According to investigators, 43-year-old shooting suspect One Goh was upset with students at the because of the way he says he was treated when he enrolled at Oikos University two months ago. NBC's Kristen Dahlgren reports.
Oikos University, the private college in Oakland, Calif., where authorities say an expelled student methodically gunned down seven people, caters to a fast-growing target market: Korean-American Christians.
One L. Goh, 43, a South Korean national, had been a nursing student at Oikos. Oakland police do not have a precise motive yet, but they say the alleged gunman was upset with his former school, where he apparently had been teased over his poor English. He went hunting for a female administrator at the school on Monday and then opened fire on others when he couldn’t find her, according to police.
Oikos, a one-building evangelical Christian college in an industrial park near Oakland’s airport, was founded in 2004 by the Rev. Jongin Kim of San Leandro, who remains the school’s president.
According to its website, its mission is to “educate men and women to be the leaders to serve the church, local communities, and the world by using their learned skills and professions in the areas of biblical studies, music performance, Asian medicine and practical vocational nursing.”
Oikos awards degrees in nursing, biblical studies, music, ministry, divinity and Asian medicine. It attracts mostly Korean Americans from the Bay Area as well as Koreans from abroad. Tuition runs between $2,200 and $3,100 per semester for most bachelor’s programs and students are required to attend church services.
The school is one of about 1,400 institutions licensed by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, established in January 2010 within the Department of Consumer Affairs to oversee private postsecondary schools operating in California.
Police: Oikos shooter targeted female administrator
Bureau spokesman Russ Heimerich says the state has not received any merited complaints about Oikos. But he says the school’s nursing program, separately accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians, could be in hot water because its pass rate for the nursing exam is well below the state average of 75 percent. (Oikos’ nursing pass rate was 58 percent and 41 percent, respectively, for 2010 and 2011, Heimerich said.)
“They are in jeopardy of having their accreditation altered in some way or withdrawn” if the school doesn’t bring up its pass rates, Heimerich told msnbc.com.
NBC's Kristen Dahlgren reports.
It was not immediately clear how many students attend Oikos. The school's website lists about 50 instructors.
Boyung Lee, associate professor of educational ministries at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, says Oikos is among a number of theology-related schools catering to Korean-Americans that have sprung up in Los Angeles, Atlanta, northern New Jersey-New York and other places around the U.S. with sizable Korean-American populations.
In South Korea, Christianity is the dominant religion; about 35 percent of the population are either Protestant or Catholic, Lee says.
“In Korea getting into college is extremely competitive so a lot of parents send their kids abroad. We have this term called 'goose family,' where the father stays in Korea and makes money while the children and mom are abroad for education,” Lee says.
“Every parent wants their children to be fluent in English. Some parents may feel safe if their children are attending a school like Oikos because of its exclusive fundamentalist Christian environment.”
Pyong Gap Min, a sociology professor at Queens College in New York, said about 60 percent of Korean immigrants in the U.S. are Protestant. "Korean immigrants have drawn largely from the Protestant segment of the population in Korea and many non-churchgoers in Korea attend Korean churches here," Min told msnbc.com by email. "But Korean protestantism is very interesting because they are heavily evangelically oriented. They have sent about 15,000 missionaries to all over the world. This number is the second largest group in the world next to the U.S."
Andrew Sung Park, a professor of theology and ethics at United Theological Seminary in Ohio, told CNN that most of 1.3 million Korean Americans are Christian and they generally subscribe to evangelical Protestantism.

An Oakland police officer walks outside of Oikos University in Oakland, Calif., Tuesday, a day after a deadly shooting.
"There is a saying that when Koreans get together in the United States, they establish churches first," Park, who is Korean-American, told CNN. "Some other Asians are more concerned with businesses or finances, but Koreans care about religion and about Christianity."
Kim, the school’s president, didn’t return media calls Tuesday, and Oakland police said the school is closed indefinitely. According to the Oakland Tribune, Kim is affiliated with the Praise God Korean Church in Oakland and is listed as the president of California Ezra Bible Academy in Sunnyvale.
The term "oikos" is ancient Greek for household or family. In a statement on Oikos University's website Kim says the school’s main goal is “to foster spiritual Christian leaders who abide by God’s intentions and to expand God’s nation through them.”
The statement adds:
“To accomplish our mission, we actively seek out, educate and train students, ministers, teachers and church leaders to become more qualified leaders. Oikos University has rapidly grown in its quality and size to become an institution that contributes to and positively changes their surrounding environment--and the world in general.”
The school’s “Doctrinal Statement” lists 11 fundamental beliefs, including the Bible, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Number 11 on the list is Satan:
"We believe the existence of a personal, malevolent being called Satan who acts as tempter and accuser, for whom the place of eternal punishment was prepared, where all who die outside of Christ shall be confined in conscious torment for eternity. He can be resisted by the believer through faith and reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit."
“I was taken aback by how fundamentalist and conservative these systems are. I assume that those beliefs, doctrines were taught to students,” Lee said. “I wonder whether such a system creates liberation among students.”

Wasn't the Virginia Tech shooter also a Korean-American?
Good thing American's can think for themselves, otherwise we would be telling the Korean's to get out of our country because of one rogue crazy person!
before anyone jumps to judge, we don't have all the facts, and there has to be more reason to why he was expelled than what we are being told yet.
Learned something you jokers in California. Don't screw with Kimchi.
Seriously...if you still believe in God after this, then I don't know what other evidence you need...
Sure was, as well as the hostage taker at the Discovery Channel, in Maryland, two years ago.
Not a very Christ like way to act. He must have failed that part in school.
May God have Mercy on his soul...
R.I.P.
It is said, when the mafia world needs something taken care of, they call on the Korean mafia. Yup. Don't mess with kimchi, alright.

Seriously...if you still believe in God after this, then I don't know what other evidence you need..."
Jason, Jason, Jason... Seriously, you are knocking God because what one person did? Just because he happened to attend a Christian school? Seriously... Do you have a family member or a relative that is considered 'bad' there? If so, does that person make your entire family tree a 'bad' tree? Come on now.
Is NBC working on doctoring some phone calls to try to divide Korean Americans from society too?
NBC News regrets editing of Trayvon shooting call
"Last week Fox News did a report in which it presented "before" and "after" versions of the call. NBC had broadcast the edited exchange on its flagship "Today" morning show.
NBC News launched an investigation after the Fox report."

The Va Tech massacre was at the hands of a CRAZED korean. That is Fact, not concerned with califarcia's "politically/ethnically sensitive" statements. These "religous" school owners were smooth in their operation and making the bucks until......
I guess that crazy Koreans come to America, because the GUN LAWS in Korea are too tough, and it is beyond EASY to get guns in the crazy USA.
Crazy Americans, just stay here, because gun laws are wicked EASY here, and too tough in Korea and England and Holland and France and Germany and Russia and Italy and Finland,....where there are very few killings by handguns, or semi-automatics, or rifles.....
Americans are kind of wacko about their penises, er..I mean their guns.
@ liam-1161783
Trouble is your logic is not thought through... put a gun in the hands of the victims and they shoot back instead of being sitting ducks in the proverbial pond.
Then the kimchi eater is not as likely to want to go to a place to start shooting if he is being shot back at. All it would take is for one person to shoot back or come up from behind him and end the confrontation with 100% rehabilitation and save the tax payers a bunch of money. Just think of all those pyschiatrist getting all the big bucks to study this bloke to see if he got a bad bach of kimchi to make him go off the deep end....then the lawyers who will make millions.... what a waste.
Accreditation issues aside, if the gunman was belittled and expelled for poor English, it would seem the memo about Christian tolerance and forgiveness didn't make it all the way through the faculty and student body. Not that it excuses his actions, but ...
like you have all the facts...and that was an insensitive remark given the deaths of innocent people. Nice job, dude
Look in a mirror. You'll see a bigot.
Who cares about ethnicity or religion? This was a tragic event. Don't try to put it in little boxes.
have to agree with tom on this, how often does the media get the information wrong?..Heck how often does MSN get it wrong? Not sure too many colleges would be willing to expell someone for such issues without being sued for violating their civil rights, so wait and lets get the real info.
Christians and tolerance:
God=1,000,000,000 year old oak tree
Humankind= An acorn buried in the ground trying to break through to the ground to reach the 'next' level.
As the acorn struggles, some tiny branch part may be eaten up by the worms... and fall away from the main body. The main body of the acorn is what will one day grow up to be that 1,000,000,000 year old oak tree that is our potential.

Look in a mirror. You'll see a bigot.
Which is true? "It takes one to know one," or "He who calls name is that he."?
Unsubstantiated accusations usually pull a boomerang on us and hit us smack in the behind. Yup. I know. Therefore, let's not go there and say we did.
Most of the other students were Korean just like the shooter, so there had to be more to this than racism.
big surprises people are hipocrits we all are in some way.
Well, God was kind of busy tossing Tornadoes around the Bible Belt, especially in Texas....guess the prayers don't work so well.......ODD, isn't it, that Tornadoes ONLY strike in the American Mid-West and in Mongolia, two places on earth where most prayers are made by hypocrites.
@Json-703315 - Really...that proves to you there is no God. What a spineless wimp you are. People always looking for a reason to say there is no God....like liam-1161783....i think you are all stupid kids and your "views" don't matter to anyone. Well, they matter to God, pack a thong and flip-flops when you die, it's gonna be a hot one.
I just love how atheist they try and tell Christians what they should believe about their faith while denying, ridiculing and bashing those beliefs, too funny, even funnier is when they quoting Jesus or the bible, all the while denying he exist or saying that it's a fairy tell. Go figure.
Yes, and both were teased for their poor Englihs. Asians are always targeted by others because of the way they look, sound, etc. Sometimes there is a price to pay for this hate. Unfortunately, the shooter also dies usually. The people who made fun of their English should have been the victims.
You're saying that people that make fun of other people should be killed? You do realize that eventually nobody would be left right? Here's a novel idea. Blame the killer for killing people instead of trying to find some way to blame the victims.
rcr98144, were you born this stupid or did you have to go too college for it?

Didn't your Grandmother ever tell you that revenge isn't the answer?

rcr98144, were you born this stupid or did you have to go too college for it?
Not sure if it's possible to be born 'stupid'... however, I've heard many cases where perfectly fine folks enter them college and come out stupid on the other end. Could that be the case here? For darn shame...

Didn't your Grandmother ever tell you that revenge isn't the answer?
My grammy told me revenge tastes the best when served cold. Wait, that could've been that tv character with bad hair. Anyhow, it matters not. My Jesus told me to love my neighbor and said nothing about revenge. Therefore, I'm going with Jesus on this one.
Lots of Americans have a BULLY complex, and like to make fun of people who don't look like or sound like them..., often these bullies are church going Christians, which is,well, hypocritical.
Okay, we've had several (almost all) white, male mass killers, black male mass killers, a few white, female killers (that woman in Alabama comes to mind), a couple of Asian male mass killers and some Hispanic male mass killers. When we have Black, Hispanic and Asian female mass killers - then this country is in trouble. But now this is just par for the course!
"When we have Black, Hispanic and Asian female mass killers - then this country is in trouble" De2Or2010
Au contraire. That's when we fully become 'equal opportunity' mass murderers! Uh, is that 'bad' English?!
One of my coworkers is Chinese--by way of Australia.
We are the only two Asians in a company that is otherwise mostly black (three whites and one Latino). When people see us they start...speaking...very...slowly because they think we can't speak English. It is, therefore, a complete shock when I speak perfect English and read Spanish and French, and my coworker said "G'day, mate!" And he actually does sound like Crocodile Dundee when he says it, too. We never fail to have ourselves a laugh at the people whose jaws drop open.
Joking aide, though, some of the rabid anti-immigration rhetoric out there can be extremely unkind to those out there who don't speak English right. Even if you're here legally, as my coworker is, or a former undocumented, like me (adopted, immigration lost my adoption paper 18 years after it was filed and Dad and Mom never told me I was adopted before they passed away in a car accident) Americans have lately become very unforgiving and intolerant.
thanks for a rational contribution
I'm Polish-American, grew up in a small town in Poland, 95% catholic, 100% white. Moved to NYC when I was 11, the first time my jaw dropped was when I heard a black guy speak Polish...(no black polaks at that time, not one, I'm pretty sure)
If I heard a Chinese person speak with an Australian accent I would be kind of taken back... Not because I don't expect an asian person to speak English, I just don't expect an Australian accent, which sadly I actually have never heard or to be more precise, heard and seen, I'm sure I would get a huge kick out of it actually... Also wasn't the school catering to Koreans, so it was Koreans, and perhaps Korean-Americans who were bullying?
SAdly, many Americans grow up in white neighborhoods where they don't meet anyone who is not white, until they leave their town or small city...Small town/small /city Americans tend to be very parochial, stunted in their growth, and incurious. If they grew up in a protestant town, or a catholic town, its as though no other religion is OK,too.
And the drivel, which Americans watch on TV, the lack of interest in real news, their lack of knowledge in foreign cultures ( due to Americas poor educational systems), assures that they will be defensive when they meet someone who is "different"...they are to be pitied.
The gunman should have started with himself first ...
Hazel.
The gunman should have started with himself first ...
But then... wouldn't people make fun of him for being an underachiever! Even while murderously mad?!
As terrible as this whole episode was I think people in general need to develop more patience and less of an I am better than you attitude. We need more religion in our souls not in our speech.
We need less religion and more reality. Just imagine a world where crazy people and the rich don't have such an easy tool to control people.
Get real...you dont have all the facts and I highly doubt religion and wealth had anything significant to do with this shooting. It was simply a bullying type scenario from first glance by the student administrator the guy was originally hunting.
Exactly, it relieves me to know there are people who actually use their God given intelligence to think for themselves.
jan-3824144
As terrible as this whole episode was I think people in general need to develop more patience and less of an I am better than you attitude. We need more religion in our souls not in our speech.
First, Amen to that. Secondly, that "more patience and less of an I am better than you attitude" could seriously put a damper on the economy that is already struggling. Wouldn't that like put most of the divorce lawyers and many of the media people out of their jobs? When everyone gets along so well that we have no more 'issues' to divide us, is that like heaven where no one is a divorce lawyer?
P.S. It's not just the divorce lawyers, heaven has no 'career' people, folks. I used that as an example- so no fighting over the comment, I hope.
I apologize, I didn't really explain myself so well, and looking back at my statement I agree with you both. My comment was more in general, not specific to this horrible incident. I don't think religion nor wealth played a role in this shooting. This was simply a crazy guy. And, while I stand by my statement, I'll say it's really not relevant to this story. Sorry.
Please make him white, please make him white, please make him white.
What? you mean you didn't even read the first paragraph of the article before gracing us with your words of wisdom?
"One L. Goh, 43, a South Korean national, had been a nursing student at Oikos".
It doesn't matter what color he is, it is not color that kills people, people kill people and seem to use guns to do it more often than not.
bgun2
Please make him white, please make him white, please make him white.
...hmmm... not understanding the Why... Why would you want to make him white? Are you white? Are you still wanting to corner the market on mass killings? Them darn Asians... they are trying to break into that mass kill market, aren't they? Next thing you know, they will corner the entire U.S.A. and run it as if it was their own country! Why... those darn Asians...
What?! Exactly!
So what does this shooting rampage have to do with Christianity or being Korean? People of all religions, or of no religion, commit all sorts of atrocities, so what's the point in a whole article about this?
In a society of no personal responsibility one must find other things to blame. A bad person no longer exists, everyone gets a tropy in little league and if for some reason you don't it must be descrimination or the leagues fault.
"So what does this shooting rampage have to do with Christianity or being Korean?"
Gosh, I don't know. Maybe because it was commited by a Korean at a christian university? Ya' think?
jetjoky, so again, what does this have to do with religion or ethnicity? Horrible things like this are committed by all sorts of people. Timothy McVeigh said his religion was science, so I'm sure the Oklahoma City bombing had something to do with his belief in science, right?
A college catering to koreans is interesting, but there's nothing wrong with it. After all human beings are human beings regardless of their original nationality. Also, there is no such thing as worshippers of a certain religion because all religions (at least the main stream ones) all believe in the very same God, as such there are only people of faith. No religion can be more right than another because religion is not faith, faith is only a relationship between one person and God and religion has nothing to do with that personal relationship.
Amen.
"... there will come a time when everyone will worship God in Truth and Spirit only." Jesus.
"...there will be no temples standing on the hills of Jerusalem..... there will come a time...." Jesus
And as well, there is nothing interesting about a school catering to Koreans. It is not a 'Korean' school per se, for everyone is accepted. Just about every ethnicity group has their own way of educating their people. There are schools that cater to Spanish speaking people, Polish speaking people, Japanese speaking people, Russian speaking people, Chinese speaking people, Gibberish speaking people, and some 150 different language speaking people, etc.
However, I fully symphathize with any man in their 40+ ages having to go back to vocational school so they can try to find a job. I especially feel sorry for people who do not have the basic advantage of being able to speak the language of this land. It must've been very hard for him.
Jan, you hit the nail on the head with that one. Everyone is blind to the intolerant nature of their own world view. Whenever someone claims that their world view is true, it excludes all other world-views as true, as two claims to truth that contradict each other cannot both be true. Every person believes what they believe and they justify themselves based on whatever criteria they want to to establish the supremacy of their view. Even those who say, "every view holds truth and none should be looked down upon based on this," fail to see that they then exclude those that believe that not every view holds truth and so some are erroneous. The truth by nature is exclusive. I feel that the main reason that Christianity has received such a bad rap for their claim to truth is the way that they portray themselves. If the truth cannot be told in love, then it becomes worthless. Many of those who claim to be "christian" are no different than any other person in the world. Jesus said His followers are to be known by their love for other believers and love for their neighbor (which includes every person). This type of love can only come from a change in the heart, which is what you hit upon. Rather than being hearers of the word only, we should also be doers. The hypocritical nature of many Christians is what is focused upon today. It's a sad state of affairs, but there still are some who remain faithful and love at all costs, considering others more important than themselves. Those type of believers never make the news though. Instead the mass media portrays all believers as hypocritical bigots who say "do what i say, not what i do." We do need a soul change, as Jesus clearly says, "The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."
The Catholic church and Islam are prime examples of the blind ignorance and intolerance you are describing.
"The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."
Would this saying apply to Mr. Goh or the inconsiderate big mouth that made fun of one's weakness, that which I'm sure Mr. Goh was already embarrassed about? That which in return, brought out the evil in the person that was taunted? There was nothing in the news of Mr. Goh saying anything bad. Sometimes when people are beaten down so much and in so many different ways, it is not so much the 'badness' that comes out but rather, they forget the 'goodness' which they possess.
Morlack, I believe that every denomination in Christianity and many other major religions has this problem. I go to a baptist church, but i do not consider myself "baptist." I just try to believe and live what the Bible says. I consider myself a follower of Jesus Christ, which is where the term "Christian" was first coined. It described those who were "Christlike" as developed by the Church of Antioch in Asia minor. The problem we all face is that we consider ourselves more important than others, and our views as "more right" than others' views. it's pride, essentially. Philippians 2:3 says, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves." This is exactly what Jesus did. Our sin nature tells us to look at others and to compare ourselves to them in an attempt to find our self-worth which leads us to think more highly of ourselves then we ought to, and I'm no exception. I struggle with it every day. When we look vertically to the standard of righteousness that Jesus fulfilled and the moral standard that He shed light on through His teachings, the playing field among humans is leveled, as Romans 3:23 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." I can then realize that I am no more righteous than any other man, woman or child. It's the exact reason why we are told in Matthew chapter 7, "
1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."
Sin nature tells us to focus on others' actions and condemn them for them, but the spirit tells us to love them and realize that we are all loved by God the same. if all "Christians" did this, I'm sure there would not be so much hate of Christianity today, but as it is, those who do not do it are most likely not followers of Christ and are not "Christlike."
Ah, lee speaks of that which breeds "I'm better than thou"ness in many. Perhaps it is the size of the plank that makes them feel superior to humans with mere speck in the eyes. Perhaps size does matter, hmm.
Yes, hyprocrisy is everywhere. In just about everyone, indeed. Lest we forget, it will serve to remember that one man's ceiling is another man's floor. Of course, that man's floor is another man's ceiling below. And so on it goes. Pleading no judgment here, I sense you are of more 'mature' Christian. From what I have seen, becoming a fully embodied Christian takes time. And we have Christians today some who are born just yesterday, some who can start to walk, some who can start to talk, some who are mature enough to teach others, and some who have decided quietly to follow Jesus without having anyone know... perhaps to walk away from the very conflicts you speak of.
As children often do, they fight and they are inherently selfish in some way. I think Christians, depending on the stages of their Christianity, can act that is similar to growing children.
I do have to disagree with the statement that, "so much ahte of Christianity today,"- in that I see it being respected far more than some who may dismiss it as being unreasonable. The miracles and all... since they haven't experienced it, it can't be true thingy. I understand where they are coming from. There is not enough time to explain it to someone who has already closed his or her mind to it.
It comes down to: It is not really my business to try to explain. Why? Because Jesus said, "No one can come to me unless Father God has called them." (To come to me.) Therefore, if they have not been 'called', what can I say to open their minds if God hasn't opened it enough for Jesus to enter? If God called someone, and that someone came to Jesus, and somewhere down the line our paths cross, sure I will sit down and discuss my Jesus. Till then, there's not much I can say to open a door that God had not knocked on, yet.
I understand the evangelical aspect, and the need for, of Christianity. And I'm sure they help to bring the 'called people' to Jesus. That's a lifelong path one either chooses to walk or not. Hopefully, anyone who was called and came to Jesus will stay and remain. But we do see that some fall away. We have been told of those by Jesus as well.
As Jesus had explained, the seed needs good soil to grow. Not only that, sometimes people walk on it and trample on it before it can sprout and grow. Christianity is still relatively new for Koreans. So I reckon they are still in the fragile stage of ultimately becoming mature Christians. And as such, some aspects of how they worship reflect that still-growing entity. Some even among them complain that the church is used for businesses or for social gatherings. But is that so bad? As Jesus said, he who is not against me is for me.
Whatever the reason people gather in the name of Jesus can't be all that bad. It's just a maturing process.
Before we can eat mature food, we all start out buy eating baby foods. Even Jesus alluded to it. For that is how we all grow. Then, as fellow countrymen, we only need to realize that. That even in the circle of Christians, some are still very young and will cause trouble- while others will carry the heavier and more mature role of carrying the message of Jesus forward in a manner that is worthy and becoming of a Christian. These are the people doing God's work... I think. And for these people, we are still here praising Jesus and God, and spreading peace and love.
Contrary to what others have said, I still see the Christians, at the core, as the MOST respectful, tolerant, patient, merciful, forgiving, and truly loving people anywhere. That is regardless of the color of their skins or nationality or whatever that is that seems to always divide the humankind. And yes, it was the Christians that built this country. So enough of knocking around Christians already. If you don't believe it, go read this country's history. It is that Christian love that is still moving this country towards something that is higher than all of us. Well, at least trying to. That's good enough for me.
I will take Christianity and all who fancy themselves to be Christians. The good, the bad, the weird, the ugly, the strange, and some even with warts! I have faith that eventually, with time and patience, Jesus will turn even the most idiotic Christian into someone who is Christlike. (Probably when that person is like 100 years old or something. I myself am included in that village idiot group.)
They said the school's mission is to teach student's to serve the church. I think they better pick the people they want to serve, a little better. Maybe he didn't like being brainwashed, because in my opinion that's all Religion is, brainwashing. We would all be better off if everyone was an Atheist. Atheist don't bother anybody.
And the atheists live off of the fruits of Christians' sufferings and struggles that ultimately have brought this wonderful country. It is so wonderful that even they can live in love and peace and in freedom. In freedom not to choose that which gave them what they have.
BTW, how is their existence recorded? What does it say about them in their driver's license? Oh, I bet they too are referenced by Jesus' Birth!! I bet even the Atheist's life is recorded as having been on some 1,950 years, 5 months, and 5 days AFTER the Birth of Jesus! Right? I knew I was right! Go look at every piece of your existence and tell me how it is recorded. Please??
Oh, and that goes for all and every non-Christians, too. You can be a hindu or muslim or a jew or buddhist or a gibbersih worshiping monkey, your entire existence is and will always be recorded in REFERENCE TO JESUS' TIME. Everything in this entire world is referenced by and recorded according to His Birth/First Coming that created the world as we know it today.
If you don't believe me, go take a look at how your life is recorded- for the existence you are having now.
That's just the Truth whether one knows it or not. It's all the same. The same numerical numbers. Be in Russia, India, or even Katmandu. This world is one and as thusly (new word?!) recorded everywhere you go, our time is recorded by the Birth of Jesus. Do you understand?
P.S. If someone doesn't like the fact that we live inside Jesus' time, I think they can take it up with God. Though... God might just laugh at them. Or God might say, OK, do YOU want to do what Jesus did and let people kill you even though you know and they know you are innocent? If you can do that, sure, God might consider resetting the human time... and start all over again. Personally, I try to avoid pain. So Jesus, who went through that pain for me so I can live and hope for an eternal life, is way alright with me! I will follow Him- no problemo.
P.P.S. BTW, it actually takes human intelligence to understand Jesus and God. That's why one gains intelligence as we study and get to know Christ. God gives it. and that's how human intelligence grows.
Whts Going in here, it doesn't take intelligence to understand silly n stupid fiction n fables. It takes intelligence and smartness to grow out of such nonsense/delusions like your Jeebus and Buybull stories. Our time is recorded by some fictional character because the world was controlled by Europeans who were deluded into that fairly tale at the time they devised the Gregorian Calendar. If it was not Christianity, the same calender might have been accounted for the birth of Thor or Hades. So, stop peddling nonsense related to an accident of history and court is an evidence for some stupid fairy tale. Just because the dates are accounted for my Christ's birth doesn't make it true. We could as well come up with dates based on Big Bang and still be fine.
Also America was not brought to be a Christian country. So stop lying for Jeebus. Go read Thomas Jefferson's or James Madison's accounts on the silliness of Christian doctrine. America was meant to be a secular country, where the govt. is indifferent to any religious delusions n stupidity. Jeebus or your Christian 'doG' created the world, nonsense. Shows why the Christians are uneducated bigots. Go read some science and cosmology for goodness sake.
Looks like you lost your IQ, intelligence and education reading too much into the Buybull bullmanure. Yea I can take up issues with God after I die. I agree with you that I get closer to 'doG' after I die, why because after I die, I don't exist anymore and your doG doesn't exist anyways. Thats a nice way to get close to 'doG'.
Tarzan, there are many atheists and Christians alike who commit crimes and harm others. Religion has helped some, and it has hurt some, just as any other teachings. The transcendental aspect to every human is that they are human and are capable of great evil if they fulfill that propensity through sin nature. Every human regardless of what they choose to believe can, and most likely will be hypocritical in some way, shape or form. Perhaps if Christianity "brainwashed" people in such a way that promoted them to service, love and respect of others, it wouldn't be such a big problem. But as it is, we have religions carrying absolutes as a means to promote evil, which is not what Jesus taught. So, they should not be considered Christians if they will not follow what Christ taught.
Condolences to the families of the victims.
And the man who did the shooting...
To them all, may God have Mercy.
Um no, the shooter doesn't deserve any mercy; he deserves to become the girlfriend of a big mean guy in prison!!!
It's a shame. All they were doing is just trying to make a better life for themselfs! They didn't have to die like that, so sad.
Yes. Can you imagine being 40+ some year old man... in another country and not being able to speak the language of the land. And trying to learn something that will get him a job- even the one where your job is to give baths to patients and empty their bed pans...
They were trying to make something better for their lives. Perhaps there is a bigger picture here. A lesson that we need to learn...
I'm not Korean, but this article is stupid. It's like a giant finger at this school... saying "Hey look, Koreans... bad!"
What's the point of telling the world that this school caters to Koreans? Whooo the f$%^ cares, all this does is shine a bad spotlight on a school who's only notoriety is having a tragedy killing. Poor students and families, condolences.
All the Korean people we know are very humble, like the Japanese. No one ethnic group is perfect. We love our Korean friends, some of the sweetest people I've ever known. Great food too. What a tragedy for everyone involved..
That was very nice of you say. I'm sure many will appreciate your kind words.
Thanks for the sane thought.
THANK YOU!!! Ever since this story aired I can't help but wonder how many people who never gave me a second thought now view me with suspicion. I've always thought it was sad that I had to consider it a stroke of luck that I can, if need be, pass for full Caucasian, but unfortunately it still comes in handy sometimes! :/
Korean christianity is nuts....it's like a fascism meets jesus and the disciples lose (you will be puniched!). Would you go to a church where they publicly and repeatedly humiliated you....in front of everyone in the church? Yet, they keep coming back....look at the university's own info.
izandroro,
Are you a Korean? Are you familiar with their culture and what they have to do to live in a country where for many of them are at disadvantage? Are you a nut and fanatic?
If not, you'd be nuts to waste your time posting comments on something that has nothing to do with you. Sure beats me why people do the things they do.... Yup, i've seen the purple people, yellow people, the white people, the brown people, the red people, the black people, the beige people, the green people, the pink people, the people who are not even people people, and even some monkeys keep going back to stuff that even I know is just silly to do... Go figure- humans buncha nuts!
Ignore him, What's Going On Here! He's just never met me or my mom's family so he doesn't realize how much he's talking out of school!!
Wow, so how many of these wingnut "colleges" are there around the country "teaching" our future "leaders" that there's a boogie man under the bed?
This is Bachman/Santorum kind of crazy!! These people should be in a mental hospital not running an anti-American, Taliban like, terrorist training camp right here in our own country.
Yup. And keep on giving the tax payer money to those teaching our kids that we came from a fish! Or, uh... wait, was it an ape? Yup! Right on, bro!
Me, personally, if I can be stupid enough to think that human species is not species unto itself from the beginning, then can I be from a mockingbird? They move their wings so fast and make pretty sounds and all. If I had to come from something else than my God given divine self, I definitely want to come from a bird! Who knows, maybe one day I can grow wings and fly away! Right? Because I have to go back to the way I was, surely, I will evolve to become a bird again!
Whats Going on Here, I rather come from a fish or ape, rather be a piece of mud as your foolish Buybull says. Yea shows why fundamentalist Christians like you are uneducated fools. Evolution never claims that you turn back into a mocking bird nor you came from one. Atleast get educated and understand what your criticizing. Wait, 'educated', thats a pretty tough thing for a home schooled Buybulled thumping ignorant moron, who thinks the world was created by a magic boogieman by waving his magic wand on some mud to make it human. Excuse me, this is 2012 and you wingnut dimwits still believe in this rubbish. I really hope for goodness sake that your kids get a better education and don't turn to be fools like you.
Another nutcase takes it out on innocent people.
'nuff said.
Let's all get back to our regularly scheduled programming.
When's Sesame Street on? I gotta check out the Big Bird. It could be my ancestor.
Yea surely a Big bird is a better ancestor than a lump of mud
Have you seen these people in church in their home country? The kooks of America got to them and they're like pentecostals on speed! I thought I saw some crazy sh*t back home in Kentucky - this is even more extreme than that. People running up to the front, screaming at the top of their lungs, laughing at each other, dive-bombing the stage, flopping around, bouncing up and down on the chair with their eyes closed, having an ORGASM in front of her little boy. It's BEYOND hysterical, look up the videos on YouTube. "Korean church" "Korean christians", something like that.
NO WONDER this guy's a lunatic!
Here it is: the Korean-American pentecostal version of "christian":
It's more like a CIRCUS! LOL

leave it to msnbc to use this tragedy to attack a school for it's religious faith. shame on you!
Shame on them for pointing out an overwhelmingly blatant fact of the case?
