Graphic on radical website warns al-Qaida will return to New York

The graphic was posted on a radical overseas site, authorities said.

A computer graphic warning that al-Qaida will return soon to New York City has been posted on an Internet site linked to the terror organization, and the NYPD and FBI say they are investigating.

The graphic was posted on a radical overseas website, shows the city skyline and reads: "Al Qaeda Coming Soon Again in New York."

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said the graphic appeared on a site that has hosted al-Qaida material before and is what the NYPD Intelligence Division refers to as a Category 1 website, meaning it is heavily used by Jihadi and al-Qaida adherents.

He added that the NYPD is working to try to determine what individual or group posted the threat on the website; it is now being spread across numerous extremist forums.

Read original story about terror threat on NBCNewYork.com

Browne said the graphic appears to have been created on a Cinema 4 software, which typically costs about $1,600.

The NYPD says there is no evidence of any plot or new specific threat to the region. Al-Qaida web forums often post threats and rants from extremists and al-Qaida sympathizers.

An FBI spokesman said agents are also investigating.

“The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is aware of the posting and investigating its authenticity and origin," said J. Peter Donald. "The FBI takes all threats seriously and at his time there is no specific or credible threat to New York.”

my response it it's all scare tactics.. designed to make people paranoid..

hell for all we know it could be a deep American group looking to drum up more support for more military action in the middle east by preying on peoples fears and introducing paranoia.

I don't put it past the powers that be to do dastardly things to get the end result they want

As split as this nation is, it would take al-Qaida to pull us back together again. Nothing gets conservatives and liberals fired up like killing people.

Lets hope it doesn't take a terrorist for people to join together to fix this nation. We don't need to kill another 4000 American soldiers to get conservative and liberal support.

GOOD THING NEW YORK DECIDED to avoid pursuing justice in the court system it was designed for, and having the 9/11 trials NOT in the city. Because oh yeah, New York is so much safer now that justice is being served in Guantanamo. Yet your average New Yorker is a liberal. Funny that.

New Yorkers can be cowards just like anyone else, despite all the tough talk. Live near New York, visit it all the time. And big as it is, it isn't really that special when it comes to anything else. Well, at least when it comes to cowards per square mile.

After 9/11, I thought soft-target bombings such as school and shopping malls would happen every other day. There were millions of terrorists out to get us.

In the decade since, essentially, there has been nothing of note.

I'm wondering where all this terrorist danger is.

Aw, doyourhomework talks tough from his keyboard to.

If you were paying attention, there's no need to walk into a bar and say it. Plenty of New Yorkers already know what they are and say it themselves.

But go on with your fantasy line, where people are all tough and yeah, if you type something from your keyboard you wouldn't be able to talk about it personally. You obviously prove you know about that.

Yo Jonal, were you born in a cave, or do you just like hanging out with hopeless, losers, brainwashed dyers, sold out fools, taught, encouraged, and convinced killing other sold out living beings will put you in someone's paradise you've only been told about? It's not your fault you've been taught to ignore the true value of your mother, and sisters, but it is your fault if you can't learn. Stand a simple man, and have the courage to do the kind of back breaking work you were taught to force upon your weaker sex. Indisputable evidence of Al Qaeda's overwhelming majority preference to even the most hard core pornography alone so intensely exposes the truth of those who scream the loudest against the western permissive sexual behavior should open the eye, and mind of anyone even moderately intelligent. Every bit as disgusting, and degrading as it is to the females who gave you life, and the opportunity in this world you've yet to discover. And maybe you'd realize that killing for "Ala" is the biggest, dirtiest, most chicken@!$%# lie you ever allowed yourself to be convinced of, by the biggest, dirtiest, most selfish, and power crazed fanatics to ever to gain a sliver of power in the environment we currently live. Those who cherish the love, and courage of the incredible human beings who give them life, and the choice to treat others the way they'd like to be treated deserve the respect they were born to show others. You don't behead, torture, maim, and show the worst of yourself to get what you wan,t or even need. You demonstrate how you would like to be treated in every conceivable means you can think of. If you want to bring the very worst out of everyone you contact you've been taught very well how to do that. You want respect & love - show it to those you want it from. You want pain, contempt, hell, show it to those you want it from. Hate breeds hate, but worse than that - Hate Guarantees Hate! STOP - GROW - LEARN awhile - discover what, and who you are. IF you want to live, and die in a cave - do it. Who cares? But, I promise you - it is something you will live to regret more intensely than any other thing in this life, and every other life following. I am 63 years old, and if I've learned anything in this life, it is that > Religion breads greed, and hate in the most sneaky, low down, chicken@!$%# manner humanly conceivable. The bigger the religion - the bigger the crime, and all who use it. We don't die. We learn.

Rather than wait to see which country the next supposed strike will be organized in, pull visas and deport 'students' from all Middle East countries. Immediately begin carpet bombing in all known al Qaida strongholds -- Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, Iraq, Detroit -- stop fiddling around trying to 'win hearts and minds' in Arab countries and start killing al Qaida operatives wholesale. If we're going to HAVE a war, FIGHT it like a WAR! Tell Pakistan to open their border routes for transport at risk of becoming the target themselves! Stop messing around over there and just fight the damn war!

Thats assuming they let you get away with the mass murder of millions of people. Sorry...hate to say that attempting to work with the people produces better peace, countries still intact, goodwill, and if we do it right(we won't), more economic opportunities for the young men who turn to these groups to feel they belong to something bigger than themselves.

The solution to the global war on terror:

-Get rid of all our bases around the world

-Become energy independent, even if it means we have to start charging $10-20/gallon of gas

-Stop meddling in foreign affairs (especially in the middle east)

This is what the US is doing instead:

            -Beefing up military presence

            -No change in energy policy

-Remains involved in foreign affairs (especially siding with Israel)

            -Ever-increasing surveillance of American citizens

.....We deserve our leadership and whatever happens to us, if we will let them get away with this.

In the next decade i see al-quaida getting stronger we've given them 100's of thousands of war orphans and their hate will only grow. And al-quaida will be there to make sure they get training. As long as we let them come to the USA they will attack. Even if we stop Muslims from flying here we have to close the southern border because it would be easy for al-quaida to mimic a Mexican.

Let's look at it this way then zuksam, why does Al-Qaeda hate America, and why do so many Mexicans want to come here ?

The answer is essentially the same for both questions. American leaderships foreign policy. Our elected officials use our military to occupy foreign lands, making America the largest terrorist organization in the world. The Mexicans want to come here because our elected officials have destroyed Mexico's economy, starting with NAFTA, and continuing with the drug trade.

Yes, yes, yes we have to take off our shoes at airports. So what? In the big scheme of things that is unimportant. During WWII everything in America was rationed. You had to give up your bicycle so it could be recycled into bullets. We put thousands of Americans into concentration camps. The steel, auto, and aerospace industries were nationalized for the war effort. We haven't had a tenth of that with the war on terror. And back then it was called patriotism. Today we call it Socialism and cry every time someone wands us at the airport. The only thing that's really changed is we are bigger wusses about it.

AQ's goals are not to make us lose our freedoms. That is American political spin. They don't care whether we vote or are ruled over by a king. AQ's goals are our collapse and enslavement - something we nearly gave them all on our own with the failure of our deregulated banking industry! AQ has not succeeded in any of its overarching goals. America is still here. The West is still here. Their leaders are dead. Their nations are in shambles. We have made them shed a thousand times more blood for every drop of a Westerner's that has been spilled. Our armies invade their territories with impunity. Their only hope is to eventually have some political clout within some of the uprising democracies in the M.E. In order to do that successfully they will have to eventually lay down their arms, because their violence undoes them in every community in which they seek to root. But even that won't give them the "caliphate" they want and the destruction of the West they desire.

In the larger history of the world AQ has been nothing more than a speed bump. In 100 years they will be a small chapter in a text book and anything that remains will be a shadow of its former self.

It appears that all out war against Islam is coming. I wish it weren't so, but...

Folks, get you heads out of the sand, these people want you dead. It's getting time to prepare to defend ourselves. At the very least, be prepared.

As a peace loving westerner I hate to see this happening but it looks inevitable. Their doctrine seeks world domination, what more do you need to know.

Take a look at the freedoms that would be lost with Sharia Law and tell me this isn't a critical time in history.

                          Religion, not really.

                          oh wait, i'm not.

How, exactly, is this "all out war conquering" going to happen?

Fishy...well stated, logical and true! Get the NYPD out and into even more mosques and watch every single muslim, especially the religious leaders. As in 9-11 the cowardly muslim terrorists can't attack without local support. We all should realize that the silence of the muslim majorities indicates thier consent and approval. Way, way past time to stop every muslim from entering out country, and time to monitor every single muslim for terrorist support. We've already made to many mistakes in letting this hate filled culture into our country, just as did France, Germany, Sweeden, Denmark, UK.

I'm no doomsday theorist, but a clash is coming, if you don't see the signs you need to turn off the xbox for a night, and read about what's going on in Europe. England, France, Sweden, Russia, the Netherlands. It's at a boiling point over there, and we're not that far behind.

It's only going to take a few instances before hate crimes begin happening across the country. Americans don't like there stuff blown up, and I don't think this nations citizens are going to except the whole "It's only a small percentage of them doing it" excuse, and sit back and let them hide amongst each other. Sure there will be outrage from the left, but no one is going to want to put up with their crap, and just except it as the new social norm.

It's a real shame, I don't want this to happen at all, but it will.

Bill, do you know how to stop Al-Qaeda and other Middle Eastern aggression towards the US ? End the occupation and oppression of their homelands.

If we pull the troops out of the middle east, and the rest of the world, the rest of the world will stop hating America.

I'm all for everyone just being nice to each other and working together to better humanity, but we don't live in your ideal star trek fantasy.

I don't know if you didn't read the first half of my post or chose to ignore it, whatever the case, this is not just an American Aggression issue. Read up on all the other European countries.

AQ is here, they've even begun using the drug cartels for smuggling. I agree that our military has been used for business profit, but if you think for one second that just pulling our troops out is going to make those nuts stop trying to hurt us, your delusional.

I applaude your humanism, but they'd sooner put a wire around your neck tethered to an rpg, and lunch your head clean off, than believe we could ever live in peace. Let me say it again, I wish this weren't so.

Bill, I don't have access to current military intel, but I do have access to past military and intelligence intel, as you do, and the information is ghastly.

You mention AQ smuggling drugs. Are you aware that the CIA has some of America's troops guarding and at times harvesting the poppy ? Did you also know the CIA is allowed to fund itself privately without Congressional oversight, primarily through the drug trade ?

I did read your entire post, but American leadership is the biggest culprit, problem, and terrorist throughout the world. America spent over $700 BILLION on military last year alone. None of the other countries you mentioned came close to spending $100 billion on military.

Just in time too. The TSA has been dying to legally conduct cavity searches on the travelling public and it looks like if airplanes are involved on Sept. 11, Part Deux, they just might get their wish. Get ready to spread 'em and bend over on your next flight. The terrorists have already won. Our liberties have all been taken away from us by our own government, our economy is in the crapper and all of our presidential candidates are clowns with no real plan for the future of this country.

Who needs terrorists when there's the U.S. government?

The sad part is that they've already been back to NYC in recent years and this amounts to nothing but another opportunity for the media to put the fear back into everyone.

For those of you living outside of the city, there was recently a sizable car bomb that failed to go off right across from central park. It failed to detonate b/c of the budget equipment that was used as a detonator, but otherwise it was a working explosive device that would've killed a lot of people had that one part worked properly.

We're not any safer just b/c you see the heavy response teams in places like Grand Central (the military basically comes in and stands around with heavy weapons and dogs)

On a rival news site there was a piece that seemed to be oddly boasting that key AQ sites were down and were probably 'silenced by the good guys'. No they weren't. The bad guys just took them down themselves after finding an alternate means to sail under the radar.

Thanks dude for putting a bigger bullseye on our backs and tarnishing the legacy and efforts of the hard working men and women defending our country. While I feel sorry for his mental state, why do these people cry out for help by killing innocent people?

I do not think that any serious psychologist believes in the "crying out for help" theory so heavily promoted by half-baked cable TV "experts".

It seems that those who commit mass murder are either perpetually psychotic or suffer a temporary psychotic state. 'Help me' does not enter their minds, instead they attack real people in an effort to attack fantasy enemies (somewhat like the Al Qaida members.

It's not soldiers that keeps the cross-hairs on the US, the Taliban kills more people than the US does, so they don't care about that.

It's our foreign policy of having bases all over the world, siding with Israel, and practices of Western energy companies that are responsible.

If you ever travelled or lived outside the US, you'd see this situation differently.

We need to get out of the Middle East for good so that they can't say that we're on their soil. The problem is that it's the big corporations that are there profiting off oil while using our military to protect them. As for the US, I believe that we must watch and profile until it hurts. There's indication that many young males who are citizens are on the Internet coming under the influence of militant Islam as another gang.

                                              Let's see.......

Bubba Bill had at least 2 opportunities to take down bin Laden, but refused to interrupt his golf game.

Clinton White House staff wiped the hard drives of all their computers before leaving.

Different intelligence agencies were not exchanging information, so nothing could be confirmed, correlated, or acted upon.

Number one: Obama didn't get Bin Laden. it was a collective effort of years of intelligence gathering and operations by the US military, CIA, FBI, NSA, etc. Obama happened to be in office when we pin-pointed Bin Laden. Number two: Obama didn't get elected and magically find Bin Laden, see previous statement. Jackass.

It's just like the oil industry is producing the most oil ever right now, because Bush signed everything and opened everything up for that to happen. It just takes time to get things flowing and in order.

Hey all you Jihadist Republicans and Radical Whacko Democrats. Maybe if both sides got there heads out of there asses the Country might be a better place. Both sides are worthless, useless and money grubbing aholes. Now have a nice day and go back to your praying to each other.

You have NO IDEA what was done or wasn't done, or what was effective and what wasn't, under either President. Yes, I guess Bush devised a clever ten-year plan to get bin Laden, but unfortunately he was only in office for eight years.

George Bush was the worst President in history, and almost destroyed this country.

Get ready for four more years of Obama, JACKASS.

Obama agve the order to make the kill or capture of osama a priority. Obama gave the 'all go' when a plan was developed. Obama gave the speech to the country that osama was dead. Bush said he didn't know where osama was and nor did he care. Obama got bin laden.

I agree Obudda "GOT" Bin Laden, big deal has the price of gas gone down or up since he was killed? Has the housing market improved? Are our children doing better in school? Has crime gone down? Has your life really been better since Obudda has been in office? (Not mine and I didn't change a damn thing since the last election) By the way how do you know Obudda "GOT" Bin Laden? Ever seen any pictures of the body or any real proof?

you state, "I agree Obudda "GOT" Bil Laden...". You then state, "By the way how do you know Obudda "GOT" Bin Laden?". Are you really arguing with yourself? Smart man.

I put I agree because that is what we have been told but then I was trying to make a point just because you've been told something does not make it true. Its sort of like how we've been told the stimulus program worked, the border is secure, our returning military men are the biggest terrorist threat, the ecomomy is improving, yet we've never actually seen proof of any of this. Smart man, no just an old veteran with 3/4 of a leg, enough metal in my body I can't go through an airport but smart enough to take everything I've seen and heard and form my own opinon based upon experience, history and human nature and not become a parrot of someone and think therefore I am smarter than everybody else. 1st Inf.
