Subscribe to RSSA federal prosecutor says a man wanted on charges he stole more than $2 million from an armored car he was paid to guard in Pittsburgh, murdering his partner in the process, has been arrested in Florida.
U.S. Attorney David Hickton of Pittsburgh tells The Associated Press that 22-year-old Kenneth Konias Jr. has been arrested in Pompano Beach, Fla. on Tuesday morning.
KDKA-TV first reported Konias' arrest, saying he had been found at a crack house. Broward County, Fla. sheriff's officials say they could not immediately confirm the arrest.
Konias allegedly fatally shot fellow Garda Cash Logistics guard Michael Haines before fleeing with money from the truck they were guarding on Feb. 28 in Pittsburgh. Haines' body was in the back of the truck found idling under a Pittsburgh bridge in the Strip District.

As he fled the Pittsburgh area, Konias took the time to call his mother and stopped by his Dravosburg home, leaving behind a coat with what detectives said appeared to be blood splatter on the front, police said.
A manhunt is on Kenneth Konias Jr., 22, who Pittsburgh police say killed his partner and stole more than $2 million from an armored vehicle. WPXI-TV's Jodine Costanzo reports.
“This is a premeditated murder,” Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala said at the time, according to local NBC affiliate, WPXI. “Our belief is that he planned to rob the company, and if he had to kill the guard, then he planned to do that. He shot the guy from close range in the back of the head to accomplish the robbery. That’s pretty cold.”
According to WTAE.com, Konias' parents heard about his arrest early Tuesday. Attorney Charles LoPresti said they are relieved and anxious to see their son.
Konias now faces charges of homicide, robbery and theft. He is scheduled to appear in a Florida court later on Tuesday.

There is ALWAYS two parts to any community. The one that tourists see and the REAL one. If you do not want to be treated like a tourist you have to become part of the community-it will NOT adapt to you. Not much of a plan; you could make that same plan up yourself in....oh, about 3 seconds, if you were in the slow group during your formulative years. Otherwise, they'll plea-bargain this down to murder 2, he'll get 25 to life (Pittsburgh jail probably isn't a real garden spot, either), or they might use the Fed charges on him, in which case he goes to Colorado, most likely.

Murder 1 indicates premeditation, which would seem to apply in this case. However, I think the term you are looking for is captial murder, which can result in capital punishment.

Actually you are both right. Murder "1" is generally achieved via any one of a number of qualifiers such as premeditation, in the course of another felony such as robbery or kidnapping, or having multiple victims. Based on that, obviously this crime qualifies as murder 1. Since Pennsylvania is a death penalty state, this also qualifies as a "capital" crime.

I have read over 20 posts on this subject but yet no "thug" reference or "this is what they do" speech. Now y'all can hate me all day or feel like I'm bringing up racial overtones, but I'm just pointing out the truth. When this is a minority, it has over a 1000 posts in 30 minutes with 3/4 of them saying negative things about the person race, background, or even throwing Obama in there for sh#$s and giggles. I do understand what you are referring to, to a degree, because I myself have observed on countless occasions throughout my middle-aged years how criticism and scorn by populations of Caucasians in various forums has been minimized when directed to a fellow Caucasian, making the spotlight shine inherently on their group in a bad light.
And with this knowledge through my personal observations, if it had been me responding I would have just called Konias a thug outright, as it would have been appropriate. Thug applies to ALL PEOPLE who fit the definition, just as those who fit the descriptions of a drug addict, or of just flat-out evil, in my opinion. Aside from the "that's what they do" part that I would have elaborated on in reference to thugs in general, I would NOT have opened the floor on racial overtones, undertones or anything of the kind.
Never mind if someone else hasn't called a spade a spade. If you feel that's what he or she is, I believe the country you were born in gives you the luxury to COME OUT WITH IT like everybody else does. But you can send a very strong message that will READ at the same level of intensity of everyone else'. My example is to illustrate that in effective discussion, to a point it is what you say, but it's more of how you get what you want understood across to others.
