A man was shot to death in Miami after eating the face of his still-living victim. WTVJ-TV's Diana Gonzalez reports.
MIAMI -- Authorities in Miami are looking for more witnesses after a police officer fatally shot a naked man who refused to stop chewing on the face of another naked man on a busy downtown highway ramp.
Detective William Moreno said police are looking for people to fill in the blanks on what led to the grisly scene in which a witness reported that a man — later identified by authorities as Rudy Eugene, 31 — savagely chewed on the other man's face and growled when a police officer told him to stop.
Miami police have released few details about the weekend attack, other than confirming that there was a fatal officer-involved shooting. One officer told Miami television station WSVN the attacker had likely taken a new potent form of LSD. An emergency room doctor theorized bath salts, a drug with amphetamine-like chemicals nicknamed after the product it resembles, may have induced the violent behavior, reported NBCMiami.com.
The victim, who has not been identified, has been hospitalized in critical condition. Miami's local10.com reported he was a homeless man who frequents the neighborhood where he was attacked.
Read the latest on the face attack on NBCMiami.com
Witness Larry Vega was riding his bicycle Saturday afternoon off the MacArthur Causeway that connects downtown Miami with Miami Beach when he saw the savage attack.
"The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, 'Get off!'" Vega told Miami television station WSVN. "The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin."
Vega flagged down a Miami police officer, who he said repeatedly ordered the attacker to get off the victim. The attacker just picked his head up and growled at the officer, Vega said.
As the attack continued, Vega said the officer shot the attacker, who continued chewing the victim's face. The officer fired again, killing the attacker.
Emergency personnel rushed the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital with 75 percent of his face missing, reported WSVN. An eye, his ears, and his lips were gone, the station said.
"It was just a blob of blood," Vega said. "You couldn't really see, it was just blood all over the place."
A surveillance video camera from The Miami Herald building nearby captured images of the men's naked legs lying side by side after the shooting.
“We’re hoping that he pulls through, for his well-being, but also so he can tell us what happened,” Sgt. Javier Ortiz, vice president of the Miami police union, told The Miami Herald. “Only he knows.”
Drug-induced excited delirium?
Armando Aguilar of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police told WSVN he believed the attacker was likely overdosing on LSD.
"What's happening is whenever we see that a person has taken all of his clothes off and has become violent, it's indicative of this excited delirium that's caused by overdose of drugs," he said. "What's happening is, inside their body their organs are burning up alive."
Excited delirium, a condition that's usually drug-related, can incite violence, unexpected strength, and sometimes hypothermia, NBCMiami.com reported.
Paul Adams, an ER doctor at Jackson Memorial Hospital, told NBCMiami.com the designer drug nicknamed "bath salts" could have led to the attack.
“Cocaine and new LSDs, they cause delirium, which (means) you don't make sense when you take them," Adams said. "And when you don't make sense and you don't control your emotions, you don’t control your actions, you find yourself in circumstances that you just don't want to be in.”
Bath salts were banned in Florida in 2011, said NBCMiami.com. But new formulations have become popular, Adams said.
“We've had several deaths. Earlier last year we probably saw our first deaths from bath salts, where people (were) running onto MacArthur Causeway, under MacArthur Causeway, being chased by the police and then all of the sudden just collapsing," Adams said.
Eugene, the suspect, has just one arrest suggesting violent tendencies: Miami Beach police arrested him on a battery charge when he was 16, which was later dropped, reported The Miami Herald.
He has been arrested seven other times over five years, mostly for marijuana-related charges, the paper said. He was briefly married to a woman he met in high school at North Miami Beach Senior High, court records revealed, according to local10.com. The two divorced in 2007 after he reportedly became violent toward her.
"That's why I left," his ex-wife told local10.com, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Other homeless people who camp near the scene of the attack told local10.com they knew the suspect.
Police asked for the public's assistance in piecing together the attack.
"We know that there were many people on the MacArthur Causeway and we're hoping they come forward," Moreno told The Miami Herald on Monday.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Holy zombie attack Batman!!!
You can't make this stuff up. If we saw this for a TV show people would say...............no that's not believable.
Exactly. Why is the media trying to overcomplicate this? The zombies have risen and is anyone really shocked it is in Miami? Plus, I don't think zombies take drugs.

He was a stoner. We haven't had a good "Reefer Madness" propaganda newspiece in a while. So, I'm going with Marijuana!
What's really sad is the greed in this country that causes people to need drugs. If greed was not so prominent, the depression and sadness that cause drug abuse would not exist.
A man has lost his face because some greedy CEO (life destroyer in chief) somewhere likely decided many in his neighborhood only deserved slave wages. That led to poverty intensity and its natural accessory: drug abuse. It's just sad sad sad.
Are you seriously blaming Donald Trump for a zombie outbreak?
Drugs never hurt anybody but the drug user! LEGALIZE EVERYTHING!
Yes, the above comment was extremely sarcastic.
Well if Obama had a son it could be him. We know BO eats dogs so why not people?
No lie I just took a bath using some salts and now have this craving for meat.

Where's George Zimmerman when you need him? I wonder if the cannibal was wearing a hoodie?
.
That cop sounds like a complete idiot. Internal organs are "burning up inside." Seriously? Assuming that this is a metaphor for temperature (which may be assuming a lot, given this moron), he's saying that certain organs have a much higher temperature than the rest of the body. A high enough temperature to be described as "burning up"? Meanwhile the brain magically maintains a low enough temperature to sustain consciousness? My God. Why do the really dumb ones just not know when to shut up. Good to see our tax dollars going to provide the mentally retarded with jobs, though.
First off, this article had nothing to do with politics. Please stay on track.
This dude has a history of marijuana use. He may not have been able to get the real stuff and tried the Spice or K2. The unknown side effects of the synthetic stuff likely caused his meltdown... Or he was infected with the T-virus. In which case we should ask Rick or Herschel what to do. I'd ask Shane what to do but Carl put a bullet between his eyes already... When is The Walking Dead coming back on?
This is why you should stick to the Purple Micro Dots or Window Pane.(mesc.) Never felt anything but warm, fuzzy and good all over. I doubt this is any of this "LSD" is real LSD, just because it may be dropped on paper(a stamp) does not make it LSD. Heck years ago doctors used to give LSD and PCP to patients. It seems most of these bad drugs came from the medical field, LSD, Coke, PCP, Meth and so on, The 4 drugs I listed have all been Rx's in the past. The DEA then makes these illegal so the lab rats go and concoct some other drugs to get around the system, and then "causing people's internal organs to burn up alive".....That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard and to think our taxes pay this moron
I actually think they are filming in Miami right now, Kinda ironic isn't it
Legalize marijuana now. If he'd been high on weed he'd have been scarfing Krispy Kreme donuts instead of that poor guy's face. Another couple of casualties in the drug war.
John-2006106 -
He was buck-.ss naked. and probably a very ugly corpse.
Oh, please. Until the tox report from the autopsy comes in, all the conjecture is just that, conjecture. What would be truly scary is if the tox report came up clean.
They had best keep a very close watch on the victim in the hospital. At this point, I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

My first thought was "Hey.........haven't I seen this movie"...........definitely zombie apocalypse has started
Whether they like to admit it or not, people are influenced by what they see, more than not won't act on it. They drugs certainly helped this guy over the edge. sheesh
PCP and cocaine and several other drugs will elevate blood pressure and heart rate. That will cause a rise in overall body temperature. Internal organs generally don't 'burn up' rather, the entire body temperature will elevate and the brain is often the first organ to suffer from excessive body heat, witness fevers.
In reply to THIS post (# 1.4 by trust2112),
"He was a stoner. We haven't had a good "Reefer Madness" propaganda newspiece in a while. So, I'm going with Marijuana"
I just wanted to let you'all know if you somehow missed this CLASSIC piece of cinematic brilliance (that I can attest was shown to students in schools as a "factual" segment in the "don't do drugs" 1960's version), I saw just a couple of days ago that it is once again being offered on Streaming Netflix. If you don't have Netflix, it would be worth signing up for the free trial just to watch Reefer Madness!!
There is a lack of intellectual and moral comments here. Whatever happened, drug or mentally induced is very serious. I fail to see any humor in the event.
I'm sorry, but no amount of any drug would make me take down a random homeless person and eat his face... I just don't believe this story... Not saying it was a zombie attack but........ ok, it was a zombie attack.
Oftentimes people compensate to overcome the horrors of certain events. Sometimes people are just dipwads. This 'event' is so utterly horrific that it is difficult to comprehend or imagine. I am just grateful that I didn't witness it, that would lead to some serious nightmares for a very long time.
Well I also wonder why MSNBC is one of the last news outlets to post a picture of Rudy Eugene (the eater) who is a 31 yr old black man. Where is Rev Al when you need him, poor Rudy was unarmed...sarcasm
May 26, 2012:
Florida anesthisologist arrested for DUI. While in patrol car he violently smashes his face against the windows, causing injury and bleeding. When the officers go to remove him from the car he spits a mouthful of blood into trooper's face. Increasingly violent, he is restrained and once in the hospital is restrained after attacking hospital personnel. Inside his car is found a vial of an unidentified liquid and capsules also of an unidentified substance.

i'm sure it was acid. because people that have never tried drugs know everything about them.
That is the worst case of munchies, ever!
american - I disagree, people who have a problem with drugs and not getting healthy are always making excuses for their problem and their habit and say that THEY would never do that, that THEY can handle their meth, cocaine, PCP, LSD, ect... when it's all a bunch of bullsh*t. If these people are taking these drugs, they can finally burn out, get crap that they don't know what it is, etc... How do they think these things happen? How do they think people that take drugs, die, kill people inadvertently, or on purpose... I bet a few years ago mr. face eater said the same stupid things we are reading on this thread.
Where's George Zimmerman when you need him?
In jail, where he belongs.
Time to call the Men in Black!!!!!
Michael -
Maybe they should put the zombie killer in jail with Zimmerman since killing violent attackers is apparently a crime.
"...people that have never tried drugs..." have to put up with an endless line of amateur chemistry failures.
JK - the difference here is that that the face-eater actually attacked someone else. Trayvon Martin was eating skittles, not someones face...
Sorry, but killing unarmed people is a crime.. get over it.
I think the doctor called it with bath salts they are new and untested but legal and thats the reason people do them, if marijuana was legal maybe this would have never happend? It also could have been DMT or LSD but not sure bout the LSD i just know people like to get naked when they take lsd and its not cause there insides are burning up.
uuummmmm...... yeah.
Drugs are bad, M'kay, you shouldn't do drugs cause drugs are bad.
Conservatism! He was driven mad by the insanity that is gripping this nation!
Sure. Blame drugs. Typical GOP blame the victim. The man could simply be mentally ill and untreated by our fabulous health care system. Never mind we closed all the asylums - which was probably a good thing - but never replaced them with anything. That would be socialism. Oh please. Take your claptrap one word answers and stick them where the sun don't shine. I have one for you: VOODOO ECONOMICS (oops - too complicated for you - TWO WORDS!). If we spread the wealth by a SANE set of taxes instead of giving ALL THE MONEY TO THE WEALTHY FEW, perhaps we could afford to HELP people like this rather than shooting them. Again. Typical GOP Health Care: THE POOR GO DIE NOW!
It is serious, one human lost his life, another is seriously wounded/may still die from a secondary infection--more bacteria in a human bite than a dog bite. However, it is also quite gruesome and for many people, the way to deal with an unthinkable situation--or to deal with the nightmarish images conjured up by the incident--is to resort to 'gallows humor'.
By turning it into something to make a joke about, we come to grips with what happened and distance ourselves from the immediate disgust and horror. Humor is a coping mechanism--you hear cops cracking dark jokes at gruesome scenes and I'l bet while they were processing this one they too joked about it.
Just goes to show you...you aren't going to win a face-off with the police.....
alcohol and drugs do no good to you.
I can see the commercial for bath salts now; It Brings Out The Beast In You.
I recall it is Ecstasy that boils your blood and organs - I've never tried it, so if you have some, just contact me on my Profile page (just kidding Newsvine, I only traffic illegal guns on Newsvine).
So Bath Salts isn't really the stuff sold at Bath Works... I wondered why I wasn't feeling anything but thirst.
Cocain's a hell of a drug
fishman@ #1.12, LSD, PCP & meth has NEVER been legal! Cocaine, as in oxycodone, tylenol #3, and others is legal with a prescription, but pure cocaine is not. I don't know from where you've obtained your medical information, but you really ought to get a better source. Don't believe everything you read.
Using Spice or bath salts only one time has caused people to kill themselves and/or others. Those things are nothing to just "try" as it may be the last thing you EVER try for the first time. Dr. Drew's program last week had some good information on these two "new" drugs out there, with people calling in, telling of their dead child's experience, and/or their own. One mother said her son decided to try it because "it's legal". He ended up putting a bullet in his head. Booze & cigs are legal too & can kill you, too. Besides, Spice is NOT sold to smoke, the sales people say. It's sold as an incense. They know full well, though, that people are smoking the stuff. It's sad that people turn to such things to satisfy their curiousity for a new adventure in life. There are much safer things to do to satisfy that need. Even mountain climbing is safer!
Since both guys were naked - I doubt it was a mental disorder.
I don't want any drug that makes me get naked with other men.
Love it or leave it; oxycodone has a very small amount of opiates in it, not cocaine. Some say why put it in at all since there is such a small amount in a pill. Hard core users have to take 50 a day or more, you get more opiates naturally just running 5 miles.
I don't need a drug to make me get naked with a man (only if it was my husband, though. Other guys, ewwwww.)
But I don't need a drug to encourage me to get naked with other women. Stephanie March and Miranda Kerr are at the top of my snowball's-chance-in-hell list.
I would be more apt to listen to the ER doctor's opinion than the cop theorizing on what it could be.
I have already heard many horror stories from "bath salts", "amped", and other drugs being sold legally in many states now. They are not sold as drugs but are listed as for other uses like "ladybug attractor" or other odd uses but the people addicted know their real use.
Even the military has issues with uses of these designer drugs and have had soldiers become permanently reduced to a schizophrenic mental state because of some of these drugs. They are dangerous and more people should become aware to fight of this new disease over taking the streets.
Love it or leave it- check the facts- all those drugs certainly were legal- Pure cocaine was part of the original Coca-Cola - why do think it's called that. They couldn't make LSD illegal until they invented it. Most narcotics (including Marijauna) were made illegal by legislation passed in the 20th Century. One only needs to look at the history of prohibition to see how making something illegal really prevents people from gaining access and/or reduces consumption. We have drug violence all over the world because as long as it's illegal then there is a huge profit for the criminals involved. Stop the violence...legalize!
Wow, what a bunch of morons on here! LSD was legal until 1967, when stuff like this was happening on a regular basis. People were commonly found chewing the bark off trees, or jumping from buildings thinking they could fly. The writer of the article is a moron, because there's no such thing as a "new LSD". Seriously? A new HALLUCINOGEN, maybe, but LSD is LSD, no matter what. It cannot be improved upon, unless mixed with something else, but then it's still LSD, isn't it? The chemical hasn't changed! Also, this behavior could also be attributed, not just to designer drugs, but FAKE POT! I say legalize pot. Tax the hell out of it. Make money. Let pot growers make money. Give back to the economy. It's a hell of a lot safer than these "legal" alternatives.
Comedy equals tragedy plus time.
OMG!!! Is Umbrella located in Miami?! Time to lock and load.
Think again Love it or Leave it
Meth was and is legal an was/is used to treat OCD/ACHD, Cocaine, PCP and LSD were used by doctors as an anaesthesic(Anesthesia), Psychotherapy along with being used to treat pain. Plus there are also reports of our military using Psychtropic drugs to increase performance. Maybe you should actually try reading something as it seems you know almost nothing. Not only were these drugs used by doctors but they were also legal. As someone noted above, when someone invents a drug it is legal for sometime. Just like Bath Salts were legal for abit but that is not what I referred to in my other post. If youi read about the drugs I mentioned you would see that they were used by doctors. Idiot
By no means am I advising someone use them because they were legal or used by doctors, I'm just mentioning that they were. Listen someday I would imagine that even morphine could be illegal as a pain killer as medicine is advancing and snail poison is much more effective pain killer

Hackensack NY:
A man barricaded himself in his room, threatening to commit suicide. When the cops break into his room they find him backed into a corner with a knife. He begins stabbing himself in the abdomen, throwing pieces of his skin and intestines at the police. He is currently in critical condition.
Seems there is some really bad sh!t on the streets. That's the third recent bizarro mutilation, attack in less than three days. In Florida recently a doctor went on a rampage after being arrested for DUI, banging his head inside the police car and spitting his blood on the cops. In the hospital he continued to struggle, attacking the medical staff and needed to be restrained. A vial of liquid and suspicious capsules were found in his car, both are being examined.
Happy Days, I am going to hide for a little while now.
Correction:

People who suggest this is a zombie attack are just ridiculous. As anyone one can see, this has werewolf written all over it.
Actually, after doing a bit of research this has 'bath salts' written all over it. Sold legally and over the internet, it's use has resulted in suicides, murders, and violent attacks. A sheriff's deputy was killed by a person high on bath salts. There are numerous articles out there, there seems to be an epidemic of these horrific events. One person on bath salts was arrested, placed in the cop car he managed to get into the front of the car where he began destroying the radar equipment with his...teeth.
Go do a search. This is some really dangerous sh!t. A woman in Louisiana injected the stuff and ended up with flesh-eating bacterial infection, her arm and collarbone were amputated. Those afflicted are not treatable with the standard phalanx of medical procedures and drugs. Tranquilizers don't have any effect and the effects are often permanent and irreversible.
mygirl1
Why don't you let the toxicology reports come out before jumping to conclusions. An unsubstaniated statement made by police is not fact. Werewovles, on the other hand, are fact. Come'on .... growling, eating of flesh. Need I say more?
Gee, since the victim was white and the cannibal was black......does that mean Sharpton and Jackson wont be coming?
Ah, but therein lies the rub. Apparently the compounds are such that it is difficult to get a tox screen specifically for the compounds. This is far scarier than werewolves, go do a bit of research and get back to me, might just change your mind. There are some videos on utube as well, utter and complete dementia and what is more disturbing, violence against complete strangers, violence like what was manifest in Miami.
A woman hacked her mother up with a machete, a deputy sheriff murdered, a homeless man eaten alive, a teenage girl killed her mother and her baby sister, a doctor's son cut his throat and then shot himself. What is more disturbing than that is that the normal tranquilizers don't work, there is no real method for providing an antidote or pallative for the overdose and the people who are high feel no pain, are extremely psychotic and violent.
Sorry, I've been on line for awhile and there are too many stories like the cannibal story, too many similarities. I generally don't get too excited about stuff but this is exceptionally widespread news, not limited to one area and the numbers of affected is growing, the incidents are growing and the odds of this being some isolated case are not promising. Many states and cities are banning the stuff (which you can buy on the internet) and sheriff's and police departments are training staff in how to deal with those suffering from the effects.
I think you may be right. People are turning themselves into guinea pigs with these un-tested compounds. When they make one illegal, the chemists just change one molecule to make it legal again. You never know what you're taking. Reminds me of the movie " Jacob's ladder".
Everyone seems to have their own theories about this....I'm just taking the story at face value.
This whole article is a big pile of speculation while we await a lab result?
ridiculous crap.. It definitely was not LSD.. Bath salts maybe, meth abuse maybe, but it was not LSD or mushrooms or anything like that
it probably wasnt anything at all but a man with psychological issues. but this is msnbc so speculation is key.
PCP perhaps? Haven't heard of that being on the street in a while. The man's behavior sounds charactersitic of PCP.
Honestly Betty, you are so boring!
Thank you, Betty. This man had a history of violence. Let's wait for the lab results.
Yeah, because you PCP, mushroom, LSD users would hate to have to stop your use or cut back in anyway. Plus, we all know that everyone with psychological issues do this everyday.
Really? Glad to know you people are so "close" to the problem.
ManFromNantucket - My wife did drug testing for about 6 mos in the past year. I half-heartedly asked her if anyone ever tested positive for PCP, thinking that no one really ever did that sh*t. Apparently, that garbage is making a comeback. She said it wasn't uncommon at all. Really scared the crap outta me.
Now I understand what's behind the drug legalization movement: zombies! This is how they plan to take over. But seriously, though - look forward to hundreds or thousands of these types of incidents in your community when the day comes that people can wander into any CVS or Walgreens and buy all kinds of drugs now prohibited just off the shelf.
On another note, what's w/ that part about bath salts being banned in 2011? Is the writer referring to actual bath salts or an LSD w/ that name? If an LSD, wouldn't LSDs have already been banned in Florida long before 2011 (if not, it would explain a lot about FL)
Back in the 80's, I was privileged enough to attend 25 Grateful Dead concerts including Dead Ahead, and The Jerry Garcia Band. LSD was pretty prevalent at every venue. Not even once did I see anything violent, not even an argument. As far as bath salts? If I remember right, most of the concert goers didn't even bathe.
Bath salts were banned because idiots were really using them for other than a lovely bath soak. Go figure. But now there is an LSD that looks like it and that's what it's called. LSD of any kind has been illegal for a LONG time.
Sure. Blame drugs. Typical GOP blame the victim. The man could simply be mentally ill and untreated by our fabulous health care system. For those of you who don't know..."bath salts" are actually that. Bath salts being sold over the counter that people use to get a cheap high. I can't remember what they have in them, but I know they are VERY bad.
They're also a form of cocaine that's been cooked to look like bath salts. People used the words 'Bath Salts' as a street name. Idiot kids who don't know that Bath Salts are a street name for an illegal drug are actually buying bath salts at the local general store and trying them...with disastrous results.
I agree w/the "not LSD" posters...
I've done acid...enough (lol) to know that this didn't happen w/that. You cannot overdose on LSD. I watched a special on GreenTV called "Drugs Inc." on these new "designer drugs" that are BAD! We're better off w/the real, organic kind. All these designer drugs are just tons of chemicals. The real stuff is @ least natural.
I agree w/the PCP theory. Besides... blacks don't do LSD....
There aren't "LSDs that look like bath salts." LSD is a single drug, it isn't a broader category. Do you really think a homeless man is going to be using a psychedelic drug like LSD? I'm not sure how many homeless men want to explore their consciousnesses and uncover universal truths...it would seem much more likely for them to choose a drug that just gets them wasted. And that isn't LSD.

Coldredd,
Guess you never heard of Jimi Hendrix. He was tripping constantly and putting out some pretty amazing music. Google him.
Just being me..
"alcohol and drugs do no good to you."
yeah they do. they get you high.
and die in car wrecks, and stab people with out knowing it, and eat peoples faces, and drown in bathtubs, and O.D.... and wake up in stinky people's beds, and... wow, they do so good to you. Yeah dude.
Two thoughts: first, apparently we are drastically losing the war on drugs! second, no wonder I feel safer in my house, behind locked doors than I do on the street.
We lost the "war on drugs" long ago. All that remains is the profit to be made from continuing to fight it.
Please stay inside behind locked doors. It's more fun out here without you.
I have heard this guy had a history of violence as well. It would be cool if it was the beginning of a zombie invasion but I am thinking just some loon on or off his drugs.
The only ones for the "war on drugs" are the police and the drug dealers. They are the only ones profitting from it. The rest of us are just collateral damage.
I'm in a economicly depressed area and thought having tourists come out for Zombie races could pump up the economy. Who's in?
It's the belief that a cosmic jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that was put there when rib woman was conned into eating from a magical tree by a talking snake! Makes perfect sense to me! No wonder people are going insane and eating each others faces off.
Leave it to soccer moms to overreact and provide a totally paranoid and ignorant stance. Thanks for your "insight" Patricia.
I think patricia is right we should just kill anyone who drinks alcohol, smokes cigarettes, uses perscription drugs, worships a god, eats sugary fatty foods, exercises or has sex because they all release the same chemical in the pleasure center of your brain as smoking pot does.

TOO> SRS -798254 you got to be kidding me, please tell me you are, there is no one in this world who can be that big of an idiot !!!
Hey, good idea...big labyrinth-type maze, release human pedophile into it, give him a few minutes head start then release zombies and see how long it takes him to either get out (if he figures his way out he gets to live) and take bets on which Zombie gets to him first. Then kill them all when they get out of the maze. Fun all around!
well said ...just don't leave to go get anything from the neighborhood store ,or" zimmerman like "cowards will get you!!!!!!
P.P. - a mom
Congrats! You're a mom! How embarrassed are your kids by you??? Just wondering...
Pot is a gift on this earth!! Everyone else is right, the "war on drugs" is total BS! It's only profitable for the government! It's only being "fought" to keep the whiners happy! Good for them, the have BELIEVERS!!
Patricia Paulson, you reproduced? Maybe your kids will develop critical thinking, and see you as a cautionary tale. Your solution is to shoot people? Hmm, well thought out, about as well thought out as the 'war on drugs'. What do you do to your kids if they fail a subject? I shudder to think. Do you drink alchohol, use any mood altering drugs, ie antidepressants, anxiety reducers, sleep inducers, or smoke cigarettes? Well, if you answered yes to any of these, grab a blind fold, and step up to that pock marked brick wall. Your turn to be shot.

Really? Tell me, Patricia... when was the last time you know of a pothead holding up a convenience store? Or killing someone in a car accident while high? Or turning into a naked Hannibal Lecter?
Still waiting.... what was that? OH... still waiting.
If you run into Cheech on the road you will know, because he will be driving about 5 miles an hour and stopping at every convenience store and drive-thru he passes. Chances are you won't see him at all, for the same reason you won't see a pothead shooting a cashier... they are sitting at home on the couch, watching Beavis and Butthead and half-arguing over the last bag of Funyuns. Then they will pass out, get up in a few hours, and go to class... because that's most of the college kids in America. And you know what? Most of them will turn out far better than fine.
Yes, drugs are a problem. And yes, using some drugs, even most, can really make people start trouble or even get extremely violent... but pot is not one of them.
And before you start a paranoid tirade, I am NOT a pothead... but I really don't have a problem with others using it.
P.P.- a mom,
You should look to facts, instead of pontificating on your soapbox. I suggest you look into Portugal's drug policy. They had a similar hard line policy to the U.S. But switched to decriminalizing non violent drug offenders and paying for treatment instead of paying to jail them. The results; lowered drug use, lowered crime rates, and lowered associated costs due to shrinking the problem. Besides, These ideological wars are kind of ridiculous. Does drugs know we're at war with it? How about obesity, or cancer, or ignorance, or terrorism. The war on (fill in the blank) is a tired metaphor. Maybe instead of warring against things we should educate and treat problems with solutions that work for all parties. I know, this sounds like soft liberal ideas, but look at the results. If it works do it. "It aint what you don't know that gets you into trouble, It's what you know for sure that just aint so." - Mark Twain
Well, pot doesn't turn people into face eating cannibals, however, there's a whole group of drugs that are extremely bad. Some are prescribed and some are illegal. Go look at some of the anti-depressives like Prozac and then admire Ritalin, and a host of other legal drugs. We are a drug addicted nation, when 80% of the pain meds are used in the US. Bath Salts are a whole nother game entirely and they are scary.
Those of you dissin' Mom, quit. Most of you have never worked in drug rehabs or been part of recovery programs or witnessed the lives destroyed, the families destroyed by addiction. Some of you seem to have this notion that 'drugs' are just wonderful, but ask yourself one pertinent question; why do drugs in the first place? I'm going to include alcohol in that equasion and not the one glass of wine with dinner alcohol, level of consumption.
Generally drugs are escape facilitators, boredom releasers and a really poor attempt at attaining some 'higher' consciousness. People doing drugs are essentially lazy and bored. Need some 'stimulation.' Evolved people don't need to rely on drugs to become fully realized or stimulated or relaxed.
JayO: I agree with your stance on the 'Wars' on drugs, terror, poverty, etc. etc. Education and a societal shift is what is necessary and draconian laws that make drug use a crime with a similar sentence to murder, well, that's wrong.
I don't want to know what could have led to the attack, I want to know what did cause it. And the policemans suggestion isn't credible because he's just a cop, not a doctor.
So I hope to at least see an update on what the official, proven, tested cause was. Be it an overdose on drugs, Zombie-infection or if he was just missing some fava beans & a nice chianti.
I'd take the officer's suspicions with a grain of salt (pardon the pun) for lack of technical knowledge, but they're not stupid. They see crap like this day in and day out, and you'd have to be a genuine moron not to pick up on some of the patterns after a while.
Really... They see "crap like this day in and day out"? Now I know this is Florida and all the nuts tend to roll downhill but damn when is the last time you heard of somebody walking down the street deciding to eat a homeless person. Oh look... a hobo and am I ever famished... nom nom nom.
Sorry, saying "...your organs are on fire..." to national press is about as stupid as it gets. Particularly when you volunteer to render an opinion. Rats in a maze pick up patterns really well too. Aguilar has no basis to say if it was drugs, disease, or psychological. There are numerous accounts of innocents dying when stupid cops put them in jail for a "drug problem" when they are having a medical problem. Yup, Genuine Morons!
There are also numerous accounts of innocents dying when cops pump them full of copper/lead, tase, mace and beat there skulls in. It is becoming all to common in the states. In memory of Kelly Thomas
If the trillions were not spent on the 'War on Drugs' many of these problems would be non existent. But when they put the undo stress on the public crazy things are bound to happen and that is their plan. Educate, feed, and house the public and not in a cell for smoking a joint or ruining there lives for it. Look what just the little bit of education on smoking has done to get people to quite or never start.
Meanwhile the brain maintains a low enough temperature to sustain consciousness? My God. Why do the really dumb ones just not know when to shut up. Good to see our tax dollars going to provide the mentally retarded with jobs, though.
Yeah, you know I think this wild speculation by idiot police officers needs to stop:
"What's happening is whenever we see that a person has taken all of his clothes off and has become violent, it's indicative of this excited delirium that's caused by overdose of drugs," he said. "What's happening is, inside their body their organs are burning up alive."
Seriously?? Body organs burning up alive? Wow... what a retard. And yet somehow this guy is authorized to publish his ridiculous, thoroghly uneducated ideas of what happened here as if he is an expert. Just wow..
And the difference between his speculations and the speculations offered from about a million Internet experts is what exactly? If he's an idiot for offering his opinion on the matter...right or wrong... then what do the baseless opinions of everyone on this board make them, including you?
So many of you people just flat out hate cops it's amusing! It doesn't matter what they do or don't do...you just can't stand them...but i damn guarantee you if you were on the ground having your face chewed off you'd forgo your cop hating ways long enough to hug his a$$ after he shot the sum-bitch off of you! You hate them until you need them...and what would you rather have? Law enforcement or all out anarchy? Which is exactly what you get when you have no enforceable control over humanity. Spend some time where there truly is no law and order...where you have no one to call to come running to protect you from the rest of the cop hating violent anarchists on this earth and let's see just how long it takes you to want a passport out of there!
Mike, the reason some people on here dislike (not hate) the police is because they have stepped beyond the social contract with the people. 100 years ago police only had to respond to things like burglaries, robberies, killings and rapes. Nobody has the slightest problem with that. We are behind the police 100%. Fast forward to today. Police spend the overwhelming amount of time catching speeders, filling quotas (even the unnoficial ones) and busting illicit drug users (mostly the nonviolent users). As they keep up the trend, statistics dictates that eventually everybody will know someone close to them that got arrested, tried, and sentenced for something that wasn't hurting anyone. Then, when you need them for something important (like the burglary of my brother's house for instance) they say they do not have the resources to investigate it. This has to stop. It isn't that we hate the police, but rather we feel that they are not doing the job we (the public-- their boss) have hired them for. Law enforcement personnel always try the straw man argument you proposed. You give us two choices-gangs with badges or anarchy. The reality is that we would prefer something in between. I don't even have a problem with cops going after drug users-if they are doing something that warrants arrest (besides possessing drugs). When you have someone you know do time for drugs, it changes your outlook on the whole thing, and makes you distrust (and sometimes hate) the police. It isn't about cleaning up the streets or protecting society. For them, its about asset seizures for the poor fool that gets caught with a little bit of smokes. And the difference between this cop and the thousands of us on this forum commenting is that some of us have a degree (and even some of us in the right field) and know that he is spewing nonsense. It complicates the situation even worse, because anyone with a computer can get on the 100's of websites and find that nothing he has claimed is even a symptom of LSD (or any other drug out there for that matter). It makes the cops out as liars and complicates the entire relationship with the public.
No Joel the reason the people here "hate" cops is being the cops are trying to make them act like DECENT HUMAN BEINGS. The fact is they are more like the guy doing the Eating than the guy who got eaten.
Joel,
Actually, I'm pretty sure that cops enforce laws...they don't MAKE the laws...they ENFORCE the laws. Therefore, if you speed (against the law), then you get pulled over. The reason speeding is illegal is because it can lead to dangerous situations. Same goes for drug use (against the law). Yes, granted not all illegal-drug users are violent, but how do you determine who is and who is not violent...wait for the violent ones to kill somebody? I'd rather the cops just do their jobs (enforce laws) and arrest all drug users instead of just waiting for the "bad ones" to show their violent tendencies. If you need drugs for medical purposes, move to a place where you can get your medical marijuana card and you won't have to worry. Otherwise, what is the purpose?
I also don't understand how you can "distrust (and sometimes hate) the police" for knowing a person who did time for drugs...shouldn't you be more concerned with your friend and WHY they're doing drugs in the first place? How is the cop doing anything wrong by DOING THEIR JOB and ENFORCING THE LAW that the people or "lawmakers" (not cops) create?
Hunt, I totally agree with you. Everyone hates (or "dislikes") cops right up until the point when they actually need them. I'm from a city where as the police force dwindles, the gangs and homicide rate SKY ROCKETS. I'd rather have an @$$hole cop who takes his job WAY too seriously and tickets j-walkers than no cops at all. If we don't like the laws that they're enforcing then we need to take action and have those laws changed...not blame the cops for doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing.
Patricia, thanks for the unfounded opinion that is totally devoid of any facts that might refute any of the concise intelligent post offered up by Joel. It is not the job or the right of the police to as you say "make them act like DECENT HUMAN BEINGS" or for that matter to decide just what that constitutes. That kind of thinking is simply dangerous. I think Ben Franklin covered people with your outlook best when he said "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Amen! I got a ticket for riding my bicycle on the sidewalk. Only ticket I ever got in my entire life (since I don't have a car) and this was shortly after my municipality passed a law saying bicyclists have to ride in the road, we aren't allowed to ride on sidewalks in city limits anymore.
I used to work nights at a convenience store in a neighborhood that had 5 gangs running in and out of it. Cops were my friend (even if all they did was shadow the doughnut truck to the store in the morning and eat while watching me throw drunks and gangbangers out of the store.) Their presence was a deterrent.

So Amanda what if you tried to explain yourself to the cop and he did not like your attitude or your rights to explain and then beat your skull in along with 4 others. While they are reining down blows and tasing you yelling relax don't resist. Or maybe if you fell from a bridge 30+ feet broke your back and heel off and then a bunch of cops tase you 19 times because you were acting erratic while being tased. The problem is when a cop beats a innocent civilian the others just watch or join in. Even if they just watch but say or do nothing then they are a guilty as the one doing the beating. Ask Mace Hutchinson or John McKenna if they got a fair shake, I would also say ask Kelly Thomas but you can't as they cops beat him to death. Not only did they beat him to death but one of they cops that help instigate the beating was not charged with his death. These are only 3 names of the thousands that are beaten or killed every year by the cops when it was not called for
It's not just cops, I went through plenty of what you described above in a for-profit private deportation camp years ago. The whole pack mentality. However, even after having gone through the worst possible scenarios in the deportation camp, I would still affirm that having no cops at all would be worse. Not all cops are corrput jackboots--not even many are. It's the few who are that give the rest a bad name and I've met a lot of decent cops, and very few bad ones.
Ever see a drug mania? Two users together getting smashed. One hit left. Both users bat-sh!t crazy out of their minds. One steals the last dose. The other takes offense and wants that hit back. He will do anything to recover that stolen hit, including trying to eat his way in to it because it went into that guys mouth so the way in is through his face.
Sound radical? Not too, really. How many people have been shot because they wouldn't share their drugs? This guy just didn't have a gun, or a brain.
What was the drug? It doesn't much matter. Not MJ or Acid. Probably not Crack. PCP is the level where they don't know they've just been shot dead. Designer drugs are designed to mess up the brain any-which-way at all. It might not even have a name. Just something that came out of a pressure cooker. The makers hand out their product just to see what it does. If it does anything then there is a market for it.
I've read all the comments posted on here, and I have to say I laughed, grimaced, shook my head, agreed and was just in an almost awe at the way some people think.
I am in Florida, and yes nuts do roll downhill and there are a lot of them here, but before they roll they start on higher ground. Meaning, there are nuts everywhere you go.
I also know people who have been and currently are incarcerated for drug use. Am I mad at the cops for arresting them? No. Like others said, the police were doing their job. Am I mad at the prosecutor, the judge or anyone else involved in the conviction process? No. Again, that is their job. However, I do believe some of our laws pertaining to drug use/abuse go a little too far. Our prisons are overcrowded in this country, costing each tax payer a lot of money, and the numbers of men and women in jails or prisons that are there on drug related charges is a little absurd. Someone who smokes a joint in their house every now and then doesn't belong in prison. Neither does someone with a medical issue that causes them to become addicted to pain medication after an extended period of time of being prescribed them by their doctor. Some that use drugs just need help; ie, rehabilitation. And very few prisons in this country have rehab services. So they go in addicts and come out the same. How does this change anything?
I do believe the laws are a little heavy handed, but I don't just sit here and complain about them. There are many pathways of activity you can take in this country to try to affect changes in our laws, or get new ones instituted. No offense to anyone, but I feel that if you are not willing to make an effort to get things changed, do you really have the right to complain about them?
I agree with Amanda, and was glad to hear what she said. The number of cops that beat people, get on power trips and think they can do anything they want to people is actually not a large number. Those are just the idiots that make headlines, and paint a dim view of law enforcement in general. And the comment about "make them act like decent human beings" and that it is not their right to decide what that constitutes...as a matter of fact, many police departments have a policy that their officers must live a life of "high moral values and ethics" and are basically made to believe that they DO have the right to decide what that constitutes. They and their superior officers. Is this right? Heck no, but it's the way many are trained.
There are good cops, and bad cops. Good laws, and bad ones. Crazy people, and not crazy people. Not much we can do about the cops except when the bad ones show their true colors and we can try to have them punished by the same laws as the rest of us. As for the bad laws, if you have a problem with them, do something to try to change them. That's one of the things this country is founded on...Government FOR the people, BY the people. There are things you can do. Organize an interest group, start petitions, talk to your elected officials, make some noise!! If enough people gather together and make enough noise (non-violent, of course, a "peaceful assembly") they will eventually got the attention of those they need to. That doesn't mean it will make a difference, but it will make the lawmakers think. And over time, changes will happen. It's a process. As for crazy people, well they're just crazy, and what can you do? They are everywhere, and many different kinds of crazy.
why would it matter what drugs they were on?
i've been on all the drugs mentioned in this article and never have been violent in my life.
maybe some just people need the "lack of inhibition" in order to fulfill their fantasies of bloodlust
sounds about right, after all, he wasn't doing anything too different from what a lot of predatory animals do on a regular basis
It's a "new" form of lsd. Who knows what side effects it has. Also everyone's brain chemistry is slightly different. Perhaps he had an imbalance that got worse with the added drugs. It's kinda like russian roulette. Not everyone who pulls the trigger gets the bullet, but they all get the rush.
Oh yes, And it's a possibility its really a zombie outbreak, and as all the movies show the government will cover it up and blame drugs, until its too late. Some idiot will want to keep the zombie alive and study it, and someone will end up getting bit on accident, then game over. Zombie Apocalypse
Don't believe everything you read. 1) There's no "new form" of LSD. 2) it's already as "potent" as any psychotropic drug known to science. 3) Yet you can't "overdose" on it either, in any real medical sense. Trifecta of fail. This cop (and reporter...hell even the doctor, unless he was misquoted) should be fired immediately. If you're that ignorant about you own job, you're utterly useless to society. Then again, the whole drug war depends on constant misinformation and the promotion of hysteria, so maybe he should get a medal instead...
Dumb thought Jon but that isn't much to brag about. Seriously, the fact that you didn't kill and eat anyone doesn't make me feel any better about random strangers wandering around chemically enhanced. One of the reason we as a society don't like people doing drugs IS that they do break down inhibitions. Everyone and I do mean everyone has a dark ugly side if pushed far enough so why make things worse by adding chemicals to the mix?
PJ-697731 Ridiculous drivel.
PJ--are you actually calling someone else dumb?? You make your opinions sound like facts!! You state "One of the reason we as a society don't like people doing drugs IS that they do break down inhibitions"
Wake up fool!! Most of society is either puffin or drinking. I am very suspicious of people who push sobriety on others. BTW--those perscription drugs that many people take are worse not better for us. Are you a control freak or something?? Please get your head out of the sand. Live and let live. I have been to countless concerts/festivals where just about everyone is on something, and I have never even seen a fight let alone someone chewing on another's face!!
PJ your are not so bright are you? Do you not realize how many people are walking around chemically enhanced just by the RX from their doctors. Yes please get your head out of the sand, actually please keep it there and keep on digging that hole
PJ -- These chemicals are already in the mix, whether they are deemed legal or not. The point is, it is unethical to arbitrarily discriminate between many legal drugs and some types of illegal drugs, like LSD, which are not trivially "bad" in the way other genuinely noxious chemicals are. LSD is not heroine. Heroine is not alcohol. MDMA is not psilocybin. It's time you look at each one of these things on an individual, empirical basis -- not just calling them collectively "drugs" and leaving it at that. The fact is, LSD is in a radically different class -- toxicologically, psychoactively, qualitatively, historically, socially and politically. It's also time you come to terms with the fact that the issue of drugs is not merely about adding yet another volatile variable to the mix, as you put it; and you should deeply recognize that many people who, unlike you, have first hand knowledge and experience of what LSD is and moreover more legitimacy, may have much simpler and more fruitful lives (like Steve Jobs, to name someone famous) than the vast majority of people who pollute their world and dull their own lives by "adding to the mix" all sorts of mean-spirited, self-destructive variables that they mindlessly absorb from mass media and powerful political influences. It's not a simple equation, my friend.
P.J.
You've got to be kidding. There's a huge percentage of the population walking around on anti-depressants which side effects can include suicide, violent thoughts, and violent actions.
You know who scares me? Those people in nice suits that knock on my door every month and want to give me their religeon for free.
The Zombie Apocalypse has begun! Buy an AR-15 and lots of ammo!

Too much Twilight or Underworld. The world just keeps getting weird and freaky. Poor victim is missing 75% of his face. This is one of those things that make you say "WTF!"
I know the cause but if i tell you what it is you simply wont believe it.
It is possession. Eventually they will begin to see the reality of this. Why did the Chinese man on the bus in Canada tell the police to kill him.
Hunger?
Zombies?
American Dental Association on the importance of flossing?
I think Kahana is trying to say that the "devil" or whatever evil from whatever religion you believe in is possessing people. THink Exorcist.
He was possessed by the ghost of Milton Friedman?
Well there you go. Horrible!
To think. People wonder what happened to the dinasours why'd they become extinct. Well they were pretty nasty too. Everyones knows they were eating each other. The dinasours ate eachother to death. The last one standing didn't have anyone else to eat and starved to death.
Theres no such thing as evolution. If there was humans would have evolved beyond doing this.
Insane, inhuman, needs to be put down. Good job police.
What? Dinosaurs ate themselves to extinction, huh? Wow, that's a new one. Did Jesus whisper that one to you in your sleep?
Want to know why dinosaurs don't talk............................because they are all dead.
I thought only the lesbian dinosaurs...the Lickalotapi (multiple form of Lickalotapus)...were eating each other. Never heard of saurians eathing themselves to death. Is this what evangelicals are teaching now?
wow.
Wow! is right.
If you said "Dinosaurs are extinct" to a student from India he would reply "What are you talking about? We have them in my country." They also still exist in South Africa.
I don't "know" they were eating each other. Have you ever heard of the "Canopy theory?" To start with dinosaurs have always existed with man.(Fossils prove this.) Reptiles never stop growning and all animals were vegan at creation (Gen 1:30). That little lizard in the pet store will grow to be several hundred pounds over his lifetime if he survives.
Prior to the time of Noah the earth had a canopy of ice surrounding it ("divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters above the firmament" Gen 1:7) This canopy of ice increased the atmospheric pressure and increased the oxygen content. It also kept out harmful x-rays, etc possible attributing to their longer lifespan. The existing dinosaurs had very small nostrils, about the size of a modern day horse. The oxygen content of air was about 30% more than it is today.
To move on: In the days of Noah this canopy of ice collapsed. It is the cause of the 40 days and 40 nights of rain. The release of pressure caused the earth to rupture. ( "the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened." Gen 7:11)
The earth was destroyed buring plants and animals in a very short amount of time. Only plants/animals that become buried with sentiment in a short time fossilize, otherwise they rot. All fossils on the earth were created then.
The reduction of oxygen in the air made it difficult for these large dinosaurs to breath and they stopped achieving the size that they did before the flood.
Did Noah take dinosaurs on the ark? Yes. The big ones were big but the littles ones were little. Noah was 600 years old and smart enough to see the advantage of taking baby dinosaurs (animals) on the ark. They sleep more, they eat less and they live longer afterwards.
Hope I have enlightened you about dinosaurs.
Too bad Zimmerman wasn't on neighborhood watch duty that day...
MSNBC,
Could we please stop going to idiot cops for opinions on science and health? Officer Aguilar must have had to reach deep into his mail-order administration of justice degree to come up with: "What's happening is, inside their body their organs are burning up alive." Obviously way out of his comfort zone. Mine too.
Also, there is no chemical that is "new LSD". LSD is a name for a single chemical compound. Idiots in the press would call something "new salt" if they thought it was salt. The suspected compound is Europa, also known as 2C-e. It has nothing in common with LSD. Hey, but accuracy won't spark up your speculation, would it now MSNBC.
The American Media, promoting scientific illiteracy 7/24/365
Whatever.... just another reason to legalize all drugs right? Whether it was damaging his liver, accelerating his heart or turning his kidneys to mush is not as important as the simple fact that it made the guy a looney psychopath.
Is there any moronic un-founded assumption you WON'T MAKE??
Arsenic was just commenting on interviewing police on subjects of pure speculation and then posting FACTS about drugs.
Guess it wouldn't matter to you that designer drugs are often out on the street 2-3 years before legislatures even know they exist. There is another drug that has all of the properties you mention, has had a role in past human cannibalism, and is perfectly legal.
Alcohol.
Guess we better do something aboout that too. Scratch that, we did, and it didnt work.
Millions of people use drugs, whether they are legal or not, and most likely the same people would continue to use them, holding them in the same regard, if they were made legal; while the same people who do not currently use them would also continue not to use them. I don't know anyone who has not tried LSD simply because it is not legal. If a person is pressured to take LSD but strongly refuses, it is because he or she is afraid of the unknown, prefers his or her preconceptions, or is scientifically uninformed, religious, or otherwise indoctrinated by some form of propaganda. Alcohol has been associated with unfathomably times more violent crimes than LSD, and LSD is less physiologically harmful than alcohol. In fact, you will be hard-pressed to find any physiological effect of LSD (i.e. turning kidneys to mush) listed on any government subsidized anti-drug website, like dea.gov. The inordinately rare individuals who do things like the man in this article are not created by LSD but already exhibit strong psychological pathology. The legitimacy for the current legal standing of LSD is a consequence of a long ant-drug campaign that promulgated bad science for a sufficiently long that subsequent generations would grow up not knowing anything about its historical origins, therapeutic value, or close connection with naturally occurring chemical compounds involved in central cross-cultural social and religious contexts. Bath salts, on the other hand, are toxic and their effects are positively correlated with negative emotional change. One should at least wonder why some of the most addictive and most psychologically impairing drugs are the legal ones -- and not only legal, but advertised with such ferocity and lack of restraint, like nicotine, alcohol, and maybe even some the benzodiazepines.
Now if we could get you to teach a mandatory 1 day course to the 800,000 law enforcement officers in the US maybe "The Stupid" wouldn't burn as brightly as it does here.
Wasn't Gorge Zimmerman being treated by a psych dr. with benzodiazepine class drugs-- Adderall or Temazepam?
Sounds like a Case of Rabies!!!......
The heat and humidity in Miami, plus not having enough cash for a sandwich may have mad the guy hungry enough to do that -- but probably he was wound up on some drug.
Yea, maybe he thought he was at Mcdonalds.
Come on. He was a black man and black people are always wanting to "discover their roots." In the Bible black people are called canaanites. It is from this root word that we get cannibal. Look it up.
Welcome to the Zombie Apocalypse!
This 'new form of lsd' happens to be made by bigfoot and causes you to grow extra fingers.
Way to report the truth, and not speculative fearmongering.
And people want to legalize drugs. Are you f-ing kidding me?
See comment above by me.
Reread it every time you think that bad drugs aren't already legal.
Not into nuance much are you? FYI: Not all drugs are the same.
Legalization of marijuana won't automatically lead to legalizing everything. See: Prohibition. See: Repeal of Prohibition. Did repeal lead to legalization of all drugs? Answer: No.
Must be the Cop Taser Gun Was broken. After all the guy was naked and was Hungry. There no reason to shoot him with a bullet and spoil this guy appetite. I believe this guy was related to Jeffery Dahmer..Did the Police question the guy What did it taste like before he shot him?Now that news...:p
The homeless in Miami are a little spicier than the rest of the country!!
The police shot him once, and it did not phase him, he just kept eating. Anyone want to bet the second, fatal, shot was to the head?
I read one article that said six shots.
Uh.... wouldn't the word be "HYPERthermia" and not "hypothermia?"
Can't you reporters get an education, or is me who needs a refresher course?
I know..They need to "spice" up there story and get the gory details in..
Screminmimi, YOU need a refresher course.
hypothermia is accurate.
I would tend to agree on "hyperthermia"...excessive heat...as opposed to "hypothermia" which is excessive cold. The symptoms of excited delirium include an elevated body temperature, not a lowered body temp. =) So yes, the article has it wrong.
Hyperthermia is an elevated body temperature due to failed thermoregulation Hypothermia (from Greek υποθερμία) is a condition in which core temperature drops below the required temperature for normal metabolism and body functions which is defined as 35.0 °C (95.0 °F).
Screminmimi,
Based on the context of the article you are correct. Just before that the quote talks about the body burning up alive. Which, I believe refers to Hyperthermia not hypothermia.
well, what ever he was on, gimmie summa that @!$%#! *dewey cox voice*
PCP
cigs dipped in pcp. make ya see heaven.
Ha I just saw your post, we both are thinking alike there.
Probably a better guess than the cops. PCP is cheap. You can get a Sherm (PCP dipped cigarrette) for a few bucks. Europa is $20-50 a hit, if you could find it. Katamine is another guess.
You know, after a degree in this field, PCP is just about the only illicit substance that actually deserves the reputation it has. All other drugs have varying degrees of short term effects and some have a risk of addiction. Long term pcp users have permanent altering of brain function that does not go away after discontinuing use. Actual LSD (as opposed to this "new" lsd that the cop somehow believes in) is relatively harmless unless the person is trying to drive or perform another dangerous task. I would vote for the legalization of Cannabis, Cocaine (not crack cocaine), Amphetamines (but not meth), and opium (but not heroin). We need to stop with the new Salem Witch trials in America and try a harm reduction strategy.
Why aren't the speculating it could be PCP? PCP has a record also of attacks like this.A Man ate his sons eyeball while on PCP. So I would think seeing as we have a case in the past where a man consumed flesh under such a drug that it could be PCP....
Also the past attack happened in California. I will quote it from an article "A Bakersfield man with a history of drug abuse remained jailed Monday after allegedly biting out one of his 4-year-old son's eyes and mutilating the other."-CBS
Heres some news. Mike, Jedi, and Defend America know more than anybody the Miami cops send to talk to the reporters.
Here's some news PCP affects everyone differently some get violent, some get mellow and some just fall asleep like good little children. So yes it could be that but rather doubtful in my opinion.
What's your best guess William Cooper, IF (big if) it was a drug. Not setting you up, just interested in your opinion.
Besides me posting about the past incident with the dude and his son. A really famous incident happened in 2002 with Big Lurch who was found naked in the middle of the street covered in blood was arrested by police. It was found that he ate chunks of his girlfriend's face and lung while killed her. This guy was on PCP.
I do agree with Cooper drugs do effect people differently; I just feel PCP could be one of the reasons why this guy ate another guys face.
"PCP was developed in the 1950s as an intravenous anesthetic; its use for humans was discontinued because it caused patients to become agitated, delusional, and irrational."-additiconsearch.com
I've never seen anyone do PCP and eat anyone. And I have known plenty.
Law Enforcement and Journalists are @!$%#ing waterheads in this respect. Run a toxicology screen, wait 6 days for the result, and don't expose your total lack of knowledge with your base speculation. "New LSD's" is a term that makes absolutely no sense. And anybody who's spent a half hour around an LSD user will look upon claims that it caused this kind of violence with skepticism.
Typical response from Barney Fife...it's the drugs. Sounds like this guy was a sicko to begin with. He probably did take something but he was already a freak. He should have just smoked a doob.
I don't know that legalization of drugs will solve anything, but prohibition of drugs clearly hasn't worked. We need a realistic workable solution that doesn't include bible-thumping judgementalism or incarceration.
Oh @!$%#! Just what they need, more ammo for the failed war on drugs.
Dance monkeys! Dance!
Toxicology Report!!! Im not buying the LSD thing. When it comes out, he may have that in his system but I bet that it was a combo of Mental Disorder and Bath Salts that drove him to freak out!!!!!Bath Salts are extremely bad and with a history coming out of Psychotic behavior...it was an accident waiting to happen.
Accident?
