Subscribe to RSSMIAMI -- At least one gunman opened fire on a crowd or mourners gathered at a Miami-area funeral home, killing two people and injuring 12, authorities said.
The shooting happened Friday night at Funeraria Latina Emanuel in the North Miami area. More than 100 people were gathered outside the funeral home when a car drove by and at least one person inside the vehicle fired shots, reportedly with a high-powered weapon, the Miami Herald reported.
"Horror, it was horrible and it was sounds of horror," said pastor A.D. Lenoir of Westview Baptist Church, NBC 6 Miami reported.
Lenoir had just finished officiating the service for 21-year-old Marvin Andre, who was killed in a March 18 shooting, according to witnesses. He was buried at nearby Southern Memorial Park Saturday morning
Among the injured was a 5-year-old girl, McKayla Bazile, according to authorities.
"I grabbed her so we could go and she was screaming and I'm like 'why are you screaming,' I thought she was scared," said Someta Etienne, WSVN-TV reported. "Then I saw the blood coming from her pants."
Alvaro Zabaleta of Miami-Dade Police said that it is too early to determine the motive for the shooting.
"Whenever you have these types of services, you have a lot of people present, they all become witnesses," Zabaleta said. "Too early to tell what the motive may be and if the person in the viewing has anything to do with it."
An eyewitness told NBC 6 that a suspect in a white Pontiac opened fire on people as they waited outside for their turn to view the body.
"I was in the foyer, shaking hands, galvanizing with the people and shots were fired," said Lenoir.
Police were looking for six men who were in a white 2006 or 2009 Pontiac or Impala, according to WSVN-TV.

It's Florida...obviously the shooter felt threatened and "stood his ground", hitting everyone else in self-defense. He was released after questioning.
Obviously someone felt threatened. Boy, I bet we're going to find out that in all those states that have had the wisdom to pass "stand your ground" laws, that (1) justifiable homicide goes up astronomically, and (2) "I felt threatened" is going to heard very frequently. It's going to be a surprise to a good many folks just how threatened a good many NRA members are!
what would one expect from a society where violence in accepted in games,films,music " one cannot get clean water from a dirty well " so what " goes in has to come out " so teach children Love, faithfulness , philanthropy and maybe it will become a better society.

All my 46 years, living around and with guns and all my family with, and not a single one of us has been shot, shot at, seen someone shot or know someone that has been shot. This is about culture not guns. NRA has nothing to do with this. I have hundreds of relatives.
I guess the NRA will propose that all corpses carry guns during funerals, that way this one could have defended the crowd from the shooters.

Guns are specifically designed to kill (or shoot targets) and hammers are used to hammer nails. Now, you can use a gun as a hammer (seriously not recommended) and you can kill someone with a hammer. If you want to blame guns for all the ills of society, be my guest. The barn door was opened a long time ago and the Second Amendment was written for a reason. Remove all the guns from all the criminals and wait and see how long before they get more guns. China, Israel, Poland and a host of other countries manufacture guns.
