Subscribe to RSSA cash-strapped Little League in Los Angeles County will return a surprise $1,200 donation from a strip club that appeared to save its season.
League President Roberto Aguirre said the league's board of directors decided to return the money donated two weeks ago by Jet Strip gentlemen's club, according to the Daily Breeze newspaper of Torrance, Calif.
Little League decides to turn down donation from strip club
The league needs the money to rent fields from the Lennox School District, which doubled fees to play on its baseball diamonds. As news of the strip club's donation spread, contributions came from around the country. Aguirre said the league still needs help.
Lennox is a poor, unincorporated neighborhood near the Los Angeles International Airport. The league offers a payment plan so families can afford the annual $85 per-player fee.

Well, what is wrong with that. The article doesn't mention any requests for favors. Our politicians accept donations for favors from politically correct corporations all the time and look at the mess we are in. Our Country is so uptight...it's just nudity people. We can show as much violence as possible on TV, but you let a nipple slip or something and it is a catastrophe.
I think we are not being very supportive of the single Mothers that have donated money for the sons to play ball. After all these are the future customers for there daughters.
IMHO the little league should have kept the original donation. The community already made the decision that the strip club was an acceptable form of business when they issued the business and liquor licenses. Its not like the owners are demanding the kids walk around with "Jet Strip - Strip Club" plastered on the back of their uniforms.

Did anyone read the story at all? They are paying back the 1,200 not just because of the principal of a strip club donating it, but because of the amount of donations that have come from across the country after the original story was published, so they have the money. Just love how some people can't stand it when other think for themselves and bash them for doing so. silly of me to think only religious people did that, ya freaking nitwits.
Sanctimonious tools. Funny that this foul and sinful establishment was the FIRST one to act in a charitable manner on behalf of these poor kids. Only then did the "clean" donations start to pour in. Disgusting.
So, Rw, here's the problem though. People across the country decided to donate because of a news article. They didn't donate because they cared about the little league. Those donations will dry up when this story is no longer popular. Generally when people to donate to a particular cause because some other organization they disagree with donated, those donations don't last very long. So, they should have probably kept the money in anticipation of the dry out.

This donation came from a legitimate business, not a drug cartel. The strip club wasn't after publicity on this and the General manager said they keep quiet about these donations. They aren't looking for publicity. This is nuts.

My question is, why isn't the real story why a public school district is doubling the fees for a little league to play on their fields? Was there some huge increase in insurance costs?

Really I think the Little League had no choice. There would be sooo many parents and holy rollers up im arms about accepting money from a strip club. We have to preserve our children's morals you know.

While I'm no Bible scholar, this passage from Matthew seems pretty reasonable. So some sinners, and aren't we all sinners if you believe in that sort of thing, decide it's the right thing to do to help the youth of the community, and save the day for the little league baseball program. The self righteous board of directors of the little league decide they can't take the money and perhaps the season is lost. When these bored kids this summer decide to steal a car, rob the old lady down the street, or dabble in drugs, I hope these self serving, holier than thou folks are happy.

What a bunch of rubbish! I agree totally with mudrake2. Take the money in the spirit in which it was offered. I'm sure it was the adults who made this decision, not the kids - they just want to play their sport. In my opinion, it's the parents who are bad role models in this case.
It's a donation from a legal business. Take the check, say thank you, and go on with your life. What's next, turning down a donation from McDonald's because they sell unhealthy food?

In Columbus' day, most of the world did NOT think the world was flat! Um, what? You're quoting the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics as a reason that global warming/climate change is BS? Do you even know what that law states? The Earth is receiving heat from an EXTERNAL source, and SOME of it escapes into space. The overall temperature of the Earth depends upon which of those values, over time, is greater. If more escapes into space than is received, then the Earth (overall) cools. As happened on Mars. If less of that energy escapes than is received, then the Earth warms, as happened on Venus. The Earth is NOT a closed system, and the issue of global warming has nothing to do with the 2nd Law. Please read it, and understand it, before using it to claim that someone ELSE is a knucklehead.

I don't think he's truly hoping for that. He's just saying he'd like to be there when it happens. Just a fact since they're broke and not accepting the money.
Sex, alcohol, and violence will be a part of us forever. That the money comes from a strip club is not a problem... it is more - how do you tell these children where it came from?
Would that upset the kids themselves? Their parents? Would that cause some kind of backlash from other organizations?
As well intentioned as it is, the league is probably playing a politcal game here. Chances are they recieved even more money after making the announcement.
who said the kids needed to be informed? do they know who else donates? do they know how much some business' charge them for renting hte fields? why do folks need to 'rent' them fields? why not just let them play for free? it is the crooks who need to take money from kids organazations that should be highlighted, not the legitimate companies who try to do the right thing!!!
In my day, if they told us we were being helped by a strip club, I guarantee you, there'd be a bunch of thrilled 10 and 11 year olds.

I don't know about Lennox, but I do know that their are coed Little League and AAU teams.
But why is this relevent? The donation was made in a spirit of supporting the local community, from where at least part of the business derives its profit. As to the nature of the business, it is legal and regulated. Oddly, I've seen more skin on Florida beaches than in the "strip clubs" of my youth. And those clubs never led me to an encounter with a prostitute or a dancer.
The league should have kept the money for next year, when things will be back to normal and NOONE will care about the Lennox Little League. Who knows, Jet Strip might have even helped again next year.
Tell me where I can send a donation! These kids learned a lesson many adults will NEVER learn. I commend and applaud the league/team officials that made this decision. I'm dead serious about wanting to know where I can donate to a fund that will first go to the league in the artical. New field, lights, bats and balls. Then take whatever is left and on a continuing basis donate to a fund to help teams/leagues needing help with their program. If we can give all the money donated for political purposes we can surely help our kids with $5 or $10 bucks.

how come you didnt send the money when the original story broke! it wasnt until the little league had other donations that allowed them to be pius... if it was taking money from legitimate business'/strip clubs, or shut the doors and send the kids to the street gangs, would you still support returning the money??? or would you want the kids to enjoy the new uniforms and playing on legitimate basebaall fields???
and if business like the strip club cant donate money and get tax breaks then why should they be in business, and or pay full tax just because organizations dont need their support?
There's another idea. Why don't they just go door to door and collect donations from all the local Lennox gang bangers and drug dealers. God knows those people have lots of hidden cash reserves and could probably save the league. Their money is just as green as anyone else's.

As a business owner, if I gave $1200 to a little league organization I'd like my business name on the outfield fence.
I don't think there's a little league in this country willing to advertise a strip club where 8-year-olds play baseball. My money is on the possibility that they wanted their name everywhere, or it could just be that they got so much flak from the public about the acceptance of money from a controversial business.

the orignal story indicated that the strip club did this annonymously, and didnt really want any publicity out of the deal!!!!
the little league is bowing down to PC world.. and they can cause the story ended up getting more donations... if no one else contributed, and the little league was truly forced to take the money and or send the kids to the street, then I would be teh first to watch teh organizers get lynched for failing the kids!!!

I think what you're missing here is that many of the women that work at that club probably are mothers of the kids playing baseball. So what are you going to do about that? Ban and kid from playing ball if their mother is a stripper???

I do find it pretty hypocritical that they took the money, then when it got national attention and caused a flood of money from other sources, they slapped down their original savior.
