Police have arrested the wife and mother of Adam Mayes, the man suspected of killing a Tennessee woman and her oldest daughter and kidnapping the woman's two youngest daughters, authorities said Tuesday.
NBC station WMC-TV in Memphis reported that Adam Mayes' wife, Teresa Mayes, is charged with four counts of aggravated kidnapping and his mother, Mary Francis Mayes, is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping. They were arraigned Tuesday morning, WMC reported.

In a police affidavit, Teresa Mayes admits that she was involved in taking the Bain family from Hardeman County by driving them to Union County, Miss., WMC said.
The affidavit also said that Mary Francis Mayes knew about the crimes.
Teresa Mayes' bond is set at $500,000; Mary Mayes, $300,000, WMC reported.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation referred to Teresa Mayes as Adam Mayes' ex-wife.
Teresa Mayes' sister, Bobbi Booth, earlier told WMC that Adam Mayes and his wife lived with his parents in Alpine, Miss. Booth said her sister told her she knew about the killings, but Booth thought Teresa Mayes may have been too scared to call the police.
The bodies of Jo Ann Bain and 14-year-old Adrienne Bain were found behind a house in northern Mississippi late last week.
The FBI said it believed the other daughters — 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah — were still with Mayes.
Word of the arrest came as the search for Mayes, 35, continued.
On April 27, Jo Ann Bain and her three daughters disappeared. Their car was found in a field not far from their Whiteville home. Her husband, Gary, reported them missing.

Where in the article does it say that the mother and wife helped him? At this point, are they saying he is still a suspect? Scattered reporting. Does it say he actually did it or is the "new" news saying that the conspiracy was between mother and wife?
wasnt husband/father of victims sleeping in same place as his wife? How was everyone removed from house without waking husband? was he drugged? Part of it? This reporting has got most of you all fired up and throwing around statements that are almost as bad as the article itself.
I am all for justice but I won't make assumptions like so many do until I have some better facts.

There's something to be said for keeping it all in the family. Sounds like they're all a bunch of rejects. Maybe we should get a message out to the kidnapper that if he doesn't bring the two girls back NOW, his arrested family members will undergo excruciating pain and torture.

Mayes has a web site set up for people to send to his defense fund he says that he is using the stand your ground defense!

That will never work, the racists only charge in to the defense of the criminal or murderers if the victims are black, they are johnny on the spot to show support for the murder of blacks and condemn the entire black race for the crimes of a few, even if it's a totally unrelated crime and the criminals have been imprisoned or sentenced...., no that's not good enough...they demand we condemn the entire race and over look little crimes like this because of the color of the skin.
If these victims were black there would be thousands of posts proclaiming the lack of evidence and trial by public opinion, it would be argued that MSNBC is biased for publicizing the murder of blacks and "not paying any attention at all to the crimes against whites"....hmmm, no mention of anything like that in this thread...., oh the victims are not black, silly me!

Maybe he was just helping pack up and when he went home the ultra jealous wife said thats enough and went to extract some vengeance on the family.
Please dont forget that what you read is what the media is telling you ---- and its always bits and pieces, none of which has been absolutely verified anyway.

I'm not from the South but I'm hearing so many derogatory comments about it. I can say this- In the south they aren't afraid to use the death penalty, unlike the "northern" states that sentence people to death but never use it.

Absolutely tragic. This story is really confusing. He was a family friend who went psycho? His wife and daughter helped commit murder and kidnapping. Crazy. The mom and daughter's eyes do not look happy to me.
With such a unique face this scumbag should be easy to spot. I pray the two girls are unharmed.
This isn't about white on white crime or north versus south. There's no room for political views either. It's a horribly, tragic story of two lives lost and two innocent children that are missing. I hope against hope that they are found safely and that ALL those that are involved are dealt with swiftly and harshly. Thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victims.
This is far from sarcasm or the like - there are areas of the country (North, South, East, West) that are very isolated and incestual relationships occur too frequently or have in the past. I'm not saying this is the case - but I'd say the conditions favor that possibility. Incest has long traditions in "royal" families - esp Eygpt thousands of years ago. It creates all sorts of problems both physically and mentally. Ask any animal breeder. That's one reason they keep such detailed records. Humans can screw up anything if you give them the opportunity. It's very sad.

The number of crimes and the depravity of them is unlike anything I've ever experienced or heard of any where else in the World, sort of war zone atrocities.
