So we could prevent 12,632 gun homicides (some of which were criminals intent on harm) by banning guns IF banning guns worked so much better than banning drugs now and banning alcohol during Prohibition in the 1920, while crapping on the now tattered remains (after the Patriot Act, etc) of the Bill of Rights.

On the other hand we could prevent 99,000 deaths by convincing doctors to wash their hands and use bleach.

If the true agenda was saving lives, there are a lot of areas we could look at besides banning guns. Just like if saving lives was the true agenda, there are a lot better routes than the TSA or Patriot Act. But we live in a nation of sheep who think the government is their friend and should do everything for everyone. The failures of local, state and Federal government during Katrina should serve as a reminder.

First off I want to start out by saying....my thoughts are with the families, it would be hard for sure coping with the fact a loved one has been shot! No matter who pulled the trigger! Banning guns, is not the answer, besides you would never get all the guns off the streets ever! Guns have had their place and have been used in every generation. Not too long ago, living by the gun was the way, you were either fast on the draw or you were dead! It wasn't about race, creed! It was the way! The laws back then were different, if you were caught...you either died by the gun or found yourself swinging at the end of a long rope, in front of the town for all to see! It didn't matter your color, race, creed, if you were caught and made it to trial, you died!

People sit and ask: "Was it a hate crime?" Well...lets see, if you roll up on someone or draw down on them, you are not sending a message of love, you're not there to say hello, you pull a gun on someone, you have every intent on taking that persons life! And color has nothing to do with it! Because all through history, every race and color has pulled the trigger and killed!

If the Government even tried to disarm all Americans, I believe they are smart enough to realize it would evoke another Civil War in this Country! There are too many people and so much fire power out there, you would have a shooter behind every blade of grass, behind every tree!

If you want to send a strong clear message to your streets about senseless shootings and killings, then go back to what used to work...HANG THEM in public!

Last year wifey and I were in South Africa. The population of the Greater Johannesburg area is 6 million which is the same as the SF Bay Area. There are 5000 REPORTED murders, who knows how many more are unreported. There are very few guns in SA,,, the most common method of murder is to hack your victim to death with a machete.

You speak of the mayors against guns, socialist michael bloomberg's pet group to destroy the second amendment, and completely fail to see the issues.

Issue 1: the cities with the most gun violence have the strictest gun laws in place already. NYC, DC, Chicago, LA, ect.

Issue 2: the cities with the most gun violence have the Highest number of liberals, and liberal judges imparting the most lenient sentences for violent crimes.

Issue 3: the cities with the least gun violence have the least restrictive gun laws.

Issue 4: the liberal media (controlled by the likes of soros, bloomberg, and other socialists) love every opportunity to exploit the weak mind of the public, conditioning it with fluff and blather then throwing fear and prejudice out as they see fit to fill their agenda.

Issue 5: the second amendment is part of the bill of rights, just as is free speach, due process and others. It is very clear these rights, all of them, are under attack. Example: the media's railroadingg of George Zimmerman, without due process, convicting him by presenting lies and half-truths to the public and supporting those that go along with it.

If you want the bill of rights dismantled, as the socialists do, give up your right to defend your self because a criminal takes a life. Give up theright to due process, because the press is becoming the judge and jury, then you give up the right to free speech, the right to worship or not as you see fit, and all the rest of the freedoms given naturally and guaranteed by the Constitution.

Jeesus. Guns may not be the total problem with murders in this country but they sure make it easy. Trying to get up real close and stab someone with a knife is tough. You also run the risk that you did not stab them in the right place or not enough times and they survive. Takes someone who knows what he or she is doing to get the job done with a knife. Any nut can pull a trigger. Close enough and you don't even need to aim. One in the head will do it. Even in the body chances are you have whacked the person. In most states handguns are simply to obtain. You do not have to purchase at a gun shop but can buy plenty from private parties. A gun though is also an excellent way to protect yourself since learning to use one is easy. Unfortunately, if you are going up against two guns it may not do you alot of good. Americans will never give up their love affair with guns so we just live with people getting shot with hand guns.

America has 90 guns per 100 people. The NEXT highest guns per capita country is Yemen with 61 guns per 100 people. Why does America need to have so many more guns than any other country?

If we have a sex offender list and we can exclude them for virtually any town in Miami simply for being on that list, then why can't we do the same for violent gang members, felons, DUI, or wife beaters?
