrong with discussions on this site? This trash is not worth my time to read. This is a reflection of uneducated people with a callus disregard for human life. I think I will start to read other sites as msnbc continues to post this trash!

After soaking in water for nine months and then squeezing out of a hole half the size of your body I can't imagine that anyone would be ready for a beauty contest in the "standards of beauty" humans have created for ourselves.

What makes babies beautiful is their vulnerability and sweet innocence that hasn't been tainted by the world - like those people judging their looks - yet.
