Some news stories should be left untold...I could've gone the rest of my life not knowing of such sick crimes...

I'm very curious as to what exactly killed the poor child. For all we know he found his baby dead, put it in the fridge to keep the body there (messed up I know but some people do very strange things when they are mourning or grieving), and lost it. A part of me truly hopes he didn't murder his child, there's already too much ugly going on in this world.

You don't know enough about the story to pass that kind of judgement. Like Lyrica said, he could have snapped after finding his baby dead. Or maybe he snapped before and killed the baby, but was not in his right mind. People rarely murder their children sanely.
It could even be a temporary lapse. He could come around in a few days and realize what he's done. Imagine how HE would feel.

Anyway, don't judge until you know the full story.

According to local news reports he did claim he killed his child. What a terrible sadness that children have to suffer at the hands of a parent.

whenever articles like this come out it makes it harder and harder to argue against forced sterilization. I don't agree with the idea, but just saying...

Why do you say he was stupid? Sick and disturbed, yes. But stupid? One doesn't need to be stupid to kill a child. And I think the child would be better off alive and living with someone who loves him and can care for him.

Still way too many questions unanswered which leads to way too many assumptions and pointless banter. The only relevant thing to comment on is hoping the baby didn't die horribly and that it is in a better place. Rest easy little one!

Blake, I think being stuffed into a refrigerator is a pretty horrible way to die. And if you clicked on the link in the article where the child's name is, you'd see what's relevant to comment on. Thanks for your assistance and all, but we really don't need you to tell us what's relevant and what isn't.

But normally, people call for help--911 or drive to a hospital--if their baby is sick, injured, or suddenly dies in its sleep (SIDS). It's not normal to have a baby die of natural causes and then put the baby in the fridge. I'd be hysterical if any of my babies died, especially if it was a sudden SIDS thing at home, but I'd call for an ambulance, not open the fridge. I might do crazy things after, but I'd seek medical help during. This is seriously not normal, not even grieving parent normal.

Yeah, I don't get the idiotic comments about the death of a baby that can't defend for themselves. This is just horrible. I wonder what will show up in the autopsy, that should give a clearer picture.

So, apparently, the father killed his son and possibly tried to kill himself. I can't imagine how the mother feels right now. This story is just horrible.

First, I'd like to say thank you for putting the cold hearted back into the reply, I was affriad my joke wasn't going over. I just have the opion that this story is really funny, and there is a lot of jokes that can be made about this situation. I'm sure the family is sad, but if they read this, they would be laughing too, unless they have no sense of humor. Chirs, you know, I used to assist with autopsies in a hospital and I worked in Respiratory Therapy and in the ER a lot. I saw a lot of suffering and death, and the one idea that you are missing here is that of respect. Yes, people make jokes in grisly situations to lighten the mood and help people cope so they can do their jobs to help people.

But not once did it cross my mind to make jokes about dead children, infants, or anyone else, for that matter. There are jokes that are funny, and then there are disgusting and demeaning, and definitely disrespectful comments that are immature, crude, and insensitive. Yours consistently belong in the latter group. Grow up and get a heart. If you can't think of anything helpful or reasonable to say then please try to remember that others might not want to hear those nasty comments and refrain from hurting people.

There are things to joke about and things you don't, those like you who cannot understand the difference are missing something in your head that keeps you from thinking right. True people die every day but that is still no reason to joke about the death of someone, that baby was loved by someone, we don't know the whole story as to where the mom was but that little babes is still to be considered a human being. Don't lower yourself by joking about the death of a child, instead try to put yourself in the shoes of the family who lost this little baby.

Never have I seen more deleted comments on a thread than I have on this one. And it appears to be the jokes that have vanished. A few of them remain, but they're replies to other posts. He never said he murdered his son, the child could have died due to accidental causes. He could have left him unattended and the baby choked on something. We have no idea how to take the term killed in his statement.

CdB - To me, the word kill means to cause someone's death. Sure, the story doesn't use the term murdered, but I think it's a good guess that the child didn't put himself in the refrigerator or cause his death. Perhaps the father killed him accidentally, but by reading the reading the rest of the story about him becoming suicidal and then becoming violent, I'm left thinking the father is somewhat disturbed and needs some psychiatric help. Maybe a lot of it.

I agree...there must be something in the water down in Texas and Florida, as so many hideous stories emerge weekly from those two states. :-p
