Subscribe to RSSDOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. -- Two women who claimed that someone painted the words "Kill the Gay" on their garage door in Parker are now charged with spray painting the phrase themselves, NBC station KUSA of Denver reported.
The women deny the charge.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office arrested Aimee Whitchurch, 37, and Christel Conklin, 29. Both face charges of criminal mischief and false reporting. Whitchurch also faces a charge of forgery, KUSA reported. Each is free on $1,000 bail.
The women reported the incident Oct. 28, saying they were victims of a hate crime.
When deputies arrived at the home on Lark Water Lane, they found the words in red spray paint on the garage door. The next day, investigators went back to the home after receiving a report that a noose was left on the front door handle.
The women told investigators that they felt the incidents were retaliation for issues they were having with their homeowner's association and their neighbors.
Investigators now say they believe Whitchurch and Conklin spray painted their own garage and placed the noose themselves.
On Thursday, Whitchurch told KDVR of Denver they now suspect a former roommate falsely told the FBI that they had painted the words.

Remember the Duke Lacrosse hate crime. Crystal Gail Mangum faked that hate crime, and she ruined several innocent people's lives. A few years ago, she was arrested for the murder of her boyfriend. That girl had some serious issues.
If they did it then punish them the same as if it was a hate crime.
Knowingly falsely accuse someone of rape, then you should get the same kind of sentence as if you had raped someone .
Fake a hate crime, then be punished the same as if you perpetrated that hate rime.
Prosecutors are creative folks, they should be able to find the charges so enough time can be sentenced. And if not, well some legislator can get a new law before it happens again.

False reporting is protected under the first amendment. Spay painting hate crime slogans is not. All hate crime slogans are a federal offense.
False reporting is not protected under the first amendment because it negatively impacts others in society. Law enforcement wastes time on it, we pay taxes to cover their time...

Poor reporting from MSNBC. Please inform us about the forgery charge. Is the forgery charge part of the spray painting or is it totally unrelated? I am confused.

99.9% are born with either testicles that produce sperm or with ovaries that produce eggs. This new being was not designed or planned or prepared to be a homosexual and be designed not to probably reproduce. We have to understand that homosexuality is a mistake of nature, hormones, upbringing or what not. It is an evolutionary dead end.
Yes they exist. Fine society has agreed, in the United States to give them the same rights as heterosexuals, but they are not what nature planned for them to be. There is no sense for them being in nature. No matter all the screaming, yelling, democrats and liberals, parades and marches, they are still an evolutionary dead end and something that went wrong in the uterus or with the DNA or in their upbringing. This is the problem with these people.
Most times it's like that...repeated events of Lesbian couples claiming hate crimes and the neighbors being interviewed and saying they didn't know and didn't care, that African-American Coastguards man claiming it and setting up false events because he wanted out of Alaska, tons of cases. Most cases of so called 'hate crimes' like these are done by the individuals reporting them.
In a very small sentence at the bottom of the story, it says "On Thursday, Whitchurch told KDVR of Denver they now suspect a former roommate falsely told the FBI that they had painted the words." In other words, they no longer believe that they did it but instead believe that their former roomate lied to make it look like they did it....so instead of removing the headline and reporting the actual story as it developes, MSN decided to keep it up and add just one little sentence at the end???
And for the record, there are good gay people and bad gay people....just like there are good straight people and bad straight people....just as in any other catagory you put people in....
