In convenience stores in the city where I live, they have signs on the doors, stating" No hoodies, no sunglasses, no bandanas allowed." This started 2 years ago. You know why? You are the one who does not know justice. Martin was innocent until proven guilty or was caught in the act. Bill of Rights states " Life , Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness..." Constitution states that he be given due procees and be free of illegal search etc. Zimmerman violated all of those.

- Zimmerman would have received an inept lawyer for people who have less financial resources.

- Zimmerman would have been told that his crime might be a Capital Offense.

- The GOP would have made George the poster child for why the U.S. needs to build more prisons.

I see we need to learn some new facts. Z was taken into custody on the night the incident happened. We all saw the video of him in handcuffs walking into the police department. You cant just arrest a person on the spot. You need to have enough evidence to arrest a person. With all the lawyers in this country the cops have to be more careful. They took him into custody and questioned him. This is the same thing they would have done with any person. Did he get released that night due to his race or his "connections", I don't know. I do know that people are released all the time and charges are filed at a later time. A person has the right to due process so they will always make sure they have all the evidence needed to convict a person before they start that clock.

That is a great point, if Zimmerman shoot Trayvon while Trayvon was on top of him, where is the blood obviously the blood would have leaked onto Zimmerman.

Zimmerman's shirt was not even out of place when he walked into that police station, he had no signs of anyone who looked like he had been in any kind of scuffle or fight.

Zimmerman won't be convicted for one simple reason - The evidence indicates that he's innocent.

jak - The law itself might be clear but the fact that it was self defense is not clear. Just because someone saw a few seconds of Martin on top of Zimmerman during a much longer incident and the fact that Zimmerman had injuries does not prove that Martin started the incident and that Zimmerman had the right to use the SYG statute. What that witness saw could have been Martin defending himself against an attack by Zimmerman. We do know that Zimmerman followed him, we do know that Zimmerman chased him. We don't know and there is evidence that can dispute his word that Zimmerman was on his way to his vehicle to meet the police. We do not know that Martin attacked Zimmerman. It seems pretty convenient for Zimmerman that out of that whole incident the only thing that anyone witnessed was Martin on top of Zimmerman. No one saw the attack and no one saw the shooting. Justice was not served by halting the investigation before all of the evidence was in. Since when is the word of the perpetrator, the word of a witness that only saw a miniscule portion of the incident and the fact that the perpetrator had injuries enough to cancel an investigation and let the perpetrator go? I am not saying that it wasn't self defense, I am just saying that it is not cut and dry that this even qualifies for the SYG statute.

Don't forget what could have happened on a rainy night if Zimmerman was running on wet grass and stopped suddenly when Trayvon approached him. Zimmerman's feet could have gone out from under him, and Zimmermn could have landed on his back and hit his head on the sidewalk. At that point Trayvon might have seen Zimmerman's gun, and Trayvon then realized he had to protect himself. First off, we do know that Martin attacked Zimmerman because an eyewitness told police he saw Martin punch George in the face, knock him to the ground, and slam George's head against the pavement.

Secondly, "stand your ground" isn't a license to beat someone up who asks you what you're doing in their neighborhood.

What's more, the police never gave Martin permission to pummell George with anything that was said over the phone.

I'm sick and tired of reading, and hearing that Martin was justified in beating George up, simply because George asked him what he was doing there.

I keep hearing, and reading that "if a black man shot and killed an unarmed white man, they'd arrest him and take him to jail right away".....uh, except when it happened in Phoenix on April 3rd of this year, the cops didn't arrest the black guy. He claimed self defense, and it looks like he's going to get away with it. All Daniel Adkins was doing was walking his dog at the time he was shot.

The tragic thing is that one young man is dead and two families have had their lives completely upended, and not in a good way. It is far worse for the Martin family because of the pointless loss of life, but it is no picnic for the Zimmerman family either.

The sad thing is that, judging from the comments here, no good will come of this. It's too bad. You'd like to think that where a young life was lost, something good might eventually come from it. 1. the bail was $150,000 , you only have to pay a bails bondsman 10% of the bail, that is where the $15,000 comes into play and he puts up the rest of the $150,000. If you fail to come to court than the $150,000 is kept by the court. The bails bonds man than comes and takes whatever property you used for collateral so he can sell it and get his money back. Or he tracks you down and takes you back to jail so he can get his money back.

If you go to court than the court gives the $150,000 back to the bailsbonds man and he keeps the $15,000 you put up and that is how the bails bondsman makes his money.

OJ was acquitted because the majority of residents and business owners in LA were fearful if OJ was found guilty there would have been a repeat of the 1992 riots, only on a grander scale. The DA should never have filed charges against OJ and in doing so set the county of LA up for failure at great financial and reputation expense. Marcia Clark, the lead prosecutor ended up being the financial winner in the end with a $4.2 million book deal.

I am not saying having lots of money doesn't change the line-up in the field because we all know it does and can make a difference. I'm just saying it wasn't a factor in OJ's case in LA.

Incorrect. The bond is set to assure the person charged will appear in front of the court for trial on the date and time set.

Depending on where you live the amount due from the accused can be either 10% or 15% of the bond amount. Cash and/or collateral can be used for the percentage due. The bondsman puts up the entire amount of the bond to the court.

If you fail to show up for court the bond is then considered vacated. The bondsman then keeps the percentage you paid in cash and/or collateral and files suit to collect the balance due on the vacated bond. This is how the bondsman makes his money.

The bondsman will then send a skip tracer or bounty hunter to find you. If the skip tracer or bounty hunter finds and arrests you then upon your return to law enforcement custody he gets a percentage of the bond for his services.

If you appear in front of the court for your trial at the scheduled time and date set and continue to appear until the end of your trial then when your trial is over, no matter the outcome the court returns the full amount of the bond to the bondsman and he in turn returns to you the percentage of the bond you paid in cash and/or collateral in full. The bondsman makes nothing off of this transaction.

Any rights which George assumed he had... were much less than the right of any citizent to travel, unmolested, ,on a public street or sidewalk.

The reason I know, we know Trayvon was not engaged in a criminal act is he was not charged with one nor has there been any suggestion that it was the case. The only thing found on his dead body were the items he purchased at the local "Quiwki-mart" and apparently the cell phone used to talk to his female acquaintancefrom the time he left his home until the time just before he was shot. The Sanford PD, kept the body and notification of next of kin sequestered in the PD, while doing a background check on Trayvon - hoping that the release of news of his death could be accompanied with sordid list of all the crimes they could find to justify his killing. There were none - this BS. about school infractions has nothing to do with street crimes, burglaries or any of the sorts of crimes which plagued the homes in that area - what ever the problems they were having ... Trayvon was not the one, he was not even in that area when they occurred. He was living in a different city at the time and had newly come to Sanford.

That much is confirmed by telephone records as well as "ear witness" collaboration. You are so quick to accusse everyone of jumping to conclusions in this headlong dash to find something, anything to justify why George was provoked into shooting Trayvon... yet, in all these fantastic scenarios you and others come up with, the simplest explanation is completely avoided or discounted.

Trayvon did not pull George out of the car and start assaulting him. He left the scene and continued walking away from George as soon as the rain relented. The fact that George followed him and was armed and Trayvon is dead, from a gun shot. Just how simple is that to come up with a reasonably believable sequence of events?

Is it possible that Trayvon committed suicide, is that what you asking us to believe? That is the only other scenario that could possibly explain the facts. Every rube Goldberg "solution" you come up with requires a total disregard of the time elapsed from first encounter to the shooting. The belies any time for any meaningful conversation which could establish a motive - other than George had a gun and was more than ready, willing and able to kill Trayvon. to prevent him from continuing his right to go to his home without interruption. There was no crime or hint of crime nor any witnesses to suggest one was being contemplated ... other than in the fevered dark places in the mind of George.

Chew on this. Even without stand your ground, Zimmerman, by all accounts and evidence so far (not the evidence and conjecture given by vine posters), was fighting for his life. He still has the right to defend himself if he believes his life was in danger. Ever hear of Bernie Getz? He was brought up on murder, assault and other charges but was only convicted illegal firearms possession. There wasn't even a stand your ground law in effect. All that stand your ground does is remove the responsibility of having to turn tail and run when confronted by aggression.

I have seen killers whose parents acted just like Trayvons, even after being shown they were guilty. It's one reason so many get in trouble, the parents think their kids can not be blamed for the bad things they have done, and blame society, or their race. It's part of the culture for these people.

i found a fla govt website which has a checklist to check your concealed permit eligibility. it doesn't track your official records, you enter stuff about your background--mental illness, criminal history, addiction questions. i also wondered how he could have a permit given the previous assault on PO charge and restraining order. Obviously, I had to guess at some answers (pretending I was george). looked like probably enough time had passed since the previous issues that he'd be able to get a permit, but also looked rather borderline. we don't know how long he'd had the permit.

Frankly, I can understand that. GZ killed her son. We don't know the circumstances. It may have been justifiable as self defense. It may not have been. But to her, Trayvon, her son, was killed by George Zimmerman. I would likely feel the same way if my son was killed, regardless of circumstances. I think the Martins' lawyer is very smart and they all know that Zimmerman is NOT going to be found guilty. The problem is that right now, Zimmerman is protected from a civil suit. He doesn't have to be found guilty in a criminal court to be found liable in a civil suit, he just has to go to trial.

It is VERY clear to most that THAT is all they want: to be able to go after him in a civil suit. They get their victory if this doesn't get thrown out before going to trial (honestly, it should have been already just based on the affidavit itself.)

I believe (my conjecture here) that this whole thing was set up that way in collusion with the Martins' attorney. I believe the state already knows that they will not win in criminal court (it really doesn't even sound like the prosecutors did ANY real investigation at all), and that they submitted a very flimsy affidavit without evidence to force a trial in order for Zimmerman to defend himself. I believe that they hedged that with a 2nd degree murder charge to try to get a plea deal (which would also open Zimmerman up to a civil suit.) It is my strong belief that the prosecution is FULLY aware of this and believes that this is their win-win, "everybody comes out happy" strategy to avert violent riots and get re-elections. Well, everybody, but Zimmerman, anyway.

It's sad that they are going to get away with it, too. And I mean because absolutely nothing is going to happen to them for doing this and nobody is even going to investigate that.

My kid would have first called 911 then if there were time would have called me, and I would have come to his defense.. Travon had a choice and the time to do the right thing.. A few things:

1) First all the mother said that all she wanted was an arrest. When she got that she said all she wanted was an apology. When she got her apology she didn't accept it. She also said she thought it was a misunderstanding and an accident. Once her team of legal advisors heard she said that they made her retract her statement. Fishy much??

Come on people, if you can't see this is all a big show played on race you are blind. Did Zimmerman shoot an unarmed teenager? Yes he did. Did he set out that night saying to himself, "I'm gonna go shoot me an unarmed teenager?" WE DON'T KNOW! That is what we have to prove and so far all the evidence points to no he didn't. 2) I'm sorry, a police dispatcher, who is NOT a police officer, telling me you dont need to follow someone I truly believe is a suspicious person in an area that has had a lot of break-ins means nothing. I have a right to protect my person and my things. I had a man STEAL my dog and then later try to say he found it and had it for 2 days (when I fed it that morning) show up on my door step at 9pm at night. I lived alone and called the police because he wouldn't bring my dog back until I gave him $20 to re-emburse him for the money he spent feeding my dog. The dispatcher told me it would be ok and that I didn't need a police officer present. Now tell me again what authority/power dispatcher's have? I called again and got one sent out.

3) There was no way to know how old Martin was by looking at him. All the pictures that have been released of him were when he was about 12 so don't let the media or Jessie or Al fool you. And if it had been me I would have also asked him what he was doing as a lot of break-ins had happened. If the person I was asking started to run I'd probably think that was suspicious as well. And if he attacked me and was bashing my head on the ground and I had a gun I might also pull that thing out. So far people these are the FACTS from EYE-WITNESSES!

And just a thought:

Is putting Zim's address on blast by a celebrity or having everyone call for Zim's death any less violent than what Zim did? Spike Lee did that with the INTENTION of someone going to that address and "dealing with it" That is premediatated right there. If someone were to have actually gone over to the address and killed the residents would there be an outcry for HIS death?

That depends on how Florida's law is written. Our law (Indiana) protects someone who defends him or herself from being placed in any kind of legal prosody (criminal or civil). If Florida's is similar, and I believe it is, then there will be a lot of whining when they try (unsuccessfully) to bring a civil suit against Zimmerman.

Phillykevin, I been in law enforcement for over 30 years. When I go to court I bring my notes and files so I can answer any question that the prosecution and defense throws at me. The cop on the stand did not bring anything with him to prove Trayvon was not the attacker, and signed an affidavit that was worded by someone else. The defense made the cop look like an incompetent fool. No cop with any experience would go to court unprepared.

In Florida they do interview people and they do try to establish the viability of the case when they are considering bond. In theory, a stronger case would give a descendent a greater desire to flee. The prosecutor and the investigator had nothing. They had no evidence to suggest that Zimmerman wasnt walking back to his car, they had nothing to suggest that he did not get his head bashed in, and the investigator sounded like a bumbling idiot on the stand. He had never even personally spoken to Zimmerman!

Jim called it, they made the arrest to satisfy those out for blood. There is no case here, and there never was. It will either be dismissed before going to trial, or Zimmerman will be found innocent. Either way, it is going to piss a lot of people off despite them crying that they only wanted justice. Justice will set Zimmerman free, whether they like it or not.

Wrong... He was finally arrested, because the cover-up wouldn't hold. Once the case was reviewed, there was no way it could be legally justified to not convene a real hearing.

The point is ... there should be one law for all, if not - then there is no law. Hunting down, provocking and killing someone for no other reason than "suspicion" in unjustifiable - even more heinous if the target is a school kid, killed in midst of common area, a playground with other children running and playing.

You are exactly right! The police did a thorough investigation, and recommended charges to the D.A.'s office.

But, the D.A. declined to pursue charges because an eyewitness said George was being beaten up and was only defending himself when he shot Martin.

The reason charges were filed against him, is because Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton stirred up the local black community into "tacitly" threatening violence in Sanford.

Isn't it nice to know we're living in a country where you can be arrested, NOT because the evidence is against you; but rather, because people went into the streets yelled and screamed loud enough to make it happen?

Did Sanford PD release those pictures of George's Head shots or were they provided by his defense team.

Maybe - in the interest of fairness. Sanford PD might release the morgue photos of Trayvon? A graphic display of his wounds might enable the public to his injuries too?

All this talk about realism seems to stop at showing "only" the injuries of George. Maybe a look at the hands of Trayvon, the gaping hole in his chest. A view of any bruises on his neck, face or any damages/stains/ GSR/ blood on his clothing?
