The lawyer for George Zimmerman, the Florida man charged in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, has launched an all-out social media blitz seeking to tell Zimmerman's side of the story, msnbc.com's Suzanne Choney reports.
The Mark O'Mara Law Group confirmed that the website at the heart of the effort, titled George Zimmerman Legal Case, is its production, NBC station WESH-TV of Orlando reported. There are also Twitter and Facebook accounts.
"We understand that it is unusual for a legal defense to maintain a social media presence on behalf of a defendant, but we also acknowledge that this is a very unusual case," O'Mara says on the website.
But Stephen A. Saltzburg, former chairman of the American Bar Association's criminal justice section, told msnbc.com that "generally speaking, lawyers are not supposed to be making public statements that could compromise a fair trial."

The world would be so much better off if ALL of the neighborhood watch volunteers were just beaten to death while they try to protect the neighborhoods we live in! That way no one would ever need to be pressured into prosecuting them by the Revs Al and Jesse! Just think of all the time it would free up so that they could fund raise for the NBPP!

You've got to be kidding. The Martins hired a known PR flack named Ryan Julison two days after the funeral. In the "media blitz" wars O'Mara is a latrine-cleaning private! Good thing he's a four-star general attorney. I just hope the case is over before November lest Farrakhan, Jackson, Sharpton et al decide to try to make a play. . ..

The Jury may actually care to hear his side of the story. Thank God you won't be on it since it appears you have already made your decision before the trial even starts.
Actually, Sandra Ford.... the police never told GZ not to follow Trayvon! What they told him was "we dont NEED you to do that (follow Trayvon.)" All these statements that GZ disobeyed the police are inaccurate! GZ did what he did without violating any police orders. What happened AFTER that is what is in question: Did Trayvon attack GZ or not? We need to hear ALL of the facts before the truth can be determined. And when you listen, check your emotions at the door... you need to have an open mind if you really want the truth!
Personally I'm rather skeptical that Trayvon was the aggressor in this situation. Granted, all of the evidence isn't out yet, but one of the details that bothers me is that if Trayvon was running away from Zimmerman as the 911 call suggests, then why would he circle back and attack him? Something isn't right when even his school teachers claim that he wasn't a bad kid...
Not to mention that the attempts by Zimmerman's defenders to portray Trayvon as some bloodthirsty thug are laughable at best. They point to his gold teeth and tattoos, and the empty baggie found in his backpack that allegedly contained weed, and they dissect his facebook and twitter pages and go "look! He likes weed and rap music! Surely he deserved death!" When in reality, most teens these days smoke pot and listen to rap and like to pretend they're Snoop Dog and Eminem. Hell, my high school was full of them, and most of them were white, middle-class suburban kids like myself!
Mr Bubb, I concur... there are a LOT of unanswered questions about this, and we need to have ALL the facts. One thing that bothered me was the position of Trayvon's body. Why would he be found face down if GZ shot him from underneath? Wouldn't he have rolled Trayvon off of him after the fatal shot was fired?

Looks to me that most people who've posted here have already tried and convicted Zimmerman. You should not reach to conclusions until all of the evidence has been submitted. I guess you thought O.J. was innocent too. What will you say if Zimmerman is acquitted as well? Another Rodney King riot?
Somehow I don't think that's going to happen.
Remember the Sean Bell shooting? People were expecting riots after the NYPD officers were acquitted, but none really came.

Pretty good, I love the part on the actual video where the guy that got his butt whooped his friends go through other peoples purses. You can hear the one with the camera tell her friends to see if there is anything good in there. America at its best!

What I find amazing is that so many people on media outlet's are blaming Angela Corey for the delay in giving O'Mara discovery, when in fact it was O'Mara himself who delayed the giving of discovery. O'Mara asked for the discovery to be sealed on April 12, 2012. Angela Cory simply agreed with his request. Now people are attacking Ms. Corey saying she is obstructing justice etc. The Orlando Sentinel says experts are looking for forensic evidence such as trajectory to show the distance between the two when Trayvon Martin was shot by Zimmerman. Analysis of a bloody gash on Zimmermans head. Autopsy on Trayvons body whether the teenager had any bruises on his hands consistent with beating someone. The Sentinel also wrote that the defense is in no hurry for this trial. The Sentinel wrote that today was the deadline for O'Mara to get discovery, but he wants a delay of several days or a couple of weeks so that news organizations and others do not get discovery. This means there will likely be another hearing at which media lawyers will request full disclosure. The Sentinel writes that O'Mara said that with the Internet gifts he now excepts to be paid. His bill is $400.00 per hour and he predicted this is a 1000 hour case. The Sentinel says he has already spent 130 hours on this case.
Rhama, this is consistent with all the other misleading and uninformed reporting that have been the stock in trade of the networks. Did you really expect them to take the time to do any honest research before they rush their soundbites to the air?
The defense is encouraging the delay to make certain that witnesses are protected. You know MSM would immediately have their 'experts' drill witnesses and the public would be presented with a slanted version of the facts.
Personally I think the delay in giving and receiving discovery is because O'Mara is buying time so his new web sight can have a chance to collect his fee. If the discovery comes in support of second degree murder, O'Mara will recommend Zimmerman to plea and the funds will end. Mark O'Mara is a savvy attorney, he said he has not seen discovery from the prosecution, seems he is doing this on purpose, because as soon as he does if discovery shows Zimmerman can be found guilty he is obligated to advise him to plea. I think this is why he asked for the discovery to be sealed on April 12, he knew the Media would challenge the sealing of discovery and this was his way to buy time. Remember when Corey gives her discovery Zimmerman will have to give his, this is how Florida law works. Some experts argue that the names and addresses can be blacken out on discovery as they were when the original people report was made public. We will see what happens.
I wish people would STFU until this trial happens!!! NO ONE has the evidence that either the prosecution nor the defense has. NO ONE knows EXACTLY what happened and who's at fault. ALL we know is it's a tragedy that SHOULD have been prevented. Past that, no one knows anything else....so all please STFU until this trial starts and THEN you can comment, all the way up until the VERDICT! Past thast, you all sound like a bunch of jabbering fools.
Got some portraying The kid as a thug that was LOOKING for trouble, others saying he was just a little innocent angel that was gunned down by a psychopath. BOTH sides got it alllll figured out already huh???

Davebny.... we talk and comment because we have inquiring minds and want to explore the ins and out of the case. It might surprise you, but public interest and comment in cases like this have a tendency to keep the media "honest" in their reports to the public. Believe it or not, the networks don't always report accurately!
Erin NJ and the other zealots, Tex is correct, there are numerous studies that show that pedophilia is rampant in the gay community. Many gays view the younger or child like partner as a badge of honor and envy. Remember the catholic priests scandal, 9 out of 10 of them were gay. The Catholic Church was a place of refuge for a lot of gay men back in the 20's,30's, forties, fifties and right up until the scandal hit. Someone had mentioned Oscar Wilde to make a point, Oscar Wilde was a known pedophile back in his day. You can read this in any book about him. The gay community also celebrated Harvey Milk as their hero, going so far as to advocate legislation in California for a day of recognition in his honor. The legislation passed and is now forcing public schools within the state to observe Harvey Milk day. Milk was also a known pedophile that preyed on young boys who were strung out on drugs or homeless in SF. Randy Shilts who was also gay wrote extensively about this in his book on Milk. The gay community also worshiped another known pedophile who advocated for man boy love. Harry Hay openly and publicly advocated for man boy love right up until his death. Hay once stated that parents should give their young boys to homosexual men, so they can make real men out of them. This should be truly revolting to everyone on this blog, but the homosexual community saw Hay as a hero and some even wrote upon his death that he spoke the truth. Many in that community embraced this belief in man boy love. Many gays took what Hay said to heart. The BSA has removed numerous scout leaders over the years for molesting young boys and for being predators amongst them. These men by their own admission were homosexuals and had lied about themselves to gain entry to the BSA. This is all fact and can easily be researched and verified. History is replete with these examples and keep in mind that NAMBLA still exists and they too are advocating for the BSA to change it's policies towards gays. There are gays who speak against this kind of behavior as all of us should to be sure, but they are outnumbered within their community.
