Subscribe to RSSAuthorities say a Pennsylvania woman fatally stabbed two Canadian tourists during a botched robbery in Atlantic City. WCAU's Ted Greenberg reports.
Two Canadian women staying at an Atlantic City casino were stabbed and killed Monday in what appears to be a random attack in broad daylight, Atlantic County prosecutors told NBC10.
Police tell NBC10's Ted Greenberg the deadly stabbing happened outside of the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, across from Bally's Casino on Michigan and Pacific Aves around 10 a.m. as the women walked towards The Walk outlet stores.
Witnesses told investigators that a woman who was later identified as 44-year-old Antoinette Pelzer was trying to rob one of the victims: a 47-year-old and an 80-year-old both from Canada.
Bail is set at $2 million for Pelzer, who was taken to the Atlantic County Jail on Tuesday morning, according to The Press of Atlantic City.
Police Officer Jacob Abbruscato was patrolling the area and saw the attack in progress. Investigators say he ordered Pelzer to drop the knife and then arrested her.
The victims were rushed into nearby AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with stab wounds to the upper body. Both women died Monday afternoon, according to prosecutors.
Police say Antoinette Pelzer, 44, stabbed and killed two Canadian tourists in Atlantic City.
Police say the attack appeared to be random and unprovoked.
Pelzer was being held on $250,000 charged with two counts of aggravated assault, robbery and weapons charges. She has a Pennsylvania license and police were trying to figure out how long she has been staying in A.C.
Police say homicide charges are expected to be added. Police are not releasing the names of the victims at this time.

Personally, I think the cop should have emptied his magazine into "Ms. Pelzer". He saw the crime in progress, so we know for a fact Pelzer is guilty. Ten rounds of 9mm or .40 cal is a lot cheaper than the trial and jail will be.

These crimes can happen anywhere even in a Posh cushy Suburban well to do area. But it does show there are more dumb criminals than smart. Why do a crime where there are more cops? Id go to better areas where there is less of a police presence. But thankfully I understand that earning money is far easier than stealing it. Thieves always get caught sooner or later. Last Visited AC about 7 years ago. Was sad to see how run down the casinos and boardwalk had become. That could have been me and my elderly mom.

NJ is trying its darnest to change that. I've been down there recently. They now have a nice new casino (Revel) next to the old Showboat casino. Plus, a new Golden Nugget has taken over the old Trump Marina by the Borgota. I think AC is trying to slowly squeeze out all the "undesireables".
But definitely do NOT go for a jaunt away from the boardwalk at night. Too many... undesireables. And so I don't get my head handed to me, I'm talking about people of ALL races. Some of the white trash down there are downright scary.

Why does it always have to be about crack? This woman's desperation is very easy to understand and it has nothing to do with drugs. Clearly, this woman committed this robbery because she is in desperate need of professional hair care services, which in this case is obviously going to be thousands of dollars. The poor woman just couldn't afford it. Certainly you can't expect her to just live with that? She had to do something.

I have the unfortunate luck of being required to stay in Atlantic City a few times a year for conventions/meetings and I didn't find this shocking at all as the city itself has become a real **** hole in the last 5-7 years. They never should've walked to the outlet stores as the section of city in between the Casinos/Boardwalk & the outlets is 'seedy' at best and absolutely filled with all kinds of crazy individuals. The first and most important rule of Atlantic City is that if it's not inside the Casino you're staying at, TAKE A CAB.
Its been that way for way longer than 5 years. AC may be nice, but it is surrounded by ghetto. You are absolutely correct, if you are going between casinos, drive or take a cab.
Agreed, it's been going downhill for a lot longer than 5-7 years, my point was that it seemed noticeably safer to engage in something like walking over to the outlets five years years ago than it is now. I've been going there for about 13 or 14 years for business related trips and it just gets worse every year between the locals and the section of the city inbetween the casinos and the convention center/outlets.
