A 9-year-old girl with autism shot and killed her brother, police in Little Rock, Ark., said, adding that she initially claimed two men had done it.
Zeus Diviaio, 7, was shot in the chest in an apartment bedroom on Monday, NBC affiliate KARK TV reported.
The children's father described the girl as having "high functioning autism," the police report stated.
The father noted that the apartment door had been locked when he and his wife left briefly and that the daughter had a history of inventing stories, KARK stated.
Blood was found in another bedroom where the father kept guns in a case, and there was no sign of forced entry.
Prosecutors have yet to determine whether any charges will be filed.

If any charges are filed they need to be against the parents. There are no words to describe the lunacy of leaving kids (with or without mental disabilities) in an apartment alone with accessible firearms.
the father said the 9 year old had a" high functioning autism" Unfortunately, the adults are dysfunctional.......
The children shouldn't have been left home alone at all regardless of the firearm. That ups the anti but to leave a 9 year old in charge while the parents go out somewhere is ridiculous.
this is terrible.
Blame TV and Movie industry for Glamorizing Guns and Violence.
Gun owners need to secure their firearms and parents need to stop leaving their kids alone in the house.
SCAM ALERT: HIGH-FUNCTIONING AUTISM:
What a load of bull-crap.
I'll guarantee you that there is nothing wrong with this girl and the parents have found a friendly doctor to "diagnose" her with this so that they can collect $700 per month from the Gov. in SSI benefits.
The parents probably don't work and collect welfare or are pulling an SSI scam for themselves.
Anyone who knows them, please post.
This smells of a bunch of free-loading scam artists.
Local Guy, I cannot say how these parents support their family but I can say that I know of families that have children with high functioning autism that do not and have not applied to receive SSI or SSD for their children. I find it odd that people assume a family is on welfare simply because they own a gun or because they made the news.
Local Guy, both of my children have autism. And not the high functioning kind -- they are both severely disabled. And we don't get a check from the government. Whoever told you that parents with disabled children get government checks is a liar.
LOL @ Local Guy - No. That's not how it works. My youngest daughter has Asperger's (a form of autism) AND is hearing impaired (moderately deaf in one ear and severely deaf in the other). We get no monies from the State or Federal Govt. We receive no types of assistance. I looked into it once - she doesn't qualify. Somebody fed you a bunch of malarky.
Here are the parents: Judge for yourself.

She should be punished. Can't keep giving freebies to autistic kids.
In B4 libtards spamming gun control comments.
i know kids can get into most anything but why were thee loaded guns in a house with kids ,all my guns are loaded but i have no kids,my grandads guns were always loaded but i never fired one on accident
Gun owners please lock the gun away from anyone and making sure that they are the only one can get into their guns.
Billie.... thank you for a rational statement.
My sincere condolences to the family of the children. To lose a child is bad enough but to have the other responsible for the death is unimaginable.
Rest in peace little one.
What a horrible thing to happen. Rest in Peace little one. I've never seen the like of so-called 'parents' that just have a don't give a crap attitude about life & their kids. Most people don't deserve to have kids. Leaving accessiblity to guns, no trigger guards, leaving kids by themselves....... that is asking for trouble. The parents need to be punished for this. It's their fault. I can't even imagine what that little girl is thinking or going thru. I hope she can find comfort & peace.
I don't believe one word that comes out of this girls mouth. She knew what she was doing and killed her brother. She didn't panic when the gun went off and run for help or anything. But lied to everyone and said 2 men did it.To have a gun go off by accident is one thing but to point a gun at someone is another. She pointed that gun and shot her brother. She knew exactly what she was doing. But everyone will feel sorry for her.I say take a belt to her ass.I'm so sick of parents that are afraid of thier children.BS.I grew up with a smack to the ass and so did my children. We didn't go around stealing or hurting others.Stop feeling sorry for your children and being thier best friends and be a parent.
So conflicted. I'm heartbroken for the loss of this little boy and the trauma to the family. At the same time, I'm livid at the family for not keeping those guns safe from the kid's curious hands (please, tell me it was just childhood curiosity and not something more malicious).
My heart aches and my mind reels.
