Zimmerman's $99 jail shopping list includes Cheez-Its and Pop-Tarts

George Zimmerman has stocked his 67-square-foot cell with a pantry-full of snack food, plus pens, postal cards, toiletries and underwear, according to an inventory obtained by NBC News.

Zimmerman placed the order Tuesday through the jailhouse commissary during his second full day back in custody at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Fla.

The order came to a total of $98.90. His remaining balance is $395.10.

Snacks included, among other food, two orders of White Cheddar Cheez-Its, two orders of Fritos, two orders of Cheetos, four orders of Big Grandma’s chocolate chip cookies, one order of Animal Snackers cookies, two packages of Twix, one package of Peanut M&M’s, and five packages of Strawberry Pop-Tarts.

Zimmerman, confined to solitary and denied a television, apparently plans to spend some of his time writing to loved ones. The inventory lists the following postal cards as separate line items:

CARD W/STAMP – MISSING YOU

CARD W/STAMP – THINKING OF Y

CARD W/STAMP – WITH LOVE

The list shows Zimmerman bought two of each card, plus pens, golf pencil, stamped envelopes and a legal pad.

The order also included thermal tops and bottoms, t-shirts and briefs, plus two orders of ibuprofen, five orders of multivitamin pills, two orders of decongestant and antacid tabs, and Irish Spring soap and Mennen deodorant.

Zimmerman returned to jail Sunday afternoon after a judge revoked his bail two days before, having found that Zimmerman and his wife had misled the court about their finances. Zimmerman earlier pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the Feb. 26 shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin in a case that has triggered a nationwide debate about whether race factored into the shooting.

NBC News / John E. Polk Correctional Facility

George Zimmerman had a balance of $500 when he was booked in jail on Sunday; by Wednesday, he spent $99 on various items including Cheetos, Cheez-Its and underwear.

when you go out looking to become a hero, you end up killing an innocent child...

Well, with all the bad news for Obama in the past five days, can you blame MSNBC for trying to distract the public with foolishness like this?

1) Unemployment in May not only increasing but the past March and April reports shown to be false,

2) Reporting Obama's use of cocaine buried in the Washington Post on page 6, ignored by the media,

3) Walker winning in a landslide over the Union Bosses in Wisconsin,

4) Intense criticism of Obama's lack of support to Barrett in Wisconsin, despite his pledge to "put on a pair of comfortable shoes and walk a picket line with Union members if anyone tried to remove their collective bargaining rights".

5) Bill Clinton's rebuke of Obama for his attacks on Bain Capital, calling Romney's conduct "sterling".

6) The revelation of the Media's complicity with Democrats in Wisconsin with pathetic reporting of "exit polls" and reporting the "race was evenly split" to help motivate Democratic voters

7) The physical assault on Tom Barrett by a Democrat after his concession speech

8) The vile racist rants and death threats against Walker by dejected Democrats.

The list could go on and on, but thankful our national disgrace of electing the most unqualified person in history as President will end in January 2013.

Advice to Jamie Novogrod (author of said article): WRITE WHEN THERE IS SOMETHING THAT IS ACTUALLY GOING ON. I would say write only if there is something newsworthy, but that would be like asking a barber if he thinks you need a haircut.

And whoever authorized it for publication should be joining them as well. What a disgrace, embarrassment, and not to mention the decline of this profession.. This article completely unworthy of publication.

Mr. Zimmerman's process for ordering from the commissary is NO different that of any other inmate. Thank goodness NBC isn't chasing down ALL of the inmates purchases!

This man, contrary to others beliefs, is innocent under the law until proven otherwise. LEAVE him alone....

John, a suspect is "presumed" innocent until "proven" guilty.

Stoopid prosecutors and effective defense attorneys do not mean that a person is innocent. Likewise, coerced confessions and railroaded defendants are not "guilty," they are just found guilty.

Zimm is guilty, it's just a matter of if he will be convicted. I hope they arrest his wife for perjury too!

Well it just goes to show that people like Zimmerman that live off junk food are totally effed up in the head.

I knew a guy in Ca that ate junk food and the older he got, the weirder he started to act. He began acting paranoid and thinking that back people were out to get him because he had a new car.

He ended up in a mental ward for a few mths, and then came out ok, ate differently and was on some meds, but as soon as he began eating all this crap at 7?11 and McD's he began to show the signs all over again, and still on his meds. His parents and I agreed it's the crap that people eat that can affect on how a person thinks and act out in public.

It's all those chemicals in the food people are eating that is messing with these people's heads and their ability to think or rationalize things clearly.

    #1.52 - Wed Jun 6, 2012 11:52 PM EDT

You are stupid as hell and have no idea about the law, or how it works. You also have no idea what self defense means either. The only thing he is guilty of is not double tapping that punk, instead of only shooting him once. That is what I would have done had he attacked me like that. The only reason he is even on trial is because of an over zealous prosecutor giving into public pressure, and wanting to make a name for herself. This case should have never been sent to trial, and also should have been dismissed for the State withholding evidence that will eventually exonerate Mr Zimmerman. Look at all the hundreds of thousands of dollars coming into his defense fund you idiot, and tell me how can that many people, including lawyers, and law enforcement officers (like me) who know the law inside and out, can be wrong and you can be right. Sorry about the run on sentences, but idiots like you just make me angry because you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground! This person he shot was way bigger than George Zimmerman, and definitely would not be considered a child. He also (had he not died) would have most likely went to an adult prison for battery at a minimum, and maybe even for murder had GZ not been packing a pistol he would have likely killed him. In the 911 tape GZ is calling for help 26 times! How in the hell is that not self defense? Also, for all you idiots that keep saying the cops told him to stay away from Martin, you need to realize that it was a dispatcher, who most likely has very little law enforcement training. You also don't have to follow their direction if your life is endangered, or you believe there is a crime about to be committed. Well, you don't have to listen to them period if you don't want to. They are not at your location and cannot give you orders on what to do. It is not like a real cop is on scene saying don't do this or that, it is a dispatcher/911 operator. lol, you going to do everything some dip@!$%# is telling you to do on the phone? Then you are a huge idiot. lol

That extremely generous defense fund finally pays off. We have very young patriotic soldiers in Afghanistan that would have very much appreciated such a bounty of snacks from home in the form of a care package. Can you imagine the delight in their eyes as they tore into a familiar pack of Cheeto's for the first time in a long time? I'm betting they would pass that bag to share with their many brothers in arms. How many of you think Georgie Z. did the same?

It's astounding how many jumped on this article immediately to post their distaste for the article. Do none of you have lives of your own? My first thought was to pass it by as irrelevant until my curiosity demanded I look for none other than you. Here you are! My curiosity is now sated. You did not disappoint. I will leave you now to ponder a most difficult quandary.

Many of us ascribe to the theory that Z. was a troubled wanna-be cop that pushed the envelope too far and murdered an innocent kid. Many of us ascribe to the theory that Z. was an upstanding citizen merely defending his community and himself with a license to carry a concealed fire-arm against a dangerous thug. This article suggests we may all be mistaken.

Z's latest actions may suggest that he was only after Martin's boxers, Skittles and iced tea. If only some of you had donated much sooner, Z. might be a free man today and Martin still alive. Ah well, a dollar short and a day late comes to mind. Maybe next time.

I wonder if his lawyer advised him not to include Arizona Iced Tea or Skittles? It isn't a joke...defense attorneys advise defendants against doing all sorts of things. I do agree it would not have looked good, even if they were available and he wanted them. Strange how perceptions that small can impact the outcome of a trial.

      @louva,

Maybe you missed the part where the cop told Zimmerman not to follow the kid. And ummmmmmm how was Zimmerman's life in danger? I thought he followed Martin, and if as you said he doesn't have to listen to the authorities then he couldn't have possibly thought his life was in danger.

In the 911 tape GZ is calling for help 26 times!

And what exactly does that prove Mr. law enforcement man, nothing except he there are definitely some loose screws in his dome. Calling 911 that many times don't you think at lease one of those times the police got the message? So now that makes you and idiot defending an idiot.

First of all who do you think the dispatcher is? And once again how was Zimmerman's life in danger, he was sitting in his car watch an African American kid walk back to where he belong with a hoodie on in the rain. And what crime about to be committed? There's no law against walking in the rain. George Zimmerman prejudged an innocent child and murdered him and for that he is going to pay for the crime he committed.

So what he has lots of money coming in from others on the outside in his defense, that proves nothing. Except, now that you have mention it, isn't that why the judge revoke his bail? Maybe had he not lied about his many of followers that supports him financially he might not be in jail as it stands. And since he has so many smart lawyers and law enforcers funding him, how come none of them thought to tell him not to lie to a judge. I mean these are people who knows the law inside and out like yourself. Maybe because they too are not the sharpest tool in the shed just like yourself. So stop pretending you are in law enforcement, but then who will know? You're hiding behind your computer screen so you can pretend to be anything you like. And those run-on sentences are a reflection of who you really are, not to bright and emotionally invested into something you have no control over. So find a new word for your two word vocabulary (IDIOT AND STUPID) and then you won't have to get so emotional. You poor thing, well look at the bright side Zimmerman finally realizes that his effects to say the world was just not the right thing to do especially if he has to take an innocent child's life. Oh well enough said I need to move on to bigger and better things now, you should think about doing the same. ijs

Farhan Smith I am sure that even if Zimmerman loved Arizona Iced Tea and Skittles, and had they been available...his defense attorney would have strongly advised him against it, and his advice would have been smart. We can pick some of the smallest things to analyze!

BTW. You are advocating a man not proven guilty die anyhow 'just in case.' Good thing that is not standard practice...although Farhan, it may be in some other countries.

To me, he looked the same as he did on the night of Trayvon's murder, from the photos and video I have seen of him from that night. When he was finally arrested the first time, he had, IMO, purposefully lost weight during those many weeks prior to the first arrest. I think he did that in order to have people assume that Trayvon was a much larger person than the murderer. The suit he wore in court then was ill-fitting and not only due to him being shackled. He went on a diet to lose the weight, then just like many who diet, he gained the weight back. C'mon, this guy ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. He is a tool though. A murdering one. I'm hoping he will get everything that he so richly deserves.

Hey Cameron- aren't you forgetting our legal system's basic operating principle? He hasn't been tried yet. He has the right to privacy. You have tried and convicted him without the benefit of the law. Every day, more evidence surfaces that leads to an ever-increasing doubt as to his being guilty of murder. Stupidity for following Trayvon after being told "We don't need you to do that", but murder, maybe not.

Why the hell is he in solitary? Why is he denied a TV? He IS, after all, INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!! I can understand if the solitary is for his "protection" from run of the mill scumbags he is being forced to be among, but why forbid him a TV? Charles @!$%#ing Manson gets a TV.

"Every day, more evidence surfaces that leads to an ever-increasing doubt as to his being guilty of murder." This is very interesting. Can you list some of the evidence?

"Why the hell is he in solitary? Why is he denied a TV?" Why are you so concerned about the conditions THIS particular man is dealing with when there are thousands of others in the same boat as Zimmerman. They don't matter? They are not proven guilty yet.

Except there is one thing Zimmerman has been proven guilty of. That would be COMTEMPT OF COURT, lieing to the judge and concealing his true financial status in order to get a lower bail set while at the same time making certain he had second passport handy for the flight out of the country he may have been needing it for.

@S Jr, WTH are you talking about? The murderer lied (maybe for you, omitted to tell the truth, is a better phrase) about the money that was available to him and more importantly, had a second passport that he conveniently forgot to mention and TURN IN as he was required to do. The murderer could say that he had no money on Monday, knowing he had the potential to get out of jail on a much lowered bond amount and have a secret, second passport with which to flee at some point in time should he get the notion, on Tuesday. Ooh, ooh, here's another one for you. "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today." If you are of a certain age, you might know that saying comes from Popeye's friend, Wimpy. It makes about as much sense as what you stated in your post

Consider it- So contempt of court is an offense worthy of solitary confinement? As to the thousands of people confined the same way prior to their trial- when have we been told told what they are accused of, had their purchases from the commisary listed in the news, and had thousands try and convict them prior to their trial? Since I am a firm believer in restitution, execution, or expulssion from the country rather than prison, I never support prison sentences RSPECIALLY when handd down by a judge PRIOR to a trial.

Sandie- it isn't murder until/unless he gets convicted.

Consider it- on evidence- Broken nose, gashes in the back of his head, eyewitnesses who saw him on the ground with Martin on top, Martin's history of gang-related behavior, bruises and broken skin on Martin's knuckles. All of these suggest that Zimmerman WAS attacked by Martin, leading to a legitimate self defense case. Unarmed or not, an attack is defensible by lethal force.

Now, I happen to believe Zimmerman acted stupidly when he ignored the 911 dispatcher's poorly phrased suggestion to not follow Martin, this would not have happened. And had the dispatcher said "DO NOT FOLLOW him anymore" rather than "We don't need you to follow him anymore", this would be a different situation. Unfortunately, the dispatcher left it up to Zimmerman by being so vague.

THis case is a very dark comedy of errors in the true meaning of the phrase- a series of errors by three different people. The dispatcher did a poor job of making himself clear. Zimmerman did stupid (but entirely legal) thing by following Martin. Martin MAY have done a very stupid thing (attacking Zimmerman IF he actually did) after being followed on a perfectly legal stroll after getting some skittles. And a tragedy followed. But whose fault it was and whther it was murder remains to be seen. In the long run, however. George Zimmerman is innocent until PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW according to the laws of our country.

@Neale Osborne, I am sure you are well aware that many, many murders have been committed without the perpetrator being caught. So, according to your "logic" if someone commits a murder and does not get convicted, then said murder never happened. There is still someone who is dead by the hand of someone else. For future reference, please consider what you are saying prior to posting.

                #6.12 - Fri Jun 8, 2012 3:27 AM EDT

I carefully considered what i was sayng, and your comment is ridiculous. ONCE ARRESTED, a citizen in this country is considered innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court of law. Even a confessed murderer is innocent until th confession is accepted by the courts. I said EXACTLY what I meant. George Zmmerman has been arrested and chraged with 2nd Degree Murder. He has NOT been convicted. Until he is, he is, in fact, innocent of murder under the laws of our country. Hence, solitary confinement is not appropriate unless it is to protect him from other prisoners who may beat or kill him because, like you, they have tried and convicted him wothout benefit of trial. Denying him a television is ALSO not appropriate, as he is, again, innocent until PROVEN GUILTY in a court of law.

I repeat, I said exactly what I meant to say, in the exact way I said it. Do not attempt to parse my language.

Jackie Wilson, the dead kids mother lost a son that she gave up on. She packed him up and sent him to live with his pops when she lost control of him. His thieving, drug addicted, destruction of property, assaulting other citizens got him one in the chest. If his Momma or pops gave a crap, they could have stepped in and saved the kid. But both were too busy thinking about themselves and "gettin theirs" to worry about a kid they brought into the world. The people who are really to blame here are the dead kids PARENTS. Or whatever you called two disgusting pieces of dook who allow their kid to become a thug and a drug addicted criminal.

I am wondering if your parents were in the same circumstances would you have been shipped off? Perhaps I am expecting too much from too little. Truth is who gives a FU^& why he was where he was. You nor T. Martin deserve to be shot. Shooting a person to death makes Zimm a murderer. If you do not want to accept the legal concept, consider the moral concept. I think it says something about you, what comments you have to offer the conversation, just like it says something about our culture when we need to debate if killing another person is morally permissable.

Ask yourself is it better the be the offender, or the offended?

P.S. who cares what that wanker ordered from canteen? Atleast he cannot lie to the court anymore.

                  @K-524075,

Judging from your comment I'm thinking you knew this poor kids parents personally? Who in the hell was addicted to drugs. The toxicology report came back with small traces of marijuana in his system nothing to indicate him of smoking it that day. And a thug? Listen, its obvious that you may be suffering from post dramatic stress disorder because of what probably happened to you as a child but believe it or not they have people that can help you with your displaced feelings. Aside from sounding retarded you also sound angry and this is your way of lashing out. GET HELP!!!

His thieving, drug addicted, destruction of property, assaulting other citizens got him one in the chest. If his Momma or pops gave a crap, they could have stepped in and saved the kid. But both were too busy thinking about themselves and "gettin theirs" to worry about a kid they brought into the world.

I guess it's safe to say you have no morals and or respect for a child's life that was taken unexpectedly by a fool who thought he could take the law into his own hands. Trayvon Martin's mother and father are not to blame, let's place the blame where it really belong and that would be GEORGE ZIMMERMAN. And just for the record had that poor child's mother and father been there to step in as you put it Zimmerman probably would have shot them as well. Your comment was brutal, senseless, and morally disgusting. I wonder if this were your child would you feel the same way? You must really have the blackest heart ever, which is why it was so easy for you to be inhuman and in-compassionate. I hope nothing happens to one of your love ones to this magnitude because I am more then certain your thoughts would be totally different and you would be crushed if someone else said the same things about you child. Have a heart and if that's to hard for you to do at lease have enough common sense and decency to keep your ugly thoughts to yourself. Karma has a way of painting vivid pictures for those who think they are untouchable, just remember that.

Whoever released this to the media needs to be fired. I've heard about the Freedom of Information Act and certain documents being in the "public records" but this is ridiculous. Guilty or not (not yet determined) some things still should remain private and there is no reason for the public to know (or even care) about this sort of thing.

They did the same thing with Casey Anthony. In jail or prison, you are a ward of the State, so everything you do is public.

Not when they are owned and paid for by the public. Our tax dollars are paying for his room and board, so we are entitled to know how he (or any other prisoner) spends his time (and money). Prisoners give up their privacy rights when they commit their crimes.

                      1) this stuff was paid for by Zimmerman himself. No tax payer funds are used for commissary items.

Why is he being denied TV. Is he the only one and, if so, why? They treat death row inmates better. Oh, NBC never tells the full story or follows up on any story. They need better reporters and reporting. Only Brian Williams has anything to offer on the network. And PLEASE stop showing the pic of Martin as a kid . Tell it like it is on both sides. Not favoring either side just the truth.

Solitary is for punishment when you break the rules, so there is no TV in that area. He is being isolated from general population for his own protection, so there is no where else to put him but solitary.

Solitary is also used for protection--the inmate may request isolation (PC) and I am sure that GZ would do just that rather than face the general population, many of whom are black.

A simple way of the media to cause a sympathetic reaction from the public toward Trayvon Martin. The folks who find outrage in this (and there will be plenty, and you know who you are) are falling victim to media influence. But how can you blame them. They are the same people who will listen to news outlet and not go read or investigate for themselves. They take information at face value while succumbing to the subliminal emotional manipulation. (Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but media outlets have studied our reactions to shows, commercials, and movies for over half a century. Perfecting the delivery system to cause the largest emotional reaction to their profitable messages.)

Don't let them play you like a violin. Don't be a sucker.

Shorthand. Who gives a flying rats tail-end as to what a prisoner has in his cell from the commissary. He is still innocent until otherwise proven by a court of law and jury of his peers. (By the way I did not see anything too outrageous or over the top. Did you?)

I liked the msnbc story most like to forget about Tray Martin being suspended from school numerous times like all normal 17 year olds, and having drugs in his system, I live near the projects here in Brooklyn, half my family have been victims of crime--sometimes violent and all too often the perps resemble kids like Tray Martin--and even younger than he, and its obvious many in the pro-Tray crowd are not homeowners, I would only wish upon them how it feels to find someone in your home who does not belong there. No amount of marches will change our minds that we have to believe he is an innocent 17 year old when we see monsters as young as 12 coming out of the projects where we live.

I agree with this to an extent. Msnbc forces me to look at their headlines after I log out of hotmail. I've checked the settings and there is no way around this so I am forced to look at their stupid yet sometimes amusing headlines and the worst business section out of all the major websites. Because I've had a hotmail address since 1997 and everyone emails me at this address I feel like my options are limited. Not that I'm saying people should slam MSNBC for every bad article they write (which would be a full time job) but I think MSNBC is partly to blame for not giving people the option to opt out of seeing their headlines after you logout of hotmail or live. I think that this is turn just entices people to gear their anger and frustration toward them but I could be wrong.

Martin was a junior in high school, math was his favorite subject, and he
earned A's and B's. He played on the high school football team, was
studying to be an engineer, was interested in flying, and attended
flying school part time, he had no criminal record nor any history of
violence. Zimmerman supporters state that Martin was a thug because
he smoked Weed, America's high school and college students are
notorious for smoking Weed, are they all thugs? The results of
Martin's drug test showed that he had not used anything for days
before his death, and the traces found in his system were not enough
to have any effect on his behavior that evening.

Why are there only People of Color in
the Projects? Do any of America's cities have Projects filled with
poor Whites? There are many more poor Whites than there are poor
people of any other race, exactly what was the goal of creating the
Projects and filling them with People of Color? Are the Projects
actually Reservations created to isolate Blacks from White society?
Was Trayvon Martin considered a monster because he looked like
President Obama and others of that race.

Tapes of a witness of what happened that night, were played on

                                WITNESS 2:
"I mean that little kid was so
                                skinny compared to him".

                                POLICE:
                                "Exactly, yeah, that’s the
                                impression that we all got".

                                WITNESS 2:

"And I can tell you there was no fighting going on at the time that the gun went off.
Because we were both in the kitchen making coffee, the window
was open, there was no fighting. And the fight that happened
started way down the sidewalk, because the person on the very
end of this block is the one who called the police originally
because the fight broke out. Now the kid got shot way down here,
you know, five doors down. I know they were not physically
fighting at the time that gun went off, when we heard the shot,
and the kid hit the ground".

Did George Zimmerman shoot Trayvon Martin because Trayvon was hitting him or was it because he
was angry that Trayvon had hit him?

Check out Vidor, Texas. The projects there are so white they refused to allow people of color in and HUD finally said fine you are cut off from Gov. funding. Oh yeah there are white projects. I wouldn't think of going to see them, east TX.

The majority of the poor in the US is white. Where are all the "white only" organization to feed only white people. Latino only organizations are all over the place stealing money meant to feed ALL of America's poor.

                                    @T.J.McBearsofBrooklyn,

What exactly is your point? So what you live near the projects. I wouldn't be surprised if you lived in them yourself.

How do you know Trayvon Martin was suspended from school numerous of time, I've only heard of that one time that child was suspended from school? That's neither here nor there whatever that child's past was has nothing to do with him being dead today. I don't recall George Zimmerman murdering that child because he was suspended from school last I heard he murdered him because he thought he looked suspicious walking in the rain with his hoodie on(GO FIGURE). And last I look monster don't live in projects people do both black and white. You are making no sense with your comment, Trayvon Martin wasn't coming out of any ones window he was walking back to where he belong with snacks in his hand. If you have such a hang up on people living in the project then maybe you should consider moving. The truth of the matter is Zimmerman murdered a defenseless kids because his views and opinion about kids like Trayvon Martin were just like yours. The only difference between the two of you Zimmerman decided to act on his thought and look where that got him, you on the other hand continue to make racist remarks and sound like a fool and look where is getting you. In case you don't know,no where but it certainly is feeding that hate monster inside of you. ijs

Not sure about the misleading part, but there is definitely a biased insinuation on MSNBC's behalf regarding this article. Incriminating a man not yet found guilty by the justice system. Really can't wait for the day these media moguls overstep their boundaries and end up facing a multi-billion dollar lawsuit for their involvement in cases of this magnitude.

Everyone is lynching Zimmerman just like they did Casey Anthony, and for what reason? One was found innocent and another not even proven guilty, with facts that cast doubt clear across the case. And the media incites the lynching. One day someone is going to prove accountability on these media sites.

Well, either way the humor made it's way through. I was just trying to lighten up a subject we're all a little too emotional about. 'Twould be different if any of us really knew what happened that night, but we're just spouting our own emotional biases here. Next time I'll try better punctuation. LMAO

One other question I find peeking at me from the corners of my mind is whether or not Zimmie's choice of foods speaks to his emotional development. Serious question if you think about it.

You're right he's not an average American. The average American doesn't get railroaded by the race card industry and charged with a crime he didn't commit just because a black guy attacked him and he defended himself.

robin is more evidence of the unexplainable decline in mental capacity of the "average" NRA member, far righty and far lefty nut jobs this country is filling up with. Just being incapable of plain old logic is not good enough for them any longer. They have to repeat word for word everything they have been reading or hearing from all media sources. It's as if we've been witness to the results of a secret government experiment. Some kind of futuristic robotic citizens.

Oh, Lord help me! I'm becoming one of them! I'm succumbing to the plot.

Ignoring those who have Ciliac's disease, it has been found to help a lot of people with auto-immune disorders. Though most people who need to be GF, do it by making their food from scratch if they want something that typically would be made with gluten.

I honestly hated the idea of doing it and I was incredibly annoyed that people would tell me how to eat, but has reduced a lot of the pain I have with my autoimmune disorder. It's done wonders for my mom too.

But in some cases, it is over hyped. It shouldn't be used as a diet if you don't need to do it.
