The mother of Kyron Horman, a missing Portland, Ore., boy, filed a $10 million civil lawsuit Friday against Terri Horman, Kyron's stepmother, in connection with the boy's disappearance two years ago, NBC station KGW reported.
Desiree Young's lawyer, Eldon Rosenthal, said at a Friday news conference covered by KGW that the statute of limitations for filing a civil lawsuit in the case was two years. Monday, June 4, will be the two-year anniversary of Kyron Horman's disappearance from Skyline Elementary School.
The lawsuit asks the court to compel Terri Horman to disclose Kyron's location, KGW reported. It also includes two claims, one for custodial interference and one for intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Terri Horman's attorney, Stephen Houze, told KGW he would not make any public statements regarding the suit until he has thoroughly reviewed the filing.

Desiree Young, the mother of Kyron Horman, stands on the steps of the Portland Justice Center on Friday after filing a $10 million civil lawsuit against Kyron's stepmother.
Rosenthal said the lawsuit would enable him to subpoena witnesses, acquire documents and evidence and "peel away the mystery" of what happened to Kyron.
"My family and I are living through a nightmare that most families cannot even imagine," Young said, tearfully reading a prepared statement. "My Kyron has always been my comfort and my joy. I will forever have a hole in my heart because he's not here."

Kyron Horman vanished after his stepmother left him at his Portland, Ore., elementary school.
"I haven't been able to see my son, hug him, kiss him or tuck him into bed" in nearly two years, she said, according to KGW. "Not a day goes by that I don't think of him.
Kyron disappeared two years ago from Skyline grade school, leading to the largest search effort ever conducted in Oregon.
Terri Horman was the last person to see Kyron alive, investigators said. Horman has retained a lawyer for nearly two years and has refused to talk with detectives, who told KGW that they are still pursuing the case.

Desiree Young is going after Terri Moulton (Horman) with a renewed determination. Kaine Horman, Kyron's father, just hosted a "Run For Kyron." They are both trying to find their son...and the truth about what happened to Kyron. And they won't stop.
The recent developments, in the Etan Patz missing child case, have proven that Kaine and Desiree's (and Tony Young) persistence might very well pay off.
One of the questions that I have been considering is:
Who helped Terri get rid of Kyron?
Was it someone who had an ax to grind against police detective Tony Young?
Was it a disgruntled coworker who worked with Kaine Horman at Intel?
Was it someone tied to organized crime thugs or a pedophilia ring?
Or was it somebody who was originally hired to make a contract hit on Kaine Horman?
Questions...all tangled up in the middle of a young boy's life.
If you ask me, I think that humanity could do better than that.
It's always about the $$$'s when it comes down on any given loss even life itself...
I am so sick and tired of these missing children's cases where the last known person to see the child was a parent or step parent. The next thing we hear is that there is "no evidence" that proves the parents did it. Why so we keep burying our heads in the sand with this issue? We need to have a new law and we can call it the Caley Anthony law since we like to name these laws after the victims. If a parent/stepparent is the last to see a child before the child disappears without a trace the parents should be charged with parental stupidity. If the parents can produce any evidence that they were not involved or did not contribute to the disappearance, then case closed, if not the parents need to go to jail for 18 years. If the child is found alive, release the parents. If the child's body is found then add a charge of murder. With recent high profile cases, it is becoming clear to me that it is easier to get rid of an unwanted child than it is to get rid of a an old mattress. It is time we stand up for the children instead of standing up for the probable murderers who know how get rid of the evidence or not to leave any in the first place. Yes, I am advocating guilty until proven innocent because if your child is harmed under your watch you are guilty unless you can prove that you did everything humanly possible to protect tyour child.
Kyron was dropped off at school where he SHOULD HAVE BEEN SAFE. How can you say anyone should be charged with "parental stupidity in this instance??? Do schools have the room for all the parents to sit in classes and "watch" their student??? NO.
Kyron didn't disappear from the school, why they would still state that he did is beyond me. The fact is they never established that he was at the school any longer than it would take to get his picture taken by Terri. He disappeared before he ever made it to class and since no witnesses have ever stated they saw anyone who didn't belong at the school that morning, it's pretty obvious that Terri took him back out to her truck and drove him away herself. It is all too clear and it's been a shame all along that Terri hasn't taken the fall she so richly deserves. People like her are why I stay single as a mother of a young child: the only people I can really trust to love and protect my kids properly and fully are me, my child's father, and our respective families. Terri Horman showed society yet again, in a grand tradition of psychotic and poorly-raised individuals that we've all gotten to know through the news, that no one is ever really safe. Well Terri, Etan Patz had his day, 30+ years later but HE STILL GOT HIS DAY. AND SO WILL KYRON YOU WORTHLESS ****!!!
Don't know where you got that from. From the beginning it was known that he was seen at school. There is also absolutely nobody stating they saw Kyron leave with anyone, including Terri.
The only ones that make a killing on any of these sort of things are the lawyers. Oh and lets tie up the courts for years.
Get real.
Kyron's biological mother, Desiree Young, has filed a civil suit against Kyron's stepmother, Terri Horman.
Kyron's father had a restraining order taken out against Terri stating that he was told she tried to hire somebody to kill him and that she was involved in Kyron's disappearance. The restraining order was just renewed for another year.
Desiree's sister has created a site to collect donations for Desiree's legal expenses incurred by filing the lawsuit. Desiree believes that Terri has the answers that will help solve her son's disappearance.
