A woman from Nigeria passed these pellets of heroin, federal authorities allege.
A record was set at Dulles Airport over the weekend: the most heroin ever recovered there from a human stomach.
Please don't try this one at home. (Or at the airport. Definitely not at the airport.)
On Saturday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a Nigerian woman who'd allegedly ingested 180 thumb-sized pellets of heroin.
That amounts to 4 pounds, 12 ounces.

Bola Adebisi, 52, arrived at Dulles from Nigeria on Wednesday, March 14. During a secondary inspection, Adebisi said she was going to stay with her brother, but was unable to provide her brother’s address, phone number or physical description, authorities said.
During a routine patdown, a female CBP officer noticed that Adebisi’s stomach was abnormally rigid, and an X-ray at a local hospital discovered some hidden cargo, authorities said.
By the time an affidavit was submitted for criminal charges, Adebisi had passed a number of pellets that had a combined weight exceeding 100 grams, authorities said. She remained in the hospital until Saturday night, when X-rays confirmed she'd passed them all.
Adebisi will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
"The amount of pellets and heroin this woman ingested is incredible, a serious health risk, and very troubling if these numbers become the new normal," said Christopher Hess, CBP Port Director for the Port of Washington, D.C.
The previous largest "internal pellet seizure" at Dulles was March 30, 2011, according to CBP. A 46-year-old Nigerian man was arrested after expelling 100 pellets of heroin with a combined weight of a little more than four pounds.

The part of the story that scares me is, all she need was a address, phone number and a general description of any Nigerian man and she would have walked. And it would be on the streets of DC as we speak.
The worst job..........being the guy that has to catch the pellets as they pass.

The newest requirement for any foreign nationals entering the U.S. from Nigeria, will be a required 24 hour stay in a secure holding room preceded by a medically induced bowel cleansing agent, with the passing of waste in a five gallon bucket. Following that, any contraband will be meticulously cleaned BY any individual passing said contraband to the satisfaction of the attending authorities.
.........and make sure you bring fresh underwear, and be sure to use that free phone call to tell your "Momma" that you won't be coming home...............ever.
It appears the laws aren't tough enough, apparently, and YES, racial profiling IS effective as a deterrent whether it is used or not. As long as THEY BELIEVE it's being used.

Er, the article said they were doing a routine patdown when it was noticed her stomach was rigid. So even if she'd had the information, that stomach rigidity would still have been picked up. Thank the Customs person who caught it.
How desperate was this woman that she would risk her life, health, and safety doing this? Does someone in Nigeria have her child or a family member as a hostage saying do this or we'll kill them? Is she a willing participant or was she terrified into cooperating? Is she trafficked or is she a mule? Did she even know what it was she was ingesting? Was she forced to swallow them?
There are a lot of unanswered questions about this.

I mean, yes, I know, most drug smugglers are idiots. But come on now, for a dealer to be able to afford THAT MUCH heroin, they had to be pretty high up on the totem pole. They had to have been able to understand that the woman might be questioned. WTF!

statistically, heroin is still very low on the abuse list for opiates, big pharma is still the #1 drug dealer in america.

When I came back from Panama, I was patted down leaving there. Being male, it didn't bother me too much. The "screener" was one very seriously good looking young lady.

When I went thru the Lagos airport, it was the same as going thru a stateside airport. It was locals running the screening however.

Simpler solution......hit the person in the stomach, rupture about 4 pellets and call me in the morning. Less court time, less law enforcement time, and one less drug mule who will probably repeat the same thing at a later time. Or use a small laser to put down their throat and laser open about 4 packages, drink a little water and call me in the morning, same result just more medical expense than hitting them in the stomach. Oh, yeah, first have them drink a large glass of ice water to make the pellets more brittle then...hit them in the stomach.
Stop wasting our time on thes people, if Nigeria isnt robbing identities, they're bringing in drugs.

To the dealer,the goods are more valuable then her.She would have probably made 20 years worth of normal wages for the run.I actually feel bad for her if she is just a mule,but I guess my feelings would depend on her cooperation.Just send her back,don't need to feed her for next bunch of years in our prison on our dime.
