My first reaction in reading this was ..OMG...WHAT?!! But, at the beginning she and her family reacted emotionally and then the media and black leaders took charge feeding the issue and making it even worse. If zimmerman had just been charged with something instead of sent on his way as if trayvon's life had no worth, then this would have never gotten so out of control. Even though there are toxicology test results due only on the young man, they may reveal that he (like so many young adults/youth everywhere) was not 100% sober and may have been more physically aggressive/agitated than that photo of him at 12 posted everywhere implies. However, as time passed on and some of the other networks played the full 911 call things began to unfold. I lost trust with MSNBC on the Treyvon Martin case because MSNBC did not delibiritly play the full tape.

I hate the big deal made over this nothing. So NBC played the tape (on the today show I believe) that was edited down to take less than the full 4minutes, and it painted an incomplete/inaccurate picture. So what. The full tapes were always available, they were all over NBC, CNN, Fox (well, once they actually started covering the story), MSNBC, Huffington Post, Drudge, etc., etc. Needless to say, they were readily available.

Big whoop, much ado over nothing. Listening to the "edited tapes" sounds near exactly like listening to the full unedited tapes, it just takes less time. /yawn

haha, yeah. That was my first thought. The Martin family lawyer is one of the worst lawyers I've seen in awhile, he should be a lot smarter than this to let Trayvon's mom go on TV and state "I think it was an accident."

On the other hand however, I'm not convinced Angela Corey will actually proceed with 2nd degree murder charges (it'll be FAR to hard to prove) and will likely use those charges as a starting point for a plea deal negotiation (i.e. plea down to manslaughter, get a light sentence, etc.) which honestly doesn't really bother me (as I don't think Zimmerman really WAS a murderer in the legal sense, that is he did not pursue Trayvon with malice, just ignorance and stupidity).

Two people made plenty of mistakes which resulted in the death of Martin. Plain and simple if either Zimmerman or Martin would have made one different decision that night this probably would not have happened.

It's time for everyone to STFU. When this first hit national news, it was clear to anyone with a lick of sense that the Sanford Police Department wanted this case buried. They are a bunch of inept bunglers. OK. We know that.

Now the case has life. It appears that a great deal of evidence has already been destroyed or disregarded by the buffoons who run the PD. That's a shame because it is going to make the prosecution's case difficult. Still, as citizens who desperately want the judicial system to do its job, this is the best for which we can hope.

Regardless of the verdict/plea bargain/whatever, two very important issues are in the spotlight. The first is whether the Sanford Police Department's incompetence is unique or whether we have place far too much faith in police agencies that are far more interested in power than in protecting the public. (I believe the latter choice is the case.) Secondly, we are going to discover how badly the "Stand Your Ground" laws have been abused.

In the meantime, let's stop with all the BS speculation, and let the courts and their officers do their jobs.

My opinion is that it's just that. They MAY be able to prove 2nd degree murder (and I don't think they would have came with those charges is they had absolutely nothing) but the ultimate endgame MAY NOT BE 2nd degree murder with a plea deal, etc.

What more do you want? The police had good charges to be filed, Manslaughter. The District Attorney would not take them and ordered George Zimmerman released. Seven hours or seven days, they still would have been gathering more evidence, witness statements and field officers reports, before it ever went to trial. I think Tray's mom is a wise woman with the instincts of a mother. I believe that when mr. Z ends up in jail he will be murdered by inmates, and if he somehow escapes prison it's highly probable he will be murdered by panthers or that type of vigilante. For all of you saying that Trayvon's mother is back peddling, that they must be running scared, I think you may not understand the meaning of 2nd degree murder. An accidental shooting can get a 2nd degree murder charge. It is defined as a non-premeditated killing, resulting from an assult where the death of the victim was a distinct possiblility. That seems to be exactly what happened in this case (without me being privy to real evidence, just what has been presented in the media). Zimmerman followed this kid, and Trayvon, fearing for his safety, may have attacked this armed stranger following him (sounds to me like Trayvon was "standing his ground"). Zimmerman had a gun and used it to assult Trayvon, knowing full well that the gun had the possiblility of killing the person he had followed and was shooting.

Also, if Trayvon was this huge, athletic kid, why, why, why did Zimmerman follow him in the first place? Unless he was ready to hide behind his gun. From everything I've read, Zimmerman put himself in the position, by following Trayvon, to have to defend himself if there was a confrontation. This isn't Zimmerman standing his ground, but it does seem like Trayvon was within his rights to stand his ground and was shot for it.

I am looking forward, as I'm sure most everyone who wants real justice, to hear the actual evidence as it is presented in court, rather than what the media reports, and the conjuncture posted on these boards.

I commend Ms. Fulton and sincerely sympathize with all involved. Unintentional acts, implied or provoked and considered an accident, are not a universal bandaid. I hope that we all can continue the rest of our lives without the pain and suffering her family and friends are experiencing. I fasted for three days and directed my prayers to her and the family out of respect and not because accidents happen. I also feel that Z now understands the ramifications of any confrontation should remain a verbal and not physical debate, with the understanding that both parties have a right to their beliefs. WMG-21 I agree with you. No one knows what he/she would have done in the same situation and we still don't know the whole story. What made it really bad is Jackson, Sharpton, Black Panthers (didn't even know they still existed), those two female politicians they acted like crazy fools saying what they said (they need to step down immediately!), the president, and people who had nothing better to do than act crazy without knowing what really happened. I can imagine how terrified Zimmerman's family must have been. The Black Panthers should get cited for putting out a poster implying to get Zimmerman dead or alive, that is horrible! It's my understanding that the police detained Mr. Zimmerman and questioned him for 7 hours. A lot of the Left Wing Liberal/Progressive Wack Jobs and professional race baiters are making it sound as if the police showed up, looked at Trayvon laying on the ground, asked Zimmerman what happened, looked back at Trayvon's body and told Zimmeran he was good to go. Then you have the video of Mr. Zimmerman being lead through the police department in handcuffs with what is clearly a wound to the back of his head. Let's put yourself in the detective's place. Mr. Zimmerman claimed he had been attacked and shot in self defense. One shot. The detective sees the wound to the back of the head which would be consistent with him being attacked. It's apparent that nobody really undestands the "stand your ground" laws. Stand your ground applies to your property...NOT your physical location. In other words, Trayvon could not "stand his ground" because he had no ownership in the community. Zimmerman's standing of his ground is up for interpretation of the law. Because he was the Neighborhood Watch Captain, it could be argued that his "ground" was the entire community, a community that he owns property in, has common ownership of the "public" areas, and has been asked to "protect." Stand your ground was created to allow you to protect your property...so if someone unwanted walks onto your property, you ask them to leave, and they don't; you have the right to use the "necessary" force to get them to leave. Stand your ground can not be applied if you are at a shopping mall and someone attacks you (then it's just plain self-defense).

Sally Lu - you don't like the "conjecture" of these boards, but you yourself are assuming that Zimmerman approached Trayvon waving the gun around. For all we know, he may have approached Trayvon to ask him what he was doing there, with gun concealed from sight. Trayvon may have been indignant, and Zimmerman may have returned the indignancy. The situation may have escalated to the point where it became a physical situation. While being in the fight, Zimmerman may have felt in danger and pulled the gun, not with the intention to kill, but with the intention to end the altercation, but the gun was discharged killing Trayvon.

I'm not saying that's what happened, and if it did, I think it would be hard to apply the "stand your ground" law. Although I can see it's application as well.

But, claiming Trayvon was standing his ground by the law would be like saying someone goes into your backyard, you ask them to leave, they don't, it gets physical and escalates, then claiming the PERPETRATOR was standing their physical position. Standing your ground applies to property YOU OWN (or assume ownership through a lease). In this case, it could also be argued that Zimmerman was acting in the community's stead by standing the ground of the community in a private, gated community against an unrecognized, potential perpetrator....by asking him what his business was and asking him to leave.

The question will probably never be answered...but what started the incident? Did Zimmerman pull up next to Trayvon and ask him what he was doing or where he was going? Did Trayvon respond with hostility? Did Zimmerman initially approach Trayvon with hostility? Did Zimmerman stop Trayvon and ask what he was doing, Trayvon ran, and Zimmerman followed in his car....at which point the situation was already escalated?

There won't be any plea deals due to the involvement of Justice and The Office of the President. Due to the amount of grandstanding, the case won't even see a trial date for 10 years because every potential jury pool in the country is tainted. It will end up as the Casey Anthony trial did, with no justice for the victim or the accused, and a tremendous cost to the taxpayers. Our President drove that nail in Trayvon's coffin. Instead of expressing his condolences to the family and promising a thorough investigation, he had to grab his sound byte in an election year and make inflammatory comments that were broadcast to the entire planet. A child died, and the importance at this point should be to determine WHY, instead of pandering to the press, who's obvious intent is to ignite racial tensions in an election year.

I hope to God that George Zimmerman is not the racist and cold blooded murderer that some people think he is. My opinion is that he is not, he was just too zealous and followed Martin when he probably never should have followed him at all in the first place, he should have called 911 right away and stop right there and wait for them. I do tend to think that he stopped following after he was told not to tho ("we don't need you to do that"), but I am not certain of this since I was not there. I think the whole thing may have started with a misunderstanding on both sides, Zimmerman thinking that Martin was "up to no good", and Martin thinking that Zimmerman was a creepy guy "up to no good" following him.

No matter what the outcome is after the trial, assuming there will be one, this should be a lesson for all of us, and especially for neighborhood watchers: don't follow a suspect, just call 911 and wait.

And the processing as evidence of the Evidence of the High School that Suspended Martin. Fair would be the News Media putting Martin's own Facebook Photos, and the Parents no longer giving photos of when Martin was 12-15; basically recent photos of both.

Fact versus fiction. Within Law Enforcement and Military, it is known that on 2% of the World will use Deadly Force without hesitation. And most of that 2% is us, thru training and experience (us seeing our Military Friends and Buddies die because we hesitated).

This Hesitation allows an unarmed opponent to accomplish "Closing Distance" against an armed opponent. The Law Enforcement that are trained about this, know not to let a suspect too close to them, part of the reason for the current procedures for applying restraints on a suspect (same as here with suspected enemy combatants). And by the way, size, weight, etc. do not matter in most cases, and as a matter of experience that seemingly physical disadvantage or appearance is actually an advantage (over confidence, letting guard down or the mentality of "routine").

Growing up,I have had a boy throw a basketball (In gym class) at me from behind and hit me in the head,and was laughing about it.(the first act of a fight,that no one saw) And being like I was quick tempered went to after that person. As soon as I caught the guy he starts yelling ( to gain the attention of the teacher) They only see me going after this person,and not the initial act that set me off to going after him. So I was the one that was sent to the office. All the while they are laughing about what they did.(They got there's later though busted doing it again )

So the point is no one saw the initial act that started all this.

It is very possible that after Trayvon ran Zimmerman lost him briefly and found him hidding then demands from himto know what is he doing here. He tries to run away again but Zimmerman is close enough to tackle him to the ground but with his weight and motion rolls on the ground with Trayvon and ends up on the bottom. Now he has Trayvon's arms and is trying to hold on to him and to gain control and a better position(to get Trayvon off him) Trayvon is trying to break free(and at some point may have hit Zimmermans nose) and is yelling for help. And NO ONE COMES. At this point the witness see this and see a man with a white shirt (but really it is a grey sweatshirt pullover((hoodie))on someone with a red shirt,(really his jacket) so he also does not really see what happened he comes into this situation after the start of all this. Now Zimmerman has a concealed weapon and now it is exposed for all to see(if anyone else were close enough to),and Trayvon does see it, he is still yelling for help and somewhere after all this trayvon ends up dead. This is just what COULD have happened So things are not always as they seem to be. This is going to be a tough one for a jury to sift through. I do have confidence that they will be fair and impartial in their findings

In the 911 call I heard (not the original one the news media later admitted was doctored), Zimmerman said he wasn't certain what race the person was, but maybe he was black.

Alleged evidence seems to indicate he was walking on the SIDEWALK. His hood was up because (now try to follow along here) IT WAS RAINING. And (again tough concept here) he was almost undoubtedly trying to stay DRY. You really need to not only check your facts, but use some logic and common sense.

And even the alleged facts I state above directly from the police report could be wrong. Why? Because ALL the facts have not come out yet. Including the autopsy report, which could be a key piece of evidence. Which is why I stated you need to check ALL your facts.

And the one that says if you do, and they happen to not like being followed, you have the right to punch them in the face and bang their head on the pavement. And while you're at it, please cite the law that a 911 operators request for someone is stop following someone is a command by a police official that must be obeyed.

First, GZ was licensed to legally carry a concealed weapon - it's extremely easy to get a permit to conceal and carry in FL. Seriously - it took my husband about five minutes of showing the gun store owner he knew how to operate a weapon, paying a fee, and sending the paperwork in to the state (however, because of previous conversation, the proprietor was well-aware of my husband's military experience). He may have needed fingerprinting, I don't remember. The fact that the neighborhood watch was not registered with a national organization does not make it illegal, either.

Second, it had started to rain lightly, in which case I would put up my hood, too. There is nothing suspicious about strolling in the rain, talking to your girlfriend on the phone, with your hood up. Remember when people thought any black person with a beeper (I'm dating myself) and later a cell phone was thought to be a drug dealer? Same thing - any black person with their hood up is not a gang banger.

Third, if I were Trayvon, I, too would have been extremely troubled by a big, strange guy following me around my dad's neighborhood in a truck, exiting the truck to continue pursuit. I don't wonder why the teen may have confronted GZ.

Lastly, in the case of the photo that was initially distributed, it's probably the mother's favorite picture of him. It probably didn't occur to her that he looked much older, having gone through a normal adolescent growth spurt over the last couple of years. She only sees her child, no matter his age. I look at photos of my son a couple of years ago and see the same boy I see today, even though others may see a baby compared to the little boy. Mothers see through different lenses when it comes to their children. The size of Trayvon when he was killed makes no matter.

I saw the video of Zimmerman the night he was brought in the station. He was no physical weakling(except maybe a mental weakling).

Trayvon was no UFC or MMA fighter. It's highly suspect that a 5' 9"(same as I) full grown 200+ lbs, twenty something year old man could be dominated by someone of Trayvon's size/weight/age.

Maybe if Zimmerman was physically infirm(he wasn't), it would fly.

From the 911 tapes it sounds as if Trayvon knew that he was going to or could possibly die at the hands of George. If it were an accident, most likely all you would have heard were possibly scuffling sounds and then a "shot" ring out...NOT screaming for dear life, then a shot. Does not make sense. For those that say that George was not sure of the "race" of Trayvon...well, the only race of people commonly and unjustifiably referred to as n-word, are black people. If George did not know Trayvons race, then why use the n-word. Also, why would the 911 operator allow George to use that language without reprimanding him during the 911 taping. Hopefully, that is not common, coded and loaded language for them. Meanwhile, the parents attitudes have changed simply because SOMEONE has listened and heared them. It is difficult to not be against the world, when someone (being George) and the entire Sanford PD is giving the family possible reasons for suspicion. When did Martin's parents offer speculation of any kind prior to the arrest? From what I recall, all they wanted (as I did) was for due process to occur. They will now get their chance, as the parents of any child vitcim of a homocide should.

What I can't believe is Zimmermans' story has holes in it, parts of it don't make sense, and other parts already have been proven by evidence that he is lying, yet people keep using his statements as their evidence. It doesn't make any sense that this kid was almost home and decided to attack some guy for following him... it does make more sense that Zimmerman wasn't going to let him get away and pulled his gun out and told the kid to stop. The prosecution, in an attempt to pacify the angry black's calling for Zimmerman's head, reached too high with the 2nd degree murder charge. I believe it's likely he will be acquitted.

Zimmerman's father said the screaming was from his son. So that has NOT been established who was doing the screaming.

Many say that Zimmerman continued to follow the teenager, but Zimmerman told his said he had lost him between the buildings and thus stopped and went back to his car.

With respect to following, the problem is waiting for the police will most likely allow the suspect to get away. So let me give an example what something that happened in my rural area one day. A dark van has been seen a few times during the week. Nobody comes on my road since it leads to nowhere. Well my Zimmerman like neighbor saw the van for the second time, and not recognizing it, followed it to see who was in the van and get the license plate and report him as suspicious. What were his alternatives? What is the difference tailing somebody with a car, or on foot? My neighbor does have a gun. I am not sure he brought it with him, but he may have not knowing what he might come up against. The van DID NOT BELONG IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, but my neighbor did risk his safety by investigating it. If he had waited for the sheriff the guy may have by then left the road. He was parking along side the road and throwing trash.

Most things are not so black and white as many posters on this site think they are.

As far as this kid being a minor, big deal. Minors kill others every day. Sad, but true. Actually a minor would scare me more, because they have less control over their actions. I mean they are much more emotionally charged which is perhaps what happened in this case.

Who did Martin think Zimmerman was? Was Martin wondering if he was in a gang? So did both think the other was in some sort of gang?

I feel for both set of parents. I have been that parent of the accused. I have been that parent after charges dropped and the many years it takes to rebuild a life after one's reputation has been ruined. It takes years, and often the scars are so deep many never recover. Zimmerman's parents have no control over their 28 yr old son, anymore than Martin's family. IMO, both need our prayers because even though Zimmerman is alive, he may spend his life in prison, or he may be found not guilty, but he is forever changed and will never be the person he once was.

Martin's mom thinks it was an accident. I think for sure Zimmerman never thought he would someday shoot and kill anybody. However, carrying a gun means that is possible. Even if he didn't have a gun, but Martin did, a gun could have killed Martin anyway if they struggled and Zimmerman got the gun.

Guns don't kill. People do. If you are going to carry a gun you must realize you may need to use it one day.

However, it is legal to carry in Fla and thus that cannot be used against the accused.

An accident? If Zimmerman feared for his life, regardless if that was reality, then it wasn't an accident.

I hope the truth comes out and I would hope the media is horribly embarrassed by the lack of judgement and the twisting of facts to suit some sort of agenda. Shame. Just shame.

This "kind gracious mother," and her estranged "gentlemen of the highest caliber" husband have been caterwauling, and cat-calling all over the state of Florida, and the national media for charges to be brought against a man who was only trying to protect himself from a beatdown by their son.

So, Martin comes into your neighborhood, is staring at your neighbors house, you think "Hmmm, what's he up to" and you walk up to him and say "Hey, do you need something" and Martin turns and punches you, knocking you to the ground, and starts to pound your head into the sidewalk. And you say to yourself… "Darn, this kid only has some Skittles in his pocket, guess I'll just go limp and let him continue to smash my head into the cement". The post intelligent part of your post was "oh I don't know". You should have just stopped there. It's better to remain silent and appear to be foolish, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

It was "Martin's neighborhood" as well, because he was staying there. He was not "staring" at anyone's house, but that's not illegal to begin with. The "witness" did not say that. He said he saw Martin on top of Zimmerman, not that he was assaulting him, not that he was pounding Zimmerman's head into the cement, which from what I read, Martin's body was not found near any cement to begin with. Someone is following you at night - you don't recognize them, and you are scared they might try to harm you. You decide to defend yourself - you might be a little bit younger and maybe in better shape, so you tackle the follower and beat him up, putting him in the hospital. You are then charged with assult, because you beat him up, causing serious bodily damage. Would you be liable for his injuries, when you were only trying to defend yourself? Or do you think that since you were the one who actually attacked (even though it was because you were in fear for your life) that you should be held accountable?

That is what seems to have happened here (I don't have all the evidence, so I can't say for sure). Seems that Trayvon was walking along, notices a stranger following him, and defends himself. Doesn't Trayvon have the right to stand his ground and defend himself? He was (it seems) in imminent danger. But unfortunately for him, Zimmerman had a gun, and so had the upper hand.

A person can't follow someone, then when they defend themself, claim self defence. A person wouldn't need to defend himself if he had not put himself in that position.

I find it fascinating that, from the beginning of the travesty, the only sane adult on the side of Trayvon Martin had been his heartbroken mother. The opportunistic goofballs exploiting the situation will not rest until Zimmerman is incarcerated for life or executed, guilty or not. I don't believe anyone who is not an expert at studying audio tapes can say that Zimmerman made any sort of racial slur on his call. It could any number of words and unless it can be clarified a whole lot more, it is useless as any sort of "proof"....in spite of what some you WANT to believe. Zimmerman made the call at 7:10 to 911 and was asked what the person wore...he indicated jeans and a hoody...we don't even know if the hoody was UP on Trayvon's head. At 7:12 when Trayvon's girlfriend was talking to him...2 minutes later, she said that Trayvon was walking and told her some man was watching him and then pulled up his hoody. So, please explain to me how Zimmerman was profiling a black man wearing a hoody. Odd...even Trayvon's Mom sees this incident as an "accident"....will be hard to convict him of 2nd degree murder I do believe when even the victim's mother see's information that tells her it was an accident.

I think this guy was tired of having his neighborhood be broken into, this kid has a history of dumb stuff, a situation got out of hand on both sides (because there is evidence that GZ was walking back to his car when TM approached him), and because the pot stirrers who want to slaughter Zimmerman speak the loudest no one will get a fair chance.

They will never be able to prove the shooting was committed because of pure hatred or ill will because it was not. He will be aquitted. A situation handled poorly & gone wrong? Do I have an image of what probably went down that day? Sure...my guess and I emphasize guess is Zimmerman was out doing the neighborhood watch gig as he takes a keen interest in the safety of his neighborhood. A lot of times these watch people are yoru Barney Fifes of the world and are good people with good intentions but they are not ready for the full implications of their actions. He came across Trayvon and did not recognize him from the neighborhood and started to follow. He thought he was doing a good thing and did not wish for this outcome. Trayvon was scared and at the same time probably pissed he was being followed to him for no good reason. From there we only know that Trayvon was tragically killed. Now that Zimmerman has been arrested let the process play out and se what happens just quit acting like you know what went down that day.

P.S. Regardless of how this has played out with Trayvon's parents I would like to think that any of us would be wanting answers and would probably welcome any support from the public regardless of if it was Jesse Jackson or not. They are hurting and want to know what happened. You gotta give these folks a little leeway. Look at the partial reports leaked from the SPD. Look at the comments made by officer Timothy Smith. The physical evidence recorded on his report immediately following his departure from the incident scene supports what Zimmerman says... "His back appeared to be wet and was covered in grass... Zimmerman was also bleeding from the nose and the back of his head."..."Zimmerman was placed in the rear of my police vehicle and was given first aid by the SFD".

Let's talk about what the officer had to say which somewhat corroborates Zimmerman's account.

Amy - did it ever occur to you (or any of the 3 who liked the comment) that Trayvon's mother might have trademarked his name, on the advice of an attorney, to protect his image and to keep others from making a profit from it? Always thinking the worst about someone you don't even know. Sad.

There is an outside chance that Mrs. Martin is saying this to set Zimmerman up to say something that can be used against him. But, as yet, there is no reason to draw a full conclusion to that effect and condemn her. Furthermore, if that is what is happenning, you can be sure that the prosecutor prodded her to do so.

Several people here have stated that Martin has no criminal record. You don't know that. Criminal records of persons under the age of 18 (unless they are tried as adults) are not available to the public.

Let's deal with some facts. Facts will be presented in bold. My own observations will be in normal text.

Fact: Zimmerman called the police. Martin did not. Now, it's possible for Zimmerman to call the police while planning to attack Martin. But that would make him either a criminal mastermind or too dumb to live. I don't believe he is either.

Fact: On the tape, when told he does not need to follow, Zimmerman agreed to stop following and to meet the police at the mailboxes. The initial reports left that part out. I notice that the people calling for Zimmerman's head have no problem with the dishonest editing of the tapes. There is no evidence that Zimmerman continued to follow Martin, let alone confronted or accosted him. Yet, the people that want Zimmerman's head keep repeating such claims as established fact.

Fact: Zimmerman was injured and his injuries were cleaned up before he was brought into camera-view. There are a couple of possibilities here. The injuries could have been so severe that failure to treat them on the spot would have meant Zimmerman's death. But, as that would pretty much establish a claim of self-defense, most of the people here won't want to hear that one. More likely is the possibility that the police just didn't want a sympathetic defendant. They can include in a report that Zimmerman was injured and cleaned up (in fact they did) and it won't have much effect on a jury. But if they charged him, and the defense brought out an image, taken at the police station, with his face covered in blood, there is no jury in the world that would convict him.

Fact: The media presented a distorted picture of the case. They kept showing that picture from when he was 12 and they kept calling him a child, conjuring images of a 5-year-old. They edited the tapes. And they portrayed Zimmerman as not much short of a demonic monster. That was not a reality. They were out for Zimmerman's blood from the beginning.

My own update: When I made that last post I was still looking at it as Mrs. Martin saying accident and calling for an apology.

Trial with a Unbiased Jury of His Peers. Prosecution MUST determine Beyond a Reasonable Doubt the Defendant is Guilty, any Doubt means Acquittal, as Innocent Until Proven Guilty Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. If found Guilty by an Unbiased Jury of His Peers, then the suspect is Convicted, and remanded into the Custody of the Prison Authorities as a Convict.

This is how Martin's Parents screwed up by going Public demanding "Arrest and Conviction" and saying "Murder", "Killer", etc. before consulting with an Attorney. And now the Prosecution is going to have a hard time because the Defense can call the Investigators and ask them if they heard Martin's Parents "Arrest and Convict", "Murder", "Killer", if they did then all the Evidence of their Investigations against Zimmerman is then "Tainted Evidence" and Prejudicial, and can never be used again, the same with Jury Selection and Vetting. Then the Defense can even show the MSN and Other Polls indicating that they want Zimmerman Convicted; translation, no matter what Zimmerman will never get a Fair and Just Trial with a Unbiased Jury of His Peers (A Right that no one's opinion can take away) so Zimmerman gets Acquitted based on a Technicality (Rule of Law).

And then Zimmerman has Lawyers File Lawsuits for Defamation of Character, Liable, Slander, etc. (including those that posted here, or anywhere, signed petitions, or Publicly Stated Guilty Until Proven Innocent (Violation of Rights) and ends up a Billionaire even after hundreds of Millions USD legal fees. With Zimmerman getting off "Scott Free", same with the Florida Police, District Attorney, Special Prosecutor, etc. as all of this was demanded by you the Court of Public Opinion and by Martin's Parents (also lose everything else they have). David, here in FL, gated communities are prevalent. They are not only for the elite; they are not only for the crime-paranoid. Someone from NBC, edited the 911 tapes for television, by removing the question "black, white or hispanic" and just put in "he looks black", they didn't "add words" or change any of the facts, but this apparently swayed a lot of non thinkers, (eyes rolling)....

LeoMax, the Today show admitted they were edited, but tried to claim their was no malicious intent of trying to shape a narrative. Problem is, they specifically edited out when Zimmerman was asked what race the suspicious character he was following was. That was the only indication of race Zimmerman made, but that's not good enough for the liberal media. Gotta distort it so it sounded like Zimmerman was following Martin BECAUSE he was black. Distortions and half-truths from MSNBC. This entire network might as well just have a trashy tabloid in super market checkout aisles. I think it woke alot of people including myself up to the fact that all news is biased. I used to rely on MSNBC for news because I thought they were at least honest. Now I see the network for what it is, a liberal serving propaganda machine. Any time your news coverage and commentary are congruent with the black panthers views, you are going to allienate a a vast majority of people. because I believe it was NBC had to come out and admit that they had tampered with the 911 tapes to make it sound like Zimmerman was being racist. At least that is what I heard... at this point it is hard to believe a lot of what the media says.

For example: Zimmerman did not just come out and say Trayvon was black...the 911 dispatcher asked Zimmerman what color Trayvon was so they could get an accurate description of Trayvon...at first Zimmerman was not even sure what color Trayvon was.

I do think Zimmerman should have been charged but I don't think the media should be editing tapes to try and sway the publics opinion. The real tapes will be heard in court, where no one has tampered with them.

Zimmerman does have concealed carry permit. However, if the restraining order against him was in effect on Feb. 26, he was not allowed to be carrying a weapon, permit or not. I think this was an unpremeditated shooting, but I also think the entire situation could have and should have been avoided if Zimmerman had just left it at a 911 call and let law enforcement do their jobs. Pure politics, I have a home in Florida and spent about 6 weeks a year there. The rest of the year I live in Detroit. In the past month we have been averaging 4 to 6 shooting deaths a week,including two young ladies put in a trunk (texting who kidnapped them) then shot in the head by two other young men and buried in shallow graves. Two children 6 months and 12 were shot in Drive bys. Very little words are written about either crime, yet this one gets national attention.

I'd like to answer this question. I live in a gated community in Florida. We've had our share of vandalism and crime. However, with over 150 homes in my community, I hardly know every single one of my neighbors and their guests. How preposterous to assume that one unrecognizable figure walking in the dark and in the rain is up to no good! For all I know the vandal could be my 36 year-old, white neighbor who still lives with his parents.

Now, If I were to see someone who was "obviously" up to no good, I would promptly grab my cell phone and call 911, then I'd go retreat to the safety of my own home.

I also live in Florida, in a neighborhood watch community, not gated, but we all have large parcels of land, one acre, and up. We have a multicultural group of neighbors, so I wouldn't "assume" anything if I saw someone I didn't recognize.

Our house is at the edge of the neighborhood, and you have to down a long driveway to get to it, kids cut through ALL the time to get out to a main street, to go to school. Over the years, things have come up missing, bikes and things, I still wouldn't follow someone to confront them, unless I saw them do something.

We have also had some robberies, but from "white" "oxy addicts".

XDM you have one thing posted that might not be true. When a person is charged with the higher crime as in 2nd degree murder it doesn't automatically include lesser charges like voluntary/involuntary manslaughter. That has to actually be written in when the charges are filed. Prosecutors do not like writing those lesser charges in because it makes them seen like they have no idea what they are doing or which way to go with the case. If they are trying to prove depraved they don't want to also say but maybe an accident or just negligence. Then the jury would be thinking make up your mind which is. Weakens the case. It will be interesting to see if they do include those lesser charges in this case.

Juries are given the choice of lesser crimes at deliberation all the time. I sat on the jury of a murder trial. We had three choices when we began deliberating, Murder, manslaughter or negligent homicide.

I am puzzled by the fact that the media continues to refer to Zimmerman as a half white and half Hispanic man yet this is the same media who ALL refer to Obama as the "First Black President" of the US when in fat he is also half white and half black. So we can all agree that Trayvon was old enough and mature enough to kill someone and be held responsible but not old enough and therefore responsible enough to have consentual sex. Obviously the decision to have sex is way more difficult and demanding of mature decision making skills then killing someone. We as a nation find the effects of bad sexual decisions to be far worse for a 17 year old than killing someone, or going to war. Kill someone and be treated as an adult, have sex and be treated as an incapable child.

I personaly feel that 17 year olds should be having sex with 18 year olds not killing other people in foriegn fields.

Commenting from experience, having a family member murdered is a hard thing to face, that is why they have support groups for family member's of murder victims. Did anyone watch the interview with Zimmerman's brother last night on Piers Morgan!!. His brother sure doesn't think it was an accident. He keeps saying "self defense" and "my brother killed him so he could live". Even when Piers gave him a chance to send any condolence's or apologize to the family of Trayvon Martin for his brother's actions he did not. He basically said that they are now even because Trayvon's mother got what she wanted, which was an arrest. That is some of the most selfish stuff I have seen. Apparently neither of you were Military or maybe you are too young to remember when you could enlist at 17. I was in Marine Corps boot camp 19 days after my 17th birthday and no I didn't lie, they knew my age. The only restrictions placed on me due to age were that I couldn't be in the Infantry or the MP's for those you had to be 18 or 19 respectively.

Perhaps before you call someone a liar you should know what you are talking about.

Under US law, no one under 18 years of age has either been conscripted into or allowed to volunteer for military service. If you enlisted 19 days after your 17th birthday (a big if, I've heard my share of foggy war stories), then you did so by lying about your age, or your recruiter lied about your age.

Did you hear of the son of a police lt in Sanford who sucker punched a homeless man, knocking him unconcious? His violent act was caught on video, but he was not arrested or charged. A certain Sgt over-ruled the officers who wanted to lock the kid up. After the video was played by a local tv station an arrest was made. In the Martin/Zimmerman case, a detective concluded that the shooting was an illegal killing, but he was over-ruled by superiors. It seems that Sanfod has a practice of dispensing justice based on who the possible offender is related to. It leaves people feeling that the system is corrupt. Oh, did I mention that the homeless guy is black and his assailant is white? It does not mean that any of this is racism, but it can look that way. Zimmerman would never have had to face justice if not for the unrelenting attention given this case. It simply didn't pass the smell test. Forget all the racial crap...

No flaming...but, 1) there are people in my neighborhood watch community all the time I don't recognize...people have guests, I don't personally know every one of scores of neighbors, people come and go, I don't automatically consider people suspicious because I don't know them and they are walking with their hood up when it's raining...so, yes I would would continue on my way unless I saw some criminal behavior in progress.

2) it wasn't late at night as you infer, it was between 7 and 8... the "up to no good" and " must be on drugs" portrayal comes directly out of Zimmerman's head per the 911 tapes and had little bearing on the reality. Even if Zimmerman was racially profiling he was definitely profiling based on some internal projecting.

There had been several break ins and burgarlies in this neighborhood in the past few months....None of us know exactly what caused Zimmerman to think that this person's actions precipitated a call to 911...obviously something didn't look right to him. We know from the 911 tape that it wasn't because he was black...because Zimmerman isn't even SURE the person is black and if you read my earlier post, there's a good possibility that Trayvon didn't even have his hoody up when Zimmerman called 911...so there had to be another reason for him to wonder about this person...Something that Trayvon was doing was triggering an uneasy feeling in Zimmerman's mind...

Yeah, I guess Treyvon walking back to his fathers home triggered something right? A young man w/skittles, juice, and cell phone.That triggered him being on the losing end of a fight and murdering a child! There was nothing that young man was doing but walking back home. There is no reason for that child to be dead, none!

Maybe, the police officer who wanted to press charges was really still pissed at Zimmerman for pushing the issue then and wanted to exact revenge. Of course, that is a completely unsubstantiated claim based on absolutely no facts, but that fits right along with 90% of what people are saying in this case so...

If you don't recognized what they did as nefarious motives then someone needs to lay off the payote. The confrontation was an error in judgment. The shooting, whether justified or not, was no accident.

That's the smartest statement yet on here. The only Testimony said he was attacked from behind, if this is proven by facts and evidence he had a right to think his life was in danger. A witness puts Trayvon on top of George striking him. It doesn't matter at that point how old he is to George. We weren't there, we'll have to see what the evidence proves. I would like to see and read testimony of the forensic labs and not base one iota on a news report, because I don't believe anyone of the talking heads that make their living by you tuning in to them, that includes Jackson, Al, Rush, Hannity whoever- show me the evidence!
