The man who mauled off a homeless man's face over Memorial Day weekend apparently had no human flesh in his stomach, a report shows.
Law-enforcement sources told the Miami Herald an autopsy revealed 31-year-old Rudy Eugene had undigested pills in his stomach but no human flesh. The pills have not yet been identified.
Eugene was fatally shot by an officer after he refused to stop chewing on Ronald Poppo's face along the MacArthur Causeway.

Though officials have speculated bath salts may have sparked Eugene's wild behavior, it remains unknown what prompted the attack.
Girlfriend of face-eating attacker blames drugs or voodoo
Officials told the Herald a preliminary review found marijuana in Eugene's system. Those who knew Eugene said he was known to smoke marijuana but the drug is not known to cause violent spurts.
A source also told the newspaper Eugene did not have his two front teeth but that chunks of flesh were found between his teeth. The source also said pieces of flesh were found on the floor of the scene.

Officials said the autopsy report would not be released to the public until the investigation into the shooting concludes - a process that could take more than a year.
Poppo, meanwhile, continues in critical condition in the hospital.

Seriously how is this news?!? The guy was seen biting off the mans face, police shot and killed the guy. Who the heck cares if he had digested any of the flesh or not. It is not a matter of did he really bite off part of the mans flesh or not &/or digest some. The poor guy in the hospital is proof he was being attemped at being eaten, the guy in the morge is proof he's dead. It makes no difference if he digested some of his skin or not. Not one aspect of the case would change. I really do not understand why this would be reported.
I believe they are investigating the "shooting" and need evidence that the police were in the right. Not just using their guns without reason. IMO, those of you saying he should have been ta-sered or pepper sprayed aren't being realistic. Either of those would have only caused the homeless man (victim) more assault. The attacker would most likely not have been affected and therefore giving him more time to "eat" the victim. Shooting him was the only way to handle this situation. Although I am dearly sad that I feel that way.
No they were hoping to find the guys face in his attackers stomach cuz they wanted to reattach it to the victim and couldnt' find enough pieces on the street.

Simply put, not likely. Physical contact existed between the two, which would have meant the victim got zapped too. Tasers are not to be taken lightly, considering that the victim is in critical condition now(at the time of my reading the article), he probably would have died if tased.
Pepper spray would likely have done more harm than good as well, as the chewer was high and likely wouldnt have noticed.

The biting of human flesh is not a new idea, recently conceived by horror flicks of the current decade!
It is, however disgusting, something inborn into all of us. As children it is one of the first traits of human anger, second to suckling. Unlike the rest of the animal kingdom which is just as capable of scratching, kicking, clawing, spitting,... Biting is second nature to ALL creatures which poses a mouth containing teeth.
Not necessarily the same as ingesting flesh; whereas an animal or human is considered a cannibal of their species... As civilized humans we realize that BITING another human is not only filthy and unsanitary; but considered cowardly, juvenile, and humiliating to the victim.
The perpetrator here, is obviously nothing more than a total social reject; a cowardly loser, with no human compassion and could care less about the consequences for his actions. - He feels he can DO whatever he wants without regard to another human-being.

Glad they killed him. One less low life we need to support and "rehabilitate", only to be let free to do it all over again - next time to an inocent kid. Don't care if he was on drugs or not. Tired of excuses - still his fault.
I agree, who cares what he was on, it's over. he's dead just as he should be.
what we need is a better judicial system, where we can give out immedaite punishment for these thugs... If you see someone robbing a store, shoot them dead.... beating up someone, shoot them dead. dealing drugs, kill them on the spot.... this way, you save money, you surly send a message that you aint fooling around anymore, and 3rd, you scare the crap out of these thug welfare rat, gangbangers.
