A cash-strapped Little League in Los Angeles County will return a surprise $1,200 donation from a strip club that appeared to save its season.
League President Roberto Aguirre said the league's board of directors decided to return the money donated two weeks ago by Jet Strip gentlemen's club, according to the Daily Breeze newspaper of Torrance, Calif.
Little League decides to turn down donation from strip club
The league needs the money to rent fields from the Lennox School District, which doubled fees to play on its baseball diamonds. As news of the strip club's donation spread, contributions came from around the country. Aguirre said the league still needs help.
Lennox is a poor, unincorporated neighborhood near the Los Angeles International Airport. The league offers a payment plan so families can afford the annual $85 per-player fee.

No more T&A for T-Ball? Say it isn't so!
The money from the strip club comes from men in the neighborhood, or do they not realize that?
Yukon - Religion is like a di ck. It's nice to have one, it's great to be proud of it. But don't shove it down my throat.
Then let the men in the hood donate the money to the league and not to the T&A!
Just say'n
Yet they probably aren't afraid to take money from a bar/eating establishment that serves liquor. Let's see... Which is going to hurt my kid the worse; booze or breasts? Our priorities are soooo messed up.
Self righteous ass wipes. Bet some of those coaches have been in the club and getting more than lap dances!
Well, what is wrong with that. The article doesn't mention any requests for favors. Our politicians accept donations for favors from politically correct corporations all the time and look at the mess we are in. Hmmm, I wonder how many of those voting on this issue can honestly say they never have had an encounter with a prostitute. Our victorian morality is really all about hypocrisy.
If you take all the property that is owned by all the different Religion's and made them pay porperty tax
we would not even have this problem. The towns would have the money.
TAX THEM ALL JUST LIKE THE REST OF US!!!
I bet all those little leaguers are mad..not because they are returning the sponsor money..but most times after a win the team goes to the sponsors place to celebrate..I'll be mad too in this case.
There's more sinners then saints in this world!
so, beggars CAN be choosers?
Our Country is so uptight...it's just nudity people. We can show as much violence as possible on TV, but you let a nipple slip or something and it is a catastrophe.
I think we are not being very supportive of the single Mothers that have donated money for the sons to play ball. After all these are the future customers for there daughters.
IMHO the little league should have kept the original donation. The community already made the decision that the strip club was an acceptable form of business when they issued the business and liquor licenses. Its not like the owners are demanding the kids walk around with "Jet Strip - Strip Club" plastered on the back of their uniforms.
It could be a lot worse.
The little league in my town actually has as sponsors, get this, 3 different groups of lawyers.
Did anyone read the story at all? They are paying back the 1,200 not just because of the principal of a strip club donating it, but because of the amount of donations that have come from across the country after the original story was published, so they have the money. Just love how some people can't stand it when other think for themselves and bash them for doing so. silly of me to think only religious people did that, ya freaking nitwits.
Sanctimonious tools. Funny that this foul and sinful establishment was the FIRST one to act in a charitable manner on behalf of these poor kids. Only then did the "clean" donations start to pour in. Disgusting.
So, Rw, here's the problem though. People across the country decided to donate because of a news article. They didn't donate because they cared about the little league. Those donations will dry up when this story is no longer popular. Generally when people to donate to a particular cause because some other organization they disagree with donated, those donations don't last very long. So, they should have probably kept the money in anticipation of the dry out.
@RwEvans when you call people names (nitwits) maybe you should read the article first yourself. As news of the strip club's donation spread, contributions came from around the country. Aguirre said the league still needs help.
This donation came from a legitimate business, not a drug cartel. The strip club wasn't after publicity on this and the General manager said they keep quiet about these donations. They aren't looking for publicity. This is nuts.
The funny thing is, the strip club has donated money to the league before.
Why is the money no good all of a sudden???
Typical cut your nose off to spite your face logic on the part of a bunch of self righteous losers. Explain to your kids why they can't play ball because the money coming from a club where women take their cloths off is bad. They will laugh at you. Maybe not to your silly faces, but they will be laughing at you inside. Why not take the money in the spirit it was offered. You people make me want to vomit. You are the worst kind of filth walking the earth. Why not take the example Jesus did with Mary Magdelline? Why not take the money and put it to a good use instead of judging the people who donated it? Are you not comitting a sin by judging them, you walking pieces of human garbage? God is watching and he will judge you...judge not lest you be judged. Maybe you should have paid attention in sunday school.
I could not have said it better myself...
judging? If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck . . . they are strippers! they are not judging they are what they are a strip club of perverted men paying women to take their clothes off. Would you accept money from terrorists, gangs, murderers, KKK, Nazi's, prostitutes etc just because you would say "How generous we will accept it for the kids" Lest you learned anything in sunday school
Galations 5:19 Now the works of the aflesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, bfornication, cuncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, astrife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, bdrunkenness, crevellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But its okay to accept their money? That is being a two face Mudrake.
Your ignorance of Scripture is apparent. You use one verse out of context and ignore a multitude of verses concerning immorality and sexual sin that undermine your comments. If you don't believe the Bible, that's fine, but don't use it when you think it's convenient. My hat is off to these folks!
What a @!$%#ing sick comment.
yukon,
Labeling strippers as nazis and terrorists is like saying all christians are cocksucking child molesters.
Only the label about christians is far more accurate.
ignorance of scripture?, Ill give you just one " But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matt 5:27-28).
Maybe wipe your chin after you type, yukon.
Nice language izmee, I bet you jack off, smoke and tell your kids its okay no to go to church because we know it all. Bytheway you uneducated bafoon, Im not sure if you can read but I never said strippers are terrorists or Nazi's so read this slowly and carefully or get your leap frog reader out and scan this sentence "Would you accept money from terrorists, gangs, murderers, KKK, Nazi's, prostitutes etc" because as long as we do they will continue to exist and the scripture mentions all of this as wrong. If you deny that sentence then you just slated yourself in that category.
You're equating strippers with nazis, thats kind of the problem. That kind of stupid hate is why so many people dont like listening to christians spew their @!$%#.
I wiped my ass with your scripture this morning so I could care less what your garbage book says.
Child molesters justify themselves much like you are doing. Might want to look into that before law enforcement knocks on your door.
Btw, you should probably pray to my logo here as it is jesus. He told to tell you he's now on my dogs butt.
My question is, why isn't the real story why a public school district is doubling the fees for a little league to play on their fields? Was there some huge increase in insurance costs?
Yukon, if you are a true Christian then you believe that through humane and ritceous actions, you should try to bring others close to Christ. You just did completely the opposite. Great job!About what we'd expect.
mudrake2, but arent YOU judging the little league board? and if a story like this makes you "want to vomit", you should go back to the Bible and read about forgiving and judging others.
@ mudrake2- and maybe you should shut your trap and get back up on that pole, !@#$.
izmee, you are my new second-favorite poster!
sorry but yukon is the typical christian only acting christ like when it's convenient. just look at the it's third post. not a very christian attitude. it's what turns most people off to the religious. save your scripture for someone who gives a **** about it. the big difference between those terrorists and gangs and the strip club, the strip club is a legal business.
mudrake2........ well said
Gee it's gonna be expensive to now hire a team of investigators to man every salvation army donation pot at Christmas to determine if the person donating is a stripper, adulter, nazi, racist, criminal, etc. To all you hypocritical Christians out there who give my Christianity a bad name heres a little scripture for you "judge not lest ye be judged" or how bout some words from The Man himself "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." I got a news flash for you: YOU ARE NOT CHRISTIAN! Maybe take the time to not only read the bible but to try to understand it's message instead of judging and casting that stone.
@Mudrake2. Does not sound like you paid to much attention in Sunday School, Your Sounding pretty judgemental yourself
I'll bet that same little league took donations from complete strangers who they had absolutely no idea what their background check might have revealed. What a bunch of hypocrites.
Really I think the Little League had no choice. There would be sooo many parents and holy rollers up im arms about accepting money from a strip club. We have to preserve our children's morals you know.
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." While I'm no Bible scholar, this passage from Matthew seems pretty reasonable. So some sinners, and aren't we all sinners if you believe in that sort of thing, decide it's the right thing to do to help the youth of the community, and save the day for the little league baseball program. The self righteous board of directors of the little league decide they can't take the money and perhaps the season is lost. When these bored kids this summer decide to steal a car, rob the old lady down the street, or dabble in drugs, I hope these self serving, holier than thou folks are happy.
Perfectly said Mudrake
Just goes to show morality means more to some than self pitied ignorance.
A lot of good women put their kids through school, by shakin their a$$ on the dancing pole!
LMAO - i've heard that one before. LMAO.
And let me tell you I've seen some spectacular moves done by Women on the dancing pole.
Pole dancing is good exercise, and it isn't easy.
That donation had more honest sweat and possibly blood than any of the other donations.
Depends on the time of the month.......sorry had to be said =)
jpeyton76: *chuckle* and *groan*
What a bunch of rubbish! I agree totally with mudrake2. Take the money in the spirit in which it was offered. I'm sure it was the adults who made this decision, not the kids - they just want to play their sport. In my opinion, it's the parents who are bad role models in this case.
It's a donation from a legal business. Take the check, say thank you, and go on with your life. What's next, turning down a donation from McDonald's because they sell unhealthy food?
Yeah!!That's right!! take no money from godless restauranteurs!
Funny, we didn't hear about the local churches making a donation for the children.
Seriously? It's not like they were requiring their logo on the t-shirts for the kids. Hopefully, all the people who think its terrible that the money came from a strip club will ante up to make up for what the team is losing.
Little League knows what nobama doesn't. Maher's money is dirty money. Return it.
As soon as all the politicians in the Repug party return the countless millions they've received from the scum-sucking Koch brothers then the money that Bill Maher donates may be pertinent.
Why don't both of you take it somewhere else? Y'all get boring after a while. You can only see so many sheep before you get sick of them.
If you don't like it you could always leave nosferatu, I doubt many would miss you.
Now you sir are a moron.
This story has nothing to do with politics. Like Nosferatu said, take it somewhere else.
Don't like the comments then either hit ignore, report, or don't bother reading them.
You're out of line and we're trying to be nice about it. But, hey, thanks for the idea.
Could care less whether you approve of my response to the original message, it's not my concern in even the slightest whether you're interested in it.
Cool, let's make a moral statement by spiting the kids. Way to go board of directors. STAY CLASSY LENNOX!
Whats wrong with Tits for Hits?
...or how about bunts for ...
Relievers for beavers?
This made me laugh. Thank you.
heres an old proverb for ya.........beggers arnt choosers!
Here is some “data” for “Miriam” and others like her. The data is mine, gathered over 45 years of attention and study of the phenomenon which is man’s massive pollution of his planet. I troubled myself, additionally, to learn the science and the mathematics necessary to understand what I wanted to know – unlike most, if not all of the people writing here. My life-long avocation, if you must, is science, physics, and mathematics; while most watch or play sports, watch television or go to movies, and rely upon the latter for most of their science, I have attended college classes and done research related to my interests for fifty-five years. It does make a difference, believe it or not.
1. In the last 35 to 40 years, seven of the worlds largest iceshelves have reduced in area by 14,500 square kilometers. That fact is learned several ways – one from looking by satellite, another by going to the places (in my case Greenland, and the North Polar ice cap).
2. Antarctica provides science with the best data scientists have concerning the impact of global warming on the planet’s oceans. For a variety of complex reasons too voluminous for this space, this part of the world is abnormally effected by global warming, and whilst the globe as a whole has not heated up that severely
in recent times (you can’t just walk out and stick your toe in the ocean as one writer here has suggested), this region has gotten a lot warmer. While I have not been there, several agencies to who I made continual inquiries report that the global warming effect on Antarctica is five times as strong as anywhere else. In the last 45 years, the continent there has experienced a warming of around 4.5F, or 2.5C. For that one, you use a device called a thermometer (not your toe, and not what Oprah reports).
3. The famous – for people who bother to know, that is - Larsen B ice shelf has lost 3,250 square
kilometers in the last 50 years. In 1995, 1995 square kilometers disintegrated suddenly, and between January and February, 2002, the northern section of the shelf disintegrated. That has never happened before in modern times, and using basically the thermometer, scientists and those who pay more attention to science than they do to the super bowl or soap operas know that the southern oceans are warming swiftly. Recent measurements from the Southern Ocean waters around Antarctica have shown an increase of 0.3F, or 0.17C in the average ocean temperature between the 50s and the 80s. The global warming effect on Antarctica is rapidly decreasing the continent’s ice-thickness. The permanent ice cover, for instance of the Antarctic island
Signey has decreased almost fifty percent in the last 60-65 years.
4. Wildlife scientists also are telling us the effects of planet warming. Large numbers of Antarctic penguins have experience not only large decreases, but precipitous ones. The population of the ubiquitous Antarctic penguin, for instance, the Adelie Penguin, has reduced by more than 33% in the last 25 years.
And why do we all care? Well, just for another instance – to discuss the whole matter in any scientific detail here is impossible – collapse and subsequent melt of the West Antarctic ice sheet would raise sea levels by as much as 19 feet (5.8 meters. Make no (silly on account of being no better informed that political blather and ideology will permit) mistake, the effects of global warming in Antarctica will eventually reach all of us in the U.S. and elsewhere in the Northern Hemisphere. That’s why I bother to write here, knowing that a debate like this started first when Eratosthenes first said the earth was a sphere and computed how big a sphere it was. It, no doubt, continued even at the time of Columbus when most people - like some here (most of homo sapiens, you know isn't that "sapiens") - thought the planet (the word was also unknown then) was flat.
No idea what any of that has to do with returning a strip club's funding of a little league team, but...
In Columbus' day, most of the world did NOT think the world was flat! Columbus proposed that it was SMALLER than most people suspected, and that thus he could sail to the far east in a reasonable period of time. He was wrong. The world was as large as most people thought, BUT there was a whole unknown continent between Europe and the far east, so he lucked out and became famous!
Posted to the wrong story.
ROFL - Hey knucklehead, ever heard of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics? Global warming/Climate change is total bull.
Um, what? You're quoting the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics as a reason that global warming/climate change is BS? Do you even know what that law states? The Earth is receiving heat from an EXTERNAL source, and SOME of it escapes into space. The overall temperature of the Earth depends upon which of those values, over time, is greater. If more escapes into space than is received, then the Earth (overall) cools. As happened on Mars. If less of that energy escapes than is received, then the Earth warms, as happened on Venus. The Earth is NOT a closed system, and the issue of global warming has nothing to do with the 2nd Law. Please read it, and understand it, before using it to claim that someone ELSE is a knucklehead.
Yukon, you're seriously comparing stripper to Nazi's and murderers? You say you're not judging them- just stating the fact that they 'take their clothes off for money' but obviously you hold yourself in higher regard for *not* being a stripper. Get off your high horse.
Shame on them! Kind hearted, hard working women tried to help a bunch of children and were shunned for it. I hope no one else contributes to this fund. I would love to be there when Mr. Aguirre has to explain to a bunch of crying children and angry parents that there baseball season has been cancelled because he is too good to take tainted money!!
So to spite the dousche bags that won't take the money, you are actually HOPING that the kids don't get what they need. So....hurt the kids to make the dumb azz person who made the decision feel guilt? Great idea
I don't think he's truly hoping for that. He's just saying he'd like to be there when it happens. Just a fact since they're broke and not accepting the money.
Sex, alcohol, and violence will be a part of us forever. That the money comes from a strip club is not a problem... it is more - how do you tell these children where it came from?
Would that upset the kids themselves? Their parents? Would that cause some kind of backlash from other organizations?
As well intentioned as it is, the league is probably playing a politcal game here. Chances are they recieved even more money after making the announcement.
who said the kids needed to be informed? do they know who else donates? do they know how much some business' charge them for renting hte fields? why do folks need to 'rent' them fields? why not just let them play for free? it is the crooks who need to take money from kids organazations that should be highlighted, not the legitimate companies who try to do the right thing!!!
In my day, if they told us we were being helped by a strip club, I guarantee you, there'd be a bunch of thrilled 10 and 11 year olds.
Does anyone want to discuss how the situation should play out if the teams were the Bobby Sox?
I don't know about Lennox, but I do know that their are coed Little League and AAU teams.
But why is this relevent? The donation was made in a spirit of supporting the local community, from where at least part of the business derives its profit. As to the nature of the business, it is legal and regulated. Oddly, I've seen more skin on Florida beaches than in the "strip clubs" of my youth. And those clubs never led me to an encounter with a prostitute or a dancer.
The league should have kept the money for next year, when things will be back to normal and NOONE will care about the Lennox Little League. Who knows, Jet Strip might have even helped again next year.
Tell me where I can send a donation! These kids learned a lesson many adults will NEVER learn. I commend and applaud the league/team officials that made this decision. I'm dead serious about wanting to know where I can donate to a fund that will first go to the league in the artical. New field, lights, bats and balls. Then take whatever is left and on a continuing basis donate to a fund to help teams/leagues needing help with their program. If we can give all the money donated for political purposes we can surely help our kids with $5 or $10 bucks.
hypocrite!!!
how come you didnt send the money when the original story broke! it wasnt until the little league had other donations that allowed them to be pius... if it was taking money from legitimate business'/strip clubs, or shut the doors and send the kids to the street gangs, would you still support returning the money??? or would you want the kids to enjoy the new uniforms and playing on legitimate basebaall fields???
and if business like the strip club cant donate money and get tax breaks then why should they be in business, and or pay full tax just because organizations dont need their support?
There's another idea. Why don't they just go door to door and collect donations from all the local Lennox gang bangers and drug dealers. God knows those people have lots of hidden cash reserves and could probably save the league. Their money is just as green as anyone else's.
pretty close suggestion.. how about the little league organizers spend more time searching out other donations.... how about the news outlets paying them sponsorship?? no??? at least they write articles so they can get public sentiment against the strip club owners/patrons/employees who have kids in that little league?
it's easy to comeup with a news story that tugs at heart strings, compared to actually spending some phone time and walking time to go door to door to some other business'
Just a thought here - I haven't read all the comments.
As a business owner, if I gave $1200 to a little league organization I'd like my business name on the outfield fence.
I don't think there's a little league in this country willing to advertise a strip club where 8-year-olds play baseball. My money is on the possibility that they wanted their name everywhere, or it could just be that they got so much flak from the public about the acceptance of money from a controversial business.
Ben
www.benonbeer.com
the orignal story indicated that the strip club did this annonymously, and didnt really want any publicity out of the deal!!!!
the little league is bowing down to PC world.. and they can cause the story ended up getting more donations... if no one else contributed, and the little league was truly forced to take the money and or send the kids to the street, then I would be teh first to watch teh organizers get lynched for failing the kids!!!
Ben...no strings attached...no logo requirements..no signs...no shirts advertising the club...just a donation ...that's all... Just a donation so the kids would have a chance to play ball.
How about some cheerleaders at a game or two?
Then lets learn about playing ball and the grass on the infield rule..
Ben on Beer,
I think what you're missing here is that many of the women that work at that club probably are mothers of the kids playing baseball. So what are you going to do about that? Ban and kid from playing ball if their mother is a stripper???
Ben on Beer - if that's your business name, there are probably parents out there they don't want to be promoting drinking to their little babies.
Who turns down money these days?
Unrighteous fools. A legal business wants to give a donation for Little league and they refuse. I guess those terrible men who frequent strip clubs money is useless.
Glass Houses people. Beggars can't be choosey. I guess the Little Leaugers can though. Too bad
Their money has also been refused in the past by Special Olympics, Make a Wish, and the Red Cross...pride goeth before the fall....me...I'm thinkin' I would be a little teed off if my kid couldn't play ball because people dissapproved of the source.
America is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO prude..... but behind the closed doors......WATCH OUT!
It makes me sick
what an awful country, they have no money to help the kids and these guys fork up $1200 to just be returned? i can't believe i live here anymore. time to go.
no one should donate any more money to that organization.. PERIOD.... they returned teh money cause other folks chose to support them... and now they dont need the money... If the leaders of that organization truly had to close the doors and send the kids home or onto the streets, or take strip club money, I wonder if they would still make that choice and if they do, then let the kids suffer at the hands of the little league organizers... not because of a lack of support...
it is prudes like those little league organizers that are sending the wrong message... and taking support money from legitimate business' is totally acceptable...
PLEASE do not support teh little league... please please please... and if you do, tag the donation from a non PC name... and let them choose to use the money for good or to send the kids onto the street gangs.
Wow jumpin, I'm glad my kids aren't affected by the decisions you choose to make.
Yes the little league is ignorant and so are all of you trying to take the "high road".
And the winner of the "dumbest post ever" category goes to.... Jumpintoconclusions! with their ridiculous post regarding little league donations.... Yes, lets screw it up for the kids cuz the parents are lame, real smart.
you can choose to do that, or you can choose to get better coaches and 'little league leaders'...
turning down money when their only other choice is to shutter the doors/fields is stupid... taking the 'high road'??? please.... it is the LL organizers who chose to do that, and they got graced by the media so they can garner more money.......
let the organizers not get any press, and let them suffer from their choices... like a majority of other organizations do that arent in todays headlines
So the kids suffer because the parents and leaders are asses. Great way to raise your kids. These people need to be beaten with bats by the kids.
The American Taliban strikes again!
If you are not accepting the donation from the strip club, then I want my donation back too.
I do find it pretty hypocritical that they took the money, then when it got national attention and caused a flood of money from other sources, they slapped down their original savior.
This seems like a stupid move by the board.
The club is a legal business, making a legal donation to children in need.
