NBC's Chuck Todd reports on the foiled plot to disrupt the NATO summit by attacking targets in Chicago with Molotov cocktails, including President Obama's campaign headquarters.
Updated at 8 p.m. ET CHICAGO -- Three anti-NATO protesters charged with terrorism conspiracy planned to attack four Chicago police stations, the local campaign headquarters for President Barack Obama and the home of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, prosecutors alleged in court Saturday.
A fourth man also was charged Saturday, police said, but it was not clear if that case was linked to the other three.
While friends of the first three men insisted they were just operating a home brewery, prosecutors stated that police found a gun that fires mortar rounds, swords, a hunting bow, ninja-like throwing stars and knives with brass knuckle handles.
The beer-brewing operation, prosecutors added, was used to fill bottles with gasoline that would later be thrown as Molotov cocktails.
"Plans were made to destroy police cars and attack four CPD stations with destructive devices, in an effort to undermine the police response" to attacks on the Obama office, the Emanuel home as well as unspecified financial institutions during the NATO summit this weekend, the charging statement said.
The men were identified as 22-year-old Brian Church, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 27-year-old Jared Chase, of Keene, N.H.; and 24-year-old Brent Betterly, who told police he resides in Massachusetts.
The three are "self-proclaimed anarchists, and members of the 'Black Bloc' group," prosecutors said, without elaborating.
Michael Deutsch, an attorney for the men, denied that and said the men and their friends were in Chicago to "peaceably protest."
The three were charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism, possession of an explosive or incendiary device and providing material support for terrorism. Bond of $1.5 million was set for each defendant.
Sebastian Senakiewicz, 24, was arrested at an Odell Avenue residence Thursday by a Chicago police intelligence team. He was charged Saturday with one count of weapons conspiracy. Police said he was conspiring with two or more others to make explosives including molotov cocktails to be used during the NATO summit. It was not immediately clear if he was conspiring with the first three.
Defense attorneys for Church, Chase and Betterly told a judge on Saturday that undercover police were the ones who brought the Molotov cocktails, and that their clients were entrapped.
Deutsch later told reporters outside the courtroom that, though he was just getting into the case and didn't know all the evidence, he believed it was a setup. At least two informants "ingratiated themselves" with the three men, brought the materials and made the alleged plans, he insisted, calling it "an entrapment to the highest degree."
But Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy told reporters "the evidence speaks for itself" about what he called an "imminent threat."
Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez said the investigation began weeks ago and local authorities had the help of the FBI and the Secret Service.
"The individuals that we have charged in this investigation are not peaceful protesters, they are domestic terrorists ... these men were here to hurt people," Alvarez said. "They were making the bombs ... (and had) directions on how to implement this."
Read the full charging document
The charging document states that "while the Molotov Cocktails were being poured, Church discussed the NATO Summit, the protests, and how the Molotov Cocktails would be used ... At one point, Church asked if others had ever seen a 'cop on fire' and discussed throwing one of the Molotov Cocktails into" a police station.
"Church stated that he also wanted to buy several assault rifles, and indicated that if a police officer was going to point a gun at him, then Church would be 'pointing one back'," the document states.
Six others initially arrested were released Friday. They were all detained in a raid Wednesday on a home in Bridgeport on Chicago's South Side, NBCChicago.com reported.
Overall, 14 people have been arrested in the lead up to the summit, McCarthy said. When asked if more arrests were expected in this case, he said he was "not positive," though he noted the investigation was ongoing.
But the group of protesters said what police thought was suspicious was actually a home beer-brewing operation.
"We were handcuffed to a bench and our legs were shackled together. We were not told what was happening," one of those detained but later released, Darrin Ammussek, told NBCChicago.com. "I believe very strongly in non-violence, and if I had seen anything that even resembled any plans or anything like that, we wouldn’t have been there."
Scenes from Chicago protests surrounding NATO summit
He claimed that during 18 hours in custody, police never told him why he was arrested, read him his rights or allowed him to make a phone call, The Associated Press reported. He said he remained handcuffed to a bench, even after asking to use a restroom.
"There were guards walking by making statements into the door along the lines of 'hippie,' 'communist,' 'pinko,'" a tired-looking Ammussek told reporters just after his release.
Security has been high throughout the city in preparation for the summit, where delegations from about 60 countries, including 50 heads of state, will discuss the war in Afghanistan and European missile defense.
US veterans to return war medals in protest
Among the pre-NATO protests was a march on the home of Mayor Emanuel by about 500 people on Saturday. The big show will be on Sunday, the start of the two-day NATO summit, when thousands of protesters are expected to march 2½ miles from a band shell on Lake Michigan to the McCormick Place convention center, where delegates will be meeting.

Terror charges? that is pretty harsh on some kids that just made a BIG mistake and weren't thinking about what they were doing. This whole "terror" thing is way over powered and is abused by our government. Total BS.
Your right there is a very fine line between Terrorist & Police State..... We have to be vigilant to protect our RIGHTS…..
Homebrewing of beer is a BIG mistake?
The whole terror law was a BIG mistake! Or was it?
The National Defense Authorization Act states that if suspected of being a terrorist you can be arrested and detained indefinitely.
They have done away with the whole constitution.
Welcome to the new america we are all terroist now so we should keep our mouth's shut! Its not our country now its theirs unless you have alot of welth if not you have no country no freedom its bought and paid for by the rich and powerful its a sad state we are in.
NDAA...every politician who voted for this should be thrown out of the country as traitors to the US Constitution.
Rocky, fortunately for these kids (because brewing your own beer makes you a terrorist), a judge blocked that portion of the NDAA this week.
Freedom...your full of BS!! We have no freedom here, your delusional! America is still the best country in the world with more freedoms than anywhere else. Our justice system is always looking out for the accused and does it best to balance the need for safety with finding the bad guys so get off the 'rich and powerful' crap!
NJ John, Actually, the US ranks closer to the bottom of any compilation of freedoms leading to a designation of the best country of Earth. We were once, but big money interests have slowly and steadily eroded that position in deference to themselves.
Hummm Chicago, doesn't this remind you of another protest several years ago. The police then used the same tactics.
NJ John
Sorry to desappoint you, but we have way more freedoms in Europe... I know, I have spent 25 years in the usa and as much in europe...
American truely live in a police state, believe me ! You have no freedom of expression unless it is done quietly... the problem, because the rich and powerful have all the power, they also have the police and military behind them so they can control the rest of us and keep us in check ! Do you get it ??? No, you are no longer free and that has been that way for a very long time.. the large majority of the rich and powerful are the true terrorists, believe me...
'NJ John' - you're joking, right? You forgot to mention as tail-gunner joe said "you can spot most American commies & pinkos by the hair below the collar and they're usually carrying a guitar case." If you're serious I suggest you go back to Langley.
For all you, degenerates, that complain about the freedom in the US and trying to compare Europe and the US, here is what I think of you. The first prove of the freedom in this country is that you are allowed to spew your miserable Commie propaganda here with no consequences. And that's great. Freedom is for all, even you. And what do you know about not being free. Have you tried to live in a different country? You were spoiled by what you've got here, with no appreciation to it. And if any of you would like to question my credentials or expertise on freedom, let me stop you right now... I was born and spent 30 years of my life in Soviet Union. I know what freedom, or lack of it, means. Unlike you, I have a point of comparison. As far as the US world ranking in this regard, look who makes those rankings. The UN Human Rights commission. The one that at one time or another was presided by Libya, Syria, Cuba, Iran. Are you kidding me? I just wish you can be sent to live in another country for a while just to see how you'd like that. You'd crawl back in no time. I travel a lot for business and pleasure. Every time I come back I figuratively kiss the ground at the airport. So grow up, get out of your mother's basement and learn to appreciate what we've got here, in the US, the land of freedom and opportunity. Or stay sour losers that you are, but don't get on the way of decent people or you'll be squashed.
The"Good old U.S.A" is going to hell in a hand basket!!
Home brewing operation? It sure didn't sound like Chicago is their home.
They keep going in this direction of a fascist state and more people come to understand what we are losing we will never get back, and they will see a hundred million marching in the street. How will their police state function then?
Greatest country in the world? The mother of all democracies - the land of FREEDOM holds the record for the most citizens incarcerated. These amateur bootleggers, who imposed on no ones rights, will do/have done, more time than Dick Cheney, George Bush, Condoleeza Rice. All of which are responsible for the premeditated murder of THOUSANDS of U.S. citizens & are legally declared war criminals in most European countries. I admit, when it comes to dealing & importing the weapons of war - the Unistat Empire is number one.
Thank you for the intelligent post, Gregory. Indeed, those who do the most complaining about this country have never been out of this country and some not even out of the state of their birth. It really annoys me when I hear such people putting down this country. True, we do have problems here and will continue, but show me a country that has more freedom and opportunity. God bless America!!!!
Ghost -
We also have a larger population than many other countries. In order to get an accurate picture you have to look at the percentage of the population that is incarcerated - and what they are incarcerated for.
Would you rather have the habitual criminals (murderers, rapists, thieves, etc) on the street?
Yo Gregory, yes I've seen dictatorship in Panama & Nicaragua. I've also seen puppet governments in the Nam & Kampuchia (Cambodia). It's a matter of priorities - how much is a human life worth? If you wish to pucker & submit to your God - the almighty buck, have at it. Your smack talk & courage comes from a bottle & your credibility is ecclipsed by your hypocrosy. Nevertheless, I fought for your rights too. The cross I bear. How many confirmed kills you got?
Tammy-311614
There is a huge difference between keeping violent criminals off the street and setting aside laws that have protected "innocent until proven guilty" and "due process" for half a century. When the police are allowed to set aside Miranda, there is no longer a guarantee of due process.
Ghost - You got a better place in mind? If so why not go there? This country may not be perfect but it sure beats the hell out of any other place I know of. If you want change here get involved. Bitterness solves nothing.
@ tammy
The state of Georgia has the most inmates of any other state.....scary for anybody living in Georgia isnt it!
angry -
So what? You must look at what they are in prison for. If they are in prison for crimes, your argument is nonsense. Even if the crime was jaywalking, it's still on the books as a crime and they must pay the consequences. However, granted jail for jaywalking would be overboard, there are numerous crimes - drugs, prostitution, fraud, burglary, assault , and the like which should be rewarded with time in jail.
Do not let your bleeding heart fool you into letting the real criminals loose.
lol sounds like Ghosty has been spending too much time on his PS3 and or XBOX talking about all his confirmed kills...I have a feeling the only way you have served this country Ghost is at the drive through at McDonalds...and yes I will have fries with that...
I think I feel like a lot of others when I talk about Occupy. In its first month or so, it was great to see people speak out against corruption (because, come on, we all know the each corporation has some kind of political agenda they want fulfilled). But when the tents came down and it was time for action, they just stood there in the mud. If Occupy was smart, and started mass demonstrations like on May Day or followed suit with the Occupy Our Homes project, instead of thinking they can reset Tent City, it would still be alive. As it is, it keeps leading back to police brutality and not the issues they want addressed (which was another problem, since they lacked a clear, concise ideal).
with heavy democratic opposition the Military defense bill, was amended Thursday; allowing any American citizen arrested on a charge of being a threat to the security of the United States to have a court hearing within 30 days , was passed in Congress, it now goes to the Senate, where Harry Reid will try to stop it, since it was Obama that signed the defense authorization bill two months age, even though he had said he would not sign it with the original language which said, any person so arrested can be held without trial of access to a court, even for the rest of their life.
we will now see if there are enough Senators who still believe in the Constitution to get it passed.
(P.S. It was senator McCain(a senile old man), that included the detention bill in the original act, he latter claimed he had not read it).
Protest in this country seems to be illegal, a suspicious activity, instead of a righteous manifestation of democracy. Govt should be bending over backwards to protect the people's right to protest instead of looking for ways to discredit and defeat it. To equate protesters with terrorists reminds me of the South in the 60s when protesters were labelled outside Communist agitators.
As I looked at streaming video of the protest, I wondered just how many undercover cops the govt had in that crowd. People have a right to dissent and engage in civil disobedience without being spied upon and surveilled 24/7. But law enforcement and govt seems intent on turning this country into Egypt or Syria.
As for the Occupy Movement, I had met with a lot of these young people and I've never met a group so committed to non-violent protest. It's a shame that govt can so enthusiastically regulate protest but won't lift a finger to regulate Banking Criminal Activity. That's where the undercover cops should be--on Wall St.
BlueBurner - I'll ditto all of your sentiments with the exception that the charges are contrived. I've demonstrated with Occupy Seattle and in our May Day celebration for immigrants and worker rights and union members. I've never seen anyone get out of line, nor have I seen anyone arrested.
We are losing out rights, ever so slowly, to assemble and demonstrate peacefully. NATO & the USofA never asked for a show of hands in the Middle East as to whether or not they wanted US to be there!
Welcome to the NEW America! You are slowing being conned out of your rights and you don't even see it! WAKE UP!!!!
Actually we are not a free society as that would be anarchy we are a country of laws that allow certain "Freedoms" as long as we follow the laws. No country is truly free.
Chicago Police---Gestopo---Chicago Police---Gestopo---
This is absolutely a disgusting tactic the police are using. Even though it is totally unfounded, they use a criminal charge or accusation that will rally the public to the side of the police and allow them to intimidate citizens exercising their rights and justify using whatever force or actions they want to do...demonize...then crush. Sound familiar. The rights of American citizens are a myth...the Gestopo are ensuring their rights will not be allowed. Wake up America! You are no longer free. The rich rule!!!!
Molotov Cocktail...is that a kind of Russian brand drink Putin has endorsed?
who is this fool Gelsomino in the article saying the police are "terrorizing" the protestors. Thousands of people are on the streets protesting, three get arrested on suspicion of making molitiv cocktails, you know, the thing that burns people to death, and he says the police are terrorizing people. what an extremist, clueless idiot.
I personally don't have a problem with the "occupiers", that is until they start leaving their urine, feces and garbage filth in parks, breaking windows in businesses because they're "angry" and causing the very people they claim to stand with, the 99%'ers, to foot the bill for their idiocy. I pay high enough taxes thank you.
Follow Martin Luther King, and be non-violent.
Nobody wants to live in a blind and toothless world.
An eye for an eye, the world will soon go blind.
A tooth for a tooth, you will soon see a dentist.
We also have a larger population than many other countries. In order to get an accurate picture you have to look at the percentage of the population that is incarcerated - and what they are incarcerated for.
Would you rather have the habitual criminals (murderers, rapists, thieves, etc) on the street?
Our prison population soared with the onset of the war on drugs. A majority of our prison population are in on drug related charges. We don't have millions of rapists or murderers.
Once again we see the powers that be trying to demonize OWS by trying to associate them with terrorism. First they ignore you. Then they mock you. Then they threaten you. Then you win.
bomb? here we go again!
1886 a bomb exploded in Chicago during a labor rally, a labor activist was sentenced to die without any evidence. The entire world thus has commemorated May Day as their labor Day except the US
The Haymarket Massacre has had more infamy than Al Capoon. The crime has never been solved
Why hasn't MSNBC or any of the MSM reported on the Chicago Police rounding up peaceful citizens in their apartments and removing them?
You know, I can see this sort of chaos happening around a WTO conference. But NATO?
Last fall some right wing activists were paid to infiltrate the Occupy movement to create mischief in their attempt to discredit the movement, this time law enforcement is wary of them and will nip them in the bud, hopefully.
Peaceful marches and protests are inherent in our Bill of Rights, let's remember if Gandhi won his nation's independence through non-violence, we can and will surely win our battle against tyranny of war and greed.
Peace.
So if they were treated so badly how come all these protesters didn't apply for asylum and beg to be flown to China?
When a conviction and incarceration is the only consideration used as the yard stick for prison populations the issue of race and profiling is overlooked - it is sad but true that many people of color are unjustly convicted for crimes they did not convict and/or received harsher sentences than white or white collar criminals - this country still has some distance to travel in achieving its principles of true equality.
Everyone that voted George W Bush into a Second term can thank themselves for this. To Justify his illegal war he had the Patriot Act changed to where ANY day citizens of the US can be wire tapped without warrant, held indefinitely (under enemy combatant), and never even be charged or allowed access to an attorney.
People who voted that MAN into office should take a close look at all of the rights he took away from everyday Americans, simply to justify his Daddy's War.
My bets are they will hold these kids until after the Nato conference and then release them UNCHARGED. Its an easy way to keep protesters off the streets...
So let's for a minute assume these "kids" were behaving as terrorists and planned to do what is alleged. Would you all be happier if 4 police stations were demolished, and cops inside killed along with other innocent people, and the residence of the mayor including his children were killed, and everybody inside the Obama headquarters killed or injured as well? Should the cops just take a wait and see approach and then react?
I do think we are losing our rights every day due to increasing encroachment of the government which comes from the man sitting in the WH. It is called control. It didn't start with him, but he most certainly is making freedom harder to measure and keep. This is why government needs to become smaller and staying doing what is only essential to keep peace on the street while still allowing dissent. It is a tall order and I frankly feel for the police that I am sure are often conflicted.
We should probably wait to find out more about these arrests and what proof there is. I would prefer to save lives and minimize destruction of personal property that the police error on the side of caution.
BTW, my experience with cops has never been good and still I respect the need for order even if I resent it.
Slinger-958418
I agree with you about Bush, but bashing him without bashing the current administration that is 3.5 years in and has done nothing but promote the destruction of our rights is short-sighted. They are all guilty. Congresses. Presidents. ALL. They can't get a budget passed, so they pass legislation diminishing our rights to make it look as if they are doing something.
"swords, a hunting bow, ninja-like throwing stars and knives with brass knuckle handles", along with "home-brewing equipment"
Whoa, those are some real "terrorists" there, considering that the Bridgeport neighborhood in Chicago (34th Street and Halstead just north of the old Stockyards neighborhood), is a pretty rough and higher crime area. Imagine if these young beer-brewers had actually owned more than one gun, like so many other people in the Bridgeport neighborhood do??? Think of the damage that a hunting bow and throwing stars could do against a police station full of automatic weapons??? Anybody that would attack a police station or the Mayor's house in Chicago armed with a single gun, throwing stars, and a couple of knives could be accused of being potentially suicidal, but hardly a credible threat to anyone but themselves.
Imagine the audacity of the Occupy crowd who thought that they could get away with both free speech and brewing their own beer while they owned less than half the level of personal protection weaponry that the average Bridgeport household does???
Quite frankly, you don't need home-brewing equipment to make Molotov cocktails either. No, all that you need is some gasoline, a bottle, and a rag to make a Molotov cocktail, which means that every single person that owns a car or a lawnmower is a potential terrorist too.
This case amounts to egregious entrapment, and these kids are likely guilty of nothing else than discussing wanting a better life for themselves and their friends than the future currently offered to them by the continuous erosion of the middle class while the wealthiest among us increasingly garner all of our national wealth.
theboys
I totally agree we wouldn't want something like that to happen. But when the cops don't give Miranda and charge for a crime it diminishes the rule of law that guides our society. It also will, even if they were up to no good, get them off because these things were not done. Then, if they are as bad as they are perceived, they will be free to do real harm.
I believe there are laws for a reason, and when the cops break them I think it could be truly scary what we will become.
Old Timer-88224
I would like to see that! Throwing a car.
"Sorry to desappoint you, but we have way more freedoms in Europe"
Are you kidding me? Europe is a place where the government watches you every second. Most of the countries in Europe don't allow citizens to have guns, that way, the European government can do whatever they want without any resistance. In one article, a public bus company in London owned by a business owner had a sign on a bus that said "Gay's can be cured from their disease". Do you know what the British government said to the bus owner? They said he had to take the sign off of the bus or else he would be punished. That is a direct violation of Freedom of Speech! Oh wait, Europe doesn't have Freedom of Speech.
Really???? Could have fooled me!!!
I might add that the makeup of both Houses of Congress when the Patriot Act was passed in October of 2001 was Republican majority control thanks to the tie-breaking vote of Dick Cheney in the US Senate.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/107th_United_States_Congress#Party_summary
Pay attention to the section entitled "Party Summary", where it shows that the Republican and Democrat parties each had 49 seats in the US Senate on the date that the Patriot Act passed, and that there was a single independent Senator (Jeffords, a former Republican), and Dick Cheney held a tie-breaking vote. Moreover, on the day before the Patriot Act was signed into law, Paul Wellstone, a Democrat, passed away, leaving the Republicans with a clear party-line majority. On the House side, where bills are generally originated, the Republicans held a 220-210 seat majority, with two independents, one of whom generally voted Republican and the other Democrat.
I would like to see that! Throwing a car.
How about siphoning some gas out of your car, secretly, in your own garage, away from the prying eyes of the police-state drones???
My brother in law owns two guns, both antiques, he also has a collection of authentic antique swords, he is a liberal college professor in Ohio too, and he owns two cars and a lawnmower too, not to mention his chain saw, so my guess is that he is considerably more of a threat than these kids are.
I have no problem with occupier and I am not too stupid to generalize them all to the scum that try to make them look bad like breaking window or incite riots.
If you have read history as much as I do, you will learn that in most cases, the crowd is easily rile up and most of the time there is someone manipulate them from the shadow. It is easy to tarnish an image of peaceful protest with a few instigator, like that reporter who stormed museum or plain cloth police who pretend to be part of encampment and suggest some outrage plan.
Sadly, the masses is so easy to be manipulate be it occupiers or people who read biases news. Remember, the rich/nobles have done this again and again and again throughout history.
Hello folks, what you are witnessing is the final push of this group of elite corrupt power brokers who are purposely trying to implement the intentional infliction of insecurity, suffering, and scarcity on a population to cause panic, compliance, and acceptance of additional exploitation to extract more wealth from the 99%. It is amazing how easily assets can be acquired and individual rights denied (as with fraudclosure) when people are overwhelmed by corruption on all sides. The elite are broke and are using the presstitutes to try and control us through fear and only the sheeple will be afflicted by this centuries old ploy. The true patriots are perplexed and pissed off at the state of the police state. Fraud and theft are the order of the day and without a compliant populace, the elite are toothless.
The governing elite of psychopathic bankers/Federal Reserve, Wall Street, corrupt politicians, and powerful mega-corporations create crises, then save us from the crises they created, while accumulating more control, wealth and power. This perpetual swindle has been going on for decades and has reached its zenith. This demented psychology is called Problem – Reaction – Solution.
It is time to remove and arrest this criminal cabal that has enslaved humanity.
Since 2001 the Federal government has used fear to assume unprecedented and unconstitutional powers over the citizens of this country. They can now use surveillance to monitor your phones calls, emails, and websites visited, without warrants. You can be imprisoned without charges for as long as the government decides you are a threat. TSA agents molest little old ladies and children trying to fly on airplanes. The President can take over the entire economy through presidential decree. Predator spy drones can eliminate suspected terrorists whenever a general gives the command. An order for 30,000 spy drones to be flying over U.S. cities should make you feel safe. The $2 billion NSA Utah Data Gathering Center (code name Stellar Wind) will be able to intercept and store every electronic signal on the planet by 2013. Sacrificing liberty for perceived safety and security isn’t working out too well for the American people.
What is fraud except creating “value” from nothing and passing it off as something? Frauds interlink and grow upon each other. Our debt-based money system serves as the fraud foundation. In our debt-based money system, debt must grow in order to create money. Therefore, there is no way to pay off aggregate debt with available money. More money must be lent into the system to make the payments for old debts. This causes overall debt to expand as new money for actual people (vs. banks) always arrives at interest and compounds exponentially. This process is called financialization.
The rampant mortgage fraud, the robo-signing crimes, trillions of shadowy derivatives, unfunded government pensions, unfunded Medicare and Social Security promises, and the bald-faced looting of customer accounts by MF Global, JP Morgan Chase have brought about a realization among those capable of critical thought that this crisis is growing worse by the day.
In the ultimate example of cognitive dissonance and misdirected outrage, the majority of Americans scorn and ridicule the young people being beaten, maced and arrested for protesting the rampant criminality of the Wall Street 1%ers while supporting a billionaire banker bailout, 0% interest rates that punish senior citizens and savers while encouraging further debt accumulation, and not be outraged that not one criminal banker has gone to jail. John Corzine through MF Global and through his friend Jamie Dimon stole 1.6 billion of U.S. investor money and where is the outrage.
The elite are desperate in implementing a one world currency and government and will pull out all the stops to prevent Americans from defying their plan. The problem for them is that the entire globe is awakening to the financial tyranny that has enslaved us for centuries. We were asleep for awhile, now we have woken up. Their game is up and they have lost. Hundreds of high level bankers have been resigning or arrested (the rats are jumping ship) around the globe and MF Global, JP Morgan Chase, Greece and the quadrillion derivatives market and credit default swaps ruse has been exposed. We are on to them now! Europe has collapsed it is just looking for a place to fall down. The same thing will befall the United States here in the very near future. The powers that were are trying to stave off the inevitable by trying to start a war with Iran, but that will not happen.
Believe it or not folks we will have an opportunity to take back our sovereignty and currency once this corrupt system collapses and it is happening right in front of our eyes. There is nothing to fear, only opportunity for us to regain our constitutional rights that were fought for by our ancestors. Passivity equates with more abuse and exploitation, more austerity, and greater hijacking of national and personal assets. Active, civil resistance is necessary to stop the loss of public sovereignty to private interests. Creative, viable alternatives to the currently corrupt and fraud-ridden global economic system are vital. You can stand up to this tyranny or kneel to your oppressors!
@john-737278 lol I cannot tell if you are serious or trolling. Judging by the intelligence of most of the people posting here I bet that you are serious...
Like Old Timer has stated you do not need a machine to make Molotov cocktails. Do the police have any evidence other then the machine like a recording from an audio or visual tape? If there any evidence other then what the undercover police officer overheard?
A gun that is used to fire mortars? Oh you mean a cardboard tube that is used to launch fireworks? That is the only "mortar" that they would be in possession of and they are "legal".
Had the police waited until the they loaded up a car and were driving towards the police stations on the DAY of the planned attack then I would not be saying anything. This is entrapment plan and simple. Bet the police officer offered them way MORE money then the Molotov cocktails cost to make. They were probably just trying to make some extra money.
@ Tammy
The real criminals are loose. Let's start with MSN and the rest of the "free" press:
The Supreme Court stated in Red Lion v. FCC in 1969: “It is the purpose of the First Amendment to preserve an uninhibited marketplace of ideas in which truth will ultimately prevail, rather than to countenance monopolization of that market, whether it be by the Government itself or a private licensee. It is the right of the public to receive suitable access to social, political, esthetic, moral, and other ideas and experiences which is crucial here. That right may not constitutionally be abridged either by Congress or by the FCC.”
Free Press that LEGALLY CANNOT be owned by a monopoly - means that the head of the FCC and the next two or three layers directly beneath need to be arrested as traitors - for OUR form of government requires the People to have access to accurate information so that they can make better decisions. It is part of what keeps our federal government being a servant created by the States and the people from overstepping their bounds; and not the people being a servant of the federal government, understand the difference?
Have you ever read the "Opening Statement for the Nuremberg Trail" by Justice Robert H. Jackson, Chief of Counsel for the United States?
“Uncontrolled search and seizure is one of the first and most effective weapons in the arsenal of every arbitrary government. Among deprivations of rights, none is so effective in cowing a population, crushing the spirit of the individual and putting terror in every heart.” Justice Robert Jackson, Chief U.S. Prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials
You should, because then you would recognize what is happening today. Read JUST the Opening Statement, (or the rest) it is a real eye opener. Some examples from it are (MY comparisons and comments are enclosed in { }:
What happened in Germany in the past was not a “fast” takeover – the destruction of its legitimate government was done slowly over a decade, and quite possibly 2 or more decades.
... First they were to infiltrate the legitimate government and from within bring about “change”.
Some of the declared purposes sounded good to many good citizens, such as: "profit-sharing in the great industries," {Very similar to "Take from the 1%..."}
... a “strong centralized government” was needed.
It demanded the creation of a strong central power with unconditional authority,
... and a "reconstruction" of the educational system
The National Socialist German Workers Party felt it was needed to end civil liberties
... there could be no freedom of the press – the press had to completely support the Party.
The National Socialist German Workers Party plans were for the overthrow of, and then the “capture” of the legitimate central government so they could change it to what they wanted. {Happening here? how much of our Constitution, our legitimate government is now being followed? Is Obama following the blueprint for the Executive branch? Did Bush or Clinton follow it?}
There was practiced violent interference with German elections. {New Black Panthers – Washington Post: The lawsuit was focused on the party and two of its members, who stood out front of a polling place in Philadelphia on Election Day 2008 wearing military gear. They were captured on video and were accused of trying to discourage some people from voting. One carried a nightstick.}
There were reports of the SD describing in detail how its members later violated the secrecy of elections {Election Fraud in all the states that have voted for the 2012 GOP. Past Election Fraud – Fox News: The Democratic presidential primary petitions that put then-candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on the 2008 primary ballot in Indiana are the focus of a criminal investigation. There are allegations that numerous signatures and names on the petitions were forged, so many in fact, that questions have been raised as to whether now-President Obama even qualified with enough legal signatures to get on the primary ballot in the first place.}
A separate government was set up within the legitimate government within the Party to exercise outside the law every sanction that any legitimate state could exercise and many that it could not {Obama’s “Czars”, TSA, DHS}.
The Party had its own secret police, its security units, its intelligence and espionage division, its raiding forces, and its youth forces {DHS, TSA, look up “Obama youth” on youtube.com}.
It also established administrative mechanisms over time {Patriot Act, NDAA, warrantless searches, warrantless spying, TSA, etc} to identify those who supported the legitimate government.
They “encouraged” the populace to inform on their own neighbors, friends, family {“See Something, Say Something”, and other videos the DHS put out here in America}.
Eventually they organized and dominated every phase of German life {as is being tried here thru the UN laws, and executive orders, bills, laws made here}.
They created a “Party” police system, which became the pattern and the instrument of the police state, which was the first goal in their plan. {DHS and TSA – starting to arrange themselves throughout our nation to control our every move and where we can go: at airports, bus stations, train stations, even on our own roads.}
A presidential decree was created suspending the extensive guarantees of individual liberty contained in the constitution of the Weimar Republic.
Those decree’s were restrictions on personal liberty,
on the right of free expression of opinion - including freedom of the press,
on the right of peaceful assembly,
the right of association,
and violations of the privacy: postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications;
and no need for warrants for house-searches,
orders for, confiscations as well as restrictions on property, etc all taken away under the guise of “keeping the people safe”.
Significantly {much like what is happening within the USA today, as all of the “restrictions” on our freedoms are “for our own safety”} many were arrested as “belligerents” – no real crime committed, just disagreeing with the destruction of their legitimate government.
Secret arrest and indefinite detention; without charges, without evidence, without hearing, without counsel, and no court could issue an injunction, or writ of habeas corpus, or certiorari. The German people were in the hands of the police, the police were in the hands of the Party, and the Party was in the hands of ... {NDAA, Patriot Act, various executive orders, warrantless arrests, etc}
The N--- conspiracy, as was shown during the Nuremberg trail, always contemplated not just about overcoming current opposition but exterminating elements which could not be reconciled with its philosophy of the state.
{US Army Re-Education Camp Manual - describes how political activists in prison camps will be indoctrinated by specially assigned psychological operations officers. US detention camps will have PSYOP teams whose responsibility will be to use "indoctrination programs to reduce or remove antagonistic attitudes," as well as targeting "political activists" with such indoctrination programs to provide "understanding and appreciation of U.S. policies and actions." It applies to citizens detained within the USA, whether they be DCs (displaced citizens) or “civilian internees,” in other words citizens who are detained for, “security reasons, for protection, or because he or she committed an offense against the detaining power.”
It’s the responsibility of the PSYOP officer to "control detainee and DC populations during emergencies."
"Resettlement conducted as a part of civil support operations will always be conducted in support of another lead agency (Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Homeland Security)". Page 13 notes how "U.S. citizens will be confined separately from detainees," meaning they will be separated from foreign prisoners in the camps.
On page 146 of the manual, we learn how prisoners in the camps are to be identified: “The prisoner’s last name, first name, and middle initial are placed on the first line of a name board, and the prisoner’s social security number is placed on the second line.”
The document clearly shows that the policies outlined in the manual can be applied domestically. The language makes it clear that so long as the President passes an executive order to nullify Posse Comitatus, the law that forbids the military from engaging in domestic law enforcement, the policies “may be performed as domestic civil support operations.”
The manual states, “These operations may be performed as domestic civil support operations,” and adds that “The authority to approve resettlement such operations within U.S. territories,” would require a “special exception” to The Posse Comitatus Act, which can be obtained via “the President invoking his executive authority.”}
The German people thought with their Constitution and freedoms that what ended up happening could not happen there. But many Americans believe the same.
“Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.” Frederick Douglass
i had a senator who voted against this kind of policing that's against the constitution, but the dirty GOP got him ran him out of office because he was a democrat and didn't like the campaign laws. Now look what we have, a campaign ran by the top 1%ers and freedoms trampled. love america very much but sometimes it very hard to see clearly in the haze they put in front of you
Oh yea... entrapment... ANYONE would have provided bottles with gasoline if asked.
And sure... they're just kids... it's only terrorism if it's done by a religious sect we're biased against.
They were just having fun... who wouldn't want to bomb President Obama's and Mayor Emanuel's offices... it's all in fun!
BS. Nail 'em.
Active, civil resistance is necessary to stop the loss of public sovereignty to private interests
Hit the banks and corporations where it hurts: Their wallets. Hit the politicians where it hurts by voting them out. That is all these people care about it; money and power. They don't care about the people. The apathetic masses are a way for them to profit and remain in power.

It would help to know, to which post you are referring, as to whether I am serious.
The anti-G8'ers are out in force today. If you plan violence you are going to jail. Plain and simple. Be glad they were discovered and weren't able to carry out any of what they had planned.
The point is that gvernment reports often turn out to be untrue, I wish this is not the case this time. But even it's true, MOST protesters have only good intentions. Nobody should use this small number of wackos to deny majority's good intentions.

Its so sad this is the america in which we live. i never envisioned that america would be a land controlled by the elite. where 1% of americans would own 40% of our wealth, and where the average ceo makes 427x the average worker. i am disgusted that this has been allowed to happen. the reason it has been is because of fear. people fear change, they fear that if we put restrictions on the elite, we will suffer as a people. newsflash: we are already suffering at their hands. sorry to say that the govt isn't much better. the reason for this is that the govt is controlled by the wealthy. the average person will never be voted into office because of the way the system is created. you need tons of money for campaignes and you need a lot of poitical power to even be able to run. until average citizens with knowledge and expertise can be in the govt, the wealthy will continue to own us all. they have each others hands in each others pockets. this isn't a democracy or a free society. bush signed in the patriot act which limits many of our freedoms it is very scary, all while using the events of sept. 11 and the fear it generated to do so. sadly obama hasn't done much better about what freedoms we have. right now in cali he is using taxpayer dollars to shut down legal marijuana clinics. im sorry but who cares seriously. has anyone seen the on drugs is obvioulsy not working and is only perpetuating street crime leading to gang violence and mexican cartels? not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dealers not committing violent crimes that are incarcerated all on the dime of the taxpayers. they use scare tactics for that as well saying that if drugs were legal everyone would be doped up, stupid, violent or whatever. newsflash: the people who want drugs ARE getting them, last time i checked i wouldn't jump to use a nasty drug like heroin if it was legal.violence withing the drug community occurs because no one (police)can be used to protect their product so they take measures into their own hands. the point is that scare tactics efficiently control the masses and american elite and corporation are using the methods as we speak. stalin and hitler did the same to control the masses. slowly and surely they strip you of your rights until you realize we have none. this is what happened in these countries. the govt has used its power to override our constitution so efficiently these past 10 years it is truly frightening. sadly, i see no end in sight either and this is why the govt allows us to still have freedom of speech. they know we will not rise up together as a people and actually do something because we are so divided about the stupid stuff like if gays can get married than the actual issues right under our noses. united we stand , divided we WILL fall and the govt and corporations cause a rift in the public every chance they get so that we hate our fellow citizen and bend over for corporate interests out of fear of the consequence. they control the labor force, they pit us against each other in competition, monopolies like wallmart and even pge over hear in cali are allowed to run the show. what happened to govt regulations of monopolies so that there is fair market prices? haha laughable. comcast over here is the only cable company you can subscribe to and they sure use it to their advantage. those who don't think they are all controlling us must wake up. i have stopped using big banks, switched over to a local credit union, have a very fuel efficient car and bike many places so that i don't contribute to big oil. i can go on but iv already talked enough. please people on the right please stop bending over for the greed and coruption that is ruining our country.
o and your righties: you seem to hate socialism so much... but also seem to be largely christian. do you realize jesus was a socialist and liberator of his time. im not "christian" because of the lifestyle and opinions of the "christian" community but i am a lover of jesus. he told his followers to live minimally, give to the poor and hungry, put others above yourself and question authority. he always deviated from the Pharisees of the time. he was a deviant, a rebel. i know you guys already pick and choose which verses to follow from the bible but i wish you would pick those instead of the ridiculous sodom and Gomorrah outdated gibberish.
Today, there was a win for civil liberties and beholding to the Constitution. Not that it will be announced by MSM, or that it may matter in the end, but Ron Paul won 32 of 40 delegates at Minnesota's convention today.
Liberty 2012
OK, ashp, I'm tired of the lefty crap that Jesus was a socialist; tell us, and be very specific, where your documentation for this nonsense is found...in the Bible or elsewhere. First of all, however, I suggest that you go to a credible source, and look up the definition of socialist. And, since you can so easily dismiss "the ridiculous sodom and Gomorrah gibberish", I suggest that you are the one guity of "picking and choosing" content from the Bible.
A white man with dreads? enough said.
if you look at the way jesus lived, it reflects ideal socialism that unfortunately hasn't been lived up to yet. socialism is the equal sharing of resources, limited if any personal ownership of property a society builty entirely on equality. if you look at the way jesus lived, he reflected these ideals. there wasn't a term "Socialism" back then. he didn't own land, he lived a vagabound existence, owned very minimal property, lived minimalistic, dressed in common clothes, told others to give almost every cent they have to the poor.he and his apostles shared communal property amongst each other including food as well. actually complained about the rich and extravagent lifestyles they led on more than one occasion.he told very many parables about the greed of the rich. if you recall in the bible, the only time jesus ever lost his temper was to protest against the rich, hypocrital and greedy pharasees that were selling products in the temple. he knocked over tables even and lost it! sound familiar to what you complain about in modern socialists? advocating equality and everyone is the same and share of resources so that no one is without. unfortunately greed corrupts and so this idea hasn't and probably will never be realized. what people don't get is that we wouldn't have to live such minimalist lives if true socialism was realized, its just that some would be living without a lot of what they have.the rich sure won't ever like to give up their yachts with feet warmers or trap doors so they don't have to see their servants drop off their food. in fact sir, YOU explain to me how he was a capitalist (spider). specific instances please, very. ever heard of give to ceasar what is ceasars? he even advocated taxation. what about jesus didn't scream socialism?
ashp, tell Jesus what you think of his "gibberish" when you see him...I bet he says: "depart from me, I never knew you"
fedup: do you know why jesus came to the earth? he came to rid the world of the legalism and condemnation of the old testament which is where the story of sodom is told. he came to forgive us of our sins and sin is sin according to god. jesus hung out with prostitutes and murderers. he forgave them. he forgave and rebuked a criminal that was sharing the sentence of hanging on a cross next to him. do you really think he would say that to someone with an opinion that we should love our brothers and sisters even if they are gay? you clearly don't know him then sir. jesus showed love and kindness too all people regardless of lifestyle or sin. the problem is that christian people forget thes things. and you just proved my point that people are too wraped up in gays to deal with real issues of the day. PEACE

I have no problem with people having religion. However, it should define how you live and how you treat people, but should never be taken as authority to believe you have any right what-so-ever to tell others how to live, or to preach to unwilling participants.
On a side note, since you can never have enough jesus. God in the old testament was an angry god. If jesus was in fact his son, I would think that man killing jesus would have set God off and armageddon would have happened over 2000 years ago. It would have set me off if I were God. Just a query.
john did you even read my posts?! its about how christians are constantly telling others how to live even though they aren't necessarily in accordane with the teachings of jesus. also, im making the argument that jesus was a socialist, not telling people how to live. in fact im doing the opposite saying the chrisitians should be more tolerant of other peoples lifestyle! what post did you read? i even stated im NOT a christian because i don't accept the old testament. it seems you saw jesus and put me in a category and in doing so proving that not just christians are intolerant. also you have the privelege to ignore my posts just as i have a privelage to post them. and clearly you haven't read the bible because god according to the bible actually sent his son here to die for a self fullfilling prophecy. he sent him here (god did) if you want to make arguments against the bible and its teachings you need to read it first. the only part of he bible is the preachings of jesus which is the most relevant and modern portion of it.
MMMM, interesting. Now the cops are going after folks for having a machine that makes molotov cocktails? A beer brewing machine at that. The only 'machine' necessary to make a molotov cocktail is a funnel. I have to agree with many of the posters who are deeply concerned about the direction this country has turned since the WAR ON TERROR! Now we have a police state and the congress and the CURRENT sitting president are real good at passing legislation that erodes civil rights, hell, tramples them, and protest. Lots of those handy little laws abound currently.
The dimwits arrested are probably truly victims of entrapment. Kinda like handing a child a bean and telling him to NOT stick it in his ear, first thing the kid will do is stick the bean in his ear.
I'm in favor of protesting NATO. Seems they're more of a neo-colonialist arm than anything else. Bomb the crap out of a country to insure the oil flows freely and the defense contractors profit mightily. Show of hands for how many are aware of what the Germans and French foisted on Greece vis a vis defense contracts.
Actually, I did read your posts. And, I have read most of the bible, it is a tiring read. And, the bible was written by man, not god. Therefore, I would see the self-fulfilling prophecy you describe as the writer wanting to eliminate a story flaw. The only relevant portion of the bible is the new testament. I think there might be a few jews who would disagree.
Most of my comment was based upon your claim that jesus was a socialist,as if that were a good thing. I don't believe he was. From what I have read, and maybe you have read more, jesus expected man to do for himself. That is not socialistic. He believed that man should take care of himself and his own first , but be charitable to others. Socialism is a welfare state and has nothing to do with true charity, other than the government being in charge of who receives the charity. Unless I am mistaken, which I could be, jesus was actually against the government.
Riiiiiight because I guess when it involves Obama it's okay or they were Muslims it would be okay, but three white AMERICAN terrorists!?! So damn harsh their punishments.

Jesus came to the earth to die for our sins and to save the world. No one is “too wrapped up on gays”, that is a figment of your imagination. If anything, I would think that gays are too wrapped up on being gay and wanting the world to know it. News Flash, we don’t care!
Your comments lead me to believe that you are gay, however that doesn’t mean that I judge you for your lifestyle choices. That’s not my job or anyone else’s in the church. You are welcome in my church anytime!
When I read the story it read the suspects had been both arrested and charged.
So whatever the alleged shortcomings of the National Defense Authorization Act, they are not relevant to this case.
@dman,
They appear pretty detained to me. Or are you emphasizing the fact that there is some solace that they were actually charged, even though it appears that the evidence was fabricated.
Yeah, I can see you’re a real freedom lover. (Sarcasm intended, considering your asinine comment, you most likely lack the intellect to realize that I’m not actually in agreement with you. So I felt this disclaimer was necessary.)
They aren't kids. It is highly unlikely that they traveled to Chicago to make beer. They are obviously in town to cause trouble. Before 911 they would be charged with plotting arson and murder. But now we just call them terrorists instead. In any case, they should be locked away where they can never hurt anyone. We have such a place in Cuba.
They look very mean. And very dangerous.
Lock em up. Throw away the key.
I wonder if they were trained by Bill Ayers.
If you gave all three a IQ test, and then added all their scores together, you would be lucky to ge a score of moron.
wow america is one nazi country. terriosm charges? what have they even done? the only terriost here is those who put those charges on them.
What a bunch of whining, hysterical dweebs. Oh my My rights are being violated - you morons - not one of you has ever read the Constitution of the United States or the Bill of Rights to even have a clue of what your rights truly are - take a course on constitutional law to truly understand your rights and the limitations the Constitution has also placed on the rights. Also understand what makes the Constitution of the United States the most remarkable document in the world is that our forefathers understood that overtime our society would change over time and our form of government had to be adaptable to those changes so with foresight they created the means to allow our Constitution to change with the consent of the people through a direct vote on a constitutional amendment or through our elected officials. All your rights are protected, they remain in tact - what has changed our threats we face as a nation, a society and as a people.
Protesters need to change tactics. Better to organize politically and get different people in office. Protesting is getting risky. I wouldn't doubt they entrapped these kids. And they are changing laws as I write this.
Educating the public and gaining real political support, is the answer to real change.
I agree. Educate and get out the vote. I'm amazed at how many people will tell you that they are voting for this candidate or that one and you ask them what the biggest issue is for them and they go blank. I see it a lot. Especially at protests. A reporter will ask an individual what exactly it is they are after and they will look at the person next to them for help with an answer.

Unfortunately, you are right when considering a good number of protesters, voters, and even law enforcement. Yet this applies to Tea Party, Obama Supporters, Bush 1 & 2 supporters, Clinton supporters, Government Officials...
notsojingo
My opinion is not party specific. In fact, it was directed at people who are. The will back a certain party and when asked for specifics, that is when they draw the blank. It's called blind faith.
Freedom4Everyone - good point. Knowledge is power. Your ignorance is their strength. Unfortunately, our schools have turned into indoctrination centers. Tom Heydon was one of the Chicago 7 in 1968 (along with Abby Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Bobby Seals...). He went on to become a California Senator. Or Senate-whore depending on how you look at it. Sad, but a lot of these protestors can't tell you what is stated in the Bill of Rights & most don't even know the original 'Tea Party' was a small band of protestors rebelling against their established government, over oppressive taxes & no representation.

AMERICAN
YOUTH RECOVERY PROGRAM(AYRP)
On the
front lines in work.
On the
front lines in war. An American tradition since 1776.
As minors by law children do not have autonomy
or the right to make decisions on their own for themselves in any known
jurisdiction of the world. Instead their adult masters, including parents,
social workers, teachers, youth workers and others, are vested with that
authority, depending on the circumstances. Some believe that this state of
affairs gives children insufficient control over their own lives and causes
them to be vulnerable. Louis Althusser has gone so far as describe this legal
machinery, as it applies to children, as "repressive state
apparatuses". Researchers have identified children as needing to be
recognized as participants in society whose rights and responsibilities need to
be recognized at all ages.[ Structures such as government policy have been held
by some commentators to mask the ways adults abuse and exploit children. On
this view, children are to be regarded as a minority group towards whom society
needs to reconsider the way it behaves.

Franklin
was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.
Although his schooling ended when he was ten, Franklin was a leading polymath,
author, printer, political theorist, politician, postmaster, scientist, musician, inventor, satirist,
civic activist, statesman, and diplomat. As a scientist, he was a major
figure in the American Enlightenment and the history
of physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity.
He invented the lightning rod, bifocals,
the Franklin stove, a carriage odometer,
and the glass 'harmonica'. He formed both the first
public lending library in America and the first fire

EDUCATION
In
2010, American students rank 17th in education.
More than
$500 billion is spent each year on primary and secondary education. Transporting students to and from school is
a major concern for most school districts. School buses provide the largest
mass transit program in the country; 8.8 billion trips per year. Non-school
transit buses give 5.2 billion trips annually. School start times are computed
with busing in mind. There are often three start times; for elementary, for
middle/junior high, and for high school.

The budget for Texas Department of Family Protection Services (DFPS) is 1.5

On Nov.17,
2007, Senator (GA.) Nancy Schaefer stated in her report " I believe Child

broken almost beyond repair. I am convinced parents and families should be
warned of the dangers. The Department of Child Protective Services, known as
the Department of Family and Children Service (DFCS) in Georgia and other
titles in other states, has become a “protected empire” built on taking
children and separating families for profit, built on tax dollars.

However, the US Supreme Court struck down the law two years later in Hammer v. Dagenhart (1918), declaring that the law violated
a child's right to contract his or her own labor.

WTF does this have to do with molotov cocktails vs home brewed beer? Sounds more like OSW anarchist doo doo. Try to saty with the program, as your wonderful "manifesto" just spouts your reasoning for ???
Does this mean REPUBLICANS are now considered torrorist and a threat to all America?
I expect Prez Obama and Mayor Emmanual to get this incident under control and stop this madness. I am a law abiding elder who demonstrates peacefully and expects this "SS" gestapo surveillance and unecessary arrests of Amercians to end now!
The powers-that-be are doing everything to denigrate and disintergrate the Occupy movement in this country. Since when does peaceful demonstration = brutalizing and arresting Americans on cooked-up charges? My vote will definitely count and I can easily go the other way and urge others to do too! Step up, Obama!
I would say planning to set policemen on fire is more than "cooked up" charges.
What would you be saying if these three weren't discovered and carried out their plan?
Election Fraud is the other problem that needs immediately to be addressed. It has happened in every state that has already voted for the 2012 GOP. Every state.
The integrity of our voting process is of the utmost importance. If we do not have the ballot box, then what avenues for changing our government do we have left? Unfortunately, the integrity of our elections has been called into question quite a few times in recent years, and now a Spanish company known as Scytl will be involved in reporting election results for hundreds of jurisdictions across the United States this upcoming election day. Will those election results be accurate?
It is absolutely amazing that a foreign company has been able to gain such control over the reporting of election results in the United States without it ever making a significant splash in the mainstream media.
Well, the story starts with a company called SOE Software, founded in 2002 and it's been involved in reporting election results in 25 U.S. states....
Founded in 2002, SOE Software (SOE) has been working in 25 states to provide election management tools that include online pollworker training and election night reporting solutions to over 900 state and local election jurisdictions.
SOE Software was purchased by a company based in Barcelona, Spain known as Scytl earlier this year. This combination of the two companies has produced a giant firm. Scytl now has a dominant market position in the election software market....
With the acquisition of SOE Software, Scytl is now the industry leader in the election software market with a full range of solutions that cover the whole election process and include secure online ballot delivery, Internet voting, electronic pollbooks, election night reporting, and online pollworker training.
Scytl will be involved in reporting election results in more U.S. jurisdictions than any other company.
In fact, the new combined company will be involved in reporting the election results in 30 U.S. states.... The combined organization is the largest pure election software company in the United States and will be serving customers in over 1,100 jurisdictions in 30 states, including 15 state-wide customers.
So exactly how does all of this work? Why should we be concerned about what Scytl does with our votes?
Bev Harris of blackboxvoting.org has studied voting systems in the United States extensively. According to her, the combination of SOE Software and Scytl is going to make it much more difficult for observers to independently verify the integrity of the voting results in many jurisdictions. The following is an extended excerpt from a recent article by Bev Harris. It is a bit technical but it does a great job of breaking down how things have changed now that Scytl has acquired SOE Software....
In a major step towards global centralization of election processes, the world’s dominant Internet voting company has purchased the USA’s dominant election results reporting company.
When you view your local or state election results on the Internet, on portals which often appear to be owned by the county elections division, in over 525 US jurisdictions you are actually redirected to a private corporate site controlled by SOE software, which operates under the name ClarityElections.com.
The good news is that this firm promptly reports precinct-level detail in downloadable spreadsheet format. As reported by BlackBoxVoting.org in 2008, the bad news is that this centralizes one middleman access point for over 525 jurisdictions in AL, AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, KY, MI, KS, IL, IN, NC, NM, MN, NY, SC, TX, UT, WA. And growing.
As local election results funnel through SOE’s servers (typically before they reach the public elsewhere), those who run the computer servers for SOE essentially get “first look” at results and the ability to immediately and privately examine vote details throughout the USA.
In 2004, many Americans were justifiably concerned when, days before the presidential election, Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell redirected Ohio election night results through the Tennessee-based server for several national Republican Party operations.
This is worse: This redirects results reporting to a centralized privately held server which is not just for Ohio, but national; not just USA-based, but global.
A mitigation against fraud by SOE insiders has been the separation of voting machine systems from the SOE results reports. Because most US jurisdictions require posting evidence of results from each voting machine at the precinct, public citizens can organize to examine these results to compare with SOE results. Black Box Voting spearheaded a national citizen action to videotape / photograph these poll tapes in 2008.
With the merger of SOE and SCYTL, that won’t work (if SCYTL’s voting system is used). When there are two truly independent sources of information, the public can perform its own “audit” by matching one number against the other.
These two independent sources, however, will now be merged into one single source: an Internet voting system controlled by SCYTL, with a results reporting system also controlled by SCYTL.
With SCYTL internet voting, there will be no ballots. No physical evidence. No chain of custody. No way for the public to authenticate who actually cast the votes, chain of custody, or the count.
So should we trust that whatever election results Scytl gives us are accurate? Of course not. The truth is that there have been all sorts of questions about the integrity of Scytl voting systems.
The following example comes from a recent article posted on westernjournalism.com.... The American advocacy group Project Vote has concluded that SCYTL’s internet voting system is vulnerable to attack from the outside AND the inside, a situation which could result in '…an election that does not accurately reflect the will of the voters…' Talk about having a flair for understatement!
There have also been very serious questions about SOE Software. Bev Harris of blackboxvoting.org says that there have been major problems with SOE Software election results in the past....
In Broward County FL, the results reported by Scytl-owned SOE Software in 2008 showed an entire candidate, who was winning, disappear into vapor in the middle of the count, and in Hillsborough County FL and Dallas County TX, votes that had been reported began to disappear.
So now we have a combination of SOE Software and Scytl. Considering the questions that have surrounded both firms in the past, it is easy to see why so many voting activists are deeply concerned.
In any event, it is deeply troubling that a Spanish company will have control over the reporting of election results from hundreds of jurisdictions in the United States on election day.
Hopefully there will be no problems and the election results will be 100% honest and accurate. But what if they are not? This article first appeared here at the American Dream. Michael Snyder is a writer
Knowing that former Goldman Sachs veterans have an ownership interest in a foreign company that tabulates votes in the United States is very alarming to any American who is concerned about open and transparent elections! Former Goldman veterans own and control Scytl. Scytl is owned and controlled by a venture capital firm, Balderton, a venture capital firm that is run by Goldman Sachs veterans Tim Bunting and Mark Evans.
With Scytl is in a unique position to not only control and tabulate the votes of U.S elections (in a foreign country, separate from U.S. law and oversight), but also to control e-polls as well.
With the purchase of SOE Software, meanwhile, SCYTL has increased its involvement in the U.S. elections process. SOE Software boasts a strong U.S. presence, providing results in over 900 jurisdictions.
In 2009, SCYTL formally registered with the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (AEC) as the first Internet voting manufacturer in the U.S. under the EAC Voting System Testing and Certification Program.
Also that year, SCYTL entered into an agreement with another firm, Hart InterCivic, to jointly market a flexible and secure electronic pollbook purportedly to allow U.S. election officials and poll-workers to easily manage the electoral roll on Election Day in an efficient and convenient manner.
SCYTL’s ePollBookTM already replaced the paper precinct roster in Washington, DC.
During the midterm elections in November 2010, SCYTL successfully carried out electoral modernization projects in 14 States. The company boasted that a “great variety” of SCYTL’s technologies were involved in these projects, including an online platform for the delivery of blank ballots to overseas voters, an Internet voting platform and e-pollbook software to manage the electoral roll at the polling stations.
The states that used SCYTL’s technologies during the Midterms were New York, Texas, Washington, California, Florida, Alabama, Missouri, Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nebraska, West Virginia and Washington DC.
Just prior to the midterm’s however, the new electronic voting system in Washington, DC was hacked. As a program security trial, the D.C. Board of Elections & Ethics reportedly encouraged outside parties to hack and find flaws in its new online balloting system. A group of University of Michigan students then hacked into the site and commanded it to play the University of Michigan fight song upon casting a vote.
This is not the first time SCYTL’S systems have been called into question - Voter Action, an advocacy group that seeks elections integrity in the U.S., sent a lengthy complaint to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission in April 2010 charging the integration of SCYTL systems “raises national security concerns.”
“Foreign governments may also seek to undermine the national security interests of the United States, either directly or through other organizations,” Voter Action charged.
Project Vote noted that in 2008, the Florida Department of State commissioned a review of SCYTL’s remote voting software and concluded, in part, that:
The software could lead to:
voters being unable to cast votes;
an election that does not accurately reflect the will of the voters; and
possible disclosure of confidential information, such as the votes cast by individual voters. The system may be subject to attacks that could compromise the integrity of the votes cast.
It's worse than you think. Anyone who reads foreign papers or see foreign media knows the US elections are as important to them as if they had "invested" in the campaign...The presidency is now open to the highest bidder in any foreign country thanks to the Supreme Court decision.
direction most likely supplied by the "cops" which infiltraited them. Most likely they started out with plans to protest but agin those "cops" helped convince them that that would not be enough, instead giving them the ideas on how to make the protest more effective. This is becoming more and more commonn where "cops" are entraping people by convincing them to do things they were not planning on, supplying them with the directions and resources to do this, then trying to tell the public how great a job they did stoping all these dangerous people when it is so many of the "cops" that are truly the dangerous people.
So let me get this right? So because they were going to protest it automatically makes them occupiers?? The teaparty guys (who had guns hanging from their hips) werent?? There is alot of here-say and speculation now days about anyone who protests..it doesnt mean everyone is protesting the same cause. There was no doubt the tea party people were packing heat so why werent they accused of being terrorists?? Their guns were in plain sight and they even wanted to carry them into where the president was...or did you forget that? I would say the Republicans are certainly trying to set a double standard. There is a right to protest in this country and there are some who are trying to exercise their own agenda but it doesnt automatically make them occupy protestors.
Listen... I am sick of this irresponsible reporting...if the media wants to excercise "freedom of the press" then they should do so and not be so "bought off"...The media needs to start being more neutral and honest in their reporting. I am sick of these phoney talking heads. I can read the BBC news and get more information about the USA then I get here. Yeah the big money guys own most of the media companies now days but it is the responsibility of the reporters to quit being so bias and do their jobs correctly or get out of the business and give it to someone who will do it right. We need to really get money out of our news reporting and out of politics. The supreme court is at fault for all of this with citizens united and I blame them for selling us all out. They are traitors if you ask me. They have allowed our country to be bought off... just like afew of them. I say impeach afew of them ....starting with Thomas
These three guys—Hummmm don't look all that intelligent to even take a bath. According to this article this so called plan sounds a little pushy for just three man boys. Their tools of the trade? I had the same things I bought as collector's items with the exception of the Gun that fires motor rounds. Something fishy about this story, especially since its Chicago where the mentality isn't all that good.
Pouring gas in a bottle was practiced for many years when we were kids because we didn't have gas cans so we put gas in anything-- something is wrong with this entire story..
Yup - the cops have nothing better to do than find a bunch of admitted anarchists that have already traveled to London to incite violence - just to frame them. Please move your tin-foil hats - the sun is reflecting off them and overheating your brains.
The reality is that these dudes have already admitted to being part of a terrorist organization that has struck on 2 continents. That you fools would defend them is amazing. And you fools would be the ones screaming the loudest about the incompetence of Homeland Security if they would have struck in Chicago.
You don't get it both ways - both being safe from terrorists and complaining about the actions keeping you safe. If you want security, why are you complaining when the terrorists get arrested with the devices of terror in their possession. If you support the terrorists - this explains a lot about your postings.
Hmm.....I don't know. Give Dr. King a call I'm sure he can answer that.
Beer making is legal. The crime here would be the effort by so-called authorities to set these boys up by sending in cop guys with cocktails. Are the cops trying to get some action in order to justify their existence?
Sounds to me like a LOT of people here agree . . . were heading for Police State . . . not what America is all about. The Question is how long will it be before all hell does break out. The Government has been infringing on our Constitutional Rights for years. There may have to be another Boston Tea party and the real patriots will call a spade a spade. Also why are the first blogs deleted???? Guess we can't talk about this kind of stuff in a Free Society anymore. By the way, I happen to be pro law and order and on the team.
How do you spot the FBI informant at your political meeting?
He's the guy who ALWAYS advocates violent actions. IF I'M ever approached by someone like that, I'll just tell them them to give me the money and I'll find what I need from DOD salvage auctions. Then I'll drop a dime on 'em to the DHS to see if I can get some competing government beuraucracies' stings going.
@idiot observer,
You mean keeping us safe from the fabricated terrorists and their co-conspirator Easter bunny clan of cohorts? You really took a big gulp of the cool-aid, didn’t you?
I have seen no real evidence of an actual terrorist planned attack in this country since Oklahoma City and in my opinion the government got what it deserved.
You’re right about one thing though, we want security, but not from the terrorist, we want security from this out of control fascist government.
A lot of home made beer tastes like gasoline I understand the confusion, beer muscles come out, pie holes start flapping, next thing you know it's "hey, the man sucks, lets throw this crappy batch of beer at them it gives me gas" and slammer time for the boys. Entirely a misunderstanding, smart looking crew like this.
Ingredients for their special micro brewery brand of beer.
I wouldn't believe what the cops say, what they wrote in their books, and I would have to see the video of evidence to see if it isn't doctored and photoshopped.
A bunch of losers want to play terrorist and got caught - stupid is as stupid does. Control your whining and hysteria - your rights have not been violated -- lord as if you collective morons even had a clue what the Constitution and Bill of Rights actually does say or what your rights are and what constitutional limits there are on those rights. Look folks its not illegal to be ignorant and stupid though lord knows there should be a law to prevent you morons from voting and exercising those "Rights". Perhaps an exorcism is called for to exercise the stupid out of you morons.
This is our government using the new laws to continue it's bringing about the Police State promised in both 1984 and A Brave New World. People need to wake up and realize what's taking place here! The "Conspiracy Theory" of the New World Order is no longer "Theory", it's now reality.
I agree, but I'm afraid it's already too late.
I strongly feel civel war mite be our only option but it scares me to think of it
Civil war?????? Who against who? You realize these types of laws have been on the books for about a decade now, no?
If nothing else, maybe some people will wake up from their deep slumber and realize our freedoms have been under attack for a long time now. Maybe people will take a good hard look at the Patriot Act understand what the implications are.
This isn't a "Right" or "Left" issue; this is an American issue. It's time we stop this talk about civil war and devisiveness are realize we really have a common purpose.
It has been reality for thirty years. Has nothing to do with our government, but everything to do with American capitalism.
"The police are not here to create disorder; they are here to preserve disorder." --Richard Daly (mayor of Chicago, 1968)
By the way, what is a "NATO sumnmit"?
jimsepa good question who aginst who?and i agree its an american issue I'v known for 35 years this is where we would be take a little freedom at a time and hope no one will notice and when thay do call them a traitor or terrorist and lock them up yup we are free
All excellent points. We all have different opinions, but nothing gets accomplished by fighting amongst ourselves - that's what United means. And big changes are brought about by those who show up. Give the protestors that. Protestors of old ended the draft, brought the voting age down to 18 (still don't know if these points are good or bad), gave women equal rights & a right to some control over their own bodies. The only thing that can destroy me is me. And if America falls - it will be by her own actions. Are there some that still believe our own gov't. was NOT complicit in 9/11. Do some still think that our myriad of tax supported security agencies 'coincidentally' all dropped the ball at the same time a day after Don Rrumsfeld admitted that the gov't. can't seem to find umpteen billion dollars? Those acts of an Arab God have a way of stickin it in & twisting it every time.
This article just means that the GOP / REPUBLICANS are a criminal terrorist activity ?
The REPUBLICAN PARTY is now the new type of terrorism in America today.
Throughout history, how often military sides with the poor? Rarely, the police is there to protect the interest of those in power and to bring order to those who goes against it.
It's what happened for thousands of years and will continue to be so for far into the future.
We have the right to violently protest and destroy property - where does the constitution say that?
@freedom_monger, "I strongly feel civel war mite be our only option but it scares me to think of it"
N "civil war". But the defense of our nation, Our Constitution, Our way of life from the domestic enemies working to destroy it, yes. The problem we are having is we voted in domestic enemies of the USA into positions of power within our government, and have not fired them, or prosecuted them.
"Domestic enemies pursue legislation, programs against the powers of the US Constitution. They work on destroying and weakening the Rights of the People guaranteed by the Constitution. Plus they create laws, amendments, etc that goes against the restraint on the three branches of our government by the Constitution".
@ jimsepa, "You realize these types of laws have been on the books for about a decade now, no?"
There is no time limit on acts made to weaken or destroy the US Constitution. Like murder, those who still live and were domestic enemies of the USA can be and should be prosecuted.
As Thomas Jefferson said, "... “that a federal “law” that violates the Constitution is no law at all. It is “void and of no effect.”
The Constitution grants our government certain LIMITED specified powers. It makes clear those certain government limitations, to better protect the liberties of the people. The preamble to the Bill of Rights clarifies its purpose. The Bill of Rights sets limits on the federal government, making clear it has no power to infringe on rights we already naturally possess, or limit traditionally held privileges, such as trial by jury.
Examples:
First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
The six protections the first amendment lists against government encroachment are:
1. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion
2. Congress shall make no law prohibiting the exercise of religion
3. Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech
4. Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of the press
5. Congress shall make no law abridging the right of the people peacefully to assemble
6. Congress shall make no law abridging the right to petition the government for a redress of grievance.
The Fourth Amendment has two governmental limitations stated in it.
1. The citizens are to be secure in their person, home, papers, and property, from unreasonable searches and seizure. In other words the People have the privacy to go about their lives without worrying whether the government will invade them.
(This amendment was to ensure that the government does not trespass on the people nor take anything from the people without following correct legal procedure.)
2. The government is restrained from taking either person or property without first getting a warrant, and only after proving probable cause.
(This is only as valid as the judge is honest. There have been numerous cases in which judges have signed blank warrants, and the details are not filled in until after serving the warrant.)
Again, these amendments are a limitation on those serving within the three branches of our government to ensure that they do not trespass beyond their enumerated (listed and assigned) powers.
Okay, let's take presidential (executive) powers: "Executive Orders" are the use of the presidential office to pass law, legislation. Much the same as kings do when they announce a proclamation. I believe most Americans know that the USA does not have a monarchy, divine ruler, king, or magistrate in which we vest that power.
The US Constitution assigned to Congress that power, it is the only US governmental body that has legislative power. Article one states, “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress...” Notice the leading word, "ALL" which leaves little room for interpretation. It does not mean most legislation and it does not mean all legislation except what the President may have a whim to pass, it means all legislation.
Black’s Law Dictionary, Seventh Edition describes legislation as:
"1. The process of making or enacting a positive law in written form, according to some type of formal procedure, by a branch of government constituted to perform this process."
If Congress is the only branch of government “constituted to perform this process,” then the executive branch is prohibited from do so.
(A good place to learn about the Constitution, and a good book about it if anyone is interested is - book - "Constitution Denied" By Michael LeMieux. "mite"? we're doomed
Hello dolts. These were Black Bloc, not republicans. Black bloc supports liberal agendas.
Knine, "There is no time limit on acts made to weaken or destroy the US Constitution." I couldn't agree with you more but you missed my point completely. Over ten years ago, some of us were yelling at the top of our lungs that our constitutional rights were being trampled upon. We were labeled "un-patriotic" or "un-american" when we simply questioned the validity of warrantless wiretaps or ignoring habeas corpus (for example). We've lived through this nonsense for too long for some people to be just waking up to our current reality.
Those showing outrage only now are a decade too late.
With Obama we are going to loose our freedom. He has to be voted out at the next Election.
We began losing our freedoms under the Patriot Act passed under George Bush...
What freedoms have you lost in the last 4 years? You are still free to spew political rhetoric obviously....
We need to unite to fight this and put political differences on the back burner.
It's easy for me since I really don't care or trust either party anymore. : )
Same here Rockyroed and anay boudy that does has been led astray
Hey stupid, every time you vote for a republican, every time you loose more freedom !!
Remember the patriot act ???? Have you read it ???? it was created by the same people you keep voting for, you idiot !
VOTE DEMOCRATS IN !
lookatmycastle
Stupid is as Stupid does. With your statement, I would say you are the epitome of that word. No need to berate someone because you disagree - that is what debate is about - facts and countering with facts. Opinions are like a....... everyone has one!
Don't you see that democrats or republicans are the same head of the snake. They all have to go. Vote out all incumbants. Quit voting these criminals back into office. Yes Bush/Cheney should be in a jail cell, but Obama is a fraud and should be tried for treason and dealt with according to the constitution, along with Holder and Panetta. The terrorists are in DC. If Obama wins the election it is because the voting was rigged.
Obama signed for the continuation of the Patriot act and signed the National Defense Authorization act so he did the same as Bush and more. We have to vote out anyone in support of these acts regardless of party affiliation. Today's republican party is a big government party. The Democrats are mostly socialists anymore. We have to look past party and vote for candidates who believe in the Constitution.
Bush and Obama are the same, both puppets of their master$. The same goes for both partie$ using divisive politics to distract and confuse their lemmings. They all laugh while fine dining and drinking wine together on our dollar behind closed doors.
Corptocracy knows no limits to greed as our debt continues to kick our butts with the USS Titanic headed for the inevitable iceberg.
Please stay with Gandhi and MLK's teachings and be non-violent.
Obamaa did not veto NDAA, which is what the cops are 'using' (Despite it being blocked in court atm) to keep these 'terrorists' chained up with no miranda rights.
The easiest thing to do would simply to keep the powers of the Patriot act and NDAA restricted to federal level investigators, such as FBI, CIA, ect. Not ordinary thugs, ahem, I mean, the police.
This article just means that the only real threat to America is the REPUBLICIAN PARTY as the new brand of terrorism.
Got a really good one for the tight butted out there. If you are Hispanic, African American or Middle Eastern, NY cops can stop and frisk you even if you are a citizen and just getting on a subway and have nothing in your pockets. Still think you haven't lost your constitutional rights? Wait...it gets better...Now, Bloomberg is demanding anyone on welfare be fingerprinted like common criminals. As he said, "well, you are fingerprinted for your jobs and have to provide ID when you vote..." So old Billionaire Bloomy is going to demand all Americans be fingerprinted in violation of their Constitutional, human and civil rights to privacy should he become president? Which as we now know isn't a problem to buy the presidency when you're a billionaire. Of course, Charles and David Koch will give him competition and maybe even Norquist.
Everyone spewing their Republican/Democrat stuff needs to stop it.
We may have had the Patriot act under GWB, but we have the National Defense Authorization Act under Obama. That one legalizes the killing of American citizens without so much as a judge or jury.
The entire bit about parties is a question of which yoke does the slave wish to wear. And which master do you want to kiss a** to. Both of them seek nothing more to impose their own form of tyranny be it from the left or right onto the public.
Of course as long as the tax cows continue to fight among themselves, the tax farmers are completely safe. Especially if it's over such petty crap as weither their slave collar lists a capital D or capital R.
I don't understand why people keep bringing up NDAA 2012. When I read it, I found nothing whatsoever that abrogated any american citizens right to a speedy trial. It's a funding authorization bill. It authorizes funding for things like extra money so the Navy can purchase products from small businesses owned by women, instead of spending less to buy the same thing from giant corporations. It authorizes spending to build military depots and bases, we probably don't need. It authorizes funding for detention and military tribunals for foreign detainees who are members or supporters of Al Qaida, and to transport them anywhere except the US when we're done with them. There is no mention any where in the bill about anything to do with detention of US citizens.
Some right wing whack-jobs decided that the part about supporters of Al-Qaida, was intended to be applied to US citizens, but their reading comprehension level was too low to keep them from taking it out of context. If you read the whole paragraph, it is clearly applies to foreigners. It isn't concerned with funding for dealing with US citizens who are arrested for terrorism, because we already have a funded legal and justice system in place for that.
I assume that any one who falls for the detention of US citizens BS that keeps being spouted about this bill, was too lazy to read it, or unable to comprehend it. They are just going along with some lie they heard from somebody else.
Actually it sounds as if you have not read the NDAA, or did not comprehend it. If nothing else, then Obama's "signing statement" would have told you that that "power" was put into the NDAA.
"... Moreover, I want to clarify that my Administration will not authorize the indefinite military detention without trial of American citizens. Indeed, I believe that doing so would break with our most important traditions and values as a Nation. My Administration will interpret section 1021 in a manner that ensures that any detention it authorizes complies with the Constitution, the laws of war, and all other applicable law."
Yep, Obama gave his word that he will NOT use it on US citizens, of course his "signing statement" is NOT law. Also, he did previously give his word to all of America that he would "VETO the NDAA if the provision to indefinitely detain American citizens and those legally allowed to be here was not removed"; while behind our backs he and his administration were actually fighting to have that "power" put INTO the NDAA.
That is called a "lie".
"Amidst all of the controversy surrounding the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Obama, and his administration, attempted to paint itself as an oppositional force against the bill, threatening to veto it if it passed. However Senator Carl Levin, D-Mich, co-author of the bill, says that the Obama administration in fact heavily lobbied to have removed from the bill's language that would have protected American citizens from some of the bill's provisions, such as indefinite detention without trial."
"The bill is in two sections, one "sounds" more benign .. the other is a direct assault on us, our freedoms, our liberty's. But Woods contends that the President is not opposed to the indefinite detention of American citizens without due process."
"... , lawyers for the Obama administration confirmed that, in their view, that U.S. citizens are in fact legitimate military targets."
Just for your information and clarification.
There's a lot of talk about "Left" and "Right" and how it doesn't matter. Instead I'm seeing lots of appeals to nationalism and invocations of the constitution as if it were holy writ. The constitution is an antiquated document written by wealthy, white slaveowners. We could probably do with an entirely new program. Everyone must understand that capitalism is a right-wing ideology. Left is synonymous with some form or school of socialism. The democrats are NOT socialists, they are moderate conservatives at best, completely devoted to the economic and imperialist status quo. All these politicians come from or else serve the middle and upper classes - the bourgeoisie. Most of the country is composed of the working class or proletariat (at least 80%), including the poor. This class must unite to fight against the wealthy ruling class and their bootlickers.
Let's get it together! You've only been hearing one side of the story. Get the other side by reading Albert Einstein's wonderful essay entitled, "Why Socialism?" You can easily find it online. Decide for yourself where you really stand.
Einstein was a brilliant physicist; that doesn't mean that his economic ideas are correct. Henry Ford was a brilliant engineer and industrialist but socially he was a Neanderthal. If I wanted a casino built I might turn to Donald Trump but I don't want him making social policy either. You are obviously one of those people who think that the reason that socialism has failed is that the wrong people have always been in charge up until now. The real reason is that it is based on how people ought to be but not how they really are. I should care as much about you, your kids, your family and friends as I do mine, but I don't and I won't. That is not going to change, either. I will pay small amounts to help you and yours, but am not altruistic enough to do whatever is needed to help you. Until most people are (never), true socialism will never work.
Stop Picking on Obama, yes he's a puppet but he's not the first and didn't start this mess only allowed it to continue. I agree everyone should be Politically charged rather than thinking out loud, which is what they are really being charged with.
The new wave of terrorism is now coming from the REPUBLICIAN PARTY.
Both parties suck get some new material
Get Ready folks, Already Plans exists to bring chaos to the American streets, Your Government is about to turn against you. Soon these type of events will occur more and more right here in USA. They will be based on lies. The Race war is about to begin, Brought to you by MSM and Corporate Government cronies. This I say, "Stand strong, Don't give into the Hate or Fear. Rise above it."
FEAR is false evidence appearing real
Molotov cocktails inevitably make their appearance during protests against tyrannical, intolerant governments. If the Repugnicans gain power in November, you can expect a lot more of this.
My Goodness, all you conspiracy theorists have got it down pat! If it was beer making equipment with bottles that had an amber liquid in it, perhaps this was Chicago Police version of the movie "The Night They Raided Minskys".
Why don't we wait until all of the evidence is in? Their ages, 20, 24 & 24 seems appropriate for those that are intrigued with making their own "special brewed beer", as it is quite common now.
No ,he/she is an optomist!!!!!!!!
optimist before the grammer police jump on me lol
Really?-1739510 It started with the Patriot Act under Bush. You must have forgotten. You probably think Romney would be good or something. But I know you stand by what you say, whatever it was.
The police.
To protect and serve.
Who?
Rockyroad them not us its all so plain to see if you look somthing tells me you know all ready
You mean we should replace a Democran with a Rebublicrat?
They are two wing of the same bird and they don't work for us.
Rockyroad,,,If you remember last year the Supreme Court issued a ruling that " The Police are under NO OBLIGATION to protect the Citizens.. Their job is to ENFORCE THE LAW and protect PUBLIC PROPERTY which also include Politicians.....So the majority of Departments around the Nation removed the Protect & Serve decals from their Police Cars....Also the Obama Administration through various Bills and Amendments being passed by the Demoncrat controlled Congress has been quietly creating a National Police Force...or as we are calling them "The Stasi"...
An example would be the newly created this week Office of Police Officer Fatalities and Injuries Office within the FBI..Now one would think that the FBI should keep these Statistics and such..But they already do and have for over 80 years...What this Office does is provides a Person or Persons who have direct communication with every Police agency in the Country via the newly created and mostly Federally funded 800 Mg. system... Now why would the FBI need such a link up? Especially since they already obtain that information in monthly reports from the Police Agencies around the Country....It has NO Public Value for the average Citizen,,so why was it created......Stasi.....
Democrat controlled congress? not arguing against your other info but saying its a democrat controlled congress is absolutely wrong...if it was Obama would be having his way alot easier than he has been. Its BOTh parties that have turned their back on us, and Republicans are certainly the number 1 party that is seeking to strip our freedoms, while there is maybe a couple Repubs that are loyal to the citizens, there are more Dems who are loyal to the people, but not enough to change the way the system is now. Democrat controlled congress? certainly not
Democrat controlled congress? since when? not since Obama has been in office. . .your other info is fine have no problem with that but to lay the blame on dems is ridiculous, there are more dems in office who are loyal to the PEOPLE (which has somehow been labeled socialism) than there are republicans (though there are a couple), however there arn't enough in either party to change the system and bring it back to its foundations (will never happen, we gotta figure out a new system). party politics is meant to divide the people and it works quite well, (not sure you've been paying attention to congress past 3 years, Repubs are the majority and they are certainly the party who are pushing to speed the process of the corporate take over and dissolution of our bill of rights and constitution, while democrats roll over and (willingly) allow it, seperated and celebrated (part of the plan)
Roberts -
Then what do you consider democrat majorities in Congress? If the democrats were not in control of Congress at the time, why was Pelosi the Speaker of the House? Why is Reid in control of the Senate to this day?
How did Obamacare get 'passed' if the democrats were not in 'control' of Congress when republicans did not vote for the travesty? What about the so-called 'financial reform' that was sponsored by Frank and Dodd - the 2 democrats most responsible for the failure of Freddie and Fannie?
I would love to know what is in that kool-aid you're drinking, because not believing that the democrats have not been in control of Congress (actually, in charge of Congress 75% of the time since WWII) is ludicrous!
Obviously you dont understand how the government works. Ever heard of a super majority? The Dems dont have one. the GOP has abused filibustering throughout Obama's term.
"Obama care was passed via reconciliation rules, the same used by the GOP in order to keep their illegal war going so as to not have to admit supporting war profiteers like total morons. that "travesty" has 31 more people covered. Health insurance industry should be run out of business anyway.
and Fannie and Freddie nor Frank and Dodd were hardly the cause of the economy crashing, you can thank the greed from the PRIVATE market business leaders and Wall Street "investors" and their cronies in the GOP for that.
bomb? here we go again!
1886 a bomb exploded in Chicago during a labor rally, a labor activist was sentenced to die without any evidence. The entire world thus has commemorated May Day as their labor Day except the US
The Haymarket Massacre has had more infamy than Al Capoon. The crime has never been solved
Chuck,
So, you side-stepped the question instead of answering it, didn't you?
They used 'reconciliation' rules on a non-budgetary bill - against their own rules at the time, by the way - to pass Obamacare because it was so distasteful to even democrats that they could not pass it any other way.
This was a decision of the democrats - especially Reid, Pelosi, and Obama - to not allow the minority party any say in the matter.
The democrats were clearly in control, you have no proof otherwise!
From Jan of 2007 to Jan. 2011 dems controlled both house and senate.
Tammy,
Although the elected Senators gave the Senate Democrat majority, due to the death of one Senator (did you forget Edward Kennedy died very shortly after the 2008 electionand was ultimately replaced by a Republican), the contested election of another, and the corruption of appointment by the IL governor of yet a third, they merely had the majority in numbers only, not bodies able to vote within the Senate Chamber. Pelosi became the Speaker because the Democrats had the elected officials to be the majority, yet through death, voter challenge and IL political corruption, the Democratic bodies needed to vote with the Democratic majority Senate were NOT present and the Republicans took full advantage of that.
That is how the republicans got away with continuing to filibuster most legislation. Although there were 60 democratic Senators elected, for the first 2 years, there were NOT 60 Democratic bodies in those seats to stop any filerbusting by the Republican party of "NO".
Bad acts by a bunch of spring loaded stupid young kids. Yet I fear more what appears to be the over reach of the government using the so called Terrorism Laws. Does this make them eligible for a trip to Club Gitmo? Shiver me timbers.
Molotov cocktail? It was beer making equipment - they're currently brewing India Pale ale and a stout.
It's always the few radicals that ruin for all other protesters, we have seen it in Seattle anarchist's that want to send what message, We don't know but they sure put a negative message out there! They just want to cause havoc!
There a lot of people that just want to say, we have had enough Corporate money buying and owning our government! Since the SCOTUS actually says Corp's are people too, we are waiting for the live birth certificates for them. I mean please, the American people are not dumb, well most of us are not! But this is out of control!
Hummingbird?
Don't you think a few radical police can make up any story they want to arrest the demonstrators?
Please keep America FREE!
And don't you think that arresting 3 out of thousands isn't going to stop the thousands from demonstrating?
Doesn't anyone recall before the 2004 election how half of NY had to be roped off ffor miles around the RNC headquarters so TV cameras wouldn't show the slew of protestors out there? And wasn't it just sooooo grand when those 90-year old Grandmothers got arrested for protesting in 2007?
Republicans are not above putting a few of their best subversives in a crowd so they can smear what protestors are protesting. Go ahead, Repubbos...let's hear you fatheads deny that one.
Of course, the warm, wonderful, and loving Demos will be welcoming the homeless, anarchists and all sorts of other protestors to beautiful Charlotte, N.C. this summer, and providing them with a nuturing environment, much as they did for them in Chicago, Ill., in the summer of 1968 ...
Being a child of a police officer especially during the democratic convention of 1968 I see the same things happening here today in Chicago. Alot of these people on tv are trying really hard to look cool because reporters are on a roof bringing it live to us. I am proud of our peace officers for keeping these jerks in line. Someone said in an earlier post that education is the key not people getting arrested so they can have this claim to fame of being arrested at a Nato summit protest. Get a life.
Somehow the part about the police being bombed with bags of feces and urine before they beat up the protestors in 1968 went largely unreported at the time due to an overwhelming desire by most of the "press" (excepting Paul Harvey, of course) to present all of the protestors, even the anarchists, communist-sympathizers and instigators, as pathetic "victims".
The legal band of thugs called a police force in Chicago once again proves what they are capable of, as they did at the 1968 Democratic convention-things certainly have not changed much in 44 years. These kids were lucky their heads weren't smashed in with night sticks, as it was back then. At a minimum, a good lawyer should be able to clear up the mess in their favor and if they're lucky, and they can prove it was a fabrication, hold some of these uniformed vigilantes accountable. "We're not going to talk about it". It should be the motto of the Chicago PD.
They want to show us who is the boss !!! laws are not for the powerful and rich, laws are made for the rest of us.. so they keep up in shape..
those kids were lucky, they could have got killed by the police.... because the autority won't hesitate to shoot you if you disobey, and if you truely protest... they have done everything to protect themselves agaisnt the population.. they have the military and the police on their side..
I was on Michigan Ave. in front of the Conrad Hilton in 1968. This is NOTHING like 1968. In 1968 the Chicago police went berserk and clubbed anybody and everybody who got near them. The Kerner Commission described it as a "police riot" and so it was. Old man Daley let it be known that protesters were fair game and they were not going to overrun HIS city. It was a war zone. What is happening now is a garden party compared to then. Of course back then there was a meat grinder war going on and there was a draft scooping up thousands of young men (except, of course for the sons of the wealthy and influential who were hiding in National Guard units). Concerns over ultimate death in Southeast Asia tended to concentrate the minds of protestors at that time.
And to think this is happening under Mayor Rahm Emanuel's nose.
The Kerner Commission. Wow, what is more credible than a commission headed by a corrupt Demo ex-governor so crooked he makes a modern Dem like Blogo or Repub like George Ryan look postively honest and irreproachable by comparison? At least the pig died in prison after corrupting the executive and the judicial branches; if he's not in Hell it's only because there is not any such place. Anything that venal @$$WIPE was ever associated with is questionable at best; if his commission found that the primary cause of droughts was a lack of rain then I would want another opinion on it.
They aren't kids. They are all adults. They obviously did not come to Chicago to make beer. They traveled to Chicago to cause trouble. They got caught plotting. Now they need to be taken to Guantanamo.
or take them to a crowded walmart less travel more punishment
Diane, that might be your (and my!) idea of hell-on-earth, but millions of people apparently love it.
LOL, in another news, Chinese blind activist coming to a land of freedom of speech and protest right? Oh, he probably wont care since when he comes, an American job is waiting from him, taken away from some other sucker who is actually a legit American.
An extension of the 'War on Drugs' started by Nixon and Escalated by Reagan. the ATF of Bush I and Clinton, 911 and the 'Patriot Act' of Bush II and the 'National Defence Authorization Act' under Obama. Combine this with a the wall street corpocracy and it becomes apparent that democracy or the republic or whatever you want to call it is dead and the whole election process boils down to a choice between a 'Red' dictator of a 'Blue' dictator.
I don't doubt that these supposed 'terrorists' are guilty, because they are guilty of something, just give the polize enough time.
Rap
Wasn't it Orwell who wrote that in order for politicians to maintain control over the masses, they used police and the military to do it? Scary how close it's coming down to this.
The only police that mattered in Orwell's 1984 were the Thought Police, responsible for the arrest of those found not to be thinking Party thoughts. The military were useful only for keeping the world in a perpetual state of war, which allowed the "leaders" to do whatever they found to be necessary, owing to the (permanent) wartime conditions; it also gave a permanent excuse for the shortages of everything which were really the result of the abandoment of a market economy, which was far too hard for the Party to control.
U.S. fights for "democracy" overseas, but arrests protestors here--double standard--The politicians can't cash
in on this deal.
There's a difference when people peacefully protesting and throwing a bomb, its called your right to assemble and the other is a criminal act and the swings should be locked up for a few years if convicted
John did you read the article? NO bomb was ever there!
They were making beer!
No they do not fight for democracy, they fight for oil and other natural resources ! you're truely naive to believe their lies... they manipulate words to make you believe what ever they ever want you to believe and most of you run for it .. dummies !
Rockyroad,
Did you read the article? They said they were making beer. Or do you believe that everything that anyone says is the truth?
Denver?
So if you have any alcohol in bottles in your home you can be arrested for being suspected of being a terrorist. That could be Molotov cocktail making material!
You are okay with that?
When you say that it was for drinking. Then what?
Rockyroad,
Nice distraction. Of course I'm not OK with that. But back to the subject of the article. Neither of us knows what was seized in that raid. You choose to assume it was innocuous, as the arrestees claim. I do not.
Look...since the 1960's, cops have profiled anyone with long hair. Take a look at the photos of these 3. They absolutely fit the tight butt cops ideas of "long haired radicals". Cops don't shave their heads for safety reasons these days. It's to prove they are the still they "establishment" in charge of bashing heads in of the long hairs they were taught from birth to despise.
We still have diehard 1960's righties in this country who will do anything to bash and put an end to freedom and rights of anyone then think doesn't fit their laundered version of "conservative". Too bad so many "conservatives" are today's biggest crooks and frauds. You can always tell one of these. They hate gays, think women are second in line and walk around with chests pumped as if they were Mr. Universe reincarnate. Some dress in T-shirts and jeans and swaggering while others dress in $1000 suits and $500 Italian shoes all while they are stuffing their bank accounts with everyone else's money. So long as they don't let their hair grow too long or play a musical instrument, they are still certified "establishment conservatives". Yeesh...you'd think they'd have give up by now.
You all can complain about your beliefs that this is a right-wing problem arresting these suspects, but remember Chicago has been run by Democrats since 1923. Democrat mayor, city council, police chiefs, fire chiefs, union leaders, union police departments, everything in the city is democrat controlled. If you put a yard sign out for a republican candidate your house windows get rocks thrown through them, your car tires get slashed and for some reason the service stops picking up your garbage. Republicans have absolutely no input into what happens in Chicago. So, lefties, this is your side coming down like bricks on the protesters. Rahm has to make the city look good for his buddy Barack and he will grind into powder anyone who rocks the boat. Take that to the bank. Besides, this security is being run by the Secret Service (Barack's SS). They are calling all the shots and giving all the directives, and the democrats in Chicago law enforcement are more than happy to comply. There are fighter jets at O'Hare airport, attack helicopters, and enough full automatic weapons available to law enforcement to kill everyone downtown. Any protesters who want to "start a war" will lose.
Open your shades and see if there's a black Suburban with tinted windows out front Tiny.
Not there, are they?
Wow, stand up, you really answered Tiny, didn't you! Standing up and speaking out against Democrats in Chicago is simply not allowed. So it must be reserved for somewhere not under the direct total control of the "party of the people". Right.
The fascists among us (yes, and even those who do not think of themselves as fascist but who spout "law and order") have always tried to quash the voices of dissent...however, it is often only the voices of the masses, en masse, that shed any light on the wrongs and abuses of government power...I'm thinking Gandhi, Viet Nam War, MLK...
I agree that the the whole "terror thing" is overblown. I do, also, think that news articles like this only serve to perpetuate the notion that we are not really able to enjoy the right of peaceful assembly. Whether this is intentional or not, I do not know - whether another "tool" in the kit bag of those who would seek to control others rather than to foster discussion and inclusion, I do not know.
What I do know is that there is (always) a strong element of fascist thought in the world and that the only antidote is completely free and open information and complete transparency of government. There is no disinfectant like daylight - and there is no better way to hide wrongdoing than by claiming the need for obscurity due to "security" or "national interest".
Remember Iran-Contra? "National security" was the ploy used by the bad actors then - seems like we're still seeing that same old argument...
Open your shades and see if there's a black Suburban with tinted windows out front Tiny.
Wow, how original!! Where have I heard that before? Oh, I know, from YOU, just three posts up. My G_d, what a genius!!
I was at the National Nurses United rally; it was downright mellow (and bigger than the MSM is reporting).
The terror charges are NEVER going to hold up. Someone (not clear if a cop or a civilian) seems to have thought beer-brewing equipment was being used to make Molotov cocktails. (I've never made a Molotov cocktail, but I think all you need is a vessel (probably a glass bottle), a flammable liquid, and something (a rag or whatever) to serve as a wick). Don't need beer-brewing equipment for that!
In addition, it seems that the squad that arrested nine people (three now accused of terror) didn't have a properly executed search warrant. Jeez, Chicago taxpayers have paid millions of dollars to the folks Jon Burge and friends put in jail for murder or rape based on false confessions extracted through torture; now we're gonna have to pay millions to the folks arrested on a bad warrant over alleged Molotov cocktails!
A lot of local demo veterans came out Friday because the Nurses' Robin Hood Tax was something we could support, and we don't necessarily believe that NATO is simply a front for the 1%, so we wouldn't necessarily join in the demos on Sunday and Monday. But if Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Supt. Garry McCarthy aren't smart enough either to backtrack on this "terror" talk or to provide some EVIDENCE that the kids in Bridgeport were actually planning to make Molotov cocktails, there might be a lot more locals in the Sunday and Monday demos than they expect!
My Dad made some home-brewed beer once. A bottle of it blew up and went all over the ceiling. Mom sentenced Dad to three weeks sleeping on the couch for his transgressions. IS this what's going on in Chicago?
Actually, it's more of an anti-'Robin Hood' tax as it will actually hurt anyone that invests in IRA's and 401K's. The 'big investors can simply move their money to a friendlier exchange. Do you really think the government would use the money the way you want? Do you really think that the costs would not be passed on to the middle class?
But keep on believing that big government is the answer. It's not, but it seems that the liberals have truly brainwashed the liberal masses with their propaganda.
By the way, since when is it a 'sin' to want to provide for your own retirement?
MaryinChicago..Proud of you gals...I wish more American women could unite like this. It's long past time for the women in this country to stand together before all the wrong people destroy our kids' futures. Some of the wealthiest men in this country are ripping off the Middle Class left, right and center. It's a disgusting commentary on what some American men will stoop to just to compete with each other for Numero Uno position.
Keep us posted on any new protests like this.
Tammy...People also believed Madoff was an honest man with integrity....Gotcha! Then, there was Kenny Boy Lay and His Big Spender of Employees' 401K retirements, Jeff Skilling...Gotcha! Sorry, sweets. But you invest and you take your chances. But know this and know it well, your investments fail and you fail alone...don't come running to taxpayers, consumers or employees for help by way of bailouts. Not not not not going to happen EVER again. Fool us once...
Well, that's good thinking. I bought a pint of sour milk once and then it dawned on me ... ALL DAIRY FARMERS ARE CROOKS. Glad that you are intelligent enough to engage in the same type of logic.
No, Madoff was proof of how "You can't cheat an honest man." Barron's had been stating for years that something wasn't right; no investor is ever always right and up every single quarter, there had to be something amiss. But no, Bernie would never crook any of his friends and co-religionists, he was such a nice guy ...
If they were making beer they should be released if making molotov cocktails they should spend a long time in prison. Molotov cocktails are designed to kill or maim they aren't a legitimate form of protest. I'm a democrat and support Obama and OWS's right to protest. I don't support people trying to make their point by hurting or killing anyone.
Actually molotov cocktails are to create fear, confusion and damage property. That has always been their function.
Kathy Stuart
Perhaps you are not aware where the term Molotov Cocktail came from? Google the word and Wikipedia will explain who General Molotov, of the USSR, was and the purpose of the "invention" of the Molotov Coktail. WW II, Russia vs German Panzer Tanks is a clue.
How hard is it to make a "molotov cocktail? A bottle of gasoline, a rag, and a match is a molotov cocktail. Nothing is needed such as a beer making process.
I don't think I would say out loud that "I'm a democrat"
Dasvet:
I agree... I made some "homebrew" beer years ago. A plastic TRASH CAN, a pitcher, some sugar and a few miscellaneous items.
I'm trying to picture what "Beer making equipment" would be used for! A couple of 5 gallon gas cans, a funnel and some rags is only things needed to make some Molotov cocktails.
Somehow there seems to be some misinformation being reported!
"Beer making" would be a fine excuse to assemble lots of empty glass bottles.
Where do you think this country is headed?......"He claimed that during 18 hours in custody, police never told him why he was arrested, read him his rights or allowed him to make a phone call, The Associated Pres reported. He said he remained handcuffed to a bench, even after asking to use a restroom.
"There were guards walking by making statements into the door along the lines of 'hippie,' 'communist," 'pinko,'" a tired-looking Annussek told reporters just after his release.
This is the sort of thing you would see in third world countries, but it has come home to roost! What's Next, A REVOLUTION?
The law enforcement agencies have way too much power now, which is never a good thing, can you say "Police State", coming to a community near you very soon!
don't know if you know this but the authorities can hold you up to 72 hours before charging you with anything, nothing new why don't you do some reading before complaining about a police state.
Mike1817409: Imagine that, police angry at someone accused of making bombs to burn alive police officers. How intolerant of them.
Mike, I think a revolution is what Obama is fomenting, and it not going to be a revolution for freedom by any stretch. This is classic "Rules for Radicals" aspects for dividing the country. We are facing a soviet, totalitarian type government if we vote this administration another four years. Vote for the American this year in November.
Dasvet...Nice try. Sorry not convinced of that fearmongering routine righties depend so desperately on. President Obama has done more for this country than any right wing neoconservative ever has. Fact: Reagan: 2nd term...Recession. Bush '41...one term...Recession. Bush '43...Financial Meltdown and Recession...This from the genius with the Harvard MBA...No thanks...No more Republicans for me. The entire Republican party is a male dominated society of good ole bois with back room agendas that do not serve the people of this country. They serve their masters ...the 1% and Corporate Welfare State.
They figure if they crash the Middle, it will become part of the bottom and they can sit like kings on top...Think again oh Mighty Geniuses of Ill-begotten partisanship.
Carter...depression. Clinton..repubs control congress...good times, then dems take congress...dot com crash, recession. Obama...depression with dem control of congress. Nice try.
Those were mild recessions. They're part of something that leftists are willfully totally ignorant of, the "business cycle". On the premise that "We're going to save you, we're going to rescue you" leftists (starting with FDR, really) have increased the role of government in the economy to the point that sustainable growth is nearly impossible in the long term. Understand this (you won't, you're willfully ignorant) -- corporations (which are composed of people -- owners, employees, customers and other "stakeholders") are in business to make money and are more profitable, not less, when more of their customers have more disposable income with which to buy their products. They want them to have more money, not less. People too dumb to get that, and think instead that corporations want their customers to be poor, are too dumb to understand that capitalism and not socialism is the real wealth creator of the world (how much money was in China when they were actually trying to practice socialism rather than pay it mere lip service?), and dumb people are perfect supporters for socialism, Marxism, and (like these guys) anarchism -- which is suitable as a belief system only for the truly massively stupid.
Just another day of underwhelming brilliance brought out by an MSNBC originated article.
Yeah Stand up, speak out
I agree with you. It seems msnbc is so quick to get a scoop on the competition, they fail to ensure all of the facts are presented - some even presented as inaccurate, if not false. Some folks play "whisper down the lane" and get the story all blown out of proportion. I used to use it in a communications class and started a story that was 100% factual. By the time it got back to me, I did not even recognize any semblance of the details the last student told me from what I told the first student to start the exercise.
That too, but Im more referring to the under-whelming brilliance of many of the commentors posting to MSNBC articles as opposed to those posting to real Newsvine member posted articles.
The first person injured by the Liberal idi@ts would be screaming where is the police protection
I hope these busy body jackoffs anarchist's protesting meet up with some real vigilante's in chicago and bleed out
You mean the cops? I hope so too...
I wish people like you had 0% influence on children so your kind would stop existing! Mankind has so much wasted potential and the negative types like History would just rather things stay the same or become more intolerant because they don't want change and prefer being controlled.
Atomahawk:
Is the change you want really "anarchism"? Presumably, "no rulers" and hence no rules. All that means is that the new rulers will be the strongest and the best armed, who will then take anything and anyone that they want. Idiot punks have no concept that under real anarchism, little wusses like them would be among the first ones killed. They just think that life is like a video game, and that blowing things and people up would be "so cool". So, essentially, whatever that happens to them, they have brought on themselves. Blowing stuff up isn't the work of a "protestor". Gandhi and MLK were "protestors". Mussolini was a "fascist". These guys aren't protestors and Pres. Obama, while something of a flawed leader, is certainly no fascist.
Jared Chase OWS occupier, first the bridge now motive cocktails, what a great bunch of guys you liberals hang out with and support "Sarcasm"
What is a motive cocktail? Is that a theme based after dinner drink? :-) Not trying to be spelling commisar, but that is funny.
Motive cocktail =
5 parts London dry gin
2 parts extra dry vermouth
onion (peel only)
Agonustra bitters -- splash
Blend well and serve over very cracked ice
If that's not a motive, then nothing is.
That certainly is a motive ater!
In a police state they'd be beaten to death for making weapons to kill cops not denied a pottie break.
That isn't happening; YET. It will!
They came from three different states so they could all get together and enjoy the experience of making beer? Or do they live in Chicago but come from those states?
The reason I ask is if they are in town specifically for the summit, I personally doubt that they would take the time out to make beer.
Why do you think that going somewhere to protest means that you are not going to use your free time to enjoy yourself, especially with friends (who live in another state) who can meet up with you in another state where the event is happening?
You have never gone somewhere else to work, protest, show horses, race cars, a game, a meet, gaming competitions, etc; meeting like minded friends there and doing something fun like BBQ and beer?
Many people have friends relatives in other states and use such things from protests, horse/dog/car shows, work, etc to meet up with them and enjoy the limited time together.
I find your question and statement off the wall, and unrealistic. Of course they have time to socialize before and after the event - well, not now of course, pre crime (meaning NO crime committed) arrest saw to that.
Good point. Iwas wondering why guys would come from 3 different states to make beer. They gave those states as their residences. But then they were also there for the protest. Once again the first story tells us little except that they were arrested so it's still wait and see.
These guys got together to home brew and, by the way, blow up an occassional police station or bridge, because you gotta have more than one hobby.
Those that get released should concider themselfs very lucky as under the NDAA they can be detained FOREVER with NO charges, and NO legal representation.
