His tweeting of the address in the first place doesn't make any sense. He's decrying the vigilante justice that took Martin's life, yet by posting the address, he's asking for vigilante justice against Zimmerman. Ironic.

And the fact that he had the wrong address just makes it worse. He owes this couple more than just a twitter apology.

I agree that at least he apologized. Not that he had much of a defense not to apologize, but the stupidity that drives him to do such a thing might also have constrained his contrition. So it might have taken some prodding since his apology was not immediate or even magnanimous when it was done through twitter. Who is to say Lee actually did the twitting, he might have just assigned the duty to one of his handlers. Spike Lee is certainly safe from any criminal problems this might have caused, since he hosted President Obama for a campaign fund raiser this past January for the tune of 1.4 million. This reminds me of a scary moment of my life when I had to shoot a 22 year old black man who broke into my home in San Francisco. One of the scariest moments in my life, my wife's life, and my two children's life. The police and DA all agreed the shooting was justified and necessary to preserve the life of me and my family, and I even got my gun back in one piece (in one of the most anti-gun cities in America, I tell you). The family of the burglar was not satisfied with the police's conclusion so they called the local chapter of the ACLU and NCAAP. The ACLU, to their credit, saw nothing wrong. The NAACP hunted me down everywhere I went. One of their people came to my door and showed me made-up stories about my past and threaten to release it all to the media and portray me as a racist. He saw the opportunity of me having a Mexican wife to portray me as some abusive man who takes advantage of a woman who doesn't speak english well. To shock me even more, he said I could "make this all go away" by "donating" $7000 to the NAACP. No way I was going to do that...I would have rather face media kneejerk reaction than be extorted by a group that ruins lives for their own political agenda. It wasn't until I got an attorney involved that I got a letter from the NAACP saying that the actions from that member was "inexcusable" and "regretful" and that he is "no longer with the NAACP." I doubt he was a rougue member. He only got fired because they feared being called out on it.

My brother had to shoot an eighteen year old black male who was trying to steal his car in his driveway in Central Florida. When my brother stepped out of his house - the BM opened up on him with a handgun. My brother returned fire with several rounds of birdshot (he's a nice guy, after all) and the BM is now doing 20 years for attempted first degree murder.

However, two months after the BM's arrest, some of his fellow gang members drove by my brother's house and put a bullet through his front door - which could have easily killed someone.

How many times are people going to post opinions without facts? The only facts we have are that sadly, a teen named Treyvon Martin is dead and a community watch person, George Zimmerman shot him. All the rest is speculation designed to inflame the situation, create racial unrest, etc.

Before we go down the slippery slope of trying to make this incident racially motivated, can we at least wait for the results from a full investigation? People are demanding that Zimmerman be arrested and charged with murder, but does anyone independent of this situation REALLY know if that is true or not? People are so quick to judge without a full command of the facts and when the media presents only one side of the story for days, they further exascerbate the situation.

The media rarely, if ever, admits they're wrong. And if they do it's at a whisper and under their breath. I 1st read this story about 3:30pm west coast time and I could swear the 1st 2 sentences are different/edited now from what was said earlier. There was an intent in re-Tweeting that address. The intent was to have the resident (supposedly Zimmerman) harassed an possibly attacked. There is NO other reason for posting that address. Spike Lee was encouraging that harassment/attack by doing what he did. At a minimum, they should be able to charge him with conspiracy to do harm (whatever legal version that might take on).

Racism is systemic bias and the failure of the criminal justice system to give a Black family the same level of respect and justice that would have been accorded a white victim IS actually racism.

Well, I see someone here treating "black" and "white" differently. Hint: He is capitalizing one but not the other. And the system is treating it just the same as it would if the deceased were white. Zimmerman has a self-defense claim. With the law as it stands, his claim stands as long as it is plausible. I'm not sure tweeting public information is illegal. It's not like anyone couldn't look it up. The "incitement to riot" charge that one poster suggested might hold water, but Lee's tweet may very well not be illegal. That doesn't make it any less reprehensible, but many reprehensible things aren't illegal in America.

Thanks for the cool head. I do believe the couple would have a reasonable chance at a civil suit (I'm ignorant of the law in that State). Emotional distress is hard to prove (If even allowed in Florida) but given the depth and breadth of "coverage" this issue has garnered and that they would only have to prove to a preponderance of evidence that Lee's tweet was intended to or reasonably would cause harm then I believe they have a shot (pardon the pun).

It would be worth the cost of a movie ticket to see Lee's life story end as a pauper because of this. I believe he's that much of a bad influence on our youth...regardless of color.

Exactly!IT has yet to be proven that he deserves to be called "killer". He did take Trayvons life but we need to wait for a judge and/or jury to decide if it was justifiable. That is if there is anywhere in the world that a unbiased jury can be found due to all the publicity and people trying and convicting him in the court of public opinion. The media have pretty much all slanted their reporting towards a guilty verdict and way too may people are ready to take the medias words as fact. I listened to the 911 tape, heard the yelling and the shot (one shot). No way anyboy can tell who is the one yelling for certain. The video from the police station is no proof of anything. You mostly see Zimmermans profile and his back. He was treated prior to the police station and the blood was cleaned up. A head wound from the view in the video really can't show anything. I have kids who have had head wounds, and worked in the medical field in the past and treated superficial head wounds. and you have to be up close to see thru hair etc. after the blood is cleaned away.
