Alawadi, an Iraqi-American woman who was beaten to death in her U.S. home is a possible hate crime victim, although new court documents raise questions about family members.
Court records released Thursday show that an Iraqi immigrant who was killed last month in her California home had a rocky relationship with her teenage daughter and apparently was planning to divorce her husband, NBC San Diego reported.
No arrests have been made in the killing of Shaima Alawadi, 32, who died from blunt force injuries to the head.
NBC San Diego said the records include the description from a neighbor of a possible suspect running from the area of the house on March 21 about 45 minutes before her daughter Fatima called 911. Fatima told reporters and police that she discovered her mother unconscious in a pool of blood in their El Cajon home. Alawadi died in the hospital three days later.
A "dark skinned male" in his "late teens or early 20s" was seen running from the area, NBC San Diego reported, citing an police affidavit for a search warrant filed in Superior Court in San Diego.
The affidavit indicated 17-year-old Fatima was upset about the family's plan to have her marry one of her cousins, NBC San Diego said.
It noted that on Jan. 31, Alawadi called the police to report Fatima missing. The daughter was located 20 minutes later and the call was canceled, according to the affidavit.
The document says police records show officers answered a call reporting two people were possibly having sex in a parked car — a couple identified as Fatima and Rawnaq Yacub, 21. After Alawadi arrived to pick up her daughter, the teen reportedly jumped out of her mother’s car when it was moving about 35 miles per hour and was injured. In the hospital, she told paramedics she was being forced to marry her cousin against her will.
A search of Fatima's cellphone showed that while the teen was being interviewed by detectives, she received a cryptic text from someone that read: "The detective will find out tell them cnt talk'," NBC San Diego reported, citing the affidavit.
A note left near Alawadi on the day of her death called her a "terrorist" and sparked the theory that her killing was a hate crime based on religious or ethnic bias. Police have cautioned against rushing to that conclusion, noting that it was just one possibility that was being explored.

The news site UT San Diego, which obtained the police records first, said a sheriff’s lab examination of the note showed that it was a photocopy of the message, not an original.
UT San Diego also reported that a search of the family’s cars turned up court paperwork — not yet completed — used to file for divorce. Another form requesting a waiver of fees had been filled out by hand with Alawadi's name, adress and phone number.
Alawadi's husband, Kassim Alhimidi, and Fatima are reportedly in Iraq, where they traveled for Alawadi’s burial.
The records initially were released inadvertently to UT San Diego by the the Superior Court in El Cajon, a press officer at the court said. Other press organizations were then given access to the information.

Up in Minnesota, Somali muslim immigrants "working" as taxi drivers have been refusing to pick up rides if they have pork(hot dogs, ribs), alcohol or dogs. Murdering a wife is a hobby for Muslims
That the woman is dead is tragic. However, since the Muslim religion treats dogs better than women, it stands to reason that nothing will come of this case. It will all blow over and be forgotten in a month. After all, Our Muslim President does not want to tick off his buddies.
The girl was already an old maid. so they hooked her up with a husband/cousin. The mom started having babies at like 13 or 14. America needs a giant fricking NO VACANCY sign hanging from the statue of liberty.
Here's what I want to know. Usually the family is the prime suspect (note not withstanding, I mean how hard is that to fake obviously) How we're they even allowed to get on a plane and leave the country?!
I'm a tolerant person. Our country was founded on the basic principals of "Freedom of Religion". But I'm sorry, every time I turn around now I'm always hearing about some type of crime committed by someone in the Islamic/Muslim community in the name of "Honor" or "Religious Law" and its got to stop!
You don't see modern Catholics dragging Wiccans away to be tortured and burned at the stake as witches do you? NO! Because this is the 21st century and America where we realize that other religious groups have the right to exist! And most people try to live within the law's of this country not the law's of their Religion!

I also belive it was a honor killing for them. I would suspect that it went down this way. Its stated that the daughter didnt want to get married to her cousin at all and did imply that she already was seeing someone in the USA. The story also indicated that the mother was divorcing the father that alone is enough for the honor killing aspect to come in. Now I do belive a deal was struck between the father and the daughters boyfriend. If he would help in the honor killing of his wife he would change who his daughter would marry then. This explains multiple aspects of the crime. Daughter "asleep" upstairs lets boyfriend in to kill. Later the she gets a text that the cops suspect and not to say anything. Father has a alliby being away from the house. Remember a witness seen a dark-skin man running from the home.Dark-skin doesnt always mean black it could be a arabic male running from the scene of the crime. Now father and daughter are back in Iraq for the funeral where her old marriage will be cancled and a new one instated. If i were the police i would keep a eye out on her BF she has here and see if he has any trips to Iraq planned now.

Here's the "something else" they might be missing. An "honor killing" and that the "terrorist" note may be a ploy used to throw everyone off the scent of the real murderer.
I'm just saying, it looks suspiscious as hell. Why target the wife after the husband takes the kids to school? Does something smell fishy here? Does the husband usually take the kids to school? Why just target the wife? Why not the whole family? Why not the husband?

killings."
Numerous politicians from both major parties do not want the American
people to know that many innocent Muslim women and girls are murdered in
our country every year. They are afraid Americans can't handle this
truth/fact and there will be backlashes toward the Muslim community.
As with the murders of the Jewish people by the Nazis in WWII, the murders of
Muslim women and girls by Islamists must be accurately reported to
Americans. It is an injustice to the innocent people who were killed and
to the thousands more each year who will be murdered because of Islam
and Sharia law.

It would be interesting (and heart-breaking) that if this is one of those '[dis]honor' killings, throwing a photocopied note that reads 'terrorist' onto the victim's body sends everyone into spasms of shouting 'hate crime.'

And where is NOW and all the other women's rights groups? If a white American male (especially Protestant)even looks at a woman, the women's rights people squawk and crap just like a seagull. But if a muslim man treats his wife or daughter like an animal, beats or kills them, hey, it's religious freedom, baby! Don't even think of saying anything against perverts, as long as they are not a white Christian male. Hypocritical, maybe?
WWych, haven't you heard? The biggest women's movement drive is now the "million-hijab" project on college campuses, where women are urged to wear the Muslim head covering in a campaign against anti-Muslim "hate crimes." I am still wondering what they will have to say when the police announce that this murder was not a hate crime at all, but a plain old-fashioned husband-wife killing.

@BGMorgan, you are such a hater. it is steming from your comments. Firstly, if you ever went to muslims countries you will see that they wear jeans, shirts and western clothing and love our culture. They eat macdonalds and love to listen to our music. Secondly, women even if covered in hijabs (which only 40% of all muslim women do) and veils, will wear mini skirts or should i sau, western fashionable clothings of their choice. i have known and worked with many muslims and as compared to you, i dont hate them, i accept them the way they are. they have always been nice to me and my co workers and i have been nice to them. you hate the fact that they dont follow what u believe in and now blaming them for "NOT assimilating". you are one hate monger and i bet the religion you follow is what made u the way u are !! do some soul searching before start hating people only because they dont follow your religion. Talk about twisting the facts and hiding your own guilt. Looser!
This is what Paul Harvey would call "The rest of the story"! Let's see... which story is more plausible... a random hate crime in the middle of an Islamic neighborhood by an anti-Muslim attacker (complete with photocopied note)... or enraged husband that finds out his wife is divorcing him - both of whom come from a country and culture that has a reputation for brutalizing women. Occam's razor my friends.

I am sure that the police will figure out who murdered her. However, it sounds like the plot has already been on "Law and Order."
