More than a decade before former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky was charged with more than 50 counts of child sex abuse, a psychologist warned university police that his actions fit that of a “likely pedophile’s pattern,” NBC News reports.
The finding by State College, Pa., psychologist Dr. Alycia A. Chambers, the therapist for one of Sandusky’s alleged victims, was contained in the internal Penn State files of a 1998 police investigation of the former coach for showering and bear hugging her client and another young boy in the school’s athletic locker room.
NBC News has obtained the complete file on the investigation – the police report and assessments by two psychologists who interviewed the boys -- which provides new details about Sandusky’s behavior. It also could raise fresh questions about how school and local authorities handled his case.

I love how everyone wants to give Paterno a free pass in this for all the years he knew exactly what was going on and did nothing. Where was his integrity then?! What - integrity is only for the football field? Hey, if I go to a grocery store and see a group of thugs beating someone up not only do I dial 911, I do my level best to try and DO SOMETHING.
Paterno had the ability and the power to end countless boys' suffering at Sandusky's hands and did nothing. Moreover, he actually was able to look him in the eye and have civil contact with him each day and managed to laugh with him, and carry on as usual - all the while knowing what he was doing to these boys! Paterno out to dry my ass. He's being judged by God now and I'm very good with that.

Blah Blah Blah, Purvixen... Can we read an article about the Sandusky trial and not have some @sshole like you blowing up Joe Paterno in the process? Hasn't he been drug through the mud enough already? Let the man and his family rest in peace, already. You would have done this and you would have done that, but when it comes down to it YOU WEREN'T THERE!!! Your speculation means absolutely nothing, and quite frankly, the speculation of the national media has turned this thing so far upside down that most people don't even understand who is actually on trial. Do I think Sandusky is a terrible excuse for a human being? Absolutely. Do I think Paterno is in any way responsible for it? No. Not in the least bit. Had he actually pursued the hearsay claims beyond what he did, the lawsuits would have started at defamation of character and escalated from there. To say that he had the "ability or power" to stop someone as manipulative and mentally unstable (and unfortunately intelligent) as Sandusky has proven himself to be is just asinine on your part. Good day, sir.
Paterno knew what Sandusky was up to and did nothing. If Paterno was that ignorant, then he still deserved to be fired. All this going on and Paterno didn't know? Come on. Many knew Sandusky was a homosexual pedophile years ago and did nothing about it. There are probably more victims but they are just too embarrased to come forth. However, the victims should not feel that way, Sandusky is the one who should feel embarrased but not, not one bit of remorse or regret. Sandusky says all 52 that came forth are lying and that he is telling the truth. Are people that stupid? Oh, its a conspiracy against Sandusky. not.

Since all of Sandusky's victims were boys and Sandusky is a male, Sandusky is a closet homosexual with a wife as a cover up. Call a spade a spade: Sandusky is a homosexual pedophile. It would be interesting to find out if Sandusky founded the charity for his fetish to molest little boys.

This guy has some SERIOUS issues. He will NEVER be 'mainstream normal'. He is a menace to society, and a danger to children in every community and neighborhood. He should NEVER BE LET OUT OF PRISON. If there were an isolated island somewhere, that could house sex offenders (pedophiles particularly), that's where he, and others like him should be kept, until there is an effective treatment or cure for this type of deviate sexual behavior. Currently, there is no effective treatment for this type of mental disturbance.

Such hate and violent words! Doesn't hate and violence of any sort bring about more of the same? Yes, the law should follow it's course and innocents should be protected but is it productive to support hate and violence?
Joe Paterno and Sanduskys wife must have known that Sandusky was a pedophile. Sandusky should be in jail. He can have fun with other inmates for the rest of his life.
roxanna makes a most valid point. It is critical that the behavior of Sandusky and others like him be recognized, addressed and prosecuted vigorously. At the same time we must remember that we are a 'civilized society' and a system of arrest, prosecution and punishment is in place to deal with these matters.
We as citizens must be vigilant of behavior that seems inappropriate and not hesitate to report it to the proper authorities. Calling for lynch mobs and castration is not the type of response that we can tolerate as a descent people. If we did so we would be lowering ourselves to the level of the perpetrator.
