Lightning Medicine Cloud, a rare white buffalo born in 2011, and his mother were found dead at the Lakota Buffalo Ranch in Texas this week just weeks after the calf's father was fatally struck by lightning.
The rare animal, sacred to the Lakota Sioux, was about to celebrate its first birthday during a powwow on May 12.
NBC 5 has learned the calf was found mutilated and skinned on the ranch northeast of Dallas. The next day, the calf's mother was found dead as well.

Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks has opened a criminal investigation into the livestock deaths, although Meeks said they have not yet classified the crime. The Texas Rangers and other state agencies are assisting.
"I feel very confident we'll work together with a renewed vigilance to find whoever this is that perpetrated this heinous act," Judge John Horn said during a news conference at the ranch Friday.
Arby Little Soldier, the owner of the ranch, would not comment on the specifics of the white calf or his mother.

A rare white buffalo walks in a corral in Greenville, Texas, in June 2011. The calf and its mother were found dead this week.
"I will not say what has happened to this animal," he said. "I will not say what has happened to the mother. Ben, the dad that protected this calf was struck by lighting April 3 when we had the tornado when it hit Lancaster. Lightning ... struck Ben, and I seen him go down. My people, my brothers, my sisters are hurt by what has happened here on this ranch. You don't think things like this are going to happen to such a sacred animal, a sacred family."
Little Soldier said Lightning Medicine Cloud's legacy will carry on and that the powwow scheduled for May 11-12 will go on as planned -- only now, they will memorialize the rare animal as well.
"The powwow will continue on. I welcome you all to come grieve with us, mourn with us and celebrate with us," Little Soldier said. "Ecclesiastes said, 'There is a time for life and a time for death.' My little boy went on home. His mother went on home. His dad went on home. They're all together, and God bless them. This legend will go on forever."
Little Soldier said there is a reward of $5,000 leading to an arrest and capture of the person responsible for the deaths of Lighting Medicine Cloud and his mother.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Hunt County Sheriff's Department at 903-453-6800 and ask for either Sheriff Randy Meeks or Lt. Tommy Grandfield.

How sad. Why?
Greed or hate.
Maybe both.
Sad.
Somebody wanted a white hide for their man cave.
Accept my deepest sympathies.
dragonmaster - well then I hope his bloody man cave ends up to be a 10x10 cell.
But then he would still be costing society - sod it: hang him off the yard arm!
I bet there are a few old Texas "cattle rustling" laws, still on the books.
My guess, is some teenagers wanted to make a name for themselves. I dont think it would have been done for the money, since it will be easily identifiable.
The white man is a curse upon the world...
Where was Ted Nugent this past week?
Or, Sarah Palin
I'm not sad, I"m horrified. This is religious desecration. This was part of their faith and history. This is like someone painting swastika's on a synagogue. This was most likely a hate crime, hence taking the skin.
OK, I'm not a tree hugger nor do I ascribe to the "all indians were peaceful non violent nature lovers" therory. I love to hunt and fish. But that was wrong. Who ever is found to have done should not only be charged for the poaching, but charged with a hate crime. This animal was held sacred to a people. No different then if they destroyed the cross outside my church, or burned the temple mount! As for all the political cheap shots here. We need to worry less about what we think we know and worry more about facts!
It does seem that most of the usual posters here, of varying political persuasions, all condemn this act. A small sign of hope anyway.
From a post further down in the thread... may explain one possible motive.
This hunting of the White Buffalo is in Texas. If anyone is interested the website and a video of the Buffalo can be found here.
$13500 to Kill Sacred White Buffalo in Texas—Can This Be True ...
indiancountrytodaymedianetwork.com/.../13500-to-kill-sacred-white...
Mar 5, 2012 – A hunting lodge in Texas charges $13500 for the experience of hunting and killing a white buffalo, perhaps the most sacred animal in the world ... Texas Hunt Lodge allows the opportunity to hunt and harvest the Authentic and Rare White Buffalo.
Dick Cheney was standing next to it and accidentally shot it?
Funny fuzzy.
As a Native American this infuriates me. If these people are caught (and I hope they are) cut off their hands!
Stonedog and dragonmaster nailed it: ignorant, greedy and hateful stupid guy wanted to brag and display the bloody little white skin to his equally ignorant, greedy and hateful stupid buddies. These dicks likely had a bet going which of them would kill it first. Some humans spend their time proving over and over which is the most venal, useless species on the planet.
A little extreme, schoolyard. I'll settle for jail time and a lawsuit that will seize the lion's share of the perpetrator's assets. If this was part of some canned hunt, watching their business go under as the result of this little stunt would be appropriate.
It never ceases to amaze me, the hateful, horrendous acts that some people are willing to commit against animals and other people. Sickening, I could throw up; I'm sure I would have had I seen their mutilated bodies for myself.
Only the SCUM of the earth would do such a thing! The disrespect is horrendous.
This is so very, very sad.
To appreciate what this means to the people, you must understand the White Buffalo Calf Woman. She took the form of a white buffalo calf. So killing the calf and his mother is like killing the prophet herself. There are spiritual reverberations to the whole story as well. It's good to understand that the Native People still live here in their homeland, still carry sacred and ancient ways. Civilization has not proven it's way to be better in overall impact. Though the Native ways are often mischaracterized as backward, they are actually sustainable. Just because you can make a wheel, doesn't mean you want a car...We owe these people honor and respect. We actually owe them much more by treaty. Treaties that were meant when struck, but set aside when convenient. Shame on us!
In America, no race or culture that has suffered more loss and been more negatively impacted than the American Indian. Yet to this day, you never hear of Indians crying like babies, asking for their government handouts or whine about their losses. They endure and survive; unlike the American Blacks who rape, riot and rob, and then cry about having suffered at the hands of White America, who purchased them from the Pirates, who in turn purchased them from the warring tribes of their own black countrymen.
Put that in your piece pipe and smoke it Obama.
I agree in some part with you Duphas, in that Natives are long-suffering and continue to be denigrated unconstitutionally patiently. I take issue with your over the top and offensive way of saying it. But Obama has nothing to do with the disregard of the Native People. And part of the reason you never hear the Native People protest is because they are handled through the Department of the Interior, and their voices are quashed.....There are huge protests right now in South Dakota over a hog farm and the pipeline. There is a whole movement to honor the treaties and to save the sacred sites. I guess you never been to the rez nor studied the 70's much.
I suppose not a lot in the way of intelligent commentary can be expected of someone who thinks there is such a thing as a "piece pipe." Stick your head back in the sand (or wherever it's stuck), ostrich.
That's amazing. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
They need to find this person or persons and put them in jail for a very long time, Poaching, tresspassing, destruction of private property, and i am sure they can find a few other charges for them. I think 20 years would be about right for this. This was not hunting or trying to feed a family by taking wild game.
They need to be turned over to the tribe for punishment. This is totally disgusting. What is now the US was THEIR country first!!! Even if people of this country can't show respect and tolerance for races other than white, gays, etc. they should at LEAST be able to show some to the TRUE 'forefathers' of this land! What is wrong with this country?? It's hate. It's passed on from parent to child. This country is now so full of hate... it has got to stop.
This should be prosecuted as a hate crime.
The perpratatrors should be sent to Gitmo.
Wasn't there a movie with a white buffalo with Charles Bronson? Possibly named White Buffalo?
Yes, The White Buffalo from 1977.
Jag....
You are wrong. Actually the white Europeans were here first. True !!
Kennewick man/ Florida bog mummies/ flints discovered in the Virginias/ fossils of white Europeans in the midwest....all proof that the whiteman was here first.
That does not change the fact of what a rotten act that was done.
The Lakotas are a northern tribe(N. Dak.), part of the Souix Nation. Not sure what the connection with Tx. is.
I hope they catch dirty S.O.B.s

What I find incredible about this story is that his father Ben was protecting him - this generally doesn't happen in the animal kingdom - young males are often viewed as competition
Ironically - Jane Goodhall was on Jon Stuart's show a week or so ago and recounted how a male gorilla adopted a young male whose mother was killed by a leopard - that also doesn't happen in the animal kingdom of gorillas
What is going on? - animals as far as I'm concerned are more attuned to nature and how the scheme of things should be viewed - food for thought
And as far as these low-lives - They will be caught - why because they have to show off their trophy and god help them when the Sioux finds them it will not be pretty
It seems to me that, in this case, this is something that a white male would do, disrespect another's religious beliefs, traditions, and property; though, whites do not have sole ownership of these character flaws. From the above comments I say, yes, my knee-jerk reaction was also that a white male(s) conducted these atrocious acts but we should, all, hold our judgements until the investigations are concluded and, hopefully, the perpetrators are apprehended. Once found guilty, nothing short of skinning them, in turn, would satisfy me.
On another issue raised by a commenter. It may be true that the "Indians" were in the "US" before the white man but, I believe that science has proven that American Indians did not originate in the Americas; they immigrated across the ice-covered Bearing Strait and explored lands to the south. They formed tribes and warred against one another over land and, thus, did nothing better or worse than the white man did when he arrived centuries later. The Indians and the white man warred against one another and the white man, with superior technology and numbers, defeated the Indians. Indian tribes have no greater claim to land in any of the Americas than those who arrived, in this new land, after their forefathers.
I haven't much of a life left but I hope that, before I die, I witness the end of killing animals for their skins, ivory, ridiculous magical potions made from body parts, and all of the other unnecessary excuses for these heinous acts.
"We were here first!"
"They did it to me first!"
"Everyone else is doing it!"
Get these all-time classic schoolyard excuses and more, while supplies last!
Actually, none of these things support the "whiteman first" theory. For example, Kennewick is now considered to be related to Asia. In fact, the best evidence seems to point in that direction. It really seems only logical.
However, the DNA record only records living lineages.
This is also not accurate. Early people lived a lifestyle that stressed and exploited the land far less.
James (#2.9),
To me, it was clear that my comment concerned the fighting and claiming of land. You have slipped a red herring into your rebuttal.
Again I say, the white man came to this new land and fought to claim it. Their actions were no different than the red man's wars against one another for lands, rights to hunting areas, and, perhaps even, bragging rights. The red man murdered one another, took hostages, made slaves out of captives, and made wives of captured women. In that regard, whites did nothing better nor worse than what the red man had already done.
The view that the red man was so much more noble than another race is a fantasy; they were as human as any other race. North, Central and South America were huge areas which provided immense "wealth" for any human society to exploit; the red man was too few in number to make a dramatic dent in their exploitation of the lands they inhabited/conquered. However, you might wish to look a little closer into the cause of the demise of the American mastodon and consider that the Indian tribes frequently moved from one area to another for greater hunting grounds. Why? Could it be because they had depleted the animal population around their camps? I think, if you're honest, you will admit that they ravaged their living areas and were forced to move in, in search of more game.
One can only wonder what the effect the red man would have had, had he reached greater numbers and progressed in new discoveries and industries. Had time allowed him, he, too, may have stressed his environment similar, if not exactly, as the white man has done.
To @2.10
3rd paragraph, last sentence: "... to move on, in search of ..." vice "... to move in, in search of ..."
I agree! It doesn't matter what color your skin is, what god you claim to follow (or not), we are all humans. We humans are capable of amazining wonderful things or the most vile acts imaginable. So sad that this happened, it is the reality of this hard world. Will this act propel even one human to behave better?
Clearly Athensdog knows the propaganda. Cite your sources, Dude. Oh, all Europeans.....surprise! Grow up. Ask the Native People. Contrary to the teachings you ingested, they are still here......
I'm afraid you are the one using herring and rebuttals.
You're arguing a point I never made, which I find interesting. Why do you feel the need to make sure everyone knows that the American Indian isn't more 'noble.' When was that ever at issue?
I simply wrote that your statement was not accurate. It wasn't. Ironic that you mention population--that was one of the things that the American Indian did better that I left out. And you mention migration. I have to laugh. You are making my point. It is fine to deplete resources when you move on and allow them to recover. Every other species on the planet migrates in pursuit of resources.
Only since European dominance do people live in the desert and cry about the lack of water, stealing it from miles away.
For thousands of years the American Indian lived in balance with the ecosystem of the Americas. With the arrival of the Spanish, French, and English, things began to go downhill rapidly. Animals began to die off. The climate began to change. We are now to the point where entire lakes, rivers, and even mountain tops have disappeared.
I don't know about nobility, but it is absolutely a certainty that the American Indian culture was better for the planet, and therefore better for all people as a whole. We talk of freedom in this country, but if you can't plant a garden without testing the soil, and you can't hunt without a permit, how free are we?
Whoever did this is a disgusting puke.
A truly pathetic excuse for a human being did this. I hope they nail them to the wall.
I hope they nail his hide to the wall - they can burn the rest of him.
Only a $5000 reward? Really? I would think that more could be added to that reward for this crime. Come on...
How much can they afford to offer...? I mean, this isn't a corporation or a billionaire.
Perhaps Ted Turner will ante up
And I would think no reward is needed. I can remember when a neighbor had a problem the first consideration was how can I make this right. Now it is how can I turn a profit out of my neighbor's tragedy? No I would not take a dime if I could turn in the rotten scum that carried out this desecration. As for punishment I hope no one takes an example from a certain religious organization and merely relocates the evil ones involved. Yeah I know shouldn't have added this but I just had to.
two month ago they exposed a canned hunting operation that was shooting White Bison, (and advertising them as sacred!!)
such a fundamental lack of respect.
This is horrible! What is going that so many people have turned so vicious!? This makes no sense at all. I am so sick of abusers of any kind, hurting and killing kids, older people, wives, pets, other animals and who knows what else these freaking abusers do!? Makes me so angry! There has to be a law that makes them just stop!
There is a law, but it doesn't seem to make them just stop.
The laws don't make it stop, so people end up bringing guns to schools and workplaces....
Yes, and we have the NRA representatives, and their rightwing political puppets actively lobbying Congress to rule on the right to "bear arms" in bars, schools, politicial events, etc. etc. Very sad how the uber-paranoid and psychotic gained such powerful allies in the government.
Laws don't make people not commit crime, it's the fear of capture.
JK, you need to stop listening to the propaganda. Some of you folks are really making yourselves sound silly. I can guarantee that if you are the victim of a home invasion or a car jacking at gun point, it won't be by an NRA member. Chances are they will be an Obama supporter, though.
The NRA advocates safe, responsible, legal ownership and use of firearms. Any NRA member I know, would be angry and disturbed by this. probably more so than the average person.
If I were law enforcement there, I would probably come up with the names of the people responsible, quietly pass the names along to the tribe and let them take care of business. This crime may be taken care of with no one ever knowing and that's OK with me.
JK,
isn't it odd that Republicans want us to carry guns everywhere EXCEPT at their convention, where any kind of gun will be forbidden? It's like the voter ID laws they want fo force on us, but yet, don't require anything liek that for their caucus or primary voting!!!
North GA Individual I was waiting for someone to mention what you brought up. I found that so disingenuous of the party of the NRA and although I despise the current Governor of Florida whom I see as a self centered crook of the highest type, I completely agree with his decision to not allow the cowardice asked for by the City of Tampa. If you want the right to carry in my home and in my business you must also allow people to carry in your city and your convention hall. Yes I am a Florida resident, however I am not a resident of Tampa. Yes I carry, no I do not support the NRA although as a teen I was a member. I find the hypocrisy of Tampa officials incredible.
So Alex, do you think more laws will make people stop owning guns?
You are right, laws don't make people lawful.
Didn't I read the other day that people with the proper credentials could carry at the convention?
"JK, you need to stop listening to the propaganda. Some of you folks are really making yourselves sound silly. I can guarantee that if you are the victim of a home invasion or a car jacking at gun point, it won't be by an NRA member. Chances are they will be an Obama supporter, though..."
So after admonishing someone not to make a generalization that makes them look silly, you go on to make a generalization that makes you look silly. Good work.
What a pathetic excuse for a human being that would do such a despicable thing to a helpless animal. Animals are higher life forms than the human that did this.
So sad. Someone had something against the ranch, and the people, or else they would not have done this. I hope they find out whoever it was, and lock them up.
It has a lot more to do with the monetary value of the white buffalo hide. However, they'll have a tough time finding a buyer any time soon. When they do I hope the buyer gets caught and convicted as well. The buffalo population of the US was once almost completely wiped out for different reason by white man and they didn't use any of the buffalo for good purposes. At least the Indians valued the buffalos' life and used just about every bit of it for survival. If it was an Indian that did this they'll be more in fear of retribution from the tribe than law enforcement. Whoever did do this deserves a very harsh punishment!!
What a waste of sacred life. I'm sorry for your loss, and for the disrespect your tribe has experienced.
May you be blessed 10 X over with abundance from the buffalo.
Well said, Bunny3399.
I very much agree. My sincere condolences to the rancher, and to the Lakotah people who have suffered such an act of disrespect and hate. My heart is heavy knowing of this travesty; I doubt that White Buffalo Calf Woman would wish hate upon hate, but I also hope the person or persons who are responsible meet their consequences swiftly and surely--I pray for that...
Hope the republicans have nothing to do with this....
They will try to pin it on Black Panthers & Obama,,, it was a white buffalo
Jim-372206— And you are an ignorant racist puck!
Why is it that some idiot has to make every article they read about race and politics?? Childish!!
You left out "religion"
The "Big Three" (race, religion, and politics) are pushed so heavily by the right as reasons to dispise, mistrust, and eliminate.
For example, the white buffalo was kill by someone who:
a. Hates the Native American "race"
b. Thinks that Native Americans are "non-Christian heathens"
c. View Native Americans as "welfare-sucking liberal peaceniks"
It's not "idiotic or childish" to view this act of cruelty as a byproduct of our society's consumption of propaganda rhetoric fomented by political discord. Sorry, but it is what it is.
An Untitled James Bond Film, starring Sean Conerey.
Act II, Scene 2
[Setting: Tropical foliage on hill above the Bay of Guanabara with Governor’s Island in the distant background. The camera pans left and we see Bond in black tie and tuxedo, having just left the Casino. He is aiming his Walther at your chest.]
You: “James?”
Bond: “Never say @!$%# again, you petty bickering racist!”
You: . . . ?
{As yet unfinished}
I am in shock....I literally could not breathe when I read this horrifying article. I have followed Lightening Medicine Cloud since the very day of his birth and I am just stunned. Who could do this? Who could not regard him in a special light? What is wrong with this society????
I pray for peace for the family who nurtured Lightening Medicine Cloud, I pray for his mother and for his father, and I say here that he was sacred. Whoever did this destroyed a gift from the heavens and he/they will suffer for what they did in the correct time.
Bunny3399, thank you for understanding. Thank you to everyone for your understanding. I am just sick to my stomach.
So sorry for your loss. May the SOB that did this got to hell
The loss while it is directly on The Lakota people we all have lost. This concept is a hard one for so many to grasp these days of lies being accepted not as truth but as part of the nature of things. Nature does not belong to only Native Americans, it should be at the very least respected by all of us or it will turn on us. Kharma is not manufactured by one race.
Adela - he was certainly sacred, wakan tanka.
This is an outrage.
Catch them & turn them over to the tribe!
I agree! And when theay are caught, I hope they scalp them, castrate them and then throw them into a stampeding herd of buffalo. As barbaric as that may seem, whoever killed the white buffalo did much worse!!!!
Perhaps when the people are caught we skin them.
Agreed - but can we use the skins for something useful..... perhaps lampshades? It would probably be the only light to come out of this situation.
This is just so sad !! Who could be so STUPID and HORRIBLE !!I really hope justice will be served.
This is Bad really Bad !!
The skinned killers and their hides may be useful for different purposes depending on color. Wallets, purses, sandals, shoes even water bags............eeeewww!
Tad: it would be too respectful to make use of the killers' worthless bodies.
Do you suppose they would give the $5,000 reward for the culprit's skin?
What a shame and a crime that anyone would harm these animals.
But the real tragedy is that the Lakota Sioux choose to engage in such irrational thinking as to deify this "sacred white buffalo".
Would someone please explain to me:
1) why this animal is considered "sacred", and
2) what it means for an animal to be "sacred".
I am honestly curious.
So you are saying you don't understand the importance of buffalo in the Lakota culture, or basically anything about the Lakota culture. But you can call them "irrational" and their beliefs a "tragedy".
Clearly from your ignorant and bigoted statement you're not looking for an explanation, you're mind is already made up!. You're looking for a fight. Step away from the computer, and do your own research if your so curious. Maybe even go spend some time with a Native!
Why do Catholics believe that unleavened bread and red wine are the body and blood of Christ? Why do Hindus believe cattle are sacred? Your faith is another's fantasy.
Seriously? You think "the real tragedy is that the Lakota Sioux choose to engage in such irrational thinking as to deify this "sacred white buffalo"? I would strongly suggest that you do a little research on the Lakota Sioux and find the answer to your question. Want to hear something you will REALLY think is a tragedy? I have a cat. She showed up one morning in our yard, screeching her little head off. How she got here or where she came from, who knows but she most likely came from what would have been a pretty long distance for such a tiny baby. She fit in the palm of my hand and my hands are very small. I didn't want a cat or any other pet, for that matter. I emailed my sis, who was a great animal lover, worked for her state Humane Society and had several cats and dogs of her own and I asked her, "Why me?". She simply answered, "Because God though you needed a kitty". I now know that she was absolutely right. This little girl has become much more to our family than "just a cat". Would take much too long to explain that remark but, believe me, it's true and it has nothing to do with her being "cute and cuddly". I'll just say that we've gone through some very rough patches and she has been the sane one and has helped out in situations you wouldn't think a cat could even begin to understand. We adore her, we idolize her and we deify her. Try looking up the meanings of the word "deify", it doesn't pertain only to God.
BMette: I assume that you have a computer? >>>>> Try Google.com
It makes more sense to worship a being you can see and touch rather than some man in sandals in the sky. They aren't the crazy ones.
How many people have died in the name of religon? How many people died at the hands of the Lakotas in the name of religion? thx
Bmette-your questions answered yet?? I think the above repliers gave you food for thought and if you still don't get it go researech it and learn something new.
Irrational is believing in a man in the sky. How tragic!
BMette: While a legitimate conversation may be had as to why any supernatural claim should be believed, perhaps this particular article is not the best place to have it, much in the same way that it would not be appropriate if the story was about a synagogue being spray painted with swastikas. Whether one subscribes to the Lakota's beliefs is secondary in this case to the crime involved.
so often when an atrocity occurs we read posters calling the offender an animal. in animal vernacular maybe the biggest insult would be to refer to another animal as a human. evil is found in one species----man. no animal behaves as despicably as man!
I find it tragically humorous that BMette does not understand so she or he attempts to negate the beliefs of an entire people. BMette I will in the near future attempt to honestly answer your question if you answer one of mine first. Show me in your beliefs where it is written that someone else's beliefs are not to be tolerated. DO this in specifics please not your gut or your thoughts and I shall respond in kind. Oh and why did Jesus ride on a white ass on the firstPalm Sunday? Why white? Why an ass?
BMette - the white buffalo calf is to the Lakota as Jesus is to Christians.
And to be bluntly honest, I give more credence to the white buffalo calf than to any other religion on the planet.
If you are genuinely curious, Google Lakota culture. Learn of how White Buffalo Calf Woman brought the religion of the pipe to the Lakotah. If you're just being stupid, do it at your own expense...
You can chose to believe or not believe in whatever you like no matter if somebody else finds it irrational, unworthy of deifying etc.. Who is anybody to tell another person their spiritual beliefs are wrong?? What is the problem if one believes in a higher power or being?? IF it helps those of us who believe to get thru the day why should anybody else care? I don't understand people who believe in nothing at all, but your free to think that way!!
Whenever I see stories like this, I become angry and then sad. The real solution lies in taking a hard look at the 21st century American man's (or woman's) own heart, and choosing compassion and dare I say love over economic gain and cruelty to animals.
Many people might view this as a specious or off-the-wall argument in favor of protecting animals like that buffalo and their habitats, but I'll go ahead and make it: Suppose SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) actually found aliens, and we accommodated the aliens to our planet, and showed them around. First, we showed them the zoo, then we took them on a hunting trip, and at last we showed them where our food comes from in agribusiness factory farms. Inevitably the aliens would wonder, "What account can these humans give for their stewardship of the planet Earth?" and "Why are they so interested in extraterrestrial intelligence if they don't seem to care about terrestrial intelligence?" That white buffalo, whatever it's rarity, was also an intelligent being with the fundamental moral sameness of consciousness and awareness, sentience and emotions. This is the 800 pound gorilla in this room: Why do we scoff surprised at human beings treated poorly, when we have not learned kindness to the other species who share this planet with us? Animals aren't brainless automota. We see it in our pets. They have feelings.
Very well put! Thanks for being a voice for all the animals!
Eric, these are my sentiments, exactly! Thank you for putting so eloquently what I have been trying to say for some years, now.
eric fisher stone---would that the world believed as you do. i share your beliefs. just keep spreading your message-----plant lots of seeds -some of them will grow.
Disgusting, sickening. The same thing should happen to the person(s) whom committed this cruel and vial act.
Some old fashioned tribal justice is in order here methinks arrrgh
Sorry bout the arrrgh thing, I'm watching "Treasure Island" on the Sci-Fi channel
How absolutely disgusting! The person who did this is, by far, more of an animal that those he slaughtered. Anyone who has ever gotten the opportunity and really taken the time to get to know an animal, no matter what that animal is, realizes that they have many more human emotions and characteristics than one would first think. The "human" who did this certainly doesn't deserve to be around other humans. Hope they are found and locked up for a very long time. iaoM (#6) mentioned the canned hunts. IMO anyone who owns such an operation and anyone who goes there to hunt also needs to be locked away from the rest of society! There is absolutely no reason for it other than the thrill of the kill and how can any decent person brag about that kill if the animal was basically defenseless? Makes no sense whatsoever.
If I were investigating this, my first suspects would be the operators of the canned hunts for white buffalo that were "exposed" either by the tribe or the owners. This smells of some kind of retaliatory action. I believe that the animals that did this will be found and punished. My sympathies to the owners and to the tribe for their loss.
It looks like the white buffalo package information cached in your news article has been removed from the hunt site (or at least I couldn't find it). I'm not making any accusations but, at least to me, it looks like they removed it when interest in their site began to grow in the wake of this story. Either they just don't want the publicity, or they may have actually had something to do with this killing. I hope it's something the police are following up on anyway.
Clearly, the low life(s) who did this are mindless nincompoops who are among the lowest in our society. The LIKE to kill and maim, and they really have no conscience and couldn't care less about much of anything except their own pleasure and greed. Such a shame. If they find the morons who did this, I say we do the same thing to them that they did to the bison. Make an example of them. They are not worth keeping around for they offer nothing of merit to society. They are a blight on society and should be done away with as quickly as possible.
No, they will get a big trial, years and years of appeals and then let go with no additional punishment.
I hope they catch the person and skin them alive. People who do crap like this don't deserve to be treated well.
It is much harder to skin a human than an animal such as a buffalo. It is more like skinning a pig; difficult but still doable. It'd be much easier to scrape the skin off of a human. Either way I think it would be a just punishment.
Utterly Pointless; I'm gutted...
I hope whoever did this is struck down by lightning.
