Teacher who changed grades now charged with forgery

NBC Chicago

Sara M. Glashagel, 27, of Elk Grove Village, Ill., was charged with 24 counts of forgery.

A woman on probation for changing the grades of football players at Antioch High School in Illinois -- where she was a teacher and her husband head coach -- is now facing multiple counts of forgery for allegedly scamming her new employer.

Sara M. Glashagel, 27, of Elk Grove Village, has been arrested on a forgery warrant and charged with 24 counts of forgery, DeKalb police Lt. Gary Spangler said.

Glashagel was working in the Roselle area as a sales representative for DeKalb-based American Marketing & Publishing, Spangler said. She allegedly sold advertising to fictitious companies or real companies she did not visit and submitted the bogus contracts to collect commission payments.

Police said she submitted some real contracts too, but the scam was uncovered in early March when a company complained that it had not purchased ads, Spangler said.

Glashagel made headlines in 2011 when she was accused of changing the grades of several Antioch High School students, most of whom were athletes. She is the wife of head football coach Brian Glashagel.

The former special education teacher was placed on administrative leave after her December arrest and resigned a short time later. Investigators found she gained unauthorized access to the school’s computer database and changed the grades of 64 students -- including 41 football players.

She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor computer tampering in February and was sentenced to a year’s probation and 80 hours of community service. She also was banned form having contact with the school, but is allowed to attend football games.

Most are perfectly sane and great teachers, but being a female teacher, you have to wonder if she was also having sex with any of them.

I think she was working a different angle, her husband was the football coach. She likely changed grades so some of the kids on the team would be eligible to play. I know that some of the football players when I went to high school and college were definitely more athlete than student...

Mugshots are usually very bad, I would say she is probably a hottie and being tall attracted alot of the football team. The question is which one nailed the 53 yard field goal in "overtime"........

Comon folks, just because the students were athletes doesn't mean some hanky panky was going on, after all, teachers and administrators on the picket line will say "It is for the children".

Meanwhile, back to the Antioch High School student's scholastic achievement records:

Thirty-eight seniors have been named State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. These members of the Class of 2012 earned the honor because of their high ACT scores, class ranks, and grade point averages. Approximately the top ten percent of graduates from approved high schools are announced as State Scholars each year. The State Scholars received a congratulatory letter and were recognized at the December You Make A Difference Breakfast.

Wait a minute, maybe she is the tip of the iceberg test score problems at the school.

If you had even read the first paragraph you would not have asked such a question

Looks like high school hasn't changed. Football players are still the center of attention. They continue getting all the breaks, but maybe we should feel some sympathy for them since these years are the peaks of their lives, it's downhill afterwards lol.

I think if she was having sex with them then her husband probably knew. It would not surprise me though. There are so many sick people in the world today. It is no wonder there are so many getting into education. As poor as we treat teachers today nobody in their right mind will go into education any more.

Why does this article call her a teacher?! Why doesn't it say, "Former Teacher who changed grades now charged with forgery."

She's not a teacher any longer. She's a disgrace to the profession and she was dismissed. This article is about her forgery AFTER being dismissed from her educational post. And a good thing they did too. This woman needs to learn her boundaries.

Because the title written this way will get WAY more clicks, even though it's disingenuous.

      To the editors of MSNBC:

You need to start reviewing your headlines to avoid misleading your readers. The headline here implies the woman was charged with forgery for changing high school students' grades, when in fact, the forgery charges stem from a completely unrelated incident.

In this age where most news is delivered as headlines-only and one-line blurbs, you cannot afford to have inaccurate or misleading headlines anymore.

agreed, but then again...an accurate headline wouldnt have gotten people to click on this article.

you have to reel in the anti-govt/anti-teachers somehow.

who cares if a FORMER TEACHER does something wrong, we need to rail on about current teachers screwing up american youths lives...and being the sole reason america is going broke.

People with a history of unethical or dishonest behavior generally do not change simply because they have been caught.

Our hysterical privacy advocates want to keep subsequent employers from knowing about your bad history, I guess to give you a chance to do it again, as this person has.

Why do men act like they have never seen breast before. This is why in our society men are looked at as total idiots. You watch a commercial; the man is a idiot. You watch a sitcom; the man is a idiot. You click on a new story and again... idiots.

Men in America react to womens features like this because we have been a sexual repressed society. In Europe they don't have these kind of reactions.

A principal has the ability to change any grades at any time and many do. It is important for the teachers to keep good records of the grades they give students so that this does not happen and can be caught if it does.

The school grades she was only starting obama plan early. take grade from a great student and give them to other who don't work hard for grades, but for play!!

Take from the rich and give to the poor... I guess that falls under this.
