Body parts may belong to decapitated New Orleans woman

Jaren Lockhart

Four body parts that washed ashore on Mississippi beaches Saturday may belong to a decapitated New Orleans woman whose stabbed torso turned up days earlier, officials said.

Jaren Lockhart, 22, vanished Tuesday in New Orleans, officials said. Her torso, discovered Thursday in Bay St. Louis, Miss., was positively identified Saturday, officials told television station WLOX of Biloxi.

On Saturday morning, a fisherman found a lower leg portion in Pass Christian, east of Bay St. Louis, Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove told NBC station WDSU of New Orleans.  Authorities later found a thigh nearby. They found the head just to the east in Long Beach, WDSU reported.

WLOX reported an unspecified fourth part was discovered later in Pass Christian.

Officials were trying to determine if the parts found Saturday also belonged to Lockhart, who New Orleans police said had tattoos over most of her body. She was last seen leaving her Tulane Avenue home around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

WDSU reported that her boyfriend told police that she took a cab to her Bourbon Street job and he grew concerned when he couldn’t contact her. He told police he hasn’t seen or heard from her since that night, WDSU said.

The crack NOPD will have this solved in no time... first suspect -- George W. Bush. After him - the boyfriend. I doubt if it was a strangers. Strangers don't take the time to do the deli work.

New Orleans has problems but I wouldn't go that far. Plenty of good people in New Orleans, there's just enough bad people there to make it a bad place altogether. Damn shame really. I like the town, there's just too many dangerous and unstable people. Damn shame.

I live in New Orleans and we are not morally bankrupt. When you go to the French Quarter and Bourbon Street there is no secret about what goes on there. We are not the only city that has strip joints and gay bars. So get off your high horse and look around where you live

The people in New Orleans are not homophobic. We have gay bars in the French Quarter that are not hidden away or hush-hushed. If you are a gay person in New Orleans we embrace your right to be who you are and we welcome you.

Poltergiest, do you know something the rest of us don't? Where in the article did it say this was black on white? or white on white? or asian on white? or hispanic on white? or purple on white? or blue on white? or green on white? or ........ see I can keep going and going. Why don't you let the rest of the facts come out and then we can see where law enforcement is on this? And if for some reason it was a black person and they don't arrest them and let them go home (ala Zimmerman) then Jesse and Al can get involved, does that make you happy?

Now go put an icebag on your head and calm down, frothing at the mouth does not look good on anyone.

Just curious, how much time did it take out of your KKK meeting to put together your ignorant and hateful little comment?

New Orleans, like most port cities, has a history of being dangerous. It's a party town and we all know the crazy %*#@ that happens when booze and such are added to unstable people.

Deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this young woman.

That guy looks pretty proud to me. Some of the coolest ink I've ever seen was on a guy well into his 60's -- an old sailor, like the fellow in the link, but he had a full chest piece, anchors, the whole nine yards.

Here's another pic. Different guy, older pic, but still an old dude rocking a bad ass service tat.

Who has the job of decapitated head removal? I thought working in sewer was bad, I never dreamed about any killer turds... but I did dream about a dead cow in a tree for 30 years. When I told my mom, she said that wasn't a dream, I had seen the cow at one of her relatives when I was very young. Thankfully my mom told me about the cow, or I would still be seeing that thing in my dreams.

Tatoos, where she lived and worked, and piercings does not mean that she danced with the devil, this is a style and form of art. I feel for her family and friends that have lost a important person in their lives.

It's not just in the U.S. where horrific crimes take place. It's so easy to generalize when you live here and see this junk in the news all of the time. However, take a look at some of the headlines from Canada, Mexico, the Middle East, Africa - the list goes on and on. You'll see that they're not so different from us and not in a good "It's a Small World" kind of way, either.

People have been killing and dismembering people since people have been people. It's nothing new. We just get to hear about it more because of the info highway. Its got nothing to do with a city, state, country or whatever. It's just mans inhumanity to man that, unfortunately, will never end. My condolences to the family.

Take heart-- violent crime has been declining since the early 90's (visit the FBI crime statistics site to look into it). During that same time, though, media coverage of violence has increased over 400%-- so you're effectively hearing more and more about fewer and fewer events.

WMG, very true. Back 30-40 years ago network news was a public service and not subject to rating battles with entertainment programming. That all changed in the 1980s so that now there effectively is no real news programming as part of the major networks. People cannot make intelligent decisions without honest, well researched information.

Even if she were a nun or a librarian, people on here would still find something negative to say. It doesn't matter what she looked like or had adorning her body - she's still a human being who had plenty of life left to live.

To die as a result of a violent crime, is tragic. What's worse is to be discarded in such a way. I hope they catch the criminal who committed this atrocity.

          What are you saying?

I have a friend that I went to high school with that posted on his facebook page earlier in the week to please pray for his friend. He posted a number of pictures of her, some with her daughter. You can read several articles on the internet about this tragedy that mention her 3 year old daughter.

I know nothing else about the young lady. But I do know she was a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend and was apparently loved by many. Nobody deserves what she got. She certainly doesn't deserve the unfounded assumptions being made by many on here. All I ask is that a little respect for the deceased is shown.
