Police have arrested the wife and mother of Adam Mayes, the man suspected of killing a Tennessee woman and her oldest daughter and kidnapping the woman's two youngest daughters, authorities said Tuesday.
NBC station WMC-TV in Memphis reported that Adam Mayes' wife, Teresa Mayes, is charged with four counts of aggravated kidnapping and his mother, Mary Francis Mayes, is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping. They were arraigned Tuesday morning, WMC reported.

In a police affidavit, Teresa Mayes admits that she was involved in taking the Bain family from Hardeman County by driving them to Union County, Miss., WMC said.
The affidavit also said that Mary Francis Mayes knew about the crimes.
Teresa Mayes' bond is set at $500,000; Mary Mayes, $300,000, WMC reported.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation referred to Teresa Mayes as Adam Mayes' ex-wife.
Teresa Mayes' sister, Bobbi Booth, earlier told WMC that Adam Mayes and his wife lived with his parents in Alpine, Miss. Booth said her sister told her she knew about the killings, but Booth thought Teresa Mayes may have been too scared to call the police.
The bodies of Jo Ann Bain and 14-year-old Adrienne Bain were found behind a house in northern Mississippi late last week.
The FBI said it believed the other daughters — 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah — were still with Mayes.
Word of the arrest came as the search for Mayes, 35, continued.
On April 27, Jo Ann Bain and her three daughters disappeared. Their car was found in a field not far from their Whiteville home. Her husband, Gary, reported them missing.

This story is missing so much information. It offers far more questions than answers.

R-Sticker the crime these people committed is horrific!!! They should be held accountable in a court of law through a trial of their peers to decide fi they are guilty. IF they are found guilty then they will be punished as the court sees fit. As for the fact that you say "ALL SOUTHENERS ARE INBRED." I beg to differ. I was born and raised in the South. Tennesse to be exact. I have a Masters in Education and have taught for over 20 years in the public school system. Not a single student I have incountered in twenty years of teaching is an inbred.
I read so much truth in your post yet I am struggling to get passed the fact that you are educated, teach children (for over 20 years) but that screen name tells me you prefer a certain stereo type. It has me curious. I am not trying to be rude, and I apologize if it sounded offensive.

FIND THOSE BABIES!!! This story is terribly upsetting. I have daughters and I am VERY careful who I bring around them. My heart breaks for this family. It is difficult to trust anyone these days! Moms, pay close attention to anyone who comes around your home and choose wisely who you become accquainted with. I have no doubt this mother thought Mayes was "safe," and she has paid the ultimate price for the mistake. Race holds ZERO place in this story and most comments on here show glaring ignorance at it's finest. People are the same color inside so who cares where this messed up family is from or what color they are????? I understand more and more each day why I love animals more than humans. I have a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Reading. Iin all of my years of teaching I have never ever come across an inbred. Don't assume ALL people from the south are inbreds.
Why do all of these killers look like genetic throwbacks? They are perfect examples of why birth control and abortions should be easy to get. Some folks should not have children and spare society alot of pain and misery.

OK MSNBC here you go again with headlines that don't depict the truth. No where in this article did it say anything about them being charged with the slaying. They were charged with kidnapping. I wish just once they could tell the whole story without going for the drama.
I'm sorry for the family and what they are going thru. I do hope the media will leave this family in peace. Chase the story, not the drama.

Amateur detective here. I'm asking myself why this lunatic's wife and mother would involve themself in this insanity. I am also asking myself why the psychopath killed only the mother and eldest daughter. I can only come to one conclusion. Either he is or thinks he is the biological father of the two youngest girls. I know that crazy people have no reason for their twisted behavior at times but it's difficult to get your mother and wife to go along with the insanity if there isn't some reason why they would. This family was moving across the country which may have been more than Mayes could take...being separated from his daughters. Seems like the only logical answer.

They say that torture does not work but and while this guy may not change from being tortured I think his eventual death would take care of that. The world gets sicker every day.
