LOS ANGELES -- The family of a 15-year-old girl who died of an Ecstasy overdose after a rave at the Coliseum in 2010 has settled in court for $190,000, the lawyer for the family said on Saturday.
Sasha Rodriguez died after the Electric Daisy Carnival dance party at LA’s historic sports venue in a high-profile case that led to the arrests of two former Coliseum executives and a grand jury indictment investigating public corruption.
Rodriguez was underage; the party was intended for those 16 and older.

Some $175,00 will be paid to her family on behalf of the rave concert promoter, Insomniac Inc., and the Coliseum Commission. Coliseum manager Todd DeStefano will pay $15,000, said Steven D. Archer, a lawyer for Sasha’s parents.
A lawyer for Insomniac, Gary Jay Kaufman, told the Los Angeles Times that Rodriguez’s death was not the promoter's fault.
"Insomniac was sued for who we were, not what we did," he told The Times in a statement. "If Sasha Rodriguez had snuck into the Hollywood Bowl during a Barry Manilow concert and overdosed on some drug, there never would have been a lawsuit.
"Insomniac did not admit any wrongdoing or liability as part of the settlement because they did not in fact do anything wrong."
In a case unrelated to Sasha’s death, prosecutors said in March that six people, including three former top managers for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, were indicted on conspiracy, embezzlement and bribery charges for allegedly stealing millions of dollars from the stadium.
A Los Angeles County grand jury indicted DeStefano, Coliseum general manager Patrick Lynch, former technical manager Leopold Caudillo Jr., music and event promoters Pasquale Rotella and Reza Gerami, and janitorial contractor Antonio Estrada.
The indictment alleged that Lynch, 55, and DeStefano, 39, participated in a variety of schemes beginning in 2006 that siphoned money from the city- and county-owned stadium into their own pockets, prosecutors said.
Las Vegas embraces rave shunned by Los Angeles
DeStefano, who quit in January 2011, allegedly received more than $1.8 million from Insomniac, the company that produced the Electric Daisy Carnival, and Go Ventures, which also sponsored Coliseum events, the District Attorney said.
"The only thing $190,000 settles is which side had better lawyers,” LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, who sits on the panel, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, this settlement compounds the tragic death of Sasha Rodriguez."
The Coliseum briefly imposed a moratorium on rave events at the venue following Rodriguez's death.
A lawyer for DeStefano declined to comment.

Nobody does ecstasy at a Barry Manilow concert. Stupid comparison.
He said overdose on "some drug", not exctasy. You should work on reading comprehension.
Might make his music bearable. Nah.
Lets see....that's 189,999 for me, and 1 for your family
Barry's music is Ecstasy, a cold beer, and warm sunset all rolled into one...
sorry the public school system failed you, MissScarlet.
If anyone overdoses at a Manilow concert it is on Viagra, not Ecstasy.
Logistical question??...If you can and do overdose on Viagra, does it require an "open casket" funeral??
I have seen footage of a Manilow concert and one can only come to the conclusion they had to be on something.
Perfectly clear - the age for ecstacy use in California is sixteen.
This article is messed up and all over the place. They are ponying the article blaming corruption associated with a teenage girl's irresponsible behavior that led to a drug overdose?
Wasted journalism. Bad journalism.
The original article might sent a precedent, though...your teenage kid's life is only worth $175,000 or so in the court system if they die irresponsibly in a some sort of drug overdose. See why such lawsuits and predatory blame game behavior and the resulting reporting on it is no good all around, people?
This is an example of poor parenting and a disobedient child. What was the girl doing taking ecstacy? Why didn't the parents know where their daughter was? She obviously lied many times to go to this place and knew she was doing something wrong by taking an illegal drug. This just shows how personal responsibility in this country is just about GONE in many places.
WGC you hit it on the head. the only people bearing any responsibility here is the parents, but they get to sue? LAME-o parents should have been laughed all the way to their crack-house. parents (not all, most) i would say leave the parenting up to the local cops, schools, and a kid's peers to bring their kids up. if i picked on another kid at school, i found out quick what it was like. i didnt hit anyone unless it was in self defence. i respected my elders, and didnt mouth off. i learned to be courtious towards others, and understanding when it came to other than my own needs.
one last entitled/druggie/brat/future convict.... but the taxpayers got off light on this one. of course that sounds mean, and cruel.... but the persons responsible failed. her freinds.... they too failed. the person who let the bimbo in the front door failed. this more turned into a story of who was able to ripp off the city until they were caught story. it had little to nothing to do with the girl, just corruption. fail.....
Wasted journalism. Bad journalism.
The original article might sent a precedent, though...your teenage kid's life is only worth $175,000 or so in the court system if they die irresponsibly in a some sort of drug overdose
LOL you critique an article call it bad then show us you do not even know how to spell
How would you know? It's not a dumb comparison- the point is, they went after them because they were "evil" promoters.......unless the girl got her ex from the promoters, it's not their fault. And, most likely she knew she was underage but went anyway
Personal responsibility. The promoters didn't give the girl extasy. She took it of her own volition. Her fault. Not anyone else's. This sue-happy culture we're fostering is making our justice system look more and more like a joke and a get-rich-quick scheme rolled into one.
And this is exactly the point. Somebody just wanted to make some money in our oh so famous country where everything (yes, I mean people) sues everybody about everything.
What a bunch of crap. The parents should have been sued for being @!$%#ty parents not controlling their offspring!
The girls parents are gold digging scum.
Sorry for the loss of their child but the parents should be sued. I know some kids will continue to get into trouble but the parents need to take responsiblity for not knowing what event the child was attending, who she was going to be with, and what she was doing. Not likely this was a first time occurence for the child. Vendors should "counter-sue".
I give up on sarcasm.
another lawsuit blaming other people for one's own irresponsibility- In georgia, estate of hispanic guy who died having a THREESOME was awarded $3,000,000 yesterday cuz it was his DOCTOR'S fault lmao, and today a sweet little hispanic girl's family gets 6 figures because the sweet little girl snuck into a place she wasn't supposed to be and took an illegal drug
Well said, GermanGem. No one FORCED Ecstasy on her!
Well said; that's exactly what I thought as I was reading the article. Can someone sue her parents for being crappy parents and not knowing what their daughter was doing and where she was doing it? I wouldn't have dared try to pull this when I was 15, because my parents were actually parents, 24/7, and knew about what I was doing, who I was hanging out with, what my friends were like, etc. And they damn well let me know that if I was doing things they didn't like, there would be some serious, serious consequences. Of course I didn't like it at the time, but now I look back and appreciate it very much. It says a lot about the state of our society when a concert promoter can be sued for a child's death instead of the parents taking responsibility and saying, 'yea, we screwed up, we should have known what she was up to that night'. They should donate every damn penny they are getting from this to a charity they think their daughter would have supported.
Yalehgrad, lets don't get uppity, my parents didn't know what was going on in my 15 year old brain and if your inside of 60 nether did yours. were just lucky to have survived it, but it certainly wasn't anybody else's fault. She was the one who took the drugs and she was also the minority of those who do use drugs who died from it and that sucks. but the parents and lawyers were totally misguided in this lawsuit. Economics forced their hand and thats a shame....peace
courts are usually just a way for irresponsible people to get money for being stupid.
Can someone sue her parents for being crappy parents and not knowing what their daughter was doing and where she was doing it?
The best parents in the world can't know what their kids are doing 24/7. Not that I think it is right to sue, just a fact.
My 4 kids all turned out quite well, but I am not stupid. I know they did things I was never aware of.
OK mom and dad I'm off to the rave. It's called the electric daisy carnival.
OK dear, make sure you drink plenty of water. Have fun!
With that said, it is weird that a large venue like this would allow such an event
Only in California! Add this to the lawsuit against McDonald's for the old lady holding a cup of hot coffee between her knees.
I agree with GermanGem and Yale. Exactly how is it that the promoters or anyone else involved with the concert are responsible for an underage kid attending the concert? Are they required to show IDs at the entrance. That wouldn't matter anyway, because they would use fake IDs. Did they give her the drug? No. Why aren't the promoters suing the parents for being irresponsible and allowing their daughter to attend a concert for which she was underage? Why wasn't this thrown out of the court in the first place?
I hope the greedy parents choke on their windfall cash that was gained as a result of their irresponsibility and stupidity.
1. She wasn't holding it between her legs.
2. The coffee was so hot she had to have skin grafts done due to the 3rd degree burns all over her legs.
3. When she sued, she only sued to have her medical bills paid.
These are not the same thing. She asked for a cup of coffee, not an illegal drug made by some junkie.
Youre absolutely right... but i wonder why you point out ethnicity. Doubt youd say it if both example were white
doesnt matter what race a person is, if your a negligent parent, its your own fault, and reap from the seeds you sow. not any more, however, it more like sue the person who let you plant the seed.
Not about that though. Its about not enforcing the rule of not letting anyone in under 16. They paid so they knew they were wrong no matter what they say.
breadex your wrong my friend. it's purely economic and the parents won't get 20k for their trouble. the settlement cost way way less than a trial would and its was just a matter of paying the parents lawyers. Lawyers gotta make their props, just saying.....peace
@Jeffrey & JOregon well said!
Good old American justice at work. So convenient for the entitlement mentality that pervades, and has diminished, our society. Why should the family get a penny for letting their 15m year old attend an event where drugs and other unsavory activities might be anticipated? Why should they get a penny because the kid they raised chose to partake? She made her bed and paid the price. They let her go and paid a price, although they are probably somewhat comforted now.

Things like this don't set a precedent. Only lawsuits about something new such as roe vs. wade set a precedent... Precedent means first, this is by far not the first time a place has been sued for someone overdosing, learn the definition of a word before using it.
guess you like to point out the spanic connection, hey germ? not such a gem, huh?
Petra- maybe you should know what you are talking about before pointing finger. "Spanic" is not a word in the English dictionary, Einstein. Go check for yourself, if you can figure out how to do it.
GermanGem you are 100% on target! Where were this 15 year old girl's parents?? and as far as the widow getting 3 Million because her husband was a cheat who died having sex with two women, his bad act's gave her a lottery win! I understood the Doctor didn't warn him of a possible heart attack?? Can't help but wonder if everyone is supposed to discuss their personal lives with their Dr. not time in a visit for that the waiting room would be overflowing ...lmao too....!!
where were the parents. probably off smokin a little dope or drinkin a little beer and like the majority of parents that i see have no clue what their kids are up to. Till the kid gets busted for drugs, DWI, or runs into a light pole playing the fast and the stupidous on the main street killing a kid sitting in the front seat. But then there are so many kids that have so much to deal with. girlfriend preggers and too lazy to get a job, just too easy to suck off mom and dad. Yeah theres a lot of parents out there that have no clue. And now the generation coming up from parents that have no clue is going to turn into exactly what? Forgot the ones that move in together and everybody gets a low payin job and they sit around playing xbox. They are referred to as gamers. What a waste.
but on the light side there are all those mimes in california that keep getting shot and killed. and that is terrible cause as you know a mime is a terrible thing to waste.
Or how many kids from the local high school died in drunk driving accidents after graduation. We have two here. Really sad funerals, everybody sad. What a waste.
You would have to GIVE me ecstasy to go to a Barry Manilow concert Miss Scarlett! But that lawyer is right on the money. Whatever happened to personal accountability? Did the promoter drag her into the concert and force her to do ecstasy? I think it is more like she made the choice to do both. And why is a fifteen year old out like that without her parents knowing where she is or who she is with? It's always someone else's fault when you f up isn't it Miss Scarlett?
Prejean303 you should work on reading more. This has been going on since the girls death and yes it was listed as ecstasy in previous news articles.
No, it's you, Rick, who should work on your reading skills. From the article: "Insomniac was sued for who we were, not what we did," he told The Times in a statement. "If Sasha Rodriguez had snuck into the Hollywood Bowl during a Barry Manilow concert and overdosed on some drug, there never would have been a lawsuit."
That's the part of the article that Prejean303 and OP were talking about. Reading is fundamental.
I love how some people get all uppity and try to rain on someone else's parade but only succeed in making themselves look like nimrods!!! Rick....FAIL... Reading comprehension 101!!!!
i feel badly for the family of the poor deceased young girl. but there are some details missing from the article. perhaps the venue was at fault for allowing a 15 year-old to enter the rave, but i doubt that if she were 16 or 17, the outcome would be any different. so, who is really at fault? the venue for allowing her admittance? the parents for not knowing where their child was, and what she was doing? or the girl for being stupid enough to ingest the drug?
And even that is pretty damn iffy. How do you tell the difference between 15 and 16-year-olds?
sorry Peter, this country can't afford the frickin handouts anymore, and we all know where a large percentage is going, not to mention the strains on the education system and law enforcement. we need to greatly reduce handouts as well as other SPENDING policies i.e. frivilous lawsuits, so we can get our house in order and hopefully make this country a great place for everybody someday. america can not afford those who only take and do not contribute.
What a bunch of BS. they paid because it was cheaper to do so and in so much her parents get a little scratch in their pockets. The parents and the lawyers can all go to he!!........
If they ever lower your kid into the ground, maybe you'll understand what hell really is.
They give our soldiers with PTSD ecstasy. Wouldn't that be a dandy lawsuit if one of them dies.
our soldiers don't get sh**. they just buried one in a cardboard box in florida. isn't that lovely?
German Gem, The only problem I see with your 'logic" is that you seem to know every person in this country, which of course you don't. Therefore you are hardly entitled to lump them into groups.
You have to realize that there are people of all ethnicities and races that benefit from frivolous lawsuits.
you are correct piglizard, my apologies
GermanGem....you generalize too much. the story about a cardboard box you're referring to applies to ONE guy. and using you 'appalled' argument, you could also complain about why these 'heroic' soldiers are just buried to begin with. why not immortalized them by building statues for every single one of them?.....i'ts a cardboard box, the body will decompose anyway, who cares how someone was buried
The family cares....really....you asked that LMFAO.
What if that was your dad they tried to stuff in a cardboard box? And its not just ONE guy...remember a while back when they discovered the remains of soldiers were being dumped in a landfill?
Its a @!$%#ing disgrace and to think otherwise makes you less than human.
no one was 'stuffed' in a cardboard box. you probably liken the phrase "cardboard box' to the ones your television or refrigerators come in. this is far from accurate. the boxes used for cadavers are way more sturdy and are meant to resemble coffins. personally, i would not care if my dad or mom were 'stuffed' in a cardboard box. at that point theyre no longer living. i see no point in a funeral procession that costs thousands of dollars, when i can take that money an apply it towards a worthy cause, such as helping poor families.
i really dont have any sympathy for soldiers, after all, they VOLUNTEERED for this. and before you go on a rant about how they are "fighting for my freedoms," understand that they really are not. not once have the freedoms of US citizens have been threatened, not since the war of 1812. to feel threatened by small group of terrorists half a world away is just ignorance. you know we had no business invading any country in the middle east. the day our rights are threatened is when someone actually tries to take over us as a people and impose their will on us. and dont think i wont be fight to the death IF that ever happens, but it's highly unlikely
LAME!
Lawyers and judges will destroy America,Americans will sue anyone for any little thing, there is no personal responsibility for anything we do any more, also there are way to many stupid laws in this country.
babble. Like it or not, lawyers and judges serve their purpose. If Americans choose to sue people over garbage like this, that is their choosing but enough with the scapegoating
Lawyers are not the only scumbags in this country
This is outrageous. Their stupid daughter overdosed on a drug and then the parents expect someone other than her or themselves to take responsibility? If anything should happen, the parents should be put before a court to answer for their terrible parenting. There is a lesson to be learned here: that value can be assigned to human life and the parents have showed how much they thought their own flesh and blood was worth.
I absolutely could not agree with you more! I'm sorry the girl passed, and for the family, but seriously- it was her OWN fault she was somewhere she had no business being. And it's their own faults for being craplousy parents to not pay attention where she was going!
Yeah you could think of it that way, but here is something else to think about.
I see everyone talking about personal responsibility here. Sure a long time ago parents taught their children right from wrong as well as responsibility. But that was in the past, in todays world a lot of parents tend to take a backseat to schools and television when it comes to raising kids. To them having children has been an inconvenience in their lives. I would bet top dollar that there is a higher majority of parents who never really wanted to be parents in the first place.
As far as the promoters are concerned, there was an age restriction for attending this rave. If the promoters made certain the people that were at the doors actually checked to make sure the only ones attending were of the age required, then its logical to assume that this girl would be alive today. If she hadnt made it into the venue in the first place, she wouldnt have taken the drug.
With that being said, the blame for this girls death could be a shared responsibility with the promoters and the parents. They both made serious mistakes in judgement that cost this girl her life.
As far as the child owning up to their responsibility...wow...really? Their daughter paid the ultimate price for her mistakes. Now maybe its time for the rest of the responsible parties to own up.
Id like to hear that the parents donated the award to drug awareness programs for children in their community. That could go a long way in helping with their grieving process.
I would personally feel guilty making a financial gain from the loss of my child. To donate it is a good idea and probably could go a long way to helping others
German Gem, what does the fact that these people who received ridiculous settlements have to do with the fact that they are hispanic?
People of all ethnicities receive ridiculous and unjust settlements in America all the time.
It's the tort system that is the problem.
Cute how clever you think you're being with your little easter eggs. Are you sending out secret bat signals to the rest of the loser Aryan nation? It's funny how few educated, professional people the white supremacy movement attracts.
I'm all for an even playing field because dumb ass white people like you would end up at the bottom of the heap anyway.
this country is going to go bankrupt if it continues along its current path. Believe me I know the hispanic problem is just one of many problems. I don't blame the people at all, I blame our government. go ahead and name call all you want, none of this negatively affects me I just feel bad for those it does.
The "hispanic problem"... nice.
'Hispanic problem'? So, German girl, are Hispanics the new Jews?
When it comes down to which racial group has the largest proportion of illegal immigrants in this country...sorry, but that would by far and away be Hispanics. Calling it the "Hispanic problem" may not be PC enough for you, but there aren't too many ways to call a spade a spade.
That being said, it doesn't say anywhere in this article that this girl or her parents were illegals, however considering the HIGH concentration of illegal Hispanic immigrants in LA, it's quite possible they might be.
Illegal immigrants are in no way the majority of folk of hispanic descent in LA or pretty well anywhere in California. Many are even (GASP!) white as your golf balls, "friend."
White supremacy=LOLLL. You are vanilla living in a chocolate-caramel world. Deal with it.
And no I'm not racist. It's called, welcome to the 21st century, where people treat other human beings like people!
There are 50 million Hispanics in the United States. There are 12 million undocumented immigrants. The rest are citizens. And in California, many members of the Hispanic population have been around longer than the white population. Remember, California wasn't always a part of the United States. When we took over the land, we got the citizens too. They have a legal and moral right to be here.
When you open your mouth and say something like, "Hispanic problem," you look like a fool and you should be prepared to be mocked like one. At some point you're going to have to grow up and live in the real world.
Germy went on vacation to Africa once, but she left early because there were too many minorities there, blocking up the view...
ignorance is bliss chem, until the bottom falls out, and it will
learn how to spell diatribe
and for the record fellas I have a bachelors degree in Poly Sci from a LIBERAL arts college in Pennsylvania, and my fav vacation spots are aruba, italy, and vegas:) Mexico was fun until they started kidnapping americans.
Dear racist,
Uh... I spelled Germy correctly.
It is a reference to your attitude regarding minorities, which resembles a contagion. IMHO.
It is not ignorant to state that the vast majority of people of Hispanic descent in this country are either here on legal visas, or are citizens. That is simply a fact. If you choose to ignore the truth of that statement, you are the ignorant one. The root word of ignorance is ignore. It refers, not so much to someone who simply is unaware of the facts in a given circumstance, but to one that chooses to ignore them when they disagree with that individuals paradigm.
PS- Your ethnocentrism is showing.
Diatribe I am not racist. So stop your gibberish. I am however against illegal immigration and all that goes with it. My paternal grandparents came here lawfully from Italy via Ellis Island. They worked hard, learned english, and raised 12 kids, without a dime from the government. Right now our economy can't support the excessive expense associated with illegal immigration. It WILL cause an economic collapse if something isn't done.
No, you are correct. Hispanics are multicultural. You are an ethnocentrist. You assumed that because this, now deceased, girl's last name is Rodriguez, that this story is somehow related to the issue of illegal immigration. That is patently ignorant. I would think that someone who claims to have a degree in Political Science would have the good sense to avoid logical fallacies. Otherwise you would have to be ignorant of the facts regarding the Hispanic demographic, not only in California, but in all of the Southwestern U.S., OR simply a bigot. So which is it? Are you a simpleton, or simply bigoted.
It matters not where your paternal grandparents came from. You are making sweeping assumptions about the people involved in the case this article references without any basis. This article contained virtually NO factual evidence to support your speculations, and even included another unrelated case. The article was written poorly, but your commentary, IMO has been just in poor taste.
Illegal immigration is another issue entirely.
Maybe they should charge the parents with child neglect - the neglect that allowed this fifteen year old to be where she knew (and they knew or should have know) was not for her age group.
Time to hold parents responsible for what their children do - after all - parents are the first to tell everyone else - "Don't tell me how to raise my child." If that is the case - then take responsibility for what they do.
And - maybe instead of passing all those laws that try to legislate morality - how about - passing laws that make these kinds of lawsuits impossible. And - while legislatures are at it - pass laws that take the license from lawyers who take cases like this - after all - Lawyers often refuse to take cases they feel won't give them a lot of money.
What gauls me is the parents put a price on the life of their child --- and SETTLED!!!!!!! How do you "settle" on the value of your child's life? They settled because they were capitalizing/profiting off the death of their child. They weren't in mourning over the lose of their child. They were excited they could sue someone and make money. Had they truely been in mourning over their child's death, there would have been no "settling" and no law suit because they would have realized that NO amount of money could bring their child back or ease the pain of losing a child.
its not about that Titan, its about soaking the system
'soaking the system'...and to which system are you exactly referring? i guess in your eyes a concert promoter company is this system.
its all interelated jones, but narrow minded people don't see that
frivilous lawsuits will ultimately be paid for by US, via increased prices
lawsuits against a business or company is paid by "their" insurance company not the government or US.
If they do not have insurance, the board of members, VP, CEO... etc can get sued.
How Lawyers work, is just disgusting. I am not surprise they do not sue the city the concert was held in.
Even than the government is still not going to pay. Only if the insurance they have does not cover the amount in the lawsuit.
I am still confused by this case. People have been doing drugs at music festivals for decades. Anyone ever heard of Woodstock? The'60s?
Raves get a bad wrap, when the reality is people do drugs everywhere and to every kind of music. Such propaganda to single out EDM like this. Furthermore, why is it the promoter's fault? Over 100,000 people attended this particular event that weekend and the promoters are not dealing drugs.
This is stupid. I feel terrible that this girl died, but the reality is she snook into the event and was underage and she did not know how to regulate her behavior properly. People do drugs responsibly all the time. You have to know your limitations and realize that you are not invincible.
TOTALLY agree with germangem. it was the girl's own fault. SHE'S the one who snuck in and "overdosed" on the drug! sorry guys! her fault!
Sure, we get it. Fifteen year old girls can get abortions and no one in the known universe dare tell them otherwise, but they are not to be held responsible for illegally attending a rave party they KNEW they were not old enough to enter and take illegal drugs? Yep, we get it.
I agree with the fact that this settlement is completely ridiculous. The girl made a poor choice, and she paid for it. No one else should be on the hook for what this kid decided to do.
That said, I find German Gem's fixation on the "hispanic problem" strange but also amusing. Ignorance of that sort discounts the logic in the rest of her post.
It's time to reform tort law. This is becoming ridiculous; reminds me of the McDonald's coffee spill case. Only countries with common law systems have opened so widely the gates for any frivolous tort claim to prospere. It all started when the courts decided to eliminate contributory negligence as a defense and they adopted instead the comparative negligence defense. In countries that follow the Roman law system (wrongly called "civil law"), the plaintiff's negligence in causing herself harm completely negates any recovery from the defendant. People in Roman law countries laugh at the astronomical damage awards that are handed out in anglo-saxon countries. It's time for people to take responsibility for their own negligence.
Another case of apparent abuse of the tort system and astronomical damages was reported a few weeks ago in Australia, where a family that could not even prove they really ate at a KFC restaurant was awarded $8 million because of salmonella that one girl reportedly caught by eating a chicken wrap. No proof of purchase, no initial report to the hospital and doctors that attended her about having eaten at KFC, no complaints from other customers about getting sick...the girl may have very well gotten the salmonella from any food she ate anywhere else, but the deep-pockets of KFC were held responsible despite the inability to even prove they ate there.
I feel for the family's loss but if she would've went to the street corner bought ecstacy and died due to an overdose of it or some drug do you then sue whoever owns, rents etc.... the street corner or whoever she got the drug from or whoever made the drug or all her friends who told her it was really cool or maybe whoever invented it or maybe even sue her parents for not teaching her "responsible drug use", and so on and so forth, maybe even sue the lawyers for not putting a disclaimer on the drug or whoever invented the term "recreational drug use". I could probably go on but I won't enough is enough
I'm going to be that guy for a minute.
"went," is not a participle. "gone," is, so the phrase would be, "she would've gone..."
Furthermore, "would" is a conditional phrase, not a subjunctive one, so it really should be, "she had gone."
If you see the word "if," don't use the word "would" until you see the word, "then."
So, a proper statement would be:
"If she HAD GONE to the street corner... then her parents WOULD have sued someone else."
I see people misuse would a lot, but "would've went," is particularly bad. We need to learn appreciation for education in this country. We used to be considered the best. Now we lag way behind. Of course, uneducated people are easier to brainwash, so there's that...
I believe this girl and her parents are responsible for her actions, not the company. I agree with those that say we need to learn to be more responsible for ourselves. Part of that is demanding and participating in education for ourselves and our children.
She and her parents are responsible for her death. Perhaps that is the reason for the, seemingly, small settlement. The article never quite makes clear what the civil (settlement reached in court; nobody went to prison) charges in the case were. My guess would be the promoters were sued for not responsibly ensuring that no underage people were attending their event.
Personal responsibility is gone in the US. It's always someone else to blame, usually someone with deep pockets or George W. Bush.
well said xsited1. its a free-for-all and blame game. they are all gonna be in for a rude surprise if china takes over.
Oh, 'Germy,' you are always good for a two-handed face-grab. Now it's China...? Really...?
What's a 2 handed face-grab?
really....?
She said china, not China. She fears we will be overtaken by food consumption equipment.
I agree with the need for personal responsibility. I believe it is true that many people blame others and refuse to take responsibility for themselves. But that goes both ways.
George W. Bush is responsible for his time as president and like it or not, it has already occurred. The economy was devastated under his administration. We're still recovering today. Nothing is going to magically go back in time and absolve GWB of his responsibility for his part in the Great Recession. While you're preaching about responsibility, you can learn to practice it. Bush was responsible for his actions and for his area of authority. That's the way the world works. By the time you become an adult, you have hopefully learned to be responsible for yourself. A hundred years from now, people are still going to be blaming Bush for the mess. A hundred years from now, it will still be his fault. You can't turn back the clock no matter how much you want. He was responsible, he failed, and the country paid for it. That's the way it is. Trying to wish it away won't work.
RE:25.5
Oh, right. My bad.
Leroy,
Two handed face grab:
The grabbing of the face in frustration, usually utilizing one hand but sometimes two, in extreme cases, on an occasion at which voicing one's response would be ill received, or simply would be useless due to not being heard at all. For instance when speaking to someone like Germy who obviously suffers from a severe deficit in reasoning ability, and/or selective understanding of reality.
Again, the promoter was apparently held responsible, not for the death of a young girl by ecstasy overdose, but for not adequately securing their event from underage attendees.
hey Leroy my love:) I thought maybe he wanted to kiss me lmao
these 2 realy get their jollies bashing people, its very sad.
If you read closer prejean303, Ecstasy was mentioned for the girls death. The word drugs was used as an example the same as Barry Manilow concert. Just as an illustrasion. I would like to know how she got into the place in the beginning. Parental control wasn't very good in this case. And the child suffers. More hard love is required in raising children. Discipline and respect has to be taught so as to keep your children safe. And lastly the bloodsuckers are out there to get their piece of the pie. Such sleaze balls that are costing all of us in the end. People, just suck it up and start taking responsibilty for your actions.
Well said; in total agreement.
