PARCHMAN, Miss. -- A Mississippi man convicted of killing his four young nieces and nephews in a 1990 stabbing rampage was executed Tuesday, despite pleas from his two sisters to spare the brother who killed their children.
Henry "Curtis" Jackson Jr. was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m. CDT (7:13 p.m. ET) Tuesday after receiving an injection at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman, officials said.

Henry Curtis Jackson Jr. did not request a last meal and ate none of the standard dinner offered to him, corrections officials said.
Clad in a red prison jumpsuit as he lay strapped to a gurney, Jackson was asked if he wanted to make a statement.
"No, I don't," he responded as family members sat somberly in a nearby witness room.
Jackson's sister, Glenda Kuyoro, stifled a sob when she walked into the witness room earlier and saw her brother on the gurney. Jackson's eyes were closed when the witnesses arrived and he never looked in the direction of his family.
Earlier, the 47-year-old inmate had spent the day receiving relatives, including one of the sisters whose two children were slain and who survived the stabbing attack. The slain children ranged from 2 to 5 and were killed as Jackson reportedly was trying to steal his mother's safe while she was away at church, court records showed.
Jackson was the fourth person executed this year in the state and the 19th person executed in the nation.
He did not request a last meal and ate none of the standard dinner offered to him, corrections officials said. He also declined a sedative ahead of the execution.
Clemency denied
Late Tuesday afternoon, Republican Gov. Phil Bryant declined to stop the execution though he said he was "deeply touched" by requests for clemency from the sisters and his brother-in-law.
In Mississippi, the governor has the sole authority to grant clemency and can also commute death sentences to life in prison.
"There is no question that Mr. Jackson committed these heinous crimes, and there is no clear and convincing evidence that compels me to grant clemency," Bryant said.
His statement added: "One of these sisters was a stabbing victim, and both of the sisters are mothers of the murdered children. However, as governor, I have the duty to see that justice is carried out."
Corrections Commissioner Chris Epps said at a penitentiary briefing earlier Tuesday that the inmate acknowledged the crime and was talkative as he received relatives. Visitors included his sister Regina Jackson, who was stabbed five times and survived the attack that killed her two daughters and two nephews.
Regina Jackson had met with the governor Monday and pleaded for her brother's life. She also wrote Bryant a letter last month saying she "just can't take any more killing."
"As a mother who lost two babies, all I'm asking is that you not make me go through the killing of my brother," she wrote.
'I forgave my brother'
Kuyoro and her husband, Andrew, also had asked Bryant to spare the inmate in a letter dated May 15.
"We are the victims in this case, and we are begging you not to let Curtis be killed. You can keep him in Parchman forever, but please don't put our family through this horrible execution," the Kuyoros had written earlier.
After the execution Regina Jackson, who was one of the witnesses, said: "I forgave my brother. I love my brother ... God says we got to forgive in order for Him to forgive us."
The attack took place Nov. 1, 1990, at Jackson's mother's home in the Delta region.
The mother was at church that day, and Regina Jackson was there with her two daughters and four nieces and nephews. Her two daughters and two nephews were stabbed to death, records showed. Another niece was so severely injured that she was a paraplegic until her recent death.
Jackson has said he doesn't remember stabbing the children, but there was testimony at his September 1991 trial that he cut the phone line before going in the house, then demanded money and began the attack, according to the court record.
Regina Jackson testified at trial that she lapsed in and out of consciousness after being tied up and stabbed in the neck, but she could hear her brother dragging a safe down a hall. The noise awoke 5-year-old Dominique, one of her daughters.
"Regina testified that Jackson called Dominique to him, told her that he loved her, stabbed her, and tossed her body to the floor," according to the court record. "Jackson returned to Regina, stabbing her in the neck and twisting the knife, at which point she pretended to be dead until she heard him leave."
Jackson subsequently surrendered to police. He was convicted of four counts of capital murder at trial and sentenced to death.

Why did it take over 20 years for this Dirt Bag to get what he deserved.
Carl, I agree. So, for the last 20 years, the taxpayers had to support this POS. Can't believe this scum killed his nieces and nephews, and their parents wanted to keep him alive. Been my kid, I would be the one in jail.
Because he might have been innocent says all the whiney liberal crybabys. Do you think the blood splatters on his clothes and hands were ketchup?? We should send the long term bill to house these killers to the groups dragging this out......
I am against the death penalty, yet I realize that 22 years is far too long a time for the appeals process to wind itself out.
I suspect that reasons for appeal are intentionally pursued in a serial manner to draw the process out. I would suggest a law be enacted demanding that any cause for appeal not linked to new evidence be filed within 5 years of conviction.
22 year of TAX PAYERS footing the bills to keep this low live living the life of Reily while he appeals........WTF?
Living on death row is hardly the life of Riley.
"Corrections Commissioner Chris Epps said at a penitentiary briefing earlier Tuesday that the inmate acknowledged the crime..."
Well, that's big of him.
Well i think that a person with a death sentence shouldn't get to live for 22 years in prison then be put to death. If your going to kill someone for a crime then kill them. Don't make them wait 22 years then kill them. When a person is given life in prison its 25 years. So this man served a life sentence then was put to death. The entire time knowing his life was going to be taken. That to me is unjust. Pic one or the other not both. In the bible it says that every man deserves the chance to be changed. In my book this man had no chance at change. His fate was sealed the day the judge said DEATH!!!. So instead of killing him right then they make him wait 22 years while tax payers are paying for his room and board. That is a waste of time and money. KILL them withing a week or so not 22 years later.
Really? How do you know? Convicts get a lot more then you think and the only way you would know this is to have been in a prison!! I used to think they only got coffee and bologni sandwich but after seeing what really goes on in a prison that would be good living for a murderer!!!
When a life is taken then a life is required. There were plenty of witnesses and according to the scriptures you have to have at least 2. In the 'scriptures' what some may call the 'Old Testament' his fate was sealed when he took a life and that was done by the Creator. The earthly judge put the seal on it here. There are no 'second chances' in murder with the Creator that is only with man who has no common sense. Once the person is convicted then carry out the sentence 'swiftly' or within a week. And this is for anyone who wants to 'lie' on the stand and have someone die...when you are found out, and you will be, then you will die as well.
After reading this article and all of the comments, can any of you focus on the victims, and the faith that allows them to forgive. Can any of you really say to yourselves, that you would forgive the individual who took the lives of your love ones.
The state tries the case. If convicted they should get one appeal to the state in questions supreme court and I mean within 90 days. Not YEARS..Take the fed OUT of it, you start burning one a month in all states and it might become the deterrent it was meant to be. Even better televise them.. had a lib say how barbaric I was for even saying something like that.. amazing how I was called barbaric but the pos in question who disemboweled an innocent person "shouldn't be put through that"
private justice may just make its way back in to society. doesn't bother me a bit..the courts are a joke. the maniacs have all the rights..
Because there's an appeal process in the USoA. IF you wish to live in Russia move to Russia.
BTW I am glad it was carried out. BUT don't be a putz and think because it lasted a long time in appeals it's a bad thing. The process is there for a reason.
Why did it take so long? This person did not deserve to breath the air let alone being supported with Tax Dollars for 22 years. This sentence should have been carried out in 1990.
It took twenty years because of appeals. People sentenced to death also live in segregated wings and the taxpayers foot the bill for their appeals. If a person is convicted and sentenced to life without parole, that changes everything. Those prisoners have to find private funds to do appeals and most live with the regular population.
The financial burden is only one of the reasons I oppose the death penalty. You cannot give a life back to someone once they are executed, even if it proved that they were not guilty.... then we as a society are the ones guilty of murder. That, plus I feel it is just plain wrong for us to end the life of someone because they took a life. I am opposed to all forms of legal killing, including abortion.
I would like to ask what is the justice in killing a person whose victims and their families are against it. It is like we are adding insult to injury, in those cases.
The only person with peace and closure is the brother. The sisters will live with the trauma of their childrens deaths forever, and now add their brother to the list. How much more humane (or maybe not) to keep the brother imprisoned - without any chance of parole. The sisters are now imprisoned until their death. It's only through death is there freedom from...
Living on death row may not be "Life of Riley" but it's surely 20yrs more LIFE than those children got.
All those children stabbed. Should we start banning knives?
When it comes to death row, when there is clear and unquestioned guilt. (witnesses, fingerprints, DNA etc) 5 yrs should be the Max time for appeals. Why should the condemned be allowed to lived longer than his victims did?
Junior Samples-4967135
As said by Jeff "Because there's an appeal process in the USoA."
Do you realize how many people are set free do to being found innocent even after decades in prison. There is really no right way to handle the Death Penalty. God forbid should I be the one to put an innocent person to death. People make mistakes, it is common that the eyewitness is the worst type of evidense, I'm sure not in this case but in many others. I do feel that the process of appeals need to be examined and altered. One reason is to speed things up and also to reexamine all evidense before one is put to death
Another piece of justice in the world but 20 years is WAY too long for appeals processes. Courts and jails are too crowded. Capital crimes should have priority Speed up the process.
Paulina Fuller, I call hogwash on your comments. I am in a prison system everyday, as a Corrections Officer. I work at R.C.I. in Chillicothe, Ohio and trust me I would much rather be out than in. These inmates aren't as coddled as you would like to make yourself believe. People love to believe what is taught to them, until you walk into the prison system, dont go around spewing facts that you yourself know nothing about.
Seven2seven - wile I have not read all the posts I haven't seen any "whiney LIberals" claiming innnocence. Perhaps these "whiney LIberal" arew a figment of your feverd imagination like the "Liberal Boogeyman." By the way, one of the things that makes AMreica AMerica is callled "Due PRocesss." In your RIght WIng fantasy willl we have summmary executions for everyone that loooks guilty?
Uh... In the first place, dear (Clinically Insane) sister of the Murderer ... Let's be REALLY clear on this one... The governor isn't the person "putting your family through this horrible execution."
It is Henry "Curtis" Jackson Jr. who put your family through this. And to suggest that the governor was in any way responsible for this tragedy is beyond sick - it's downright vulgar.
Carl Hubert -
Agreed. The governor and the judge made the right decision. What this guy did was heinous, and I echo the comment of Mr Miller above... the only person who inflicted tragedy and pain on this poor family is Henry "Curtis" Jackson Jr., not the governor, the judge, or anyone else.
this jerk finally got what he so richly deserved.the family was a bunch of wusses for wanting to let him off the hook.now he gets to join others like him in the deepest, darkest, hottest corner of HELL.Burn baby BURN.
Marquita904 - my answer to your question is NO - I could NOT EVER forgive this monster if he did this to my family! It is NOT "okay" to kill !
Yes of course my focus is on the victims! 4 and 5 year old little innocent children caught up in the rage and horrific actions of their own uncle. I can't imagine their fear. This bottom feeder tried stealing his own mother's safe while she's in church. He's a maniac and should have been put to death YEARS ago. He does not deserve forgiveness and I doubt seriously if the greater powers above forgive him either! May he fry in hell and may the family find peace and closure in some way.
WELL SAID MR.MILLER WELL SAID ! I JUST CAN'T BELEAVE I HAVE TO LOOK AT HIS FACE ON MY HOME PAGE . IT MAKES ME SICK !
It's down right depressing to think these women could want this man to live as their children laid in their graves. No one put him in jail, his actions did. Why should he continue to live on OUR dime?
Also for people who say jail is not that great...true for the most part. But he was most likely in isolation due to killing children...but he probably had a tv, books, food and etc....
Forgiveness for a crime is one thing, but restitution must still be paid for the crime regardless of the forgiveness. Same problem that our legal system confuses punishment and restitution, again they are not the same thing. I may forgive someone for stealing from me, meaning I won't punish him, but I still want what was taken back.
Appeals are fine when the case has questions. This case had no open questions as to who did it, or even why. This POS should have been a stiff at least 20 years ago. Appeals process in this case was pure BS.
The garbage sucking POS should have been tortured for those twenty years. And his sister needs to remember that the real victims were her children. First betrayed by their uncle, and now by their mother......
Janine - When the sole purpose that knives are sold for is to kill things, then maybe we should consider banning knives.
Uh, Dear sister of this POS child murderer, your statement that "we are the victims" is only partially correct. There are FIVE dead victims of this human scum. Four children murdered in 1990 and one injured and paralyzed victim who recently died. They cannot speak for themselves, so it is up to society to carry out justice. Would you want to grant this murderer mercy if he he were not your brother?
totally agree with you Retired US Soldier
totally agree with you Retired US Soldier
Often, the concept of closure surfaces now. I don't see it for the family - what was the gain?
He got to eat and have a full belly. He got to rub one off whenever he wanted. He got to laugh, ponder, daydream, and sleep. He got to have some comforts for over 20 years. Churchy people are so out of their minds that they think this is ok. Forgive? Really? What if you were stabbed a few times in the neck by your brother, then you get to watch him stab to death your children, and your sisters children. A slow and horrible painful death. They got to watch the others get stabbed to death before they got the same. I don't care what you call it or think about it but that guy deserved to be put down the second he decided to end them lives. If thats God, to forgive and move on, then no thanks. If you live through that and say "I forgive him, please let him live" then you are completely out of your mind. Brainwashed and insane. To me it's like a rabid animal, you can't fix or change it, you have to put it down. You put faith in a book and heresay. You are part of the problem.
He should have been shot in an "escape attempt" (wink wink) years ago.
I totally agree with "dissapointed and ashamed". To be honest, if this happen to my kids, he would have never made it to jail and I know most of the American taxpayers would thank me! And people wonder why our country is close to bankruptcy. An eye for an eye!
Jimmy-1104097
I agree totally, I believe in an eye for an eye. It seems in some cultures or sub-cultures, children are just an expendable commodity. I see people on TV all the time whose child was just shot or stabbed crying and saying they forgive the person who did it. Never have I understood this. If it were my child I'm afraid I'd be trying to get my hands around thier throat.
WeAllHaveOpinions,
Your inmates are coddled inasmuch as they are allowed to breathe the air and go for more than 30 minutes at a time without being beaten with clubs. As to the ones on death row, they should be executed publicly within one week of initial sentencing.
I hope you rot in hell you lowlife scumbag POS.
disappointed and ashamed,
Don't assume that ALL people who attend churches think like that. Only the ones without brains. ;-)
I know Ken, you are right, I don't mean to generalize you and others like you. I was definitely referring to the more extreme types. I know some folks myself that are churchy (spiritual) and down to earth as well.
It took 20 years so that the attorneys and prison industry could profit mightily from the taxpayer.
Follow the money, people. It's not hard.
Good riddance, by the way.
Yeah, right. "Free my poor brother, but, HANG that dirtbag Zimmerman"
Wow, a lot of people really want to watch someone be killed. Calling the parents of the murdered children who don't share the same desire for death and eye for an eye retribution vulgar and insane is simply ignorant and disrespectful, this isn't Babylon. I'm sure God would be proud of all of you.
Death sentences should be carried out within 90 days if there is:
1.) Direct and unimpeachable video evidence of the crime.
2.) Direct and unimpeachable DNA evidence.
3.) Direct and unimpeachable eyewitness testimony from 3 independent sources.
This would put off endless delays and the slowing down of our court systems. A sentence could not be commuted if 2 or more of these criteria were met.
Will I ever be able to read a single story where the people commenting use the word "than" instead of "then". Newsvine is making me dumber not smarter.
I don't know if Carl Hubert is a moron, but he says some really stupid @!$%# on Newsvine. I'm sure he's a great guy with no mental health problems, but man what a retarded post. Oh and bonus, the genius used bold due to the profound nature of his worthless comment. BTW Seven2Seven posts equally banal drivel.
Hussien #1.20 Same BS from you as you can't write an original thought. There are lots of liberals on these posts who cry foul when ANY execution is carried out. Are you one of those in the closet? Due process as you say in American should simply not take 22 YEARS!!!
Please take a shot of whiskey or a blow as you obviously have trouble with "finger stick" on your keyboard. I suspect it also affects your cognitive thinking as well.......
the Wages of horrific/ghastly SIN, should be DEATH !!!xxx...
There are so many people who use 'of' instead of 'have,' how can that be Russ!?
Finally the trash was taken out. Unfortunately it was about 21yrs and 9 months to late. I 100% support due process, it is essential to our legal system, but Like Steve H posted above, when there is irrefutable evidence and no doubt at all, these monsters should be removed from society in a quick and timely manner. They should not be allowed to linger on for this long. Nothing but a waste of money. There needs to be a defining line on what cases get the option of moving into an appeals process and the cases where the evidence is leaves no room for doubting the events in question. Then those in the appeals process need to be capped with a set length of time for the appeal (5yrs) to have to take place and the number of appeals. Obviously there are finer details to this and it goes without saying the court needs to be sure well beyond reasonable doubt before a death penalty sentence is handed down as it is not to be taken lightly at all.
I understand the point of not wanting to take another life, and like I've posted before maybe someday we will get to a point in our evolution were we don't have to do it anymore and we don't have people who want to kill others or we can truly fix those that are broken, but now is not that time. Some people are broken (I say that as not mentally ill in a medical sense but just not caring or having remorse for heinous actions like what this POS did) and there is no choice but to remove them from this world.
If the family found forgiveness then good for them but it still does not change what this man did (yes it was him and he made the choice, no one else is responsible for him being put to death but himself) and justice needs to be served, and this is the best way we have right now for a POS like him. In fact I'm further against stringing this out any longer than need and against the viewing of it by others, that is a little messed up to me, I will also say these guys are lucky in many cases an simple bullet should be the solution.
In the end I think this shows more failings on our justice and legal system and the need for further reforms and limiting the influences that other outside forces may have. The point of the system is to try people, if found guilty; apply the appropriate sentence, carry out that sentence, and then the see that justice is served in manner that is most appropriate and benefiting to society.
It is time
Ok id511, let me stab your kids to death in front of you and then you can save my life, telling me how great God is while you forgive me. You are a complete nitwit and you have no clue what God thinks. Not yesterday, today, or ever. Pathetic and useless comment.
id511 why should he be allowed to live after the lives he took? I bet his sisters would eventually have said he was reformed and we should let him walk free.
Why does he get free living arrangments and medical services as others don't? Jail is horrible, but compare to most countries, our jails are resorts. Also, as I said before, due to his crime he was most likely in isolation and did not interact much with other inimated, meaning he was safer then most.
His family is delusional and I feel sorry for the REAL victims, which is not his sisters.
This story is terribly sad. Yet I do not agree with the death penalty. If what we say, as a nation, is that it is wrong to commit the act of murder, why then is it ok for the State of Mississippi to commit the act of murder? It is wrong, in my opinion, for anyone to take anybody else's life, regardless of the circumstances. so, so sad...
I am also against the death penalty, and I don't care what anyone says......I read all the comments on what if it were your kids etc....I am still against the death penalty. It isn't right that the law reads that killing is unlawful then they turn around and kill a person with this death penalty BS!! I feel that a person that does these crimes should have to sit and remember daily what they are in prison for! I just think death is too good for some of these people and lets them off really. Not to mention there are so many innocent people that have been killed and that makes this whole thing faulty.
It is also very irritating to see everyone mention the taxpayers footing the bill while they live etc......that is a bunch of BS!!! It's our government that forces us into paying these bogus taxes......tax this and tax that and yet nothing changes! That is another subject all together really but the taxpayers paying for this and that is the worst most brainwashed BS!!!
And id511 don't listen to those people that are upset at your post.....Many people don't seem to understand about God and forgiveness........it seems that everyone enjoys all this killing!!!
Michael72, you are a sad man. Once again, let me stab your kids to death in front of you, after I stabbed you and left you for dead. Then tell me how great god is and forgive me. Are you out of your mind? You are not human if you can honestly say that you would get preachy and churchy and then forgive me. You don't deserve kids man. I would kill and die for mine because I am a real man, human, parent, protector.
"And they say we should LOVE THY NEIGHBOR or RELATIVE"?
There are many more inmates on Death Row who have lived longer than the 22 years, still in Jail waiting for Execution.
The Justice System/Jails holding these POS's is Nuts. We, the taxpayer have to support them.
I do agree with most. The appeals process is drawn out for way too long in death penaly cases. But if anyone wants to discuss the waste of tax payer money, here's another example.
In R.I. Gov. Chaffee is taking a death penalty case to the Supreme court to try to get the Feds to give a convicted killer life in prison rather than death. The Feds own the case. In this case, this POS waited outside a bank, shot and killed the victim in the parking lot for a couple thousand dollars.
This is a case of the Gov. wasting taxpayer money trying to prevent putting this POS to death because of his own personal beliefs when the majority of Rhode Islanders polled disagree with him. And the state of RI is rumored to be considering bankruptsy.
John Wayne Gacy murdered at least 33 young men, many still teenagers, between 1972 and 1978 in Illinois. He buried many of them in the crawl space beneath his home in Norwood Park. He was arrested, admitted what he did, and was convicted and sentenced to death in 1980. He spent the next 14 years on death row in Joliet painting clowns and selling the paintings for as much a $20k. He studied law books and filed numerous suits and appeals, all of which failed. Finally a law was created so convicted murderers cannot profit from their crimes in prison. There was never any question of his guilt yet he lived comfortably for 14 more years before being put to sleep and then to death in 1994. Even after THAT... after producing a villain so heinous as Gacy, Illinois would eventually do away with the death penalty altogether. If there was ever an argument for such a penalty it was this guy.
I don't think killing is good or enjoyable, I think it is unforunately necessary due to our nature as humans. We can't sit by and pray about extreme murderers. They need to be removed in a way that is just and not personal. We should not pay as citizens for them to be able to enjoy nurishment, education, knowledge, orgasims, and the company of others. It is a huge waste of resources that could be used for good things. They snuff out multiple peoples lives in a horrible way and we should forgive them and shelter them, feed them, and hopefully change them or rehabilitate them? That is not reality. It doesn't work. In the end it makes us look rediculously out of touch. We will never be what you think god intends. It is unachievable.
Wow. Judgmental a$$hats are out in force today. And yes, by calling you most of that, I realize that makes me a judgmental a$$hat, too. I sure do love me some highfalutin hypocrisy. :)
disasapointed and ashamed: you summarize exactly why i not only don't like christians, i also think they are complete hypocrites. thank you yet again for confirming my beliefs about your kind. you call anyone on here that doesnt agree with you stupid and name call. you sound like a tiffy toddler and you say your a christian....jesus advocated forgiveness and the bible does say thou shalt not kill. it is one of the TEN COMMANDMENTS. its ok though your kind always choses to pick and choose out of your holy book you are not alone. spirtual yet "down to earth?" haha ok churchy? you are a christian in tradition, not from a personal relationship with God. if you were you wouldn't act like this to your fellow man.
That same faith also commands them to put murderers to death and to punish thieves. This man murdered several people who were barely over the age of baby. He would have murdered his sister too. They can forgive him and pray for his soul while his Biblically-commanded punishment is delivered and thank the Lord that he's not being stoned or drawn and quartered, like some passages suggest.
I feel badly for the victims that their brother also murdered their brother (by proxy) and they're having to suffer more because of his poor choice in actions but I don't want to share the planet with someone who can justify hugging then stabbing to death a toddler. Pardon - several toddlers.
Jrad: "If what we say, as a nation, is that it is wrong to commit the act of murder, why then is it ok for the State of Mississippi to commit the act of murder?"
Yes. Don't kill or I'll kill you. Just read the majority of the posts on this Newsvine. The majority of the posters want to kill--just like the convicted killers. But somehow when these posters do the killing--that's "good" and "righteous." Crazy!
One of the 10 commandments is "Thou shalt not kill." No exceptions. Not for execution. Not for war. Just "Thou shalt not kill." Period. If we do it so easily--no wonder we have war and murderers who do the same.
(#1.10)
I never realized that dead people have faith. Also, dead people can't forgive. They may have had faith and the ability to forgive while alive but faith and forgiveness from them disappears with their final breath.
I wish they wouldn't execute people. The state has no legitimate authority to kill its own citizens. And no, I don't care how many people that man killed. I don't care if he killed 20 people. He has rights too and the state violated them by killing him. Revenge isn't in the interest of the state and it isn't justice.
The concept is ridiculous. Do as we say, not as we do...remember???
also, do you know that many true christians visit prisons everyday to provide spiritual counseling for these obviously messed up individuals? REAL christians try to help all of Gods people in need. God forgave murderers and sinners. many prisoners on death row have now changed and do have a personal relationship with god now and will go to heaven once they are executed. God forgives all sins even murder like it or not. that is what jesus came here for. REAL christians now they have to help these people and save them and bring them into alignment with the word of god. these christians do much more than your kind spewing hate behind the anonymity of a computer screen. your a christian? try acting like one and help all of gods creatures instead of spread hate.
THX- i think you have missed the whole point of the new testament. Jesus asked who can throw the first stone? he died for everyones sins including murderers. he hung out with sinners because they are the ones who need faith and healing the most. keeeep reading sir
Dissappointed and Ashamed
No I did not say I would forgive, I just don't think people should tell a person whether they should or should not forgive. That is a personal choice and the sisters both seem to have forgave their brother. I personally could never forgive something like that but I also would rather see the person suffer in prison rather than get death. I don't feel the way most feel about the death penalty. Not for the eye for an eye type of thing.....in death they are no longer having to suffer the consequences of their actions.
Jrad......I can guarantee if this happened to your family, you would change your way of thinking, So easy for you to say spare this POS's life. Do you have children? What if someone stabbed and killed your children in front of you? I would fight to the death for my kids. So sad you and every one of you who are preaching against the death penalty would stand by and watch your children die. Bunch of hypocrits!
bunkie11- did you read the article? it was their brother. this wasn't a random person. so to align your question correctly, you should ask everyone if they would have their BROTHER die from killing their kid. im not making a judgment either way. either way it sucks for these women and yes i have children to answer your question. there are moral arguments both ways but for someone to attack a persons character about an opinion just shows ignorance. no one has all the answers but many on here claim to be christian and clearly do not follow the bible. personally i would want someone to live their life in prison because death would be a release. this has nothing to do with having a kid or not.
My dad was in on the arrest of one of the worst serial killers of the 50s. His name was Jake Bird(the perp). He had over 40 axe murders in the Chicago area before he moved to Tacoma, Wash. He axed a mother and 17 yr old daughter there and went to trial in Oct 56(?) or 57. He was prononced guilty and sentenced to hang. They still hung in those days. How the appeals thing has changed is this.......His verdict was handed down in October and 9 months later, after ALL APPEALS WERE FINAL, in August he was toasted. So, it kinda makes me feel a little on the edgy side when I see guys like Bundy who get married and have kids on death row and get 20 + yrs of paid conjugal visitations and the like. There have been innocent executions but, when the crud is caught with stained and bloody clothes or in the act and no chance it could be anyone else....9 months works for me! And as far as the perps rights thing goes, he HAD RIGHTS, up until he displayed non-human and slaughter behavior!
This is a prime example of the ignorant comments from teabaggers who are giving the GOP a bad rep. Uninformed opinions from conformist, propaganda regurgitating sheep will be the death of Republicans!!! If you are going to present yourself as an individual thinker you have actually crack a book and do some research BEFORE just buying into whatever the party line tells you!
There have been plenty of examples of wrongfully convicted killers who were on death row and behind bars for decades before new evidence (including DNA proof) exonerated them. But screw those guys who didn't do it, right??? They are just collateral damage from your lynch mobs.
You can't fast track the death penalty based on what is simply public opinion on a so-called "open and shut case". Everyone goes through the same due process regardless of the validity of or overwhelming amount of evidence presented. Anyone who truly understands the Constitution (and doesn't just cite the amendments when they don't like something) would get that.
But your opinions would bring us back to the Dark Ages of "justice". You may not like the way things are, but concessions are usually made in order to ensure fairness in even the most exceptional situations. If you can't grasp that reality then you are not smart enough to decide who lives and who dies.
Should have been a single bullet to the back of the head over 20 years ago. Poor children didn't deserve this POS uncle.
I wish the governor of Oregon would take a lesson here! The reason it takes 20 or more years to fulfill the sentences of these dirtbags is because of all the appeals that are mandatory. Let's send 'em all to Texas and eliminate them in the express lane when they've been proven guilty with witnesses!!
Except if it's you, or one of yours!
Right on earthgirl. And NiteOwl do you really think Texas sentences and walks them out back the hang'in tree?
Trust me we don't just walk them out back to the hang'in tree...but we do have a reputation for that it seems.
We sure don't but people sure seem to think so.
If it was one of mine that killed my precious babies, only 2 years old, to five years old, I would be in the jail. It would be me locked away for 20 years. Whiners and cry babies, and warped people want to SAVE these monsters. How much money did he get? How little he valued the babies lives. Drugs have sentenced America to sick, sick, sick, non-human beings. Forgive??? Dr. Phil and Oprah can claim that for others but what if???........God forbid...
NiteOwl this guy is as guiltyas sin but it has beeen proven that eyewitnesses are notoriously unreliable - DNA is the best from what I gather.
Crystal-Clear,
I agree. If it had been my kids/grandkids, the POS wouldn't have made it to prison. Somehow, I would have gotten to him. They would have found pieces of him scattered throughout some woods with a tournicated and truncated body screaming till his last breath.......
In cases of clear guilt such as this, all appeals should be invalid, and the execution should occur within 6 months.
But lawyers gotta eat!
I do believe in due process, and I do think the appeals are in place for a reason. However, in the instances of direct evidence linked with eyewitnesses AND a full, voluntary confession when there is no "shadow of a doubt" that the person is guilty, their sentence should be carried out within 12 months at the absolute most. There are people who are wrongly convicted, and appeals are there for them to clear their names, but when it's a clear cut case, such as this one, then those appeals should be unavailable and sentencing carried out swiftly. As for the whole "I forgive him", maybe they do. I suspect in many cases that is being confused with "I will move past this". Thankfully my path doesn't tell me I have to love and forgive a true monster that murders my children and tries to kill me in order to be considered a "good" person!
All I have to say is THANKS FOR TAKING OUT THE TRASH!!!!!!!
MonkeyMo,
What's your criteria on a "clear cut case"? Because I guarantee anything you come up with can be refuted by defense attorneys. Even if they left that decision up to the jurors there is no absolute protection from people who might see circumstantial evidence as valid enough for an expedited death penalty and then you are right back to potentially killing innocent people!
You can't fast track the death penalty based on what is basically public opinion on a so-called "open and shut case". Everyone goes through the same due process regardless of the validity or overwhelming amount of evidence presented. Anyone who truly understands the Constitution would get that.
You may not like the way things are, but concessions are usually made in order to ensure fairness in even the most exceptional situations. It scares me that people who can't grasp that reality are actually allowed to vote.
This is a hard one today for the family but it would have been easier at the time I am sure as well as more justified then.
What is the quality of mercy in this instance? Remember, no one deserves mercy, otherwise its not mercy!
Full of drugs at the time or what? No detail that but highly likely either that or insane, in fact no detail other than there was no final meal.
Too long to wait on justice in this instance, for sure.
May God have mercy on his soul and comfort the family through another terrible event.
I am wondering why God should have 'mercy on her soul' as he had no mercy on his victims. What in the world are you talking about, 'Remember, no one deserves mercy, otherwise its not mercy!' Could you please clarify that?
Dragging a safe down the stairs. Money-the root of all evil? Not when blokes are eating peoples' faces and other body parts. There is no solution that will be right for all parties.
It is a necessary evil to let them be in jail for some time b4 their demise.
one day after convicted is long enough, the appeals process is a bunch of crap, at least 99%+ are quilty, the other 1 % collateral damage, so what, put the money it cost's to keep the convicted dirt bag lifer's, towards protecting our borders.have a national hanging day, i'm not afraid to say 100's of thousand's would show up for the party, have a roach cooch contest
Joe- the1: I liked your post. Mercy is not given because it's deserved; if so, we would all be in big trouble! Compassion is the catalyst for mercy!
Billy, Collateral damage? Easy to say until it's you some school points at says "he raped me" and off you go for 10 years.
Good job Mississippi. NEXT!
LOL...Before his demise....No soup for you
He got 20 more years of time on this earth than his nieces and nephews did. And to think that this guy wanted clemency! Thank goodness Barbour wasn't still in office, or he might be alive right now and about to get out of jail and run around murdering again.
A broad abroad ~~ The convicted killer did not ask for clemency...it was his sister who asked for clemency, even though she had been stabbed nearly to death by him. It was two of her little children he stabbed to death. MONSTER!
He needs to be gone, and he is. It's sad for the family all the way around, no matter how you look at it. Life is no longer the same for any of them. So very sad :-(
@Reni--OK, I stand corrected on that. I was certain I had read several days ago about his lawyer putting in a plea for clemency, but I guess it was his sister's lawyer. At any rate, he is gone. Good riddance, as far as I'm concerned.
Doesn't matter who wanted the clemency. What matters is, it wasn't granted, & this dirt bag got what he deserved. As a parent, myself, I would never forgive someone for killing my babies, doesn't matter if they were "blood" or not. Even if they truly forgave him, they should just "be happy" he got to live 20 or so years longer then those poor children did. They should realize, if they don't, that he's the one that caused/is causing all this pain on their family, he's the one who changed everything for them, noone else. Again, like I said, I could never bring myself to forgive anyone for taking my babies away from me like that. It would be horrible going thru life everyday wondering what they would be doing or what kind of person they would have been. Horrible horrible thing this "man" did, as stealing from his own mother wasn't enough, he also "stole" from his sisters, he stole their babies from them. He got what he deserved, better late then never.
I'm surprised Haley Barbour didn't give him a full pardon like he did for the other murderers.
i'm surprised obama didn't marry him...he's for that type of thing these days...
Amen to that SCOOTER-3827831
Thank god those children were protected by god...errr....wait a minute. god didn't protect them, did he? Ergo, god is not real.
This bastard should have been killed a long time ago.
KS12 - Not to start a religious argument here or anything, but God's not a genie in a bottle, let out when someone needs Him and then put back. Everyone has free will, unfortunately even scumbags that commit murder. We all make our own choices now, and face God later. (or not, if you don't believe in that)
But I do agree with you that this scumbag should have executed a long time ago.
We are supposed to care for our children. We are supposed to take care of the environment and when we do, we are taken care of by our earth mother. For those who have a problem with 'earth mother', it is the earth that supplies us the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we need to survive. When we do our part then the Creator does his part. When someone murders, pollutes then we need to 'judge' them so that others understand it is not acceptable to continue on that same path.
The children, who are innocent at that age, are in Heaven. God did protect them, with the blood of his Son, Jesus, who died for our sins.
momof2boys: AMEN! I couldn't have said it any better! May they rest is peace.
KS712 prove to me that God isn't real, I have faith and if he isn't real then it made more tolerable of people who so blatantly want to bash people who believe in what they choose.
Isn't it strange how those who claim to be non-believers get so uptight when someone who does believe says anything about their beliefs? They have the right to not believe if they chose but are ready and willing to knock down and ridicule someone else who does. It makes me wonder if maybe when they are facing death if they change their minds, or still claim they are nothing but a pile of minerals and some water.
MARTY-3578909--That's 90% water
Marty: I do believe they would change their mind in the midst of death or something similar. It's sad it would take something so extreme for them to accept the love of God!
KS712: God loves you even though you don't believe in him. He will accept you, just as you are! He is a friend that will stick closer than a brother!
That's 'ugly bags of mostly water.'
lol awful timing for humor - but that was good
this sob should of been stabbed or knifes as many times as he did all the children I mean they get straped to a gurny and their pair is thought about what about the pain these children faced or the fear they went through the justic system is just so messed up and those sister how could they fight for his life if he took their kids i would of ended it for him.
I mean pain
Someone of a 'sound mind' would not request clemency for a person that committed such heinous acts. It is unfortunate but he can die only once. The sister and brother-in-law must understand that their brother must die so that he can never ever do this again. And no, he is not supposed to be taken care of by the 'people'. They are going to have go through it again because the so-called 'justice system' isn't so just when it comes to carrying out swift 'judgement'. Maybe they need to work toward that end so others do not have to go through what they are going through.
Glad to know this MF is dead as a rock!
He deserved a much worse death than he got.
Just think, the sisters of the child he slaughtered wanted the tax payers to keep paying for this POS for the rest of his life.
Evil must run in the family because anyone that would want someone who was that evil to continue to breath the same air as they are is just as evil as he was.
I don't give a flying Frink what sad, sop story this guy had. He is where he should have been 20 years ago.
Really Steven100? Since when did willingness to forgive become an act of evil? The article did say that they family wanted him in prison for life. Sure it will cost the taxpayers some money but how much are we saving now that he is dead? That argument is moot. Prisons will always be populated and we will always have to pay to support them.
The only person to have peace and freedom is the dead brother. The sisters will have the memories of their murdered chidren and now their brother to live with forever. What do you think is worse? Death? or living with the memory of killing another every moment? especially as in this case, the young children to which he said to one of them, he loved her. To live with your own thoughts of murder every moment of every day, behind bars, at the beck and call of another, is a slow, torturous death. To be executed is freedom from...
Steven: You posted: "Evil must run in the family because anyone that would want someone who was that evil to continue to breath the same air as they are is just as evil as he was."
Why is your comment allowed? Where are the censors for these postings? You are attacking a family directly. Your post goes against the rules, kiddo. WE don't allow personal attacks here.
Ditto
Earthgirl, seems like you are doing the same thing. You are personally attacking steven!
Earthgirl, for some people you would be correct - living with the memories of what you've done every day would be torture. But what you may not realize (and trust me, this is a good thing!) is that for sociopaths, they have no conscience. They don't care, and their past actions simply do not bother them.
I agree with Earth Girl and What 4099780.......living with the memory of what they did is how it should be....and as for MonkeyMo there is not enough information in this story to know if this is a sociopath or if he was on drugs or drunk.....etc.....We don't know if he had remorse or not either. This story has many unanswered questions as usual because the media loves to stir up controversy with little information.
one million four hundred thousand plus tax payer dollars to keep the retarded murdering ape in jail for twenty years that could have gone to hospitals, schools, food for the underprivileged families
Killing you family when caught stealing from your mother... what part of africa did this american learn this from
God bless the little children
Honest abe you pale face subhumanoid caveman you just had to go and link it to race you stupid inbred cracker, I wonder what cave your your ancestor came from you gran POS, maybe he should have stabbed you in the mouth and cut your fingers off so you couldn't type out your stupid as thought. Racist inbred!
Marvin,
Abe has a point. I mean, the guy was black!
So we attack stupidity with stupidity, Marvin he accomplished what he wanted to do. He pulled you down to his level, or is this the normal thoughts you have of white people. What is to say he isn't asian or middle eastern.
Yup, the good old days, when crazy meant you just killed everybody who stood in your way of getting money for drugs. sigh.
However, as governor, I have the duty to see that justice is carried out." Bull sh1t. It would have been justice 20 years ago. Now it's just putting out the trash. Justice delayed is justice denied. I would like those wanting to keep these type of animals alive for decades after conviction to get the bill for their upkeep.
they do ...it's called taxes...
This ONE thing I know.....He'll never kill no one else again..
just glad to know this POS / MF is dead. somebody take out the damned trash.....
"Forgive and you will in turn be forgiven" - can't imagine anything harder to forgive then this. That is what salvation is, you did not deserve it, earn it or can ever atone for your sins, it's all mercy and grace and free for all who are willing to surrender to Him
Salvation? This person crossed the line when he murdered. If the Creator wants to give him 'salvation' in the next life that is certainly his right but in this one he has to die. Or maybe according to your interpretation of christianity we should just open the doors and let all these evildoers out so they can have a party and maybe murder your family?
Yo birdie-brain, what kind of vacation bible school did you go to? When last I checked, salvation was achieved by accepting JC as savior. Do the words "I am the way, the truth, and the light" ring a bell? And it was rumored in the bible that god was judge not low-life internet trolls. If you were an HONEST believer, you would know the scripturess AND practice them as well. You would not be a stumbling block. As you spew your ignorance and hate, you do the devil's work in the name of JC. Guess what moron...YOU are an evildoer. Theology dictates that heaven will be filled with evildoers as everyone sins. That is everyone except you oh holier than though birdie!! Yep. in heaven, you will dwell amongst murders, rapists, thieves, substance users/abusers, chomos, and any other non-desirable (in your eyes) who have accepted JC as savior. And you have no say so in the matter. I bet that fact burns you up. How can god almighty let scum live next to you in heaven when you lived a perfect holy angelic life. OMG, you might even wind up with homosexuals in heaven too!! Perish the thought!! You bird-brain are emperical proof of "christianity" as a failure.
Birdie: Sorry to tell ya but, if he had not have been executed, he could have salvation even after committing a murder IN THIS LIFE!
Who said let him out and have a party? I don't believe anyone thinks that way! He did some horrible things but he can still be forgiven and saved (if he were still alive). Whether you like it or believe it, doesn't make it any less true.
The same goes for you: Salvation is free and given no matter what your past is! That's the power of the blood of Christ. He shed his blood for you and me and even this horrible monster.
You can forgive someone and still see them punished. Good parents do it regularly to their children. They won't hold it against the kid forever that they broke mom's favorite plate or crashed the car but they're still going to make them pay to replace it, ground them, etc. You can likewise execute a murderer without harboring hatred toward him for the rest of your life.
The system is screwed up, why was this piece of garbage allowed to live for 20 yrs. should have been executed the day after the verdict.
Just another "opressed" pos should of died a painful death.not one that puts him to sleep with nopain
What is wrong with you, even the family members who were affected asked he not be put to death! Did killing him miraculously resurrect the victims? I think not!
I see the "christians" are up early this morning.
every morning :-) Have a great day!
So, do I say the "liberal" is up early today? Being a christian has nothing to do with this. I try every day, to live by the Word, but could I forgive even a brother for killing my kids for money? As a registered Dem. but a full fledged Independent (you have to be registered ) to vote I want to thank people like you who make it easy for the men behind the curtain who pull the strings of our puppets in public office while rome burns. (clap, clap, clap) I got a hot tip for you-the far right laughs at people like you and coming from the heartland, and I am serious when I say this-most people are liberal minded where I live, but will never buy into your unicorn fantasy world.
Live life so when you wake up in the morning and your feet hit the floor, satan says "damn, she's awake".
Looking around at this world I don't believe that satan is all that worried about christians supposedly being 'awake' and that is a tragedy.
I LOVE THIS SAYING - Live life so when you wake up in the morning and your feet hit the floor, satan says "damn, she's awake".
Also, I love how the family forgave him because they did say one truth - forgive or you won't be forgiven by God. We all do wrong/sin but it is only one person that can punish all of us for our sins and that's God so don't get mad because his family forgave him (that is to the ones that are mad at the family for forgiving him) they are just doing what the Lord said do. Let God deal with him and I guarantee you that the punishment God gives is nothing like we the people here on earth can give.
God Bless this family!
Sam: Well said. You're in for it now!
The christians are cranky because they haven't had their coffee yet.
Christians LOVE capital punishment. Without it there would be no Easter.
The Land of Dixie. Precious.
Yep...This scum bag should have been in Texas...
His waiting line would have been shorter...Next..!
A public hanging 20 years ago would have been a better way to dispose of this trash.
I think it is horrible that this piss poor country would wait 22 years to put someone to death for these type of crimes. It is a joke. It is such a jobe that he was even tired of waiting.
smitty03281964 ~~ I tend to agree with you. HOWEVER, there have been a number of INNOCENT people who have been in prison for 15, 17, 20+years. Then it's found out by DNA that they are INNOCENT. Of course this guy was proved to be as guilty as the day is long. One of his victims being his SISTER lived, to tell the tale.
The reason he was on death row for so long is because there is the law of APPEAL. Every person convicted has the right to an appeal, and those take lots of time. In this case however, it was pretty much a slam dunk that he was GUILTY, but even at that, the law is FOR EVERYONE, not just a select few. EVERYONE gets an opportunity for appeal, whether they deserve it or not.
THAT'S WHAT OUR TAX DOLLARS ARE FOR PEOPLE! To protect and confine the condemned, by keeping them incarcerated and away from the community, fix roads, pay for police, keep our parks and road sides looking neat etc, etc.
Reni - you mean our tax dollars are there to enrich attorneys and the prison industry.
Under the guise of public safety, of course.
the family members should have been allowed to stone him to death in public- this guy was below a low life
I go along with the stoning by the family members, who, in the bible were called the 'avengers of blood'. There were 'cities of refuge' where, if the person was innocent, they could live until proven innocent and the 'hot blood' of the family members had cooled so they could listen to reason. Not every family member was an 'avenger of blood' but there were those within the family 'clan' who had the responsibility of taking care of those who 'crossed the line' and took the innocent lives of others.
And that is why it will never work. They then become what they try to rid the earth of.
They got the headline wrong.
It should say, "Mississippi (ANIMAL) executed". I still get surprised as to what some people (animals) can do to children or other humans. Plain ol' sick.
It cost the taxpayers aprox. 30.4 million to keep him off the streets for 22 yrs. Not to mention, the excecution probably cost over a million bucks. WTF man!
I agree, Creek Dog. On the flip side, bullets and rope are cheap.
Farmall48, agree. I am an Oliver man myself. See America, two parties CAN work together.
Creek Dog, why don't you give the animals more respect then this...eh
If This Passes, There Will Be A Civil War
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back
launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance
critics said gave every nation a veto.
The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position
of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds
that national controls were better.
On Wednesday, Obama took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States.
The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US
citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations.
By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State
Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these
international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments.
These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations
and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended
to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms.
The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict
major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama
can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the
United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State,
Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that
mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates
in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has
signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will
wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm
ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that
requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction
center or face imprisonment.
This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the
Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control.
Please forward this message to others who may be concerned about the direction in which our country
is headed.
We are being led like a lamb to the slaughter (Socialism/Dictatorship).
Ah, Stonepipe, I'm also an admirer of Olivers. I see we both have good taste in tractors and murderer extermination.
Creek - and how many millions went into the pockets of attorneys during his endless 'appeals'?
Seems to me someone could sure write laws to pad their own pockets, couldn't they.
30 million? I didn't see that number...
Very sad.Regardless. Those two sisters believe that their children are in a better place. That God is watching over them. Their faith needs for them to forgive him. That should be the focus. What's done is done. They are amazing women. These two could have been very scorned women who fell into all kinds of things..Especially alcoholism and drug addiction.. nothing like carrying that down the family line..But they are not. They faced all of this courageously. Their story should be the entire FOCUS.
VERY WELL SAID
Him not being on this planet amongst us anymore should also be the focus. F... him for what he did. Shame in Mississippi for waiting 22 years to carry out justice.
@ cdee12120 - I AGREE VERY WELL SAID!
@smitty: The wheels of justice grind VERY SLOWLY, and not just in Mississippi! So point the finger of blame at Mississippi, if you will, but then pls show me a state in the U.S.--one that still has the death penalty, that is--that isn't hampered by the same bureaucracy and guidelines, etc in carrying out these executions.
I wish these kind of sentences were carried out more quickly but unfortunately, that's not the case. However, at least Mississippi still has the death penalty, unlike Connecticutt, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont and Illinois, just to name a few states that abolished the death penalty. In the latter states, you as a taxpayer have the "joy and responsibility" of feeding, clothing, educating and providing medical care to these criminals for the rest of their lives.
I feel the death penalty system should be overhauled because of judicial racism.. Yes, more than 20 years before putting a murderer to death is excessive but I am also reminded of the hundreds of others formerly on death row and slated for execution who have been proven to be innocent through DNA testing and appeals process.
God sure wasn't watching over the kids when this guy took out his knife, was He?
peteMT.....Why do you hate religion so much? I am not a religious person but I certainly don't feel hatred for those who are. What has made you this way? You know we may be right, but they also may be right. No one really knows. I hope you are able to get past your hatefulness.
@cdee12120, how do you know the sisters are not alcoholics or drug abusers? Do you know them? Or does it say this anywhere in this story? "What's done is done?" Really? Had any of those children been yours, would you still say that? I only agree with one thing you said, this is an incredibly sad situation, regardless of all the other factors. But if the sisters have chosen to forgive their brother for killing their own children, that is their choice, but they certainly cannot blame the governor, the judges, or the entire judicial system for the fact that their brother was executed. The only one to blame is their brother.
I am glad this POS has finally been sent home. Home to his place along side the Devil to burn in hell.
SRScott - no hate at all! Just asking objective questions. I think most religious people are just in some sort of denial, and many who post here come off as smug and not particularly intelligent, which amuses me.
Nobody does know, and that's the great mystery! But we can hope!
dman-353357, No doubt, this was a heinous crime that Mr. Jackson committed. However, when it comes to instituting Capital Punishment, it is absurd to state that there should be a time limit on the appeals process. Irrefutable data has shown that innocent people probably have been executed in this country. If a person is guilty of a crime, they can rot in prison. However, if a person is innocent and sentenced to death, once executed, there is no way to bring that individual back.
peteMT, How do you define "intelligent?" Do you define the unintelligent as people who do not agree with you. By any reasonable standard, that would not seem to be logical. As with every other group of people, some religious people are smart, some are not...
gazer - When I see terrible grammar and spelling skills coupled with a clear lack of reasoning and rational thought, that tips me off that we're not dealing with the sharpest tools in the shed. There's a lot of that on these boards even without considering the religious angle. Also, in my experience, the more educated the individual, the less likely they are to be religious.
It doesn't have anything to do with not agreeing with me, but rather everything to do with clearly stating your position and being able to back it up with facts.
Which, in the case of religion, other than millenia of oppression and butchery and intolerance, are pretty thin.
